I have people tell me often that I am too pretty to be single, too old to be single, and too smart to be single. It use to make me feel like I am hard to love but so many of you show me that is an inaccurate opinion I had of myself. Truth is I am single because I had closed off myself to possibilities hoping for one to eventually choose me. It was intentional and it was safe. I thought didn't have to grow or expand and the Universe busted my bubble hard. Today I realized what hurts more than the realization that you've lost a best friend. It's the awareness that you were cast away like a broken toy. It's scrolling through the pictures of the two of you and knowing that you mean nothing to the person anymore. That those pictures don't exist in her phone because she never wanted them. It's the yearning to call her and vent or cry or fucking have a normal conversation, without someone asking if you're okay or how you're doing. Because you know she won't. She never did. Not even when you called holding back tears. Not when you felt like you were drowning. Not even when you showed up to practice the day your favorite person in the world died and you had to sprint to the bathroom to cry. It's knowing that none of your pain and sadness mattered to her, but her's mattered to you. It's knowing that you got cast aside for a man child 9 years her senior, and she didn't even have the common decency or nerve to tell you. But you're the bad guy. That you ended the friendship because you got tired of calling to vent and getting cut off by her droning on about the freshman she claimed she wasn't infatuated with or the poisonous ex that she was addicted to like he was heroin. It's knowing that even after you've come to the realization that you meant nothing to her, you still want what you thought you had. You still want that apartment you'd planned to share. You still want the dumbass contact names. You still want happiness and light and love for her. You still want your best friend. She doesn't. Kailani wasn’t wholly surprised to see paparazzi at the church. The couple had been discrete upon their arrival to Italy but there was always papz at LAX ready to troll where celebrities were jetting off to. Micah and Aless��� home in Umbria was private enough to prevent the immediate buzz, but on the busy streets of the famous church there was no longer the silent romance of Italy. They kept their distance, snapping away with long lenses and not yelling at the wedding’s guests, but Kai still noticed them. As she wasn’t part of the wedding party but needed to care for Benji, she’d arrived early with the wedding party.

Benji had never been a particularly fussy baby, but in hopes to keep him down for the service, Kailani sat playing with him on a pew until a few people trickled in. With his little suit on she tucked a bib under his chin and slipped into a bathroom to feed him. Humming “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” she lulled the little prince to sleep, adjusting herself, and cleaning the dribble from his chin before heading back out to find Aubrie and pass the sleeping bundle on. Sirius and Malte followed her around the entire time until Malte parted ways to stick with Benji. Security was such a rhythm she was used to she was no longer bothered by it, but Sirius seemed on edge in the new place and Kai didn’t bother him with a discussion when he was so focused on everyone’s safety.

Sirius led her to a seat, but Kai wagged her finger and insisted on sitting on Aless’ side. With a huff he nodded but checked the pews before letting her take a seat. A few heads turned but not many. Kai waved across the isle at Micah’s family she’d previously met. Then, she turned her attention to the rest of the crowd trickling in, waving at her friends from Los Angeles that had made the trip for their mutual friends. That was when she notice Thane walking in with Genaya. As Callum ushered them in she nearly stood up when Sirius placed his hand on her shoulder and locked eyes with Callum who nodded and led them over. As soon as Thane was on the pew next to her she leaned in and whispered, “Sirius is very serious about me not bringing attention to myself. Anyways, I’ll have you know that there are few things cuter than Benji’s itty bitty tuxedo. So, prepare yourselves!”

This exercise is a #jazz #mambo #fell that I take from transcriptions of #elvinjones the #rythm has been playing across many #drummers and in many songs in jazz time history but I just toked from song like #equinox #juju (I know it's slower) #iwishyoulove probably because of the lack of information we just know that he made this #swingmambo adaptation learning #afrocuban in streets and apliy variations at the moment of play. I know that sounds easy in fact is not that complicated but the #tricky part is recognizing and apliy the language.
