Propaganda
Jeanne Moreau (Jules et Jim, Elevator to the Gallows, The Night)—Oh my. What a career! She's worked with directors from all over the world! Luis Buñuel, Tony Richardson, Bertrand Blier, Elia Kazan, André Téchiné, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Wim Wenders, Amos Gitai, Theo Angelopoulos, Michelangelo Antonioni, Orson Welles, Jacques Demy, Joseph Losey, François Truffaut... She played good and she played evil, Machiavellian and sweet, she could do it all. She's magnetic, her mouth is sensual, her gaze direct and demanding, she's absolutely unforgettable. […] Iconic Jules & Jim scene where she's singing; I picked a link with English subtitles. […] What can I say? She's an ICON, pure and simple. [editor’s note: this was very good propaganda but I had to remove a large amount of it because it discussed her post-1970 career. Please keep your propaganda to items within our window of 1910-1970!]
Abbey Lincoln (Nothing but a Man, For Love of Ivy)—abbey lincoln was an actress, jazz vocalist, songwriter, and civil rights activist; in her acting career she's most noted for starring in nothing but a man, an independent drama about a black couple navigating life in a small town that's been called an important example of american neorealism, and for love of ivy, a romantic comedy co-starring sidney poitier
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]

June 1940: Humor Lightens War Mood
June 7, 1940 - Tyler Morning Telegraph
By Dorothy Kilgallen
Clark Gable and Carole Lombard are confirming the baby item (first printed here) to close friends. They sent one pair of new parents a congratulatory wire saying, “Nice going - you beat us, but not by much…”
June 8, 1940 - The Emporia Gazette
A New Face
Carole Lombard still is the champion “comeback” artist of Hollywood in the realm of “ribs.” Recently, she contracted poison ivy, which swelled her face. Husband Clark Gable has been kidding her unmercifully about her hampered glamour. So when he returned from work the other evening, there was Carole in bed wearing a mask of a gorgeous girl, something she’d borrowed from a sculptor friend.
June 9, 1940 - The San Francisco Examiner
Carole Lombard and Clark Gable keep each other’s dressing room stocked with red roses - which mean “I love you.”
June 11, 1940 - The Herald News
For puttering around her ranch, Carole Lombard wears a pair of “Roman warrior” sandals of natural calf, with either shorts or slacks. The shoes are a copy to the last strap of those the expert say were worn in ancient Rome.
June 12, 1940 - Times Herald
The other night Luise Rainer entered Chasen’s with Garson Kanin. Now Chasen’s is a place where no one bothers or pays any attention to a celebrity. This particular night, Clark Gable was there dining with Carole Lombard.
June 22, 1940 - The Dispatch
Comedy helps actors submerge talk of war
War talk was forgotten and gags flew thick and fast on at least one Hollywood movie set recently. Ringleader in the festivities was Carole Lombard, recovered from an attack of poison oak and ready to go to work with Charles Laughton in a film version of the late Sidney Howard’s play, “They Knew What They Wanted.”
When the movie troupe came on the sound stage, a banner unfurled from the cat walks above. “Carole Lombard welcomes you,“ it told everybody.
Not to be out done in gaiety, director Garson Kanin and the portly Laughton produced an accordion player and went into a buck-and-wing dance. Then the company presented Janet Fox, newcomer from Broadway, with a birthday cake.
It was a complete reversal of the conventional Hollywood procedure. Movie troupes usually give parties when a picture is finished, but things are different these days. Anything goes if it will build morale.
June 25, 1940 - The Wichita Beacon
Lombard in Kansas?
Actress believed to have passed through Wichita in car
Carole Lombard, the movie actress, is believed to have passed through Wichita early Monday morning on her way to California. Miss Lombard, who in private life is Mrs. Clark Gable, was identified while eating breakfast in Pratt. She was traveling with her brother and another woman in a yellow sedan. Miss Orva Moon, a waitress, identified the famous actress, whom she said “didn’t look like anyone very famous.”
June 25, 1940 - Los Angeles Evening Citizen News
Film luminaries in golf tournament
Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, two of Hollywood’s brightest stars, are shown as they strode down the fairway during the annual MGM golf tournament over the Fox Hills course.
June 28, 1940 - The Des Moines Register
Lux Theatre is reported to be negotiating for the costarring services of Clark Gable and his wife Carole Lombard…
June 29, 1940 - Napa Journal
Right now, construction of the film sets where “They Got What They Wanted” is nearing completion at the Nick Fagiani Ranch east of Oakville. Soon Charles Laughton, Carole Lombard and William Gargan, plus the lesser film figures to appear in the picture, will be in our midst. It is reported that Clark Gable, though he will have no part in the picture, will accompany Miss Lombard, his wife.
June 29, 1940 - The San Francisco Examiner
Carole Lombard and Clark Gable are planning to buy a ranch in Arizona for a between-flicker hideout…

