ive been seeing a lot of mouse-folk art on my recommended tab and it makes me crave Celios so here is my humble request for lore or art?

So for context for anyone else reading this we realized in DMs that there was a name mixup but i did draw a quick eensy Celios for fun because I love them very much.

My two rat-folk characters though are named Francach (Frahn-caw) and Cían (Kee-ann). They were from a D&D 2e game that is in a semi-permanent hiatus. May it raise from the grave someday lol.. (More under the cut so its not such a long post lol)

A lot of details are fuzzy but basically we played a prequel to the actual campaign that took place quite a while in the past. We played this to set up some story stuff for the campaign and to learn how to play D&D 2e. I played Francach in this prequel.

These are the pics I drew during that mini campaign, he was a mage and in the second image he's being carried by another player who was an aarakocra lol. The gist was that we had to carry out a heist and bring the stolen object to a god.

I don't remember the exact situation but this prequel basically ended with a total party kill </3 If I recall correctly Francach actually died of a heart attack before the rest of the party was killed 😅

We never played the actual campaign... But Cían was my character for that. He is a distant relative/descendant of Francach. The story takes place in this sort of metropolitan (but still medieval-esque) bay city and in Francach's time he was either one of the first ratfolk in general in the city or he was one of the first of his particular culture of ratfolk.

Once again I don't remember details exactly but I think there was a culture of (what we would consider) wild-looking rats, like norway rats roof rats whatever. mostly solid colored and typically meaner on the mainland. But Francach and Cían come from an island of what we would consider domestic rats. There was a lot of Celtic inspiration for the island which is why they have Gaelic names.

Ratfolk are almost never born as single children, so Cían is a triplet. I don't remember what his brother's name was but I think his sister was named Sìne (she-na). I also don't remember what the exact reason was but for the main campaign he decided to come to this metropolitan city with his sister.... I think to research something for family back home. Sìne was going to be an NPC controlled by the DM, I would only be controlling Cían.

Cían is more brown than Francach and has more of a blaze pattern on his face where Francach had a white spot on his forehead. These are all the various attempts at drawing Cían but none of them felt quite right.

I think the first one in the middle row is probably the best lol

I haven't tried drawing any of them in awhile but maybe I will try again sometime soon ;v; Its difficult trying to anthropomorphize a rat they have such different bodies from us...

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever let a sim die 😆 Not only do I not actually play the game very often, I’m just too attached to my sims. But if I had to choose it’d be death by cowplant.

I bought The Sims 2 Deluxe in 2007. I still get confused with what came with the base game and what came with Nightlife because I’ve always had NL 😅

Like LIVing. I seem to be in the minority on this but whatever.

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?

Laegrinna, of course! I’m sure everyone who follows me knows already but she’s the sim pictured in this post and in my avatar. She’s the protagonist of a game called Deception IV: Blood Ties.

Yep, I do have one, you can see her in my 40th birthday post from last year. I gave her graying hair then to be more accurate. I did play as her a few times but it felt kind of weird so she just roams around my hood.

10. What sim traits do you give yourself?

I don’t use the traits mod but if I did, it’d probably be Absent-Minded, Perfectionist, Cat Person, Eccentric, and Socially Awkward.

11. Which is your favorite EA hair color?

I don’t use EA colors or textures, obviously, but I hate them all, especially the pee yellow blonde 😂

12. Favorite EA hair?

I don’t use EA hairs, but the only one I even remotely like is the Mansion & Garden dreads band hair. I might try to do something texture-wise with it at some point.

I only play adults because I’m boring lol

I dunno, I spend way more time creating and taking pics than I do playing. I’m awful at building but I do enjoy it and like I said I love decorating.

Yep, have been for almost 8 years now! I’ve made a ridiculous amount of CC, mostly hairs but I think I enjoy retexturing clothing and objects a bit more. I’ve just started learning meshing and it’s opened up so many new possibilities for me. I have an endless list of future projects!

16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad?

I have a few. I’m not popular in the community or anything and my social skills are lacking but I do like interacting with other simmers.

Sims 2 forever!

No and I don’t think I’d be good at making videos in general.

