part I | part II | part III | part IV
Helion x reader, rhysand x sister!reader
Warnings: fluff, making out, honeymoon bliss, suggestive
Summary: In which you and Helion are happy.
a/n most definitely another filler chapter but the one with drama will be out tmrrw and my schools starting in like four days so the drafts will come out slower
Helion was the best mate anyone could ever ask for. He could cook, he understood my emotions, gave me space, could give amazing cuddles and kisses, he was great in bed but most of all he cared.
In a sense no one had ever done before. When I wanted him home, he was home. When I visited him during a meeting he made me sit in his lap and glared at anyone who decided to mention it.
We had been mated for at least 6 months by now. And it was absolute bliss. Every single day he would wake me up with his head between my legs, every single night he would worship me like a queen. His kisses made my knees weak and my head dizzy.
Sighing at the thought of him kissing me, I continue trying my best at a dish that Rhysand used to cook for me as a child.
Just as I’m about ditch the recipe and head to his office, a strong pair of arms wrap around me.
Melting into his touch, I lean back. He kisses my neck and bites at my soft spot making me moan softly.
“Hey baby,” turning around my hands run through his beautiful hair. His lips find mine almost instantly. My back presses against the counter and I arch into his touch. Pulling him closer my fingers stray to the hem of his shirt.
“As much as I would love to continue this, I have to tell you something,” he pulls away. My kind is still reeling from his intense kisses. Nodding, I ask him to keep going.
“The Night Court wants to negotiate some stuff with us,” he told me.
Raising an eyebrow I beckon him to continue. “I want you to come with me, your first appearance outside of Day Court as High Lady, and I know what you’re going to say, that you’re not ready or you’re not sure, but I know that you’re ready, I also know how much you miss your brother and your nephew,”
He was right, I mean when was Helion ever wrong?
“I suppose Nyx should meet his uncle,” I sigh dramatically.
“Can you help me make this dish, Rhysand used to make it for me,” I ask him.
“Rhysand can cook?” he gapes at me in shock. “You can cook too sweetheart,” I lay a soft kiss on his adam’s apple and start gathering the ingredients.
“I know what you’re trying to make, you relax I’ll make it for you,” Helion says pressing kisses against my shoulder.
He’s elbow deep in flour, looking like an absolute vision. His golden eyes glint in the sun, his tan skin more prominent as the sun started setting.
We had decided to get this house because of its position and how the sun was almost always reflecting some room.
In the mornings it was our bedroom, during the day it was the seating area outside and during the evening it always seeped into the kitchen.
Not that I was complaining, it made the Day High Lord in front of me look softer and almost vulnerable.
“You’re staring, my love” Helion chuckles, his voice oozing smugness. “Is it so wrong for a female to enjoy the view her mate is providing?” I question, teasing.
“No I suppose not, you know I have to put this in the oven for awhile and we have some spare time,” he cheekily suggests.
“What shall we do?” I say feigning innocence. He circles around to the side of the counter where I’m sitting and gently holds my chin, “You’re so innocent right now but wait until I have you begging and writhing underneath me,”
I gulp, his words go straight to my core.
“What are you waiting for then?”
a/n AZRIEL U WISH THIS WAS U anyway don’t think they have ovens in acotar and i js watched the pjo finale and the way luke said annabeth broke me but like my husband looked rlly fine.

Alright, so... thoughts.
Let me split this to the Difficulty Corner, and... Amber's Confession Corner asjghJLSGSG
Difficulty
Shinki is the toughest, for sure. Followed by Keiki, then Medicine in the Suzuran Field, and Yuuka. I know Miko is super tough at the start too, but Spooky swept them.
I think I might be able to survive normally against Shinki if I wasn't being STUPID, but Keiki is the biggest curve for sure.
That said, the difficulty... feels very weird by the endgame. It feels like the game is SUPER hard at the first half, then you have to intentionally not grind as much by the end
And now... The Confession Corner
1) Regardless of me putting the 'no lookup' rule, I tried not to look things up to make things more interesting.
Like if you checked the pinned post, this was what I put, and... any Nuzlocker would research things in advance, but... not did I didn't look things up, I can't.
Because there's no guide on the Extended mod other than videos.
The things I did look up are:
Kanako's Team and what she gives when you beat her
A way to counter Satori (I DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING, SO I HAD TO THINK ljaSGHAJLSG)
Shinki's illegal IV + EV stats, and her item
2) I have been planning the Shinki talk for... a very, VERY long time.
It was after like, Play 4 months ago when I actually started thinking how to make it interesting for you guys, so... here's a few drafts which were scrapped at the end until... two days ago? Yesterday?
If you guys want to see the old script, here you go.
I scrapped it because Shinki sounded so cold in it, it felt so out of character ljasghljasg
I hope you guys enjoy the 'final' version rather than the one I drafted initially :D
Bonus 3) Most of the shitposts are just done on the fly, except for two things:
I mean, I KNOW YOU GUYS DO BUT CRINGE IN THE BAD WAY lasgHJALSG
I try not to force humor or anything, so I just kind of let things fly most of the time. But there are two things I planned, which are:
In the case of the narrative when my starter, Spooky, died. SHE DIED SO INCREDIBLY FAST, I WAS KIND OF AT THE LOST FOR A MOMENT THAT I ACTUALLY HAVE TO SIT. I told a few people that Spooky dying threw a wrench into my plans, and it would end up with Shigure and Spooky visiting the first place they visit in the end, and I had to plan what Shigure's going to do next
The whole thing with Shinki, which was mentioned :D
Everything else is just Amber's brain being stupid AJLSGHAJLSASG
But I did make two things which I did not manage to show
4) I have quite a few more rare candies, but...
Let's be honest, no one wants to see 6 Level 100s, right? Well, at least, not me, so I went with the current party OTL
ANYWAYS YEAH THAT'S IT
THANK YOU FOR TUNING IN

Tag game: Current
got tagged by @begaydoalchemy !! thank u !!
- Current time: 9:45 (AM for you US peeps smh)
- Current activity: finished up prefarming blades traces to 6/8/8/8. double calyx drops events is a godsend. was listening to a video essay on the bg but the favorite song section made me go listen to stiny on repeat again bc i love inflicting emotional damage on myself so i guess thats what.
- Currently thinking about: so theres this person in the hsr leaks subreddit megathread doing daily renheng insanity ponderings since blades trailer dropped and ive been just losing my mind ever since reading them. anyway i wanted everyone here to get to see them too but didnt wanna repost em bc its just kinda ehhhh to do so. here u go!! suffer with me!!! click the links theres all 3!!! (spoilery warning tho. idr how many leaks refs there are in there exactly but expect some at least)
- Current favorite song: spotify most listened to top5 currently looking like NEON by raon, kissaki by reol, wildfire, cha cha cha (we will never forgive xx swedes watch out) and stiny from KALUSH & jerry heil.
but like let me be clear the only reason reol isnt number 1 is bc the full version of the song only came out like 2 weeks ago and the earlier released shorter anime ver of kissaki is literally 7th on the list.
- Currently reading: ...i mean mostly just renheng fanfic but uhhh. i did read where the crawdads sing from delia owens (just plucked it out from the bookshelf randomly bc i was bored) a month or so back. it was neat but no like particular strong feelings abt it. it was very well written and i liked the flow of the prose a lot. also waiting for crooked kingdom to get a finnish translation bc i got six of crows in finnish and i dont do book series as mixed language sets generally. (also the translation work itself was just like an absolute fucking banger with the imagery and metaphors used like chef kiss)
- Currently watching: no particular show (last thing was when i rewatched fmab a couple months ago) going on but like. random video essays or informative stuff on yt honestly and its mostly for bg noise.
- Current favorite character: gee i wonder. dan heng (past editions included), blade, (big gap here bc i tunnel vision on characters), bailu, luocha, jing yuan i think for specific ones from hsr for now. am looking out for jingliu and fu xuan too i need to study them. in genshin its like. yeah its mr childe ajax tartaglia all the way but i kinda just havent been feeling it for the game much so eh. tighnari, kazuha up there too n arlecchino obvi.

im sorry i have no idea who to tag so like. anyone who wants to do it feel free, mutuals or followers!!! :]

