Fertility Tourism Market Size & Forecast 2025-2035
Industry Outlook
The Fertility Tourism market accounted for USD 0.92 Billion in 2024 and is expected to reach USD 17.5 Billion by 2035, growing at a CAGR of around 30.8% between 2025 and 2035. Fertility tourism refers to the process by which people travel to another country to seek treatments for infertility, which include IVF, egg/sperm donation, or surrogacy. They include low charges, legal requirements, or the existence of better treatment alternatives in the patient’s home country. Some patients prefer fertility tourism to get better success stories, technology, or procedures that are banned in the country. Frequently visited countries are those that boast a stable healthcare system and permissive legislation on reproductive services.

Market Dynamics
Access to advanced reproductive technologies attracts international patients seeking treatments.
Several factors give rise to fertility tourism among patients, including the high cost of treatment in the patient's home country, readily available advanced techniques, and freedom in legal measures on ARTs of different countries. Almost every patient wants to find a place where new methods of treatment or technologies, such as preimplantation genetic testing or freezing of eggs, are used at affordable prices. Besides, several countries permit ART and surrogacy, and egg donation draws patients from other countries seeking personalized treatment, onsite care, and niche services.
It was estimated by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine that about 7.4 million women in the United States are infertile, placing them in a situation to seek services in other countries, especially where the service is inadequate or too costly. It further supports our belief in the increased need for extended fertility services within the international healthcare market.
Lack of insurance coverage increases out-of-pocket costs for patients.
The Fertility Tourism market embodies several limitations related to fiscal and governance constraints. There is still no insurance coverage for fertility treatments, most patients have to incur out-of-pocket expenses. This may discourage anyone who would wish to travel to other countries for treatment because the financial burden can be overwhelming. Furthermore, it is proven that even in different countries, the rules might be different, and this may cause contraindications for patients. That includes various standards of their treatment, the legal aspects of used treatments, and possible difficulties in further treatment.
Other factors likely to discourage would-be patients include distrust over the quality and safety of the facilities in other countries. However, cultural and ethical factors may play a role in the decision-making process. Therefore, people may refrain from traveling to seek other procedures they deem ‘unethical’ or are publicly acceptable by society. All these factors make the decision-making process very complicated by influencing the general growth of the Fertility Tourism Market.
Growing Research and development leads to new fertility treatment options
Fertility Tourism Market has emerged because of the rising need for assisted reproductive technologies, regulations, prices, and accessibility in different countries. Couples looking for better treatments or cheaper ways of having the baby, through IVF, egg donation, or surrogacy, among other services, move around and seek state-of-the-art equipment and services. Spain, Greece, India, and Thailand now benefit from their well-developed medical tourism sectors since they provide global-class fertility services. Fertility tourism itself offers destinations a means to develop their healthcare industries, attract global consumers, and create substantial revenue while offering patients fewer waits and more choices. However, there are issues of ethics, the law, and the safety of patients, which are always probed as this market develops.
Industry Experts Opinion
“As the field of fertility medicine expands, so does Inception, and through effective marketing and communication strategies, we can deliver key educational messages and introduce new products and service line offerings that will enhance the fertility journey for every aspiring parent,"
TJ Farnsworth, CEO and Founder of Inception.
“Infertility is an emotionally charged experience for any couple. During a consumer research we had conducted, we found that nearly 2 in 3 couples undergoing treatment found it extremely challenging, and over 90% couples lacked the financial support for the same. We noted an emerging sentiment of insurance coverage, especially among the Tier-2 population, where the spending capacity on healthcare delivery is extremely limited. This proposition is a unique and first-of-its-kind to be offered to couples,”
Vikas Anand, CEO of SafeTree Insurance said in a statement.
Segment Analysis
Based on the type of treatment, the Fertility Tourism market is classified into In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Artificial Insemination, Egg, Donation and Surrogacy, Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), and Others. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is the dominant type of treatment in the Fertility Tourism Market because many people prefer this method. This treatment is preferred by many due to its efficiency and the level of technology used, and it can deal with most causes of infertility. The treatment is generally less costly in some countries and is one of the core motivators of medical tourism. IVF also presents combined methods such as egg/sperm donation and Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), making the procedure attractive for international clients who need reproductive help.

