reminder to myself about the process of drafting & revising:
first drafts are for making it exist
second drafts are for making it functional
third drafts are for making it effective

thinking about how 3rd grade me was so intrigued by ye old timey shit (little house on the prairie) because of the concept of secretly wild and masculine girls who masquerade adequately as respectable young ladies until they are given a lawless countryside in which to shed their bonnets and run around in their bloomers and Be Free
#dont misunderstand: i have never known a single actual historical fact about this time period so please do not correct me#i just loved the tropes and i spent literally my entire third grade year living in this fantasy#my first ever writing was a self-insert piece about this exact thing and it was 80 hand-written pages#i had a pet wolf and a love triangle and i climbed trees and helped the men build and went swimming even when i didnt have the right clothes#and anyway wow i forgot about how deep this ran#my school did a day where we went to a historical school house and dressed in the garb and ate only food they wouldve had and etc#and i remember reveling in the resentment of the clothes and the gender roles#and being so thrilled when i was one of very few girls who thought to wear shorts underneath so they could change on the way home#idk i should take a melatonin probably but damn.#there’s a lot to unpack there.#all i wanted as a child was to be allowed to be indecent#izzy.txt 2018