Big Ol’ McCree Get Together
Big Ol’ McCree Get Together - Ao3
Summary: Hanzo accompanies his fiancé Jesse to his family reunion. Cute domestic fluff as Hanzo meets with his new family and starts his own with Jesse.
_______________________________
The air in the barn was hot and humid. The reek of moldy hay and dirty animals stuck in the air like a dense fog, dulled only by the warm cider and jack-o-lanterns. The cows mourned the warmth and safety of their barn as they bemoaned their misery outside the doors. The whole barn was massive; it had a fully fleshed out second story, for visitors or travelers to stay and for Jesse when he finally found the road back home.
This time, when the McCrees got together, it’d been a good two or three years since the eldest son Jesse had made his way on time. He scarcely showed himself anymore, and he liked it that way; while he loved his family with all his heart, they just didn’t agree on a few too many issues for him.
McCree leans on the sturdy oak table laden with three-days labor of food and feast, his hand linked tightly with the strong, calloused digits of his wealthy companion. Jesse tosses a gentle look at Hanzo Shimada, whose nose is crinkled at the intense smell and sea of people.
“You look like you took up Keith’s offers for a cow pie,” Jesse suggested. Hanzo turned his attention to his partner, trying to relax his face.
“I’ve never experienced this many stenches simultaneously, even after the grueling boatride,” Shimada responded. They both tightened their grip on the other’s hand.
“I reckon you know more words than I do. At least, you put ‘em far more eloquently, more than I ever will.”
Hanzo smiles warmly and tugs on Jesse’s arm gently; he leans in to receive the gentle whisper. “Your words are beautiful, as they are yours.”
In a heartbeat, the calm between the pair gets interrupted. A young boy runs from beneath the table, forcing himself between Hanzo’s legs, and gets followed by a tiny little girl. Shimada catches himself easily, but the eldest McCree kid peels away to chase after his little relatives.
“Mario, you can’t just attack a guest like that! Olivia, you keep fightin’ like that and you’re gonna have to face me one of these days.” The two kids squeal gleefully as they get caught, scooped up by the grisled cowboy’s strong arms, and relax comfortably in his familiar grip.
“It’s Paul, Jess! He goes by Paul now.” Olivia chimed, pointing at Paul accusingly.
“ Sí, Jesse. Me llamo Paul ahora. ”
“Don’tchya mean ¿te llamas Paulo? ” Jesse piped in, but his littlest brother shook his head. “Alright. Paul or no Paul, I’ve got some fight left in these muscles if you keep harassin’ yer little cousin. Same goes to you, Olive.”
The two whined, reluctantly agreed to not engage a 23-year-old man, and wandered off to harass Gran’mama. Hanzo rested his hand on Jesse’s shoulder to silently catch the other’s attention, who leaned up into the touch as he straightened his back.
“You have a large family, Jesse.”
“Aw, it’s pretty small for how long we’ve owned this plot of land. Some people got enough cousins and siblings to populate a whole town to themselves. Half of us can’t even make it to the yearly gathering anymore,” McCree responded most humbly. He gently slides Shimada’s hand down until their fingers lace together once more, squeezing confidently. The shorter man offers up a happy smile from the gesture.
“Why has your family dispersed so drastically?” he asked.
Jesse paused, glancing around. Of course, it doesn’t seem like anyone’s paying much attention, but he can feel burning stares from his mother’s favorite chair. McCree decides to tug Hanzo to the door and out into the cool night air. His boyfriend is easily led away from the dizzying smell and overwhelming population in the barn.
“Jesse?” he offered, once they were far enough that only the moonlight illuminated their faces.
Jesse stared hard at his lover. It was still so foreign to say… his lover , his partner, his boyfriend and fiancé. He stared at Hanzo Shimada, whose warm charcoal eyes offered nothing but concern and support; whose muscular arms opened up for an embrace, a hug tight enough to squeeze out all the tension in his bones. He let himself melt into his boyfriend, let the anxiety eating at his appetite dissolve into the solid mesa beneath their feet, and let the unease in his gut untwist. The two breathed synchronously for what felt like a fleeting hour.
“Is it because you’re gay?”
“I wish it were that easy, Han. I wish I could just say my family hates me for havin’ a taste in men, but I’m not gay. I like boys an’ girls. They hate me for not pickin’ sides,” Jesse started, his tone solidifying by the end of it.
“There’s more to it, clearly,” Shimada offered.
“It’s hard to talk about with you,” Jesse finally pleaded after a long pause. He’s certain he’ll get the brunt of Hanzo’s offense now, taken aback by his boyfriend’s lack of trust, uncertain whether he can handle a relationship with such a big secret--
“Then tell me why it is difficult. So that I may ease whatever anxiety it is that prevents me from helping you.”
“Hanzo,” McCree starts, pulling away from the warm hug to cup both of Shimada’s hands with his. He savors the warmth of the foreigner’s palm on his. “The problem is you’re gay.”
Now he looks offended. Well, mostly confused, a little hurt, a little stupified. Jesse squeezes Hanzo’s hand tightly, then drops the grip altogether. His sweaty palm slips from Shimada’s, and he uses his real hand to unbutton his shirt.
McCree peels off his clothes, layer by constricting layer, and the look on Hanzo’s face fades to total understanding. He rests his hand on Jesse’s chest as the cowboy is about to peel off his tank-top. He ignores it, removing the garment anyway and breathing deeply, now that his lungs have a little space. Shimada leaves his palm resting onto McCree’s bare tit, chest swelling with a few deep breaths.
Hanzo slides his hand up to McCree’s shoulder, the other on his hip, then falls forward and squeezes the cowboy tightly. The last of Jesse’s anxiety fades with that hug, and he squeezes his boyfriend back just as tight.
“I do not understand,” Shimada said quietly.
“Well,” Jesse starts, leaning his face into Hanzo’s shoulder and breathing, catching his thoughts. His lover leaves him with complete silence and all the time in the world. “Let’s just say, I wasn’t born as a man. But I am one, now. My Paw taught me to shoot, and my Maw taught me to cook; I started wearin’ pants when I was 12 ‘cause I kept tearing up my dresses in the brush.
“I found me a gang by the time I turned 15. They were rowdy and wild and hungry, but they believed me a boy, and they trusted my aim like I trusted theirs. Wasn’t until I got caught by the sheriff at 19 that I finally got my way out.”
“But,” Hanzo trailed off.
“Well, a few things happened to split the family. Part of ‘em supported my decision, part of ‘em didn’t. Most of my aunts an’ uncles moved out to the nearest city, my Paw’s remainin’ family refused his decision to accept havin’ a gay son, a few of ‘em have died through various means. Maw’s takin’ care of my four siblings, along with three of my youngest cousins.”
“So it is not entirely your fault, at least. You made it seem like your decision--” Shimada began.
“It wasn’t really a decision,” McCree interjected.
“Your… gender?” he offered, met without objection. “You made it seem as though your gender were the sole reason causing your family reunions to dwindle down to tiny gatherings.”
“I guess that’s how it always felt. Maw definitely don’t like her eldest kid decided to run off with a gang of rough boys and abandon her with all the young’uns,” Jesse said.
Hanzo finally released the tight hug and Jesse forced himself to relax, the duo staring at the dying light of the barn. Seems tonight’s feast is finally getting cleaned up, and they’ll have to wander back before they lose their only guide to shelter.
“I don’t think they hate you as much as you feel, Jesse. You have a large, supportive family, who thrive off of their love for each other. I think they miss you,” Hanzo finally said as his arm slid around McCree’s waist. The cowboy bent down silently, retrieving his shirts and slowly sliding into his constricting undershirt. A gentle squeeze from his boyfriend stops him with his arms and head still stuck inside. Jesse grunts in confusion.
“We are about to sleep, yes? Alone?” Shimada asked.
“Mhm. My room’s been moved to the upper floor of the barn, so we most likely won’t get disturbed. Bright side of never comin’ home on a predictable schedule, I reckon,” McCree chuckled. He slithers back out of his undershirt and decides to just button up his outermost shirt, up to the throat, and folds the rest of his clothing over his arm. He holds out his wooden hand for Hanzo, who delicately wraps both of his around McCree’s with an amused grin.
The only one who hasn’t cleared out of the barn by the time Jesse and his partner return is his eldest cousin, herding the cows back in for the night. McCree decides to leave his clothes with Shimada and help him out.
“They left you all alone, Marshall?” Jesse grinned.
“I reckon it’s the credentials. Now that I’m Sheriff Marshall, they figure I can handle herding twenty cows into a lil ol’ barn,” his cousin laughed.
Hanzo stayed back, somewhat obscured by the midnight shadows, watching the two work. Marshall has a curled mustache and a smooth jawline, but he could be taken for his cousin’s double if they tried.
After the last cow finally wandered into the barn, Marshall rested a hand on the doorframe and extended the other to Jesse. He paused, offering up the wrong hand for the shake, but his only good hand; looking a little embarrassed, the older McCree switched hands to shake proper.
“You oughta find time to visit more, Jesse. You and I never get to talk and catch up,” the sheriff said.
“That’s a mighty difficult request. It ain’t just that I’m not available to come home, y’know,” Jesse responded.
“Believe me, I know. I think you’re only hurtin’ yourself by stayin’ away, though. Y’oughta at least write letters--hell, drop them by the Sheriff’s office and I’ll deliver them myself, faster than any postman could ride!”
The two laughed a good spell before finally pulling away. Marshall McCree turned to the house; Jesse quickly got to Hanzo and threw an arm around his boyfriend’s shoulders. He dragged Shimada closer to Marshall, waving his free hand around.
“Hey, Marshall! You met Hanzo yet?” Jesse hollered; his cousin stopped and whirled on his heels with a grin.
“Can’t say y’ever introduced me. Who is this dapper oriental?” he asked, grabbing Hanzo’s tattooed arm to examine it.
Shimada paused, tense, before tugging his arm out of the sheriff’s prying grip. He tucks his arm behind his back casually.
“My name is Hanzo Shimada. I am Japanese ; I traveled here with my brother after we left our family,” he said. Marshall, thankfully, looks embarrassed to have offended his cousin’s friend, and tucks his thumbs into his belt loops.
“Mighty fine to meet you, Mr. Shimada. How’d you meet Jesse here?”
“Han and I met out in Cal,” Jesse started excitedly. Hanzo leaned into his partner, who relaxed and cleared his throat. “Continue.”
“My brother Genji and I were new to the country. We passed through Angel Isle legally, happy to have each other. When times grew harder, McCree rescued the two of us, allowing us to travel and stay with him. Once we were established, Jesse and I continued to talk while my brother began to wander for work. We’re engaged now, and have been wandering together for three years.”
“Three years, y’say?” Marshall asked, looking bewildered. “I swear I seen Jesse single since then.”
“Well, we used to both have horses, ‘til I sold my girl to buy an engagement ring. We didn’t always go everywhere together,” Jesse piped in.
The sheriff stares intently at Hanzo, now that he has a better idea of who this foreigner is. He seems satisfied with the introduction and pats his shoulder good and firm, with a light chuckle. Hanzo smiled, genuinely, and shook his hand again.
“G’night, boys. Catchya at the breakfast table,” Marshall waved and wandered into the farmhouse.
Jesse and Hanzo migrate to the top floor of the barn, to McCree’s space. He has a full size bed with a hand made wooden frame, a dresser with a change of clothes, and a trunk with personal belongings he doesn’t bring with him. The foreigner politely sits on the bed and watches his fiancé undress completely; after an expectant stare from the cowboy, he mimics the gesture.
The two sit down on the first actual bed they’ve shared in a few months, leaning on each other and breathing the night air seeping through cracks in the wooden walls. A full moon peering through the window provides just enough light, the two cowboys gazing into each other’s loving eyes. In full silence, the two gradually shift, sliding beneath the blanket and pressing warm skin to warm skin. A hard jaw rests in the crook of the other’s muscular neck, with calloused, dirty hands stroking lovingly over tender pectorals. McCree pulls the blanket tightly to his chin, and Shimada pokes his nose over the edge to breathe. Legs tangle and feet tickle curiously.
The pair don’t even realize they fell asleep until warm dawn rays kiss the pillow. Jesse groans, trying to roll over and nearly throwing Hanzo out of bed--which of course stirs him awake as well as he clings on to stay in the warmth. McCree pauses, clutching his lover tightly and breathing in the sweet smell of his hair. He plants a kiss on Shimada’s forehead, and he reciprocates by pecking around the younger man’s beard.