Discovering Healing Havens: A Guide to Medical Tourism
Reasons for Seeking Medical Care Abroad
One of the primary factors driving the growth of surgical tourism is the high cost of healthcare in developed countries. For many elective and non-emergency procedures, the costs in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and other Western nations have become prohibitively expensive for average citizens and even those with health insurance. Medical tourists are able to travel abroad and receive treatments at a fraction of the price they would pay at home. In many destination countries, the overall package of medical care, travel, lodging and other ancillary costs is 30-90% cheaper than equivalent treatment in a developed country.
Another motivation is shorter wait times. In countries with universal healthcare systems, there can be lengthy waits for non-emergency surgeries and procedures. The average wait time for a hip replacement in Canada is over 6 months, while knee replacements in the UK have 18-month waits. By traveling abroad, medical tourists are able to get treated more quickly without delay. India, Thailand and other popular destinations generally have minimal to no wait times.
Medical Specialties and Treatments Sought
While originally centered around dental care and cosmetic surgeries, medical tourism has expanded to cover a wide range of specialties and treatments. Some of the most common include:
- Cardiology - Angioplasty, angiography, bypass surgery and stent placement are popular cardiological procedures sought by medical tourists.
- Orthopedics - Knee replacement, hip replacement, spinal surgery and arthroscopic procedures feature prominently. The use of robotics and computer navigation systems allows for less invasive techniques.
- Dentistry - Dental crowns, veneers, dental implants and oral surgery make up a major portion of surgical tourism, especially to Thailand, Hungary and Mexico.
- Fertility Treatment - In vitro fertilization (IVF) costs a fraction abroad versus in the Western world. Countries like India, Thailand and Cyprus attract fertility tourists.
- Cosmetic Surgery - Tummy tucks, breast augmentations, face lifts and other aesthetic procedures drive traffic to countries such as Thailand, South Korea and Costa Rica.
- Ophthalmology - Cataract removal and lens replacement surgeries are commonly sought abroad alongside refractive procedures like LASIK eye surgery.
Popular Medical Tourist Destinations
Certain countries have built strong reputations as top destinations in medical tourism. Some of the leaders are:
India - Advanced facilities, JCI-accredited hospitals, large pool of English-speaking doctors and very low costs have made India the world's fastest growing market. The Indian healthcare sector earns over $3 billion yearly from medical tourists.
Thailand - Known especially for quality dental and cosmetic work at bargain prices. Thais are perceived as being quite skillful with bedside manner. Hospitals meet international standards.
Singapore - Highly developed medical infrastructure, including the promotion of integrated surgical tourism clusters with hotels. Singapore attracts Asian patients as well as those from the West.
Malaysia - Healthcare quality equals that of Western countries at half the cost or less. Malaysia Medical Council regulates facilities, and English is widely spoken in the healthcare industry.
Mexico - Popular for procedures like dental work, bariatric surgery, and eye/laser corrective surgeries due to competitive pricing. Many accredited JCI hospitals near the US border.
Challenges and Risks of Medical Tourism
While surgical tourism provides considerable benefits, certain risks and challenges exist that need to be considered. Post-surgical complications may arise, and standards of aftercare can vary in different countries. The legal recourse and patient rights available may not equal what patients expect at home. Medical records and follow-ups may be difficult between multiple healthcare systems. Travel itself poses some health threats like the transmission of new infections or bacterial strains. Cultural differences, language barriers or unfamiliar practices can affect the levels of comfort experienced abroad. Medical tourists need to carefully vet facilities and providers through organizations that accredit and certify hospitals overseas. With prudence, most risks can be minimized to allow patients to reap the rewards of affordable, timely medical care in internationally accredited centers worldwide.
