Not only Kevin's entire future with Exy, his one purpose, was crushed alongside his hand, but also, for a moment, his life was on the line too. And he was so scared, he spoke and plead in every language he knew, in hopes anyone would help him, and how soul crashing it must’ve been to know that no one would.
He asked Jean for help, not really understanding that he was damning them both by speaking french in front of Riko because that moment was it- he was going to die. But they both had their hands tied, not having full freedom to actually act the way they wanted. And how devastating is that? Asking for help, and not receiving it. Watching the person you love the most hurt, and not being able to help them. Both their lives at stake, both unable to do something about it.
At that moment, I think, was when Kevin fully recognized that no matter how Jean felt about him (even when Kevin made him break the rules, like teaching him french), there was always going to be a wall between them in the form of a raven. How he truly learned that Jean wouldn’t go with him that night even if he asked, why he used him, because he knew Jean couldn't allow himself to do it willingly, knowing he was betraying the Moriyamas, their cuts ran too deep for that to happen.
And oh, to see Jean for the first time since Renee rescued him must’ve been so excruciating, “bottomless guilt”, how easy was to be back in the nest tending each other's wounds, and how much he didn't want that to happen ever again.
Once Kevin learned how to trust himself, how to be a little less afraid, how to convince himself that there was more to life that what he had been taught, he truly saw Jean, this person that would have done anything for him, at one point.
Kevin couldn’t rescue Jean once, but he wasn’t going to let that happen again, so he made sure to give Jean the best chance he could find so he could have the same hope the foxes had given him. Even if it was without him.

for prompts, might I suggest a number 14 with Julian takin care of Kira, and a ‘it feels worse than it looks—no wait-‘ with Julian being a bad patient?
oh my god I finally fucking finished it.
I am SO SORRY this took so long I got hit with. the most violent writer's block ive had in a HOT minute and this had me fighting for my life. I dont even know how many times I wrote and rewrote this. I went through so many different ideas it was actually ridiculous. at one point I had something finished but it Was Not Good and I dont believe in posting writing I dont like so I scrapped it and started again
I keep waffling on whether or not I like this, but thats entirely because ive spent way too long staring at it. im sure in a few days ill actually really like it, cause I really like the dialogue, which was what I wrote out first. pulling myself out of my perfectionism, I do think I like this, and at the very least im proud of getting it down when it gave me so much trouble
again, im so sorry it took so long, but writer's block is a bitch and ive had a lot going on lately, so I hope you understand <3
for the readers- 14 on the list is "Stop pretending that any of this is ok. It's not." I did adjust that one a bit cause I was having trouble making it flow. but, without further ado, here's what I've got!
Kira slides down with her back against the wall, grinding her teeth as she clutches at her wounded shoulder. The pain is still hot, the hole burned into her skin practically still smoking. She hisses as her palm makes contact with the sticky, raw flesh, but she still clamps down.
“Anytime you wanna get over here, Julian!” She calls, her voice strained.
“Doing my best, Major!” Julian calls from where he is, hunkered down behind some debris as a makeshift shield against the barrage of disruptor fire.
This is, in eloquent terms, a right fucking mess. Getting into a fight with a bunch of Jem’Hadar soldiers is never a good thing, even when they’re prepared. When they’re not prepared, it’s even worse. And this time, they weren’t prepared. Because there weren’t supposed to be any Jem’Hadar on this planet. This was supposed to be a quick pit stop for the Defiant, replacing some whatsit that O’Brien said was damaged in their last firefight, but then there were Jem’Hadar soldiers and they’ve managed to land themselves in a whole different firefight.
It really just hasn’t been a great week.
Kira inches closer to the wall’s edge. Her grip on her phaser isn’t stable, but it’ll have to do. She takes a deep, steadying breath, and then she twists over so that she’s peering out from behind the corner. She spots the Jem’Hadar pinning them down, quick count tells here there’s 3 of them, and she snaps her phaser up to hit them with some fire of her own. The motion pulls at her injured shoulder in a way that makes her want to scream, but she bites down on it.
Julian, bless him, takes the opportunity to lunge out from behind the debris. He scrambles across the gap, barely dodging the returning fire from the Jem’Hadar, and manages to throw himself down behind the security of the wall. He plasters himself up against the wall beside Kira, right as she ducks back behind cover as the Jem’Hadar’s fire intensifies.
Kira looks at him. He looks at her. He’s breathing hard and heavy, his hair a mess and dirt and blood staining his face. She musters up a grin to tell him, “You’re late.”
Julian gives her a flat look as he turns to her. “Forgive me, it’s a bit difficult to make house calls in the middle of a battlefield,” He replies, sounding very, very tired. But then his eyes flick to her bloody hand, still clamped over her wounded shoulder, and she watches his expression shift as he clicks back into what’s affectionately referred to as doctor mode, “Let’s see that shoulder, then.”
Kira moves her hand, letting Julian get a look at the wound. She winces as he pulls aside the burnt fabric, taking a deep breath in through her nose and resisting the reflex to jerk away. “How’s it look?” She asks, mostly just to distract herself.
“Like it needs more than what I’ve got,” Julian replies, frowning, “The dermal regenerator I have will do for now, but this is deep. I’ll need to immobilize your arm,” He tells her, giving her an apologetic look, “If you move it too much, you’ll risk tearing it open again.”
“Just do what you have to,” Kira tells him, “Won’t be the first time I’ve had to shoot myself out with only one arm.”
Julian nods, and returns his attention to her wound. “Right,” He pulls his kit up and rifles through it for a second. The first thing he pulls out is a hypospray, which he quickly sticks into her neck. Kira relaxes fractionally as the painkillers immediately start to work, dulling some of the burning in her shoulder. Then he’s pulling out the dermal regenerator, and bracing his hand against her shoulder again, “Try to hold still.” He advises.
Kira just gives a tight nod, already gritting her teeth and bracing herself. She feels the dermal regenerator start to work. The hypo helps, but it doesn’t take away that burning, itchy sort of feeling of muscle and nerves and skin stitching itself back together inch by inch. She clenches her fists tight, breathing hard through her nose as Julian works.
“Sorry, I know this stings,” Julian says, “I’m doing the best I can. This regenerator wasn’t meant for a wound like this.”
Kira grunts a wordless acknowledgement. If she says anything, it’s just going to be a string of curses. Instead, she focuses on keeping her ear on the sound of disruptor fire, making sure it isn’t getting closer. If the Jem’Hadar decide to come after them, she wants to be ready.
“Done,” Julian pipes up. She looks over as he puts the regenerator back in his kit, taking the worst of the pain with it and leaving her with a dull ache, “That’s the hard part done. I’m going to move your arm now,” His hands are gentle, taking her arm and carefully easing it away from her side, “There we go. Alright, hold it there, please.”
Kira does. Julian sits back, and unzips his jacket to get at his undershirt. “This will have to do,” He tells her, tearing a couple of strips from his undershirt, “These won’t be the most comfortable, but they’ll have to do. I’m out of bandages.” He leans back in, starting to bind her arm with the torn fabric.
“Sorry about your shirt.” She cracks weakly.
“I’ll get a new one.” He replies, without so much as a smile.
She hates how flat his voice is. Hates how… unlike him, it is. Quiet, with no bite. “C’mon, Julian, where’s that boyish optimism of yours?” She asks, “I could really use a hit of it right about now.”
Julian secures the bandage around her arm. “I must’ve dropped it when they started shooting at us,” He says, not meeting her eyes, “Do me a favour, Major. Don’t pretend any of this is ok,” He sits back again, still not meeting her eyes, all caught up in taking in his work, “Cause it’s really not.” He does look her in the eye, then. And he looks so… tired.
But then, he’s looked like that for a while, hasn’t he?
Kira gives him a smile. A sad, quiet little smile. “I never said any of this was ok,” She corrects, “I’m just… used to it, at this point.” Very, very used to it. Used to it in a way she hopes he never is.
Julian considers that for a moment. His expression is hard to read- sad, maybe. Sympathetic. Then he sighs, and breaks eye contact. “Well, I suppose I’m getting used to it, too,” He scrubs a bloody hand through his hair, “We should get going. Can you walk?” He asks.
No time for sentiment, then. Kira nods. “It’s just the arm,” She assures him, “I can do a hell of a lot more than walk.”
“Good,” Julian starts to push himself up to stand, “Let’s-“ He doesn’t get far. He wobbles suddenly, his eyes widening slightly as he nearly topples right over. He barely manages to catch himself, bracing a hand against the wall before he can fall against it.
Kira quickly reaches out to steady him. “Julian?” She sits up, frowning, “What’s wrong?”
Julian frowns, confused. “I… don’t know,” He says, looking down, “I can’t feel my-“ He cuts off, suddenly, his eyes fixing on something, “Ah.”
Kira’s brow furrows. “Ah? What’s-“ She follows his gaze, and comes to the same abrupt halt as she sees just what he’s found, “Ah.”
Julian has a substantial wound in his thigh. A chunk of his pant leg has been burned away, revealing a raw, painful-looking burn that’s steadily oozing blood down his leg. Kira’s eyes widen at the sight of it. That doesn’t look good. That really doesn’t look good.
“Well,” Julian says, “That’s not ideal.” And then he sways alarmingly, nearly crumpling right to the ground.
“Julian!” Kira lurches forward, manages to catch him by the arms. He grimaces as he eases himself down, taking his weight off his injured leg, “Damnit, Julian, what were you thinking ignoring this? Gimme that tricorder-“ She reaches for his medkit, not waiting for him as she rummages through it herself.
“I wasn’t ignoring it!” He exclaims, “I couldn’t feel it! Honest!”
Kira finds the tricorder and pulls it out. “Don’t tell me they augmented the ability to feel pain out of you,” He shifts again, adjusting his position to give her a better angle to scan him, and it draws a painful hiss out of him, “Guess not.” She hums.
Julian manages a weak chuckle, the first one she’s gotten out of him all day. “Not as such,” He confirms, “I’ve just been- gah!” He grinds his molars as she pulls the burnt fabric away from the wound, “Preoccupied.” He growls.
Kira huffs softly as she reads the results on the tricorder. It’s not a fun wound. “So busy trying not to get shot that you didn’t realize you got shot?” She asks, arching a brow at him, “I’m almost impressed.”
“Only almost?” Julian asks, all mock indignation, “I’d hate to see what I’d have to do to actually impress you,” He mutters. His eyes drift down, then back up at her. He looks worried, “How bad is it?”
Kira puts the tricorder down. “How bad does it feel?” She dodges.
“Pfft, this little thing?” He scoffs, gives a weak little wave that’s probably went to ‘wave off’ the pain, “It’s nothing. Just a scratch. It feels worse than it… no. No, wait, that’s not right,” He blinks, and she can almost see the gears in his head turning as he tries to figure out the order of the words, “I don’t mean to alarm you, Major, but I think the shock might be setting in.” He tells her.
Kira can’t help but roll her eyes. “No kidding,” She says, “This isn’t my first time, Julian. Hand me the regenerator, I’ll do what I can with it.” She holds her hand out expectantly.
Julian hands it over. “Now who’s being serious?” He asks.
Kira adjusts how she’s holding him, making sure she’s holding the burnt edges of his uniform away from his skin so that she doesn’t accidentally fuse any fabric to him. “Oh, so you can make jokes,” She takes the dermal regenerator and adjusts her hold on it, making sure it won’t slide out of her hand, which is slick with blood, “I thought you dropped that along with your optimism.” She gets the regenerator going, doing what she can with the wound.
Julian chuckles again, grins at her. “I told you, the shock’s setting in,” He replies, all charm, “I’ll say anything just to say anything. Apologies, but I’m going to be talking your ear off until we get out of here.” He warns.
Kira keeps her eyes on her work, keeps her hand braced on his thigh to hold him still. “As opposed to when you don’t talk my ear off.” She counters. After a few seconds, she can see that the burn’s healed as much as it’s going to. She switches the regenerator off and hands it back to him.
“Rude,” Julian huffs, taking the regenerator and putting it back in his medkit, “How’d the regenerator do? I don’t want to look.” He’s looking even as he says it, like he can’t help himself.
“It’ll hold,” She tells him, not seeing any point in sugar-coating it. He would see right through her in a second, “For now. I’m gonna bandage it, just in case,” She adds. Now it’s her turn to get at her undershirt, tear it up for strips of fabric, “I liked this shirt, you know.” She informs him as she does.
“I suppose we’re even, then,” Julian cracks weakly, “Have I ever told you you’d make a great medic?” He asks.
There’s the Julian she knows. “Flattery will get you nowhere,” She tells him. Satisfied with her bandages, she gets them ready, “I do have one question for you, Doctor.”
Julian frowns, confused. Yeah, the shock really has set in if he can’t see what she’s doing. “Go ahead.” He invites.
Kira starts wrapping his leg. “What are your plans for the rest of the day?” She asks.
He looks even more confused. “What are my-“ She yanks the bandages tight before he can finish, and he cuts off with a pitched yelp, “Fuck!”
Maybe it’s a bit mean to chuckle, but Kira can’t help it. She doesn’t often get to hear him curse. “Oh, language,” She tuts as she finishes tying the bandages off, “There. Nice and tight. That oughta hold you together till we get out of here.” She gives his knee a pat.
Julian pouts at her. “You enjoyed that.” He accuses.
“I did no such thing,” Kira replies smoothly as she pulls his medkit closer to her and starts rifling through it, not bothering to ask him, “Want a hypo?” She offers.
“No,” Julian shakes his head, making her stop short and give him an incredulous look, “I’ve only got the one left. Save it for someone who needs it.” He reasons.
Her look quickly flattens. “Don’t start with the heroics, Julian,” She advises, “You’re not gonna be treating any patients until after you’ve been treated. On the Defiant.” She doubts he can even stand on his own, let alone treat people.
“I can hold out till then,” He insists, “Someone else might-“
“Julian,” Kira cuts in, not giving him any room to argue, “Take the fucking hypo.”
Julian’s brows shoot up and he looks a little stunned. Just for a moment, though, before he huffs a bit of a laugh. “Now who needs to watch their language,” He says, his tone light and teasing, “Alright, go ahead.” He nods.
Kira takes the hypo out of his kit. “Oh, thank you,” She replies, making sure her own tone savours strongly of sarcasm, “You’re a terrible patient, you know that?”
There’s that grin again. All charm. “So Nurse Jabara keeps telling me.” He replies, like the pain in the ass he is.
“You should listen to her. She’s always right,” Kira sticks the hypo in his neck, and watches his shoulders instantly sink down a notch. She didn’t even realize how tense he was, “Better?” She asks.
Julian takes a deep breath. Probably the first one he’s taken all day. “…Much,” He admits, with the decency to look a little sheepish, “Thank you, Major.” His smile’s a bit less charm now, a bit more sincere.
Kira finds herself smiling back. “Anytime,” She says. She shoots a quick look around, regaining her bearings a bit now that they’re both taken care of. She can still hear blasters firing, but not as close. They might’ve moved off somewhere else. Or they could be waiting, “We should probably get moving.” She suggests.
“Probably,” Julian agrees, “Just one problem, though. I don’t think I can walk.” He tells her.
Kira figured. “Can you limp?” She asks, “I’ve still got two good shoulders, both perfectly good for leaning on.” She offers, patting her shoulder for emphasis.
There’s that glint in his eye. First time she’s seen it today- stubborn determination, or, in another word, cocky. “I think I can manage that.” He says.
Kira grins. “Great,” She ducks in and gets her arm around his waist, pulling him in snug against her as he wraps his arm around her shoulders, “Alright, lean on me. Steady. And…” She pushes herself up, and brings him with her. He leans heavy into her side, and she tightens her hold on him to keep him steady, “Up we go. Ready?” She asks.
Julian takes a moment to find his balance, shifting most of his weight off of his injured leg and compensating on Kira’s shoulder. “As I can be,” He tells her with a nod, “Let’s go.”
And they’re off. Making quite the sight as they hobble back into the action, pressed hip to hip and clinging tight to each other. But, hey, they’re still kicking, and they’ve still got their phasers, so they’ll make do. They always do.