A fresh change of clothes for both of them is sorely appreciated. While McCree slides into his new clothes happily, his partner struggles; his pants are just a little too big, his socks fall down, his shirt hangs loosely off of his broad shoulders. Shimada tucks his overshirt in and snaps on a vest to hold it in place, tightens his belt, and tucks his pants into his boots.
“How do I look?” Hanzo asked curiously.
Jesse chuckles, leaning in for a smooch while he straightens his partner’s vest. “Lovely, ducky.”
Shimada grins into the kiss, absentmindedly sliding his hands into the back pockets on McCree’s itchy wool pants and squeezing. The younger man chuckles happily and wriggles out of his lover's grip to start packing up.
“We oughta get our gear washed while we're here. And take a bath down in the creek, too,” Jesse said, grinning.
Hanzo beams back, soaking up the atmosphere. “Breakfast first?” he asked coyly, receiving a playful smack on his shoulder.
“You ain't never had a breakfast til you've had my Maw n’ Gran’mama’s. Sausage and bacon and eggs and pancakes stacked higher than New York and biscuits so fluffy you can sleep on 'em and gravy so thick y’could brush your teeth with it and fresh picked cinnamon apples and if we're real special, she’ll squeeze oranges straight from Florida, and baked peaches…”
Hanzo nods along as Jesse describes everything he loves to eat for breakfast while they walk down from the barn to the farm house. They've got more people packed at the table than they do plates. Fourteen people spaced out from age 2 to age 69 and from the Yucatan to Michigan to Japan all crammed into the large kitchen. Jesse sits on a bar stool at the kitchen counter with Hanzo balancing on his lap, with Marshall standing by them and tiny little Guadalupe sitting on the counter. They all hold hands, linking a single chain around the whole room. The cowboy breathes in the warm scent of his lover's hair while Gran’mama’s calm, creaking voice says grace.
“Dear lord above, we thank you. You provide us with food with which we fill this table, with family with which to fill these chairs, and with love with which to fill this air. Dear lord, we thank you for this meal, and for bringing our family together. We thank you for returning Marshall home safely, and for helping Jesse find his way back. Thank you Lord.”
A gentle hum of amen echos as Gran'mama McCree wipes her cheek. A heavy silence is immediately interrupted by the little kids digging in. The whole family wordlessly follows, clinking dishes and sipping drinks. They only made pancakes and bacon, but the McCree women made enough to feed their army.
Hanzo and Jesse take turns offering each other bites of flapjack, kissing fingertips and giggling. Marshall chuckles, watching one of the Alex twins wipe Guadalupe's face for the tenth time.
“You two look just like your parents,” the sheriff finally chimed in. Both Jesse and his partner turn to look, and sure enough, they're feeding each other blueberries and sharing a glass.
“You know, Jesse. I have not had a formal introduction to your family. Only those who asked last evening.” Shimada twists on his lover's lap to stare expectantly. Marshall playfully mimics him to the side; it takes the 2-year-old smearing his milk-soaked sticky pancake concoction onto his eldest cousin's pristine mustache to make Jesse’s poker face crack.
“Alright, alright! Hop up,” he finally says, playfully pushing Hanzo off. Of course he catches himself ( gracefully, too ), then stands on the footholds to hover over the heads of the whole McCree family. Jesse picks up his glass of hand-squeezed orange juice and rings it with the handle of a clean spoon. Everyone looks up, and Alexander--one of the twins--reaches up to refill his cup. He stares, allowing it, and takes a sip.
“Everyone, I have done a dreadful sin by not formally introducin’ y’all to the newest member of the McCree family. Say howdy to Hanzo Shimada, my fiancé!” Jesse said; he set his glass down and put his arm around said boyfriend’s waist. He starts pointing out faces, one by one.
“That there is Gran’mama McCree, the oldest known McCree and the hardest bitch to live out in these plains.”
“I am Marisela Martinez,” she said, bowing her head humbly. “This is my daughter Esmeralda, and her husband Elijah Keith.”
“My parents,” Jesse pipes in .
The heads of household bow politely, then start pointing out their kids.
“Austin is our big man around the house,” Mrs. McCree says while squeezing his cheek. He flushes hotly, and dad slaps his back.
“Aussie’s en route to take ahold the farm once I can't work no more.”
“My lil Bluejay, Jane.”
“And Elijah Keith, Jr.”
“Keith,” Esmeralda corrected lovingly. “And my little Paul.”
The main family sitting at the table turn to Marshall to introduce the cousins. He takes a second to notice, and quickly scoops up the tiny tot off the counter.
“This lil tyke is Guadalupe. My nephew; sister died in labor, a real tragedy. Especially after the pregnancy was forced on her. We're all takin’ turns watching him,” the sheriff starts. “I saw you fightin’ Olivia last night. She's my girl, my pride an’ joy. A real fighter, gonna be one hell of a shot when she joins the rangers. My aunt and uncle--your parents--are helping look after her while my wife travels to New York for a doctor's degree.” Olivia beams at her praise, rolling on her feet and grinning at her proud, loving father.
“And meet the quiet tag team. Alex and Alex.”
“I am Alexander, I respond to Alex and Xander,” the apparent boy out of the identical pair says, turning to his sister when he's done.
“I'm Alexandra, or Alexis. Sometimes Sandra or Sandy. Al… Aly… But I like Alex the most,” she said.
“And me. Sheriff Marshall McCree, who you are quite acquainted with.”
Hanzo stands silently, taking in all the faces and names and absorbing his new family eagerly. Jesse wonders if he feels lonely, not having Genji with him. His only place in this cluttered mix of settlers and farmhands is his boyfriend; McCree stares at his lover with all the compassion and support a man can portray with a look alone. Shimada smiles cutely and bows his head, hopping off the stool and into Jesse's strong arms.
Breakfast dissolves into a mess of conversation and oversharing, eating scraps and cleaning dishes as a family. The kids wander off to explore the farm house, eager to get started on their pre-chore play break. During the shuffling and storytelling, Hanzo ends up carrying Guadalupe, holding the child to his chest tenderly. Jesse weaves through his parents’ conversation to his partner, resting a hand onto the man's shoulder.
Shimada silently peels away at the familiar gesture, and the two stand alone in the family room with the little toddler sleeping peacefully, for the time being.
“He is so small,” Hanzo said quietly.
“Well he's a baby, Han. Whaddayou expect?” Jesse responded.
“We can't have kids…” Shimada whispered.
Jesse curled his lip and took Guadalupe from his boyfriend, clutching him to his chest tenderly. “I ain’t broke, y’know.”
“I,” Hanzo started, paused, and stared. “I would never ask that of you.”
There’s a long silence. McCree savors his fiancé’s expression softening as he leans in for a kiss. Inevitably, Guadalupe gets woken and upset, so Jesse sets him down on the floor in the hopes that a little running around will help. He just sits down and starts crying louder.
Hanzo picks up the toddler again, cooing quietly and swaying. Jesse almost looks mystified as he watches; for a minute, he even regrets running out on the family before he could help his Maw with his little siblings.
“Where’d you learn that?” he asked dumbly.
Hanzo stares at him contemplatively. “Instinct.”
“You’d make a mighty fine father, Hanzo.”
His lover beams, and Jesse feels his heart lift. They tuck Guadalupe down for a nap and decide it’s high time they get a bath, since the morning cleanup is finishing in the kitchen. McCree leads Shimada down to the creek, alone and isolated from any prying eyes, with the promise of Maw to not allow any of the young'uns to come down until they’re finished.
Jesse enjoys getting to watch Hanzo slip out of his clothes again. He gets caught up and forgets to undress himself, so he eagerly holds his arms out when Shimada moves to do it for him. The two both gawk at each other, getting to take in and examine each other’s muscles and hips and legs and body uncovered for the first time. McCree puts his hand onto his lover’s chest stupidly, and he chuckles, his whole rib cage swelling up into his touch with every breath.
The cowboy flashes a cheeky grin before he shoves his fiancé into the water. Hanzo doesn’t go down alone; he stumbles and grabs Jesse’s wrist, pulling him in, too. They hit the water with a hard splash and swim to a more shallow depth, until they can get a good footing in the mud.
McCree abandons the creek entirely, dripping wet and slowly returning to their clothes.
“I do not believe the bath is finished,” Hanzo shouted, remaining still.
Jesse grins and tosses a rock at him. He dunks under the water to avoid it and springs back up; McCree jumps into the river immediately, shouting, and retrieves the object.
“I thought you’d appreciate the soap, c’mon,” he whined.
“Perhaps you should offer it to me in a manner that does not trigger my fight or flight response,” he said cooly.
Jesse sighed heavily and leaned his forehead on Hanzo’s shoulder. The two held the position until McCree felt a tickle. He curled away from the touch, shrieking joyously as Shimada follows up. He tries to avoid it by dunking completely under the water, but those searching hands follow him.
He’d apparently released the soap when he went up to the surface to wipe off his eyes. Hanzo’s ticklish touches suddenly feel much more firm, rubbing the fat bar on Jesse’s skin soothingly. He freezes, then shifts as needed to make it more comfortable on his lover.
Hanzo rubs the cowboy down completely. Even going under water to get his legs and feet, then pops up gasping for air with his hair glued to his face and neck. It’s really, really nice.
“Are you done yet, ducky?” Jesse asked cooly. Shimada grins, chucking the soap at him with the same strength as he’d received it. That’s probably going to bruise.
McCree chuckles fondly as he slides behind his lover to reciprocate the relaxing wash. He feels Hanzo’s tight muscles loosen beneath his massaging hands, watching the dirt and grime peel away with the licking waves. The two wind up spending the better part of the whole morning enjoying each other.
They pull away from the creek and dry each other off with Jesse’s shirt, then lay back on the dusty rock, prone and alone, while the sun warms their skin.
“Jesse?” Hanzo starts, turning his head to look at his partner.
“Mmm?” Jesse murmurs, turning back. He blinks when he receives a kiss. A happy silence returns as the cowboy rolls on top of his partner, to return the surprise. They allow their hands to traverse sun-baked skin calmly. Then, slowly, McCree forces himself to his feet and tugs Hanzo up with him.
They get dressed again and return back to the house on clouds, hand-in-hand. They miss lunch, but don’t care enough to get in a twist about it.
Jesse peels away to help Marshall and his Paw out with the animals, while Hanzo helps inside with the little ones. The cowboy spends the afternoon out in the hot sun, sweating away and dirtying up all that cleaning he wasted the morning on. He and the boys wander back inside, laughing and patting each other’s backs. Dinner’s already set up--chicken and cornbread and greenbeans--and everyone’s getting seated just like breakfast.
Hanzo is sitting on the same stool as this morning, with Guadalupe sitting on his lap. Jesse stays in the doorway, watching mystified. It takes one of the twins tugging on him to actually coax the McCree over to his fiance. Shimada looks up with a blissful smile as Jesse takes his seat. Maw says grace, and the family digs in again.
“You’ve takin’ quite the shinin’ to Guadalupe, haven’t you?” Jesse asked, leaning his elbow on the table so he can prop his chin up. The toddler attempts to get a green bean stuck in the cowboy’s beard, but Hanzo peels it off and feeds it to him instead.
“Do you wish to settle down, Jesse?” he asks calmly, foolishly diverting his attention from the nibbling child to McCree.
“Like, pack up the wanderin’ and make ourselves a farm, settle down?” he said.
“Yes. I intended to save the suggestion for when we are older, or perhaps more experienced in our marriage. Settling permanently was always my end goal for America. The horseback have been an excellent adventure, but I still want a permanent residence someday.” Hanzo’s eyes are soft. Anxiety pangs hard in Jesse’s stomach as he wonders just how long his partner has kept this question wrapped up, waiting for the right moment to say it. Shimada’s staring eventually pulled his husband out of his trance.
“I can’t say whether or not I’m ready to settle down, not after so many years roamin’. I can’t guarantee I’ll stay stuck if we ever do build us a farmhouse, either,” Jesse says carefully. He definitely doesn’t want to come off as having an opinion on the matter. “Why are you askin’ all of a sudden?”
“Jesse McCree. Next month, we are going to join families. As much as I have loved my time in the McCree house, I believe you and I will need space in a new McCree-Shimada home to start our own family.”
“Family?” Jesse stares stupidly.
“Your mother and grandmother agreed,” Hanzo says.
“On?”
“When we have our own place, we may take exclusive custody and care of Guadalupe.”
Jesse freezes. He just went from daydreaming about his gorgeous boyfriend to a soon-to-be married, home-owning father. He takes a while to process the extent of the information, blanking out pretty thoroughly. Shimada waits patiently. Most people are putting their plates up to the wash.
“I reckon I could handle parkin’ my ass down somewhere if that’s the case.”