Lux Interior, Bryan Gregory, Nick Knox & Poison Ivy during The Cramps sessions with Alex Chilton in Ardent studios in Memphis, as captured by Pat Rainer in 1977.
Their acquaintance led them down to Memphis and Sam Phillips’ Sun Studio, the mythical place where Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis had made rock ‘n’ roll history, and to the production of their legendary debut releases, the Gravest Hits EP & the Songs the Lord Taught Us LP.
(pastemagazine.com): “…The Cramps shared Chilton’s musical taste, reveling in underappreciated rockabilly obscurities it takes a musical connoisseur to discover… By the end of the year, Chilton would call the Cramps “the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world…In October, he brought them down to Memphis to produce their first singles (…) As music engineer Richard Rosebrough recalls: “I’ve seen the strangest people walk in and out of the front door of Phillips. When [the Cramps] walked in, I was just sitting in the lobby, and Bryan [Gregory] comes in, dressed in black from head to toe, bleach blond hair over half his face, and he’s wearing this holster strapped to his leg with a real long pistol in it. He walked in the front door, walked right past the desk, on back into the studio. The holster was just, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak. He had bought this brand new leather holster to put this gun in. Brand new leather squeaks. You’ve got to oil it, work with it, settle it in. I thought, ‘What a scene, what a display…’
According to photographer Pat Rainer:
“I was hanging out, shooting photos. I enjoyed watching Alex being the producer. The Cramps being in Memphis, in the South at that time… I’ve heard people say the way they looked they stopped traffic. But Memphis in the 70s…it was already a weird, wild place, so I think they actually fit in pretty good. They seemed normal. But live and in performance the Cramps were anything but normal. They were really fun.”

OC Interview Meme
I was tagged a while ago by @natsora . Thank you.
I’ll tag @alyssalenko and anyone who sees this.
I’ve done this before with Kira Ryder & Adam Shepard
1. What’s your name?
Marc Daniel Shepard
2. Do you know why you are named that?
*shifts in chair* I’m an orphan who survived the streets so... no idea. Next question.
3. Are you single or taken?
Taken.
4. Have any abilities or powers?
I’m a certified Combat Engineer and Explosive Expert with training in assault rifles and pistols.
5. Stop being a Mary Sue.
...Are you serious?
6. What’s your eye color?
Blue
7. How about your hair color?
Black.
8. Have any family members?
*shifts in chair* No. Next question.
9. Oh? How about any pets?
I have a space Hamster, Tesla, and some fishes.
10. That’s cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don’t like.
They’re quite a few things I hate, but I’d rather not talk about those. If I had to mention one, it would be my hate for politics. Then again, who doesn’t hate politics besides those who always benefit from it? Especially when they take advantage of those who can’t defend themselves...
11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
I’m an avid reader. Name one book and there’s a good chance I’ve read it. If not, expect it to be added to my list of future books to read during downtime. I also like to take things apart to see how they work and then put them back together again. I also enjoy swimming, weightlifting, chess, and watching historical documentaries.
12. Have you hurt anyone in any way before?
Only when I’m forced to defend myself.
13. Ever… killed anyone before?
Unfortunately, it’s part of what I have to do in my line of work.
14. What kind of animal are you?
Not the kind you can put in a cage.
15. Name your worst habits?
Let’s see... definitely putting a lot of hot sauce in my meals. No, I don’t do that with all my meals, but those MREs we’re forced to eat sometimes definitely deserve the treatment.
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
I’ve had a few CO’s I’ve looked up to over the years, including Anderson. All of them have made a positive impact on my life.
17. Are you gay, straight or bisexual?
Straight.
18. Do you go to school?
Not since ICT. I had to earn my GED after joining the Alliance. My test scores earned me the opportunity to attend any Ivy League school on Earth, but I chose not to take that path for personal reasons.
19. Ever want to marry and have any kids one day?
Maybe. If it happens, it’s happens. If anything, I like the idea of adopting one or two kids and give them the chance I didn’t have.
20. Do you have any fangirls/fanboys?
*Tries not to think about Conrad Verner* Ugh, don’t remind me, please...
21. What are you most afraid of?
*shifts in chair* That’s classified. Next question.
22. What do you usually wear?
When I’m not in uniform, I’m most comfortable in loose fitting hoodies and jeans.
23. What one food tempts you?
Chilies! The spicier, the better!
24. Am I annoying you?
...Maybe.
25. Well, it’s still not over!
*Pinches bridge of nose and takes a deep breath*
26. What class are you (low/middle/high)?
I guess middle?
27. How many friends do you have?
I have plenty of friends, but I only keep a few close.
28. What are your thoughts on pie?
I’m more of a cobbler person. I know they’re relatively the same, but I just happen to like the texture on a cobbler more.
29. Favorite drink?
Definitely coffee. Also club soda, and bourbon.
30. What’s your favorite place?
I have 3 favorite places. It’s hard to choose just one.
1) On Earth in Seattle, back when I was living in the streets, I used to climb to the roof of a particular building. It was tall enough to see a lot beyond the city limits. The weather’s dreary for most of the year, but whenever it was clear, I take the opportunity to climb up that building and just stare at Mt. Rainer for hours.
2) Believe it or not, space itself. I never left Earth until the day I was shipped to Arcturus Station to begin my GED courses. I still remember being in awe of seeing the nebula and all the planets we passed by. It’s been years, and I still get that same feeling whenever I look out a port side window.
3) I’ve only visited this place twice within the last 10 years, but there’s a quiet spot in Elysium, far from any nearby colonies or cities. It reminds me of those pictures of the countryside in England. I camped there for the first time not long after the Blitz. It’s one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever been to.
31. Are you interested in anyone?
Yes, I am.
32. That was a stupid question…
ಠ_ಠ ...You asked.
33. Would you rather swim in the lake or the ocean?
I actually enjoy swimming very much, so I don’t mind either.
34. What’s your type?
I like someone who is intelligent. There’s something nice about listening to someone talking about their hobbies and passions in detail and with enthusiasm.
35. Any fetishes?
...Next question.
36. Camping indoors or outdoors?
Outdoors’ more fun... especially right now!
-Runs out of the interview room and slams the door behind him-

