Izuru Kamukura

He thought you deserved the title of The Ultimate Hope, if we were talking about it quite literally. You were painfully optimistic, as well as very naive, and he felt an urge to protect your rays of pure sunshine. He just watched as you put a charm bracelet upon his wrist, with little charms of yours and his initials with a bunch of little hearts. Your heart was filled with hope… a dangerous thing within Hope’s Peak Academy.

You were a very spontaneous person as well. He couldn’t predict what you would do next, be it present him with something or give him a hug, a kiss, hold a spoon of a food your personal chef cooked for you to his lips, etc. You’ve even once shoved crackers into his mouth because you were a bit too excited about sharing a meal with each other.

If we’re being honest, he doesn’t even trust the staff members your family hired for you. He will gladly become your taste-tester as well as your bodyguard because of his distrust in those surrounding you. You were a person of great influence and of great interest because of your family’s wealth that you were set to inherit. You were the one person who made him feel joy, so he would be damned before he let anything happen to you.

Speaking of your family, when you introduced him to them, he wasn’t too surprised that you had so many siblings. The only thing that did surprise him was the amount of times your siblings and even your mother asked about the wedding. You were flustered as well, but what Izuru did in response was the cherry on top; he said that he would ask you to marry him some time after you graduated, and your family members seemed satisfied with that answer. You couldn’t believe what he just said, but you had to admit that you were excited for it.

Whenever you both had lunch together, you would feed each other a bit of your meals. He just went with it, and it became routine. He’s the type of person to take a napkin and clean up the side of your face when you make a mess, calling you childish (affectionately) and telling you to eat over the container in case some of it spills.

All of your classmates are so shocked when he walks into the classroom with you on his back, and you are cheering out loud with him looking like a grumpy cat who got woken up. However, once he puts you down, you press a big kiss on his cheek before going off to your usual group of friends while he lingered close by, remaining vigilant.

"Okay," Izuru finally says, after several minutes listening to Makoto plead his case with an unreadable expression. "I won't take your memories."

The frantic tension leaves Makoto's body. For a second, he just catches his breath. Then he says, "Thank you." It's the most earnest sigh of gratitude that Izuru has ever heard. Makoto seems to have willfully forgotten his anger at being kidnapped and deceived, now that his right to keep his memory relies on Izuru's grace. "Thank you, thank you!"

He gives Izuru a hug, which he gladly returns. His hand curls in Makoto's hair. His other hand rubs his back. That hand is still holding the syringe he would have sedated him with, had things gone differently. He'll put it away once this conversation has resolved.

He's glad that he doesn't have to lie anymore. Honesty is good for a relationship.

When Makoto's racing heart has slowed enough, Izuru withdraws from the hug just enough to rest his forehead against his. "But, if I start to think you'll be happier without them-"

"I'll be fine," Makoto says quickly. "Everything's fine, right? We're both happy."

"You understand why I had to do what I did?"

"Y-Yeah. You were...just trying to protect me." Makoto is such a bad liar, but he's trying so hard.

Izuru kisses him. Back before he remembered everything, Makoto always returned his kisses shyly. Now, he is not shy. Now, he kisses Izuru back with a deliberateness like he fully feels the weight of the choice.

Both are good, but this is new.

After a while, Izuru is the one who breaks the kiss. Normally, it would be Makoto; normally, Makoto laughs out of embarrassment or pulls back to ask a question. Now, he is blushing and still. "I love you," Izuru says.

"...Love you, too," Makoto answers, using shortness of breath to mask his hesitation.

Izuru tilts his head, and Makoto reflexively avoids his eyes and then forces himself to make eye contact again. "Makoto, if I could ask you for one more thing..."

"Sure, what is it?"

He caresses his face, with the hand that isn't holding the syringe. (That hand is on his shoulder.) "Kirigiri isn't here right now, but...I'd like it if you would verbally break up with her, now. I think it would benefit the health of our relationship if you weren't still carrying her weight."

There's a flash of noticeable anger in Makoto's eyes before he drops his gaze. When he meets Izuru's eyes again, the anger is gone. The effort it takes for him to manage such poor acting is unbelievably cute. "Okay. Then, she and I are officially broken up. It's not like she remembers me anyway, right?"

"Right." Izuru puts the syringe away and gives him another quick kiss. "I'm glad we can agree on where we stand. I've kept your dinner warm; you can come finish it now. Then you can have your bath, and we can both go to bed."

"Okay. Thank you."

When Izuru pointedly doesn't move, Makoto leads the way back to the kitchen. As he follows, shutting the garage door behind him, Izuru wonders how long this new peace will last. How long will Makoto's temper hold? How long will he himself continue to enjoy the mess of honesty more than the wholesome romance of all-forgiving ignorance? How long will a verbal disavowal of the undeserving detective restrain his jealousy? His need to excise her completely from Makoto's mind?

It all makes him very curious.

It feels as though he falls more in love by the minute.

"Building the Monokuma robots there," Kyoko interrupted.

"Exactly,"

"Okay, we need to have a meeting with everyone else, share this information with them." Kyoko said, writing everything down in a notepad.

"Can we do that later?" you asked. "I still can't move my leg, and I don't feel like being in a wheelchair right now,"

Kyoko sighed. "Fine, thirty minutes," she said, walking out of the first aid area. "Makoto, keep an eye on him,"

"Sure," he said smiling at you.

There was an awkward silence for a moment.

"How's your leg?" he asked

"It doesn't hurt as bad anymore," you said, rubbing your leg. "Thanks for asking.

And if The Program doesn't work, will we just have to execute them? They don't deserve that. I don't think I'll be able to make that decision, especially after watching-"

Makoto suddenly grabbed your hand, silencing your rambling.

"I agree, those people don't deserve death. That's why we're trying out the program," he said, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. "It's gonna work Y/N, I promise."