it’s been emerald green for the longest time but orange seems to be dethroning it at a steady pace
lipstick or chapstick:
i haven’t used chapstick since i was six but i probably should use it again, water is my substitute rn fdghdgh - and i haven’t ever used lipstick in any capacity? so i’d have to go with the former
last song i listened to:
the space traveller’s lullaby | kamasi washington - i’m trying to get through his second album rn (i left off on the second disk yesterday) and while everything he makes is undeniably amazing, it’s? a three hour album? i don’t have the attention span for his spiritual jazz, as great as it is
last movie:

@alyonian
color(s): light colors are always nice and pleasant, though anything peachy and sandy are the best! orange (specially pastel orange) is like. the best thing
last band t-shirt i bought: usually merchandising is very expensive and i dont have the money to accommodate that, but like. i do recall having a wiggles shirt when i was five. i wore it all the time, shjdjgsksd im sure that counts
last band i saw live: i almost went to splendor in the grass last year with family, which wasn't only cool since i’ve never been out of the state since i immigrated - the festival was in queensland, which is around a two hour flight from victoria - but the lineup was pretty fuckin lit too! the xx, haim, peking duk, tash sultana, future islands, vallis alps, a.b original,, i was p excited! unfortunately my uncle fell ill and so they had to give the tickets to extended family :( otherwise, i haven't been to a single concert in my life
last song i listened to: street fighter mas | kamasi washington - up to this song on the album and i really fuckin dig this! also the video is hypnotizing
last movie i watched: monsters inc is about to finish and up next is monsters university! which like…. honestly, this is an extremely unpopular opinion but, i like it just as much as the original? my opinion might be skewed because i’m a monster [hugger], but i like everything abt the movie! except for the finale of the scare games and the last five minutes of the movie, both were just. dreadful.
last three tv shows i watched: if aggretsuko counts that’s the last series i watched of my own volition, which is a miracle in itself considering that’s legit only the second anime i’ve watched to completion (the first being shirokuma cafe, which i probably need to re-watch). otherwise, the last two shows i had beared witness to were thirteen reasons why and queer eye bc my cousin put them on! that first show i could completely do without but queer eye is iconique
last 3 characters i identified with: grimlock (legit. all of them), urdnot grunt (mass effect) and vector the crocodile (sth), i’m not sure what this says about me other than Big
book(s) i’m currently reading: i’m reading ‘maus’ by art spiegelman at the moment, for the third time i believe? i believe my classmates are supposed to be writing an essay on this next term and shit, this novel is heartbreaking, i haven't been this emotional when reading a book than… ever, really. it’s a recommendation of the highest caliber

.dating!doyoung pt.one.
.foreign fan (maybe a p.o.c.) and doyoung.
.as i said before, if the characteristics don’t pertain to you, just swap it out with whatever.
(.i already hate proofreading but tumblr wants to make it even more difficult for. me by not saving my drafts so this is out a day later than it was supposed to be.)
His look 👀:
The Weather ☀️:
It’s Summer!
How you two meet 💘:
you’ve been exploring around Seoul nonstop since you’ve moved there 🇰🇷
you usually take the subway to get around, which is where you find yourself now, boarding one that would take you back to your apartment 🚇
there are two stops before your own, but on the first the car empties quite a bit; it’s only you, a tired old woman, and a male sitting a bench away from you 💺
you’ve had the same nct song stuck in your head since you’ve boarded
so you take your headphone case from your bag and rifle for your phone 🎧
you’re worried that you might have lost it somewhere when you don’t find it right away
so you set the case down and continue looking 😟
you don’t notice how the round case rolls off of the seat and onto the floor, not stopping until it hits the foot of the male passenger
you breathe a sigh of relief when you find your phone, but pause when your headphone case is held out to you
you look up, and your breath catches because there’s no way that it’s who you think it is
you tell yourself that it’s not kim doyoung, a main vocalist of nct 💘
your pulse picks up as you reach for the case; it’s so small, there’s no way your fingers wouldn’t touch
you thank him as you take it from him, and your fingers touch his just as you expected; though its brief, you can feel the warmth of his skin against yours
you wonder if he could tell that your hand was shaking
he bows in response to your thanks, and you hold the case awkwardly as he returns to his seat
minutes pass and you find yourself still sitting there; maybe it’s because you’re just starstruck, but you can’t be sure because this has never happened to you before 🌟
after imagining meeting your fave for so long, had you thought about his height? or how nice his features would look up close?
you spare a glance his way, but startle a bit when your gaze meets his 💓
he doesn’t look away; instead the corners of his mouth lift in a smile
you hesitate, but manager to return it before you have to look away
your face feels super hot and you might pass out from the excitement if you don’t
when you feel his gaze leave you for a moment, you find yourself checking your reflection in the window across from you 💄
it was super humid today, did your curls(?) shrink up? was your makeup smudged anywhere–
your hands freeze in shaping your hair as you see his reflection in the window too; he’s been watching you the whole time
his amused smile makes you blush, and you cover your face with your hand in embarrassment; your intentions are so obvious 😶
you’re mentally beating yourself up when someone takes a seat beside you
you can’t get yourself to look up and there are so many questions in your head: what does he want? is he really doyoung or is he just a look alike–
he clears his throat to get your attention, so you take a deep breath and then look up at him
when you meet his gaze, he asks you for your name 💓
you answer right away, because who wouldn’t, and you watch as he offers his hand, giving you his name as well
your heart skips a beat as you shake hands, and doyoung only smiles when he sees how hard it is for you to fight your smile; he thinks it’s really cute (he’s enamored with you already, girl 💖💖💖)
he assumed that you could speak at least some Korean, but the more you talk, the more your knowledge of the language surprises him (good thing you’ve been practicing, right?👍🏽)
he asks you how long you’ve been there and how you like it; it takes a lot of commitment to move to another country, especially one with a different language, and he’s very interested in your reason
you two end up talking about your different cultures and music and things like that
you have a lot in common too
How he gets your number 📲:
you two lapse into silence at some point
you wait, because it seems like doyoung wants to say something, but he just doesn’t speak up 😓
and you felt that you two were getting along really well, so all you can think is ‘what happens now?’
you can feel him looking at you, maybe he’s building up his nerve now
you continue to wait anxiously, hoping he says something soon
and just when he thinks of something to say
just when he turns to try and say it
your stop arrives and it’s time for you to get off 😟
doyoung freezes as you stand from your seat and collect your things
you’re a bit put off that you have to go too, but you smile and bow him in goodbye
he repeats the gesture, but not as enthusiastically
🙁🙁🙁
you’ve just reached the top of the steps when you hear someone calling your name
and you turn just in time to see doyoung reach the top of the steps 😥
you’re super confused because why would he have to follow you out here?
and that’s when he shows you your headphone case
you can’t believe you forgot it!
and you feel super bad that he ran all this way to get them to you when honestly they only cost like five bucks
—and he will never let you live this down when you tell him later down the road, believe me sis—
you thank him but also apologize profusely, but he tells you it’s really no big deal even though he’s stranded here because of you
he says he’ll catch the next subway, so you offer to wait with him; you don’t even hesitate
you hope that you didn’t seem to forward, but doyoung smiles, and he seems pleased as he accepts your offer
the wait was only ten or so minutes, but time goes by quickly as you talk to each other ⏲
so the subway comes and you both hate that the time to say goodbye has come again
but as you both stand, doyoung hands you his phone 📱
his kakao is open, and as you put your information in you can’t help but smile
when he takes his phone back, doyoung promises to talk to you soon
and once he boards, you two wave goodbye; it isn’t as sad anymore 👋🏽
as you’re walking home, you get a message
'Get home safe, okay?’
How you really start dating 💖:
you two have been talking for a bit now
but you two don’t really get to meet in person
you can feel the chemistry, especially when you speak over the phone
doyoung is super sweet, and it’s obvious he has your wellbeing at heart
he can tell how interested you are in his culture, and he’s always suggesting places you could go
but you’re secretly wishing that maybe he would offer to take you himself 💓
it happens when your phone calls have become routine
doyoung says something that pushes your relationship to the next level
’Maybe…I could show you some of the places I’ve told you about this weekend?’ 💓💓
How soon in he asks you to be his 💞:
Two months in 💞
(He’s a cancer moon, okay?)
The End 💖
This took so long and I’m sorry about that. I’m in college and one of my four classes ends March 8 so I’ll have more time then. Also, I’m not sure if I’ll do another member’s part one or doyoung’s part two next, but look forward to it!
Jaehyun + Johnny are already done.

Who Are The Republicans In The House Of Representatives
New Post has been published on https://www.patriotsnet.com/who-are-the-republicans-in-the-house-of-representatives/
Who Are The Republicans In The House Of Representatives
A Note About Room Numbering
2020 Election: GOP maintains control of Texas House of Representatives | KVUE
The three primary House office buildingsCannon, Longworth and Rayburnshare a room numbering system for above-ground rooms that might confuse visitors at first.; The system is fairly straight forward and can be used to identify most member and committee offices merely by knowing the correct room number regardless of building.
All Cannon above-ground rooms are three digits.; As you would expect, the first digit indicates the floor level.; For example, 303 Cannon is on the 3rd floor.
All above-ground Longworth rooms are four digits and start with the number 1.; The second digit from the left indicates the floor.; For example, 1309 is on the third floor of the Longworth building.
All above-ground Rayburn rooms are also four digits, but start with a 2. The second digit indicates the floor number. For example, 2125 is on the first floor of Rayburn.
U.S. House of Representatives
Here Are All Of The House Republicans Who Voted To Impeach Donald Trump
Ten members of the GOP joined with Democrats in the vote.
President Donald Trump impeached for ‘incitement of insurrection’
The House of Representatives has voted to impeach President Donald Trump — making him the only president in American history to be impeached twice.
Unlike his first impeachment in 2019, 10 Republicans joined Democrats to charge Trump for the “incitement of insurrection” for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol with a final vote of 232-197.
Some Republicans may have feared for their own safety if they voted for impeachment, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, one of those who voted against Trump, said. Kinzinger told ABC’s “Powerhouse Politics” podcast that some members of his party are likely holding back from voting for impeachment due to fear of highlighting their own participation in supporting the president’s false claims of election fraud.
Democrat Jason Crow, of Colorado, relayed similar thoughts in an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday morning.
“I had a lot of conversations with my Republican colleagues last night, and a couple of them broke down in tears talking to me and saying that they are afraid for their lives if they vote for this impeachment,” he said.
Here is a list of the 10 Republicans who took a stance against Trump:
Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill.“It’s not going to be some ‘Kumbaya moment’ on the floor — it’s going to be an awakening by the American people to hold their leaders accountable to their rhetoric,”
Changes To House Rules
After Democrats took control of the House in the 116th Congress, they voted to change some rules from the previous session of Congress when Republicans were in control. Some of the changes appear below.
PAYGO: Democrats approved PAYGO, a provision that requires legislation that would increase the deficit to be offset by spending cuts or revenue increases.
Ethics: Democrats made changes to House ethics rules that required all House members to take ethics training, not just new members. The rules also required members to reimburse taxpayers for settlements that that result from a members discrimination of someone based on race, religion, sex, national origin, or disability, among other things. Lawmakers were also prohibited from sitting on corporate boards.
Climate change committee: Democrats created a new climate change committee to address the issue. The committee was not given subpoena power or the ability to bring bills to the floor.
A full explanation of the rules changes can be viewed here.

Tim Scott Only Black Gop Senator Set To Respond To Biden
WASHINGTON Tim Scott, the only Black Republican senator, is often happy to dart past Capitol Hill reporters without saying much. This time, he and the spotlight have found each other.
Brought up by a single mother who worked backbreaking hours as a nursing assistant, the 55-year-old Scott has spent a decade in Congress representing South Carolina. Now, the lawmaker who combines a willingness to address racial questions with an advocacy of vintage conservative themes such as opportunity and optimism is giving his partys nationally televised response to President Joe Bidens Wednesday night address to Congress.
Scott also is the lead GOP negotiator as the two parties seek an accord on legislation overhauling police procedures. The issue has long eluded compromise despite national attention fanned by last years killing of George Floyd, a Black man, and this months conviction of a former Minneapolis police officer in his slaying.
You figure out who your audience is, you figure out what you want to say and you try and find a way to say it well, Scott told reporters Tuesday about his speech preparations. And you lean into who you are.
GOP leaders choíce of Scott to answer Biden comes at a tense political moment.
Scott, from North Charleston, South Carolina, nearly dropped out of high school. He tells of a life-changing turnabout after befriending a businessman who became a mentor and stressed the value of hard work.