Growth Outlook
The global medical tourism industry was estimated to be worth around $10-40 billion worldwide as per different surveys. Advanced Asia-Pacific destinations capture approximately 45-65% market share of the entire pie while the remainder is split between Latin America, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa and other regions. India alone serves an estimated 150,000-200,000 medical tourists every year currently. Going forward, the worldwide numbers are forecasted to grow substantially in the coming years. Driven by factors like the shrinking value of most foreign currencies against the USD, an expanding medical infrastructure abroad, more trade agreements lowering travel barriers, and persistent high healthcare costs domestically – surgical tourism is emerging as a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide with potential for further significant increase in the future if present trends continue.

Fertility Test Market 2023-2035 CAGR, SWOT Analysis, Factors Driving the Market Growth.
Research Nester released a report titled “Fertility Test Market: Global Demand Analysis & Opportunity Outlook 2035” which delivers detailed overview of the global fertility test market in terms of market segmentation by product, mode of purchase, end-user and region.
Further, for the in-depth analysis, the report encompasses the industry growth indicators, restraints, supply and demand risk, along with detailed discussion on current and future market trends that are associated with the growth of the market.
The global fertility test market is estimated to grow with a moderate CAGR during the forecast period, i.e., 2023-2035. Market growth can be attributed to the increase in the average age of first-time pregnancies across the globe owing to the decrease in first births among teenage women and the rise of first births among women aged over 30 years. OECD Family Database stated that the mean age of first-time pregnancy has increased from 29 to 30 globally by 2019. The declining fertility rate in women and men, along with the rise in the prevalence of disorders, such as, PCOS and obesity, are estimated to promote the market growth. Growing fertility education and the easy availability of fertility monitors through e-commerce websites, pharmacies, and retail shops and drugstores also contribute to the market growth.

The global fertility test market is segmented by product into ovulation prediction kits and fertility monitors. The ovulation prediction kits segment is estimated to hold the highest share owing to advantages, such as, low cost, rising use of ovulation prediction kits, easy availability, and higher accuracy. On the basis end-users, the fertility test market has been segmented into home care settings, hospitals, and fertility clinics. Among these, the home care segment is projected to hold the highest share in the market. The growth of this segment can be attributed to the inclination of patients toward self-monitoring of healthcare conditions, easy accessibility of fertility and ovulation monitors on e-commerce websites, rise availability of easy-to-handle devices, and the growing preference for the confidentiality of test results.
On the basis of region, the market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East & Africa. The market in the Asia Pacific is predicted to grow at the highest CAGR over the forecast period owing to the large population, especially the large young population which falls under the fertility age bracket. Moreover, increasing investment in healthcare infrastructure by government and non-government organization, along with rising awareness regarding sexual health and fertility are estimated to further boost the market growth. Moreover, less competition among players and friendly regulatory policies in developing markets have encouraged companies to focus on emerging countries.

Declining Fertility Rate among Men and Women to Drive Market Growth
According to the CDC data from 2020, US births have been down since 2007, and total fertility rates have similarly declined. Total fertility rates and general fertility rates have both dropped by 4% during 2019, reaching record lows.
Rise in lifestyle disorders among men and women leads to rise in the occurrences of couples opting for IVF or surrogacy which are the major factors growing the fertility testing market. In Japan South Korea, and Singapore, due to low birth rate governments are offering subsidizes in the cost of infertility treatments. However, low precision of test results of fertility test kit and high cost of kit to restrain market growth in the near future.

More than one million employees of Amazon will now have access to a variety of family-building benefits after the e-commerce giant expanded the perks to staff around the world.
Employees will have free virtual access to board-certified OB-GYNs, reproductive endocrinologists (fertility doctors), coaches, and other care providers to support fertility.
They will also receive support for preconception, egg freezing, intrauterine insemination, in vitro fertilization, adoption, and surrogacy.
"Our benefits are designed to care for all our employees' needs, and that means ensuring they have the resources they need to live their best lives, regardless of their personal circumstances," said Lian Neeman, global director of benefits at Amazon, in a media release.
Who is eligible for the benefits?