"You think so?"

"I know so,"

With his other hand, Makoto gently cupped your cheek, leaning in, he placed his lips on yours. His lips were soft, and they tasted like vanilla bean. He squeezed your hand as he continued to kiss you. You had been waiting for this moment for so long, since the middle of the Killing Game. But he was always either with Sayaka or Kyoko then, so you didn't really have the chance to build this kind of relationship. You wanted to make up for lost time as much as you could.

You pulled away from each other, slightly out of breath, but the both of you smiling.

"You're so handsome," he whispered, kissing your cheek. "I suggest you lay down, the meeting's gonna be a long one."

I am back! With more of our beloved Nagizuru! Finally! Thank y’all for your patience. Rain Code has been taking all my time recently. It’s a fun game! But anyways…

Hajime in the lighthouse au is certainly lucky, isn’t he? But I wonder, is the luck attached to an object on his person in addition to the embodiment of hope? Perhaps, perhaps.

Looks like you will have to read on to have that question answered.

As was common nowadays, Hajime found himself staying in the Ultimate Hope’s room long after the tests were complete and the food was eaten. He came to expect it now, never attempting to rush out. So he wasn’t all too surprised when he found himself pinned to the bed while Izuru laid next to him while idly running a hand along his face and chest.

But even though he had expected it, it did not diminish his reactions to it.

His cheeks were bright red and his posture was stiff as he laid there on the bed, feeling the pale hand move around him. It lingered often around the metal circling his neck and the chain attached to the collar. He would have had to be truly blind to have not noticed the superhuman’s habit of messing with it. But Hajime never complained. Why would he? He was there to serve Izuru, and that included serving as his plaything should it be requested.

It had been silent as Izuru did as he liked. But finally, it was broken with a question. “Do you ever wish to have this removed?” The metal was tapped with the tip of a fingernail, making a distinct noise.

Hajime swallowed and answered. “I… will admit that I haven’t thought of it much. My thoughts are often preoccupied with other things, such as your care. My comfort is not as important as yours.”

Izuru hummed, hand now winding around the chain. “But you have thought of it.”

The caretaker nodded very slowly, not wanting to dislodge Izuru’s hold on him. “It was difficult to get used to at first. But now it doesn’t bother me. I can sleep fine and the noise it makes as I move doesn’t register anymore. Well, aside from when I am called. Then it’s annoying.” He huffed at that last part, recalling all the irritating times he had been summoned via the collar instead of the radio.

Izuru's smile widened at his displayed emotion. “I agree. Especially as it takes you away from me.”

Hajime paused before continuing to speak. “And… I know you like it. You constantly hold onto it or touch it when we are close like this.”

The Ultimate Hope simply smirked, bringing the chain over to him and kissing the end of it. “Yes, I do.”

The red on Hajime’s cheeks darkened, having not expected that. “I-I hope to continue to be a good source of entertainment for you.”

“Oh, I have no doubts you will,” Izuru stated, walking his fingers along the chain until he reached the top link. “Now, I suppose I must let you go. A shame. So run along, perform your duties and then return to me come evening.” The white-haired man then leaned in closer, right next to Hajime’s ear. “And I hope you enjoy your gift. I will only bestow it upon you.”

That elicited so many shivers down his spine. “A-a gift? What… what do you mean?”

“You shall see. I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise,” was all he got in response. The superhuman pulled away, allowing the brunette to finally sit up and stand. Loathe as he was to leave, he knew he had to.

He placed his hands on the cart, the cold metal calming the jittering in his hands. “I’ll try to get some more flavorful food with the meal tonight. Wish me luck on succeeding,” he joked with a smile.

“I don’t need to do such a thing. I already know you will succeed, my dear caretaker,” Izuru replied, staring hard at his collar’s chain for some reason. But Hajime didn’t want to risk asking for clarification, so he left the room behind and entered the elevator to do the rest of his tasks.

He had to start off with handing the reports and results back in. That usually wasn’t the most fun, as almost everyone was foul and rude to him. But still, he had to give the results. He just prayed that maybe, just maybe, he would get one of the few patient doctors there this time. He took a deep breath, absentmindedly gripping the last link on his chain to ground himself, then walked inside.

To his immense surprise, the person waiting for him was indeed the polite, patient doctor that quietly accepted the notes with only a nod. Knowing better than to push his luck, Hajime nodded back and exited the room, again clutching his chain as he half expected a demand as soon as he walked out.

But nothing. Everyone ignored him and left him alone.

Hajime gripped the chain harder, not entirely believing how well things had been going. It was almost as if…

Wanting to test his theory, he slipped into the cafeteria to grab something to eat. And to his decreasing shock, the spread was fresh and full. Not many items had been taken yet, so there were many options for him, including desserts. Usually, he was unable to have any of the desserts, as the staff here were all greedy and would take as many as they could carry. Well, he decided to imitate them and grabbed a few pastries along with his lunch. No one batted an eye or looked his way as he made his way to the elevator. The silver doors closed, lifting him up to the fifth floor.

“What is with today?” he muttered to himself as he set the food down on the table. He had managed to get quite a nice meal, with the extra pastries adding a sweet finish. “This can’t be a crazy coincidence. Was this… what he meant? Did he… give me luck?”

That had to be it. There was no other explanation. He had been bestowed with such a wonderful gift. Depending on how long it lasted, perhaps he could do some things to improve Izuru’s living conditions. Nice smelling soaps, more books, maybe a soft blanket and decorations for the room. And more food was also possible. If he could get access to the food storage, the possibilities of what he could make for the Ultimate Hope would increase!

But before he could accomplish any of that, he had to get a scope on how long this would last. Just a few hours? It was too risky to test it more than he had. He looked up at the clock and noticed that it wasn’t long until Izuru’s evening meal. Guess he really had spent a while in the room earlier for it to already be close to time. He could ask and possibly get his answers soon.