About Legislative Sessions In Colorado
The Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution declares that any power not already given to the federal government is reserved to the states and the people. State governments across the country use this authority to hold legislative sessions where a states elected representatives meet for a period of time to draft and vote on legislation and set state policies on issues such as taxation, education, and government spending. The different types of legislation passed by a legislature may include resolutions, legislatively referred constitutional amendments, and bills that become law.
Article V of the Colorado Constitution establishes when the Colorado General Assembly, of which the House is a part, is to be in session. Section 7 of Article V states that the Assembly is to convene its regular session no later than the second Wednesday of January of each year. Regular sessions are not to exceed one hundred twenty calendar days.
Section 7 also states that the Governor of Colorado can convene special sessions of the General Assembly. Special sessions can also be convened by a two-thirds vote of the members of both legislative houses.

The Impact Of Partisan Gerrymandering
Once a decade, every state redraws its electoral districts, determining which people will be represented by each politician. In many states, this means that politicians gather behind computer screens to figure out how they can manipulate the lines to box out their competition and maximize the power of their political party. While an increasing number of states employ independent commissions to draw district lines, the large majority still lack safeguards to prevent partisan favoritism in the redistricting processalso known as partisan gerrymandering.
It has been almost a decade since the 2010 cycle of redistricting, and the country is still reckoning with the impact. Last May, the Center for American Progress published a report that found that unfairly drawn congressional districts shifted, on average, a whopping 59 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives during the 2012, 2014, and 2016 elections. That means that every other November, 59 politicians that would not have been elected based on statewide voter support for their party won anyway because the lines were drawn in their favoroften by their allies in the Republican or Democratic Party.
Thats democracyelected officials who represent and are accountable to the people. The numbers show that representation in the United States is far from fair, but with straightforward policy changes, citizens can have maps that are fair.

In House Of Representatives An Arithmetic Problem
A variety of smart political observers have suggested that the markets are misreading the situation. Instead, they say, the failure of Mr. Boehners bill makes a deal to avert the so-called fiscal cliff more likely because it has now become clear that any deal will need to rely upon the support of at least some Democrats, which could ease passage through the Democratic-controlled Senate.
Perhaps this is correct. Mr. Boehner has said that the White House and Senator Harry Reid, the majority leader, will now have to take the lead in negotiations. The chance that a fiscal deal will be secured on terms that Democrats find favorable may have increased.
But the chance that there will not be a deal at all may also have increased, or at least not one before protracted negotiations that could harm the economy. The difficulty is in finding any winning coalition of votes in the House of Representatives.
In the diagram below, Ive charted the major coalitions in the incoming 113th Congress, which will convene on Jan. 3. The new House of Representatives will have 233 Republicans and 200 Democrats. Two seats remain vacant, which means that 217 of 433 votes will be required to pass a bill.

South Carolinas 2012 legislative elections were marred by a series of events that eventually led to nearly 250 candidates being removed from the primary ballot. Here is a brief timeline of those events, followed by a detailed account of what happened.
Deadline for candidates to file a required statement of economic interest. Many candidates from both parties fail to do so.
Week of April 16: The State Ethics Commission gives candidates an additional 10 days to turn in the form. Democrats call the decision unfair while Republicans say that they are okay with it.
May 2: The South Carolina Supreme Court rules any candidate who did not file the form must be removed from the ballot. Calls for a rehearing are denied.
May 9: While the Senate attempts to pass legislation to allow challengers back on ballot, attorney Todd Kincannon requests a delay in the primary. Both efforts fail.
Primaries take place as scheduled.

Elections to the U.S. House were held on . All 435 seats were up for election.
In 2010, 54 incumbents lost to challengers in the general election with Republicans swinging 63 total seats in their favor.
Number Of House Members Per State
Unlike the U.S. Senate, which consists of two members from each state, the geographic makeup of the House is determined by the population of each state. The only stipulation spelled out in the U.S. Constitution comes in Article I, Section 2, which guarantees each state, territory or district at least one representative.
The Constitution also states that there can be no more than one representative in the House for every 30,000 citizens.
The number of representatives each state gets in the House of Representatives is based on population. That process, known as reapportionment, occurs every 10 years after the decennial population count conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau.
U.S. Rep. William B. Bankhead of Alabama, an opponent of the legislation, called the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929 an abdication and surrender of vital fundamental powers. One of the functions of Congress, which created the census, was to adjust the number of seats in Congress to reflect the number of people living in the United States, he said.

An Incoming Class Of History
Several of the newly elected state representatives are making history.;
The Republican Madison Cawthorn, 25, who beat the Democrat Moe Davis to represent North Carolinas 11th Congressional District, will become the youngest member of Congress in modern history.
The Democrat Cori Bush is set to become the first Black congresswoman from Missouri after winning in the states 1st Congressional District.
The Democrats Mondaire Jones and Ritchie Torres will also be the first openly gay Black men to serve in Congress, after winning in New Yorks 17th and 15th districts respectively.
And nine out of the eleven Republicans who have so far unseated incumbent Democrats are women wins that will drastically expand the representation of women and especially of women of color in the House Republican caucus.
Currently, there are just 13 voting female Republican representatives in the House and 11 female Republican incumbents who ran for reelection in 2020.
Republicans Can Win The Next Elections Through Gerrymandering Alone
Even if voting patterns remain the same, Republicans could still win more seats in Congress through redistricting
In Washington, the real insiders know that the true outrages are whats perfectly legal and that its simply a gaffe when someone accidentally blurts out something honest.
And so it barely made a ripple last week when a Texas congressman said aloud whats supposed to be kept to a backroom whisper: Republicans intend to retake the US House of Representatives in 2022 through gerrymandering.
We have redistricting coming up and the Republicans control most of that process in most of the states around the country, Representative Ronny Jackson told a conference of religious conservatives. That alone should get us the majority back.
Hes right. Republicans wont have to win more votes next year to claim the US House.
In fact, everyone could vote the exact same way for Congress next year as they did in 2020 when Democratic candidates nationwide won more than 4.7m votes than Republicans and narrowly held the chamber but under the new maps that will be in place, the Republican party would take control.
If Republicans aggressively maximize every advantage and crash through any of the usual guardrails and they have given every indication that they will theres little Democrats can do. And after a 2019 US supreme court decision declared partisan gerrymandering a non-justiciable political issue, the federal courts will be powerless as well.
Don’t Miss: How Many States Are Controlled By Republicans
Cheney Ousted By Us House Republicans But Will Seek Re
WASHINGTON, May 12 – House of Representatives Republicans on Wednesday ejected Liz Cheney from their leadership ranks as punishment for repudiating former U.S. President Donald Trumps false claims of a stolen election, but she remained defiant and made plans to seek re-election to Congress.
Her ouster from her party’s No. 3 post in the Democratic-led House unfolded in mere minutes in a closed-door meeting. The action signaled that Trump, despite losing to Democrat Joe Biden in November, has solidified his hold over House Republicans as he jockeys to play a major role in the 2022 congressional elections and flirts with running for president again in 2024.
Cheney’s decision, disclosed by a spokesperson, to seek re-election next year for a fourth two-year term as the lone House member representing Wyoming appears to set the stage for a clash between competing factions in a Republican Party facing a moment of reckoning over its future – either following Trump’s lead or finding a new path. Six Republicans already have lined up to challenge her in a heavily Republican state that Trump won with about 70 percent of the vote last year.
After her removal, Cheney came out swinging, telling reporters moments later that she would lead the fight to bring her party back to “fundamental principles of conservatism.”
“We must go forward based on truth. We cannot both embrace the big lie and embrace the Constitution,” Cheney said.
‘HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING’
Arguments For Expanding The Number Of House Members
Advocates;for increasing the number of seats in the House say such a move would increase the quality of representation by reducing the number of constituents each lawmaker represents. Each House member now represents about 710,000 people.
The group ThirtyThousand.org argues that the framers of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights never intended for the population of each congressional district to exceed 50,000 or 60,000. “The principle of proportionally equitable representation has been abandoned,” the group argues.
Another argument for increasing the size of the House is that is would diminish the influence of lobbyists. That line of reasoning assumes that lawmakers would be more closely connected to their constituents and therefore less likely to listen to special interests.

What Activists And Democrats Want To Happen
For years, Democrats and activists alike have pushed for an independent redistricting commission to draw Indianas maps. Their argument is that only an independent group can do so without party influence.;
But Republicans have long stifled any legislation that would make that change.;
Now activists such as Common Cause and;All IN for Democracy; and Democrats alike are asking for a transparent process with more time for analysis of the proposed maps and public comment after the proposed maps are released.;

