ngl (I’m pity n grumpy leave me aloneeee) another reason why izu////ocha doesn’t feel that clearly obvious for me is how there’s no teasing from Bakugou about it. He is a total nerd too, ofc, but he is obsessed with Izuku and notices things not only about him, but others around as well if Midoriya pays attention to them -the Todoroki drama for example. Don’t you think he would notice he has 100% a crush on her and tease him about it? I think, coming from dudebros who know Katsuki is important for Izuku but as a rival friend, theres this expectation of him teasing Izuku about liking her and being too much of a nerd to confess, and yeah, if that was the intention, it would make sense for him to do stuff like that, showing the develop of their healthy friendship AND izu///ocha at the same time. But we just don’t get that. Like at all. And thinking about it, Katsuki narrating that chapter/episode “for all of his triumphs, he was still just a damn nerd”, could be interpreted that way. “Katsuki is teasing him about being too much of a nerd to realize Ochako likes him”. But he doesn’t appear directly in that chapter, just with his words thru Present Mic’s voice. If this was about him not noticing Ochako’s obvious crush, he could have said he is a “late bloomer” (I hope I’m using the expression correctly!), or even a young boy at heart to notice those things, you know? There was no reason to have his spirit in that moment.

And at this point, because he has never done something like that nor picking up on his inability to talk to girls, and all the softness he has shown for their future together, I can’t imagine him going that way without it sounding out of character. Who is that? That’s not my gremlin blorblo with too many feelings for his heart. That’s just… not him, right?

Mizu and Single Mother!Reader Short Imagines

This goes on for several minutes until she gives up and lets him teeth on them.

One night, your toddler wakes from a nightmare. He doesn’t seem to want his mother, pushing against your chest with agitation. “No!” he wails. Mizu comes into the main room, hair ruffled from sleep. Both of your eyes widen when he flings himself toward her, sobbing “Izu! Izu!” She’s frozen for a moment, caught more off guard than any ambush on the road. Afo has a storage quirk, and despite what everyone thinks, it doesn't hold torture devices or dead bodies. No, it holds snacks and water bottles because Izuku can't take care of himself.

He's a menace to everyone, and in everything, it only makes sense he's a menace with his family. 😌

One thing that bothers me is the lack of depth about Izuku's family, like we only know Inko, his mother, but we don't know anything about Izuku's other family members, like how they react when they know that Izuku is quirkless. Hisashi, who is a mysterious figure, who Horikoshi said would have a role in the story, seems like he forgot or even ignored it to end the manga quickly.

I have had many conversations with @mikeellee talking about izuku's lack of family members, the reasons, and how that reflects onto his only family member: inko Midoriya.

Now inko is certainly an interesting character. She is the protagonists mother yet she is very neglectful and lacks a lot of emotional boundaries with her child.

I personally label her as a neglectful parent. She is abusive to izuku in the form of neglect! She is a bad mother, and the series has the potential to do something with that, yet it doesn't (or it can be argued that it does, yet does it very badly)

Inko and Izuku only having one another could be an interesting plot point that delves deeply into inko's character and honestly adds tragedy to her. She has no one except of izuku, her husband is non-existent, she has no job or social life, her life is connected to izuku, and it's cruel. Personally, I think if someone wants to execute this idea, it would be difficult but very much doable just hard.

However, introducing family members to izuku would probably be the better option, in my opinion. Allowing for us to explore the midoriya family, their interests, how they help shape who izuku and inko are today, introducing conflicts with them and even developing them as they're own characters who may help izu or add to the worldbuilding.