He ate his meal relatively fast, being sure to set the pastries aside for Izuru. He was eager to see the reactions to them over the next few days, as he was sure Izuru had never been given anything sugary or sweet.

Carefully placing a puff pastry fruit tart on a plate, he gathered everything once all his mess had been cleaned up. It was now time again. His heart raced as the elevator took him to the sixth floor once again, to the one he had devoted himself to. His card was scanned, opening the door to him.

“Welcome back, my dear caretaker. I trust you enjoyed your gift?”

That beautiful voice broke the silence before the door had closed behind him. Hajime was sure he would never tire of hearing it. “If it’s what I think it is, then yes.”

Izuru rested his head on his hand, an amused expression evident. “And tell me, what do you think I gifted you?”

Hajime grabbed the blood pressure cuff, wanting to get the tests over with. “You gave me good luck. Everything that could have gone well went well. As if you blessed me with some lucky charm.”

Izuru nodded as he sat up on the bed, extending an arm to cooperate. “I did indeed. You possess something blessed with my luck. I trust that you won’t abuse it, unlike many here.”

Hajime tilted his head. “Something? What did you…” His chain clinked as he moved, causing the realization to practically slap him in the face. “You blessed… my chain?”

The white-haired man smiled wider. “Correct.” A pale hand grasped the metal again, tugging Hajime so that their faces were an inch apart. “A chain of fate? Of servitude and devotion? Of feelings unspoken? Of ownership? You may decide which one you enjoy the most. I shall keep mine secret.”

The chain was released, but Izuru didn’t move away. “Now then, proceed. I am most eager to see what you brought up for me from your blessing.”

They were so close again. And whenever they got this close, Hajime had to fight to make his brain and body work. It was so tempting to just lean in and rest against Izuru. The aura around him was one of comfort and safety, which he knew was strictly reserved for him and him alone. He wished for the millionth time that they could be anywhere else, with no need to hide or be cautious.

But perhaps one day it would be possible. One day, they would escape this hell created by humanity’s hubris. For now, he could act. He told himself this as he stepped back. “Of course, sir. I think you will like it.”

Shuuhei groaned. “You’re useless!”

“Go ask Rangiku, I hear she and Captain Hitsugaya were out to see him the week before us.”

“I did! She said it was personal, and it wasn’t her story to share. She’s mad at you, by the way, for ditching your own birthday party.”

“Hmm,” Renji said. “She was probably referring to the reason he deserted. I only got about a quarter of that story, and she’s right, it is personal. How was my birthday party?”

Shuuhei heaved a huge sigh. “It was okay. It would have been better if you had actually been there.”

just realized that almost of the divine deities from my bleach fanfic PSA have rosters and sneaky links but, I never confirmed who they ended up being with in the no breath from the jaws of hell arc.

let's start off with the easiest one so far, Nuria: the divine diva of fire and the reincarnation of the Shinto goddess Kami Konohanasakuya-hime aka the woman that resided in Mt Fuji. But, was also half espada and half shinigami thanks to the experimentation from the likes of Aizen, Tousen and Gin she endured throughout the years.

Nuria has a roster full of only a few men, having the only a couple of people in there including:

Kensei Muguruma (on and off situationship but they agreed to just be friends with benefits when necessary)

Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (started off with him just being a munch for her into them full blown fucking each other's brains out)

Yasutora Sado (a short kiss and she saw that he was too good for her, he shockingly was cool with it)

She ended up with Grimmjow due to their closeness with each other after spending some special quality time together behind closed doors. Nuria ended up keeping this a secret until arriving at the soul king's palace with Grimmjow and kissed him in front of everybody.

Next up is the shit talking but no shit taking divine diva Azure: the beauty who is reincarnated from the Egyptian peaceful lion god of air, peace and the skies Shu. Which is pretty ironic considered that she's the most violent one out of the four. She's considered an alchemist and sorceress supreme learning from Jaír, Hekka and Uryu how to hone her abilities.

Her roster is pretty unique considering how her type in men changed from time to time which consist of:

Uryu Ishida (started messing with each other on the low and then bonded)

Shuhei Hisagi (both of them used each other to get over their own crushes)

Izuru Kira (he lustfully fell head over heels over her after being exposed to her pheromones and it was one sided)

Akon (a short hit it and quit it moment that both of them never acknowledged ever again but still fantasize about said encounter)

Azure ended up with Uryu since growing closer with him from training, she immediately cut off everybody else she was dealing with and made it official. She shocked EVERYBODY when she admitted to having feelings for him. They ended up marrying each other and having quadruplets with each other.

Up for third, it's the badass bad bitch herself Olori, the divine diva of the element of water. She's the reincarnation of the Hawaiian trickster god of water, fire and animals himself Maui. She's the only person who doesn't have any alignments with anybody from the Soul Society or Hueco Mundo.

She has the most chaotic roster that would even make Zeus and Apollo themselves look sane in comparison but, it's also very gag worthy:

Shinji Hirako (he was a casual patron at Paradise Island and would even have quickies with her every time they encountered each other)

Ichigo Kurosaki (after getting trapped in his sword she somehow bonded with him and accidentally binded her soul with his)

Orihime Inoue (she saved her life amidst the battlefield and accidentally intertwined and bonded their souls together)

Ikkaku Madarame (Kenpachi had him train her and the sexual tension between them was so thick that they ended up fucking each other fifteen minutes later.)

Kisuke Urahara (was introduced to him thanks to Hekka and they fucked five seconds later after he healed her. Him and Yoruichi had a threesome with her a couple of months later after their encounter.)

Yoruichi Shihoin (accidentally talked Olori into having a threesome with Urahara. All three of them enjoyed it so much that they would meet up to do it again every two to three months.)