PART 2
PART 1/2
Jeon Jungkook. It was a name so familiar to your lips that saying it would be no different to breathing air. It was a name you found comfort in, a name you called at times of trouble, misery, despair, happiness, and all sorts of things. It was also a name you screech at the top of your lungs at seven in the morning at a bus stop.
“Jeon, do you even use your new phone for the right reasons?” you hissed, fingers crumpling the collar of his blazer as soon as he was in your reach. You drag him up to the bus, scanning both of your cards (which you kept at all times because Jungkook, that darned boy, could never remember to bring his own shit).
“Duh,” he answered matter-of-factly, panting as he uses your shoulder for support. “Gotta catch all them Pokemons!”
You rolled your eyes at his statement, about to head to your usual spot until you felt yourself slightly pushed to the side. He beats you to the window seat this time, focusing his attention on Seoul’s lovely morning sight. Meanwhile, you stood with your arms crossed, a foot tapping against the soft floor of the bus. “Excuse me?”
Jungkook looks up to you, eyes fluttering as he innocently hums a ‘hm?’.
“That is my spot.”
The boy blinks, turning his head to check the headrest. “Don’t see your name written on it.”
Jeon Jungkook, you almost forgot, was a name that irritated you as much as it comforted you. But instead of arguing for it, you grumpily took a seat next to him, hugging your bag in annoyance. He chuckles in return, a breathy light-hearted one, as he slung his arm around your shoulders. It gave you a good view of him as he focused back on the scenery.
You never really noticed how good-looking Jungkook really was. That was an understatement. Jungkook was a total definition of a man. He had a jawline that even guys would fawn over, veins in the right place that girls would gladly count(creepy thought though), and big sparkly eyes that you would give in to any time you fought. Jungkook was breathtaking.
Jeon Jungkook was more than just a name to you. It was more than just a popular example at college that girls threw around when asked about their ideal type.
It was the name tag you first read in fifth grade after a couple of guys picked on your for your quirky pigtails. The owner being a chubby classmate of yours who helped you up and told you your pigtails were cute after he pulled both of them and ran. You cried, yes, but he scared away anyone else who made you cry, claiming only he had the right to do so.
It was your playdate in sixth grade that your mother had endlessly and excitedly talked about the previous night. You were definitely surprised to see him on the playground with his mom. There was an awkward silence for the first few minutes, until he spoke what you’ve been holding back to say. ‘Aren’t we too old for playdates?’
It was your first girl friend’s crush and a name she later on hated. Jungkook was notorious in his younger days for being such a heartbreaker. Unfortunately, you were his bestfriend and the target of stickly thin, baby-faced eighth grader girls’ hatred. It was alright. He promised to buy you pancakes every morning.
It was the caller ID you see every day after school in the ninth grade and up until now. It was ddukbokki on Mondays, kimbap on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and ramen on Thursdays and Fridays.
It was a name you grew to love and hate at the same time. Jungkook was your bestfriend, your other half, basically your family. It was a name that was like air to you, you were so used to it - yet why did your heart suddenly decide it was okay to skip a beat?
It had been weeks since you felt that first thump in your heart. Every day, you started to understand why Jungkook was so appealing to the rest of the female population. Sure you knew he had a very nice face, you knew he wasn’t particularly good at books and papers, but he was the star of each and every sports team there was at your institution. Of course, you knew that if he gave enough interest, he would be the class genius as well. Jungkook was a modern prince - courageous, attractive as hell, and most importantly, he was so kind. At least to you. It scared you. It scared you how the reasons were getting clearer and clearer.
Jungkook always sits next to you whenever a chance is given. Today was one of those days. He slides ever so smoothly to your right poking your cheek as you chugged a glass of milk. “Whatcha doin’, ugly?”
You roll your eyes, an instinctive response at whatever he says. “What do you want?”
He let out an overly-dramatic, high-pitched, K-drama laugh. “Watch a movie with me,” he whined.
“Don’t I always? Like, every Friday?” you raised an eyebrow.
Jungkook grins, suddenly pouting and poking his index fingers at each other, before clinging at your arm. “I wuv you.”
Normally, you’d wince, throw something at his face. You’d be repelled by his ugly cutesy act. But there it was again, that thump. Then another, and then it got to the point where your heart was a beating mess. Fuck, you thought.
He looks up at you, smirking smugly. “Are you blushing?” he coos. “Cute.”
Then your heart was on overdrive.
Days had passed since then and now you were at his house, in the lousiest outfit you have ever put together, not really minding it since it was only Jungkook who’d seen you this way. You let yourself feel comfortable on his bed, which was almost like a second bed to you anyways.
Waiting for him to come back, you decided to set up the movie on his laptop. To your surprise, he had a password. It was strange. Jungkook was a careless and reckless man. He had no time for such things as passwords. Hell, he’d probably forget his own password. You shrugged it off anyways. You had no idea what his password would be though, but you tried anyways.
ironman97
Wrong.
ironman
Wrong.
You searched through all the possibilities in your head. Jungkook may have put a password but you were sure it was nothing complicated. After all these years, the one thing you really learned about him was that he was not a man who was into complication.
leejieun97
Correct.
What an idiot, you thought. An idiot fanboy. Of course, his love for IU never ceases. You roll your eyes and waited for it to load. He left his Facebook page open and your heart crumbled a little. Everything was the same as you had always seen except for that open chat box beside yours. Jungkook was seeing someone?
A gasp snapped you out of your ten second misery and, in your panic, you minimized the browser.
“How did you know my password?” he breathed out, placing a hand over his mouth.
“Well, genius, leejieun97?”
He blushed and threw a chocolate bar at you. “Shut up! IU gives me life.”
He jumps into the bed, an awkward silence filled you both as you stared at the desktop view. You could feel a tense aura.
“So, you saw, huh?” he finally spoke up.
It took you a second to answer. “Yeah.”
“I was gonna tell you, I swear,” he tries to apologize, hugging you from behind. You didn’t see why he needed to. It was his life after all.
You let out a half-hearted chuckle.” Congrats, loser, your ugly ass finally got a girlfriend.”
“Um, sweetheart, this,” he points to his face. “...is almost as good as your Hyungsik.”
You blinked. “Okay, coconut head ass lookin bitch.”
“Excuuuuuuse me?!” he bellowed as he pounced on you to tickle you.
That was the first time you felt uncomfortable being in the same room with him. For some reason, you wanted to go home, stay in bed all day. You didn’t understand why you hated it, but through out the thrilling scenes of Iron Man where Jungkook gleefully cheered for his favorite superhero, you realized.
You liked him.

annual writing self-evaluation
All answers should be about works published in 2017.
i was tagged by @tommostummie TYSM 💘
1. List of works published this year:
murmur, all our younger years, and all the stars aligned
2. Work you are most proud of (and why):
from what’s finished and published, all our younger years by far. it was like the first time i felt committed to getting out a good piece of fic i knew people would be reading, plus i was gifting it so i felt like i had to make it really good. also it was the first fic i actually planned out which makes it feel really special !!! as for my wips, my current one is by far my best work and i can’t wait for when it’s complete
3. Work you are least proud of (and why):
i used to be super proud of murmur but since then ive realized what im capable of as a writer. i kind of wrote that one randomly one weekend, like i just felt like it?? so i didn’t rly put research into it or anything, i just did it. and i still absolutely love it, just not as much as the other ones ive posted this year.
4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
im not gonna put the whole thing here bc it’s hella long, BUT the scene in all our younger years where they break into the football stadium at night and harry realizes he’s in love with louis:
This felt so raw and real and something about the look on Louis’ face, giddiness and contentment and blissful oblivion to the rest of the world, tugged on Harry’s heart and pulled at his stomach and made him a little dizzy and a little drunk on something... something he knew was different and new and sad and good and beautiful and heartbreaking.
SO YEAH also there’s an upcoming scene in my big wip i am hyped about involving harrys hair which some people may know about ;;))
5. Share or describe a favorite comment you received:
all the times my gcs were freaking out whenever i sent an excerpt were hilarious dbdjsjb but by far the best comment ive received was by @alohonora on and all the stars aligned. it was honestly one of the loveliest things ive ever read and we’re friends now!!
6. A time when writing was really, really hard:
when i was about halfway through aoyy. tbh i just hated everything and hated the story and everything felt wrong, but now i have techniques and i know what to do if i ever get stuck. during aoyy i was kind of just hoping i wouldn’t fjjdjfjd
7. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
the first kiss scene in aoyy!! i planned it as this beautiful moment, like i wanted it to be starlit and glimmering and gorgeous but they ended up fighting on the side of a highway and then harry ended up kissing louis and it was honestly wild
8. How did you grow as a writer this year:
this was the first year ive actually written larry fic!! ive been a larrie for a lot longer than ive been writing it but this year was the first time i had the confidence to post my fics and share my work
9. How do you hope to grow next year:
i want to finish all the drafts that have been sitting in docs for months now. i have three practically untouched fics and a whole list of ideas and i just want to write what makes me happy!
10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
all my gcs have been absolutely amazing and helpful, but i rly have to thank @foolsghld for being my first beta ever and @hellaplantsjpg, @bibi-harry, @sweaterpawslou, @tommostummie, @hohohoharryloumas AND SO MANY MORE PPL WHO HELPED ME ILY ALL
11. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year:
i don’t think so ??? except the first conversation between harry and louis in aoyy where louis talks about goldfish is a real thing my brother and i have discussed
12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
tbh im the worst person to ask for advice but just write what makes you happy?? at the end of the day (buy it on itunes) you’re writing for yourself and you don’t need to force yourself to crank out an idea that makes you miserable!
13. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
my @1dbigbang fic. it’s what ive been wanting to write all year and it’s FINALLY happening, the idea inspires me so much (dystopian) and i love everything about it and it’s my pride and joy, ive literally been working towards this fic since i became a larry writer and ahhh im just so excited
14. Tag three writers/artists whose answers you’d like to read.
OK imma tag,, @foolsghld, @rosealouis, and @mxybeimissyou :D

____________________________________________________________
PART 1
WHY WRITE AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY? Of course, its about the life of Christian Mark Christian but I intend to go into deeper themes as well:
1. God. If you are averse to God or Judaeo-Christian concepts about God, I hope you will not be “put off” by occasional references I will have to make in the course of remembering my life. My plan is not to be IN YOUR FACE about God but spiritual seeking has always been a huge part of my life and to omit this part would be to make the whole story a big lie.
2. VALUE - how we value our lives and our identity is critical to me and my development as a man. There is a fine line between thinking we are “so great that someone needs to write a book about us” and “our lives dont matter.” I have struggled GREATLY my whole life with feelings that my life isnt important, that I dont matter, that Ive been rejected and abandoned. Writing this will be the greatest therapy I can imagine. Writing this is telling myself, reminding myself, that I AM IMPORTANT and SO ARE YOU.
3. Autobiography in the age of Interactivity. I’m not sure how many projects like this have been published online or in print but the thought occured to me that an autobiography can be, for the first time in history, more than a “book;” it can be an interactive EXPERIENCE. I can include links in my writing that take the reder to the places I am referencing.
4. “To know is to love.” Honestly one thing that has always frustrated and disappointed me is that I feel like many or even MOST people “dont get me.”
Too often I hear the word “weird” to describe me, when I would prefer to hear “unique” or “unusual.” I really am not even a fan of the word “eccentric.”
Was Steve Jobs “weird?” Was Van Gogh “weird.”? Is Elon Musk “weird?”
My feeling is that “weird” is considered a negative connotation or description, one I do not want and one that is hurtful when used to describe me. I dont feel like anyone who really knows me would ever call me “weird.” So,one huge function of this book is to eradicate the word “weird” as a description of Christian Mark Christian, once and for all and replace it with UNIQUE or RARE.
Yeah, through no choice of my own, I’ve endured some things that are not typical of most lives.
My dad’s suicide and that, co-inciding with the loss, at the same time, (divorce) of my Step-Dad.
Millions have lost a Dad or a step dad through divorce or suicide but not as many have suffered both losses in the same year.
Genius level IQ at age 7.
Grew up around the world.
Shared a 2-bedroom apartment with my Mom, until I got married at age 44.
Living with my ex-wife in an apartment in Hollywood, in an effort to heal and reconcile.
Yeah-these are not typical of todays American “man”. I’m not “proud” of these things; nor am I ashamed of these things; I never planned on my life going the way it did.
Regardless-when I became a Christian, at age 36,when I was “Born again,” I Iearned that God (if you choose to believe) “makes all things new” and “uses everything-even negative things, for eventual and ultimate good.”
Regardless of the pain and tragedy I’d experienced, I was taught that it would all be used in a positive way, in time.
Maybe this BOOK is that “positive way.” Maybe some who can relate will get a degree of emotional healing by reading; thats certainly my hope.
But “to know is to Love.” I feel confident that many of my friends, in reading this book, will get to know me much better and in that, will be able to love me more. And who doesnt want to be loved.... and loved some more?

