Author’s note: First off, I’d like to send a special Thank You to someone who was a huge inspiration to me and to this story. This is the chapter that really started it all and I was inspired by @bangtan-sonyeonddaeng ‘s mafia reaction series. She is a fantastic person and was one of the first people I showed this Be My Light to when I was too scared to post it. She is a beautiful soul and wonderful writer. Thank you for the push.
Another Big thanks to my editor for sticking with me all this time and into the future. And, of course, to all the people who are reading, commenting, and reblogging this. I can’t tell you all how much is means to me. Thank you all and I hope you enjoy this next installment of Be My Light. (P.S. I have a thing for RM in a long trench coat.)

Chapter 4: The Mad Leader
You stared at the cell phone clutched in your hand, your mind spinning with so many questions. Who were those people? Why did talking to this ‘RM’ make you feel like something bad was coming? With that deep, serious tone, were they just as dangerous as the man with the cane? And what kind of normal person calls themselves ‘RM’? Agust was already on the edge of interesting and odd as it was. Scanning over the still lit screen, you wondered what other names were in the contact list. Other than ‘God of Destruction’, the last few calls you could see without going through the device belonged to ‘Mochi’, ‘My Favorite’, and ‘Worldwide Pain in my Ass’. Based on those names, you couldn’t begin to imagine who was gonna match those names.
It was safe to assume that this RM guy was concerned about the man in the suit trying to finish the job. The hospital had a good security team but you thought it best to talk to Doctor- Henry- to see if more could be done. Your hand paused as it went to put the cell phone back with Agust’s things; if RM or any of the odd named voices tried to contact you for an update, they would most likely call that, instead of trying to navigate the hospital switch board. Figuring it was the best option, you placed the phone safely in your scrub’s pocket as you moved to the bedside for one last check on the patient. Agust hadn’t moved again since right before the phone call and was still as could be. The monitors were all reading normally. There was a blood transfusion line in his arm to help replace what he had lost, along with another IV pushing fluids and medication. You adjusted his arm to make it more comfortable for him once he woke up.
“I’ll be back to check on you as soon as I can,” you said as you fixed his blankets. “Please, try not to do anything until I get back.”
You slipped out of the room and pulled the door shut behind you. There was an anxious feeling that crept back into your gut, the same one you felt when you had first heard the gun shots ring out from the silence of the construction site. Your mind had so many thoughts and scenarios running through it that you felt overwhelmed. Things like, ‘what if the man with the cane and rough voice came here? Would he shoot his way through the floors until he found Agust? Were you really as safe as you hoped?’ The hospital had been under a few threats but nothing had ever come from those except words. It would be best to stay as cautious as possible. You had too many friends and patients to not take your feelings seriously.
As you made your way towards your station, you were surprised to see that Henry was already there leaning over the desk with the phone pressed up against his ear. He pulled a pad of paper from the other side of the desk and started scribbling something down as he nodded and spoke in a low tone to whomever was on the other end. That saves me from having to page him, you mused. Henry did a double take towards you when he noticed you out of the corner of his eye. He beaconed you over with an urgent wave of his hand. The calm yet awkward demeanor from earlier had been replaced with a more serious one. Once you were within an arm’s reach of him, he reassured whomever he was talking to that ‘everything will be taken care of’ and hung up.
“Good,” he said, placing a hand on your shoulder, “I need you to help me.”
“Henry, about that John Doe patient. I was able to talk to someone close to him. I think we may need to alert the security team about- “
“I’ve already talked to them. The hospital is going on alert for any suspicious activity entering the hospital. And we are actually moving the patient to one of the private units upstairs. I just got off the phone with the director and we’ve got everything worked out for you so you’ll be safe,” he said over his shoulder as he started walking down the hall.
“Wait, what does that mean? What do you mean by worked everything out?” You took extra long steps to keep up with his brisk pace.
“The same person who demanded higher security for that patient requested that you be kept with him as his private staff until otherwise. Which means you’ll be in the secure ward with him in case anything happens. It’s gonna be for the best. You were the first one with him and it’s gonna be more comfortable if he doesn’t have to get acclimated to someone else after all this. Don’t worry, we’ve got it worked out with Jax already.”
Henry led you back into Agust’s room and made fast work of disconnecting him from the machines that surrounded him. He pulled the IV bags down and placed them on the bed by the still form. Meanwhile, you were frozen at the end of the bed, feeling dizzy from how fast he seemed to expect you to understand what was happening. This wasn’t the first gang related case you had been assigned to since starting at Mercy, nor was it the first gunshot case; why did this sudden change to the routine make you feel ever more nervous? Never had you moved a patient into a secure wing designed from more severe or quarantined patients before just because someone had requested it. Henry called your name to shake you from your thoughts and motioned you to move to the side of the bed as he unlocked the wheels of the gurney and pushed the bed from the wall. As you helped guide it from the room, you couldn’t help but feel the tension grow.
“So, I am just supposed to stay locked up in some room like a prisoner? And be someone’s private nurse? What about the rest of my patients here? I can’t just leave Amber to tend to them all alone. We are short staffed as it is,” you mentioned as you navigated everyone into the elevator at the end of the hall.
Henry hit a button and the elevator started to move. He leaned close to look you in the face, his eyes filled with seriousness. “Listen, Y/N, I know this is strange but you just have to trust me. I don’t know all the details but someone particularly important has to be involved to make the director so quick to comply with whatever they asked. But no matter what, your safety is my priority, maybe a bit more than my patients. I’m sure the director thinks that too. Whoever it is must just want to make sure this guy has the best care possible. And when he gets here, he’ll probably want to hear from you what happened. And if whatever gang did this does try anything, I don’t want you to worry because no one is going to get to him or you. Only the director, you, and I will have access to this room or know where he is. Apparently, the man the director talked to said he would have a way to get a hold of you and prove his identity to gain access. I know how you are, Y/N, you are a great person. That’s why you’re so good at what you do. But don’t think that you are inconveniencing anyone; Jax has already rearranged everything and made some calls. I really need you to think about yourself now. And what is best is for you is to do what I am asking and not over think this right now.”
Henry was being so sincere that you couldn’t find the voice to make any arguments. You gave him a weak nod and tried to take what he said to heart. As Amber had pointed out before, one of your qualities was that you put others well before yourself. Hence, why you were in this predicament. As the doors opened onto the new floor, you promised him that you would try.
The door opened onto a floor where the more severe, long term patients were kept. This floor could, also, be used for quarantining or the more delicate of patients. At the moment, you knew it had only a few occupants: a coma patient, a patient suffering from extreme burns, and someone from the psych ward that needed more focused attention. To enter this ward, you needed a key card, making this more isolated than your full and frantic floor. Henry commented there was no record that Agust had been moved in any of the files. And if anyone tried to look him up, it would be like he never existed. The person who had called to make all this happen had said he’d contact you and that he and his colleagues were to say they were here to perform community service if asked by anyone else. Apparently, they deemed it as security protection. Henry had you swipe your ID to gain access to the floor and you made your way down the silent hall to the vacant room Henry had staked out for you to stay in. The room was bigger than the one you were used to on your floor. There was a small couch across from where the bed was to go, a private bath off near the entrance, and even a TV in the corner. There was, also, a small recliner near where the head of the gurney was to rest. You imagined you’d be there most of the time. Henry helped you set everything back up in the room and did a quick check on the patient after he was secured in his new residence.
“Hopefully, he’s gonna wake up a bit soon. He’s reacting well to what I’m doing,” Henry commented as he checked Agust’s pupils constrict as he shined his pen light in them. He gave some instructions about his IV and transfusion processes. He gave you a quick run down of the floor in case you needed anything. “Until he wakes up, I guess feel free to do whatever in here. It can be like a mini vacation. You know, if you ignore all the weird stuff happening. You can watch some TV or order some food. The mysterious man said to spare no expense when it came to our patient or you. I promise by Friday this will be all over and we can go out and talk about nicer things. Okay?”
Before you could stop yourself, you felt your cheeks get hot and you turned your eyes to the floor. This was not the best place for this, but you knew Henry did it to only ease the anxiety you were feeling. He was almost too perfect. Henry promised to check in once he had finished his rounds as he left from the room and pulled the door shut behind him. You heard the security lock click into place, knowing it would only open from the inside or if you had an ID card. You allowed yourself to drop into the recliner, allowing everything to wash over you. Paranoia was thick in the air as you tried to make sense of everything. Henry was right; whoever these people were they must just want to talk to you and this was easier than scouting the halls. But the thought did very little to chase the nervousness away. Your hands started to rub together out of tension, squeezing your fingers, cracking your knuckles one by one with your thumbs. You took a few deep breaths as you tried to force yourself out of the impending panic. Your eyes looked over at the bed. You tried to remind yourself that you needed to keep it together and be strong for him. Then your eyes landed on his hand. You remembered when you were hiding behind the counter when the man with the cane was getting closer and closer. And when Agust had reached over and squeezed your hand. In that moment, he gave you reassurance with such a small gesture, not thinking of himself. You remembered how genuine it felt. It’d be nice if you could do that now, you thought with a weak smile.
Instead, you settled for forcing yourself to think of something else. You read through his charts, tapped through some news on your phone, and tried to people watch out the window behind the couch. The afternoon sun had started making its way towards the horizon; how quickly the day had ended up flying by. You had decided against turning on the television for now, thinking how awkward it would be for him to wake up to you watching some trash TV show. You tried walking around the room to get a sense of where you’d be staying for the foreseeable future. But all of that only killed twenty minutes and you were still stir-crazy. There wasn’t much you could do for Agust at the moment, except allow him to rest without you trying to hold his hand or anything else.
Suddenly, there was a buzzing in your pocket; it was Agust’s phone. You were a bit ashamed at how quickly you reached for it. There was a new text message. It was from a new named contact: Sunshine. The preview of the message said, ‘To Miss Nurse’, making your assumption that the people on the other end would have expected you to keep the phone on you correct. And since it was addressed to you, you didn’t feel too bad about opening the phone again. You swiped open the text and tried not to scroll anywhere higher into their previous chats.
- Sunshine: To Miss Nurse. if you see this, please take good care of our Hyung. And if he gives you any trouble, tell him I said to behave. RM should be almost there. He tends to speed.
There were a couple silly emojis next to it that made you smile. Surely, they can’t be bad people if this is how they communicate. They must be close friends. Though, you still wondered how they had gotten the director to do all this. Maybe there was someone else doing all of this? You shook your head and typed a quick message back, so not to have them worry.
- I’ll take good care of him. That’s my job.
You really hoped Agust didn’t mind you messing with his phone. Though, you figured it was better to ask for forgiveness than permission in this scenario. There was no response which made you think that it was all he needed at the time. Gazing at the clock on the phone, you had wasted thirty minutes in the room so far. You thought of your backpack in the locker room a few floors down and some of your things at your stations that you could pass the time with. Since Agust was secure here, you thought it may be a good idea to gather some things to help you waste time until this RM shows up. It was unlikely that Agust was going to wake up yet, and you could be fast so he wouldn’t be alone for long. You slipped the phone back into your pocket and rose from the chair, heading for the door. You cast one more look at the still figure in the bed before dimming the lights and pulled the door shut behind you.
You set off at a brisk pace for the elevator and took it down a few levels to where the staff locker room was kept. You raced in, pulled your bag from your locker, and left before anyone noticed you. You were sure since the director had put the whole hospital on alert that everyone was making rounds to keep eyes everywhere. You hoped grabbing your stuff from your station was just as easy; you weren’t sure about how to explain why you had suddenly deserted your station. Amber wasn’t there but you could hear her and Jax talking loudly from a back room. You wanted to talk to your best friend, to help ease some nerves and have her tell you exactly what you needed to hear. But you didn’t want to wait around or take her away from her new workload. You pulled open the drawer where you kept some personal items, incase of slower work days, and shoved them into your bag. You froze when your fingers hit against something that you knew, instantly, should not be in your bag. Peering into the opening, your eyes locked onto a metallic, black, studded object that you had seen earlier that morning.
The gun Agust had placed in your hand.
How did that get in there? You didn’t remember grabbing it unless it had happened in the chaos of the EMTs and police rushing to assess the situation. Well, if you weren’t already anxious, this just made it worse. Let’s just add this to the ever-growing list of stupid things I’ve done today, you berated yourself. You brought a potentially loaded gun into a hospital. You needed to get back up to the room and get this out of your possession. Maybe when this RM got there, he could take it from you. You pulled the bag shut and slugged it over your shoulder, trying hard not to think about it.
You moved away from the desk and down the hall towards the elevator. But as you stepped into the silent hall with all the doors closed, one was not closed as it had been when you left; the room where Agust had been. And there was someone looking inside. There was a man, tall and stocky, and dressed in a simple navy uniform. He wasn’t a part of the hospital staff and you didn’t think he was there to clean the room with the lights still off. Trying to stay as unnoticed as you could, you took longer strides towards the end. As you passed behind him, you peered beyond him into the pitch blackness of the room to just make out another figure lurking there. He wasn’t dressed in the same way as the man in the door. He was in darker colors that you couldn’t make out and wore what looked like a fedora on his head. What caught your attention as you passed, was the small peek of icy, blue hairs that were just visible on the side. A deep grumble that sounded from the room made your breath catch in your throat, and made you stop in your tracks. It sounded so familiar to the sadistic voice from this morning. The man with the cane had gotten into the hospital?! How, they upped security measures, hadn’t they? Maybe it was your imagination playing with you with all the stress. Not wanting to stick around to figure out if you were right, you tried to get away before they had noticed you.
But, sadly, you weren’t that lucky.
“Excuse me, nurse. Perhaps you can help me.”
You felt your whole body stiffen as the voice was all to clearly the one that had stalked you from beyond the counter. The voice that dripped with crazed malice and venom as he called out for Agust, that had taunted and tried to lure him out. The voice that you were sure would haunt your dreams. It was the man with the cane, though he didn’t have it now. As you turned, he looked nothing like the half-crazed man yelling and destroying things around him. He looked almost normal, save for the fake smile he had plastered across his lips. He was no longer dressed in the light blue suit and fur coat you had caught a glimpse behind the counter, but in a simple dark blazer and trousers. The man who lingered in the doorway had come to stand next to him as they walked up to you, dressed in a police uniform. His uniform cap was pulled low to obscure his face, though you could see bruising and swelling through the shadows. Both of them gave a slight bow to you.
“Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Inspector Taop, this is officer Chen. We are here following up on a patient that was supposed to be brought here. I’ve been looking everywhere, but no one has an answer for me whether he is here or not. And I haven’t seen a single worker on this floor.”
He had never seen you at the scene so you knew he didn’t recognize you, or could see that you didn’t believe anything that was coming out of his mouth. That would help you, you decided. You took a deep breath and tried to hide the fear and nervousness. Just act normal. Try to stall until someone comes around.
“Sorry, officer, we’re a bit understaffed as it is. What can I help you with?”
“I’m looking for a patient that was brought here. Gunshot victim, a young man, brought in this morning?”
“Can you be a bit more specific? We are a hospital. Do you know how many young men we have come in here with some kind of bullet wound? I had six this month.”
You saw the smile slip and irritation rise in those cold eyes. He cleared his throat, trying to hold on to his polite composure. “This one would have come in this morning. There was a shooting downtown. He would have had multiple gunshot wounds. One nurse said he was brought in by ambulance this morning, but then another said that they found no record of him. And the last person I talked to sent me here. Please, this is very important.”
“Can I see your badge, sir?” He looked completely off guard by the question. You, also, seemed confused. It had just jumped out of your mouth before you realized it. But it seemed like the right thing to ask. You continued, “There’s been a threat made to the hospital, you see, and I need to make sure that everything is in order. I would get in trouble if I gave such information about any patient to an imposter.”
You could see the wheels in his head turning. But you didn’t expect him to nod his head, understandingly, and reach into his pocket to hand you a leather, bifold wallet. Was this psycho really a police officer? How could someone so vile be in law enforcement? You thought back to what little memories of your father that you had lingering in the back of your mind and couldn’t begin to imagine him doing anything like what this man had done, no matter how bad of a criminal they were. Before you could think, your body seemed to act on it’s own again and opened the wallet and your eyes started to dance across the metal shield. You weren’t entirely sure what you were looking for at first. Until your eyes caught it and something clicked in your mind. It was a fake, but an exceptionally good fake. Anyone else would have just taken it at face value but something in your mind flashed and screamed that this was a fake like the smile still on the ‘inspector’s’ face. In the reaches of your memory, you remembered running your fingers over your father’s badge, memorizing every detail. And you still did that when you were stressed out; you still had his badge and it was currently in the front pocket of your bag. And you seemed to recall your father teaching you how to identify a real badge from others.
A sudden anger took hold of you that seemed to spur on some brave part of you. You closed the wallet and handed it back to him, keeping your face neutral to hide that you were even more sure of his act. Maybe it was the dishonor to officers like your father, or that he was trying to get to the boy you had risked a lot to save. And your hard work was not going to waste. “I’m sorry officer. But like I said, we have a few patients that could fit your description. None on this floor at all. And if the other nurses said they have no record of him, I’m not sure what I can do for you. Besides that, if we did have a patient come in with multiple gunshot wounds, I imagine that they’d need extensive surgery and wouldn’t be conscious to answer any questions you could have. And with no guardian to act in their place until they are awake to consent to a line of questioning about a traumatic experience, I can’t let you go any further. You should know that, Officer.”
The smile was wiped from the man’s face. The uniformed man’s eyes got wide at your declaration and they shifted towards his leader in panic. Taop, or whatever his real name was, straightened up and took a step towards you. He towered over you and the energy radiating from him would have intimidated you into submission. Just like with your ex. But you needed to protect Agust. In any case, all you needed to do was scream and someone would be alerted. There wasn’t much this asshole could accomplish without being found out. But he continued to advance until he backed you up against the wall. Even still, you never broke eye contact with him.
“I don’t think you understand the situation of this, little girl,” he said, rage tittering on the edge of his voice. “There are some really dangerous people and it would be a shame if you got caught in the crossfires. It’s in your best interest to answer my questions and tell me what I need to know.”
“Then bring a warrant,” you challenged.
His hand collided with the wall next to your head, making you jump. His face was so close to yours now, and there was the crazed man you remembered from this morning. Your heart was in your ears. He, suddenly, took a deep inhale then another before tilting his head to the side. “What a brave little girl. Tell me, where were you this morning? Something tells me you may be exactly who I need to talk to.”
“Hey, back off her!”
Both you and the man turned to look down the hall towards the elevator towards the source of the deep voice that had interrupted the line of questioning. The doors of the elevator were opened and from them stepped a young man with platinum white hair. His eyes were haunting and strong, like a dragon woken from his peace. He was exceptionally tall, taking long strides towards the scene. You couldn’t help but let your eyes take in the man who was coming to your rescue. Dressed in a dark trouser and a white buttoned up shirt gave him a classic handsomeness, and a long black coat with a hood drawn up that accentuated his height. As he approached, he slid the hood down and swiped his hand up to push the stray white hairs from his face. If you weren’t terrified, you would have appreciated how handsome he was. You glanced back at the man caging you; his body tensed as the newcomer walked up but his face never showed.
He let out a sigh and a small smile reappeared, but it was not the same he had tried to charm you with. It was one of arrogance. “Ah, Mr. Kim,” the inspector said, not moving from his position, “how nice of you to drop in.”
“You’ve got some nerve,” the handsome newcomer said, his tone low and smooth.
“What for? Being too formal? Do you not like me using your surname? I’m not sure which name you prefer now; you change names so often, it’s hard to keep up after all this time.”
“You’re one to talk. What name are you going by now, officer? Here to investigate a fraud? Or are you here to put yourself into more trouble?”
“Such a negative attitude. Officer Chen and I are here on official business,” the detective flashed his badge at the so named Mr. Kim. “And this nice young lady was willing to help me out with some information. Isn’t that right, Little Girl?”
“It sure doesn’t look that way coming from the elevator. I think you need to take a step back,” Mr. Kim ordered with a strong but suggestive tone that made you question what kind of power someone as young looking as him could possess.
The fake detective made no sign that he was planning on heeding the newcomer’s words to move from your personal space. His eyes shifted from Mr. Kim back to you. His stare bore into you sharper than claws and made your breath catch. You weren’t sure if he was trying to scare you into agreeing with him or just threaten you. But Mr. Kim was having none of that; he gave the older man’s shoulder a hard shove and wedged himself in the space between you to keep you away from the other man. Mr. Kim reached a hand behind him and placed it on your arm, to keep you secure behind him and to give you some reassurance that he was not going to hurt you. You couldn’t help yourself, as you fisted your hands into the back of his coat and peered around his massive frame.
“You always have to play savior, don’t you Rapmon?” The way he had said the name made it seem like he was trying to strike a nerve in Mr. Kim. But the other man gave no sign that he was bothered. “You make it seem like I was doing something unseemly to her. You and your broken boy scouts always turn things difficult. Speaking of, where are the others? Maybe they could answer some questions for me. There’s one in particular I’m interested in seeing. I’m checking up on a victim from a shooting downtown. Just making sure he’s doing alright.”
“You’re really committed to this bit, aren’t you Choi? Oh, sorry- what name are you going by today? It’s so hard to keep track, isn’t that what you said?” Mr. Kim tilted his head to the side, eyes twinkling with a mischievous shine.
“What a nuisance you are. I’m just trying to get information to make sure things go well. Though come to think of it, your boys may not know much. Word was that the victim was all alone. Left all by themselves, bleeding and hurt in such a dangerous situation. What kind of friends would let someone knowingly go into that situation alone? Now, I’d really like to finish my conversation with the little lady, Rapmon.” When Choi, as you figured his name actually was, took a step towards you, Mr. Kim moved the both of you to keep you behind him and further away from the other. “Well, since you seem hellbent on keeping me from doing something so simple, I could always ask you. Though to be honest, your being here may have answered my questions.”
“My being here answers nothing,” Mr. Kim challenged. “Unlike you, I am here to do good for the community. And it’s a good thing I came by when I did. You’re already on thin ice after all the trouble you’ve caused. Imagine what would happen if you caused any problems while on Hallowed Ground. If you were to hurt anyone staying or working here, you would have more than my family looking for you. The rest of the Families would be looking to teach you a lesson. Imagine what most of them will think when they hear about the deceit you pulled this morning. After what I witnessed, you can be sure I’ll have eyes monitoring this place. You will not go against the Accords.”
“Don’t you lecture me about the Accords, you psycho. I’ve been around just as long as they have and lived them. I taught them to you.”
“And yet, you only follow them when they suit you. Just like your leader and his before him. But things are different now. They are gone, and your hold is slipping. I have enough pull now to ensure Accords are followed. And if you want to make a further spectacle of yourself, I’ll gladly show you I’m not that kid anymore that you ordered around. You saw what my boys can do when pushed. Try me.”
Choi started to laugh, eyes shining in disbelief at the younger bossing him around. As you peered around Mr. Kim’s frame, you saw him go to say something to officer Chen, but couldn’t form the word. He raised his hand towards the white-haired man, but let it drop with a growl. Whatever look was set upon the elder made him rethink his next move. He settled for raising his hands in a surrender and jerking his head towards his companion to tell him they were leaving. It surprised you that he was giving up so easily after how he had acted towards you. You weren’t sure what Mr. Kim meant by accords and families, but it was more than obvious that it meant something to them. Glancing up at your protector, his face remained locked in the same stern and serious mask he had when he had appeared. His eyes, perfectly lined and accentuated with makeup that only made him more intriguing, followed the pair as they turned down the hall.
But before they could get too far, Choi stopped. He turned enough to gaze at the two of you over his shoulder, the dark and manic gleam from that morning flashing like a warning sign. He chuckled before his teasing and taunting voice that had called out to Agust filled the hall like glass shattering. “Look at how far our little maniac has come. Really living up to the title of Mad Leader, aren’t you? He thinks he’s so big and strong that he can just order me around and act like a knight in shining armor to the weak. The Mad Leader’s trying so hard to put up a front, to hide who he is, to hide the other side of the looking glass. But lest he forget, I know things he wouldn’t want others to know. And I seem to recall,” Choi turned fully around and took a full stride back towards Mr. Kim, “you had an issue with places like this. You don’t enjoy being here. Are you falling down the rabbit hole? You even have an Alice this time it would seem. So tell me, Mad Leader, are the walls closing in on you yet? Are you feeling anxious?”
You could feel Mr. Kim tense up at the name ‘Mad Leader’ each time Choi said it. He took a deep breath, trying to ground himself. He gave you a polite push away from him before fixing Choi with a glare that made officer Chen startle. You could almost feel the air change as he stepped up to be nose to nose with the thug.
“Since you can’t seem to remember my name, asshole, let me spell it out for you. It’s RM, R to the M. And I’m a motherfucking monster. Keep pushing me. I dare you. You hurt one of my boys. You better pray that he makes it out of all this ok. Or you’ll see just how ‘mad’ I can get.”
Chen seemed to realize that something bad was building as he took hold of his superior and pulled him away from RM, newly identified. Choi kept the taunting smile spread across his lips as he allowed Chen to lead him away. Before he got too far, he looked over at you and gave a nod, “We’ll be in touch, Little Girl.” And then he disappeared from the floor, leaving you in the presence of RM. You can’t say you had expected this person to belong to the voice on the other end of the phone, but it would seem like that was the theme of the day. The tall man took a few deep breaths and ran his hand through his white hair before turning back to you. The serious mask he had worn had slipped away and was more approachable. He straightened his clothes before returning to your side.
“I’m sorry you had to see that,” he said, “But he shouldn’t be back. He talks a good game but he knows when he’s out done. Did he hurt you?”
You shook your head. “I can’t believe he got in. The hospital is on lock down.”
“Well, he’s been around a while. He has his ways. Now that he’s gone, I was hoping you could help me. I’m looking for a nurse called Y/N.” You locked eyes with him and gave him a nod of affirmation. He gave you a smile, showing off a pair of dimples in his cheeks that made him much more innocent and sweeter than the man who had gone nose to nose with the monstrous thug. “That’s a coincidence. Nice to meet you. Can you show me where to go?”
“Prove that you’re who you say you are,” you said, taking a step away from him. Despite that you were sure he was the one you had talked to, it seemed like nothing was safe. He looked at you for a moment, before coming to a conclusion. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a cell phone before letting his finger glide across the screen. A moment later, Agust phone sounded off in your pocket. He glanced over at you with a bemused look as you pulled the phone out and saw the screen lit up with a notification.
- God of Destruction: It’s me.
“Sorry,” you said, feeling embarrassed by your sudden suspicion, “but after that guy flashed a fake police badge at me, I just wanted to be sure. Thank you for coming and for helping me. Are you Agust’s brother or a friend?”
RM’s eyes narrowed when he heard you say Agust and gave you a strange look. His eyes seemed to dance about you, as if he was trying to figure something out. But as quickly as it appeared, the look disappeared and he smiled again. “We usually call him Suga. Only people who don’t like him call him Agust. I don’t think he’d want you calling him that. Can we go see him now? We’ve been worried about him.” You nodded and motioned him to follow you back to the elevator. As you waited for the doors to reopen, he leaned over and whispered, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell Hyung you had his phone.”
“What? Does he have some embarrassing things on here,” you joked.
“Maybe,” came the reply and heard RM chuckle as he allowed you to step into the elevator.
You hit the button for the floor that they moved Agu- Suga to, the doors slid shut, and the lift jolted to a start. As the sound of the mechanisms filled the space, you caught a glimpse of the tall man flinch. It seemed odd, seeing as he had just faced off against the most frightening person you had ever seen. The taunting words he had said to RM before leaving came to mind, about not liking it in a hospital. It wasn’t uncommon for people to have bad experiences related to hospitals, so you tried to brush it off. Once you had made it to the secure floor, you led him down the hall. You explained that the floor was only accessible to a few people and how they had followed the directions as specified to the director. The entire time, RM listened very intently, eyes never leaving you. He was the picture of professionalism and sincerity. You swiped the two of you into the ward, and he held the door open for you as you led him down the hall to the room. As you neared the room, you wondered if you were going to survive the present of two very handsome men. Hopefully, the rest of his friends that you heard over the phone were somewhat average.
As you both entered the room, RM came to a stop in the threshold of the door, his eyes staring at the bed. You could see the worry and panic that you had heard over the phone slip across his face. You reached out and touched his arm. He looked at you with an almost innocent gaze, like he was questioning if it was alright to get closer. You gave him a nod and he was beside his friend in a flash. He looked as if he was debating to reach out to Suga, as if he were made of glass, but settled for taking hold of his hand. RM let out a breath and looked relieved to have finally seen his friend. From your place at the edge of the room, you could see how much one meant to the other and all worries about them being as bad as Choi disappeared.
“Is he going to be ok? What did they do to him,” RM asked, never taking his eyes off his companion.
“Dr. Na took good care of him,” you said, reaching for the file at the end of the bed. “He was shot twice, once in the shoulder and on his left side. The gunshot wound on his side appeared to be at close range and the bullet went through. Thankfully, there wasn’t much damage done. The bullet was lodged in his shoulder, but Dr. Na was able to remove it and mend up some of the damage. We’ll know more when he wakes up, but he should have full range of motion after some rest. He, also, has some bruised ribs and a slight concussion. Along with bruising and defensive wounds pretty much everywhere. He, also, lost a lot of blood. He’s in the middle of a transfusion now. But he is responding well to everything and we believe he should be waking up soon. With enough care, patience, and support, he should make a full recovery in no time. Which is amazing; when I found him, I was worried with how much blood he had lost that he may have had a harder road to recovery.”
RM flicked his eyes over to you. “You found him?”
“They must not have told you. I was on my way to work when I heard the gunshots. I was the first to find him and get him to safety.”
RM looked like he wanted to ask more questions, when a soft groan came from the bed and drew the attention. Suga took in a deep breath and his body shifted as if fighting to wake and identify the voices. After a tense moment, his body relaxed and his eyes opened slightly. From the edge of the bed, you could see the glazed and shiny effects of the medication still trying to hold him in the state of unconsciousness, and realized he may not fully be aware of what is happening. But you were sure the presence of RM had drawn him out enough to give them a sign that he was okay. RM called out to his hyung softly, drawing Suga’s attention as he gazed about the room.
“Hyung, hey, can you hear me?”
Suga’s eyes fully landed on RM. It seemed as if he was fighting his way to recognition before he gave a small, drugged smile back. “Joon,” his voice sounded exhausted and stained.
RM laughed. “Yeah, Hyung, it’s me. You’re gonna be okay. You’re safe.”
“Joonie, I think I’m dead. I saw an angel.”
The whitehaired man reached out and ran his fingers, gently, through his friend’s hair. “No, Hyung, you’re only tired. That bastard messed you up but you’re gonna be alright now. Why don’t you go back to sleep? The boys and I will be here when you wake up.”
“Oh,” Suga said, almost sounding disappointed as the drugs started to drag him back to oblivion, “too bad. It was a pretty angel. Prettier than Jiminie and Hyungie combined. But don’t tell them I said that.” And just as fast as he woke, Suga went silent and still again.

If the Spit Hits the Fan (Glee) Pt XVIII
This is the last part of this. Of a story that I was pretty certain I wouldn’t finish and just posted the bit I had in my scraps and snippets tag for a lark. You read that, and you liked it, and your response made me want to try and finish it. And so here we are, ~29k finished fic.
Thank you for the support.
Follows pt I, pt II, pt III, pt IV, pt V, pt VI, pt VII, pt VIII, pt IX, pt X, pt XI, pt XII, pt XIII, pt XIV, pt XV, pt XVI and pt XVII.
New York is big and loud and filthy and expensive.
Kurt's first apartment had been an absolute rathole. He'd shared it with four others, and his “room” had been a repurposed coatroom. There had been just enough place for a bed and a tiny table instead of a desk. He'd only brought the most necessary in way of clothing, and with the exception of two shirts hanging from a nail in the wall he'd been forced to keep everything in a suitcase under the bed.
He'd moved out after a month, tired of never being able to keep food in the kitchen, weary of the nicks surrounding the lock on his door – he'd replaced the old one day 1, but even the best of locks only went so far – and fed up with having to carry all his valuables with him at all times.
Luckily the Warbler network had activated and Trent's older brother had offered up his guest room (and if that wasn't a sign of wealth, a student in New York with a guest room, then Kurt didn't know what was) for the rest of the year provided Kurt find someplace else to spend the night on those occasions it was needed. During the fall it'd mostly been solved by Sebastian coming to visit and the two sharing a cheap hotel room, and during the fall by Kurt spending the night at Sebastian's apartment. It had been tempting to move in with Sebastian then, but Kurt had resisted and they both agreed they'd become stronger for it.
Living together had been tough, especially since Sebastian had a lot more money available than Kurt. They'd managed to find a balance though and looking back Kurt feels proud of the work they'd put in to make it work. Three years (and counting) together and these days Kurt is willing to proclaim that Sebastian is as much of a perfect boyfriend as it's possible to be.
Yes, New York is still loud and filthy and big, but it's also full of light and laughter and love. Kurt's learned to find his way around both city and school, and he's on track for graduation with excellent prospects. Life is good.
Of course, that kind of means he's overdue for a cold shower and unfortunately it comes as cold and icy as is possible.
“Blaine. I guess I should have known you'd turn up.”
Like a bad penny, Kurt thinks. His ex-boyfriend just smiles wider at the words, clearly not picking up on the undertones.
“Yes! I'll always come back to you, Kurt. We're meant to be – you're my soulmate.”
Kurt shudders. All these years, and he still haven't gotten over his negative reaction to those words.
“Yeah, I'm pretty sure you and I have different interpretations of what those things mean. Personally I can't see how someone who walked out of my life without a word years ago could be considered my 'soulmate', but that's me.”
“That's not fair! I never wanted to leave you, but my parents made me.”
Blaine does this thing with his face that resembles what Kurt remembers of Blaine's “I've apologized, sort of, and you should forgive me now” expression and Kurt thinks that if Blaine could see himself he'd never ever do it again. It's not pretty. It kind of looks like he's about to shit his pants, frankly.
“Right. Your parents. And why, exactly, were they so determined to get you out of Lima without saying goodbye?”
Blaine flinches, and Kurt can see the realization hit him. Strange. It's as if he never even thought about the possibility that Kurt would know about the lies Blaine had told. Emotions run across Blaine's eyes and face, one after the other, and Kurt just waits without even trying to figure out what's going through his ex's mind. He's beyond caring.
“Kurt, I... I, I have a confession to make. When I got home that last night, my parents, they were waiting up for me. They made assumptions, and I, I let them.”
Blaine's face twists, and a couple of tears start falling. Kurt would be touched, really he would, except he happens to know that Blaine can cry on command.
“I know I shouldn't have, I know it was wrong, I was just so afraid! I thought they'd throw me out, and so I kept quiet and did what they wanted. I'm so sorry I did that to you.
“I love you, Kurt!”
The thing is, he can remember when those words from Blaine's lips would make him melt. That's no longer true. Now he listens to them like he would a performance, and he finds them lacking. He should have gone for soft instead of intense, a hint of tears maybe, not volume and anger.
This isn't school though, even though it very much is a performance, nor is it worth critiquing. It's not worth anything, really. Kurt sighs a little, just wanting all of it to be over and Blaine to be gone.
“Here's the thing. I understand, I guess. In your shoes I would have been worried to tell my dad the truth too. I think just about every teenager out there would be at least a little afraid to tell their parents they got drunk and stupid.
“But I also think that just about every teenager out there knows that there's some kind of middle-ground between 'I got drunk and tried to rape my boyfriend' and 'my boyfriend drugged me and tried to rape me'. Except apparently you didn't. You just went with what would get you of the hook the fastest and easiest.”
“Hey! That's not fair!”
“Oh, it isn't? You doing what you did is okay, but me calling it what it was is unfair? Now, why am I not the least bit surprised that that's how you feel?
“You know, at first I didn't understand how you could do it. How you could say you loved me and then not just leave me, but let your parents believe that I would do something like that to you. Well, that you could let anyone think I'd do that to anyone.
“But as I said, I understand why you did it.”
A triumphant look flash up in Blaine's eyes. Oh, he's doing a pretty good job at hiding it – much better than he would have been able to as a teenager – but Kurt knows him, and he's looking for it.
“You threw me under the bus because you knew it'd be an easy out. You could have told your parents something else, anything else, but you chose the worst possible lie – one you had to have known would get me in trouble. You did it because it was easy, and it would get you of the hook – maybe even get you some sympathy instead of the punishment you deserved – and you did it because that was all you cared about. You.
“I always knew you were a bit self-involved, but I told myself it was just part of you being a performer. A healthy ego's pretty much a must, and I used to think that was it. Except it turned out you were so focused on you, and your needs and wants, that nothing else mattered. Certainly not me.
“It took me a while to accept, but I know now that regardless of what you said you didn't love me. Not really. You might have thought you did, but Blaine? Love means that the other person's just as important to you as you yourself are. And I never was that to you.”
He ignores Blaine's protests and just continues, projecting his voice to be heard over the barely restrained excuses and lies.
“The truth is that your lack of empathy and care for other people borders on Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and quite frankly I am better off for not having you remain in my life. Just don't expect me to thank you for it though.
“No one else will either. Do you realize how many people you worried with your little disappearing act? There was quite a few at Dalton who were convinced that your parents had shipped you off to conversion camp. They were counting down until your 18th birthday and from what I heard there was even the beginning of a fund to pay your way at Dalton if you escaped and were disowned.”
There's a triumphant gleam in Blaine's eyes. Clearly he's pleased about his friends being so worried about him and so ready to help him out. Kurt just wants to stomp that light out. Violently.
“Then when you didn't resurface after your birthday a few started worrying that your parents had you in a mental hospital, and there was talk of trying to stage some kind of rescue. That only lasted so long, of course.
“You see, somehow it's hard to convince anyone that their friend is practically jailed and in need of a rescue when they're seen out and about clubbing in L.A.. After all, these days everyone carries a phone, so the idea that you were unable to contact someone – anyone – and ask for help went up in flames pretty quick after that.”
Thad had been so angry that he'd made sure every single Dalton student that had ever know Blaine found out, and even the boy's most die-hard supporters had given up then and there.
They'd all understood not wanting to getting into a conflict with your family, especially when said family usually paid for college and any possible trust funds tended to be under the family's control for a while longer. What they hadn't understood was Blaine's total lack of communication. Email telling them that Blaine was okay but under orders not to contact anyone from Ohio would have gone a long way to ease worries, and was, they felt, the very least he owed them.
“Funny thing about you showing up here now? I can't help but remember that you turned 21 a couple of weeks ago. You didn't happen to get access to a trust fund then did you? Not that I actually care, but there are some old bets to settle.”
There wasn't, not really, but enough Warbler had warned Kurt about this very scenario with an added “I bet he shows up afterwards, thinking you'll take him back” for it to not quite be a lie.
Blaine splutters before launching into a long row of “explanations”, one more shitty than the other. It's obvious that he didn't expect Kurt to be angry with him, but instead to be welcomed with open arms. It's even sounding as if Blaine expected Kurt to take him back and just let him slide back into his life as if nothing had happened. Kurt isn't quite sure if Blaine intended for him to move in with Kurt and start a new life in New York, or if the idea was for Kurt to give up everything and follow Blaine back to L.A., but both options are equally ridiculous.
“Stop. Just, stop. I told you, I don't care. If you want to get in touch with any of your old friends from Dalton and McKinley and explain all of it to them, do so. But you don't need to explain anything to me. I don't want to hear it. Your window for explaining yourself to me closed years ago. It closed after you let your parents walk into a police station ready to have me charged with rape.
“Nothing you can say will ever make that okay. Nothing you say can make me forgive you.”
Kurt stops himself and takes a deep breath. There's so much he could say, so many accusations that could be made, so much hatred to be poured out.
Blaine's actions had gotten Kurt into trouble, and could have landed him in jails. They'd been what had stopped Burt Hummel from running from reelection after being asked – while nothing had come from the Andersons' accusations there had still been enough people who had known about it for it to leak and ruin a political career. After all, who cared if it was true when it made for a good weapon? And “local congressman buries son's rape charge” made for a great weapon.
Kurt had been willing to risk it, but his dad hadn't wanted to. Had it leaked the only way to prove Kurt's innocence would have been to make the video of Blaine trying to assault Kurt public. No good parent does that to their kid had been Burt's position, and Kurt had been grateful.
That didn't mean he wasn't aware of exactly how much that had cost not just his dad but the whole state. The man who'd replaced his dad had been the kind of bigot that wasn't good for anyone, not even his followers.
Kurt still blames Blaine for that, and even if he'd been insane enough to consider forgiving everything else he's never forgiving that. The chance of making Blaine understand any of that is minuscule though. The chance of him caring is even less.
There is, simply put, no point in spending even another second on trying to get through to him.
“You're not welcome here. Please leave. Goodbye Blaine.”
Once the door is closed and locked behind Blaine Kurt finally relaxes. He's closing the door on Blaine in more than one way, finally able to truly do that – because regardless of what he's hoped he's always known that one day his former boyfriend would pop up again.
“If he comes back you're filing for a restraining order.”
“He won't come back, Sebastian.”
“You don't know that. He did today, didn't he?”
It's obvious that Sebastian is coming from a place of care and worry, and Kurt feels himself soften. Blaine hasn't just been the monster under Kurt's bed during all of these years.
“Yes, he did, and no, I guess I can't really know. But honey, I really don't think he will. Blaine was reminded today that actions have consequences, and he found out I have the means to ensure said consequences. Coming after me and trying to change my mind is more work than he's ever shown himself willing to put in.
“After all, he's not the kind to stick around when the spit hits the fan.”
Luckily Sebastian is.

So Covert, I Hardly Knew Him
Part I | Part II | Part IV
Part III: Growth
Locked in a laboratory bunker a few hundred feet below ground was not an ideal location for Leon to run into Ada, but he should have expected it. She tended to appear at the worst possible time and throw a wrench into his plans. Sometimes a bomb. “What are you doing here?”
Ada lowered her gun and inspected her fingernails as if checking for any chips in the bright red polish. “What? I can’t drop in to see an old friend?”
The thick honey of her voice sent a shiver down Leon’s spine. He tightened his grip. “A stop on your whirlwind Siberian vacation?”
Ada’s smile turned toxic. “Something like that,” she said, her elbow cocked on her hip and gun held limply in midair. As if Leon were no threat to her. She was probably right. But the low groan of the undead should have worried her.
“So, a job then.” Typical. “How the hell did you even get in here?”
“Back door.”
Leon groaned. Of course, there was an easier way in. He lowered his gun, checked his clip, and reloaded while he had a few seconds of respite. He strained to hear anything in the dark, attention never leaving the dangerous woman in front of him, but the low of zombies were still distant, for now.
Ada took a step forward. Glass crunched. Leon raised the Samurai Edge. She stopped; the corner of her lip quirked at his immediate reaction.
“That’s not yours,” Ada said. She eyed the gun curiously.
“Bit of a mix-up.”
“Hmmm...” Though Ada clearly didn’t believe him if her perfectly manicured raised eyebrow was anything to go by. “I need your help.”
“Doubtful. Try again.”
Ada smiled. “It’s a new strain,” she said, far too relaxed for a person held at gunpoint. “A modification of-”
“- the T-Veronica,” Leon finished. “I know. I did my homework.”
“So you know the virus can lay dormant for years before activation,” Ada said with a casual wave of the hand holding her gun. “And there’s no cure. Yet.”
Leon tensed because no, he hadn’t known that. That was new. That was dangerous. That meant - “anyone could be a carrier,” he said slowly. Then, the implications hit him full force. “They’d never know.”
“Give the boy a prize,” Ada added.
Leon wanted to wipe that smug smirk off her face. People’s lives were at stake. He knew there was a leak in the White House. That’s why his mission was unofficial - off the record. The only person who knew he was here was Hunnigan and the privately contracted pilot that had dropped him in the Siberian wilderness. He needed proof of American involvement in the bioterrorism weapons being created before he went directly to the President. But this was worse; a sleeper virus. This was deeper than he’d initially thought; premeditated. Years of planning.
“I need to get a sample to Dr. Chambers,” Leon said. He had never met her, but he knew of her work.
Dr. Rebecca Chambers was one of the survivors of the Arklay Mountains incident, the one that kicked off everything. And if Chris Redfield trusted her, that was good enough for Leon. She’d dedicated her life to the fight against bioterrorism like them, except she wasn’t throwing herself in front of rampaging BOWs. A choice that had proved hazardous to Leon’s health.
“See? An alliance would be mutually beneficial.”
Leon snorted. “I wouldn’t say that.”
Ada stepped closer, a seductive smile on her lips. Her heels echoed ominously off the concrete walls. Her hand curled behind Leon’s neck, fingertips teasing the short hairs, and pulled him down to her level. “Not even for old times’ sake?”
Her breath was hot against Leon’s cheek, her lips a soft glossy pink. She made contact with cool skin, but it wasn’t with his lips.
A split second before she connected, Leon slipped his finger between their mouths and forced her to kiss his grimy index finger. He smirked. “Ah ah ah,” he tutted. “You didn’t ask.”
Ada’s eyes narrowed as he pulled away, and her hand slipped uselessly from its inviting position. Her intended prey had escaped.
“I’m not that same naive rookie looking for approval. I’m a big boy now. You wanna play? I have my own rules.”
Ada scoffed. “Well, look who grew a pair.”
Leon turned his back on her and raised the Samurai Edge. Not the most brilliant idea, but he knew she wouldn’t shoot him in the back as long as she still needed him. “We need to get into the generator room. On me.”
“Really?” Ada reloaded her Blacktail and fell into step behind him. The echoing click of her heels was irritating. “And here I thought you didn’t want to help me.”
“I don’t,” Leon agreed. He pressed his side to the wall beside the door. “But it’s better to keep an eye on you. Make sure you don’t get into anything you shouldn’t.”
Ada’s laugh was short and humourless. “Fine. I’ll let you babysit. I do like the view.” Ada took her position, gun at the ready for anything that came through the door.
Cold storage had juice. Low power, but that was a good sign. Meant the big nasties were likely still snoozing, which made Leon’s job all that much easier. He pulled the nameplate out of his back pocket and pried the manual override panel off to find a nest of wires and blinking lights.
“You gotta be kidding me,” Leon grumbled.
“Problem?” Ada teased.
Leon gestured as if to say ‘go ahead’ and stepped back. He took guard, eyes surveying the dark while Ada fiddled. He could do it, sure, but he knew full well she was faster.
A shadow lumbered into his flashlight beam and out of the pitch-black as he swept the hall. Leon shot the zombie in the head twice. Then the one staggering right behind it.
“Any second would be great.”
Ada clucked her tongue. “We could always switch back.”
Glass crunched to Leon’s right. He spun in time to catch the zombie that lurched at him, unsheathed his knife, and drove it into the undead bastard’s chest, forcing the zombie back. Then he shot it in the head twice.
“Got it.” The door hissed as it slid open a crack. “What would you do without me?”
Leon grabbed the edge and hauled it open enough for Ada to slip in. He followed quickly and closed the door as far as he could until there was less than an inch of space left to wedge his fingers in to open it again.
The room hummed with low energy. A few lights blinked in the dark. Leon crept further into the room while Ada watched the door. His breath fogged in the air. Cryogenic storage tubes lined the room, six rows of twelve. Most appeared to be unfinished projects in various forms of horrific mutation until Leon found the last row.
“Jesus Christ,” Leon breathed. Behind him, he heard Ada’s sharp intake of air. Six Tyrants, like the one he’d fought his first day on the force in Racoon City, stood in identical storage tubes waiting for activation. He hadn’t a hope of defeating them himself with the firepower he had.
“Doesn’t this bring back memories,” Ada said, and Leon hated to agree. That many Tyrants would take massive firepower. He should have planned on it.
“Generator’s right through there,” Leon said and motioned to the door behind the final row of specimens. “Ladies first.”
“Always the gentleman,” Ada said. Leon rolled his eyes and followed the retreating click of her heels.

Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA 4) Review
From the outset it is plain to see that Liberty City is unrecognisable from the one you saw in Grand Theft Auto 3 back in the year 2001 - unrecognisable in good ways only. Firstly as you would expect the level of realism is far greater than any city in the Grand Theft Auto series yet, and Liberty City is now arguably the most realistic game environment ever created - it matches the likes of Assassins Creed and Metal Gear Solid 4, if not surpasses them, in terms of game world realism.
The citizens of Liberty City all appear to have a unique personality as you watch them go about their daily business, apparently unaware of the large numbers of criminals and gangs that walk amongst them, until they're caught in the wrong place at the wrong time of course.
You will arrive in Liberty City on a small boat, in the form of eastern european Niko Bellic, an illegal immigrant who has made his way to Liberty City in his efforts to find his fortune - although he did not intend to find it by following the paths that will soon be placed infront of him. His cousin Roman has worked his way into some potentially life threatening gambling debts and it's you who has to help him find a way out of them.
As with all GTA titles before it, Grand Theft Auto IV will see you spending hour upon hour doing small jobs like stealing cars, shooting random pedestrians and escaping the attentions of the cops. However, it offers you so much more than ever before this time around largely thanks to a storyline which gives you unrivalled variety. On many occasions you will find that you do not have to follow orders, such as killing someone, as you could be given the option of letting them escape if they promise to leave the area. Letting people escape is not without it's risks, though, leaving you to weigh up the possible use of that person later in the game against the consequences you may face if your 'employer' finds out you didn't finish the job properly. click for more info GTA 5 Accounts
This becomes something of a trend as the Grand Theft Auto IV storyline unfolds, and it brings various benefits at different points of the game in each individual case which will ensure you want to play the game time and time again to see what direction the game will take you when you make different choices. Befriending a lawyer for example will be a great help if you ever find yourself in trouble with the law.
Most of the missions you encounter during the actual storyline mode don't give you this kind of decision to make at the end - and will simply involve you making deliveries of various kinds, or taking out certain people. Of course nothing is that simple, there will at times be numorous enemies trying to prevent you from completing your tasks, particularly later in the game when some of the missions are based on kidnap plots, and a job interview gone wrong. The police want to have their say on a regular basis too, and it's usually when they aren't written into the mission itself. If you do happen to fail a mission, a new replay mission feature makes light work of giving it another go.
Escaping the police in previous GTA titles was at times ridiculously difficult - this is no longer the case and if anything, it has become a touch too easy and is possibly the only flaw Grand Theft Auto IV has. Your GPS will show you the location of on-foot police in your area as well as those in patrol cars, and will also show a circle around the area they are concentrating on as they hunt for you. Simply find your way out of that area and avoid the cops for around 10 seconds and they will let you slide.
Rockstar have added new abilities to your character, too, such as the ability to scale a fence or wall and shimmy along ledges - when you are able to get a foothold, and perhaps more beneficially the ability to take cover behind nearby vehicles, walls and objects. This proves useful time and time again during the frantic gun fights you will inevitably get involved in. You can also lock your aim-reticle on an enemy and have it stay locked whilst taking cover, so you can wait for the right moment, pop up and take him out in no time.
Using the target lock is good and makes dealing with high numbers of enemies in quick time pretty easy to say the least, but you should master manual aiming too as it's a skill you will need time and time again when the aim-lock is simply too slow, as it centers on the enemies torso - precious seconds wasted when you could really do with some head shots!
When you take a step back from the daily grind, Liberty City offers you so much more besides criminal activities. You can for instance head to a number of comedy clubs where you will come across some big name acts, watch TV, listen to the radio or head to one of the TW@ internet cafes and browse the in-game internet - a genius addition to the game!
The internet within Grand Theft Auto IV is made up of paraody websites of real-life sites you would not usually bump into, and it makes for some seriously funny content and brings a refreshing touch to the game that you would never have imagined. There is even a dating agency website where you can have your profile put up, and arrange to meet women throughout Liberty City for a date - and that's not the only way you can build some kind of social life in Grand Theft Auto IV.
As you progress through the game you will build relationships with many of the people you meet, and they all have unique personalities and will enjoy doing different kinds of things. Your friends will be easier to please than any date - it doesn't get any more realistic than that right? Some dates will enjoy a game of ten pin bowling whilst others will want five-star treatment, posh restaurants, the lot. They even comment on the car you drive, and the way you drive it, and will notice if you happen to wear the same outfit two dates in a row. Women.
The cell phone, another great addition, is almost as essential to you as your guns and ammo! It allows you to keep in touch with your friends, dates and even some of your enemies. You are unlikely to hear the same conversation twice thanks to the brilliant way the cell phone has been implemented into the game. You can call people to discuss work, a leisure activity or to request a favor from them - the conversation will play out as if it were real - you begin to forget that everything you hear has been scripted!
The cell phone also comes in handy if you happen to hear a song you like during the game, but don't know what it's called or who performs it. Instead of hideous intrusive boxes popping up each time a song comes on telling you this information, you can instead just dial a song-recognition line on your cell phone and within seconds you will get a text message back telling you what the song is - which in my opinion sums up the incredible thought and attention to detail that has gone into Grand Theft Auto IV, and there are loads of tiny features like this that you would never have expected to see in this kind of game that come together and make it a truly unmissable game.
So few will want to miss it, which can only mean millions have it, making the multiplayer modes something worth checking out too! For the first time, Liberty City has gone global and now brings together dirty crooks from all over the world in a wide range of multiplayer game modes. Yet again, getting online is made easy thanks to your in-game cell phone. Dial up a number and you're transported to an online version of Liberty City, scattered with all the weapons you will have already come to love by playing through the single player mode.
As a game host you can choose from a variety of settings such as friendly fire, police presence - or lack of it, the type of weapons in the game and the level of traffic scuttering around the city. Upto 15 more players can join you as you cause carnage. You will probably come across some lag issues at times, but everything considered the online modes are again a great addition to the game and will keep you coming back to the game again and again when you've completed the single player game countless times.

Overwatch: Backfire – Chapter IV: Beginning of the End
Previous chapter: Partners in Crime Tumblr, AO3, Wattpad
At the end of the ceremony, Jack was still trying to reach me. He had left a message on my voicemail:
“Ziegler, where the hell are you? I swear to God, if you do anything stup… Lieutenant Wilhelm, congr...”
Right before the ceremony ended, Atlas issued a breaking news report that aired in every holovideo on the face of the Earth, even on the ones in the event hall:
“BREAKING: OVERWATCH EXPOSED
“We just received an anonymous report from a reliable source about Overwatch’s most recent mission in London. This document talks about torture, murder and a lot of other stuff that makes us question: what the hell is going on under their watch?
“Please stay with us as we return at any moment with new information. In the meantime, Overwatch… Commander Morrison, you have some explaining to do.”
And I had to face him the next morning.
May 3, 2069 Overwatch Headquarters, Switzerland
An holovideo inside the HQ was showing a new report from Atlas:
“More on Overwatch, ladies and gentlemen. We’ve been getting reports all night long from trustful sources about corruption inside the organization. UN representatives have been following all this...”
Suddenly, all holovideos were shut down and Jack’s voice takes over the comms.
“This is Commander Morrison. I ask every Overwatch personnel to, please, head to the conference hall where I’ll be holding an official press release about the recent accusations.”
I was still in shock. But why was everyone suddenly trying to bring Overwatch down? That wasn’t my intention, I just wanted justice.
Venice, Italy
Gabriel enters Talon’s conference room, in there were Moira and Akande staring through a window — the window where Antonio had fallen through after being fatally shot by Gabriel one year ago.
— Did you hear the news?
— Good morning for you too, Dr. O’Deorain — he replies as he walks towards the coffee machine.
— Ziegler is such a fool, I can’t believe she gave in that easily. And she questioned me when I suggested we should do that.
— She acts too much out of emotion And, unfortunately — he takes a sip — so do I.
— Talking about emotions — interrupted Akande — we need to introduce you to someone.
As they arrived to what I think I can describe as the medical area of the building, Gabriel sees a woman who appears to be under coma.
— Is that…
— Let me introduce you — said Akande — to Amélie Lacroix.
That was Gérard Lacroix’s wife. Gabriel’s last remaining friend’s wife. She had been missing for over three weeks now.
— What has she been doing here?! — He shouted to Moira.
— Meet… subject #94.
Talon tried murdering Gérard several times, even at the Roman HQ attack, but they’d always fail. This time, they decided to kidnap his wife, Amélie, and use her against him.
— W-What are you gonna do?
— This is where you put your personal wishes aside, Reyes, and focus on what is really important.
— I don’t understand, Moira. Angela has done more than enough to shut Overwatch down, and now even more people are leaking stuff Morrison kept on our most secure servers. What does Gérard have to do with this?
— He has to die — she slowly said.
— It’s part of the plan, Reyes. Just be thankful Morrison was chosen to be the strike commander, otherwise — Akande said as he got closer to Gabriel’s face, pointing at him — it would’ve been you we would be chasing.
— Your skills leading Blackwatch were extraordinary and killing Antonio was… grand. I mean, it was my decision after all.
Gabriel was confused. He remembers pulling the trigger, he remembers killing Antonio. But he never realized why he did it. His anger for Antonio was a strong point for sure, but would that have been enough?
— Our experiments, twenty-four — Moira continued — are reaching explendid levels. I could not be prouder.
— What are you saying?
— I need help to shape Talon as of my will. When I first met Akande, I saw someone I could trust, with the anger, say, fuel it takes. Our experiments back on Blackwatch allowed me to implant one rule inside your brain: kill Antonio no matter what. And, with the help of your grief for Gérard and those killed in Rome, it worked.
— I can’t believe it... I can’t believe you! How could you do this to me, Moira?! WHAT ARE YOU TURNING ME INTO?!
As Gabriel started to get agitated again, his body turned into the shadowy figure again. Moira was going too far.
— Great work, Moira — congratulated Akande. — Let’s wake Amélie up and continue our plan. And finish your job with grim reaper over there.
As Akande walked out of the room, Moira gave a little smirk. “Grim reaper,” that did not sound bad.
She walked to the corner of the room, revealing another bed, but it had some kind of armor or suit on it. As she took the mask off, the shadow figure was pulled into it, like it was being attracted by something. She puts the mask back on. It had a really peculiar shape, kind of resembles a skull with a weird look — like anger… or even remorse?
At the conference hall, me, Lena, Reinhardt, Torbjörn, Jesse and Genji were standing on the stage waiting for Jack to start his speech — there was still no sign of Gabriel and Moira, he had given up contacting them both.
Jack goes up the stage and got ready to speak. The seats were full, every single person who worked at the Swiss HQ was there.
— Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Commander Jack Morrison. To my right, the strike team which was able to stop the Null Sector a few days ago: Reinhardt Wilhelm, Torbjörn Lindholm, Lena Oxton and… Angela Ziegler.
That pause made me really uncomfortable. Of course he knew I screwed up. I didn’t want the leak to reach this level. Why didn’t I think this through?!
— To my left — he continued — part of the Blackwatch team: Jesse McCree and Genji Shimada. Unfortunately, I was not able to get ahold of Commander Gabriel Reyes and Dr. Moira O’Deorain, and I really hope they were not involved in this mess. Now, let me tell you all something. Believe it or not, Overwatch is just like any other military organization. We fight for peace with guns. There’s gonna be blood and there are circumstances which the choices are going to be justified by the means. I condemn the recent “leak” of Overwatch and Blackwatch activity. I will not resign my current position as Strike Commander and leader of Overwatch, this is when I’ll stand up for my organization and my beliefs as most as I can. I’ll be sending to all of you a document I’ve written myself about how we are gonna spend the future days in this organization. Reach me for any further doubts after reading it. Dismissed.
Everyone started to leave the room.
As I stood up, Jack walked towards me. He was mad.
— Ziegler...
He was interrupted by one of my assistants who rushed towards me.
— Dr. Ziegler! Dr. Ziegler! It’s an emergency! You need to come now!
I followed her in a rush. As I looked back, Jack was still standing there, looking at me with disapproval.
Why was I stupid enough to leak the information without knowing what would happen after it? I only wanted justice, not destruction.
We got to the medical ward of the building. In one of the beds, this woman was lying unconscious. Her face was so familiar to me. My assistant explained to me she was found right outside the headquarters, wandering, then passed out in the arms of the agent who was escorting her out. She handed me the file with information they could get on her through our identification system: it was Amélie Lacroix. Of course I knew her, General Gérard Lacroix’s wife! Problem is… She had been missing for the past three weeks. How the hell did she happen to randomly show up at Overwatch? I should’ve known something wasn’t right.
I start examining her. Apparently she had just collapsed due to lack of hydration. After a while, she regained consciousness. I asked someone to call for a criminal agent to talk to her about her disappearance.
Amélie said she didn’t remember anything. Her last memory is going to bed and then waking up at our facility. We examined her body for criminal signs, but there was nothing. She was literally fine.
Gabriel and Moira had already returned to the facility at this time. Jack didn’t really cared to ask them where they were… If only he did. Moira also helped me run tests on Amélie. We, then, contacted Gérard, who spent one full day alone with her. Nothing seemed wrong.
The following day, I authorized her release. She was clinically well, there was no reason to keep her with us. She went home with Gérard, who took a couple days off to take care of her — also because of all the controversy that was falling down the organization after I leaked that stupid file.
One day later… Things got even worse.
We had no idea such thing could happen.
Gérard was found dead.
And Amélie was missing once again.
All those days went by and Jack did not say one word to me. He’d spend all day locked up in his office. Gabriel didn’t even show up at the headquarters for a couple weeks. At the time, I thought he was having a tough time dealing with the loss of his friend, only to learn later he couldn’t deal with the guilt and the feeling of being powerless against Talon, thanks to Moira.
The United Stations had started the bureaucratic process of analyzing the accusations, which would take at least one year. In the meantime, Overwatch — and, consequently, Blackwatch — activity would keep on going.
With all our bonds already weakened, and I knew this is was, definitely, the beginning of the end for Overwatch.
For my family.

Sometimes Connor has the really strong urge to hold Evan’s hand.
It’s a weird feeling. This desire to just reach out and take Evan’s hand in his own and not even say anything, just hold it.
Sometimes Connor thinks that romantic feelings are bullshit. Especially when it’s seven in the morning and Evan sees him waiting by the locker and lights up like the goddamn sun and Connor’s stomach tries to become an Olympic gymnast.
Like right now.
Evan stands next to Connor, their arms almost touching, as he talks to Alana. They’re still trying to figure out a name for their club, because for whatever reason, Alana refuses to use The Fuck Project.
Jared thinks it’s hilarious, which has somehow worked against the name.
Alana is going on about the details. Evan nods, and he probably knows what’s going on, but Connor’s zoned out. Alana has this in the bag and also Connor isn’t actually involved in their little pet project. Even if the initial idea did come from Alana being way too fucking nosy.
She’s nice when she’s not picking Connor’s brain.
So Alana and Evan talk and Connor stands and people pass them and time until the next class starts ticks down and down and down. It’s a nice moment. Weirdly calm. For once, Connor doesn’t feel entirely awful, despite where he is and everything about himself.
He still wants to hold Evan’s hand.
It’s not like Connor actively tries to think about it. The opposite, in fact. As soon as thoughts about dating Evan pop up, he shoves them to the very back of his brain. He quarantines them away in the darkest corners, because thinking about it hurts.
Evan has made himself a constant in Connor’s life. But a temporary constant. Which is weird and annoying and tiring. Sometimes Connor’s emotions bubble up inside him and threaten to spill out and then Evan will give him this look when Connor pays him and everything just vanishes. Evan looks at Connor and all Connor’s thoughts shrink back and go ‘fuck never mind’.
That doesn’t mean that he’s actually good about not thinking it. He’s getting worse, actually. It’s turning into a mild problem.
Evan can just look at Connor and Connor’s heart will flip and his mind will be consumed with ‘holy fuck I would date the shit out of him’.
He would. Connor has absolutely zoned out staring at Evan on multiple occasions. He keeps passing it off as being tired and honestly it’s a miracle that Evan hasn’t started asking about Connor’s sleep schedule— which is a disaster but isn’t why Connor keeps staring Evan.
Connor keeps staring at Evan because his brain is a fucking traitor and likes to think about what it would be like to kiss Evan.
Of all the boys to fall in love with, Connor had to go and fall in love with Evan Hansen.
Connor checks his phone under his desk. It’s been facedown on his desk — he’s making an attempt in calculus because he’s doing a really shit job right now and he has to pass because he literally cannot spend a day longer in this hellscape than he has to — but he can see the screen lighting up repeatedly.
From: Ev To: Connor AR eyou in clasright no w Of cours e youre in c alss where els e wi oudl you b Im so ryrcan you g et out ?
Connor squints at the board. There are x’s and t’s and some other bullshit that he doesn’t understand. A lot of lines and marks.
Fuck.
He opens another conversation.
From: dickbag To: assface you any good at calc?
Jared replies surprisingly fast. Actually, not so surprisingly. Connor is actually not surprised at all that Jared uses his phone in class.
From: assface To: dickbag ive got a mean b in calc bc y
Connor raises his hand and asks to go to the bathroom. The teacher waves him out the door and keeps teaching.
From: assface To: dickbag i have to do something and i need to not fail you willing to tell me what the fuck is happening?
From: Connor To: Ev where are you? got out of class
Connor heads to the bathroom, because he’s already on the third floor and that’s where Evan was last time. And it’s the closest bathroom. His phone buzzes in his hand as he hurries through the hall and he tries not to groan when it’s just Jared.
From: dickbag To: assface no promises but i can try dont know y ur coming to me lmao also i charge $10/hr
From: assface To: dickbag fine but youre a dick
Connor pushes the bathroom door open. The lights are on, someone’s been in here in the past ten minutes, but the bathroom is empty. He drags his hand through his hair and catches a look at himself in the mirror.
Wow. He looks like shit.
Connor rubs his face and checks his phone again. It’s been buzzing, but it’s just been Jared.
From: dickbag To: assface not news whats so important that ur running out of class?? o shit drugs? 420 blaze it i dont kno weed culture
As Connor scrolls through Jared’s messages, a text from Evan pops up on the top of his screen.
From: Ev To: Connor J aanito s clostesecond follr
Connor runs into a wide eyed freshman as he hurries out of the bathroom and swings around a corner to get to the stairs. He only vaguely knows where that closet it, because he’s never had a reason to pay attention to it. Janitor’s closets are usually locked and it’s not like Connor is observant when it comes to his surroundings.
He skips the last few steps and just jumps down to the landing, slowing to a fast walk as he searches the hallway for the janitor’s closet. He finds it tucked into a corner between two classrooms. He glances up and down the hallway before he knocks softly. He tries the handle and knocks again before he pulls the door open.
“Evan?” he asks softly into the darkened closet. Light from the hallway spills into the darkness, barely brushing Evan’s shoes. Evan is huddled into the corner furthest away from the door, squished between shelves, on the ground with his knees pulled to his chest and his arms covering his head.
Connor stares for a minute, listening to Evan’s ragged breathing, before he steps into the closet. He turns on his phone’s flashlight and covers it with his hand before pulling the door closed. He lets some light slip through his fingers and finds a bottle of Windex on one of the shelves. He puts his phone under it and the room glows blue. Maybe life hacks aren’t always as shitty as they seem.
Connor sits down on the floor next to Evan. “Ev,” he whispers. “Can I help?”
Evan doesn’t look up. After a few seconds he stops holding on to his hair so tightly and holds a shaking hand out to Connor. Connor takes it. Almost immediately, Evan’s hand clenches around Connor’s, squeezing Connor’s fingers tightly. Connor moves over so the position is less awkward and lightly squeezes Evan’s hand back.
Connor sits and waits, because he doesn’t really know what else to do. He watches Evan’s breathing and tries not to let his mind wander too much, because it’s too early in the day for any of that shit.
Evan loosens his grip on Connor’s hand and the tension seems to run out of his body. He sags against the wall and slowly lifts his head from his knees. He pulls his hand away. “S-sor-sorry.”
“Don’t be,” Connor says. His voice sounds weirdly rough. He clears it and stretches out his fingers.
Evan stares at them. “I— i-if I hurt your…your hand I didn’t mean to I just—”
“You didn’t,” Connor interrupts quickly. “See?” He wiggles his fingers. “Work just fine.” He stuffs his hands in his pockets. “Do you…uh, want to talk about it?”
Evan makes a strangled sound. “N-nothing to… I mean there’s always—” He rubs his eyes with the back of his hand. “D-dr. Sherman always says that— that there’s something? And I just don’t u-understand what so I’m…supposed to process it. But I just…”
“I think it’s a fucking lot to ask you to process shit right after a panic attack,” Connor says flatly.
Evan shrugs helplessly. “I don’t— I-I forget. I forget what I’m— what I feel in the moment a-and what I was thinking and then when she asks what was going through my mind I can’t tell her and then I feel worse and like a failure and I think I’m supposed to be getting better because I go to therapy and I take meds and—” Evan cuts himself off to take a deep breath. “It takes time,” Evan says softly. “It takes time. It takes time and it’ll get better it just—”
“Takes time?” Connor asks.
Evan smiles at him weakly. “Y-yeah.”
The bell rings, slightly muffled. Evan goes tense.
Connor thinks about his calculus teacher. She probably won’t be thrilled that he skipped out on the rest of class, but whatever. Maybe he’ll do homework for once and try to get back on her disinterested side.
“Your mom is working right now, isn’t she?” Connor asks slowly.
Evan nods. “Yeah, she’s a-always working. Pretty much.”
“We’ve still got three classes to get through.” Connor bumps their knees together. “Can you hide out in the nurse’s office or something? I’d say just leave, but…” Evan shakes his head. “Yeah, exactly. I don’t know shit about doing things the ‘right’ way.”
“I’ll…be okay,” Evan says.
Connor stares at him.
“It’s-it’s really fine,” Evan insists.
“Ev—”
“I’ve done it before, it’s not a big… I’ll just— it’s okay, really.”
“You aren’t taking the bus home today,” Connor says. He gets to his feet and takes the Windex off of his phone. “Light warning.” Evan covers his eyes. Connor flicks the light on and winces in the brightness before shutting off his flashlight. He slides his phone into his pocket and offers Evan his hand.
Evan takes it and lets Connor haul him to his feet. “Y-you don’t have to—”
“Fuck the bus,” Connor interrupts. “Zoe has a perfectly good car.”
Evan blinks. “Doesn’t she have rehearsal today?”
“How do you know my sister’s schedule better than I do?” Connor opens the door of the closet and peers out into the hallway. They have to be careful, because high school is fucking hell. Most people won’t give a shit and don’t pay attention to shit, but all it takes is one person assuming something. When no one is looking, he steps out of the closet and pulls Evan along, walking away from the closet quickly and melting into the thinning crowd. “So what if we have to wait for her to get out, just hang around with me for a little bit.”
As soon as Connor says it, his stomach twists. “I don’t have any today but—”
Evan stops walking, yanking Connor back a bit. They’re still holding hands. Connor pulls his away and puts his hands in the pocket of his sweatshirt.
“D-don’t,” Evan says.
Connor furrows his eyebrows. “What do you mean?”
“You’re already— you’re doing me a favor by…by driving me home. So you don’t have to…” Evan gestures with his hands. “Debt paid. It’s— you’re fine.” Connor stares at him. “I— okay.”
Evan takes a step back. “I have to… I have class. I’ll see you after.” He spins on his heel and walks down the hallway, dodging other students before disappearing around a corner.
—«·»—
Connor drops into his seat in the back of AP Literature and puts his head down on his desk.
He needs to think about something — anything — other than Evan. Evan is supposed to be the one who thinks himself into an anxious spiral, not Connor. And Connor can’t help but feel like something is horribly wrong.
But, fuck, he wouldn’t stop their arrangement for anything. He’ll keep paying Evan to put up with him in the halls for as long as he possibly can, just to see Evan smile.
He wants to see Evan smile today. Anything other than the empty expression he had on his face when he walked away from Connor earlier.
Alana sits down next to Connor. Sometimes Connor forgets him and Alana talk now, even if it’s only because she’s Evan’s friend and probably thinks this is a good way to keep tabs on Evan. All she’s ever wanted from Connor is information, anyway.
Connor stares out the window at the icy field hockey field spread out in front of the school as the teacher starts the lesson. Something about the essay they have due in a few days at midnight.
Alana hands over her essay, printed and typed, five pages long double spaced and stapled in the corner. “It’s just a rough draft,” she says.
Connor blinks at the paper. “Uh…were we supposed to…”
She shakes her head. “No, we just needed to have an outline today.” She adjusts her glasses and opens a notebook. “But if you didn’t—”
“I did,” Connor says quickly. He actually did for once. “Here.” He pulls out his notebook and flips through pages and pages of shitty sketches to the section where he just stuffs any loose papers he’s handed. He pulls out the outline and smooths it out a little. “Don’t expect anything.”
“I’m sure it’s fine,” Alana says as she takes it from him.
Connor squints at her. “I did this while high so it’s either a brilliant disaster or just a fucking mess.”
Alana grins. “I hope it’s a brilliant disaster.”
“Probably not.”
She just shrugs and pulls out a pen, tapping it on her notebook as she skims over the outline. Connor turns to Alana’s essay and starts reading. Alana likes words and complex sentences. She’s good at backing up her points with evidence from the text, and doesn’t dance around her conclusions. She has a structure and logic to her essay that Connor’s never been able to achieve. He just sort of says words until he feels like he’s done.
He reads her fourth paragraph a few times, picking at his nail polish as he does so. He glances over to Alana and then reads it again.
She’s scribbling on his outline when he looks back to her. She meets his eyes. “Something wrong?”
Connor’s eyes flick from her to her essay. “Uh…no.”
Alana rolls her eyes and hands him her pen. “Fix it. Whatever it is. That’s the entire point of peer review.”
“I could be wrong—” Connor starts, but Alana holds up a hand to stop him.
“I’ll decide what to do with your feedback. Just do it.”
Connor nods slowly and hesitates with the pen hovering over the paper. “What are you doing, by the way?”
“Translating.”
“What?”
Alana pulls another pen from her backpack and uncaps it. “Your outline is good, you have some really good ideas in here, it’s just lost in the typos and grammar.”
“I can figure it out,” Connor says. “You don’t have to do that shit.”
Alana raises an eyebrow. “Are you sure?”
Connor blinks. “…not anymore?”
She nods firmly. “Exactly. You edit mine, I’ll edit yours. You won’t hurt my feelings, please, feel free to rip it to shreds.”
Connor exhales slowly. “Okay, Beck. Whatever.” He strikes out a sentence. “Whatever you say.”
—«·»—
Connor meets Evan by Evan’s locker. They lock eyes and for a second everything feels weird. And then Jared shows up.
Connor has never been relieved to see Jared Kleinman before.
“What’s up?” Jared asks, clapping a hand on Evan’s shoulder. “My…main bros.”
Connor rolls his eyes. “Don’t call me that.”
“Alright, crossing that off the list.” Jared gives Evan a look and Evan shrugs. Connor looks between them and shifts his weight to his other foot. “Anyway, you free on Saturday?” he asks Evan.
Evan blinks. “Y-yes?”
“My moms wanted you over for dinner. They’re going to try to harass Heidi into coming too but,” Jared shrugs, “we know how that is.”
Evan smiles and ducks his head. “I-I mean— yeah that’d be…that’d be nice. Um, I can…ask my mom?”
“Nice.” Jared holds his fist out for a fist bump. Evan rolls his eyes and knocks their knuckles together. “Okay, text me, cause if she’s working, I’ll swing by and pick you up.”
Evan nods. “O-okay, I will.”
“Sweet, got to dash or I’ll never get out of here.” Jared shoots finger guns at Connor. “See, ya Murph,” he says before sprinting down the hallway.
Connor lifts a hand to wave goodbye as jealousy twists in his stomach. It makes him feel gross. He swallows it and turns to Evan. “So, uh…we can probably hide in a practice room until Zoe’s done.”
Evan pulls on the straps of his backpack. “A-are they, um, open? Because I know, I mean I’ve heard because sometimes the band kids in my classes complain about this, that they lock? Or get locked? So…”
“We can…check?” Connor suggests.
Evan nods. “That’s…probably a good idea.”
Connor leads Evan down to the music wing. The first two practice rooms are locked, but the third that they try is unlocked. Connor raises his eyebrows at Evan and pushes the door open. The lights flicker on automatically and Evan closes the door behind them.
All four of the practice rooms are the same in Connor’s experience, a keyboard and bench, a trash, and maybe a stand or chair that someone has dragged in. Except one, that for some reason, has two pianos. They lucked out and that is exactly the room they’re in. Less room, but it doesn’t really matter.
Evan puts his bag down on one of the piano benches and then sits on the floor in the space between the end of the piano and the wall.
Connor coughs. “Uh…are you…okay?” He winces. Yikes.
“Tired,” Evan says softly.
Connor glances to the light switch before pressing the button to turn off the lights. There’s still a decent amount of light from the window in the door, but it’s darker. Connor puts down his bag and joins Evan on the floor. Evan looks up at him.
“Take a nap,” Connor suggests.
Evan blinks at him.
Connor sighs. “Scoot over.”
Evan moves so he’s as close to the piano as he can get. Connor squeezes into the space between Evan and the wall. There’s way more space in these practice rooms than it seems, the pianos make them look small.
Connor pulls on the sleeve of Evan’s sweatshirt. “Just lean on me. More comfortable than the wall, probably, though I’m basically all bone.”
“Y-you sure?”
Connor rolls his eyes because it feels right. “I wouldn’t be offering if I wasn’t. Close your eyes, Ev.”
“Okay,” Evan whispers. He rests his head on Connor’s shoulder. “Wake me up if your arm falls asleep.”
“Sure,” Connor lies.
A few minutes later, Evan’s breathing starts to even out. When Connor is sure that he’s asleep, he carefully pulls his phone out of his pocket.
From: C To: Z waiting in practice room c evans napping so dont come in just knock or some shit
Once he’s sent the texts, he puts his phone down and turns his attention back to Evan. Connor turns his head to look down at Evan, and when his nose brushes Evan’s hair, his heart goes into double time.
Fuck.
—«·»—
Connor thinks he’s drifted off when Zoe finally knocks on the door. He inhales sharply and sits up straighter, eyes wide. He leans forward to see Zoe standing in front of the door with her guitar on her back and her saxophone in hand.
He leans back and sighs. Okay.
Connor shakes Evan’s shoulder. “Ev, Ev wake up. Zoe’s done.”
Evan groans and blinks blearily. “Huh?”
Connor’s breath catches in his throat. He finds himself lost in Evan’s sleepy eyes for a moment too long and hopes Evan’s still too asleep to notice. “Zoe,” he says. “We can go home now.”
“Oh.” Evan pulls himself to his feet using the piano. About halfway up, he grabs Connor’s arm and pulls Connor up as well.
They grab their bags and open the door.
“Sleep well?” Zoe asks with a smirk.
Connor flips her off behind Evan.
Evan shrugs. “I-it was the floor.”
Connor takes Zoe’s saxophone from her. “Let’s go. I have an essay to write.”
Zoe blinks. “You do?”
“Unfortunately,” he grumbles.
The parking lot is blissfully empty when they step outside. The air is bitter and cold, and Connor wishes that it would just snow more than half an inch so the burning cold is worth it. He grabs Evan’s arm when Evan slips on ice and Zoe makes an offhanded comment about driving and black ice.
“You know?” she says to Evan.
Evan blinks. “N-no, I don’t— I don’t drive?”
Zoe frowns. “Do you take the bus?”
Evan turns pink, and Connor wonders if he’s redder because of the cold or not. “Yeah, it’s…yeah.”
Zoe looks to Connor.
“What?” Connor asks.
“What time does the bus pick you up?” Zoe asks.
“Uh…” Evan slows his walk. “I— around like…6:35?”
Zoe purses her lips. “Okay. Monday? We can swing by and pick you up.” She twirls her car keys around her finger. “Unless you hate my music choices as much as Connor does.”
“You don’t have to do that,” Evan says quickly.
“Too late,” Zoe sing songs. She unlocks the car and pops the trunk open. She puts her guitar in and then takes her saxophone from Connor. “We’d be happy to, right Connor?”
“Duh,” Connor says. “The bus is bullshit.”
“Good for the environment,” Evan says. “P-public transport!”
“We’re already using this car.” Zoe slams the trunk shut. “So it doesn’t actually matter. No additional cars on the road, just one less Evan the a bus.”
“Uh…”
“Sleep on it.” She rubs her arms. “Let’s go before I freeze.” She glances to Connor as she moves to the driver’s side. “How are you alive?”
Connor shrugs and pulls open the car door. He slides into the backseat next to Evan. “Can’t feel cold if you’re dead inside.”
Zoe twists around in her seat to glare at him before shutting the door. She turns on the car, blasts the heat even though it’s just air at the moment, and plugs her phone in. “Today we’re listening to Billy Joel,” she announces. “Get over it Connor.”
Connor just leans his forehead against the cold window as Uptown Girl plays from the speakers.
Zoe asks for directions a few times, but for the most part, they drive in silence aside from the Billy Joel in the slowly warming car.
Connor sits up when they arrive at Evan’s. “I’ll text you,” he says.
Evan gives him a smile. “Y-yeah. Thanks for the ride.”
“I’ll see you Monday at 6:40!” Zoe calls out before he shuts the door. She turns to look at Connor. “You moving up?”
“I guess.” Connor unbuckles and climbs over the center consul to get into the passenger seat. He buckles back in and Zoe backs out of the driveway.
“So…” she says slowly. “You and Evan.”
“What about us?” Connor asks flatly.
Zoe glances to him. “Anything…up?”
“Do you want me to say it?”
“No, but I can’t stop you from doing shit.”
“The sky.”
Zoe rolls her eyes. “Great, now that that’s out of the way—”
“Nothing,” Connor interrupts. “Can’t two people be friends?”
“Well, yeah, obviously.” Zoe taps on the steering wheel. “You just seem like more than that.”
Connor scoffs. More like barely that. “We aren’t.”
“Do you want to be?”
Connor stares at the road. “The light is green.”
Connor spends most of his Saturday writing his paper. Because Alana had written all over his outline and now he feels obligated to make something half decent out of the genius she turned his bullshit into. Also, she shared her essay with him on google docs the night before for him to edit — he does not know why the fuck she did that and hates the fact that school emails are standardized so she didn’t even have to ask for his email — and offered to edit his in return. He’s not going to give up that opportunity. He’s doing fine in english but another solid essay grade can get his parents to calm down for at least a day.
He texts Evan and draws when he’s not writing. The other weekend, Cynthia dragged him off to the store with her, so he threw a cheap set of kids’ watercolors in the cart. And a box of Capri sun. He sits on his floor and drinks a Capri sun while he waits for a painting to dry. Evan is making lunch right now, so it’ll be a few minutes before he responds. Evan doesn’t usually text Connor while he’s making food, apparently the risk of fire is higher than normal, and that’s not just Evan’s anxiety talking.
Evan had texted him the night before thanking him for the ride home. Connor had replied ‘what are friends for’ and then threw his phone across the room so he didn’t have to read Evan’s response. It didn’t end up mattering, because Evan’s next text wasn’t sent until this morning, and it was a frantic apology because he fell asleep before responding.
Connor just said it was fine and changed the subject as fast as he could.
Connor sighs and gets to his feet. As he waits for the painting to dry, he’s really fucking impatient, he takes pictures of some of his least shitty doodles from class and posts them on a randomass tumblr he made after Evan suggested posting his art online. Mostly Connor did it out of curiosity, he didn’t really use the site otherwise, just posts drawings and then vanishes for a few days, but it’s also good because it means he has somewhere where all his art was stored digitally. He might’ve accidentally spilt a mug of coffee all over a notebook the other day. And he distinctly remembers setting a few sketchbooks on fire back in middle school.
From: Ev To: Connor Back ! ANd I didnt evne burn anything
Connor smiles to himself and leans against his bed.
From: Connor To: Ev congrats you now have the cooking skills of a 12 year old
From: Ev To: Connor :((
Connor hesitates before typing out his next message. He really shouldn’t ask — it’s a fucking terrible idea on so many levels — but it’s been slowly eating away at him. Which doesn’t make sense. But whatever.
From: Connor To: Ev doesnt matter though i mean youre having dinner tonight wth jared right??
He puts his phone on his desk and goes back to painting and tries not to think about it for a few minutes. It’s not fair of him to get jealous. Because Jared is trying to get better. He’s still a dick but there’s an attempt there.
Connor hasn’t changed anything.
He sits on the floor and works on the painting. Now that he has slightly less shitty watercolors, they’re still pretty garbage but they aren’t old and mostly gone, he uses way too much purple again.
Whatever.
He doesn’t check his phone again until he has to wait for more paint to dry. He’s tempted to grab a sketchbook and keep ignoring it, but that’s not fair to Evan.
From: Ev To: Connor Oh y eah We used to ha ve dinner a lot togethe r when ew wer elittle All oru moms were friends Kinda weird that were doing it again but… NIce?? Hopefull y ? My mom s ocming which is nice She hasnt been home ofr a few nights so yeah
Connor takes a slow breath before replying.
From: Connor To: Ev thats pretty cool i hope its fun and the food doesnt suck
Evan replies almost immediately, even though Connor took almost twenty minutes to respond.
From: Ev To: Connor Thnk you!!! Jareds moms are really good cook sso itll be good I think I hope dinner goes ok for you tonight !! Good luck :)
Connor stares at the smiley face and falls on his bed with a groan.
—«·»—
“You’ve been spending a lot of time with Evan lately,” Larry says, pushing quino around his plate.
Connor resists the urge to roll his eyes. They never really talked about that. Sometimes, when Zoe goes over a friend’s house or has a friend over, Connor will give Larry a very pointed look and Larry will find something on his phone fascinating. An amazing double standard.
And, like? Of course he spends time with Evan. They’re best friends— pretending to be best friends. Connor doesn’t know how to get that through Larry’s thick skull.
Evan is Connor’s best friend.
“Well yeah,” Connor says, stabbing a piece of kale with his fork. “He’s my boyfriend.”
Wait, shit—
Zoe chokes on her drink.
“What?!” Larry practically shouts, silverware hitting the table.
Connor opens his mouth to explain that technically, no, they aren’t boyfriends, though they are friends who are boys, even if sometimes Evan looks at him and makes Connor feel like he’s turning to putty. But they aren’t actually—
He glances to his mom with wide eyes. “Mom? Are you okay?”
Cynthia smiles, eyes watering. “I’m just so happy for you, sweetie!”
Connor slowly looks around the table. His mother crying tears of joy, his father staring at him in shock, his sister trying to bite back a smile.
Connor needs to talk to Evan immediately.
They’re fucked.
—«·»—
Connor grabs Zoe’s before she can disappear into her bedroom. She stiffens and he pulls his hand away. “Sorry.”
“You’re fine.” She crosses her arms. “I thought you told me nothing was going on between you and Evan.” She raises her eyebrows.
Connor grimaces. “I— don’t tell Evan.”
Zoe tilts her head. “Don’t tell Evan…you’re dating?”
Fuck. “No, no, fuck.” Connor frantically searches his mind. “I, uh, we weren’t going to…tell people? Yet? And I…fucked that up. So don’t— don’t mention it to him until like he says something or whatever, okay?”
Zoe mimes zipping her lips. “Secret’s safe with me. But also, I fucking knew it.”
Connor forces a laugh and runs his hand through his hair. “Yeah. You did.”
Zoe goes back into her room and Connor grabs his phone and goes down to the basement. He wonders if he can get his door back for Hanukkah, but for now, this is the only private place he’s got. He would lock himself in the bathroom, but that’s still way too close to the rest of his family members for comfort.
He flicks on the light as he heads down the stairs and grabs a blanket off the back of one of the chairs. The basement is about half finished and has been since Connor was in middle school. One of those projects that Larry never got around to finishing. Now they mostly use it for storage and hanging out when it gets too hot in the summer and even central air isn’t working well enough. Him and Zoe used to camp out for weeks in the basement on air mattresses and stay up way past their bedtimes giggling.
Now it’s December. He hasn’t been down here since he punched the far wall when everyone else was asleep. Him and Zoe haven’t spent time together in here in years. They haven’t done much together in years.
Connor wraps himself in a blanket and sits down in one of the old oversized chairs. They’re only down here because the went out of style and were deemed unworthy for the living room.
He unlocks his phone, scrolls through his contacts, and presses call. Then he listens to the phone ring and hopes that they’re done with dinner at the Kleinmans’ while he waits for the call to be answered.
“Hello?”
Connor grits his teeth. “Hi. I…might need help.”
“Is it about Evan?”
Connor frowns. “Why do you assume it’s about Evan?” It is but—
Jared laughs. “Dude, we aren’t friends. The only reason you talk to me is because of Evan. What’s up?”
Connor blinks. He’s just gotten so used to having Jared constantly around that it’s like they’re basically friends. But not. Because Connor doesn’t have any real friends.
“I,” Connor clears his throat, “my family now thinks Evan and I are dating.”
There’s a long pause. Connor waits for Jared to start cackling, but Jared just whispers, “Holy shit.”
“Say whatever shit you want to now,” Connor mutters. “Get it out.”
“Holy shit,” Jared repeats. Connor rolls his eyes. “Murphy, what the fuck.”
“Yeah, I know, I fucked up.”
“What are you going to do?” Jared sounds almost amazed.
Connor frowns at the phone. This is not how he thought this conversation would go. “Pay Evan two hundred dollars? I know you meant that as a joke but—”
“Fucking shit, my dude. What the hell!”
Connor drags his hand through his hair. “Kleinman, my mom started crying when I said Evan was my boyfriend, okay? I can’t— fuck. I don’t know.”
Jared whistles.
Connor picks at his nailpolish. “Would Evan…go along with it? Do you think?”
“I think that’s a question for Evan.”
“I’m asking you.”
Jared snorts. “Okay, fine. I think he’ll go along with it.” It almost feels like Jared is going to say something more, but he doesn’t. “You got two hundred bucks lying around?”
“No,” Connor admits. He has an idea. It’s a terrible idea that could backfire, but it’s an idea.
“So…how are you going to get it?” Jared gasps. “Oh shit! Are we going to rob a bank?”
Connor frowns. “No? Why is that the first thing you came up with? Why would you rob a bank for two hundred dollars? Wouldn’t fucking…normal robbery be easier?”
“Fuck off. Are we doing that?”
“No.”
“Well we both know you’re not getting a job—”
“Fuck you.”
“—and that would probably take too long. Are we going to sell weed?”
“What? No,” Connor says. “Also how long did you restrain yourself before asking that?”
“Too long for that boring answer and reaction,” Jared admits. “Give me something to work with, stoner kid. We could just steal it. I know you said no, but—”
“Jared what the fuck,” Connor interrupts.
“Dude, you aren’t offering any ideas here, I’m just trying to help out.”
Connor rubs the bridge of his nose. “Fucking— do you know how PayPal works?”
“Yeah sure,” Jared says. “Super easy, why?”
Connor sighs. “Would you be willing to help me set one up?”
“Ten bucks.”
“Fine.”
“Yeah sure, you wanted some help on calc anyway. Do you have info on your bank account, by the way?”
“I…can find it,” Connor says slowly. “Does tomorrow work? My house?”
“Yeah sure, my man. Shoot me an address and a time. I expect snacks.”
Jared shows up on the doorstep ten minutes earlier than Connor expected with his backpack slung over one shoulder and a Starbucks drink in his left hand. “Sup.”
Connor rolls his eyes. “You’re early.”
“Fashionably.”
“That’s not how it works.”
“Whatever.”
Zoe leans out of the dining room. “Who’s here?”
Connor steps aside to let Jared in. Jared waves at Zoe.
Zoe squints. “What are you doing here?”
“So nice to see you again too, Smaller Murphy,” Jared says. He kicks his shoes off and puts them next to Zoe’s converse.
“Calc,” Connor says. “I’m…not doing great.”
“But you aren’t failing yet,” Jared says. “So we’re just going to keep you from not doing that. What are you learning again?”
Connor shrugs. “Something implicit. I’ll show you the homework.”
Jared nods. “Chill, chill.”
“Aren’t you friends with Alana?” Zoe asks.
“I…guess?” Connor frowns. “What does that have to do with anything?”
“She’s the valedictorian, isn’t she? Why didn’t you ask her for help?”
“Uh…” Connor looks to Jared.
Jared takes a sip of his drink. “I’m genuinely offended, by the way. I’m no Alana Beck but I am passing AP Calc BC, which is more than you can say for seventy percent of our class. Don’t take it.”
“I wasn’t planning on it,” Zoe assures him. “Just didn’t tutoring was your…thing.”
“Alana tutors,” Jared says.
“I know, that’s my point.”
“Ha ha very funny. She tutors a lot of people so it makes sense that I take someone off her workload.” Jared points to Connor. “As her friend, Connor understands.”
“Right.” Connor nods. “That.”
Zoe rolls her eyes. “I wasn’t judging you or anything I was just wondering. Have fun. Don’t set the house on fire, I’m going over Pippa’s to work on our history project, and Mom and Dad are out shopping or something.”
“I’ll keep Jared away from anything breakable,” Connor promises.
“I remind you I’m doing you a favor,” Jared says.
“You’re making me pay you.”
“Shit you’re right.”
—«·»—
“This is easy shit,” Jared says, looking up from Connor’s textbooks. “Really easy.”
Connor flips him off.
“I’ll explain it!” Jared promises. “This makes my job easier, probably. So back to real reason I’m here—”
“You are here to help me with math.” Connor reaches for his laptop. “I’m going to open commissions.”
Jared stares at him with a blank expression.
“Commissions,” Connor repeats slowly.
Jared blinks. “Since when do you draw?”
“Do you actually know anything about me?” Connor asks.
Jared looks away. “Valid. How can I help?”
“Mostly just need help with PayPal. And maybe wording the post? I don’t know shit about talking to people.” Connor opens his laptop and logs in. He closes a few tabs and opens up tumblr. He hesitates and then opens his blog. “Here.”
“Your theme is awful,” Jared says flatly.
“Did I ask you?”
“Didn’t have to.” Jared clicks a few times. “Dude, if you want to be selling your art, you need a theme that isn’t painful to look at.” Connor opens his mouth to protest, but Jared holds up a hand. “I’m doing you a favor here. Give me like ten minutes. I will change your world.”
“I’m not asking you to.”
Jared pushes away in the desk chair. “Too late, I’m not helping if we don’t change this ugly ass theme. Doodle or something while I do this. Make a commissions banner, I don’t fucking know.” Jared hunches over the laptop and starts typing.
Connor stares at him. Hopefully Jared isn’t going to charge him for this too.
Forty minutes later, Connor is putting aside a random drawing and Jared is looking up from the laptop.
“Bam, motherfucker,” Jared announces spinning the laptop around. “A picture heavy theme with easy navigation, readable text, and colors that don’t make me want to stab my eyes out.” Connor leans forward to see it. It actually looks pretty decent. And pretty professional. Jared has also added a few links, including one to Connor’s still nonexistent PayPal and a commissions page. “By the way, your art is pretty rad.”
Connor blinks. “Thanks. Did you want that bank account information?”
“Yeah sure.”
Connor gets up from the floor. “Let’s break into my dad’s office.”
Jared sets aside the laptop. “Sweet.”
—«·»—
Connor sits down in the chair in Larry’s office. He pulls open one of the lower drawers in the desk and flips through the the hanging folders until he finds one with his name.
“Don’t steal my identity or anything,” he says to Jared as he hands him one of the folders. “But see if anything in there is what you need.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Jared starts flipping through the papers. “Your identity is too lame to steal.”
“Thanks.”
Connor skims over various forms and papers with his name all over them. So weird that he’s attached to all of these things but doesn’t understand any of them. That might be concerning. Is he supposed to know what these mean? He squints at something that looks like it has something to do with money.
“I can’t believe you’re going through with this,” Jared mutters.
Connor looks up. “With?”
“This fake dating shit.” Jared puts a stack of papers down on the desk. “I thought this was convoluted before.”
“You helped.”
“So you two keep reminding me.” Jared flips a piece of paper over. “I think this is it.”
“Cool.” Connor puts his folder away and Jared puts Connor’s laptop on the desk. Connor fills out what he can and Jared helps with the rest.
“And you have a PayPal,” Jared announces, finishing the form. “If you click this you can transfer money to your bank account, which is how you’ll get the money off the internet and into Evan’s hands.”
Connor nods. “Makes sense.” He grabs the papers and puts them back into the folder. He puts it back in the bottom drawer and makes sure everything is just how Larry left it before he gets up from the chair.
“I genuinely didn’t think either of you would get invested in this shit,” Jared says as they stop in the kitchen to grab a bag of chips.
Connor shrugged. “I fucked up, that doesn’t mean anything.”
Jared gives him a flat look before biting into a chip. “Let’s just finish this shit so I can teach you how implicit differentiation works.”
Connor wrinkles his nose. “Fine.”
They bring the bag of chips up to Connor’s bedroom and sit on the floor with Connor’s laptop in front of them. Between handfuls of chips, Jared sentences to the post.
“We can’t call it ‘I’m Gay Give Me Money’,” Connor protests.
“Why not?” Jared asks. “It’s tumblr.”
“What’s your point?”
Jared pulls the laptop closer and starts typing. “We just say like… ‘I’m trying to meet my boyfriend’, we stay vague on the details no one wants to know the complexity of this shit and also it’s weird as fuck, ‘so I’m opening commissions’. Blah blah blah here are details…” Jared looks up at Connor. “Any suggestions for prices?”
Connor shrugs.
“You are the least helpful person,” Jared mutters. “Okay…going on what I saw on your blog…” He types rapidly for a few minutes. “And posted.”
“What?!” Connor grabs the laptop from Jared. “Why did you do that?!”
“You weren’t going to have anything to say so fuck it, it’s posted.” Jared pops another chip in his mouth. “Chill the fuck out.”
Connor reloads the page to check the post. He doesn’t have any idea if the prices are reasonable, but Jared put up Connor’s email and a link to his PayPal and tagged the post with a few tags that make sense and a few that don’t.
Connor groans. “If you fucked this up for me—”
“I didn’t,” Jared says. “I am doing you so many solids right now. And now I’m about to try to teach you calculus. I am literally a god.”
Connor resists the urge to slam his head against the keyboard.

Hello and I hope you have enjoyed your stay in Ba Sing Se so far. I am your host Joo Dee. Remember, everyone is safe. There is no war in Ba Sing Se. Today we watched the following episodes in “Book 2: Earth.” We will also be watching the same episodes tomorrow (Sunday, March 18, 2018) at the same time.
2.13
The Drill
With the Gaang in Ba Sing Se, Azula, Mai and Ty Lee (whom I will dub “the Trio” moving forward) arrive in Ba Sing Se with the Fire Nation military and The Drill the episode is named for. This drill was created to penetrate Ba Sing Se’s impenetrable wall. Ba Sing Se’s General Sung seems to be so comforted by the presence of the wall, that it takes him no time at all to tell Aang that the Avatar is not needed, but the Gaang is not dissuaded. Aang, Katara and Sokka successfully sneak into the the drill to damage it from the inside. While Toph, refusing to be without her bending, commits to slowing down the drill from the outside. The Gaang encounters the Trio and a fight ensues with Aang showing off the earthbending he’s most recently learned. It was pretty impressive! Oh, and Momo got to save the day! I knew I always liked Momo for a reason. It’s not just because he’s cute. The Gaang escapes the Trio and the drill is successfully stopped.
Lee and Mushi (or otherwise known as Zuko and Iroh, respectively) arrive in Ba Sing Se as well. You’d think they were following the Avatar or something! But no, actually, Iroh’s White Lotus contacts decided since the pair are practically refugees, that Ba Sing Se would be ideal for them. Iroh flirts with a ticket seller to get into Ba Sing Se, while Jet (and his wheatgrass!) jeatgrass.tumblr.com flirts with Zuko to try and get him to join the new reformed Freedom Fighters. That’s right folks! Since the last time we saw Jet, he has decided to change his ways and only do what’s right. Let’s see if he’ll live up that goal.
2.14
City of Walls and Secrets
We see the Gaang on an earthbending operated train travelling to the inner wall. They meet me! Joo Dee. I introduce them as their guide and waive off any attempts the Gaang make to meet the Earth King. Because of course, “one doesn't just pop in on the Earth King.” How laughable! We meet the Dai Li (cultural authority of Ba Sing Se) and its leader Long Feng when Toph and Katara dress up like high society girls to sneak into a party in order to meet the Earth King. In the meantime, Aang and Sokka manage to sneak into the party as busboys. We see Bosco for the first time as he voraciously attacks the food in front of him. Long Feng takes the Gaang aside and tells them that the Earth King doesn’t have time to get involved in “political squabbles and the day to day minutiae of military activities. What’s most important to his royal majesty is maintaining the cultural heritage of Ba Sing Se.” It is the Dai Li that oversees the military and other resources. The Gaang are warned that they will be watched very closely to make sure they don’t mention the war to anyone lest they be expelled from the city and be unable find Appa.
Jet, knowing Zuko and Iroh are Fire Nation after spotting evidence of Iroh firebending, starts obsessively spying on the two. Zuko and Iroh start working in a tea shop. After repeated attempts to catch Zuko and Iroh firebending fail, Jet decides to attack them at the tea shop in an attempt to force at least one of them to use their firebending. Iroh cleverly insists that Jet is just confused, everyone else comes to the conclusion that Jet is violently crazy and Jet gets taken in by the Dai Li. He is brainwashed to believe: "There is no war within the walls. Here we are safe. Here we are free."
2.15
The Tales of Ba Sing Se
Katara decides to take Toph on a girls day out. After putting on some makeup and taking a stroll, they walk onto a bridge where some girls make fun of their makeup. Toph, ever unwilling to put up with such behaviour, earthbends them into the water. Katara then comforts her friend. I’m glad these two are actually getting along.
Aang, while looking for Appa, sees the state of the animals living in a poorly funded zoo and decides to free them. He causes a massive havoc and ruins the cabbage man’s cabbages again. At least that rabbaroo got to eat though! Aang forces the guards to open the gates and quickly makes a nice habitat for the zoo animals which the zoo keeper thanks him for.
Someone tries to mug Iroh. Iroh, being Iroh, corrects his stance and gives him some life advice. The mugger graciously thanks him and commits to seeking his goal of being a masseur. Just Iroh things! Iroh honours his son’s death as the entire membership of the Avatar Rewatch cries with him.
Zuko gets asked out on a date by a girl named Jin. I rather like her. Unfortunately for Zuko, he makes quite a few awkward and rather gauche moves. The two still end up kissing, but Zuko very quickly decides after that it simply cannot work between them. So sad. But I guess Mai is happy with this decision.
Momo gets chased around by some felines and does some impromptu street dancing before getting locked in a cage beside the same felines. He very easily escapes, and decides to graciously free his former pursuers.
2.16
Appa’s Lost Days
We see Appa being captured by sandsailers and sold to a circus. The animal trainer mistreats Appa, but he bonds with a little boy that feeds him. Appa manages to escape during a show after performing a few tricks. He searches for his air nomad with no luck as he retraces his steps. We are shown a flashback of Appa and Aang meeting for the first time as youngsters. And we see that Appa and Aang are thinking of each other throughout the night. Appa goes through so many hard times with humans and other animals, he grows defensive of anyone that may harm him. Suki and the other Kyoshi warriors find a hungry, dirty and injured Appa. After the Kyoshi Warriors take care of him for a little while, and gain Appa’s trust, the Trio attacks. Appa manages to escape with the Kyoshi warriors help.

What’s New?[edit]
Season X – Battle Pass
New Season, new Battle Pass. 100 levels, over 100 new rewards. Find out more information on everything that’s new in Season X in the announce blog. In Season X, you’ll have the ability to gift the Battle Pass to a friend! Available on all platforms (timing may vary per regions) until August 15th. Your first purchase also includes a unique Gift Box for you to use when gifting items from the shop.
B.R.U.T.E.
Few suits make you feel as powerful as a mech suit does. In this two-person vehicle, players can control its movement while their partner controls its firepower. Those feeling extra adventurous can operate it solo by switching between moving and shooting!
Rift Zones
The Zero Point Explosion has made the island volatile! Locations once thought to be lost are beginning to appear, but they aren’t the same as they once were… Drop in and explore to discover what mysterious gameplay changes they have in store.
B.R.U.T.E.
This vehicle can be operated by up to two players. If two players are operating it, one (the driver) controls movement, while the other (the gunner) rains down missiles and shotgun shots.
The driver is able to:
Dash into combat.
Super Jump to victory.
Stomp enemies and structures into the ground.
Anything you would normally harvest will grant materials when destroyed.
The passenger has two weapons at their disposal: a shotgun and a missile launcher.
Shotgun
Clip Size: 10
Damage: 50
Headshot Multiplier: 1.5x
Missile Launcher
Fires up to 10 missiles at once.
Holding down Trigger will begin loading missiles.
After releasing Trigger, or after 10 missiles have been loaded, all missiles will automatically fire.
New Mechanic: Overshield
Consumes 200 of any Material type to create a personal overshield for 5 seconds to protect you in the mech.
Vaulted
Baller
Quad Crasher
Flint Knock Pistol
Shadow Bomb
Semi-Auto Sniper
Tactical Assault Rifle
Mounted Turret
Air Strike
Itemized Glider Redeploy (still available in large team modes)
Over time, we have added many mobility options, both itemized and map-based. We feel that Season X is better experienced with a reduction in mobility. As with all changes, we’ll keep a close eye on how this affects the player experience.
Bug Fixes
Fixed the Heavy Shotgun not piercing through water in modes where it is available.
All Campfires now heal vehicles.
The Storm Scout Sniper Rifle no longer has perfect hip-fire accuracy after aiming down sights.
Boogie Bombs and Grenades no longer pass through vehicles.
Gameplay[edit]
Missions
New Battle Pass feature!
Missions are a series of thematic objectives that grant rewards. As you complete these objectives, you’ll earn Battle Stars, XP, and exclusive cosmetic items.
More information about Missions can be found in the Battle Pass and Challenges tabs.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue involving players getting stuck under a ramp as it’s placed.
Arena Game Mode updates!
Season kicks off with Solos and Trios Arena.
Hype will be reset at the start of Season X, with a new scoring structure in place.

Open IV (1500 – 1999)

Matchmaking in Arena is still based on players with similar Hype. Players in higher divisions may experience longer-than-normal wait times to ensure higher-quality matches.
Performance[edit]
Improved level streaming performance for all platforms by optimizing the way assets are preloaded. This reduces cases in which players land on buildings with a low level of detail, particularly on Switch and Xbox One.

Auto-fire system improvements:

If you want to try it out and don’t use Auto-fire already, go into your HUD settings and enable Auto-fire.
Added a new setting: Tap to Search/Interact for Controllers.
Added a message for devices on Android that have the Sensor Pressure settings (S8, S8+, S9, S9+, and Note 9) to inform players about the settings being active.

Fixed the occasional static sounds on Android.
Tapping with interactable items in Edit mode will no longer cause the camera to lock.
Player won’t be able to edit through structures.
Ex: Looking at your wall and being able to edit another structure (floor, ramp, roof).
Fixed an unopenable Chest near Polar Peak.

Now you can replicate the Battle Royale 10 wave storm, or you can create your own multi-phase storm.

What’s New?[edit]
Hit the Road
Get ready for some high intensity road trip action as you assist Quinn and company in broadcasting her Song of the Summer. You never know what challenges and obstacles you may find along the way, and getting there is half the adventure. Load up the van and gather your group because it’s time to Hit the Road!
Introducing the Locker!
Your favorite Emotes, Music Packs, and Loading Screens are now available in Save the World. Head over to the Locker tab to check them out!
General[edit]
The first part of the Locker has arrived in Save the World. You can now use your Emotes, Music Packs, and Loading Screens.
The Locker is currently shared between Save the World and Battle Royale, so if you change it in either location, it will change in both.
Only Emotes, Music Packs, and Loading Screens are available for Save the World at the moment. We plan to support more types of cosmetics in future updates. Read more about this here.
Emotes:
All types of Emotes now work in Save the World: Dances, Emoticons, Sprays, and Toys. Any emotes you own are available in all modes.
You can slot up to 6 Emotes in the Locker for quick access on the Emote Wheel. Additional Emotes can be accessed by paging the wheel up or down.
You can use Dances and Emoticons in the Lobby.
Everyone who currently has access to play Save the World will keep Ride the Pony, which is now a traversal Emote. You can now use it in Battle Royale and Creative too!
Players who purchase Save the World Founders packs will also receive Ride the Pony.
Everyone keeps Dance Moves as well, as players in all modes start with that Emote.
Missions + Systems[edit]
Introducing: Hit the Road!
Grab three other players and help Quinn get to the Radio Station to spin her Song of the Summer in this road trip adventure.
Quinn travels in a hover-truck, complete with a mobile storm defense shield.
Along the route are four randomized objectives, each with challenging gameplay and a variety of upgrades.
Get to the radio station, and protect Quinn from a final enemy wave. Hopefully you’ve collected enough traps, ammo, and resources to secure the victory!
If the vehicle loses all of its health the road trip ends, but players earn rewards based on the number of objectives completed.
You start the trip without your gear or supplies, making scavenging and harvesting a top priority.
You keep your trap schematics, and start with a few “hand-me-down” weapons, but weapon crafting is disabled.
Weapons with appropriate perks are scattered throughout the route, increasing your chances of survival without your weapon schematics.
Chests in Hit the Road spawn tier-appropriate weapons, traps, and resources.
Unlike previous events, Hit the Road uses Power Levels instead of Storm Shield Defense progress to match players to the correct difficulty, bringing more balance to the group.
If you are knocked out you will have to wait until your team reaches or completes an objective before you will respawn. Be careful out there!
New event quests have also been added to give players a chance to earn even more Hit the Road tickets.
Search everything you can for cassette tapes, helping Lars craft the perfect summer mix tape, and earning some Hit the Road event tickets.
Legendary Troll Stash Event Llama is available
Cost: 1000 Hit the Road Tickets
Llamas now contain Cyberpunk Heroes and Vacuum Tube Weapon Schematics
Mutant Storm Mission Alerts grant Hit the Road Tickets and are more numerous.
Miniboss Mission Alerts no longer grant Event Tickets and are less numerous.
Safe Harbor quest: Reduced Evacuate the Shelter quest requirement from 2 to 1.
Updated the mission rewards for “Eliminate and Collect” and “Resupply”.
Eliminate and Collect now rewards Hero XP and/or Survivor XP.
Resupply now rewards Schematic XP and a random crafting ingredient.
Known issue: Sometimes the crafting ingredient fails to be rewarded if players do not finish enough bonus objectives.
Some Heroes and Schematics from the Birthday Llama for Year 2 used to be locked. They have been updated to allow Recycling and Transformation. Any items that were adjusted will continue to not take up inventory space.
Shadow Ops Heroes, Military Weapons, and Vacuum Tube Weapons have been moved to the Expansion Tab in the Collection Book. These items may now be researched/recruited.
Exploding Deathburst has been replaced with a new modifier: Exploding Death Bomb. When Husky Husks, Sploders, and Riot Huskies are eliminated they leave behind a destructive bomb with a short fuse.
With the changing of the season, event ticket rewards have been removed from Wargames Daily Quests and Wargames Mission Rewards.
Mission Rewards for Wargames are reduced while Daily Wargames Quest rewards are increased:
Stonewood Daily Wargames Quests now reward additional Gold
Plankerton Daily Wargames Quests reward Gold and a choice of Evolution Materials
Canny Valley Daily Wargames Quests reward Gold and RE-PERK!
Twine Peaks Daily Wargames Quests reward Gold and a choice of Epic PERK-UP! or Legendary PERK-UP!
The “Husk Swarm” Wargames Challenge has been removed.
Endurance Rewards are reduced for its early waves, normalizing to their current values as you approach the final wave.
Bug Fixes
Mission Alert Weekly Quests in high-level Twine Peaks now display the correct power requirements for completion.
In the Hexed Wargames simulation, the statues no longer leave shadows behind when they disappear.
Centered the Twine Peaks Storm Shield and Vinderman’s Mansion in-game maps.
UI and Minimap icons for melee weapons have been updated. Each melee weapon type now has its own unique icon.
Bug Fixes
Quickly opening Expedition rewards no longer causes the game to freeze.
Main quest tile is now centered properly when there is no quest map.
Adjusted Boom Bow alignment on the Weapon Wall in the Armory.
Updated grammar for descriptions of Air Strike and its upgrades.
Localization fix for Arabic for the points counter used throughout the front end.
Player names now scroll correctly in the team member UI.
Updated tooltips for Shock Tower and T.E.D.D.Y. to show base damage for the abilities.
Fixed some party notifications interfering with menu navigation when using a controller.
Resolved an issue with health/shields not updating after levelling/evolving a Hero from the Hero Loadout screen.
Fixed controller navigation sometimes not working in the Main Menu while in the front end.
Pick-up icons on the minimap will no longer flip 180 if the player is near and above them.
Cloaked Star returns to the Event Store! Cloaked in mystery, this Mythic Ninja uses throwing stars to quickly take down the Husks.
Team Perk: Round Trip
Throwing Stars return to you, dealing their damage again on the way back.
Requires 2 Ninjas of Legendary or higher rarity.
Abilities
Throwing Stars
Crescent Kick
Smoke Bomb
Standard Perk: Fan of Stars
Throw all Throwing Stars together in an arc. Adds 1 additional star.
Commander Perk: Fan of Stars+
Throw all Throwing Stars together in an arc. Adds 3 additional stars.

R.O.S.I.E. can no longer be placed overlapping a fragment or storm chest.
Hang Time and Leap Attacks no longer incorrectly negate knockback effects.
Fixed issue with Goin’ Constructor shield not always blocking area damage.
Destroying BASE with Supercharged Traps now correctly removes the BASE bonus to those traps.
Resolved an issue with Azalea Clark’s exploding Shock Tower not damaging Husks at high tiers.
Weapons + Items[edit]
Added Vacuum Tube weapons as possible in-world drops.
The Tar Pit trap schematics now take up inventory space and can be recycled.
Bug Fixes
Weapon trails for the Corsair now display properly.
Cleaned up weapon trail timings for basic sword combo attacks.
The Atomic Light Expander’s heavy attack now correctly grants melee elimination credit.
Upgraded Typewriter weapon should now display on the weapon rack in the armory.

Gameplay[edit]
Bug Fixes
Fixed issue with banner gadget permanently coloring structures blue.
Prevent teleporter from being placed inside small objects.
Prevent player from becoming trapped inside Supply Drop.
The current weapon is now reselected properly after using an ability while jumping off the map.
Art + Animation[edit]
Bug Fixes
Lighting when going to the armory or command tab from the Locker or Store tab with shadows disabled now display correctly
Fixed lighting when switching between locker and armory with shadows disabled.
Resolved a bug where movement didn’t interrupt Emotes.
All players’ matchmaking regions have been reset to Auto. You can change your preference in the Options menu.
Moved the FPS indicator to the lower left-hand corner while in the Lobby.
Bug Fixes
Hover tooltips will no longer prevent mouse clicks in the Settings menu.
We discovered that the default Push to Talk (PTT) setting for new console players was “On,” which was unintentional. The default is now “Off,” and we are performing a soft reset of the Push to Talk setting for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch players. This is a one-time reset, and further changes to the setting will persist as normal.
Players who have manually changed their PTT settings in the past have had their PTT reset to “Off,” but they are able to change it back to “On.”
The Recent Players list has been re-enabled on all platforms. Players in your Battle Royale Squad or Save the World Team will be automatically added to this list as you play.
This list automatically clears when you close the game.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue in which a friend invite wasn’t properly being cleared.
Performance[edit]
A new mesh streaming solution has been enabled on Xbox One, Switch, and PC. This brings improved memory usage and streaming performance.
This will be rolled out to other platforms in upcoming releases.
Optimized UI performance to improve in-match framerate.
With Season X, the PC version of Fortnite requires a DirectX 11-capable graphics card to run the game, as mentioned in our blog post.
Implemented ray-traced distance field shadows on Switch.
This improves rendering performance and also provides increased shadow range.
Enabled multi-threaded particle simulation on Switch.
This improves the framerate, especially during skydiving.
Optimized GPU occlusion queries on Xbox One.
This provides a boost to dynamic resolution and performance.
Mobile
iPhone 8 scalability settings have been updated to be more inline with similar devices. Overall performance and stability have been improved.
Known Issues[edit]
A current known issue is that players must first close the game on one platform before they’ll be able to connect to another platform using the same account. This issue will be resolved in the v10.10 update.

found human flesh in the ruins of a burnt house, added it to my diet hahahaha added a human taste to bear meat and chewy snail shells ive earned muh name too now they call me 'Sumner the cannibal' visit that forest at night without jake and crew? NOPE! but ive been avoiding those tempting near by farms and sniping any strays i see sadly its not the same sport as hunting with treachery too easy boredom has set in as ive wiped out the majority of the gators, started wiping out small villages searching for new plague bearing rats but sickened by how weak and soft this land is now, not worth conquerin or even robbin Instead ive been wasting days locked in my house trying and failing to think up "AART nostalgia tour favorites" currently locked in my "meditation room" getting invasion plans from every direction, this village is weak as anything and theres dozens of fat sheep full of bone marrow and blood me on solid ground ahead of a potential alligator attack THEY wont be expecting a thing??!' ^ good news! seems like old charlie has found his purpose again, attacking while theyre eating will obliterate half before they can even react oooooOOOOOoooooo Just jumped to close to the boy and he caught me!!!!!!! my custom ballcutter caught on his armor and now hes furiously shredding it off scraping it along my own underside as--- GAAAH! too late ive been sliced across the eyes NOW what am I gonna do --oops he just slid off trembling waiting to regenerate He was delicious but I was starving back after a regenerative meal, war's been on my mind a lot lately seems everytime mama stomps off in one of her moods now me and pops end up running raids, setting villages alight and raiding conquests for a time gotta say I love being on the attack, bringing fear to other humans never bores me and neither does killing I've certainly had my taste during this long winter guess I've been developing a taste for blood in general too humans are tasty after all no rest for the wicked Where was I? oooh yes Here I am consumed with vile bloodlust and the energy it gives but a quick jot of prose rest the mind and brring clarity Let me tell you all about my dear friend charlie, in fact he was the first one among my recent friends ive not killed or eaten The man gave himself the name "charley horse" Finally managed to settle into a good rhythm with these deranged people and I get the sneaking suspicion charley horse was involved in getting humans to raid my homeland! really rubs me the wrong way Why has he not been killed yet?? hes never done anithing right! Ahem sorry one moment regenerating like nobodies business OOoooooh that feels better!! where were we? oh yes charley horse Pretty sure he's been sabotaging my every effort to fit in with the rest of the humans, those raiders were bad enough but to think he's been actively getting them to target home makes my scales itch I assume hes been organizing these raids from the south up near new aggressor territory so thats where Ive headed Finally caught up to him, and ambushed his band of ambitious little opportunists only to watch him escape Those humans were all loaded down with fur and hide armor so Im guessing charley has been organizing things with the bears as wel guess I'll have to get rid of him This act of kindness is gonna hurt him more than a little bat to the head since Ive had enough of his traitorous actions surprise surprise the raiders are organizing up there and have been recruiting humans from all the way down south, (even near the ruins of DC) those wackos seem to pop up everywhere don't they? Oh and charley horse is organizing things with them !!!! The little turncoat definitely has to die Ive had just about enough of his act I'm gonna need to get in deep and hasta muerte* That was interesting, ive been trying to get in good with the bear brutas for weeks now and I finally managed it by getting captured by a bunch of destroyer robots and had my mind probed and my body royally mangled! I hate robots! But in the end I got accepted like I wanted :) the bear brutas are pretty good folks once you get past their gruff exterior theyre kinda just like us scaly folk even if their primarily carniverous shhh! im supposed to be hiding by pretending to be one of them :) One of the girls just came around, ooooooh shes cute!! Gotta remember to keep an eye on charley horse *Hasta muerte means "until death" in spanish Comment too long Click here to view the full text Seeing alot of robots lately, makes me miss the old world and the old ways before all this new technology showed up, I almost long for the unified church inquisitors to hammer on my door again tough not nearly as tough as the old coalition or Enclave hunts Ive actually managed to become friends with a guy named Zero and his gang of repurposed robot killclowns, funny bunch of guys that love to joke around but they mean business when it counts Done a couple of jobs with them actually, never followed carly's rule of just sticking to one weapon and ive found its been quite helpful having access to an entire armory! I think in this crazy new world theres nothing better than a huge pile of weapons to pick from Keep coming across these fur clothes wearing tribals too, they actually seem to revere charley horse as some sort of deity or greatest warrior or something Theres more to him than meets the eye, good thing ive been getting on his good side :) The wish i could find out more about him but he just vanishes for days at a time some odd instinct tells me its best not to ask questions Its funny how im not the only one keeping a watch out for him its like all of us scaly types have this mutual understanding, hes the man but none of us want him to get too big for his boots, also because we all have our own agendas and jobs to do Just like old times back in the coalition! And now ive finally made my move just like old times! I cant even believe ive pulled it off either, took a while to set up and almost got caught a couple times but it all payed off! Was actually stupidly easy if i do say so myself!

Health insurance for low income college student?
I was just wondering if anyone had some suggestions for reasonably priced health insurance in Minnesota. What if 21st Century Insurance considers my car totaled?
Ok...My car was parked at my work which is privately owned. An ex employee who was inebriated, backed into the driver's side quarter panel. Now, my car has a HUGE dent and it won't lock. I left it at the body shop and the adjuster told me it might be considered totaled. My car was in immaculate condition, mechanically, as well as cosmetically. In addition, my car has less then 93,000 miles on it. What should I expect? I am a student and I rely on this vehicle for my only means of transport. How do health insurance deductibles work?
I'm looking at individual health insurance plans. All of them say they have a deductable of $500 - $5000. I'm reading the plan overview and it's explaining what the plan covers. It says prescriptions are covered after deductible, office visits are covered after deductible, and so on. Does this mean if a plan has a $5000 deductible that the health insurance company will not cover anything until after I've paid $5000 out of pocket on healthcare? Does that mean that if I had to go to the emergency room i'd have to pay for it myself until I've paid up to $5000? I'm really confused. I want to get temporary health coverage, but I don't see what the point is if I'm going to have to pay out of pocket anyways. Does anyone know how this deductible stuff works? I'd appreciate the help. Thanks""

Will car insurance be cheaper if I drive my mum's car?
I'm learning to drive, but my mum won't allow me to practice in her Fiat 500 or drive it once I've passed the test. This means I can either buy myself a car or drive my Dad's car, which is a much larger Jeep. I don't particularly want to drive it though because its an automatic whereas I'm learning manual (I know automatic is easier, but as a new driver I won't be able to practice for the test and I'm worried I might forget manual if I drive it for too long) and I imagine insurance is likely to be higher. I was wondering, which of these options are likely to work out cheapest? Is it worth trying to persuade my mum to let me drive her car?""

Teenage car insurance?
i have a question i'm planning to get a car soon and im 17. Most likly im getting a new car i don't know the exact car yet. I wana know with my age and a new car how much do you think my insurance average will be. The car is gonna be financed under my dads name so im gonna have to get full coverage insurance so i wanted to get an idea on how much it would be for me.
Can you have 2 different cars with different insurance?
my grandma bout a car for me, im only 15 so shes gonna give me the car when i turn 16 which is in january. she went down to L.a ( we live in california by the way) to buy the car with her nephew in law. shes 62 and half blind and doesnt have a license so she had to put the car in his name. but SHE paid for it. i told my mom and she was like if she wants to put the car in my her name she can. cuz me and my mom both know that her nephew in law could call up the police and say she stole his car, cuz the car is legally in his name and so is the insurance. and this man is very very crooked, he doesnt have a job and even steals money from his wife. he tried multiple times to steal the car so my grandma locks it in the garage. she even offered for him to buy the car off her for 300 dollars when she paid 1600 dollars but he wanted the car for free. now he is a...stupid man and he does not yet realize that he could call the cops and get the car easily so im trying to get this done as soon as possible. he aint paying for nothing on that car. im not worried that this man taking the car means i wont get a car. im worried that he might cheat my grandma, and that just doesnt site with me. he seems to catch and attitude with her when im not around but when im their i dont here no problems. so can i my mom get the car in her name with two different insurance providers and can the insurance still be in his name but the car in my moms name. and what if he refuses to sign it over can we still get the car. im sorry i had to air out my dirty laundry but i needed to release this anger""

17 year old male car insurance?
I am due to take my practical driving test in the near future and have been doing some research, hopefully (fingers crossed) i pass my test and all goes well there and i obtain my full uk license, but on websites like gocompare etc i pretended i had passed my test already to see what the quotes would be like, so i used a 1995 clapped out renault clio (1.2) and used my dads details as the proposer including his maximum amount of No Claims Bonuses with me as the 1 extra named driver, and it came up as 3500+!!!!!! so i took me out and it would only cost my dad 200 a year, and plenty of my friends drive around in flashy cars on their parents policies so they say, i mean how the f*** does anybody afford to insure anything?! Im just wandering if there is any point now because it seems a waste of money if i wont have a car. Many thanks for your answers :)""

My license was suspended and I want to buy a new car. Will my insurance company still let me keep my policy?
I have had my license suspended due to accumulating 12 pts on my driving record (maryland). I did however get permission to drive to work. I have been planning to buy a new car now and I really don't want this to prevent that. However, my insurance rates haven't gone up due to the suspended license atleast yet. If I buy a new car, other than the type of coverage, will my insurance go up because of the suspended license or will that even still keep me on the policy. Any help will be great.""

Will the healthcare reform change the age limit on children on parents insurance?

What is the average insurance cost for a 2012 Chevy Cruze?
I will be turning 21 in June. No tickets or accidents on my record. What would the average monthly payment be for insurance?
Where can I find drivers programs that will help me lower my car insurance rates?
I am a high risk driver. I am 20 years old, and would really like to lower my monthly payments. Could you please tell me of any programs in Kansas or national programs that I could participate in that would lower my insurance? BTW, idk if it matters but i get my insurance thru dairyland.

B.R.U.T.E. Few suits make you feel as powerful as a mech suit does. In this two-person vehicle, players can control its movement while their partner controls its firepower. Those feeling extra adventurous can operate it solo by switching between moving and shooting!
Rift Zones The Zero Point Explosion has made the island volatile! Locations once thought to be lost are beginning to appear, but they aren’t the same as they once were… Drop in and explore to discover what mysterious gameplay changes they have in store.
Weapons + Items
Gameplay
Events
Arena Game Mode updates!
Season kicks off with Solos and Trios Arena.
Hype will be reset at the start of Season X, with a new scoring structure in place.

Matchmaking in Arena is still based on players with similar Hype. Players in higher divisions may experience longer-than-normal wait times to ensure higher-quality matches.
Performance
Improved level streaming performance for all platforms by optimizing the way assets are preloaded. This reduces cases in which players land on buildings with a low level of detail, particularly on Switch and Xbox One.
Art + Animation
The Ride the Pony Emote is now a traversal Emote.
Players who earned the Ride the Pony Emote from the Season 2 Battle Pass have been given a new, additional traversal Emote: Pony Up!

Replay
A new camera mode, Battle Map, has been added to server replays. This camera mode shows:
A path of where the followed player has been during the match.
The locations of the eliminations the followed player has done during the match.
Mobile
Auto-fire system improvements:
We’ve re-tuned Auto-fire for every weapon with this update and would love specific and detailed weapon feedback so that we can continue to improve it.
Players would unintentionally return to the Home screen due to this setting being active.
We’ve increased the size of buttons and icons in the following areas:
The Frontend Lobby tab buttons.
The Crown for Party leader display icon.
The Map Marker.
“First team to reach the elimination goal wins!” message won’t remain throughout the whole match in Team Rumble.

The Settings Menu will properly display when language is set to Spanish.
The text on the menu buttons in the Settings Menu is aligned.
Quick Heal button won’t appear when falling or after opening the map.

Jump button won’t remain greyed out after players press it.
Audio improvements.

Player won’t be able to edit through structures.
Ex: Looking at your wall and being able to edit another structure (floor, ramp, roof).