Coyote Starrk (while being undercover on a side mission for Hekka, she ended up giving him head and he even referenced it during his fight against Ukitake and Kyoraku)

Bazz B (while undercover to break Azure out of jail, she seduced Bazz B into giving her information to where Azure was held captive)

Olori ended up not getting with anybody at all, she feels that it's way too stressful to claim people and she's too wild to be chained up to only one person. But, she still swings by Urahara and Yoruichi whenever she feels bored. She also occasionally fucks Ikkaku whenever she visits the soul society. She then finds it amusing whenever Ichigo and Orihime get so flustered by her appearance because they never told each other about their sexual encounters with her at all. She did almost reconsider making things official with Shinji but then she decided that she wasn't the relationship type at all.

Last but, definitely most definitely not least is the youngest of the divine divas and the reincarnation of the Vodoun goddess of sex, flowers, crystals and love: Erzulie.....EBK Lotus! She was a young trainee of Yoruichi and was almost the lieutenant of squad two under Soi Fon until the infamous exile of Tijían Chandoo that had a majority of her memories of the soul society wiped away. She then had Hekka and Jaír help her gain her memories back.

her roster is pretty similar to Nuria's but the results are almost familiar to Olori's yet more calm in comparison. All of them were accidentally caught under the hypnosis calming:

Kenpachi Zaraki (was the first one that she got with, he freaked out after seeing his room covered with flowers and leaves but then immediately forgot about it after seeing her change out of her “uniform” that was given to her)

Shunsui Kyoraku (after he saved her life and lost his eye in the midst of it, he took her to his headquarters so she could heal and after seeing her dress herself up in his kimono he immediately smashed)

She ended up working out her own schedule whereas she gets to spend some quality time with the captains depending on how busy they are. They shockingly don't really care about Lotus having sex with either of them since they know that she's not the type to tie herself down like that yet. She did end up just being with them but not being with them at the same time.

The biggest gag is that they all shared a body with Renji Abari but it was all on different occasions. They tend to joke about it low-key but, Renji did habor some strong feelings toward Nuria after their encounter in Hueco Mundo. But that's another story for another time.

Random Yandere Headcanons: Danganronpa V2 with an affectionate darling

Hajime Hinata:

Any affection he gets makes him feel warm and fuzzy inside. He does try to return any affection that is given to him. Having an affectionate darling will make him more attached to them.

Izuru Kamukura:

He doesn't really feel one way or the other about it. Although when his darling does show affection to him there's this odd familiar feeling that he gets. He's not too sure what it is but he knows that he doesn't want it to go away.

Nagito Komaeda:

A bit conflicted about having such a sweet darling. On one hand he loves Every second of it but on the other hand he doesn't think they should be that loving to him.  Although he never tells them to stop what they are doing, he does sometimes falls into old habits of saying that he doesn't deserve all this love. (That and the fact that he knows they would hate him if they know just some of the things he had done.

Gundham Tanaka:

Adorable them even more and (if even possible.) Falls even deeper in love. Having an affectionate darling may actually calm down his yandere ways but it will also make some parts stronger. Like his possessive side and protective side, it may also led to him kidnapping a lot sooner.  

Kazuichi Soda:

An affectionate darling is the perfect darling for kazuichi. In return for all the love his darling shows him he will return it tenfold and become even more clingy. He will also become more determined not to let them leave him.  

Teruteru Hanamura:

His yandere side does calm down quite a bit with an affectionate darling. Although just like some of the others, some other parts start to show more. Like being possessive and wanting his darling's attention on him.

Nekomaru Nidai:

Having such a sweet darlings feeds into his delusion making everything even more normal to him.  He does become jealous if his darling is showing any type of affection to anyone else, friendly or not. He also becomes much more possessive over this type of darling.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu:

It's a weird mix of seeming like he hates it and taking pride in it. This shows that he has won their heart (even if they meant things in a friendly manner.) The only reason why he seems like he hates it is because of the front he has to put up but in true he melts any time they show him some love.

Byakuya Twogami/ Ultimate Imposter:

They melt Every time their darling shows them any amount of affection. They do return it in full feeling like they truly win their darling over. All in all, they are happy that their darling doesn't hate them.

Akane Owari:

She became so soft and mushy when her darling gave her any type of affection. She will not only return it tenfold but become even clinger then she already was. However, she will also start to want more each time. (More kisses, sweet words etc.)

Chiaki Nanami:

Soft, everything comes so soft between Chiaki and her darling. It's almost like they are in a normal relationship. All in all, out of all of the others she is the one that will make things seem more normal.  

Sonia Nevermind:

She adores her darling and the fact that they are willingly giving her love just makes things much easier.  She loves it if they were to show affection in public so people can see that they are together.  An affection also reinforces her delusions which depending on her darling's next move could make things more…dicey.

Hiyoko Saionji:

She tries so hard to act like she hates any affection her darling gives her but in truth she wants nothing more than her darling being sweet to her.

Ibuki Mioda:

Ibuki and her daring just become a mess of lovey doveyness. Both look like just another clingy and mushy couple. Although if someone says something negative about it then they won't be there the next day.

Mahiru Koizumi:

It's the perfect darling for her and it makes things much easier. Like someone of others she will become much more possessive of this type of darling but they also calm down her yandere side. So, all in all it's a win win for everyone.

Mikan Tsumiki:

It's most likely why she is a yandere for them in the first place. Any time her darling shows her affection she's in heaven. There's also a greater chance of her kidnapping this type of darling.

Peko Pekoyama:

She will return her darling’s affection as best she can although it usually just ends up with her doing something for them. Like getting rid of people who she believes will harm them or just stay even closer to them then she already does.