part I
I was a second and final son, born seven years after my brother, into a USAF family, in Altus, Oklahoma. WWII was far enough behind but had left scars on my pilot Dad's psyche.
James (Jim) Charles Ralph, my Dad, dreamed of being an artist/illustrator for Foote, Cone & Belding, a top advertising agency. His creative dreams were cut short when the US let go of an isolationist foreign policy, geared up for war and he was drafted as a 19 year old, into the skies over his ancestral homeland (Germany.)
As I understand it, Pearl Harbor "woke" us to the need to become involved again in foreign wars. Isolationist foreign policy would become a relic of the past; we quickly entered a war on several continents.
Dad had grown up in Glendale, CA. a suburb that has since become a major Armenian cultural enclave in L.A. Ironic that I sit here typing this around eighty years later--a few miles west in another little enclave (part of Hollywood) officially called "Little Armenia." It really shows me that the themes and threads and patterns of life are stronger than we might think. In my case, I’ve been told that the Apple hasnt fallen far from the tree.”
Armenia was, historically, the first place in the world where the name "Christian" was used to denote a follower of Christ. My primary care physician is Armenian and I am friends with several Armenians, so there seems to be a connection here, maybe one that will be explored in more depth as I write this...
-or maybe not.
The marriage was tempestuous. Jim, returning from the war and stationed at McDill AFB in Tampa, was driving a convertible and, the story goes, saw my Mom, Terry-a pretty young teen who modeled fashions for a local Department store. He was a handsome "flyer" or "Airman" and she fell for him, unaware of a Church background that would eventually drive a wedge between her his family.
My paternal Grandmother, Carolyn Care, was a devout "Christian Scientist” as my Aunt still is, at age 90-something.
She would insist that my Mom, who was a typical American mainstream Protestant Christian, submit to her and the Churches doctrine. "Science" is about the idea that all things are merely the projection of "mind" and that evil or sickness cant exist unless we agree with it and "project" it (wrongful thinking) on ourselves. I always questioned this growing up. Even at a young age, I sensed something about it I had trouble with. Later, as an adult who accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior through various “Word of Faith” ministries, I saw that there was at least partial truths in “Science” even though I still could not follow Mary Baker Eddy’s doctrine in it’s entirety.
Apparently, several months pregnant with me, my Mom contracted pnuemonia or a similar ailment. Carolyn insisted that Terry not see the physician at the Altus Air Force base hospital but turn to a "Christian Science" practitioner instead. Rebelling finally, my Mom went to see the doctor at the base. He supposedly told her that, had she waited even another day, she might have lost the baby (me.)
Only a few years later, at a Base in San Antonio, Texas, the troubled marriage fell apart with my Mom falling in love with my Pediatrician. I had asthma, most likely something that was brought on by the stress of my parents troubled marriage and she routinely brought me to see him at the base. Regardless of whether I chose to make these things a focus or no
t, they did shape who I choose to be today. I was raised from age 6-7 to 18, by a Pediatrician step-Dad (with my Mom) but my Paternal families Christian Science also had a strong influence on my thinking.
It was an incredible duality and one I'm doubtful that many (or any?) others have experienced: a parental control and influence struggle between the ideals of Big pharm/modern medicine and "christian science," between the medical establishment and the "alternative healing" movements that originated in Christian metaphysical camps in19th century America.
Today, Health Care is probably the biggest debate in America. And the debate rages around the same two poles- alternative healing vs traditional medicine. Having deep experiential knowledge of both, puts me in a very unique position. Seeking, finding and practicing right doctrine ("righteousness") is central to my life and you can see why: wrong doctrine might have aborted me before I was born. RIght doctrine might have saved my life. The truth about God, his Love and his healing power, is not just "armchair theology" or something I engage in on special Holidays; its always at the core of every decision I make, every day of my life.
PART II
After surviving my Moms sickness and coming into this world as "Mark James Ralph," my first memory of infancy comes from our two story home in Cambridge, UK. where we moved when I was about 2?
My Dad was stationed at Alconbury AFB, about 25 miles away from Cambridge. I actually remember climbing out of my 2nd floor crib and crawling down the stairs, into the living area where my parents and 8 or 9 yr old brother were gathered!
Eventually I started walking and my best friend, a Brit, Andrew lived across the street.
We lived near open land where some Cows lived. I remember a Harvester machine that was called a “Combine” for some reason that I dont know. I guess seeing it up close-the machinery, the complexity, the sheer power. The blades and the wheat being “threshed”. -All biblical themes, impressed me greatly...
We lived in a suburb of Cambridge, near some farmland and near a stand of trees called "the woods."
My first "naked" (sexual) experiences were in Cambridge. I saw a male cow on the other side of the fence I was standing by, attempting to mate, jump up on top of a female cow. I was only a few feet away, on the other side of the fence--what the male cow did was so sudden, so unexpected and seemed -I dont have the word for it- not "brutal" (because it was "love" but invloved thousands of pounds of weight and muscle that could have killed a small child had I been involved!) but maybe just “alarming.” I was only about 4 or 5.
Now I’m going to bring up some very personal, private things that most people only reveal to their therapist. They may or may not end up in the final edit however I feel obligated, because of the name of the book-obligated to include them here...
I also initiated a "curious" childhood intimate encounter with Andrew in my bathroom at that time. I mention this only to bring up the topic of gay indocrination. I have no idea why, to this day but this "gay" encounter did not result in my growing up gay.
A few years later, in Wichita Falls, Texas, I initiated another "curious" encounter with a girl my age. We knelt down beside the wheel well of a car in the parking lot of our Apt complex, "TheTimbers" in the dark, at night, where I lifted her skirt to investigate her private parts.
She seemed to go along with it; at least there were no protests, as there had been none with Andrew. Apparently, I preferred the "female" more than the male because I never again had a sexual encounter with a male. Interesting that I remember Andrews name but not the girls name! Is this kind of thing just wired into our DNA? I think so.
I'm not sure what this says about the "born gay" issue but there it is... The result (I think) of these encounters, was this: even as a very young child, I had strong sexual urges which I had no trouble acting on when the opportunity arose. I dont remember sexual feelings ever becoming obsessive ( a good thing) but they were for sure there.
On another note, I remember walking off with Andrew (I think) into the local "woods." Woods is a cool name that has returned as the Church (M O S A I C) I attend locally uses the word in place of "Hollywood." They have several Campuses and use the term "The Woods" for the Hollywood Campus.
Andrew and I apparently, around age 4-5? decided to go on a hike into the woods one day, without telling anyone. My parents (not sure about his) were pretty upset. When I returned, they were happy I was safe. I never did anything so "adventurous" again. I think that was because I didnt want my parents to be so stressed.
I also remember a somewhat traumatic event around the time I was in my crib: my brother had caught a minnow, in a local stream. He had kept it in a jar aqaurium placed on my windowsill. The disturbing thing was that the fish jumped out of its "cage" (the jar) one day and out the window, falling two stories to its death on the concrete (or something hard) surface below.
By age 4 or 5, I had already seen and/or experienced both sex and death. Hollywood, here I (decades later) came.
Part III
Ahhh, England. I have such fond memories of the years I spent there as a child-truly formative years and I am so deeply thankful that my formative years were spent there. To my best recollection, I spent my 2nd, 3rd and 4th years in Cambridge.
When I began to speak (at a precocious young age) I spoke with an English accent. I remember my Mom dropping me off at "Shrubbery School" for the first time and the fear of abandonment I felt.I remember my first teacher, a wonderful Lady named "Mrs Clark" and how I related that to a candy bar that existed around that time, known as a "Clark Bar."
My Mom dropped my off in our English Sports car-I think it was red, a "Sunbeam Alpine." That car was shipped all the way to Texas eventually and my Mom kept it even through her divorcing my Dad. Cambridge was rich with experience and wonder. I cant imagine a more perfect place for my early years and it left a deep appreciation for Brits in my soul, still there to this day. I would go so far as to even call myself an "Anglophile."
At school, we memorized the multiplication tables and began to learn the alphabet-at age 4! When we moved to San Antonio, TX, -when I was five-the school system there wanted to place me in Kindergarten!
Thank god for the Mt Olive Lutheran School (off the 410 "loop") -where my parents eventually enrolled me. They were still not as advanced as Shrubbery School back in Cambridge, did but at least a better option than public schools.
My mind is flooded with lush beautiful imagery from Cambridge:
-my Mom riding horseback in the countryside with her Horse riding club
(and how later that might have played a factor in two girls I was attracted to and a novel "Diana" that affected me deeply in my teens)
-My brother Christopher playing "conker" with Chestnuts tied to sholeaces! (only the brits would devise a game like this!)
-My brother relating a Jaguar or some other sports car "flying" by his school at some increditble speed. The drama and awe with which he related this formed in me an early apprecation for fast cars, one which has continued to this day.
The "punts" on the Cam river and the gorgeous Colleges in Cambridge, that all seemed to be named after Jesus or Mary!
When I hear Christians acting as though the intellect isnt important now, I cringe. Cambridge was the birthplace of intellectualism and Christian thought. C.S. Lewis lived and worked there. Christianity is the most advanced culture of philosophy and Academic systems. The fact that atheism largely eradicated these roots in the 20th Century is a very sad thing indeed and something I hope my life can be part of reversing. For Centuries, being a Christian and being an intellectual, a thinker, were synonomous. While I appreciate experiential knowledge and mysticism, lets not throw out suc a glorious inheritance so easily.

Car Crash and Insurance Please Help?
Hi, Yesterday I got in my first wreck I am 16 and the fault of the accident was put on me even though the woman in front of me slammed on her brakes so fast that I didn't have enough time to slow down. Anyway, the car I hit was a tank of a truck, I didn't put a scratch on it but her trailer hitch rammed into the front of my car, smashing the hood and other things. The woman said she will not fill out the insurance thing since I did no damage to her car so that brings me to my first question. If she doesn't tell her insurance company, which she probably won't, do I have to tell mine? My parents and I really don't want my rates to go up and my dad will be so furious if they do. Alright, so I'm getting slightly annoyed of the DMV as I've visited them three times already an had literally no progress made in all those lame visits... Anyways, I only got insurance so I can drive, but my car has failed smog three times now so that wont be happening and I'm now paying non-owner SR-22 insurance. Here are a few questions I have about the SR-22 and any input would be much appreciated. 1) What are the exact consequences if I choose to cancell my non-owner SR-22 insurance? I acknowledge that I will have to restart the process all over again when I want to reactivate it, but will the price be raised even more and the time frame? 2) Who do I call to find out how long I have to have SR-22 insurance; DMV or Local Court? 3) When does the SR-22 officially get activated, when the judge orders it or when I first started paying for the insurance? (I'm asking this because the insurance company I'm with is saying I shouldn't cancel because it will restart; I got the DUI 2 years ago and acitvated the insurance about 2 mounts ago.) I'm planning on going to a 4 year college so I don't want to be paying not to drive...! *I live in California if that helps you answer the question.""

I was also wondering if having good credit will give me a discount on my insurance? I know insurance will be high, so don't waste my time explaining it to me, If it helps, I always obey the speed limit, never gotten into any crashes nor have I gotten any tickets. Can you register a vehicle and get liability insurance in Texas without a driver's license?
In the near future I'll be moving back to Texas, I'm currently out of the country and I'm a 20 year old US citizen. Anyway, I don't know if this makes sense but is it possible to buy, register a vehicle and get liability insurance in Texas without a driver's license? According to dmv.com to get a first time driver's license in Texas you need the following: -Provide proof of identity. -Provide proof of Social Security number. -Provide proof of Texas vehicle registration and liability insurance, if you own a vehicle. -Complete required application forms available at any Texas driver license office. -Pay the required fee. -Pass the written, driving, and vision examinations. The applicant must provide the vehicle for the driving test. -Your application must include a photograph and thumbprint. The main reason I ask this is because it says that I need to provide a vehicle for the test with insurance obviously, so does this mean that I can buy, register, and insure my vehicle before I take the driving test to get my driver's license? I do have an out of country driver's license, but I don't know if that will work. I have been driving since I was 15, but now I need my Texas driver's license. I still don't know anyone who could lend me their car for the test. Any suggestions??? Thanks.""

Why do people keep comparing health insurance mandates to car insurance mandates?
Car insurance mandates are done at the STATE level, in accordance with the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. constitution. Yet people (the president included) continue to claim that a FEDERAL mandate to buy insurance is no different than being required to cover your car. (Completely ignoring that you have to BUY a car before you must get insurance...the govt's basically saying they own your body...insure it or be taxed) So isn't a FEDERAL mandate unconstitutional unless you plan on writing an amendment to the Constitution so that such a mandate is in accordance with the Tenth Amendment?? http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/27384.html The questions from ABCs George Stephanopoulos highlighted a politically dangerous new aspect of the health reform debate for Obama as critics from Republican leaders to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce say his reform proposals amount to a middle-class tax increase. Obama promised during the campaign that Americans earning less than $250,000 a year would not see any tax increases from an Obama administration. Obama strongly denied that the mandate amounts to a tax increase saying it was no different than requiring people to have auto insurance and charging a penalty if they dont. He also said it was important for everyone to have insurance so that people who do carry insurance dont have to shoulder the load for people who dont. The excise tax is designed as an enforcement mechanism to ensure people will carry insurance.""
Can someone convince me Car insurance isn't a complete waste of money.?
I'm only just turning 18 so I've never bought insurance myself my whole life. My stance on insurance is this: You might not have full coverage, they'll try to weasel out of paying you AND you might go for years without getting into an accident. In that time, if you pool up the money you'd have spent on car insurance you'd be able to pay for a car accident anyways. Now I'm just pulling this out of my butt, I don't have much of a basis on saying these things other than its just how i feel about it all, which is why I'm here. What creases me the most out of all this is that i hear car insurance for people my age is high, they treat us all the same and were not given a chance. Apparently no one sees age discrimination if it were slapped on to their face. They force you to have car insurance in Ontario which to me sounds a little ridiculous because i thought insurance was a service, an offer provided by companies, not an obligatory contract the government makes you pay for even if you don't want it. You can see my clear disposition against it at all, quite frankly i about don't wanna drive at all at this point. Though I want to be convinced because Canada's winters are cold, and modern life today kind of requires you to have your own mode of transportation.""