20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing?

It’s gotten much more eccentric and I’ve leaned harder into semi-realism despite most people playing Maxis Match the past 10+ years. I love goth/alternative CC and incorporated a lot more into my game when I created the Deception IV sims. It’s funny because it seems like people’s tastes get more mainstream as they age, but it’s exactly the opposite for me. I look at my old CC and the way I used to dress and make up my sims and think “wow was I boring back then.” The current aesthetic of my game more accurately reflects my personality.

Too many to list here! I’m a CC hoarder.

7 years, almost as long as I’ve been creating.

24. How do you edit your pictures?

I do minimal editing, partially because I’m not very good at it and also because with CC previews I want people to see exactly what they’re getting. I use Pooklet’s game lighting actions, I’m careful with how much light I use when taking the pics in-game because it’s easier to brighten a screenshot than fix an overexposed one (Laegrinna’s white hair is particularly prone to overexposure). I brighten the subjects of the picture a bit more and darken the background a little so they stand out. But that’s really it.

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?

Well, we’re not getting anything else for TS2 anyway, and I don’t even know what else I’d want because there’s so many fun mods out there that add to the game.

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far?

That’s a tough one - I love playing witches (Laegrinna and her sister Velguirie are both evil witches) so Apartment Life is up there, but I also love playing businesses and having my sims go out on the town so I couldn’t imagine playing without OFB or Nightlife.

ive tried to get into cc making a couple of times but its so complicated? i have mad respect for cc makers in the community. ill leave that job to the professionals.

back in my day... lol not so much anymore. after i took a fat hiatus a lot of the people i used to regularly talk with moved on.

depends on the picture! usually for scenery pics I will just sharpen them and adjust the brightness / saturation / contrast.

for sim pics it really just depends on how bothered I can be.

I’ve recently made the change to gshade so that’s been doing all the heavy lifting for me.

only for my story sims, in the spirit of keeping things semi-consistent between chapters, because i swear sim stede gains weight faster than any sim i've ever played, and sim ed often ends up TOO BUFF from all of his energized swimming 😂 other than that, i do not, i just let them do their own thing. i dont really use too many custom body shapes for ts2, but definitely coming back to it after playing with the diversity in ts4 has been a bit jarring, but also custom body shapes are a lot of work so. idk what the solution is!

i think mostly i've gotten better at taking and editing pics? gos was pretty much my introduction to sims cc (with the exception of some sailor moon skins/heads i had for ts1 that my dad had to help me install 😂) so that had a HUGE influence on my style that i never really strayed from. i think i toned it down a bit in ts4, but at my core, i am still very neon/grunge oriented

finished the beginner set of levels in the Strawberry Jam Collab, moving onto intermediate :-) here's some pics of my favorite maps from it (but not all of them; a lot were really cool). ive been jotting down short reviews of them as i go so i'll put those under a cut if you also like celeste and are curious. be warned im not very descriptive with these!!!

forest path - utilizes a very interesting take on the dreamblock mechanic (giving you a crystal to effectively dash through any wall once) which i really liked. a few of the rooms had a nice and fun fast-paced feel to them, which is what i play Celeste for. also the music is really good

azure caverns - simple. fun. it takes the thought process behind the gear blocks and changes it up a bit. overall easy, but the last room felt a bit more precise than everything else. not necessarily a bad thing though. music got a bit grating. colors were pretty and easy to see.

loopy lagoon - really unique aesthetic and mechanics. it just feels really good and lets you go fast. loved it.

seeing is believing - the concept is novel… i like that they added a version for single players. overall not much to say about it, its just kinda neat but not challenging or anything.

if my 'driveway' almost did you in… - interesting use of the falling/moving blocks. made me think a bit.

cassette cliffs - the music tempo changes were sort of annoying. concept was alright. art was pretty.

over the city - im not a huge fan of the extra jump mechanics so this one was just ok. got a bit frustrating at times. i dont feel like it overstayed its welcome though, it just isnt my type of level LOL

troposphere - i like the dream block jumping mechanic and this level had a lot of that so i liked it. very pretty. has nice music. i feel like the inclusion of feathers may have been a bit arbitary but it felt nice to play.