Quote
See here, This wreath is so heavy. And they will lay it upon you, This heavy wreath. Can your coffin endure it? If it breaks Under the black weight, Into the folds of your dress Will creep Ivy. Far up will it twine, All around you will it twine...

also (associate of sarah baldwin, ghost bullet slaughter rage victim, employee of the magnus institute with a very complicated relationship to The Archivist) melanie king's father was a resident of ivy meadows care home, which was overtaken by the corruption and eventually burned down by hunt avatars trevor herbert and julia montauk. julia montauk's father, robert montauk, was a member of the people's church of the divine host and a personal associate of, among others, maxwell rayner. maxwell rainer was a friend and associate of eye avatar and founder of the magnus institute jonah magnus, and vast avatar simon fairchild, as well as a longtime friend of the lucas family (oxymoron).
no, yeah, no aspect of this is confusing.
okay it's very simple. jane prentiss was coworkers with oliver banks. oliver was also exes with graham the notebook eater. oliver was also friendly with annabelle. annabelle had a whole puppet/puppet master thing going on with neil lagorio. neil was exes with gabriel the worker in clay. neil never worked on that dexter banks (no relation)(...unless?) spider movie, but he had been rumored to. gertrude killed gabriel, and she herself was involved in that whole agnes/jack/jude fiasco, and jude was casual friends with nikola orsinov and mike crew. mike crew was childhood friends with dominic swain from mag 4, and also he facilitated jared hopworth getting his hands on the boneturner's tale. it's not confusing at all when you think about it.

New reformation center boosts Tarlac's anti-drug war
#PHnews: New reformation center boosts Tarlac's anti-drug war
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga –The first-ever Balay Silangan Reformation Center in the province of Tarlac was inaugurated on Monday, in line with the government’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs.
Situated in Barangay Danzo, Gerona town, the facility will serve as a temporary refuge for drug offenders to reform them into self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society.
The inauguration ceremony was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 3 (PDEA-3) headed by regional director Christian Frivaldo.
Other officials who attended the event include Gerona Mayor Eloy Eclar, PDEA Tarlac provincial officer Joyiann Ivy Cedo, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial director Belina Herman, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration (DPDA) of Tarlac Police Provincial Office, Lt. Col. Ma. Theresa Pucay and Gerona chief of police Lt. Col. Neil Rainer Mercado.
Frivaldo thanked the local officials of Gerona for their support to PDEA as he urged all local government officials, stakeholders to back the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
The Balay Silangan program will be jointly implemented by the municipal government of Gerona and the PDEA.
During the inauguration, a memorandum of agreement was signed by PDEA and local officials for the implementation of the undertaking.
The program is reformatory in nature and is an alternative intervention for drug personalities who are not qualified to undergo medical treatment and rehabilitation in facilities supervised by the Department of Health.
Interventions provided in the program include continuing education and health awareness, and psychological/spiritual/physical activities like counselling, moral recovery, values formation, and personal life skills. Livelihood and skills training are also provided under the program.
Aside from PDEA and DILG, there are other partner agencies tasked to oversee the implementation of the program. (PNA)
