Hello everyone!!! I'm doing some dark sketches today. Meet Izumi and Bumi's youngest daughter, Hina. In my version of the canon with my friend, she travels across continents, and in this one she strives to take the place of her mother and become the next dictator.

Iroh gets caught in a storm in this universe and was declared dead, which gave her a chance to become an heiress. Iroh renounces his family and finds peace with the airbenders and confronts his parents in the final battle.

Iroh and Hina are called "Blue Spirits" because of the color of their flames. Izumi and Bumi are unaware of their enmity and the power of competition. For them, both of their children are the most valuable thing they have.

And I also started the picture with Toph, Lin and Su, and I intend to finish it within, I don't know, a week?

So I love that the entire fandom called Izumi Ursa for years before her name was revealed, and now that we still don't know her daughter's name, we're going with the same one.

So here's my little HC of how she ended up being Ursa when Izumi really didn't want it, which I mentioned in my new Linzumi on the beach fic, but which I'll go into more detail about here.

Naming Iroh after her grandfather was the most natural thing in the world. Her father cried, the rest of Team Avatar nodded in approval, and the Fire Nation loved him. But then her Aunt Azula (whom she's very close to because she's healed and is the best aunt ever) was the only one who complained that she condemned him to a life under the shadow of stupid tea.

Anyway, Izumi, being an only child, refused to let Iroh be one, so when she looked for a second child, everyone held their breath. If it was a boy, everyone would look at Iroh and Ozai's relationship, and if it was a girl, then they would compare them to Zuko and Azula, so she knew it wouldn't be easy either way, but she waited, firm in her decision, not even looking at names yet, while the Gaang Jr. mocked her for her lack of originality, despite her reminding them that Kya and Bumi weren't new names either.

The thing was, her grandmother became seriously ill, and despite all her faults as a mother, Ursa was a great grandmother, pampering her just like the rest of the family did, despite the mixed feelings she had because she actually see the tension whenever her grandma was around her aunt Azula. The years still took their toll, and the doctors didn't give them much encouragement until everyone, without saying anything, realized that Ursa was only holding on so she could meet her new great-grandchild.

The birth was complicated, despite having Katara and Kya with her. She knew it would definitely be her last, and it was only when they placed her daughter in her arms that she finally sent for the flower book to choose a name for her, something new and beautiful that would have more to do with the nation's new era of flourishing and not its period of war.

But then, two days later, when she was able to visit her grandmother Ursa and introduce her to her daughter, his heart broke when she saw the hope in her eyes as she held her, the only glimmer in those final days. Then her heart sank when she told her that she already had Iroh as her grandfather, so she asked with hope if her daughter would be named after her grandmother.

At that moment, she knew she was finished and that she couldn't refuse, so she granted her last wish.

Zuko cried again, but no one dared to laugh at Izumi again for her originality, especially since no one dared to tell Azula what her great-niece would be called.

Izumi didn't dare look at her face, if she was upset about Iroh she didn't want to see how furious she would be about Ursa so she tried to stay away blaming her recovery until the funeral, she never told her that Azalea was among her favorites and Azula refused to call her by her name until Ursa started talking.

Is Izumi's daughter even canon? As far as I know, she was a scrapped plot point.

Izumi's daughter is 100% canon.

In the commentary of the episode "The Coronation", Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino, Joshua Hamilton, and Tim Hedrick discuss Izumi, her daughter, and the reasons for the Fire Nation's lack of role in the story, and Mike verifies Izumi's daughter's existence.

who's iroh ii's sister??

We have no idea! The idea of Izumi having a daughter is only mentioned in the B4 DVD commentary as a character and romantic side plot (for Mako) that was dumped in trimming down the story line. However, I love the idea of Iroh having a little sister so I've included her in my own headcanons as Princess Tai, a kind and bubbly girl ten years his junior who loves Iroh to absolute pieces even though he can be a bit of a dumbass. She's bright and takes her duties seriously but is far more of a homebody and much less ambitious than her brother. She loves the Fire Nation and its history and customs in a way that he can't. Tai is generally well-liked and a leader in her own right in areas that interest her like FN culture, where she takes a hand in organizing a lot of the major celebrations and exhibits. She misses her brother something awful but out of everyone in the family probably understands him the best, too, and knows that trapping him in the palace would be terrible for him as well as deprive the world of all that he could be. Iroh for his part welcomes Tai's perspective as a trusted advisor and would happily incinerate anyone who so much as looks at her funny. This is my sunshine x grumpy platonic pairing and I love them.

I've seen many different versions of Izumi's daughter over the years from talented writers and they're all so different, from a swashbuckling adventurer to an accomplished historian to a challenged older sibling to the future Firelord. They're fun to read and I hope we get to keep them instead of something official coming from Avatar Studios.

The Fox That Stole Away The Night, Chapter 2

It was the morning of their estimated arrival… and eventually, the airship landed, opening their doors onto the Earth Continent. People left the airship and approached him head on. Iroh, though he had rather helped the people in the back, took the mission he was given, stirring it into hopefully some success.

Few people remember, but my friend and I had a dark version of history, where Izumi became a dictator, and Bumi her loyal general and secret husband. Recently we decided to redraw a couple of old works and I got the idea to draw their family portrait (without Bumi's face, of course, this is illegal).

• Bumi and Izumi are passionate lovers, ready to go to any cruelty for each other. In this story, they made the wrong choice, choosing the path of war and blood to be together and take the throne together. In this story, Izumi is against a fictitious marriage with a stranger, and Bumi is the one who saves her.

Bumi renounces his family and swears allegiance to the new Firelord, his secret wife. He also tortured Zuko for years, who forced Izumi to marry against her will for the sake of preserving his own honor. In the eyes of everyone, Bumi is a madman who blindly believes in an equally crazy dictator, but in the eyes of their family he is a caring father and husband who understands how far they have come, but is ready to go to the end.

• Hina (we like this name more than Mizuki) is a more coldly aloof version of Azula, who respects her older brother, but is ready to take the throne at the behest of her mother.

• Iroh II, on the contrary, as in the canon, is more like his father and does not want to take on such a big responsibility. He is a ruthless warrior, forced to fight for the idea of his parents, but once in the temple, he renounces the throne and his family.

After the fall of Iroh's army, he is presumed dead, which finally drives his parents crazy. Now they aim to achieve the initial at any cost - to enslave all continents.

i will die on the hill of izumi and lin being moms. because iroh II and ursa II were the cutest kids to ever exist and i will not be told otherwise. iroh loved to sleep between them, usually facing izumi and lin with an arm over them. ursa couldn't be separated from lin when she was around and she would hold izumis hand and hide under her robes when nervous 😭😭