Eligible employees include full time, part time, and hourly, as well as their partners, from 50 countries around the world including:
Asia-Pacific: Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam
Europe: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Serbia, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom
Latin America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru
Middle East and Africa: Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Arab Emirates
The benefits will be provided through Maven Clinic, with its care advocates to guide Amazon employees in family building and providing referrals to high-quality clinics and agencies.
"Maven is an employee-friendly benefit that takes the guesswork out of the family-building process, which can often be confusing and overwhelming," Neeman said. "Maven's approach to fertility and family-building supports our employees around the world and is tailored to each person."
Kate Ryder, founder and CEO of Maven Clinic, said they are delighted to support Amazon employees around the world in planning and growing their families.
"There are too many barriers to care in healthcare systems that were not built around the needs of women and families, and Amazon is cutting through that complexity by making it exceptionally easy for their employees to access high-quality, personalized care in their own language at any hour of the day or night," Ryder said in a media release.
Amazon's family-building benefits started in the United States in 2019 before they were expanded early this year to Canada.
The e-commerce giant now joins other organisations such as Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan that are extending fertility benefits to employees.
🤨 I know an Amazon worker who was injured on the job, a head injury. Instead of sending him home to see an outside doctor they had him see their in house doctor. He was declared fine but days later he still hasheadaches. The same company is going to give fertility benefits?
Shouldn't a health care site list their health benefits first then talk about their cost effectiveness?

Sperm Allergy?!
Yup. You read that right. Sperm allergy.
I was finally able to go to a new doctor about a month ago. My new doctor is a wonderful woman who actually to time to listen to my concerns, took time to help me find the best possible route to a solution, and all I took was one visit to get my referral to a gyno. Which to me was a “About fucking time!” moment. With the referral she told me that she also suspected I had a sperm allergy.
Now you guys are probably like “the fuck is a sperm allergy?” Well in short I am allergic to my husband’s sperm.
It all started after we go married back in 2015. It was our wedding night and it was our first time together. Not just our first time as a couple making love, nope. It was our FIRST time having sex. At all. That night itself was amazing. Until he finished inside. Then the pain started and I don’t mean like “ we’ve been going at it for a while my vag is sore let’s take a break” pain. I mean PAIN like having a sun burn with 10 paper cuts in the same area, poor lemon juice on it, pour alcohol on it, poor salt on it, and slap it kind of pain. well more like my vag was being set on fire from the inside is what it felt like. However I thought, “Well this is my first time. I know it hurts and the sperm is probably messing with my ph levels. no biggie” but boy did it hurt and I cried for hours hoping the paid would just disappear. But not long after our wedding, my husband was shipped off to S. Korea. (For those wondering he is in the U.S. Army) He was gone for a year. When he came back and we had sex again...same thing. The moment he finished it felt like my vagina had been set on fire. Again I thought, “It’s the first time we have sex since we got married and it’s been a while so it’s just that.” But boy did it hurt so bad. I couldn’t sit, stand, lay down. walk. anything.
Soon after he got back we moved to Texas. And that’s when I really noticed that it was EVERY time we had sex it hurt. Not to the same extent but non of the less there was some sort of pain or discomfort. When I was finally able to go to my first doctor I told her about it . She tested me for STDs, vagintis, bacterial vaginosis, and yeast infection. That first visit established it was bacterial vaginosis. So I’m like “Oh okay, that makes sense.” So she gave me my meds for it, and that was that. A couple months later I was back again. Why? I was still having pain as soon as my husband would finish inside. She does the same test, and again bacterial vaginosis. At this point I was like “That is twice in less than 3 months. What up?” She just said it’s because sperm can though the ph of the vagina off, and that is what triggers it. This goes on for a full year before I’m like...”something is off. This isn’t right.” So here we go again to the doctor. This time become more insistent on figuring out what is wrong. She just says it’s an infection, here are some meds, come back if the infection returns. I ask for a referral to a gyno, her response is “I can’t refer you to a gyno unless your papsmear show’s something abnormal.” At this point it’s been like 2 years. So I was like Fuck this I’m out. Gonna find a new doctor who will listen to me and take me seriously.