"I-izu what are you d-doing? " you asked softly. You were trying to avoid eye contact. It would just make you even more flustered.

Maybe that was his goal.

While you were being flustered mess Izuru's hand slowly crept up your thigh soon meeting at you hip. He grasped the soft flesh and pushed you against the wall.

I don’t think enough people realize the comedy potential of postgame Komahina/Kamukoma. Nagito will compliment Izuru’s talent and say he’s amazing and Hajime will get jealous before he realizes “wait I’m Izuru too.” But he’s still jealous. And then Nagito compliments Hajime’s green eye and says it’s pretty AND HE STILL GETS JEALOUS. Because before the Hajime part of him was jealous, and now the Izuru part of him is jealous. And he has no idea how to stop feeling jelly of himself. Also, Hajime trying to be a tsundere and the Izuru voice in him being like “Just kiss him. Please.” Because now he’s tired of his own pining. Also, him being effortlessly smooth and romantic (Ultimate Escort) but then immediately turning into a stuttering mess once the Izuru side decides “hey I’m gonna peace out see ya.” Nagito is completely oblivious to the chaos in Hajime/Izuru’s mind.

As promised (actually I don’t think I promised it but whatev) here is the girl talk snippet from “It’s Not Over. We’re Not Done.” chapter 15. If you haven’t read it ( https://archiveofourown.org/works/28798473/chapters/70625382 plu plug plug) then you’ll be confused, but like... if you want contextless post-DR3 “Nagito has friends” fluff, who am I to stop you?

Back in the Jabberwock killing game, Nagito almost enjoyed the motives that they were given. As soon as the 77th class had been thrown into the thick of it, Nagito had been beside himself with anticipation at seeing brilliant Ultimate hope persevere against the depths of tragedy. But he didn’t think he’d be happy about a new killing motive again. 

Granted, the reason was much less nefarious this time around. 

The First Blood Perk: there would be no trial or punishment for the first blackened. They would be free; or whatever that meant in the context of the simulation.

Nagito was looking forward to telling Hajime the relatively good news, but once his game-watching shift was over, it looked like Kazuichi had beaten him to it. 

From what Nagito could hear at a distance, it sounded like Kazuichi was putting a bit too much emphasis on how “Kokichi is being an absolute dick to Kiibo”, but the tension in Hajime’s expression lessened with the actually-important news. 

Even when Kazuichi left, Nagito stayed where he was, indecisively shifting from foot to foot. Hajime hadn’t reacted well at all when the two’s relationship had been outed the day prior. He was slowly warming up to showing casual affection when they were alone, but when others could see them…

Hajime finally noticed Nagito fidgeting on the other side of the hall, his face softening further, a small but genuine smile gracing his face. The sight went straight to Nagito’s heart, speeding it up to double-time.

He wasn’t sure how he’d gotten this lucky. 

But before either could call out a greeting, two hands slapped over Nagito’s eyes as someone leaped onto his back. 

“Ah?” Nagito said in subdued alarm. 

“Nagichan spotted! Deploy, deploy!” Presumably Ibuki screeched in his ear, as he bent under her weight. 

“Oh, wonderful! I was worried we would not be able to meet today,” Sonia chirped, somewhere to Nagito’s left. When Ibuki slid off and he regained his sight, Nagito saw the two, plus Komaru, beaming at him expectantly. 

“Do you… need something…?” Nagito blanked. 

“Uh, yeah!” Komaru exclaimed, as if he were missing something very, very obvious. “We haven’t talked about-“

She cut herself off when she spotted Hajime in earshot, looking as baffled as Nagito felt. 

“Ha! Ha! Hajiman!” Ibuki hooted, “Nagi is needed in another castle!”

She and Komaru grabbed both of Nagito’s arms and tugged him back in the direction he’d come from. 

Murder, maybe? No, probably not. 

Sonia smiled brightly and gave a brisk wave to Hajime. “Do not worry! We shall return him to you soon!”

Komaru and Ibuki giggled madly at her word choice as they dragged Nagito away. He wasn’t positive, but he was pretty sure Hajime’s face began turning a concerning shade of white. 

Komaru threw the door open when they reached her and Toko’s room. The three girls filed in without hesitation, but Nagito stopped at the doorway. Wasn’t it inappropriate for a man to enter a girl’s room? It wasn’t like he had ever done that before. Nor had he ever wanted to. However, the protest never had the chance to leave his mouth before he was pulled in, too, the door slamming behind him. 

It came as no surprise that Toko was already inside, curled up under the covers. She seldom moved ever since they were locked inside the hotel, still wracked with guilt and self-horror from what she had done to save Komaru from Tsumugi’s crowd. From who she had let Genocide Jack kill. 

“Hello, Toko,” Nagito said quietly. “Is Nami bothering you?”

Toko made a small noise of negation. 

The only parts of her that Nagito could see was the tangled purple mess of hair sprawled across the pillow, and her hand, absently petting his dog lying beside her. Evidently, at some point during the past two hours or so, Nami had slipped inside, like the spoiled pet she was. 

“Tell us everything!” Komaru urged excitedly, jumping onto the mattress to sit with her girlfriend. Sonia knelt delicately on the floor on Toko’s other side, and Ibuki flopped down next, yanking a very confused Nagito with her.

“Everything...? Komaru, we were on the same shift,” Nagito reminded her.

“Huh? No, not about the…” Komaru trailed off. It seemed like their merry group of twenty-three was split down the middle when it came to how to deal with their situation. Hajime couldn’t stop talking about it, but Komaru was trying very hard to talk about literally anything else.

Ibuki interrupted. “So are you and Hajiman, like, ooey-gooey lovey-dovey, or are you…” She made a variety of random sound effects that Nagito was afraid to interpret.

Sonia and Komaru were leaning forward with sparkling eyes and wide grins.