is it bad I want to see your other ideas anyway-- adsagkljdslkgj. HOW MANY WIPS DO YOU HAVE actually scratch that I cant say shit because I have a kise wip in progress rn oops-- cant wait for your rnis work to drop <3<3<3
ahahhahaha no no ur so valid!!! for context (x) i'll do uhhh a quick synopsis below the cut for anyone who's interested in what i didn't mention over on twt !!! and i'll talk abt wips too LMAO i love a good excuse to talk abt what i'm working on. and omg dw u are so valid !!!!! and i take no offense i am always in wip hell (affectionate) (i like having things to jump around between so i never get too frustrated if i get stuck somewhere)
if any of yall see anything below that ur super into, let me know!! always cool to know what people are hyped about, may influence what i work on next lmao
first, wips!!
as mentioned i have a rnis fic which is VERY very loosely based on the concept from this post (x) ft background ryusae lsjdffsd cause i apparently can't write a fic without them
also if ur a fan of the mall au (x) i'm currently posting, u will be thrilled to know that i am neck-deep in part 2 which will feature sendou (some ryusaesen but endgame aikusenbarou), charles (one-sided pining for shidou + endgame niko/charles), isagi (kaisagi and some bachisagi), and karasu (tabieita fake dating flavor) !!!!
ryusae praise kink gone wrong !!!!! i love the way shidou is so complimentary of others and i Bet he has a praise kink himself and i just think that sae'd pick up on that and (completely on accident) say smth that rly hits on something shidou's actually sensitive about (like, smth he's self-conscious about that sae compliments) and it turns the whole 'about to hook up' vibe into smth rly soft and tender
ouuuuu ryusae Again but this time, sae got machine-ified at a young age to basically be used as an enhanced human processor for a research facility (where he's basically always hooked up to wires and whatnot, processing research data etc) and shidou's the new maintenance person assigned to take care of him :)
i think i mentioned in passing that i had some other ideas for spinoffs of the kaisagi counterspell fic (x) but i have actually started working on the initial ryusae spinoff which is a getting-back-together vibe where shidou broke it off bc sae couldn't accept the idea that shidou might like him just...for him, so he used shidou as a test subject for various spells he was developing in an effort to push him away
ryusae Again i swear i think abt charas that aren't sd and se lmaoooo this one's fully just pwp and my ovipos kink + shidou with tentacles :)
ough a longfic idea that i wrote a little bit of the start of that's ryurin but i think i need to rethink the actual dynamics of their relationship bc i might prefer platonic ryurin (like,,,,relationship but not romantic) but high school au with rin who's crushing on kaiser (bear with me) bc he thinks kaiser's so Cool and Punk only for kaiser to start changing his behavior bc he's crushing on sae who is very Uncool and Preppy (in rin's eyes) only to find out that sae's annoying friend shidou is actually very cool and punk and likes the same music etc etc chaos ensues
ryukai i just think they should be messy together and the line "are you seriously hard right now" felt hilariously perfect to make kaiser say to shidou. while they're watching rnis fight on field. i think this one includes some repressed kaisagi emotions on kaiser's part tho so i have to think abt how deep or not deep i wanted to go with those
kise spinoff of spellbound (x) the ryukuro fic !!!! that goes into detail on when sae first showed up at the castle and how he ended up staying
and then tbh i have a number of other wips that i refuse to say ive abandoned but also i have not touched in a While (zhongli x kaeya/childe/diluc/aether, bakutodo boarding school au, a kunigiri i halfway rewrote when i found out i accidentally completely deleted a kncg fic i wrote that couldn't be recovered)
and then other ideas asdkfjklsfdj
isagibowl actor au that i did not delve into plot wise any further than that lmaoooo frankly i just think i need to write isagibowl at some point cause that boy deserves to FUCK
my cousin's best man at his wedding gave a speech abt how my cousin FORGOT WHO HE WAS after they'd already met and been on like. the same baseball team or smth and idek what ship this would be (probs smth with rin or sae) but it made me laugh so hard i had to write it down
sae who Refuses to form attachments with anyone and hooks up with many people (this is labeled in my notes as 'sae using whoever as basically a dildo' and frankly i'm right)
everyone in ng11 having a tattoo so sae has a tramp stamp. idk if it's when he acquires the tattoo or what but i just think i should write abt it
siren sae ryusae this is a GREAT idea i should rly write this but siren sae who gets captured on purpose to bait someone on the ship into going overboard (ofc it ends up being shidou that he fixates on) and eventually he succeeds and nearly kills shidou except shidou's just looking at him like he sees sae and not some Evil Creature and sae's just like. fuck. and doesn't kill him, just tosses him up on some beach which is a pain in the ass cause no legs and then shidou finds him again and sae tries to scare him off by being all demon siren like and shidou is just ENAMORED
throat goat shidou ryurin where shidou'll give basically anyone head and most of the pxg guys have taken him up on it. rin hasn't (but he will :) )
another nontraditional fic format concept where sae keeps detailed records of everyone he's slept with, notes on preferences kinks how good/not good the sex was etc etc in like. a Form format
o i'm redacting this one cause i decided to use this idea for an original story instead lmao
noaego outsider pov "i wonder if your therapist knows everything about me" based right before noa goes to bllk to coach the bm team i just think noa's poor therapist would be so exasperated abt him going back to his ex like that
ryurin neighbors au where rin can see in shidou's window and that guy is ALWAYS half-naked and doesn't have/doesn't close his blinds/curtains and rin gets so fed up with it that he leaves a note on the door except then he swears it's happening MORE often, chaos ensues and rin goes over to Confront the guy. horny chaos ensues :)
kaisagi pov of fanfic writer hiori where kaiser's desperately trying to figure out what the hell is happening with all this fic stuff. bachira keeps sending isagi kaisagi fic from his fave author (hiori, not that he knows that) and isagi ends up reading it (out of morbid curiosity ofc !!!!) unsure of the resolution but it would be very cracky i think
saesagi my beloved but it's a seat chat fic bc i'm unwell about seat chat on airplanes. anyway 12yo isagi finds out he's on a plane with ITOSHI SAE (13yo, when he got scouted for real madrid) and sends him a seat chat message just talking about how amazing a player he is etc. ffw however many years and sae is lowkey obsessed with him (maybe in a 'his encouragement is what got sae through some of his darkest times in madrid' sort of way)
ryusae it's always ryusae lmao pop idol sae and budding makeup artist shidou. sae's notorious for being insanely picky abt his makeup (brands, application, style, etc) and regularly fires new artists. at some point, he fires one right before he's supposed to go on stage, calls kaiser in (old friends, and kaiser did his makeup before kaiser made it big & started his own company) and kaiser's like just this once, then i'm sending you someone else. and sends over the guy that barged into his office trying to get a job with no credentials or pro experience or references (aka shidou lmao)
ryusae (again, i know) trans camboy shidou and very invested watcher sae, but it's set in canon, and that's actually part of why sae picked shidou for the u20 game
ryusae (i knOW) where shidou wakes up multiple times to sae fucking him (or riding him, blowing him, etc) and he's like. pretty boy. I wanna be involved in this, wake me up next time. and sae is like rly cautious and hedgy abt it. won't say why but could go lots of ways - he thinks he wants it too often and shidou will find him annoying, he's still struggling to say when he wants smth, etc
ryukai dying each other's hair. bonus points if they both end up with purple tips
ryucha where charles clocks shidou's boner on field and follows him into the locker room to get dicked down about it
kise based vaguely (plot whomst we don't know her) on not the one by movie night (x)
kaisagi fwb i typed 'ypichi' in a fic on accident and published it not noticing the typo and i think kaiser would typo isagi's name and then put him in his phone as 'y🍑y' which would irritate isagi to no end. other than that, plot whomst?
rin&sae 2nd person pov fic about destroying your brother's dreams or smth along those lines. i have like. one starting line to potentially use here lsdjfklfs
either ryusae (iKNOW okay i know) or rinsagi based on i like me better by lauv (specifically the spotify studio recording version) (x) where they're just being. so unbearably soft for each other
rinsagisae based on in the middle by dodie (x) idk which one would be the ex of isagi's but i have written ryurinsae before and i wld rly like to try my hand at rinsagisae as well
ryukai i am deeply obsessed with them both having this core motivator of 'proof of existence' and i think that could be a fun idea to incorporate into a pwp fic
this is so important to me i need to write an h2o fic some day and i think it being about sae, isagi, and kaiser getting mer'd would be the best way to hit on all the relationships and dynamics i would want to explore
phew. okay. sldkfjklsfdjsfd. hey if u made it this far, thanks for checking this out !!! i think i unironically have another 11 fics i've finished that are in the queue to post over the next couple months so hopefully u will enjoy those as well!
and hey if any of these sounded particularly interesting (or any of the ideas i mentioned on my twt thread - x) feel free to let me know!! no promises, but i could possibly be steered toward certain ideas over others once i'm done with this rnis fic lmao