In the time it took me to find a good doctor, when i’d get sick (rather than wait a month to get seen by my docotor) I’d go to urgent cares.
And now here is where it all changed with my new doctor. I went in for my first visit with her, and she took me seriously and gave me my referral.
The gyno we went to took me seriously as well, and here’s the thing about sperm allergies, they all vary in severity as well as it’ s already rare as it is. I was my gyno’s first case of sperm allergy. He sent me to an allergist to confirm the sperm allergy.
My appointment with the allergist was yesterday. We are now waiting on lab results for it. However he also did say that it is hard to confirm a sperm allergy because there is really no good way to test for it. As well as starting to discus treatment options. Non of which are fun. I basically have two choices. Get used it or deal with it. And it sucks especially when you are trying to have kids but are allergic to the one thing you need to have babies. At this point it feels like my only two options for a biological child are IVF or artificial insemination. Which of course cost a lot of $$$$$ which we don’t have. And I don’t know what to do. All I want to do is cry.

Global IVF Services Market Research, Size, Witness Stunning Growth By 2028 | The Insight Partners
According to The Insight Partners market research study titled “IVF Services Market Forecast to 2027 – COVID-19 Impact and Global Analysis – by Cycle Type and End User,” the market is expected to reach US$ 31,613.76 million by 2027 from US$ 13,496.29 million in 2019. It is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 11.6% from 2020 to 2027. The report highlights the trends prevalent in the market and the factors driving the market along with those that act as deterrents to its growth.
The growth of the global IVF services market is driven by the increasing incidence of infertility, rising number of fertility clinics and infertility services with government support, and growing number of products launches and developments. However, the high procedural cost of reproductive techniques and risks associated with infertility treatment hinder the market growth.
Sample PDF showcases the content structure and the nature of the information included in the report which presents a qualitative and quantitative analysis –
A few prominent players operating in IVF Services market are Max Healthcare; Bloom IVF; CCRM Fertility.; OXFORD FERTILITY; Create Health (Create Fertility); Medicover; Aevitas Fertility Clinic; BIOART Fertility Clinic; Prelude Fertility, Inc.; and Gift ov life. The companies have maximized their growth with several inorganic strategies to enhance the market value and maintain position in the market. For instance, in March 2019,Prelude Fertility announced a partnership with Inception Fertility. The partnership made Prelude the largest fertility services provider in the US and added Aspire Fertility clinics to the Prelude Network.
In terms of cycle type, the IVF services market is segmented into mobile devices, mobile applications, and enterprise mobility platforms. The fresh IVF cycles segment held the largest market share in 2019, and the same segment is anticipated to register the highest CAGR in the market during the forecast period. Fresh IVF cycles is a shorter process to conceive pregnancy (if the procedure is successful). This advantage of fresh IVF cycles is likely to have a positive impact on the adoption of the procedures, device, and the service sectors. In addition, owing to the high success rate of the procedure in the first attempt, it can be performed even in complicated cases. Thus, the IVF services market for the fresh IVF cycles segment is likely to witness the fastest growth in the coming years.

Baby bust : Can policymakers boost dwindling world fertility rates?