potential for anything - i knew this level was going to be a VVVVVV reference from the moment i saw it. It reimagines some of the rooms from the original game with celeste's added dash mechanic, which is super cool. I liked it a lot. wish the music was better. LOL.

midnight spire - this one was simple and not revolutionary but i liked it! mindless fun and pretty design.

paint - super pretty art and the mechanics were interesting but the art got in the way of visibility at times lol.

rose garden - this one was VERY delightful to play. the art is absolutely gorgeous. i thought the music was a bit too high-energy at first note, but then i realized it totally has the cadence of mario galaxy music, which i assume the main mechanic is trying to reference. it wasn't very hard, just plain fun.

treehive - sooo so silly and fun. i loved the bounciness of it. also the honey aesthetic was cute.

the squeeze - it was fine. i liked the little jingles that played each time you successfully 'squeezed' through a gap.

soap - i really like how this level looks. admittedly the mechanic had be stumped on the very first room because i didnt understand what was actually happening. once it clicked (aka, once i watched a video of someone else playing the first room) though, it became a very interesting dilemna. i was fighting my instincts to randomly dash basically the entire level. not my favorite custom mechanic but it was still neat. the heart room was also a challenge in itself instead of just being a big blank room with no danger so that was sorta cool.

switchtube vista - I REALLY LIKED THIS ONE!! the color palette was awesome, the music was awesome, and the gameplay was fast paced and somewhat precise but not in an obtuse or confusing way. The level makes it incredibly clear what you should be doing, you just have to be able to do it. i thought it was one of the easier levels so im not sure why its marked as being difficult but whatever…

a gift from the stars - this was another puzzle level. the mechanics of it sort of fucked with my brain, i won't lie. i looked up parts of solutions for hints at times… really cool though. i'll admit however that the visibility of the level kinda sucks. cool music too

strawberry orchard - music was silly but sort of distracting at times. i dont love the theo mechanics but i think they were used well here and did not overstay their welcome! overall fun

dropzle - ok admittedly the concept sort of bored me at first; i don't really play this game to be challenged by puzzles. As i played more though, i found myself being a bit more forgiving and really digging the idea more. The puzzles were hard, but not toooo hard. i loved the music, i think that contributed to my enjoyment of the level a lot. very calming.

coresaken city - didn't dislike this one as much as i thought it would (not a huge coreblock fan). i think it utilized the mechanics well without making itself too difficult which was nice for my weak hands.

blueberry bay - ohg my god the music was awesome. i loved the reusing of the lobby music. ok i'll admit i didnt love the puzzle portions of this but i know they had to be included somehow. such a beautiful testament to the overall level pack. im sure im gonna say this about very heartside though.

Story Time(?)

to preface this i'm not posting pics of myself in my old ugly ass soccer football kit so yah, anyways!

a little about my relationship w the sport:

as a moroccan-canadian, who's whole life was defined by watching my dad play w all the other 3amous of the masjid every sunday night, football was my life. most of my summers were spent listening to cousins who were constantly fighting about raja and wydad while i sat on the sidelines waiting for them to throw the ball in. and most of my classmates made every discussion about el classico matches. i only actually played football w a team from the ages of 11-15 (not long ik) where i had to stop bc of school and other extra curriculars.

some funny/embarrassing things about this time:

1. i had always been playing in elementary school but not w a proper team. just w my classmates. except for our school's yearly world cup and sister school tournies: in which i apparently had a reputation in, bc most ppl i meet from that time remembered me by the fact i carried my class' girl's team LOL. like my friend who just moved from iraq got married to a guy a year older and on the phone he heard she was talking to me. when she mentioned who i was he went "the one who kept beating my grade right?" i died of embarrassment a little bc holy shit pls forget i existed before the age of 18. i spawned a fully formed human.

2. i played mostly right back! which is why i love defensive players so much. i originally wanted to be a goalie, bc i have so much respect for the position, but the coach took one look at me and went "absolutely not lol". also fuck who ever said defenders are lazy bc my lefty bestie and i ran the most every game. if anything strikers r the lazy ones. which is funny bc they put me on as a striker at first bc i was fast and short, then they realized im shit at finishing LMAOOO 💀💀. i also played defensive midfielder when ours was out on injury.