oh rid, you know i cant just choose one part as my favorite...so here are my top five 😅
1. lights - so self-explanatory, i think ive raved about this chapter for months (and i will continue until the day i die)💀 it holds such a dear part in my heart despite them not being together, you feel the small actions of love they share 🙏 it is truly one of my favorite fics ive ever read
2. seven - OMG idk what it is about this part but i fell in love with it from the beginning and just cant stop rereading it 😭 its lighthearted (even though they are arguing) and so comedic, especially since i read it with the seven instrumental playing
3. monochrome - this part actually destroyed me in so many ways it is insane. idk if its bc the angst physically made me tear up and cry, but i felt so moved by them and truly enthralled when reading it. i have yet to reread it, but i think about this chapter so much 😅
4. letters from the heart - UGH I CAN TALK ABOUT THIS PART FOR AGES!! i loved seeing his pov and it was just *chefs kiss*
5. every other part youve released 😋
im so curious to know which part was your favorite and which part was the most fun/difficult to write!!
E, not you coming through with your TOP FIVE LIKE 😭 the moment i saw your ask and read the first line, i knew lights was gonna be #1!! and it has my heart, too… i don't know what it is about that one (maybe the yearning.. the subtle emotions?), but it's gonna stick with me forever <3 ALSO AH LMFAO i love how seven fought its way up so fast!! good choices good choices!! you're very brave for wanting to reread monochrome, too :')
ahhh!! i think i found blurred and translucent pretty difficult to write – most of all bc they both consist of scenes that were/are extremely important for the series and their story. i wrote and rewrote those quite a few times (the last translucent scene? i rewrote it like 3x and still cried every time) to make them perfect. i didn't want to disappoint anyone or myself by making them underwhelming, so i put a lot of thought into those <3 and i hope the effort was worth it all. i know that cmi11 is my favourite so far, for sure.
letters from the heart was incredibly difficult, too, bc writing a full part from his pov was.. challenging as heck :') cmi11.5 is a full jk pov one, too, but it's been much easier this time!! and the one i found most fun to write were lights, monochrome and blue (lol bc i LOVE writing angst, did you know? :')) <3 tysm for asking babe and sorry for the ramble kfsehkajfh 🥺🤍
what's your favourite cmi chapter (and why)? 🎨🤍

im going to just answer whichever questions i want to abt adaotc but umm if u wanna ask anything abt it or my other fics go ahead
1. the plot was inspired by ranting to a friend about the boys and then they went “they need an adult in their life to realise smthns wrong with them. like a guidance counsellor” and then i wanted to write a story LOL. after the first chapter or two, i started drawing inspo from catch22’s non-linear storytelling style (my favourite book) n i want to try use that technique in more interesting ways
2. the opening scene ahsjw. ive written 99% of it in order
5. umhghgh the goddamn. chapter 5 scene where youko and amano talk i legitimately rewrote that so so many times bc i couldnt get the tone right. its such a small scene too
6. most of my fics focus on one character and one aspect of that character. balancing 2-3 protagonists and a ton of plot threads has been really hard bc i have to like. keep them all written down in bullet points so i dont forget them. theres been a couple plot threads where i didnt build them up well enough so the payoff is a bit lacklustre but hopefully its not noticeable
7. i got all of ch1 ready to upload then paced in circles for legit an hour trying to come up w a good title
9. not alternate versions but some scrapped plot threads that there wouldnt have been room for. also when i first wrote ch1 youko was a therapist from outside the school hired to come there (bc thats apparently a common thing in japan) but i made her a teacher so she’d have more chances to interact w the boys. so i quickly patched out this detail when i wrote ch2
10. josuke and okuyasu were going to be just friends and when i was writing ch1 the porch scene came out of nowhere like they just did that on their own. i think bc i wrote josuke wiping okuyasus tears bc i was like ‘well he wouldnt just not react to his friend crying but i dont wanna add extra dialogue where he acknowledges it’ and it added this whole romantic tension feeling LOL
11. i like being able to share my interpretations of the characters, and that people emotionally connect with my writing and enjoy it :)
12. its going to take sooo long to finish omg and its going to be so hard
13. i always write in silence but for one scene in ch6 i listened to uhh a scary song from the requiem for a dream soundtrack (mightve been meltdown?) on loop to get me in the mindset for it. also i have a playlist but im not sure when ill link it on the story aha
Reblog if you are a fanfiction author and would like your readers to put one of your fic titles in your ask + questions about it

ao3 wrapped 2023
taken from here. i did this last year and it was fun so im doing it again
1. How many words have you written this year?
i published 110,143 words this year! written...... no clue.
the first half of this year was mostly spent working on the jdau, but the second half was mostly spent on working on oc stuff that i dont post anywhere. i have no way of tracking how much i wrote for that bc this year i shifted all of my oc works from google docs to saved files on my computer, so the dates are all fucking wrong. ; ; if you add that mystery number onto the mystery number of scrapped projects and wips..... theres no telling. theres no telling.
2. How many works did you publish this year?
i posted 12 works on ao3 this year, not counting the fics i rewrote. i posted 9 drabbles on tumblr. this wasnt a great drabble year for me, i think.
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
i like the afterlife drabble i wrote about jason and nico. i feel like every time i write about them theres just something so bittersweet and punchy about it. it was a cool idea that kind of leaves me thinking about the world behind it, but not in a way that needs to be elaborated on.
as far as fics psoted on ao3, maybe under the skin? its such a different dynamic, and the tension is drawn so taut, it walks the line perfectly between violence/hatred and grief/love. its one im always second guessing myself about, but i had so much fun with it, sometimes i just have to remind myself its okay to make things just for the sake of exploration/indulgence.
4. What work of yours has the most hits?
snow day, with about 1k hits. i think thats the fic where a lot of people stop reading the jdau. its short, its fluffy, and i do actually still love this one a lot. i wrote it when i needed it.
5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
i feel like a lot of my drabbles this year were really weak, so ive been surprised by the number of notes some of them have gotten. otherwise, mostly oc stuff? ive always struggled with sharing original content bc it never feels interesting enough, but the few friends i have shared it with have been so supportive and it means everything. @roomfulloferidans and @ashysiashy especially are always encouraging me and motivating me to keep making more, and i mightve given it up a long time ago otherwise tbh
6. Favorite title you used
oh thats gotta be The Family Disappointment actually. i like how much meaning and interpretation is embedded in it. if youve been reading the jdau, you might think its jason, but seeing that the fic centers damian, you might think its him. both boys struggle with feeling like theyre bruces biggest disappointment, but the fic is about brotherly solidarity, and recognizing that maybe bruce is actually the disappointment.
honorary mention to under the skin, bc i think that one was very funny/clever. i also named some oc works "the debilitating fear of garage doors" and "the inherent eroticism of handholding" and i like those a lot.
7. If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?
its a fucking miracle. for once, i didnt use any.
8. Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
i guarantee it was bruharv again. bc the jdau. ive finally finished it tho, so who knows what the next will be?? the world is full of possibility.
9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
im going to be so real w you. my ocs. their dynamic is so much fucking fun.
10. What work was the quickest to write?
i guarantee it was one of the drabbles. altho i did spend much more time agonizing over them this year
11. What work took you the longest to write?
the jdau. but specifically, im sure it was retirement, bc that one is the longest by miles.
12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
one!!! im working on a hs fic for the first time in ages, tho i dont have all of my plans for it 100% solid yet. ive got threeish chapters written tho, so i think i will end up finishing it. ill probably start another wip soon so i dont contaminate this one w the urge to write nonsensical fluff.
13. What’s your longest work of the year?
its retirement. its definitely retirement. its 46k and everythign else doesnt really pass 10k
14. What’s your shortest work of the year?
one of the drabbles. on ao3, its off book.
15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
the aforementioned. its davesprite centric and so far its a lot about family and growing up.
16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
probably “Harvey Dent Adopts Jason Todd” again. god im so glad im done w that au
17. Your favorite character to write this year?
my ocs. otherwise, im going to say 2f bc he is so babygirl to me w his sexy trauma and anger issues, and rose, bc rose <33333333
18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
bruce fucking again i hate writing him so much its unreal hes barely even a person to me hes been written so many different ways so many different times the source material is basically a suggestion and i HATE IT. also, nepeta. i cant get her voice right and its killing me and i refuse to write in pesterlog format im NOT DOING IT
19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
eridve baby im coming home <333333 (<- insane) but probably also a lot of hal ships eventually
20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?
i have reread the jdau so many fucking times reviewing for the next chapter its fukcing unreal and insanity inducing. if i reread it any more im going to start hating it
21. How many kudos in total did you get this year?
772. this feels liek nothing compared to last year but its so much compared to the previous years so i think im doing good and last year was just a fluke
22. Which work has the most comments?
snow day w 7 comments, which tracks, bc it also has the most hits.
23. Did you do any collaborative works this year?
nope! not this year
24. Did you write any gifts this year?
most of my drabbles were requests, and i definitely wrote some fics w specific ppl in mind, namely @roomfulloferidans (Calming a Storm) and @ashysiashy (some oc stuff), but i didnt technically tag any gifts on ao3 this year
25. Did you receive any gifts this year?
nope! im kind of the writer of my friend group so fics are not generally smthn i receive. however, trustymikh drew this drawing inspired by my mermay bruharv drawing inspired by their mermay harvey drawing, so maybe that kind of counts?? i was delighted to see my bruce design in their style, at least. @roomfulloferidans drew a very nice drawing of my oc rogue that i cherish, @mudp1es and another friend of mine drew our spidersonas, and i participated in an oc art trade where another friend drew my oc barbie. i think those count as gifts, even if its not Ao3 Gifts(TM)
26. What’s your most common category?
M/M again bc i think its hot when men
27. What do you listen to while writing?
i tend to just loop playlists or single songs, unless im really struggling to concentrate, in which case ill switch to white noise.
28. Favorite work you wrote this year?
my oc fic, the inherent eroticism of handholding, which im 99% sure i did write this year? it captures a very specific kind of uncertain tenderness where a crush is new and theyre feeling out flirting still. i think about the scene where theyre lying together in the dark while everyone sleeps and holding hands for a reason they cant justify, not looking at each other, talking about nothing, all the time. i also rlly like the oc fic i just finished a lot- domestic(ated).
that i published, i guess under the skin for reasons i already talked about.
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
im just gonna collect a few here, bc its hard to pick when i write so goddamn much:
Two Face hesitated. Carefully, he asked, “Do you think they want to get rid of you?” Jason’s eyes flickered away from him, his mouth opening, and then closing. “Yeah?” he said, finally. He sounded unsure.
Water dripped from Two Face's curls and slid off of his nose, spattering against the symbol on Bruce's chest. He found himself blinking hard, his breathing coming fast and tight. "You told me- You were supposed to be- Not even in death. Not even in death, would you have ever told me."
The Backroad Home
Eridan kissed like a fire slowly burning him from the inside out. He tasted like liquid courage and saltwater spray, sticky sweet like taffy the way he stuck in Dave's chest. His hands left scorched trails behind when they slid over Dave's skin, haunting, dizzying, warm like the inside of his mouth.
Calming a Storm
back when he and Bruce had lived so deep in each other’s pockets that the line between his and mine had vanished.
To Late Bruce Wayne
For a while, Two Face just let the breeze wash over him, ruffling his hair as his skin prickled from the chill. A siren blared somewhere in the distance, and he sucked sauce absently from his thumb, setting aside the tupperware. “I care deeply about this city,” the TV crackled. “That’s why I’m donating-” Two Face tucked a cigarette between his lips, pulling his lighter out of his pocket. There was a ritual to it. The slow inhale, the gradual exhale. The wind pulled the smoke from his lips, and it disappeared over the rooftops. Bruce’s laugh washed over Two Face. It was vapid and fake over the airwaves, but the memory of it rattled around Two Face’s chest, warm and startled as they rolled in the sheets in Bruce’s dorm. Longing took hold and ached.
Under the Skin. there are a lot of great lines from this one, but this may be my favorite
Spectre's chin bumped gently against Rogue's shoulder, inches left between them, and Rogue thought about how easy it was to steal things in the dark. "Tell me about something," Spectre whispered. "Anything. And I'll sleep."
the inherent eroticism of handholding. this whole fic was very quoteable and so is Domestic(ated) but i will make this my single oc quote.
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
that people would like my ocs, really. moth tenderly cares for them like real blorbos and i still dont really know how to process that

sometimes u gotta check urself ngl
i do use reddit a bit, i miss forums and i do like to browse some of the advice type reddits, mainly for cats. not because im so knowledgeable about cats, but because i care and like 80% of ppl looking for help online regarding their pets dont do even 5 minutes of research and wouldnt think about going to the vet without 10 different people telling them to.
anyway. as some people may know, constantly seeing the same newbie questions billions of times becomes a bit exasperating. which does lead to people answering those questions becoming impatient, flippant, and even rude.
and honestly. when u notice urself getting *rude* thats your sign to stop. its ok to not provide unlimited free advice for many strangers online. nobody is forcing you to do that. its ok to not help even if you can. especially if start turning into an unpleasant person. (ive seen these exact scenario hundreds of times in 15+ years online, first in forums and then many many different subreddits for all kinds of topics. and this kinda issue of newbie questions that can be answered with 1 google search and old community members being upset has been a thing since online communities exist. and even before the internet. so.)
well, today i stumbled upon a honestly REALLY stupid question. i was just SO amazed that somebody could ask something that fucking stupid. i wrote a snarky reply, but then i stopped myself.
i remembered a post with a saying that went something along the lines of "dont assume malice when ignorance could suffice" or something.
and then i wondered. maybe that person honestly doesnt know. its not like we are born with knowledge. everybody had to find out the answer to even super obvious questions at some point. the poster really could not know. or maybe would want to be reassured in their assumption, or something.
so i rewrote my answer to some thing a bit kinder. and guess what? they honestly didnt know. they freshly moved out and never had to deal with this problem before.
yeah. and now i feel like a bit of a jerk ngl.
i do think of myself as kind person. and i am. and open-minded. but everybody has the capacity for cruelty and being a fucking asshole. so. yeah.
esp since i know i def asked many super fucking stupid questions in my life even way into my adulthood. so. erm. yeah.
sincerly,
a humbled fucking fool

siren song 6/?
masterlist
Fandom: Peaky Blinders
Summary: He remembers the scent of her perfume, something that smelled strongly of rose, as she carefully closed the small window in the bedroom and crossed herself, whispering words under her breath that were too soft and quick for him to hear. His mother had turned and smiled at him, and even at that age he could see that she was trying to hide something behind it. Her voice had been shaky, whether with fear or anger he still doesn’t know, when she told him that he was going to be safe. The thought of asking what he was safe from hadn’t occurred to him at the time but he thinks he knows, now.

It’s easier than Tobias thought it would be, to work at least semi-functionally while Sofia sits at the bar with her head resting on her hands while she watches his every move like she’s never seen someone working behind a bar before. It’s a carefully planned move to get under his skin, he’s watched her do the exact same thing to Arianne before, so it would be easy to ignore if he wasn’t so tense he could pass for a statue every time the doors open. It’s going to Tommy on the other side eventually, and while he pours drinks he tries to mentally prepare himself for the inevitable.
“Back again already?”
“Sorry?”
Tobias glances up from the double he’s pouring and curses silently to himself when John steps through the door with Arthur not far behind, both of them looking like they’ve already been at the drink for a good hour already. It’s not an uncommon sight, and they don’t even have to ask before Tobias is turning around and pulling the bottles of whiskey down, along with two clean glasses.
“You didn’t show up last night.”
“Right. Yes, much better. It must’ve been just a twenty-four hour sickness.”
“Don’t be rude, Tobias, introduce me.”
It takes every bit of the willpower he’s learnt over his many years to stop himself from reacting outwardly. Sofia grins at him, utterly unconcerned and clearly thoroughly enjoying this, and turns towards John with a smile.
“Best customers, more like,” he mutters under his breath, unheard by everyone except Sofia, and trains his eyes on the glasses and not the complete disaster of a scene that’s unfolding in front of him. Objectively, he knows that Sofia is an exceptionally attractive woman, and this isn’t a new thing, but it’s one thing to hear about it and another thing to witness it happen with people he’s friendly with.
“You’ve been holding out on us, keeping this beautiful woman away.”
“I think you’ll find I’ve been sparing you.”
“What are you drinking?”
The smile that Sofia gives has, Tobias knows, been the last thing some people have ever seen, and John’s own smile falters for a second as if he can sense that there’s something wrong happening here but can’t quite figure out what. It could be anything, really; the coldness of Sofia’s hand in his, the fact that her eyes are darker because she hasn’t fed recently, the unnatural sharpness of her teeth.
“I think I’m craving something red.”
“Sofia.”
“Don’t worry, Tobias. I won’t indulge too much.”
“Nothing wrong with-”
For a second, the entire room seems to freeze when the doors open again. Sofia eyes him curiously when she notices his slight pause, quickly putting two and two together, and she makes a small noise in the back of her throat when she figures it out.
“Evening, Mr Shelby.”
Tumblr media
This is, hands down, one of the worst nights of Tobias’ life. He’s sitting in the small room, sandwiched in between Arthur and Sofia, desperately wishing he was anywhere else but here. Tommy looks vaguely amused at his distress, which should be irritating, but he has to bite down on his tongue to keep the slight smile off his face. Considering the smug look Sofia sends him, he fails completely.
“I’m only in the city for one night, so of course I had to meet all the friends Tobias has been making. He’s always been very solitary. We were all surprised to hear that he finally settled in one place.”
“We?”
“Our parents and siblings. There are a lot of us but we don’t see each other much, usually we communicate through letters if we need to. I’m on my way to meet up with a sister of ours, so we can travel together.”
“How many is a lot?”
Eight, with the recent addition of William. The agreed upon date for all of them to make the voyage home is fast approaching, and he’s not looking forward to it. They’ve settled somewhere in America, last he heard, and his last few trips there had been less than pleasant. He’ll still make the trip regardless.
“There are eight of us, and our parents. Of course, there’s also going to be wives, husbands, children.”
“Jesus. I thought the house was full enough with five of us.”
“It’s certainly never boring. So, Tommy, you’re the one that Tobias sent-”
“Shouldn’t you be leaving? You’ll miss your train.”
Sofia gives him a look, telling him that she knows exactly what he’s doing, but plays along this time.
“Of course. I must have lost track of time. It’s been nice meeting you all, I hope I see you again the next time I’m in the area. Tobias, walk me outside?”
It’s phrased like a question but he knows it’s not, and he follows her through the doors and down the street a little, just out of earshot for anyone that might be listening.
“Satisfied now?”
“He seems a little broody, but I can see the appeal. Not someone I would pick for myself, but-”
“Don’t tell them yet.”
“They’ll want to know. This isn’t just a minor slip-up, Tobias. This is serious.”
“I know. I’ll tell them, I promise. Just let me do that in my own time.”
For a second, he’s sure that she’ll say no, but eventually she sighs and nods like Tobias knew she would. Ever since they met, they’ve always looked out for each other, regardless of the situation. He loves the family he’s found, the family that found him more accurately, but the bond he shares with Sofia has always been just that little bit stronger.
“Fine. Fine, they won’t hear a word about it from me, but you better figure this out soon. Promise me.”
“I promise.”
“Good. Alright, I really do have to go. You’ll be alright here?”
“I will. I’ll see you in three months, just like we all promised.”
He stays outside for a few more minutes after she’s gone, watching until long after she’s disappeared from sight down the road, and when he walks back inside it’s to Arthur and John putting their coats back on.
“Where are you going?”
“Wherever the night takes us, Tobias. Adventure is calling!”
“I think thats a hangover calling, but each to their own.”
He waves a hand when they leave, getting to work on cleaning up the place. There’s still glasses sitting on most of the tables so he tackles those first, gathering them all up into his arms carefully and carrying them over to the sink. The bubbles fill the sink quickly, and it doesn’t sound like any glasses break when he submerges them into the water this time, which is a small victory.
“She seemed nice.”
“She is.”
Tobias doesn’t turn around. The screech that the ancient tap makes when he turns the water off makes him cringe, grating in his ears like nails on a chalkboard.
“You never answered my question.”
“Which one?”
“Why all the gifts?”
There are a lot of ways he could answer. He could divert the question again and turn the conversation around to something else. He could say that he has no idea what Tommy is talking about. He could reach out and make sure Tommy’s dead long before he hits the floor, though that’s just a more extreme version of the avoidance option. He could tell the truth.
“I sent them because I wanted to.”
“Why?”
“Does there have to be a reason?”
Tommy scoffs, “There’s always a reason.”
Behind him, the bubbles pop softly, and Tobias does what he’s always done. He risks it all on a gamble.
“Come with me.”
Tumblr media
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?”
“No. You’ll have to wait and find out when we get there.”
The alleys and streets are easy to navigate, he’s been up and down them enough times to almost have them memorised, and remembering the way back to the house he’s been living in had been his first priority when he got here. It’s about the time of the night when most people are already home safe in their beds, or on their way to doing just that, and the main sound that echoes against the brick walls is their footsteps. He keeps the door locked, and it only takes a second to unlock the door and open it to the darkness that lays on the other side.
“After you.” Tobias gestures towards the doorway, and laughs at the sceptical look Tommy throws him. “Calm down, I didn’t go through all this trouble to lure you here just to kill you. I’ll go first.”
Inside, the darkness is so complete that it’s hard for even Tobias to see anything, but he knows where to do and finds the stairs easily. Behind him, he can hear the sound of Tommy’s heartbeat. The rhythm has remained fairly steady until now, and it picks up more and more the further up the stairs they go.
“Here we are.”
“It’s a room.”
“Oh, ye of little faith.” He reaches out and takes Tommy by the shoulders, carefully manoeuvring him through the pitch black room until he’s standing more or less in the middle of the space. “Stay right here.”
“Where are you going?”
“Not far.”
He hears Tobias’ footsteps walking somewhere away to his left and shifts slightly but stays in place. There’s a strange sort of fear that comes from not being able to see a thing about where you are. Someone could be waiting three feet away with a hatchet and he wouldn’t be able to know until the first strike. After a few seconds, Tobias stops walking and Tommy hears him shifting things around instead. Boxes, by the sound of the scraping along the concrete.
“Ready?”
He has to raise an arm up to shield his eyes from the sudden light and even then it takes him a few minutes to blink away the spots dancing in his vision. When they’re gone, faded enough to be able to see, he lowers his arm and looks around the room. What he thought was Tobias turning the light on are actually windows, dozens and dozens and dozens of them lining the walls to the point that there’s more glass than brick.
Most of them are tilted, both backwards and forwards, so the moonlight reflects off of them and across to the window opposite, lighting the entire room up like it’s daylight. It’s the closest Tobias has gotten to daylight in a long time.
“It took a long time to figure out the exact angles. A lot of trial and error, a few cases of almost blinding myself when it reflected right in my eyes. As far as I know, no one else really comes up here. If they do, they haven’t touched any of the windows or these.” He lifts up the heavy covers he uses to cover the windows on the nights he feels like sleeping in this room. “I didn’t think anyone would be, I rent this place from a delightful old man, but it can’t hurt to take precautions.
“Why?”
“Why not? Not everything that makes people happy has to be explained. People pick flowers because they enjoy the scent, they read books because they like following along on someone else’s exciting adventures, they eat things they probably shouldn’t because they taste good. But in addition to that, there’s someone who plants the flowers because someone they love enjoys the smell. There’s someone who writes the books, and cooks the food.”
He pauses for a second, but when it becomes clear that Tommy isn’t going to say anything, he keeps talking.
“I used to draw when I was young. I’m sure I was no great talent back then, but my mother would exclaim over every piece of art of mine that she saw like it was a long lost painting from a long-dead artist. Drawing was something I liked to do, and it was made better by how much she enjoyed them.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
“So you’ll understand.”
Though all the carefully adjusted windows reflect light from the moon and each other, lighting up the room in a cascade of light that Tobias can safely walk through without the threat of dying, the usual awe he feels in seeing it pales so completely to the sight of the light playing over Tommy’s face when he turns that it freezes him in place for a second.
“Understand what?”
“You wanted to know why I sent you the flowers. It’s the same reason why I drew for my mother. Just like why mothers knit clothes for their children, or why wives bake sweet things for their husbands. We all want to see the people we care about be happy.”

Thank you so much for tagging me, @stellanslashgeode Challenge accepted!!
Most hits  Anisoka: Conspiracy on Ringo Vinda (4,582)I am amazed how this story turned out to be my most popular.  When I was deeply saddened by the Barriss Offee plot twist in 2013, I not only started writing lots of Barrissoka stories, I started doing other Ahsoka ships just to create some harmony with fans of other shippings.  It’s part 2 of an Anisoka trilogy, but it is definitely the one that gets the most love.  It’s more fun of an adventure since I modeled the story from the Hospital scenes from “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”, so it has a mirthful adventure about saving Tup and Fives from Palpatine’s schemes
Fewest hits  Obinara: The Long Shot (139) I think this one is a recent story, so it doesn’t have as many views yet, but I like building this ship over time, so we’ll see how it looks in a year.  It’s a cool adventure with a fast, edge of your seat escape (I love writing those kind of stories, though I perfectly understand that fans are probably getting tired of my one schtick story method, lol)
Most kudos Anisoka: Conspiracy on Ringo Vinda (173) Again, a fun adventure that gets madcap when Anakin and Ahsoka help save Tup from impending doom.  I love my Barrissoka stories but they are perhaps too dramatic and sappy with the action romance.  Again, this story was a slight departure from my usual predictable style.
Most comments Epiphany (18) An inspiring story where I assumed Ahsoka could sense Anakin’s redemption while she fought anonymously during the battle over Endor.  I wanted a feel good thang with a connection to Episode VI
Fewest comments  The Dying of the Light (2) There are plenty of stories with no comments, so I just took the one with the fewest.  I’m still proud of this story after 10 years.  I wrote it during a time of Star Wars canon despair but it has helped me to appreciate throwing awesome poetry into my Fiction mixes.
Most bookmarks  Anisoka: Conspiracy on Ringo Vinda (21)  Again, this story resonates well with Anisoka fans, but maybe Star Wars readers in General.  If you’ve never seen Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, it’s a great movie about saving Earth, Saving the Whales, and Hospital antics to save one of the crew while stuck in the 20th Century.  Awesome film
Fewest bookmarks  Jar Jar/Julia: The Phantoms of Carnage (1) I wanted to give a little love to Jar Jar (though I am jealous that Lucas made Jar Jar’s romance canon while us other shippers have to watch from outside the Star Wars window) Harmless romance adventure
Most words Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (48,433) I think it makes sense that this has the most words, since I think AotC is the movie with the greatest potential of missed opportunities in story.  I rewrote the Prequels in my own image between 2005-2010, and I am rather proud of the changes and character arcs I gave, and I am so happy to have found a huge fanbase online when I thought I was the only one writing deeper stories for Barriss Offee before 2013.
Fewest words  Barradin: All Our Tomorrows (728) Cuz I still do a little bit with shipping Barriss and a poor OC boy named Conradin who meant well.  Conrad was a character based off of a historical boy, Conrad of Hohenstaufen, Duke of Swabia (1252-1268) A direct descendant of Charlemagne, this kid was just like Joan of Arc and Edward the Black Prince.  Another teen thrust into midievel wars by adults who couldn’t handle things.  His short journey inspired me with an OC who is almost destined for greatness but was never meant to achieve that greatness.  This was just a short story that paired Conrad and Barriss together as a couple with new struggles.  I’m more of a Barrissoka shipper now, but Barradin was a nice place to start :) Conrad’s story can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conradin
No pressure tag to @jedimasterbailey @devondeal @lesbiansandpuns @thecleverqueer @425599167
stats tag game
Thank you so much for tagging me, @kalevalakryze ! This will be fun.
Most hits (1,148) Sundari Lament: This one makes sense. It is twelve chapters and I updated it fairly regularly so it was pushed up to the newly added search results quite consistently. This is the one I'm most proud of and the one I will point new readers to. If the Concerto is what I'm known for that's fine with me. I had a lot to say with this one and I think I communicated it well with the right dramatic flair and tone.
Fewest hits (163) Lavender and Chartreuse: The one is always going to be my little lost lamb. It's a ship nobody was asking for. The fanbase for Resistance is miniscule. But I really like it. It's the only one I started with the goal of writing erotica and I think it delivers. It has my favorite moment of intimacy in one of my stories, involving the belt of a bathrobe. If anyone wants to make fanart of my work I would love to see that scene illustrated. I think it's really sweet.
Most kudos (49) Heart of Kyber: This story has taught me a lot about my audience. I write stories about Barriss and what most people who seek out those stories truly want is her smooching Ahsoka. I get it, trust me. It will take some time for another one of my works to surpass the kudos for this one, it regularly chugs along and picks up more. I really love this one. I put in a lot of my personal feelings about forgiveness and what it takes to love someone who hurt you. I like to think it comes out in the writing.
Most comments (58) Inferno: I know why this one has so many comments, it's controversial! The thought behind it was "Okay, Dave. You want to do Barriss dirty like that, make her a criminal? Then go all out! Make her a real radical, explain her motivations, and have her team up with all the other radicals in the series to really accomplish something!" In retrospect I didn't explain effectively some character choices which led to some of the comments. This one arrived in a firehose of inspiration; I was updating every day, so it got a lot of early attention. I think it got shared somewhere, maybe Reddit, because a lot of readers I don't know showed up. And it made some people big mad. Hense the comments.
Fewest comments (0) Lavender and Chartreuse: Again, under loved. What I like most about this one is that since it's told from the POV of a temporarily blinded person who has a one-night stand. It's very sensual. It's all "oh this person has strong arms", it's all touch and smell and taste. It's about vulnerability and seeking comfort though closeness. I really like this one. I think the title is really clever on top of everything else.
Most bookmarks (12) Sundari Lament: I could see why people wanted to bookmark and wait until it was finished!
Fewest bookmarks (0) Jedi: Dropout- This one was an experiment to see if an all-OC story would appeal to readers. I used to mainly for worldbuilding and writing this cute clueless couple who were not heroes but had to adapt to dangerous circumstances. It's my other weird little child.
Most words (50,678) Sundari Lament: I did not expect it to get this long but when you're filling in what happened behind the scenes over three seasons of a television series you can get a little carried away. I didn't realize when I started how many times the action goes back to Sunari, so I had to account for that and this one had a lot of character development, so it needed time to breathe. I think it's the right length for what it needed to accomplish.
Fewest words (13,003) From Uncanny unto Concordance: L&C is a one-shot so I'm not counting that one (it's just over 5K). This story was designed to be short, one chapter per season over the course of a year. It was designed to be intimate and a relatively small story. I'm happy with how it turned out and I am enjoying fleshing out the AU in the sequel.

Hello hello! I was wondering if I could get a request about Bakugo coming home to a worn out reader? Like, the reader takes care of people for a living and they’re at the end of their rope. It can be sfw or nsfw, you can choose. Thanks!! 💥
Summary: When bakugou finds out the toll your job takes on you after an incident he tries to comfort you
Characters: dynamite/king explosion murder/Bakugou Katsuki
Warnings: mentions of blood, death, depression?
Authors note: I wrote a whole different story and forgot to save so i rewrote it and made it a sfw instead of a nsfw. Also i hope it's ok i went the mental route instead of exhaustion.
———————————————————————-
“We need a nurse in room 16” the speakers announced as you rushed into the room.
The patient was loosing a lot of blood and even worse the patient was just a little girl. You ran into the room as quickly as you could after a day of exhaustion.
The stench of blood filled your nose. You rushed over to the lead doctors to assess the situation at hand.
“Doctor what’s happening?!”
The heart monitor screeched to signal that the amount of oxygen the girl was taking in was lowering.
“She’s in hypovolemic shock, it’s not likely she’ll make it” the doctor said in a panicked tone.
Your mind stiffened at the thought of this sweet little girl dying “We have to do anything to save her, her dying is not a choice”
You rushed over to her bedside putting an intravenous line into her arm to allow blood to be put into her system.
Just as you were about to insert the blood into the iv you stumbled, causing you to have to get another one.
You rushed down the hallway to get another blood bag. As you raced back into the girls room only to hear the monitor flatline, stopping you in your tracks.
This was not the first time a patient has died. This was the first patient who happened to be a little girl who might’ve still been alive if it wasn’t for your clumsiness who had died. She was the first child who had died under your list of patients.
You stared at the door of the room as the happiness drained out of your eyes and quickly replaced with sorrow.
You had been called in all week to this hospital and this was the only person you have failed to save. The worst part about it was that you had met her prior to what led up to her being here.
She was the same little girl who was stuck in a crossfire between a superhero and a villain. You saved her then, but now that it was your literal job to save her you couldn’t.
You drove home in silence as the guilt consumed you as you finally parked in your driveway. You stumbled hazily into your house and collapsed on your couch.
You threw the phone as your fiancé bombarded your phone with texts and calls. You didn’t want to speak to anyone. No, you didn’t deserve to speak to anyone.
Your fiancé rushed to your job from you not answering and him getting worried. His red eyes widened as the staff explained to him what happened and that you had taken the rest of the day off.
He sped away in his car to find you as anger creeped into his crimson eyes, knowing you’re blaming yourself for a situation that was out of your control from the beginning.
“Fuckin’ idiot” he yelled while calling you again only to be sent to voicemail.
He parked the car and jumped out, not even worrying about turning off the engine.
He walks to your shared house only to see you’ve left the door open with your items thrown everywhere in the living room.
He rushed into the bedroom to find you broken and crying in the corner. He had never once seen you this mentally and physically drained.
Your eyes were puffy from crying, hair distressed across your head, clothes matted and wrinkled. The alarming part was that this was you only an hour after.
He carefully walked over to your sobbing figure only to be met with dull eyes. You were waddling in your own guilt and sorrow.
As he tried to pull you towards him you quickly pushed him away, not wanting to be consoled. Not wanting to feel better. You felt as if you cause this and that you deserved to feel like shit.
He only clicked his tongue and yanked you into his comfort.
“The fuck is you doing that for. You know the shit wasn’t your fault.”
You looked at him as tears blurred your vision for the hundredth time today.
“A little girl died today. A LITTLE FUCKING GIRL DIED Katsuki. BECAUSE I WASN’T QUICK ENOUGH!”
He glared at you and shook your shoulders.
“That wasn’t your damn fault” he said as if he had 0 cares or remorse about this.
“ITS MY JOB TO SAVE. I FAILED” “ YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW WHAT THIS FEELS LIKE.”
Silenced washed over the both of you as you looked at him and tried to walk away.
He quickly gripped your arm and pulled you against his chest.
“You can’t save them all. You think I’ve never cried over a civilian who didn’t make it?”
You looked up to see his prideful eyes water as tears brim.
“You can’t save everyone.” he whispered in your ear
you sat quietly in his embrace as you let out your final sobs.
“i know.. but what good is this being my job if i can't even do that correctly”
Katsuki looked at you with his lips pressed into a firm line. “you’ve saved so many people, and so many more to come”
You just looked at him amazed. Everyone knows Katsuki Bakugou was never the sentimental type. Even in the 4 years of you both dates, he's never been so soft with you.
Though the current events isn't something you can easily forgive yourself for, him showing this much kindness and love let's you know you'll eventually overcome this tragedy.
You cupped your fiancé cheeks and kissed him slowly as tears ran down your cheek. You didn't know if you were crying from the fact you knew you'd be okay, or Katsuki's cheering you up with his gentle and kind words.
His eyes widen as he slowly began to kiss back.
"Thank you" was all you could mutter while kissing him.
He just pulled you closer and deepens the kiss only to pull away for a split second to say "yeah, whatever next time don't be an idiot, blaming yourself for shit that wasn't your fault"
you laughed softly because you're normal egotistical, Brash, and blunt fiancé was back.

It only took 42 minutes for an all-male jury to convict Mary Ware Dennett. Her crime? Sending a sex education pamphlet through the mail.
Charged with violating the Comstock Act of 1873—one of a series of so-called chastity laws—Dennett, a reproductive rights activist, had written and illustrated the booklet in question for her own teenage sons, as well as for parents around the country looking for a new way to teach their children about sex.
Lawyer Morris Ernst filed an appeal, setting in motion a federal court case that signaled the beginning of the end of the country’s obscenity laws. The pair’s victory marked the zenith of Dennett’s life work, building on her previous efforts to publicize and increase access to contraception and sex education. (Prior to the trial, she was best known as the more conservative rival of Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood.) Today, however, United States v. Dennett and its defendant are relatively unknown.
“One of the reasons the Dennett case hasn’t gotten the attention that it deserves is simply because it was an incremental victory, but one that took the crucial first step,” says Laura Weinrib, a constitutional historian and law scholar at Harvard University. “First steps are often overlooked. We tend to look at the culmination and miss the progression that got us there.”

Dennett wrote the pamphlet in question, The Sex Side of Life: An Explanation for Young People, in 1915. Illustrated with anatomically correct drawings, it provided factual information, offered a discussion of human physiology and celebrated sex as a natural human act.
“[G]ive them the facts,” noted Dennett in the text, “… but also give them some conception of sex life as a vivifying joy, as a vital art, as a thing to be studied and developed with reverence for its big meaning, with understanding of its far-reaching reactions, psychologically and spiritually.”
After Dennett’s 14-year-old son approved the booklet, she circulated it among friends who, in turn, shared it with others. Eventually, The Sex Side of Life landed on the desk of editor Victor Robinson, who published it in his Medical Review of Reviewsin 1918. Calling the pamphlet “a splendid contribution,” Robinson added, “We know nothing that equals Mrs. Dennett’s brochure.” Dennett, for her part, received so many requests for copies that she had the booklet reprinted and began selling it for a quarter to anyone who wrote to her asking for one.
These transactions flew in the face of the Comstock Laws, federal and local anti-obscenity legislation that equated birth control with pornography and rendered all devices and information for the prevention of conception illegal. Doctors couldn’t discuss contraception with their patients, nor could parents discuss it with their children.

The Sex Side of Life offered no actionable advice regarding birth control. As Dennett acknowledged in the brochure, “At present, unfortunately, it is against the law to give people information as to how to manage their sex relations so that no baby will be created.” But the Comstock Act also stated that any printed material deemed “obscene, lewd or lascivious”—labels that could be applied to the illustrated pamphlet—was “non-mailable.” First-time offenders faced up to five years in prison or a maximum fine of $5,000.
In the same year that Dennett first wrote the brochure, she co-founded the National Birth Control League (NBCL), the first organization of its kind. The group’s goal was to change obscenity laws at a state level and unshackle the subject of sex from Victorian morality and misinformation.
By 1919, Dennett had adopted a new approach to the fight for women’s rights. A former secretary for state and national suffrage associations, she borrowed a page from the suffrage movement, tackling the issue on the federal level rather than state-by-state. She resigned from the NBCL and founded the Voluntary Parenthood League, whose mission was to pass legislation in Congress that would remove the words “preventing conception” from federal statutes, thereby uncoupling birth control from pornography.
Dennett soon found that the topic of sex education and contraception was too controversial for elected officials. Her lobbying efforts proved unsuccessful, so in 1921, she again changed tactics. Though the Comstock Laws prohibited the dissemination of obscene materials through the mail, they granted the postmaster general the power to determine what constituted obscenity. Dennett reasoned that if the Post Office lifted its ban on birth control materials, activists would win a partial victory and be able to offer widespread access to information.
Postmaster General William Hays, who had publicly stated that the Post Office should not function as a censorship organization, emerged as a potential ally. But Hays resigned his post in January 1922 without taking action. (Ironically, Hays later established what became known as the Hays Code, a set of self-imposed restrictions on profanity, sex and morality in the motion picture industry.) Dennett had hoped that the incoming postmaster general, Hubert Work, would fulfill his predecessor’s commitments. Instead, one of Work’s first official actions was to order copies of the Comstock Laws prominently displayed in every post office across America. He then declared The Sex Side of Life “unmailable” and “indecent.”

Undaunted, Dennett redoubled her lobbying efforts in Congress and began pushing to have the postal ban on her booklet removed. She wrote to Work, pressing him to identify which section was obscene, but no response ever arrived. Dennett also asked Arthur Hays, chief counsel of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), to challenge the ban in court. In letters preserved at Radcliffe College’s Schlesinger Library, Dennett argued that her booklet provided scientific and factual information. Though sympathetic, Hays declined, believing that the ACLU couldn’t win the case.
By 1925, Dennett—discouraged, broke and in poor health—had conceded defeat regarding her legislative efforts and semi-retired. But she couldn’t let the issue go entirely. She continued to mail The Sex Side of Life to those who requested copies and, in 1926, published a book titled Birth Control Laws: Shall We Keep Them, Change Them, or Abolish Them?
Publicly, Dennett’s mission was to make information about birth control legal; privately, however, her motivation was to protect other women from the physical and emotional suffering she had endured.
The activist wed in 1900 and gave birth to three children, two of whom survived, within five years. Although the specifics of her medical condition are unknown, she likely suffered from lacerations of the uterus or fistulas, which are sometimes caused by childbirth and can be life-threatening if one becomes pregnant again.
Without access to contraceptives, Dennett faced a terrible choice: refrain from sexual intercourse or risk death if she conceived. Within two years, her husband had left her for another woman.
Dennett obtained custody of her children, but her abandonment and lack of access to birth control continued to haunt her. Eventually, these experiences led her to conclude that winning the vote was only one step on the path to equality. Women, she believed, deserved more.
In 1928, Dennett again reached out to the ACLU, this time to lawyer Ernst, who agreed to challenge the postal ban on the Sex Side of Life in court. Dennett understood the risks and possible consequences to her reputation and privacy, but she declared herself ready to “take the gamble and be game.” As she knew from press coverage of her separation and divorce, newspaper headlines and stories could be sensational, even salacious. (The story was considered scandalous because Dennett’s husband wanted to leave her to form a commune with another family.)

Dennett cofounded the National Birth Control League, the first organization of its kind in the U.S., in 1915. Three years later, she launched the Voluntary Parenthood League, which lobbied Congress to change federal obscenity laws.
Sharon Spaulding / Dennett Family Archive
“Dennett believed that anyone who needed contraception should get it without undue burden or expense, without moralizing or gatekeeping by the medical establishment,” says Stephanie Gorton, author of Citizen Reporters: S.S. McClure, Ida Tarbell and the Magazine That Rewrote America. “Though she wasn’t fond of publicity, she was willing to endure a federal obscenity trial so the next generation could have accurate sex education—and learn the facts of life without connecting them with shame or disgust.”
In January 1929, before Ernst had finalized his legal strategy, Dennett was indicted by the government. Almost overnight, the trial became national news, buoyed by The Sex Side of Life’s earlier endorsement by medical organizations, parents’ groups, colleges and churches. The case accomplished a significant piece of what Dennett had worked 15 years to achieve: Sex, censorship and reproductive rights were being debated across America.
During the trial, assistant U.S. attorney James E. Wilkinson called the Sex Side of Life “pure and simple smut.” Pointing at Dennett, he warned that she would “lead our children not only into the gutter, but below the gutter and into the sewer.”
None of Dennett’s expert witnesses were allowed to testify. The all-male jury took just 45 minutes to convict. Ernst filed an appeal.
In May, following Dennett’s conviction but prior to the appellate court’s ruling, an investigative reporter for the New York Telegram uncovered the source of the indictment. A postal inspector named C.E. Dunbar had been “ordered” to investigate a complaint about the pamphlet filed by an official with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Using the pseudonym Mrs. Carl Miles, Dunbar sent a decoy letter to Dennett requesting a copy of the pamphlet. Unsuspecting, Dennett mailed the copy, thereby setting in motion her indictment, arrest and trial. (Writing about the trial later, Dennett noted that the DAR official who allegedly made the complaint was never called as a witness or identified. The activist speculated, “Is she, perhaps, as mythical as Mrs. Miles?”)
Dennett’s is a name that deserves to be known.
When news of the undercover operation broke, Dennett wrote to her family that “support for the case is rolling up till it looks like a mountain range.” Leaders from the academic, religious, social and political sectors formed a national committee to raise money and awareness in support of Dennett; her name became synonymous with free speech and sex education.
In March 1930, an appellate court reversed Dennett’s conviction, setting a landmark precedent. It wasn’t the full victory Dennett had devoted much of her life to achieving, but it cracked the legal armor of censorship.
“Even though Mary Ware Dennett wasn’t a lawyer, she became an expert in obscenity law,” says constitutional historian Weinrib. “U.S. v. Dennett was influential in that it generated both public enthusiasm and money for the anti-censorship movement. It also had a tangible effect on the ACLU’s organizational policies, and it led the ACLU to enter the fight against all forms of what we call morality-based censorship.”
Ernst was back in court the following year. Citing U.S. v. Dennett, he won two lawsuits on behalf of British sex educator Marie Stopes and her previously banned books, Married Love and Contraception. Then, in 1933, Ernst expanded on arguments made in the Dennett case to encompass literature and the arts. He challenged the government’s ban on James Joyce’s Ulysses and won, in part because of the precedent set by Dennett’s case. Other important legal victories followed, each successively loosening the legal definition of obscenity. But it was only in 1970 that the Comstock Laws were fully struck down.
Ninety-two years after Dennett’s arrest, titles dealing with sex continue to top the list of the American Library Association’s most frequently challenged books. Sex education hasn’t fared much better. As of September 2021, only 18 states require sex education to be medically accurate, and only 30 states mandate sex education at all. The U.S. has one of the highestteen pregnancy rates of all developed nations.
What might Dennett think or do if she were alive today? Lauren MacIvor Thompson, a historian of early 20th-century women’s rights and public health at Kennesaw State University, takes the long view:
While it’s disheartening that we are fighting the same battles over sex and sex education today, I think that if Dennett were still alive, she’d be fighting with school boards to include medically and scientifically accurate, inclusive, and appropriate information in schools. … She’d [also] be fighting to ensure fair contraceptive and abortion access, knowing that the three pillars of education, access and necessary medical care all go hand in hand.
At the time of Dennett’s death in 1947, The Sex Side of Life had been translated into 15 languages and printed in 23 editions. Until 1964, the activist’s family continued to mail the pamphlet to anyone who requested a copy.
“As a lodestar in the history of marginalized Americans claiming bodily autonomy and exercising their right to free speech in a cultural moment hostile to both principles,” says Gorton, “Dennett’s is a name that deserves to be known.”

1) How many works do you have on AO3?
120.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
328404. Which makes my fics 2736,7 words long, on average.
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
 26.
Agent Carter, All About Eve, Angel, The Borgias, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chronicles of Narnia, Doctor Who, both classic and new series, Dracula/The Historian, Emily of New Moon, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell , Harry Potter, Ivanhoe, Labyrinth, The Man in the High Castle, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Mummy Series, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Penny Dreadful, Peter Pan, Piranesi, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Queen's Gambit, Sleepy Hollow (1999), Timeless, Versailles (TV 2015) and Victoria
 4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Ghosts (The Mummy Series. Evy/Rick, Evy/Ardeth, Evy/Imhotep)
The Number of Vices (The Queen’s Gambit, Beth/Borgov)
The Might of His Strength (The Mummy Series. Evy/Rick, Evy/Ardeth/Imhotep, Evy/Imhotep)
The Black King (The Queen’s Gambit, Beth/Borgov)
A Moment (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Midge Maisel/Lenny Bruce)
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I do. However, it can take me forever to get around answering them. And if the comment is just an emoji, I will probably not answer.
 6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Considering I have written a lot of angst, this was really hard. But if I have to choose one, I’d say a Sleepy Hollow-fic called Hell.
7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Crow’s Feet On the Prettiest Eyes (Doctor Who, Sarah Jane Smith/The Doctor) or The Black King (The Queen’s Gambit, Beth/Borgov)m which both are about lovers who are reunited after many years apart.
8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really  I’ve borrowed a character from Pan Am for a The Queen’s Gambit fic, but that wasn’t much of a crossover, really. And I have one Piranesi/Chronicles of Narnia crossover, but that one isn’t particularly crazy either, given how many Narnia-references Piranesy contains.
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes. A couple of years ago a person read some of my explicit, and very well-tagged fics only to give me several comments on how disgusting the found explicit fics in general, and the tags i used in particular. Personally I would say that the easiest way to not be disgusted by that would be to NOT READ THOSE FICS!
10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do. Quite a lot, actually. Mostly F/M, but sometimes also threesomes. As for kind of sex it ranges from fluffy vanilla to BDSM.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, though one I’m currently writing is certainly co-conceived.
14) What’s your all time favorite ship?
I honestly can’t say; I have so many. My current favourite shup is Beth Harmon/Vasily Borgov from The Queen’s Gambit. Before that I burned for Fabien Marchal/Sophie de Clermont from the TV show Versailles. No, wait, my favourite ship must be the OT3 Rick/Evy/Ardeth from The Mummy series, as that ship precedes the other, and is still around.
15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I currently have 5 WIPs posted on AO3  3 of them I’m writing actively on and plan to finish in the foreseeable future. Then I have two WIPs that’s over 10 years old. An extremely dark Sleepy Hollow-fic about Lady Van Tassel, and one humorous Harry Potter-fic about Dudley Dursley. I like them both, and have the plot properly mapped out, but I have yet to find it in me to finish them. I would still like to do that, though! However, I have one Peter Pan fic that I actually removed from AO3 because not only is it a 15 year old WIP, I have also completely forgotten how I wanted it to end. That one I doubt I will ever touch again.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Emotions. I’m good with emotions, and nowadays I think my dialogue flows quite well too. I’ve been told I write good sex scenes too.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Plots! Most of my fics are one-shots with few characters, mainly dealing with emotions. I used to be very bad at being descriptive, but I’m actively working on improving that. I can be brief to a fault, too.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
So far it’s something I have glossed over in the few cases it has been somewhat relevant for the fic. If I did, however, I would probably write the foreign language in italicized English. Unless it was a language no one else in the fic underwood- then I would write it in the original language.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Peter Pan, back in 2004, after seeing a promo pic of Jason Isaacs as Captain Hook.
20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Another one of those impossible questions. How can I choose. I’m sorry, It has to be my favourite fics, in plural.
A Place in the Shadows (Penny Dreadful, Vanessa Ives & Sembene), because it turned out exactly as I envisioned it. And I really like the themes of friendship, and cake.
Professor Keller (Doctor Who, Delgado!Master) because it’s my most ambitious fic to date- I even rewrote it completely. I really think I managed the escalating horror of two completely normal people getting their lives destroyed by the Master.
Homeward (The Borgias, Cesare/Micheletto, Lucrezia & Micheletto). I’m not sure why, but I just really, really like this one, and it’s one of my fics that I reread regularly.
A Conversation in the Yellow Drawing-Room, And Other Letters To Mrs Strange (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell, Lady Pole/John Childermass). In most of my fics the female protagonist saves herself, and this is probably the prime example. I really enjoyed writing Lady Pole making her life the way she wants it for a change, and, ultimately, saving herself, with a little help from her friends.  I also really enjoyed making use of a few fairy tales tropes.

Note
somehow every chapter you post is always better than the last. like every time i think a chapter is my new favorite you post something that takes my breath away.
i finally got around to reading the newest moc chapter and have come to the conclusion that i will never love a piece of written work as much as i love moc. the emotion that’s put into every bit of dialogue and the way each character is written just blows me away. the character development is really some of the best ive seen.
this entire chapter had me on the edge of my seat. ive mentioned before how you’re writing sucks me in. how real everything feels whenever i read each chapter and this was no different. the way you describe the scenes and write emotions made me feel like i was standing in those hallways myself, anxiously waiting to see san again. the reunion had tears in my eyes and made my heart jump out of my chest. the line “Y/N… my darling, come here.” actually made me want to jump off of a cliff i literally couldn’t handle it. the way san is written breaks my fcukin heart dude i cant.
i know i do this almost every time you post a new chapter but this story just keeps getting better and im so excited to see how things develop even further.
also the seen where y/n rips the guards heart out made me irrationally happy😀 #girlboss
HI BESTIE im finally here sorry for taking so long </3 but WOW pls to hear each one is better than the last that’s such an amazing compliment to me. tbh i’ll admit that i’ve recently thought that the quality has gone down? and that i’m not writing as well despite trying really hard to write well which is just a matter of insecurities and being overly critical with myself so to hear that you think it’s getting better and better makes me so 💓💕💞💖💓💕💞
im so???/ never love a piece of written work as much as you love moc???? BESTIE 😭😭 you blow me away every time with your compliments and im always so ?!?! how to speak bc im left speechless T_T
i think the hardest part of 40 was finding that even point of fantasy and realism, and that’s why i took so long in writing it bc i was having a hard time reaching a point i was satisfied with so hearing that it was executed well is so <33 thank u so much ;-; i wrote and rewrote that one line of dialogue for san so many times bc it somehow still felt TOO FAST believe it or not oml jfgioerghuil but i think san’s character as a whole is like a love letter to me, it’s a playground for me to write emotions and figure out how i want to write them and i love getting to bring him to life in those ways and bring him to you guys too
we do love a good #girlboss rip a heart out moment tho i must say 😗