Ah.

“I… um,” Nagito stuttered, completely unsure of how to answer. The room suddenly felt very warm. And small. “Not… Not the second one. I think.”

“Ooey-gooey boyfriends!” Ibuki squished his cheeks as Komaru and Sonia shot him with rapid-fire questions.

“When!?”

“Where?”

“Who confessed!?”

“Oh! Have you kissed?”

Nagito managed to pry Ibuki away from his face. She bounced away, unbothered. “A week ago, in the hotel hallway, it… depends, and…” Nagito stopped. What was he even allowed to disclose? So much of this was uncharted territory; he still wasn’t used to having friends in the first place. He still wasn’t used to even calling them friends, despite them insisting it was so.

“He’s blushing! They totally have!” Komaru accused proudly.

“My goodness, the both of you must be so sweet!” Sonia clasped her hands together under her chin. “What did you talk about?”

Nagito had replayed the moment an inappropriate amount of times in his own head; maybe it would be nice to talk about it out loud. And they were asking. “Hmm… Hajime said he loved me, and let me kiss him.”

The three girls had frozen smiles on their faces, like they were expecting more.

Ibuki blinked. “Ah… aww?” 

“I’m sorry. Was that too much?” Nagito frowned. He was trying to get better at determining when he had been talking for too long.

“D-details…” Toko mumbled. So she was listening. 

“It… was nice…?” Nagito ventured.

“What did you talk about?” Komaru prompted. Sonia and Ibuki nodded.

Oh. Just a little more, then. “I told him that I fell in love with the Hajime inside Izuru and the Izuru inside Hajime. Then he requested that I stop saying things like that if I continued rejecting his advances. I reminded him that it was for his own wellbeing, and he told me that for whatever reason, he believed that I wasn’t an utter detriment to his quality of life. He even said he was sad when I died!” Nagito closed his eyes dreamily at the memory. “He said many kind things, and allowed me to kiss him. He smiled!”

The girls looked considerably less excited.

“I… I am… more confused, somehow.” Sonia cocked her head, her eyebrows upturned.

“Wait, hold on, did Hajime say he loved you before?” Komaru asked. “When you were in Towa with us, you said it was one-sided.”

“L-lying…” Toko muttered.

“No, not on purpose!” Nagito quickly clarified. He tried not to lie when he could. “Hajime also said it on the boat ride back to Jabberwock, after we escaped Aozora.” 

“Well well well!?” Ibuki shook her fists, pumped up again at the prospect of more gossip.

That memory wasn’t quite as pleasant.

“When Hajime was fixing my prosthetic, he wanted to know why I sacrificed myself for him, and allowed myself to be captured in his place. Of course, I reminded him that I loved him,” Nagito recounted. It seemed like an obvious question at the time. Now that he had hindsight, though, he wondered if it was simply a way to steer the conversation. “He said he felt the same. He tried to kiss me, but…” Nagito winced.

“It’s not that I don’t want to. I just can’t let you. Because I was right, wasn’t I?”

“You think I’m doing this because of Izuru!?”

Nagito shook his head. “...Well. Like I said. It was… for his own good.”

Sonia gasped and covered her mouth. “Oh, Nagito, I… I am so sorry!”

“You’re… sorry?” Nagito repeated. Not quite the reaction he was expecting.

“I told you that Hajime was fixing your arm because I thought you wanted to talk,” Sonia explained mournfully. “I knew how you felt, and I could tell Hajime had feelings for you as well. You both acted so odd afterwards. I should have picked it together!”

“‘Put’,” Toko corrected.

Calling his and Hajime’s actions “odd” was a bit of an understatement. Hajime tried to explain himself, and reconnect, and care for Nagito. But Nagito pushed him away. He was cruel.

“Um, question?” Komaru spoke up hesitantly. “You keep saying that avoiding him was for his own good. What do you mean, exactly?”

“Is it Nagichan’s luck?” Ibuki asked.

Nagito shook his head. If it were anyone else, or if Hajime was 100% “Hajime”, it would have been. Something terrible would have happened to him, just like his parents. But Hajime’s own Ultimate Luck nullified the negative aspects.

Well. Not Hajime’s luck. It was-

“You are talking about the simulation, then?” Sonia offered after a pause.

No, not really. Nagito wasn’t in the mood to correct her, though. Plus, the Jabberwock killing game was a massive roadblock between the two of them. 

“I never saw the simulation, though. What happened?” Komaru asked. 

Sonia and Ibuki avoided Nagito’s eyes.

The Jabberwock killing was also the massive elephant in the room.

They all waited for Nagito to explain. He didn’t. He figured the extent of his actions would best be described by the ones he hurt.

“Ah. Well,” Sonia said after his silence became apparent. “Nagito, um… he was a little…”

“Wacko?” Ibuki supplied.

Sonia looked at her sharply. Nagito nodded in encouragement.

“Nagichan tried to hurt Imposter. And everyone. And Hajiman... is also part of ‘everyone’?” Ibuki continued with uncharacteristic discomfort. Her details were very lacking. Nagito thought it would be best to fill in a bit.

“Not out of self-preservation, either. I simply thought that by introducing despair, it would persuade our classmates to fight for their own brilliant hopes. When I failed, I tried to convince the others to do the same,” Nagito explained. The words were familiar, but even he noticed that his tone lacked the enthusiasm he once spoke with. It felt less like the ramblings of a devotee, and more like an objective, emotionless retelling. “I found out our past identities as the Remnants of Despair, and used my own life to try and take theirs. After all, it was the only use I could think of for myself.”

By the deafening silence following, Nagito came to the conclusion that this was not the planned topic of discussion.

This was all news to Komaru. Still, she didn’t look surprised. It probably sounded very consistent with her and Toko’s experience with him.