Baby bust : Can policymakers boost dwindling world fertility rates? When Choi Yoon-seo became pregnant in 2020, South Korea paid her $500 — a reward for helping the country address its dire demographic crunch. That year it hit its lowest fertility rate on record at 0.84 children per woman — the lowest in the world. The government in Seoul has since increased the one-off pregnancy gift to around $1,700. But Choi said the idea that the payments would encourage her to have another baby was laughable. “I used up the whole amount on prenatal tests before the halfway point of my pregnancy,” she said. Since her son was born in January 2021, the 40-year-old has struggled with family, societal and economic pressures. She had to give up her job as a social worker and became overwhelmed with “so much guilt over not being able to be a good mother”. The state’s childcare subsidies are “unrealistic” given the cost of living and education in the Korean capital, she said. Seoul’s efforts are not unusual. Developed economies are offering increasing amounts in subsidies to encourage citizens to have more children. But there is little evidence that they are having an effect: fertility rates are falling rapidly across the rich world. “Pronatalist policies haven’t really been shown to consistently change fertility levels,” said Bernice Kuang, a demographer at the University of Southampton, in the UK. You are seeing a snapshot of an interactive graphic. This is most likely due to being offline or JavaScript being disabled in your browser. France was one of the first countries to pioneer such policies. It first introduced financial support for families with three children or more in the 1980s and then upped it to cover those with two children or more from 1994. Allowances have also been given to parents who choose to stop working in order to raise a child and tax credits offered for childcare. More recently, other European countries have followed France’s lead. In 2020, Hungary designated fertility clinics a “strategic” sector and made IVF treatment available for all women. And last year the Italian government introduced incentives aimed at reversing demographic decline which included longer parental leave for fathers. “An Italy without children is . . . destined to slowly grow old and disappear,” prime minister Mario Draghi warned. Baby Bust : The Demographic Crunch Global birth rates are falling and the world’s population will begin to contract in the coming decades. The FT examines why — and whether policymakers can do anything about it. Day 1: How the pandemic affected the baby bust Day 2: China is at the centre of global population crunch Day 3: Can policymakers do anything about it? Day 4: Learning to live with the economic consequences Despite this, European fertility rates are still falling. In France, the rate has dropped from above two children per woman in 2010 to 1.83 in 2021, according to data from the country’s statistics office Insee. A recent bill put forward by politicians from the Republicans party blamed cuts to family support by successive presidents François Hollande and Emmanuel Macron. As evidence in favour of subsidies, demographers cite surveys indicating that couples in some countries are not having as many children as they would like; generally women would like to have around two children, above the actual birth rate in many countries. You are seeing a snapshot of an interactive graphic. This is most likely due to being offline or JavaScript being disabled in your browser. “Low fertility is not because women don’t want kids, but because having kids has become too difficult or costly,” said Lyman Stone, adviser at the consulting firm Demographic Intelligence. Kuang said that lower-income couples needed “financial support and affordable childcare” while higher income couples “need policies which make it easier for working people to balance childcare and, say, school pick-up, with their jobs”. But Kuang cited South Korea’s situation as evidence that other factors were also at play, “such as rigid gender norms and the unequal division of labour within the household”. “Governments want to make it so that women can do childcare as well as work, but some women don’t want to work that hard and some families don’t want to operate that way,” said Kuang. “Can you make it so that men can do more? Like find a way for them to work all day and take care of their kids.” Tomas Sobotka, who leads a research group in comparative European demography at the Vienna Institute of Demography, said there was some evidence that greater gender equality could help. High-income countries with higher fertility — such as Norway, Sweden, Iceland, France, and Belgium — also score highly on different aspects of gender equality. “Higher equality allows especially better-educated women an easier combination of career and family life,” Sobotka said. “Why not allow some of the men to retreat from work for two or three years to take parental leave and then head back to work?” But even so, he questioned whether governments should be trying to intervene in such personal choices. “Governments shouldn’t be making explicit incentives to get women to have more babies than they wish just to fulfil some national quota or their desire to create a small baby boom,” he said. Medical Tourism Market Key Companies Profile, Applications and Trends By 2027
Medical Tourism Market Scope
Market Research Future (MRFR) presumes that the medical tourism market will be worth USD 77.30 Billion by 2027. The medical tourism industry should capture close to 20.5% CAGR between 2020 and 2027 (analysis period).
Medical tourism offers a host of advantages such as latest medical technologies, cost-effectiveness, better healthcare, modern devices, better hospitality, innovative medicines, and personalized care. The medical tourism industry is touted to witness exponential growth in the years to come, in view of the dramatic rise in the number of surgical procedures that do not fall under insurance coverage, like gender reassignment operations, fertility treatment, dental reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery.
Request Free Sample Copy at: https://www.marketresearchfuture.com/sample_request/1975
Mounting unmet medical needs force people to opt for regions offering cost-efficient treatment options. Developments in hospital management also facilitate advances in the medical tourism field, while the appeal of comfortable as well as luxurious stays in medical facilities foster the market share as well. The blossoming geriatric patient base combined with the surging purchasing capacity of the middle-class populace will further uplift the position of the medical tourism industry in subsequent years.
Prominent hubs of medical tourism in Asia Pacific are Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, South Korea, and Japan. Private hospitals as well as global investors see APAC as a highly lucrative business opportunity, leading to sizeable investments in equipment, infrastructure, services, and staff. Not to mention, the Middle East is home to several medical tourism powerhouses, with medical services in these countries gaining popularity owing to their low costs, non-existent queues, and English-speaking, skilled staff.
COVID-19 Impact on the Global Market
The COVID-19 outbreak has had a brutal effect on the medical tourism industry, given the strict lockdown rules, restricting the movement of goods as well as people. In addition, the rising focus of the healthcare workers on managing the novel coronavirus instead of on other cases, the medical tourism market’s value dropped to a large extent. The shutdown of major airlines worldwide following the pandemic also cut down the number of medical tourists.
An overburdened healthcare sector all over the world, in line with shortage of doctors and other medical staff further affected the medical tourism industry. Sharp fall in pharmaceutical production has also been unfavorable for the global market.
Market Segmentation
The medical tourism market has been segregated into treatment type.
The treatment types discussed in the review report include fertility/IVF treatments, oncology/cancer treatments, orthopedic/spine treatments, neurology/neurosurgery treatment, dentistry treatments, cardiovascular/cardiology treatments, and cosmetic treatments.
Regional Insight
The Asia Pacific market for medical tourism is the highest gainer, thanks to the fast-developing countries with improving healthcare infrastructure. APAC forms the biggest share of 43.7% in the global industry, in response to the huge spending on technological advancements and development of cutting-edge medical machinery and equipment. South Korea is a thriving market for medical tourism in the region, with cosmetic procedures enjoying the highest demand among tourists.
Browse Detailed TOC with COVID-19 Impact Analysis at: https://www.marketresearchfuture.com/reports/medical-tourism-market-1975
Thailand’s promising growth is also noteworthy, as the country offers medical tourists cheaper priced cosmetic treatment options. Escalating number of private hospitals, and advances in the healthcare infrastructure add to the APAC market’s worth. However, MRFR recognizes India as an attractive destination as well, with a hoard of medical tourists from developed economies coming here for ayurvedic massages and aromatherapeutic procedures. The availability of top-class, highly skilled medical expertise at reasonable prices in the country attracts patients from overseas. The most extensive demand is witnessed by high-end surgical procedures in India, including hip/knee replacement, cardiac bypass surgery, and more.
Significant Industry Firms
Some of the top firms in the medical tourism industry include Schoen-Kliniken, Samitivej PCL, CHRISTUS MUGUERZA, Anadolu Medical Center, Prince Court Medical Centre, Bangkok Hospital, Fortis Healthcare, Gleneagles Global Hospitals Group, Clemenceau Medical Center, Shouldice Hospital, Bumrungrad International Hospital, Asklepios Kliniken Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH, to list a few.

Asia Pacific Fertility Services Market Size, Share & Growth Projected to Grow at a CAGR of 15.2% during the Forecast Period | BlueWeave
Several factors are contributed to the growth of the Asia-Pacific fertility services market, including the increasing incidence of infertility rates in developing countries as well as medical advancements in the sector...
A recent study conducted by the strategic consulting and market research firm BlueWeave Consulting revealed that the Asia-Pacific fertility services market was worth USD 4.6 billion in the year 2020. According to the study, the market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 15.2%, earning revenue of around USD 12.3 billion by the end of 2027. The Asia Pacific is experiencing a rising rate of infertility due to poor lifestyle habits. Thus, the growth of the Asia Pacific fertility services market can be attributed to increasing prevalence of infertility rates in people belonging to developing countries, along with various medical advancements being made in the domain of fertility treatment. Nevertheless, the high cost of fertility treatments may limit the growth of the market.
