I was going to do the thing but you see my pet bird climbed on me and put his little face under my chin so now I'm legally not allowed to move my head. Yeah getting up is forbidden also. Sorry.

Oh wow Izzie saw me switch on my bedside lamp and clearly said "Good Night?"

So he made the connection that this is something I do before covering his cage & switching out the main lights AND used the situation-appropriate phrase. Good Birb!

When I buy Izzie an expensive new toy with the expectation it will last him a few months or even years: completely and utterly destroyed after 3 days (not the intended use)

When I string a bunch of toilet paper rolls together SPECIFICALLY so he could destroy those and move on in a day or two: perfectly undamaged and spotless after a week.He's literally cuddling with it. New best friend.I'm not allowed to touch.

My pet green cheek conure Izzie has been caught unlocking my phone on several occasions and has figured out scrolling as well.It's kind of hard to do with his beak but by god does he try. He also watches movies with me on my laptop.

Unfortunately he's been banned from touching said laptop because he chewed up the plastic around the screen on the previous one ( It was for science!).Whoops.

My cats first encounter with phone screens were those cat games on YouTube (y'know, the ones with the mouse running around?).I showed them those when they were kittens and they were Obsessed with them for a while. They both still associate my phone with that and will sometimes check the screen for mice.So I suspect their thoughts would be something like"Ah yes, Human must be playing some weird human version of the Mouse Game on that thing"(well... yeah, kind of😂).

obviously there’s a lot of mystery to the inner minds of animals but I want to know so badly what they think our phones and computers are. They see us tapping our fingers all over these portable windows and they show no indication of really caring after maybe their very first encounter, or if they do there’s still no way they really understand it and that doesn’t seem to bother them. Do animals not hypothesize or wonder to themselves about all this shit we’re putting around them? Are they by necessity resigned to the limitations of their investigative capabilities? They have to assume for their own little kitty cat sanity that the world is full of just whatever for just no reason?

Decided to give Izzie a small piece of unseasoned cooked chicken to try because I suddenly remembered his predecessor George loved it and yeah, he's enjoying it too, beak grinding and happy "tasty food" sounds and all.

Guess it's a stand-in for the occasional worm they eat in the wild ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯
