WOY HUMAN AU!!

It's basically all the same, except the main cast is Human Adjacent (the watchdogs are Fauns, zbornaks are like centaurs) Wander and Hater are the only real humans. Hater has his evil magics, so he's only a little bit human and A Lot something else, Wander is fully human and he's the only kind in the whole Galaxy.

The main story divergence, outside of the minor changes so that the characters work w their new forms, takes place After season 3. It's also Mostly abt Commander Peepers & the Watchdogs. It's also less abt them being different shapes and more what I think a new, angsty season 3 could b abt

Dominator is Gone, for now, so there's a race with all the Galaxy's villains to fill the void left in her wake. After breaking up a few dogfights, Hater and Wander convince the other villains to team up to help clean the Galaxy instead. Hater and Wander grow closer and closer, as Hater begins to find that he actually LIKES to help people.

SO, with all the main villains mostly good, and Hater on the way to complete Good Guy Reform, we need another, NEW big bad to fill up the antagonist role.

Commander Peepers.

At first he's fine, helping them clean the Galaxy. It's a nice break from all the horror and what-not from Dominator almost destroying them all. He's content enough. It can't last forever though, and he's eager to get back into the planet conquering game, especially now that the planets are all new and uncharted! The one problem? Whenever he tells Lord Hater, Hater brushes him off. At first he assumes Hater is still tired. That's fine, Peepers tells himself.

Things begin to add up though.

Hater begins to spend less and less time on the Skullship; time he's spending hanging out with that Wandering Weirdo. Peepers pretends like he doesn't notice how Hater comes home late at night with flower crowns tucked into his pockets or the scent of campfire on his cloak, but after getting blown off repeatedly he can only hold out for so long.

Peepers blows up at Hater one night. It's a lot of pent up aggression on both sides. Hater is upset that Peepers is so un-accepting. Peepers though has been Betrayed, by his longest and best friend, his Leader, and he's Pissed. He begins to realize that it mustve been Hater who has been holding him back this whole time. That the Hater Empire- no, the Watchdog Empire- would have been able to have conquered the whole system, the whole Galaxy by now, if only Peepers let go of the one person holding him back.

He kicks Hater out of the Skullship during the fight. Hater didn't care about the Watchdogs, didn't understand them, not in the way Peepers did, and it was easy to command his army to get rid of Hater. They leave him stranded on a planet, and Peepers flies to the other side of the Galaxy, as far from Hater as possible.

For a while, probably a good few months, a year perhaps, it's Lord Peepers and the Watchdogs conquering planets upon planets. Without Hater, Peepers is competent, aggressive, and merciless. They find Westley somewhere along the way, and Peepers, furious that Westley did the same thing as Hater, locks him up in the dungeons for a while before re-employing him once they begin to get low on man-power.

Westley and Andy team up to call out to Wander for help. With Peepers in charge, and as angry as he is, life as a Watchdog is painful and exhausting. They send out signals occasionally, that can be traced to the location of the Skullship. Eventually Wander finds a phone and is able to contact Westley, and they work to cross paths.

Meanwhile, Peepers gets madder and madder. He can't get over what happened with Wander and Hater, and in his rage he grows more and more sporadic and cruel. He tears things apart and breaks things constantly in fits of rage. He's building a plan in his room, to get revenge on all who he feels wronged him.

Westley works as a spy, making Peepers "open up" by being the only one who pays attention to his mad rants and sitting with Peepers when he's tired enough to explain his plans. Westley relays all that to Sylvia, Wander, and Hater, who are doing their best to help those on conquered planets all while staying Under the Radar.

One day, though, they slip up. Wander can't resist helping someone or Hater gets into a fight with one of the Watchdogs left to keep order on the planet. Either way, Peepers begins tracking them. The typical shenanigans ensue, Wander and co sneaking onto the Skullship, bothering Peepers, running away.

It all makes Peepers Furious, though. One time he overhears Wander and the rebel Watchdogs conspiring against him, and that's the final straw for him. He pretends he doesn't know that most of the Watchdogs are planning to turn against him and continues with his invasion as usual. This time, however, he follows the Watchdogs. Typically he just drops off a few and leaves. This time, however, he's tailing them the whole time, walking easy and measured. He hasn't seen the sun in a while, and it takes a moment for him to adjust.

The rebellion is surprised, but Wander, Hater, and Sylvia stand their ground. Peepers walks up to them, and Wander steps forward, much to the chagrin of his friends. Peepers is covered in medals and hidden weapons, it's extremely dangerous to get too close. Wander waved them off though. They stand and talk, or Wander talks at Peepers, and Peepers stands still enough for Wander to let his guard down and get close.

Peepers LUNGES. He doesn't even bother to take out a hidden knife, his claws are enough. He punches Wander, pushes him into the ground. Peepers is smiling, manically, and raises his hand for the final strike- there's a crackle of energy, and Peepers flies back, away from Wander.

Hater had shot at him. Peepers coughs, reaches towards his very burnt chest. He really didn't expect that to happen, but he gathers his resolve. Peepers takes a moment to stand, lets Hater's final betrayal sink in. The crowd is hushed, watching him struggle to stand. Peepers manages, gets up, turns stiffly. He begins to walk back on shaky legs. Peepers gets a few steps, then promptly collapses.