“But we have forgiven you!” Sonia insisted, covering his hand with hers. “You have proven that you are a good man, many times now. And… we have all done… terrible, terrible things.” Her voice dipped down at the end of her sentence. As pure-hearted as she was now, Sonia, too, was a Remnant of Despair.

“Hajiman totally thinks so, too!” Ibuki piped up, the positive momentum picking up again. “He’s gone gaga!”

“First impressions aren’t everything, either!” Komaru added. “I mean, look at me and Toko. The first time we met, we were totally different to each other than we are now.”

“It wasn’t the first time we met,” Nagito blurted out.

Oops.

“You… knew each other when you were students?” Sonia deduced. “I did not know that.”

“Oh no, Nagichan didn’t like Reserve Courses…” Ibuki recalled. There went the positive mood again. However…

“I met him when he was no longer a student,” Nagito corrected, his tone flattening out. He met him when he was no longer Hajime.

“I see. Hajime feels guilty because Izuru hurt you?” Sonia asked quietly. 

Yes, but not the way she meant it. 

Nagito wasn’t planning on explaining much further, but Toko spoke again, her voice muffled under the blankets.

“W-where did you g-go when you l-left Towa? Th-the f-first time I-I mean.”

Nagito’s head shot up.

“Wh-what Tsumugi said…” Toko murmured.

“Nagito Komaeda, Ultimate Lucky Student number two, psychopath hope-bitch, Izuru’s personal puppy dog!”

A sharp inhale from Sonia, a gawk from Ibuki, a sympathetic sound from Komaru.

The questions popping around in their minds were practically audible, but they knew enough not to voice them. It wasn’t like they didn’t understand what Toko was implying, either. 

Nagito felt that familiar, peaceful feeling of resignation fill his body, pasting a blank, cheerful smile on his face.

“I’m sorry, I know this isn’t what you planned on talking about today. Though, if it’s any consolation, I’ve found this conversation enlightening. It’s good to remember your roots, isn’t it?” Nagito mused. “‘Hajime and Nagito’... it’s pretty nonsensical and twisted, hmm? His claim to care for me is… impossible. And so is yours-”

Nagito was cut off when Sonia tackled him.

“Do not dare finish that thought!” She cried, squeezing him much tighter than he figured she would be able to. “I do not claim to know how Hajime feels, but I know how I do!”

“Sonia…?” Nagito blinked, trying and failing to untangle himself. 

“You are sweet and kind. You saved my life, even after how we have treated you!” She insisted, cheek squished against his shoulder. 

Ibuki leaped at Nagito from his other side, nearly knocking him and Sonia to the ground. “Ibuki’s crazy, too, it’s a-okay! And she was wrong, Nagichan would never hurt his neighbors’ pets. Nami-Mami is so happy!”

The dog’s tail thumped on the bed at the sound of her name.

“Plus, Nagi’s got the voice of a princess, and he lets me play with his floof!” To illustrate, Ibuki plunged one of her hands into his hair and ruffled madly. Nagito really didn’t like it when (most) people touched his hair, but he was too surprised at the moment to protest.

Two more arms wrapped around his shoulders as Komaru laid on her stomach to reach them from the bed. “I know I haven’t really known you for too long, but I wanna get to know you more. We didn’t get off on a good foot, but you’re so different now!”

A hand landed on his head.

“I-I j-just do wh-what Komaru does… sh-she makes friends w-with w-weird people, b-but…” Toko muttered.

Nagito felt tears prick at his eyes, but he was too cocooned with affection to be able to wipe his face. “Ah… that’s… thank you,” he murmured. 

He jumped when he felt a light slap on his scalp.

“Also, come on! Hajime is totally head over heels!” Komaru scolded playfully. “When you talked to him on the computer back in Towa, he was so happy you were okay, I thought he was gonna, like, explode!”

“I-it was gross,” Toko agreed.

“And Hajiman tried so hard to rescue you!” Ibuki squealed. Nagito flinched at her proximity to his ear. “Ibuki heard he carried Nagichan all the way back to the bus. Like a knight and a princess!”

Nagito wasn’t sure he liked Ibuki’s insistence of him being a princess, but she meant well.

“And I have never seen Hajime as happy as he was when you were together.” Sonia said, pulling back to put a hand on Nagito’s cheek. “We are not defined by our actions in the past. Who you are now is most important, and the person that you are now is the one we all love.”

Being loved: it was an experience that Nagito never really had. Of course he wouldn’t recognize it.

Change didn’t come easy. It didn’t come quick. It came in increments, in short bursts, in relapses and two steps back, and in growth. 

One gesture couldn’t change everything. But it could help the process.

Nagito knew he’d made Hajime lose his cool quite a bit back in the day. But not like this. Never like this.

The hole Hajime had punched through the wall watched them like a single black eye, the resulting drops of blood on the carpet almost visible, even in the dark. Hajime’s eyes were puffy, and the bandage on his hand was bulky and rough.

When Hajime had gotten out of the shower, Nagito was laying on the bed and feigning sleep. He wasn’t sure what he could even say to Hajime, and decided that acting was the least offensive thing to do. He kept his eyes shut, even when he felt Hajime’s bore into him. Even when Hajime laid down and clung onto him for dear life. Even when Hajime hooked his legs like a vice around one of Nagito’s, and gripped his shirt enough to make it ride up, and buried his face so far into the crook of Nagito’s neck that he worried his breathing was compromised. 

Maybe it was to prevent Nagito from leaving and trying to sacrifice himself. Again.

Or…

...Or maybe Hajime just wanted reassurance that Nagito was there. Maybe he just wanted to be with him.

“I love you,” Hajime whispered shakily to the supposedly-sleeping boy, his breath warm on his skin.

Hajime wanted Nagito to be scared about the prospect of his own demise. But how could he be?