3. in my team i was the 2nd most carded player. which makes perfect sense when u realize i started club football bc of sergio ramos

Im personally starting not to trust Stas based on things ive seen lately, she knows what people think about her and Colby because she reads through all her comments on all 3 major social media platforms, and will angle her pictures to make it seem like she is eating with another person when in fact its her roommate because her roommate always posts her pov too. She knows people assume everything she does is some hidden message pertaining to Colby and instead of clarifying she keeps it going. She posted some tiktok where people swore she was snuggled up to Colbys shirt, but then another account posted an old photo of her wearing that shirt when she still had blonde hair. Her recent snaps she posed with the shirt next to her and then another snap out to lunch which she later replied to on twitter but again its angled and her roommate posted the same thing. It’s like following a Nancy Drew mystery except this one has no bases or actual mystery. Katrina today posted a pic that debunks one Stas posted which made it seem like her and Colby were alone. Actually is all pretty sad, not sure what she’s trying to achieve with this but i dont see anything good coming out of it once Colby goes back to posting with Shea, or Amber, or another beau.

Oh, both her and Colby clearly know what's being said/speculated about them on socials. I think they actually alluded to it on that infamous drunken livestream they did on Kat's twitch that we shan't talk about, lol.

To be fair, I don't know how much of what she does is calculated beforehand, so much as she may be taking advantage of the consequences of her postings after the fact, you know what I mean?

Take the shirtgate thing, for example. I doubt she really put much thought into that shirt vaguely resembling Colby's when she decided to make that tiktok. But once the comments started rolling in, and the conspirators starting conspiring, she may well have seen all that and decided, for whatever reason, "Let me throw them a couple more bones here," instead of just straight up telling everyone that she wasn't rolling around in Colby's shirt on tiktok as some secret nod to the fans that they're together.

This reminds me of my favorite conspiracy theory of all time: the Paul is Dead theory. If you've never heard of it, check it out- it's wild. Basically, fans became convinced that Beatle Paul McCartney was killed in 1966 and replaced by a lookalike Paul, and that the remaining 3 Beatles left clues to the "truth" throughout all of their subsequent album songs and covers.

Now, the Beatles themselves did not start this rumor, and they have kind of tried to debunk it over the years...but there have also been times when they've leaned into a bit. Why? Who knows, they're all whacky lol. I guess if people are going to make you front and center in their conspiracy theories, you might as well reap the benefits that come with that kind of dogged visibility. 🤷‍♀️

Still a grump, he met you back at the door.

We put a bunch of cc ideas (hair and clothes) in a discord server we have together and then work on the stuff together on call usually so each item is the way we both want me. Like for example i’ll be meshing the Ivy top while he works on texturing the ribbed version.  We also only do collabs when they happen, we didn’t plan AxA 2019 or this new set, mainly just made cc starting in May and wrapped it up in July to release in August. Then this time we started making stuff late December and got most of it done by the time I got done with my break. Having a planned collab/deadline makes stuff less stressful and the stuff usually turns out better imo

I really really wanted to have all my 2019 hairs updated by 2020. It was only January 2019-April 2019 that needed updated (thumbnails and display indexes). But I just lost motivation for doing it. this is a late as hell reply i’m sorry. I think that you have texture where the glasses texture would be. Hair texture should only be in hair section or hat section (if you don’t want it hat compatible). Here is a UV map layout that I use for making hair textures. It shouldnt have anything to do with weights

I do use reshade when I take cc previews. It adds a bit of saturation to my sims and gives them some shadows under their chin/clothes. Nothing major. Also, myself and @imvikai came up with the tropical punch palette together.

well we got... the smut. which... takes place in the construction trailer. thats all im willing to say about it lmao

then i got the happiest season au so thats festive. 