From there, the Watchdogs take over. Westley orders them to take Peepers in, getting him immediate care. Wander and Sylvia and Hater begin living on the ship for a while, waiting for Peepers to wake up again. After he does, Hater and Peepers begin to work on fixing their relationship (very VERY slowly, Peepers is really mad for a While). Wander and Peepers talk together, too, and Wander helps him with Physical Therapy. Eventually they all make up and fix the planets Peepers conquered, but it takes a While.

That's all I got for now, and obviously less detail than usual (sleepy dead brain). There's a lot of small stuff w Watchdogs too, giving them more personality and interactions, but I don't feel like writing it all soooo

It’s this time of the year again, folks. Time to wrap up the art Ive made in the last 12 months in another Year in Review! I’ve noticed that this is my fifth Year in Review in a row, so I’ll be making an extra post looking back on the progress in those last 5 years!

I've got a lot to say about this year, but purely art wise, I've gone all when it comes to comics, damn! I've kinda found a format that is messy, and therefore more time efficient, yet still looks good. I even made 2 animatics and lotsa shorts/reels! All that on top of opening coms twice, and, oh yeah, MAKING A WHOLE ASS 4MIN ANIMATION ON MY OWN.

How is my hand still alive.

2023 has been….interesting, to say the least. The first half year I was working on my thesis project, aka making an animated short all on my own (in the art department), which makes it honestly surprising how much I managed to churn out between animating. Trigun rly did have me in a choke hold.

Summer was a bit more spotty, esp. with me not being able to draw anything during August as I was writing my thesis (and doing commissions). And towards the end of the year, Kingdom Hearts tried to save me, but alas, Genshin Impact has finally sunk its teeth into me and dragged me to the bottom of the rabbit hole. It all started with me watching a story summary and lore videos while I was sick after my thesis and I was too intrigued to not dig deeper and well, first I fell in love with Kaeya and then the ships started dropping in left and right.

I’m not gonna lie, the last few months have been weird. I finished my masters in October, and have been on job hunt since, sadly without success so far. I’m existing in this weird limbo of still not grasping I’m not a student anymore after 18 years in education, not really being able to accept I’m an adult, yet desperately trying to find something so I can make a routine, cos rn Im too scared to build a rhythm as I know I’ll have a so much harder time readjusting again. It’s left me in a weird emotional state, where most of the time I feel fine, but when it counts, there’s just, nothing. No joy at getting my diploma, no anticipation to finally go to a convention again, neither any sadness hearing my grandfather died. It frustrates me that it extends to my art as well, there’s excitement over ideas and concepts, but no motivation to pick up the pencil, which makes me either not finish art at all or making so many shortcuts and just ending up with sth not satisfactory to me since it’s not the idea I sought after.

Tho, not everything is doom and gloom. I DID finish a whole ass short animation and got my masters degree, that IS sth to be proud of. Also, while Im struggling at drawing, I’ve also kinda started integrating my shortcuts into my style and some stuff I’ve thrown together actually turns out real good nowadays. Also, and this might be a bit of a weird one, I’m so fucking happy to know I can still enjoy gay ships. I’ve been a bit uncertain over the last few years because when I was around 16-18, I had a real big yaoi phase, which mostly came from the fact so much stuff came out that tickled my brain in the right way (Free, Haikyuu, etc.). But over the years, my enthusiasm died down, and I even started to resent some ships because it’s all some fandoms produced. I often found myself liking a hetero ship more than the popular gay ship, which really made me not wanna stick around because I did not care for most fanart and you can only go through a tag with art you don’t care about so long before you lose interest. I think in retrospect that it rly had nothing to do with the ships being gay ships but rather cos the fans just shoved it in your face when you didn’t care (and shipping culture nowadays also can get real scary). But I’m so happy to see I can still get obsessed with a ship and it’s all thanks to Haikaveh/Kavetham. It really just needed the right flavour for me to dig in again. And oh my god, I FINALLY like a ship with a SHIT TON of art and fanfictions, no more scrounging the crumbs from the bottom of the barrel. 

Anyways, enough lamenting. Here’s to hoping I can bite my tongue and get shit started properly in 2024, and that my brainrots may make me obsessed enough to churn out an obscene amount of fanart again.

Blessed be the fibro gods that allowed my hands to work today! (My legs though, they do not)

More of the fam! I haven't decided if I wanna make the bad guys a Polycule or just a big group of brothers, tho I'm leaning more towards Polycule (ignore that I wrote that they're K's brothers lol)

Ink loves his "big boy" training that the guys do with him (they're gonna make sure this kid can beat the shit out of someone if needed)

Ive kinda sorted out the first two boys of the group, Rust (Horror) and K (Killer) are just two fluffy "uncles" for Ink that will babysit Against His Parents Wishes sometimes (by that, I mean they'll basically be like "no, you guys need a break or you're gonna collapse, go take a couple days to nap and have fun, we've got the kid")

I think Dust is gonna be more absent than the other two, but not for lack of loving Ink, he just struggles to accept having a little kid around him again, or that he deserves that kind of unwavering love and trust (he raised paps from a babybones, here). He'll come around, for now he sneaks out of his room to drop off presents and scurries off like a rat if he's spotted.

Killer has been stable for a few years before Ink came around, as Dream and Nightmare work together to make a type of medicine for him to take to keep his emotions regulated. (I thought Special K was hilarious personally, and so did Thei when he realised the possibilities)

Horror is just fluffy horror boy, a big ole guy (like, Bara Sans size, he's a hunk o bone) that will keep ink on his shoulders while he cooks. He finds random clothes with blue in them that match nothing else he wears because he knows Ink likes matching with him (the blues are never the same, as this man is so blind it's not even funny but won't wear glasses)

The boys definitely have nostalgia binges watching shows with Ink (they both sob at Bluey secretely, Dust can't even try to watch it though, it's too emotional for him).

Night is a stable boi, as shown a bit in older posts, he and Dream are the same amount of fucked up, but Dreams just doesn't show physically. His magic is so strong that he can't even use it for fear of it getting out of hand, though. NM looks the same as canon but he wears his circlet, wearing the circlets keep him and Dream nice and warless. Helps that they get along fairly well after a very long and very brutal conversation that I'm tempted to write or maybe even draw. My mind is brimming with ideas for animatics and comics and fics and such and I have no time sjnjfnfksg (cmon brain, we work full time and have college full time we have no chance right now,,)

i wouldve got this post out sooner if the art arted better but well . SIGH . i also realized i accidentally kind of made him colored like fucking steve from minecraft and now im . i make bad decisions .

anyways ! heres a thing for whoevers still reading; design choices ! because i actually think sometimes ! woo !

i have all the uh , color pallet stuff (???) of the characters saved and i try to use as much as the colors on those as possible because (1. its a pretty cool challenge , and (2. iiii am horrendous with coming up with my own pallets !! ahaha ! for roman i had it in my heart and in my soul ( for some reason ) that he has wavy/fluffy brown hair . i added the highlight things because . uh . colors . and it looks cool . AND WHY NOT :D i put him in a very simple outfit because he is a prisoner ( /j ) and the gloves are for coolness points and because of ✨THE LAB✨ . safety and all that jazz wAIT I SHOULDVE GIVEN HIM GOGGLES GODAMMIT- ahem , anyways the side doodle is just yknow regular evil time travel bull . i think thats it . i probably wouldve done more if not for my brain being half turned off and the fact ive been procrastinating on this ever since i finished cyril .

i also want to mention how badly i want to make an animatic of the time travel experiment log video . but hell knows id never be able to finish that if i tried .

CURIOUS- What is your process when making your animatics? And what do you use your individual programs for most? (Ei: csp for art and moment / vegas for effects or somn)

Also, I recently got csp ex for animatic/animation stuff myself- You have any tips for how to make big projects alike yer animatics/tions ?

SO. umm. if im being good and professional i'll do the smart thing and do thumbnails for my animatics to outline the gist of what i want. but uhh if im being honest i only did that for lavender town of which you can watch the wip of here! (for some reason i also animated a little bit within these thumbnails which you shouldnt really do but whatever)

but for the rest of my animatics ive thumbnailed in my brain which is very bad and i advise against it. bc i can remember a few times in toba the tura, my heart still beats and mama where im just sitting there like. uhh. what next HAHA so its just good to draw out smthn beforehand or plan ahead even if its messy!!! my only saving grace is how fast i am at drawing so im able to make up for this LMAOO dont be like me for each of my animatics i make one Big csp file (and a backup) which stores all the frames for that animatic (its usually just titled "a" or smthn i am very uncreative) these bitches get huge. So many layers. theres around 600 layers for lavender town alone. if i were smarter id split these files up so it didnt take ages to load and save but alas i am not. But this is where i do my frame by frame animation basically, i just lower the opacity of a frame and draw over it (onion skinning is the term for this iirc), usually i draw key frames of movement and then just inbetween them so they look a little smoother (e.g: a head turning to the side, id draw the back and then the side profile, and then draw the inbetweens of that motion) , im fond of the choppy lower fps look so thats what i go for! i definitely do not set out for super ultra smooth animation or id be collapsed on the floor rn i think as for editing with sony vegas pro, i import all the frames from csp and use "track motion" and "pan/crop" to tween stuff! (like... make it go from left to right, move the camera around yknow) which is a huge crutch for me Especially in toba the tura, i did very little frame by frame animation for that one LMAOO (not shitting on tweening u can do some really fuckin fun shit with it, like that shot of pk stabbing the lance sentry in toba the tura) i do overall prefer the look of frame by frame but i use a hybrid of the two!! theyre both super cool, complicated and fun in their own ways tbh.

heres some extra stuff, the fucked up looking timeline of my mama animatic and a look at some of the raw frames (hair lego pieces)

funniest part of my Animation process is wanting the hair and body to be paced differently so i have to slot the hair in like its a fuckin lego piece on a different layer. this truly was the hell of the mama animatic. theres also just an entire layer dedicated to mouths for lip syncing. very funny anyways thats about it, i hope this has been enlightening!! if you have any like super specific specific questions feel free to dm me! i dont have too much experience animating using an art program's animation features specifically tho, so i can't speak to those! i compile and pace all the frames on a timeline in sony vegas pro basically so csp is just for drawing each frame out for me!

ok one last post about the Project to truly exorcise it from my brain. just some process/design thoughts (also now that it's done if you want to read my liveblogged whinging for whatever reason here it is)

first off some stats because i kept stats like the nerd that i am:

time wise making this animatic took about 93.5 hours give or take (thanks procreate process replay) spread across exactly 2 months

anyway when i said i finished this project mostly through stubbornness and sunk cost fallacy this is what i meant lol like a lot of my thought process through this was just 'no way in hell am i letting some of these drawings disappear into my drafts forever'

on average each frame took about 2 hours 45 minutes but thats a bit of an overestimate since i forgot to count some of the animated bits from the first two lines (so id guess the actual number is more like.. 2 hours 20 minutes?)

btw that line with the starry apparition fading away? 12 hours total

the single longest and most painful frame to draw was the one of the crew walking through tu'narath (5 hours 30 minutes) because a. perspective b. architecture design c. for some reason i put a lot of detail into rendering the armour on all the githyanki i drew why on earth did i do that

(its especially painful bc that frame was one of the ones that didnt... feel like an important enough moment in the actual story of the show to be worth capturing the way the wish or even like, endellion is, i just needed to put that there for the storytelling flow or whatever of the animatic itself and it bothered me so much)

one other interesting little mishap was that i did all of these on canvas size 1080x720px (so that's why the youtube resolution isnt particularly high lmao) which is why procreate let me put an absolutely absurd amount of layers in one canvas (all 8 frames of with memories projected on the astral sea were done on one canvas. 159 layers) because the layer limit for that canvas size is 400 BUT. i accidentally started the starry apparition fade on an A4 canvas (my default canvas size for like all my normal fanart) and i only realised after finishing all the lineart and starting on colouring because i hit layer limit so i had to resize the canvas which did... interesting?? things to the lineart resolution

also if youre wondering how i drew K-LB that many times in something resembling timely fashion the answer is i sacrificed some... amount of sleep to 3d model and rig him in blender which. honestly? i consider it a roaring success

splitting the frames by bar was a Choice and certainly a choice ive.. had doubtsTM about but thats the kind of thing you cant really change without bringing the whole project crashing down so if the frames seem to move a bit too fast im so sorry there was really not much i could do there

idk if people actually noticed the very very tiny drawings of the crew moving around on the ship in the 4th line especially since they sometimes get obscured by the subtitles but the REASON for that is in my original drawings the subtitles went in the top left corner but they kept conflicting with other stuff so i just gave up and threw them to the bottom (also i originally included the chinese lyrics but then i got lazy lmao)

anyway that little detail like VR-LA angstily looking at the sea reminiscing about the JourneyTM and the crew sort of appearing along with the memories of their adventures together was one of those things that seemed SO COOL in my head but once i actually execute it its like. hmmmm not sure if that worked out the way you thought it would buddy. also the tiny crew was EXTREMELY hard to draw so put that down as another point in 'me subjecting myself to deeply painful and out there compositions for no good reason'

anyway i called this my magnum opus but i do actually have some thoughts about another one (a companion piece, if you will) for another song by the same band because now that i know what capcut can do im.. really itching to try something a little different because this like powerpoint presentation style? fully a product of me using iMovie as my only available video editing software for the past like 7 years of my life

Hii lookie! Even though I only made like 4 fully rendered pieces this year, I'm happy with what I've done this year!

(For months where I dont't have fully rendered finished pieces I put in the next closest thing I have that month.)

Ramble under the cut where I try to go over each month

General overview:

Funny thing I've noticed is how often I used cool tones this year bc my older art (that ive never shown from like 2 years ago) was characterized by warm tones

Even though I work through fully rendered pieces super slowly and barely come out of the year with any, I'm super proud of my progress this year! I've learnt and grown a lot as an artist and have also realized my potential. With that though also comes my fear of not being able to top what I've done, which I'm trying to work on! My issue is I tend to produce a lot of art when feeling highly inspired by a media, and right now I don't exactly feel the same kind of spontaneous and passionate inspiration as I did during the year. I'm definitely dealing with some sort of mental block right now when it comes to digital art and I'm hoping to get through that soon because I miss the process of making something I love through drawing!!

January:

honestly thought the boatem piece was done last year so I was surprised to find it in my January files! This piece was kind of a turning point for my art as it was my first more complex pieces (i had not previously done a piece w more than 1 character in it really). It was a lot of work and I was very nervous about it but I'm quite proud of what I was able to do!

Late january is also when i started sketching out the ethubs piece actually (i work slow)!

February:

I didn't actually do a ton of art this month, as I tend to take a break and slow down right after finishing a piece. At this point I was very keen on doing pose studies traditionally. I posted some of these and most of them were desert duo.

This month i started to really figure out my dnd character Ethe's main design as our campaign was starting. So, i did a portrait of her for that. The rest of February was working on ethubs and studying how to paint grass and clouds and just sketching here and there. I think desert duo brain rot was strongest this month

March:

March was also a mix of pose studies and random sketches and FINALLY FINISHING ETHUBS. I was also doing some art for dnd ^_^

April:

I finished the dragonborn npc centered dnd piece this month, and also began sketching out the cleo piece. In between working on cleo I did some joe art including an animatic featuring the wordle boarder and the sketch for biblically accurate joe :D

May:

Pretty much anytime i had procreate open in may I was working on Cleo. This is the most ambitious art project I have taken on and I wasn't sure if I was able to make it how I wanted, so I was kind of slow and on and off with it. I ended up putting it down towards the end of the month and did some more personal illustrations

June:

Big month for my dnd blorbos tbh! I introduced a sister for Ethe and was working on her design and their interactions. I also got a bigger sketchbook this month and did a bunch of traditional studies. I finished the flats for cleo this month and took a break so most of the art I did were sketches

July:

I was in the home stretch for cleo and with the help of my friends telling me to finish it i finally pushed through and finished it. I couldnt be happier w the results!! it's one of my proudest pieces this year and I put in so much work for it. But after I finished it i took a huge break from mcyt art and focused on dnd art yet again.

August:

My work for the multidimensional big bang started this month!! I worked out the character design early august and had a sketch for the full piece by the end of the month. In the meantime I was actually working on a cat painting I never posted... maybe I'll post it in an end of year art dump

September:

This month was all about the big bang piece. I had so much fun doing it and am super proud of the finished product. Im especially happy with the composition and inclusion of the background characters!!

October:

Again. Major break from making full pieces after finishing a huge one last month. I think I spent more of my creative energy elsewhere like my writing. Also school started again and I had moved apartments and there was a lot of irl stuff preventing me from drawing. I did try to do traditional studies if I could

November:

Kind of a dead month for drawing. Super busy w school, chugging my way through Ethe's ref sheet i started months ago.

December:

Literally haven't drawn anything new besides a new years illustration for greeting cards. I picked up crocheting again and have been spending a lot of creative energy on that instead, but to keep my drawing going I've been doing more figure studies in my sketch book i guess!

15. a character/story arc that bores me to tears ive said this a few times i think LOL but fucking. the beauties and the beasts in mgs4. i just. they were so much they looped back around to being boring as hell. esp with the extended backstories you'd get after defeating them. it was just too much i zoned out every time.

20. fics/fanart I’d love to see i try to write or draw the things i want to see but man. theres just some things these hands cannot yet execute. i have an idea for a terribly sad otasune animatic to the tango version of the love theme that would rip out everyones hearts ^_^

i have an idea for an ok ko animatic that i rly want to do but idk if itd be worth it because

a) all my animatics so far have been memes and the longest one ive done was 15 secs long. the idea i have would probably be at least a full minute and def more serious so itd take a while

Longish artist/writer rant/vent aimed at my ADHD under the cut bc I needed to get this off my chest-

Rip to every idea I have that my brain demands I make a reality when in the past year I've maybe managed to doodle something at least once a week and maybe managed write something to posting levels of completion once every full moon

Like. If I had it my way I would have whole chapter updates for at least three different major fics each week, and it would rotate between nine major fics each week at least, and be posting one-shots for random one off ideas whenever they came to me.

I spend so much time thinking up of tons of au ideas because i genuinely enjoy them and doing it, and it hurts so much that I am unable to keep up with my creativity no matter how much I want to. Im well aware of burn out, and thr fact that that kind of schedule is pretty unattainable and would result in burn out, but like.

If I could just pick up a fic/chapter that Ive planned out(because ive got a list, and tons of different notes for ideas I want to create but just can't manage to slow down enough to keep focusing on it) and once a week write even just a paragraph, heck, a sentence, or finish a small silly art piece or a doodle, I'd be doing better than I am right now.

This frustration isnt even born from the aspect of 'gotta keep creating content for approval' thing that it usually is, either.

Its a genuine frustration born from the inability to just get my stupidly scattered brain back together. Creating these things, writing them out, drawing them out, I have so many ideas that I want to explore even just for myself to enjoy!

Im pretty sure my brain wouldn't give me countless au prompts, fic ideas, drawing plans, and animatic ideas rent-free every week if I didnt genuinely enjoy exploring it.

I know that I'm not gonna get to explore every idea, but the fact that I have a good number started already that still cling happily to my brain even if its been literal months or even a year since I've posted about them, the fact that they and so many others are so present in my brain and let me get as far and writing the ideas down or getting to the sketch phase, and then whatever it is in my brain that kept nagging me to writing out for the happy chemicals and excitement of sharing it as well as just having physical existance and evidence of an idea that I worked hard on, something that I'm proud of and just.

Like a whisp ungraspable of smoke, that energy or motivation is gone?

And even tho its gone my brain is still screaming at me to continue it, we still want to work on it, we still have so much left undone, we cant stop now! But we cant.

Its like opening a door long enough to feel the breeze or wave at a dog passing by, but trying to open the door all the way to follow and explore only triggers the door to shut tight.

Its like trying to figure out how to get to the other side of a very tall wall. We know that we cant reach the other side of the wall, we have in the past, but sometimes it only makes it grow higher. We know how to do it, to get through the wall, but we know that it takes time and effort and a very specific amount of work to break down the wall, and we know that trying to do tedious tasks that are boring to our brain like that simply creates another wall. Sometimes we're lucky, and we can climb the wall with a burst of energy and ride that energy for all its worth to get to the other side, but then it leaves us exhausted, and climbing the wall will not be an option again for a time.

Its a frustration born from the fact that I know whats wrong with my brain, I do, Ive spent so much of my life with adhd, depression, and anxiety, I've had to learn whats wrong because thats the only way to know how to tackle the issues that they bring.

Its the frustration that despite knowing whats wrong, I still cant make myself face the wall like I know I should. Knowing about it doesnt stop the issue, using effort to adress it does.

And that's where I am. Stuck inside our head, with a creativity in constant flux, and more often than not inability to pick up a pencil to draw, or pull up a keyboard and write. Staring at the wall in our head with the familiarity of being lifelong acquaintances.

so like. tw suicide but thats what the entire song is about and bing bang boom i just think it works so so so so so so so well with not only exile tommy (who obviously did try to kill himself) but also wilbur in a slightly more metaphorical way? so like. his self destructive habits leading him to a point where he had no choice other than to kill himself and to take his country down with him. and its all about other characters trying to help them and persuade them not to but also near the end there is a second voice trying to persuade them to go along with it, which im thinking like. if its wilbur, either dream or maybe just himself. his own brain persuading him to continue down the path that would inevitably lead to his and his countries destruction. also it works well with schlatt for the same reasons, except he doesnt want to die. maybe (since the song is so goddamn long) like. one verse for tommy one for wilbur and one for schlatt? dead gang poggg but also like. the verses cover fairly different things which work with one character but not so much the others, for example the first verse would be tommy because its mainly about persuading the person to not kill themself (which tommy did himself but shhh) the second for schlatt because its literally about drinking and smoking away your problems, and the third for wilbur since its more of a fight between the "good" and the "bad" sides, which is obviously what wilbur was experiencing. also obviously i have a soft spot for this song because its string instruments and french, basically my favourite combination ever (also i like his voice idfk lmao)

Well, ive noticed that im at my most productive during october for inktober and december for the 12 days of christmas. I think when my brain is given a bit of structure and a deadline it starts to kick into gear. So ive decided to create an art challenge for every month of the year and see if i can stick to it. And im putting this out there incase any of my more artsy followers might want to do it themselves or pick out one months challenge that sounds fun to try. If yous do try i would love to see them, might help to motivate and inspire me.

Jot a world January

Basically come up with a concept for a world and/or its inhabitants. That might be creating a Tolkienesque map of the world, it could be writing a short story about it or even a bunch of notes in an ideas book. Maybe its illustrating an index of the characters or creatures in your world, or painting some of the landscapes. Either way it has to be a cohesive world. Minimum 6xA5 fully rendered pages. Or 2xA3 fully rendered or 1xA2 fully rendered. Or one small A5 sketchbook of sketches, story or notes.

Fic pic febuary

This isnt just fanart, oh no... this is fanart of fanfiction. Maybe its doing an animatic or comic strip of a scene or two of one of your favoirite fics. Maybe its drawing a couple of stills from a go to fic. Cant choose? Then do one still for number of different fics. You like big art? Then make one big peice! Minimum 6xA5, or 4xA4 or 2xA3, or1xA2/digital equivalent.

Multimedia march

Well in this one the only rule is you have to use 5 different media on one page. It could be almost anything, crayons, pencil, paint, papier-mache, modeling paste, collage, felt, pastels, chalk. Hell you could use coffee, makeup, toilet roll, tinfoil, go out and stick some leaves in! Whatever works. Maybe you want to create a scene or a charcter, maybe you want to create abstract patterns have at it. 6xA5, or 3xA4, or 2xA3, or 1xA2

Agraian april

I admit it the only reason this is on here is because ive recently become adicted to stardew valley. Now thats out of the way this could be used to design your own farm where ever it may be whatever it might grow. Is the farm on mars? Or maybe you want to do some studies of real farms, crops or animals. Perhaps instead you'd prefare to draw some foliage trees and flowers. 6xA5, or 3xA4, or 2xA3, or 1xA2

Make a colouring book may

Do you ever look at some of the adult colouring books they have now and are just like wow. Now become them. What ever you want but try and emulate the colouring book style, detailed, simple, traditional, digital doesnt matter as long as your lines are crisp. 1-6 pages.

Journey june

For this one you have to show a journey is it a journey of the self, is it an adventure of a group, is it a holiday? Maybe its a short story, a comic or a series of stills. 6xA5 or equivalent.

Jar dwelling july

I know this has been done a billion times but i still think its cute. What or who dwells within your jars, is it aliens, a house, a planet a, a monster? Maybe its some potions or a fish or some interdimensional food products. What ever it is there need to be at least six of them, big or small.

Absurd abodes august

Ive recently got quite into isometric house/room concept designs on pintrest. I want to make some! Is it a witches hut or a multy story tree house maybe its a dungeon that houses a bunch of freindly skeletons. How absurd can you make your abode? 6xA5 or 1 xA3

Shiney september

Its time to make some shineys, use whatever shimery shit you got. You got metalic paints or gell pens? Do you have glittery goods? Maybe you havnt thats fine just use tin foil. Maybe you want to create your own pokemon and make them a shiney card, or do you want to paint lots of treasure, or do you want to make things that are definatly not shiney into the most eye watering glitterly mess you can, then this is the challenge for you! 6xA5, or 3xA4, or 2xA3, or 1xA2

I left this one vague so that anyone participating in the anual inktober can work this theme into it, no sense in more stress of an extra challenge.

For this one you need to create a grimm like fairytail of your own invention and illustrate it. Is it page by page or a strip? No length or size options for this one, what ever it takes.

Decorum december

Because i have my own challenge to do in this month ive made the theme easy to integrate into it. For everyone else i supose this is a chance to draw some nobles or royalty some victorians, anything or one with a stiff upper lip so to speak. No size or amount options for this either.

i would say i post a good majority of the art i make!! ive gotten worse at it in recent years, mostly because i keep wanting to save things to post at "peak hours" or whatever but i always forget lmfao. i dont usually keep things to myself intentionally

6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)

art that my friends make always inspires me the more i see from them! mostly in little ways that only i really notice lol

traditional painting is sooo nice... i especially love gouache... i like when traditional painters dont blend their work and use a ton of different colors as well. also people who draw traditionally and put stickers all over their work, i think that's phenomenal

oh god so many lol. one that comes to mind is i was going to make a little animatic with a tiktok sound of my dnd party but uh. one character died and the other two belong to people im no longer friends with due to two separate falling outs 😬

i usually name them based on whats happening in the drawing! or just the character's name, if ive only drawn them once. i also have all my art sorted into folders by subject matter (commissions, dnd, ocs, etc) and by date

10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw

hmmm.... probably long sleeve tshirts/sweaters.... regular jeans can be fun too

ohh lots of things. i have a drawing playlist on youtube thats got a couple hundred videos on it, i also have a ton of spotify playlists. i either listen to something that fits the vibe of what im drawing, or something that will motivate me to stay in the zone lol

hmm. thats hard to say! maybe designing characters? i like to think that im pretty alright at making diverse characters, and i do enjoy it when they’re finished, but it takes soooo much of my brain power to do it lol. i love having little guys that i made but its so hard to make little guys!

none 😬 i rawdog it... i do some wrist stretches afterward most times tho

a little bit! mostly overlay + multiply on low opacity. i put them over a finished drawing to make the colors more cohesive!

steven universe omg. like MAYBE back in 2015 or something it contributed to the way i use shapes a little bit but??? like i love the show, ive made fanart n shit! it just didnt contribute to my art style and i used to get that comparison A Lot

i cant think of one! i dont really do conceptual stuff so theres not usually a ton of room for misinterpretation

sometimes i do! my go-to doodles are fried eggs and little cartoony heads, but a warm up for me can even be a fully lined drawing lol

i tend to get inspired a lot by music. ill hear a song, and it will start with an idea popping in my head, usually a few visuals, and then i listen to the song on repeat and i end up developing an animatic in my head. this will happen while im showering or driving or jogging. (i know its weird that my brain can develop an animatic while im driving-- i know that sounds unsafe-- i dont know how it happens or how i do it, it just does and im completely aware of the road i assure you.)

so yeah i heard “will you still love me tomorrow?” and got the basic idea of just, richie surprising eddie in the forest with his little party set up and them dancing, but then i just got more and more ideas, and i started having to jot them down. it started with a notebook, just the ideas, bullet point as i got them, and then an outline, and then eventually a script, and then thumbnails. a lot of my ideas come in during the thumbnail phase. i might picture a line being read one way when i write it down, and then i draw it out, and i get a totally different idea for what i want. like everything with eddie and the bug spray, tearing off the cap, and him spraying his legs and doing that thing with his butt while richie freaks out, that was all in the thumbnails but not the script. it’s hard to answer the question really because it just happens over time, very organically. some ideas are from my life, things that have happened to me or to people i know. some ideas are from my library of films/shows that i have built in my head and ive ingested to the point that i cant even separate them from myself as an artist, some just come up while im making it all up. but i can talk about a few of the things that pop into my head right now. when you make something like this--everything is an idea in itself-- it’s impossible to explain it all. and that’s so true especially of animation. in live action, certain things aren’t ideas from the creators-- they may have an idea for a setting they want but the location partly determines it or they may have an idea for the way they want a character to look but they compromise that with the way the actor actually ends up looking etc. i know you’re not asking for me to explain it all, but it makes it a little hard for me to know where to start you know haha?

the idea of eddie being pissed that he was ditched out on the dance: this happened to my best friend shannon in middle school. i didn’t want to go to the school dance, and i convinced our third best friend laura to go see madagascar with me downtown and then hang out at the beach and fight with light sabers. shannon was really sad and i didnt find out until years later that she cried and was adopted by some other people at the dance. i didnt realize when i convinced laura to come with that i was having her ditch out on shannon. but i remember them getting into it later, and it was totally valid that shannon was upset. i felt like this would give eddie good reason to be so pissed that he wouldn’t compute what richie was trying to communicate even tho it was really obvious. i also view eddie has having some undiagnosed ADHD and i can relate to being so caught up in your own anxiety that you don’t hear other people. it’s not that you don’t WANT to hear other people; you really do, but you’re kind of incapacitated. and i also remember in middle school someone telling me they liked me and i shot them down as fucking with me because i thought i was being bullied. i could have been totally wrong, but i didn’t even consider it was anything but bullying until years later. so i felt like, him feeling wounded from the dance, his ADHD, his history of anxiety and paranoia because of his mom, and his sense of being a victim from being targeted by bullies at school, would make him so insecure and in his own head that he wouldn’t even compute what’s obviously in front of him.

bev and ben helping richie: i imagine that bev, after seeing eddie’s mom in action, deeply sympathizes with him. and she has another special connection to him in this AU, that i may go into if i decide to extend the AU into a fic, so i won’t go into detail of that here. but i think she sees her struggle with her dad in his struggle with his mom, and she really wants to help him out. my interpretation of it is that bill and ben really pulled bev into the group, but richie, eddie, and stan, they never got to take a vote on it. i think mike is cool with her because he’s even newer to the group than she is. but i imagine that richie, eddie, and stan have some complexes of, “remember when it was just us 4?? remember before everything was about girls??” and there’s some period typical misogyny happening there. and bev, she keeps forgetting that some of the guys in the group see her as “the girl,” and “molly ringwald.” she sees them as her friends-- they fought a fucking clown together, so why the fuck not?? and then every once in awhile they’ll say some stupid shit that makes her go, “oh. right. thanks for reminding me that you’re an asshole.” but she LIKES eddie, she really does, and she wants him to stop being a fuckwit long enough to realize that he deserves better in his life and that he HAS people who care more about him than he seems to get, people like her and people like richie. so i think, she figures out that eddie has a thing for richie (again, if i get into that, it would be in a fic), and she tries to reach out to him, but she’s not “safe” to him. “safe” would be maybe mike or a therapist. mike is homeschooled; he doesn’t gossip, he’s not part of the original 4. so maybe he would confide in him. with very vague terms. but bev?? why is she so interested in him all of a sudden? it’s suspicious. it’s creepy. his only interactions with girls are them picking on him or them manipulating him, and his misogyny has taught him better than to fully trust bev. so she moves on to help richie, who is still an asshat but less difficult to get through to than eddie. and for similar reasons to why eddie would only trust mike, richie opens up to bev and ben because they are “safer” than anyone in the original four. more like, he opens up to bev, and she convinces him they need more manpower to pull all this shit off in a couple hours and convinces him that ben is harmless. and richie thinks he can take on ben if he needs to. and ben being the teddy bear he is, doesn’t really say much. bev definitely coached richie beforehand, and i might do a separate storyboard after this is all done with that if i have it left in me. how did i get all these ideas? wow i didn’t really answer the question at all. i don’t know. LOL

eddie’s outfit: eddie’s mom “accidentally” shrank all of his formal wear at the drycleaners. “oh no, guess you can’t go to the dance.” he hunts through his closet and finds his old boy scout uniform from when he was in fifth grade. (so yeah, they’re SHORT shorts.) and he tries to dress it up with the only thing he can find-- not a tie, not a bowtie-- no, his mom made sure not to leave any of those lying around. fucking suspenders. he knows he looks like shit and he ferris bueller style rigs up his room and sneaks out the window. stan doesn’t hold back when he sees him.

richie’s confession: the writing from this was directly inspired by this scene from when harry met sally. and in my head, i really thought it was going to play out more like this scene. richie was just going to rattle off all the reasons he liked eddie, and it would be quick, and we would move onto the next part and it wouldn’t have become it’s own entire sequence. but when i started boarding it, just idea after idea spilled out of my head. i really couldn’t help it. it just took on a life of its own. and that’s part of why this damn this is so long. because i won’t say no to a good idea if it’s working.

Part 4 only got 4 notes!? That's nuts! For the record, I did find your reddie storyboard here on tumblr first, but now I follow you on twitter and instagram too (and youtube) so I ended up seeing it in my youtube subscription box first and then liking it on twitter and instagram and I didn't check tumblr until now. Maybe there's less notes here because people tend to see it/share it on the other sites first? idk but I want you to feel appreciated, you're doing God's work (I'm atheist but u know)

haha yeah i think it’s up to 17 now. i posted it both in the master thread with all four parts thus far and on its own, so it got a few more in the master thread, but in general i think because the master thread is considered just a reblog of part 1, it doesn’t show up high in the tags or whatnot. part 4 never got a whole ton of notes, even when i posted it on here without sound. like the one that got the most notes was when i posted part 1&2 as a combo the first time without sound, and they’ve all kinda gone downhill from there. i’ve chalked it up to that the reddie fandom has mostly died down and that it’s really noticeable on tumblr because tumblr has also mostly died??? but yeah i’ve gotten decent feedback on instagram. i’ve literally taken out ads on instagram so that it gets seen because it getting seen is what motivates me to keep working. because it takes so long for me to make one part, i don’t post often between those, and the instagram algorithm favors those who post frequently, like practically everyday. unfortunately, instagram has not been approving my ads lately, my guess is because of the cussing, but i have a decent number of followers now on there who are really nice and vocal. i honestly haven’t been coming on tumblr as much because it kind of depresses me, so i mostly stick to instagram. that being said, the people who do reach out are so incredibly kind, and the people who reblog with comments really brighten my day. and thank u! i’m agnostic and i use that phrase sometimes too. i hope i’m not coming across as whining. i just know myself and i know that this is a long story and an ambitious endeavor- we are only about a third of the way through it— and im very scared of losing my motivation and not finishing it. edit: but yes i’ve considered that too, that maybe it’s just being shared on other sites. i’m trying to just have tunnel vision for instagram where it’s doing well unless it picks up steam on the other sites.