This, for example, could be done with hisashi midoriya izuku's father. For all we know, he is in America working abroad, so why don't we see him? Why don't we see what america is like in mha through the lenses of hisashi who could interact with his son and use that to add more to the worldbuilding.

for my anime (MHA) fans, i read this fic a few years ago can anyone pls help me find it🙏🏽

bakugou was neighbors with this girl (y/n obviously) who was a baker (?). he was a single dad with a daughter (i think her name was katsumi but i could be completely wrong) who really took a liking to her. i don’t fully remember the stuff in between but i do think i remember her hanging out with baby girl while bakugou was out doing his hero work and then something happened and the two of them fell into the water and neither could swim but y/n saved bakugou’s daughter and the two got separated. y/n woke up in the hospital and bakugou confessed his love and the two finally got together and katsumi was so happy she could finally call y/n “mommy”. it had multiple parts

it was also in the same universe as this fic where y/n was a single mom with a son named ren (?) and he was like OBSESSED with red riot (kirishima) and i think he used to watch clips of him on tv 24/7 then this one time they went to the park and just so happened to see him there and the lil boy like flipped out and ran to him😭 then i think they like purposely went to the park constantly bc the baby wanted to see kiri so bad it was adorable and i can’t remember full details from this either but i know he didn’t pronounce kiri’s name right which made it even more cute. ren’s bio dad popped up somewhere near the end too and kiri had to defend ren and his mama. this had multiple parts as well

there was supposed to be different storylines like a path with denki and i think something for izu as well but i don’t think the author ever completed them (correct me if im wrong).

if any of this sounds familiar to any of you pls lmk cuz i’d love to reread these stories and refresh my memory😭 they were the cutest things i’ve ever read. i used to reread them constantly and i thought I reblogged them but maybe not? or maybe i just have to look harder? idkkkk

Just want to say your post about Izu is really good and correct. I do have many grievances with how Izu was handled (I will forever say Hori hates him) and I too thought he would change, how he would see more of him...we don't even saw his father's photography.

Anyway, thanks for the post/answer and I hope I wasn't come across as rude. I just find so annoyingly unfair how Izu was written but everyone has different opinions regarding different characters and medias. Once again thank you.

You know, I was REALLY, REALLY looking forward to seeing Izuku's dad. Even in just one panel wishing for his son to win, you know? They could have also drawn him with Izuku's mom in the final chapters. The author told us he'd reveal Izuku's dad but that was really one of the only things he blatantly lied to us about. He was good about telling us the truth usually. Who is Hisashi Midoriya? A deadbeat? A guy who's really into his work? Izuku never even thinks about the guy when he's near death. That moment when he felt Muscular would kill him was a time he thought of his loved ones, and not a peep. That time when All Might came to Izuku's house and begged his mom to let Izuku continue to go to UA, Inko didn't say anything about having to talk to her husband, or what her husband thought. All those times that Izuku was in the hospital, we didn't see his dad visit. I think he doesn't have a dad honestly. It's too bad.

I'm here to say ...with all the criticisms we throw at MHA (and they deserve even if we do have to keep in mind the story is sent in Japan by japanese audience first) is how Afo has to be stupid, most characters have to be stupid for this plot to even make sense...the plot Hori wants.

Everyone (sans Izu. When he does look cool, relax, Hori will fix that) looks cool but it has no substance.

Afo has to be really stupid....bc if he was smart the story WOULD change.

The abusers won (I saw a post talking how Endy's arc was well done in MHA bc he did break some societal norms and never rejected his son, for them, it was a big deal and yeah I can see that. We, westerns, didnt like it bc we have stories where abused victims get revenge...it's normal to us expect characters like dabi get revenge and even a happy ending...not for Japan)

So yes, MHA is riddle with stupid characters bc Hori CAN'T develop anyone or anything. That's the thing..he can't write. He doesn't want to write Izuku happy and winning against BK. He could have done that...hell, if Izuku's abuse is a issue for his beloved...Hori could have tweaked and let Izu won, be confident and ignore BK...and the abuse is "over" we get a confident Izu. As Hori avoids to mention what his beloved did.

He didn't do that.

Shiga get a bad ending but his death is better than Izuku's life. Amazing when you think like that... Izuku's childhood was worse than Shig...Shig had a decent childhood (yes, Kotaro was abusive. Not saying he wasn't...but Tenko had more than Izuku)
