#transformationtuesday The girl on the left idolized the girls in the magazines, the women on television. She saw beauty as a single digit number on a tag, as an ever declining figure on a scale. She whittled away every bit of herself to fit into this tiny little box labeled 'beauty' and it was literally killing her. The girl on the left looks up to athletes of all calibers and flavors. She sees beauty as the poetry her body makes as she executes a lift or gymnastic movement. She fights everyday to love herself in a world that tells her she's too masculine, too big, too bulky, too much. But she doesn't care because her worth comes from her work ethic, from the way she treats the people around her. The only weight metric that matters to her are the plates on the bar, the readout on the rower, treadmill, or assault bike, and the number of reps in a workout. It's been a long nearly seven years and she will beat the frail girl who from time to time claws her way to the forefront. Apparently I just love putting myself through pain. This was my first half marathon...it was painfully awesome!! So much so I have run it every year since. Oh those hills are no joke! I want to perfect my lifts and ideally add weight to them, learn and train gymnastic movements, and continue to work on body weight movements along with running.