The caricature of Margaret Beaufort:
From pop culture POV and the POV of those influenced by it, this powerful matriarch is all of the following: Religious nut case! Bitch. She killed the princes in the tower! Old and ugly! Screw her! She and her son were the worst thing that happened to England!
And yet her son became the founder of a dynasty that reigned for more than a century and continues to fascinate us. Now on to the real Meg Beaufort. In the White Queen she is all this and that but the real Meg was no religious nut case and she certainly didn't plan the murder of the Princes and you can debate me countless times on this but there is no concrete evidence that she did! Richard had more than enough motive and opportunity to kill the Princes and oh wait before I get the Ricardians on my case, I don't hate Richard. I actually find him interesting, I wouldn't find him interesting if he was perfect. Richard had learned from his brother's mistakes but made mistakes of his own. If he produced the boys then that would've propelled them to sainthood and the last thing he wanted was a cult was already building around Henry VI. What happened with this last monarch is fascinating and you might be wondering -hey! Isn't that the guy they smothered with a pillow in the White Queen? Yeah, that's the one. Except there are so many theories abounding to his death. The first one comes from Bettini who wrote three weeks after the Lancastrian king's death that it was Edward NOT Richard who gave the order. At the time the blame was solely pinned on Edward, so let's not confuse contemporary sources with secondary. Rous and Vergil writing in the Tudor period pinned the murder on Richard and even early Ricardians say that he did it, but with one major difference -*under* Edward's orders. If this is so, one thing we can all agree, if Richard gave the order or personally took care of Henry, it was all done under his brother's command. But this backfired, soon people were attributing all sorts of miracles to this guy, he became more famous in death than he had ever been in life. Edward tried hard to suppress this cult but he couldn't and Richard did the next best thing. If you can't beat them, join 'em! He cashed in on the cult and officiated a reburial of the dead monarch and started all new kinds of celebrations for him but people still talked as they always do. Now if he had produced the dead children as he and his brother had done with the Lancastrian king, then it would've been chaos, complete and utter chaos!
Margaret Beaufort's sole aim up until the princes disappearance in the summer of 1483 was to gain back her son's lands and bring him back safely. She was forced to give him up before after the Lancaster line had been wiped out from the face of the earth by Yorkist forces, ending to some historians' view, the wars of the roses in 1471. Margaret would not see him until the aftermath of Bosworth in 1485. She had little to worry about the first years of his exile, he was with his uncle Jasper, his father's brother. They intended to sail to the French court, a court his uncle knew very well but landed in Brittany instead because of the bad weather. Brittany was not on good terms with the French and they had their fair share of enmity with the English so it served the Duke well to have two valuable English hostages, one who had a considerable (if debatable) claim to the English throne via his mother. Edward attempted to coax the old Duke into give up his charge and while the Duke never believed Edward's intentions, some of his ministers did and those who didn't just wanted to cash in on the juicy rewards. Henry was an intelligent youth who was far from the serious and mama's boy he's depicted in today's fiction. He loved to laugh, play, joke and gamble. But he was aware how valuable he was and at one point feigned sickness and took sanctuary in a church when he suspected his future voyage to England was a hoax -which it was -and that small trickery on his part saved him.

By 1480, Margaret had more than enough to worry, but she wasn't giving up on her son's legacy. With Edward's promise to marry him to his eldest daughter, Margaret continued to rely on the faith that gave comfort to so many women in this period, and Edward's promise, albeit a fake one, was something she never let go of. The accession of Richard and Anne changed all that. Always an opportunist at heart, she tried to curry favor with the new regime. Whether she agreed with it or not -we will never know but her husband was an official in Richard's government and she had more than enough reason to believe that Richard would grant her her request to bring her son back. After all he was more busy convincing everyone his brother had never been legally married to Elizabeth and securing his position. But surprise, surprise for Margaret and everyone involved. Her life was never easy, it was one obstacle after another and this was no different. The boys' disappearance changed everything and Buckingham's rebellion gave her a chance she had never considered before. Her moment to shine had come. She was no longer looking to bring her son back as a mere earl but as a king so she started plotting with the queen dowager through her Welsh doctor. After a lot of plotting and intrigue and tragedy at Richard's court, her son's shining moment came and thanks to the defection of his stepfather from Richard's camp to his side, he won. There is a famous myth that his stepfather, Thomas Stanley found the crown in a thorn bush but this is likely Tudor propaganda. Richard's treatment afterwards was one that's always given by the victor to the loser, stripped of all his clothes and shamefully paraded, he was then written as the worst monarch that ever lived.
Tumblr media
And while I do agree there needs to be a better assessment of Richard, doing the same to Margaret and Richard is just as dumb. She was born in 1443 and a year after, John Beaufort, her father and Duke of Somerset died. Many said at the time that it was because of suicide because of his terrible leadership in France. Truth or not, Margaret was now a wealthy heiress and her wardship was widely sought after. William de la Pole, the crown's favorite tried to marry her to his son, but after he was murdered, at only nine years old Margaret was brought to court to swear that she never intended to marry his son. Later she rewrote history saying that it was because of a godly vision that told her that it was her destiny to marry Edmund Tudor and establish a great house, that she denied it. Margaret married at only 12 and Edmund Tudor, anxious to get his hands on her wealth, didn't bother to wait. He impregnated her less than a year after and she gave birth in January 1457 when she was months away from being 14, to her only offspring. The birth damaged her, she never had any children with her other spouses. She had a happy marriage with her next spouse, Henry Stafford and they celebrated their anniversary in big style every year and even housed Edward IV in their hunting lodged in one occasion. This doesn't sound like the power hungry, vindictive Margaret of TV. And that's because she wasn't! She was very learned and founded and refounded many colleges, chief among them: Christ's College which had previously been God's House and St. John's in Cambridge. Aware that only the privileged few could attend these institutions she voiced her concerns in 1479, and her attempts bore fruit when Wimborne College was established posthumously in 1509, which was later renamed Queen Elizabeth's school. She also established the Lady Margaret Beaufort Professorship of Divinity at Cambridge in 1502 and the first women's college in Oxford was named after her.
In spite of her joy of seeing her son crowned, she could not help herself. Fisher and many contemporaries described how she cried -a clear sign of a woman that doesn't care about power- and when asked why, she responded because she had lived through so many kings and princes who had been murdered and killed in battle. Who knew if her son was next or if his reign would last. She cried the same tears of grief on her grandson's joint coronation with Katherine, fearing that his reign would face the same troubles.

Margaret passed away days after in 1509, after a long life of hardship and triumph.

WAIT ive had an epiphany.,,you know how ranboo enderman??? and doesnt know backstory?? what if,, ok ok hear me out what if ender drago
YEAYAYAE IN MY SBI FIC FROM A COUPLE MONTHS AGO THAT WAS ACTUALLY GOING TO BE A PLOT POINT W THE ENDER DRAGON!
i rewrote the chapter like five times to make it the one it is today but originally, ranboo was going to have grown up in the end after being left there, and be raised by the ender dragon as his mom- it was an alright existence but it was ultimately lonely, as the endermen had no consciousness, and ranboo basically had to be left to his own devices til dream came and slayed the dragon (without knowledge of her adopted child), and ranboo left through the portal
it also wouldve accounted for his memory loss in the story- via a little snippet of conversation i wrote between him and his mon where she told him that his soul and memories are connected to the end like the other endermen and herself.
also in the story, she was trapped in the end, having used to be free to roam in the overworld and nether and rule over her subjects, til players spawned into existence, unknowingly creating the end and sealing the dragon inside so they could play without hinderance. not a conscious choice of the players- an automatic process, because the world had no room for so many sentient beings.

fic writer interview
tagged by - @frill-shark !! I WAS TAGGED IN JANUARY BUT I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO DO IT SO UM. OOPS AKDBKABRWJ
name - hi hello im leo!! i also go by hawk & spooky! hawk is my fursona's name and i used to use spooky a lot while playing among us and got attached to the nickname :o
fandoms - uhh usually i don't write for that many fandoms bc my hyperfixations come and go akbflabrkw but currently i write a lot of subnautica and warrior cats! i also used to write a bit of dbh but uh. my interest in that game dropped HARD i cant even force myself to play it let alone write it anymore so akrhkavrkwhr
where you post - just ao3 😔✊ i usually post links to my writings on tumblr but other than that yeah just a03 :o
most popular oneshot - a jerry-centric dbh thing i wrote like 3 years ago now? it has about 500 hits! its the oldest thing on my ao3 besides my warriors stuff and a03 is not a v popular source of warriors content akfnksbrowbr
most popular multi-chapter - my subnautica: survivors au! first thing since my wattpad days that ive felt genuinely happy with and im glad that other ppl enjoyed my niche little au so much!!
fics you were nervous to post - LITERALLY ALL OF THEM TBH. im always kinda nervous to post content but ive gotten a lot better at being less concerned with it recently! although if i had to choose one uneven odds brought me a lot of trouble bc its That specifically catered to myself. i rewrote it like 3 times just to try to get rid of all the embarrassing parts and i refuse to re-read at all KABDOABROABE
how do you choose your titles - i dont i just close my eyes and spin a roulette wheel and see what happens. FR THOUGH i dont rlly know i just kinda.. choose a phrase or word i like (survivors, the last warriors) or sometimes i use song lyrics (uneven odds, a world alone)
do you outline - yes but im awful at it sjfblavrowvriw. i write very VERY vague outlines that are half shitposty and completely useless as an outline to anybody except for me. i often stray wayyy off the outline too and the story almost always ends up no longer following the outline and i free-write by like half way through 😔✊
favorite story ive written so far - as i mentioned above, red survivors!! the entire series is currently at over 125k words altogether and its been so much fun to write and talk about with its readers. its the first multi-chap fic ive finished in YEARS and im so happy ive stuck with it bc it means so much to me, these characters and their world and interactions make me so emo all the time
complete - out of the 6 i have on a03, 4 are finished! granted 3 of those 4 are oneshots bc im typically not that good at finishing multi-chaptered ones. and this number only includes the fics ive finished enough to get a single chap at least out so um. LABDKABDKBA
in progress - i usually only work on 1 fic at a time so i don't forget about one over the other so im only rlly working on a world alone rn! i am planning a remake of my old warriors story so that's technically in progress ive just been really really slow with it,,, oops
coming soon - ok ok actually i have another subnautica themed thing planned where its like a collection of one-shots of characters on the aurora! i rlly want to further explore and expand the survivors au characters and ive been thinking of a few different scenarios that i could write about,,, might never get finished but im hoping to start writing it once awa is completed! sometime this year if all goes well 👀
prompts - i used to take prompts all the time omg, now i never rlly get any :( but i mean hey, ill try to do something for most prompts if anyone is interested… 👀👀
tagging - uhhh idk how many ppl i know are writers buttttt lets see um @ryttu3k @io-wall @stellar-starryy @flamefoxcat @warriorofkungfu !! no pressure to actually do this tho y'all!!!! i honestly have no idea if some of u write at all but ur all cool ass ppl so yeah!! thabk you for reading ilu all have a good day im embarressed over talking so much byeee !!!!