Flourishing Medical Tourism in Developing Countries Is Estimated to Boost the Market
Although fertility services involve expensive treatment and procedures, it still is cost-effective in the Asia Pacific as compared to receiving treatment in developed countries like the United States of America or the United Kingdom. This acts as a favorable factor for the growth of the Asia-Pacific fertility services market. For instance, the average cost of receiving an IVF treatment in the United States of America costs around USD 11,000 to USD 12,000 while in India it costs around USD 3,500 to USD 5,000. Several APAC countries have responded to opportunities offered by medical tourism, including India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. These countries offer cross-border medical care for international tourists in an increasingly globally competitive environment. With flourishing medical tourism in countries like India, China, South Korea, the fertility services market is projected to boost significantly in the foreseeable future.
Increasing Average Age of Conceiving Is Boosting the Asia-Pacific Fertility Services Market
Health experts claim that the demand for fertility services is likely to increase in the upcoming years. One of the major factors driving the growth of the Asia-Pacific fertility services market is the increased age of parenthood. The global median age for bearing the first child has increased dramatically over the past few decades, especially in Asian countries such as Japan. Moreover, there has been an increase in the number of women working in the Asia Pacific, and this has resulted in a higher average age at which women have children. Furthermore, increasing divorce rates and second marriages are also influencing the growth of the Asia Pacific fertility services as people are choosing to start a second family at a relatively advanced age.
Asia-Pacific fertility services Market - By End-User
Based on end-users, the Asia-Pacific fertility services market is segmented into fertility clinics & surgical centers, hospitals, clinical research laboratories. The fertility clinics and surgical centers segment account for the largest market share. Individuals can avail of a wide spectrum of services at these centers including tests to analyze the root causes of infertility and treatment options to conceive and grow a family. These fertility and surgical centers adopt various diagnostics tests and advanced medical treatment and technologies to achieve conceptions and pregnancies. Other than the fertility and surgical centers, the hospitals and research laboratories segments are also growing at a substantial growth rate.

Preimplantation genetic testing is the testing at the pre-implantation stage for detection of genetic defects in embryos or oocytes. Preimplantation genetic testing has occurred more frequently in recent years in North America and Europe, due to the advancement in genetic technology.
The decreasing fertility rates worldwide enhance the acceptance of the preimplantation genetic testing to avoid further complications of chromosomal abnormalities with advancing maternal age. This leads to the growth of the preimplantation genetic testing market during the forecast period. According to the Vital Statistics Rapid Release, the total fertility rate for the US in 2017 was 1,764.5 births per 1,000 women, and in 2016 it was 1,820.5, which is 3% less, this shows the reduction in the rate of fertility.
An increasing number of fertility clinics worldwide, new development technological advancements in the field of genetic analysis and high threat of chromosomal abnormalities with advancing maternal age are the other driving factors for global preimplantation genetic testing market
Segmentation
The global preimplantation genetic testing market is segmented based on procedure, type, application, technology, product and service, end user, and region.
The global market for preimplantation genetic testing, by procedure, is segmented into preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and preimplantation genetic screening (PGS). Hundred different genetic conditions can be tested with Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) which enables the couple to have a baby with no genetic defect thus the segment is expected to hold the largest market share owing to rising awareness population and healthcare experts. Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) segment is also anticipated to grow profitably to increase healthy pregnancy.
By type, embryo testing segment is expected to show favorable growth as the threat of chromosomal abnormalities increases. By product and service, the reagents and consumables segment anticipated to hold the largest market share as there is continuous declination infertility of female due to increasing usage of reagents for the diagnosis. By technology, the next-generation sequencing segment, and comparative genomic hybridization also expected to hold large share as its cost is reduced and its capability to detect mosaicism. The market by end user has been segmented into maternity centers & fertility clinics
hospitals, diagnostic labs and research laboratories & academic institutes. Based on region, the global preimplantation genetic testing market is segmented into the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East and Africa.