Right now, Nagito had everything he wanted. He had… friends. A makeshift family. He had Hajime.

For once, Nagito was happy.

How did komahina co-parent at first? How was hajimes reaction to the twins? Did bebi like getting siblings

komahina's co-parenting at first was...definitely an Ordeal. not even because of bebi, but bc komahina is a mess. originally hajime was very insecure about his role in bebi's life, as he had very clearly asserted himself as a separate person from izuru and that he was going to live as hajime and not someone else- so wouldn't that make bebi Not his kid? sure, they're his genetically, but in theory.... that was the dilemma he dealt with. he'd already grown attached to them when he was caring for them while nagito was still in a coma and worries now that nagito has woken up, his job is done, and that nagito won't want him around bebi anymore. in turn, nagito is worried that bc hajime is asserting himself as separate from izuru that he doesn't see bebi as his kid and will not be interested in raising them, that bebi will lose their father and nagito will lose his once-husband (lurking somewhere in hajime's subconscious...) turned best friend. they live together right off the bat, sleeping in the same bed (bebi likes to be held by the 2 of them to fall asleep...but even when bebi sleeps in their own bed they didn't think to get separate bedrooms or anything...) and end up becoming very.....affectionate with one another despite their claims that they're purely platonic. they "platonically" hold hands, cuddle, kiss, kiss, and more...intimate things in the cover of night ;) nagito's convinced hajime is just "using him for stress relief" and he's only truly staying bc he'd feel guilty leaving bebi. hajime thinks they're together. this miscommunication is not truly cleared up until hajime proposes. other than that, they both love bebi very very much and spend all their time with bebi, doting on them, playing with them, caring for them.

as for hajime's reaction to the twins- that in itself was also an Ordeal! when nagito found out he was pregnant again, bebi was very sick and in the hospital, which was very hard on nagito as he blamed himself. and he had resigned himself to leaving bebi and hajime, thinking they'd be safer without him in their lives. hajime was an adult who was fully informed of the danger of nagito's luck and had izuru's luck to protect him ! but bebi couldn't consent to that. he did not want to risk hurting his child in any capacity. so he resigned himself to leaving...but the news of pregnancy only devastated him further. to think he'd ruin not only bebi and hajime's lives but the life of another baby (not knowing it was twins lol)....it was too much for him. the plan was to leave the island, suffer through the pregnancy by himself, and come back after the birth to drop their new baby off before disappearing forever.

bc nagito's carrying twins, the toll on his body during this pregnancy is far worse than it was during despair. he becomes very weak and sickly, especially with the added stress and despair of trying to leave his 'best friend' and kid, his kid being in the hospital,,, he hasn't been taking care of himself. the night bebi returns from the hospital (fully recovered! ...but having finally fully lost their vision in their right eye), hajime catches nagito trying to leave. he'd collapsed on his way out, having gotten incredibly dizzy. he'd left nothing but a note on the nightstand reading, "Be back soon." hajime wakes up to an empty bed and almost (almost) panics, steadies his breaths to the small snores of a sleeping baby in a nearby crib. he finds nagito half unconscious on the beach slumped on a duffel bag. "LET ME GO, LET ME GO, LET ME GO, IM GONNA HURT YOU, IM GONNA KILL YOU, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE-" and hajime starts silently crying too but he just holds on tighter and keeps walking. i think they get to the cabin and hajime sets him down on the bed and nagito starts punching hajimes chest (not hard) but hajime just grabs his wrists and holds them tight as nagito struggles and cries softly. "i ruined your life..me and this broken body of mine." "i...love you. you're not broken. I'm not leaving and neither are you." "i hate you..." "you're the best thing that ever happened to me." "lets go to bed. we'll see mikan in the morning. get some rest." nagito is still scratching at his skin when hajime pulls him against his chest and forces nagito to lay down with him. "as many times as it takes for you to believe it." and the conversation pitters off as nagito silently sobs into hajime's chest until he passes out while Hajime rubs small circles into his back and presses kisses to his head. nagito wakes up with his eyes swollen face still tucked into Hajime's chest and he knows hajime's awake bc he can feel his chest vibrating with light hums and soft strokes to his hair. nagito looks up and licks his lips, eyes watering again when he sees hajime's patient gaze, his eyes crinkling in a worried smile, extenuating the eyebags and evident exhaustion. "hinata-kun, i'm so s-" "shhh. none of that. we're seeing mikan in a bit, i already called her. i'm sorry for not noticing what was going on. it must have been so hard dealing with this alone.." "you shouldn't have to deal with it.." "i know." going to see mikan and mikan warns them that Yes nagito is in fact pregnant and the fact that he's just come off of chemo and is still in remission is gonna make the pregnancy tough on him physically and that he's gonna get about as sick as he was before but promises it's temporary and that she guarantees he'll see the baby to full term ("link that's medically incorrect" idc link does what he wants Hajime has a dude put in his head via lobotomy science is a liar sometimes) and hajime holds nagito's hand the entire time and presses a kiss to his cheek when he cries a little when mikan says the baby will be healthy and ok and survive and nagito turns to him and gives him a watery smile before laughing and crying joyously a little more and thats when hajime knows they'll be ok. they do talk more abt this whole thing, nagito's motives, bebi,,,,but that's like a 1k fic and this post is alr long enough 😅maybe i'll polish it and make it a fic. long story short, hajime's personally extremely happy that nagito's pregnant, but his worry over nagito's health as a whole, physical and mental kinda trumped that but past that- it's nothing but excitement! (they did not know they were having twins...so excitement and a surprise!) as for bebi, they were very happy to be getting a sibling! they love mimicking everyone they see by talking to their papa's tummy, touching it, generally babbling to komahina how they're gonna share their toys with the baby, will the baby play with them, can they share a room? they always want more love in their life !