then i got chapter 2 of the harringrove childhood best friends fic which is focusing on the high school years which will be super fun once get past the wall i hit but its fine its chill i got it

then i attempted to start 2 other fics a few weeks ago when i was feeling supes depressed lol and those were penelope reaching out to fp after freds funeral (as i said... i was depressed lmao) and the other one is sad christas where fred and fp make sweet love under the twinkling christmas lights but then have a big fight after bc that still sounds fun to me. dont know when those are ever gonna get finished but like... theyre there. i only got like one paragraph in to both of them tho so

i think my writings been consistently terrible so this is not the question for me lmao whichever one i wrote first has pretty much just... set the tone

i dont think my writing influences my reading. as for the first question, i will say with smut i can read a LOT of shit, a LOT of certain language and im fine with it. but when it comes to me actually writing it suddenly i get so embarrassed and im like “this sounds cringey. no one writes it this way. dont use those words” but itll be about shit that is so commonplace in literally every smut fic ive ever read like i still cant reference balls it makes me uncomfortable lmfao but beyond that, im pretty critical of other peoples writing. like... to a certain extent i can put up with mistakes, but theres definitely a limit to that and even then im like fixing shit in my head to make it flow better as im reading. so the bar for me is always to just write better than the worst fics ive read. which... i can safely say i at least do that.

22. how much of your own self/experiences do you believe pours into your projects? if this differs per project, which projects have the most and least of you?

i simply have no experiences to draw from i am a hermit. i ... do not live life. even when i was younger i just... did not do anything lmao the only bits of myself/my experiences i can put in are like... mental illness. and even then i have yet to fully tap into that energy i dont know if any of us are ready for that level of negativity. (which... was probably gonna happen in those previously mentioned depression fics so its for the best we did not go there). oh but if you want a fun answer any time ive written gladys or alice roasting fp thats fully been me and how i interact with people

i do none of those things. i dont actively pursue anything outside of writing for the fics. if i happen to come by something that inspires an idea then sure but im not out seeking it. ive tried making moodboards before for fics but i get annoyed cuz i can never find the pics i want and i give up. the only reason why murder fic has one is bc i was saving up pictures long before i even decided to write it

Hey so I saw you mention top surgery and was curious. I was supposed to be having top surgery this summer but that’s postponed. I was curious how that went with chronic pain? I’m scared about the surgical binder with my fibro and back pain. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!! (You can answer privately if you prefer)

ive actually been meaning to write up a big post on this pretty much since i had top surgery but still haven't got around to it yet so I'm happy to talk about it lol. ill go over stuff now n still aim to do a more in depth post later when im on my laptop (but writing this now bc i tend to forget everything haha). ill stick to the more fibro / chronic illness specific stuff & stuff i wasnt expecting rather than rehashing everything. apologies im on mobile so i cant put this under a cut

firstly, im sorry ur surgery got postponed! i know that must be gutting, so i hope it gets rescheduled asap & the time until then passes easily for u ❤️

I had double incision with free nipple grafts on the 4th of september 2019 with Mr Miles Berry at the london wellbeck hospital. i think he did an amazing job and can't recommend him enough for his work! i think the last pics i took of my chest were for tdov, and ill rb them after i post this for reference. i didnt have drains at any point of the surgery

for ppl with fibro, i was told that the pain after surgery either tends to trigger a flareup, or be really easily manageable, and it's hard to predict which it will be beforehand. its best to prepare for a flareup and be pleasently surprised if u dont get one. for me, i had a flareup that sucked but wasnt too bad as far as flareups go

you'll probably get given painkillers. take them regularly. it's easier to treat pain preemptively. if u don't get given them (no idea how it works outside of the uk) id say def get codine and paracetamol. u can't take ibuprofen for a while

i woke up from aneasthetic freezing cold + in a lot of pain. apparently most ppl dont need the full dose of morphine, but i did. after that it was a bit better. i was just So Goddamn Hungry literally it's all i was talking about

that night in hospital was probably one of the most uncomfortable in my life. you have to sleep sitting up for like blood reasons, so my back pain was quite bad bc of it. moving around a bit and adjusting pillows helped. if u have anything that normally helps ur back pain bring it with u to the hospital, & dont be afraid to ask the nurses for help with it (even if they can just adjust ur pillows for u). i couldnt rly sleep much but distraction helps. bring ur phone + headphones. i did a few ask memes when i couldnt sleep

the first week from surgery was rly tough, the first few days especially. this was bc i still had to sleep elevated for a few days and i couldnt get comfortable. i was too exhausted to do anything but couldn't sleep and it rly started to get me down. then i got some sleeping tablets (just nytol) and that helped so much. i literally cannot recommend it enough bc the not sleeping properly made everything hard (and like esp because with fibro the whole pain/fatigue/depression cycle is so real). once i started sleeping better recovery became a lot easier, and the tablets made the awkward sleeping positions more manageable. if i had to give only one bit of advice this would be it

on that note, ik everyone says this but do get a V pillow. it helps u adjust to sleeping on ur back and if u sleep on ur side normally it means u can like lean slightly sideways on it which makes it sm easier. also this isn't even top related but they make good back pillows when ur watching stuff in bed even now

get urself some video games (if ur into them) and easy entertainment shows lined up for when u wanna have them. recovering from major surgery makes ur fatigue even more pronounced so ur not going to be able to do all that much, but having light entertainment ready to go stops u getting as bored. its also a good excuse to finally play/watch the things you've been meaning to for a while

go outside when u can. if u have a garden just walk around it. it helps with a lot of stuff, and idk about u but i always forget how much it does. even just helping u sleep better if u get trapped in a fibro fatigued-but-can't-sleep cycle. and it goes so far helping u feel human in the first week

the first week is rly hard for a lot of ppl - its frustrating to have all that pain and exhaustion and not being able to wash or change the binder, and with the swelling and bandages under the binder it doesn't really feel like there's much change, which all sort of adds together. i keep going on about this week bc it helps to mentally prepare for it - there's no need to dread it, you just need to remind urself how worth it itll all be and that the rest of recovery is a lot better than the first part, and in time it won't have seemed that bad. big picture stuff

when u get the chest reveal, everything's better. i didnt stop smiling. and when u put the post op binder on afterwards, without all the bandaging, u like feel for the first time how much flatter u are??? and its amazing. even with the swelling. and then u get to shower and u feel human again and its great. (ik some ppl have their post ops/chest reveals much earlier than a week, but 5 days to a week is pretty standard in the uk. mine was 6 days i think)

more post op binder stuff: i got given 2. the first one i woke up in after the surgery and wasn't allowed to take off until my post op, and the second one i got given at my post op to change into after i showered. After that i alternated every few days. whatever u get given, if u get less than 2 i recommend getting another one so u can alternate them (if u want help sourcing them hmu. ive also still got mine i need to give away)

the post op binders were actually a lot easier to wear full time than normal binders. they were like more stretchy, and stretchy the full way round (bc they dont have the compression bit at the front). i used to sleep in my normal binder every time i slept with my ex, and that hurt like a motherfuck sometimes. the post op binder was much kinder to my ribs

i had to wear the post op binder full time, taking it off like once a day to shower n let my chest breathe (and massage my scars once i started that). some surgeons arent that strict abt wearing it that long, but it really helps swelling, & bc i didnt have drains it was rly important to stop fluid buildup. ik quite a few guys in my trans groups who stopped wearing their binder fairly early and then got quite a lot of swelling so i didn't want to risk it & i wore it for the full 6 weeks. at some point (icr when but maybe at 6 weeks? bc my post op was at 8 weeks bc he was on holiday) i didnt wear it during the day and only wore it at night

all in all the binder didnt bother me that much. it was more comfortable than my regular binders and i just kinda got on with it. it was annoying tho and i was glad when i could stop wearing it. for me the most annoying part was that it was a full length binder (i always wore half length before) and the riding up at the hips was rly irritating. i actually quite liked sleeping with it tho it was a pretty nice pressure stim ahah

some post op binders r more comfortable than others. if u have to buy ur own, i rly suggest going with a proper surgical one (they arent too hard to find second hand for free or cheap, again im happy to help here) bc they're kinder to chronic pain. i know that having a comfortable post op binder made it all a lot easier for me. there are also lots of alternatives w lots of price ranges tho, so that's not ur only option