Best Averaged sized car for a teenager?
So I'm going for my license soon and we're starting to look at cars to get me around. I want something that's pretty easy on gas, reliable, easy on car insurance cost, doesn't cost an arm and a leg but ALSO isn't a tiny car like the Chevy Aveo because most of the people in my family are pretty tall for instance my mom is 5'9 I'm 5'7 /5'8 and my other sisters are also about the same height. I've been thinking about the Prius because I hear it's got some leg room and is easy on gas, but people say that batteries are more harmful than regular ones and all this jazz. Then I thought about the Honda Insight but I heard that the headroom in the back is not comfortable. I was thinking the Hyundai Sonata, but the only model I really like is the 2011 and I don't think the insurance company takes kindly to teenagers driving new cars. I would prefer not too big or long a car like the Toyota Avalon, but it's manageable. Any suggestions?""

What is the difference between permanent life insurance and whole life insurance?
I'm taking a class on finance, and I'm really confused about this concept. If it helps, here's what my textbook says: Permanent life insurance continues until the premiums are stopped or the death benefits are paid out. The cash value of the insurance increases as the premiums accumulate. With whole life insurance, the premiums, death benefits, and cash value of the insurance remain fixed. At the time of the insured's death, the cash value of the insurance becomes the insurance company's and the death benefits are paid to the beneficiaries.""

Update after a long absence!
Hey everybody! I’m not dead!
It’s been -way- too long since Ive posted an update. Figured I should explain why. Its been mostly a silence due to shame over lack of productivity. For the last 6 months or so it’s be so difficult to get the writing i want to do done. I’d have weeks where I couldn’t get into a grove, and when I did manage to get something written it was way shorter than i wanted to. I would sometimes spend days thinking of how i wanted to write that next bit of text. I’m not the first person to struggle with writers block, nor will i be the last. Hell, this is a long project so i expect it will strike again sometimes. I haven’t posted because I didn’t want an endless stream of posts of “oh i didn’t write much this past week”. But I’m here now so that must mean something has changed, right! Yes actually! I’ve recovered my Mojo so it seems. I figured it would be appropriate to share some of the things that i feel have helped me get back on track. The holidays were really bad for getting creative work done for me. There was just too much chaos on top of already annoying writers block issues. I don’t liek being interrupted, so having my week thrown off by having to plan around family events really sucked. In January i started making some changes. The first thing i did, and i think one of the biggest changes i made was to create a google spreadsheet. On that spreadsheet I put a bunch of tasks that I wanted to aim to get done every day. One of those(and the most relevant one) is to get at least 1 page or 500 words written every day. That’s into a difficult goal. It’s a small one that’s easy to achieve so that hopefully once I’m in the groove, I can get much more than that amount written. The keeping track is mostly so I can see trends where productivity is suffering and actually try to adjust for them rather than sweep them under the rug. The numbers here hurt, but don’t lie. In January I completed my 1 page/500 words goal on 9 days out of 31. Ouch. That hurt me to count. That’s hardly inspiring. Whats worse is that often that was barely meeting that goal. But... BUT, lets look at February so far. it’s 2/13/2018 (well, technically it’s the 14th, but for writing purposes, since i haven’t gone to bed yet, it’s still the 13th.). There have been 13 days so far and of those 13 days Ive completed my writing goal on 9 of those days. That. Is. So. Much. Better. AND having that streak inspires me and tells me that I can keep writing even more. Whats even better is that many of those days I wrote well over the minimum goals (like 1000 words or 6 pages). This past week I had a day where I wrote 1700 words, and another where I wrote 1500. Today, including the words in this post I wrote over 2200 words(only 1000 without this post, haha). The chart has helped me so much. It’s given me encouragement when Ive been doing well, and through shame it’s exposed what i knew but wasn't giving proper respect to. A long stretch of red colored “No”s has been a really powerful motivator. That’s not the only thing that I think has helped. At the beginning of this month I had kind of a realization. The stuff I was struggling to write was basically filler. Sure, I had intended it to have character building and plot points in it but ultimately it was filler. I had put it in the outline because my brain said “oh these needs to be a time gape here, so something needs to happen.” I may have been right still, but sitting down and trying to write something just to kill time in the story isn’t good fro meeting my writing goals. So i started skipping those parts and getting to the stuff that is most important to the story. One of the big hurdles for writing those scenes is that they’ll require extensive rewrite because i already know so many things i want to change for draft 3. So it becomes this balancing act “okay so i write it like this, but write it with this new plot point in mind because you going to change it”. It may be that i have to write these sections anyway later, but I’ll have the benefit of the larger story being complete and those plot points I want to add being built. It will take so much less mental effort on my part once that is done. The past week Ive been writing some of the most powerful emotional moments in the book and it has been so... Refreshing to write the scenes again. To feel the impact. They need work but i think Ive given it a good base. Being able to write the important scenes that Ive seen in my head for the past year and a half has been great. One thing that has been great for my writing, but maybe not so much great for my sleep cycle is changing my writing time to be after 10PM. Like I said I don’t like being interrupted, so picking a time where the only people calling or texting me while I’m writing are either drunk or in an emergency is really liberating. I’ve heard that a lot of other writers do similar things (writing either really late, or really early.). Maybe it will work for you. Dungeons and Dragons has been a super important activity for me. When i completed Nanowrimo last November i had just come off of running a year long story oriented campaign. I think that’s what allowed me to finish the 50k words in a month. After that I haven't run a campaign since then. I didn’t want to split my creative energies. i didn’t want to “waste time” preparing for DnD when I should be writing my book. I was playing in a friends game for the past year but not running one. Then i made the realization at the beginning of the year that I wasn’t getting the creative stuff done and I wasn’t doing something that I really enjoy doing. It was then that some friends bugged me about starting a game for them. I caved and set a start date for February 3rd. The first session went amazing and the next one is this Saturday. I’m running them Bi-weekly trading off every other week with my friend. The chart helped me get onto a schedule, but i think running and planning for DnD again has given me a huge boost to my creativity and creative endurance. When you’re running DnD you don’t get to slack off and say “I’ll finish that scene tomorrow”. You’re players are right there and need a description, or ruling *right now*. this is a great skill to have when writing. The ability to just decide on a detail or event right now is invaluable. I’m a story teller at heart. That why I want to write this book: Because I have a story I think is worth telling.
There are some other smaller things (but important) of a more personal nature, but I don’t want to put them out into the wide public but if you’re curious feel free to message me.
If you made it this far, then thank you so much for reading!

After the Debut: 3 Things I’ve Learned, with Emily Littlejohn
[Can you impress us in 1500 words or less? Enter the Short Short Story Competition today! Deadline January 15, 2018]
by Emily Littlejohn
You’ve signed off on the final edits to your debut novel. Your agent and your editor are already hearing positive early reviews and a couple of big name authors have offered glowing blurbs. You pour a celebratory glass of champagne and kick back on the sofa. You did it. You wrote a novel and landed a two-book contract. It’s easy street from here on out, kid.
Then your eyes stray to the calendar hanging on the wall, the kind that with a single glance shows you the next twelve months. Twelve long months to write the next book. Plenty of time.
Of course, there is that two-week European vacation in the spring, not to mention the lengthy out of state work conference you’re chairing. And to be honest, between the day job, the kids, and all the shows the family is streaming, it’s hard to get much writing done during the week. You’ll write on the weekends. No problem.
Lately, though, the weekends seem to fly by.
Still, surely you can squeeze in a few hours here and there.
Suddenly twelve months seems like a very short time.
***
I wrote my debut novel, Inherit the Bones, over the course of three long years. It was a hobby, a lark. At the time, I was working forty-plus hours a week at a regular day job and spending most of my free time with friends and family. I’d go weeks without touching my laptop and then when the muse struck, I’d sometimes wile away entire weekends puttering around in the fictional world I had created.
Long story short, I finished Bones and signed with an amazing agent, Pamela Ahearn of The Ahearn Agency. To my complete astonishment and joy, Ahearn sold Bones in a two-book deal. Before I knew it, what had been a private hobby was suddenly very public, with deadlines and schedules. Most mind-boggling of all: I had to submit a second book, in less than a year.
Happily, not only did I meet my deadlines and complete the follow-up to my debut novel, A Season to Lie, I learned a few things along the way.
Meet Deadlines
One of the first things I learned while writing my second book is that deadlines exist for a reason. Traditionally published novels have many moving pieces to them; pitches, edits, cover design, printing, creating advance reader copies… all of these and more are steps along the way as a book marches from an author’s word document to the final version in the reader’s hands.
What does that mean for an author?
Making those deadlines is critical.
And make no mistake: writing a novel to a deadline is very, very different from tinkering around on a manuscript here and there. Life, in the form of regular employment, family obligations, and heck, even meals, has a funny way of interrupting your writing. If you haven’t already carved out dedicated time to work on your second book, it is imperative to do so now. For some, that means waking up early to get a few hours of writing in while the kids are still asleep. For others, weekend activities like movies and sporting events need to take a backseat to plotting and drafting.
[Online Course: 12 Weeks to a First Draft with Terri Valentine]
What helped me tremendously was setting a goal of about 1500 words per writing session. I knew there would be days when I simply would not be able to sit down and write; a daily word count goal, then, would have been frustrating. Instead, I promised myself that on those days when I did get to my laptop, I would write at least 1500 words. Most of the time, I found that I exceeded the goal. And page by page, my novel grew in length. As my page count increased, the deadlines didn’t seem so… deadly.
Fall in Love with Your Characters
While meeting deadlines as you write your second novel can feel like added pressure, getting to better know your series’ recurring characters is downright fun. In my mysteries, like many others, murder and mayhem move the plot forward… but the characters are what readers return for. In A Season to Lie, I loved exploring the relationships and back stories of Detective Gemma Monroe, her loved ones, and her colleagues on the police force. For instance, things that are hinted at in Inherit the Bones between Monroe and her romantic partner, Brody Sutherland, became necessary to tease to the forefront in A Season to Lie.
[6 Tips for Creating Believable Characters That Win Over Readers]
Coincidentally, one of the greatest things about writing a series in the mystery genre is possessing the ability to kill off characters you fall out of love with… or those that you never liked to begin with. My husband is always relieved when he finishes one of my books and sees that the romantic interest is still kicking… though he knows that I’m an equal opportunist and should the story demand it, well… let’s just say I believe everyone’s a suspect and everyone’s a potential victim.
The second book of a series is truly prime real estate for character development. You’ve laid the groundwork in the first book yet you’re still early enough in the series that your characters aren’t so formed that they are unable to change. I encourage you to have fun with that, to add in bits and pieces of backstory as you move the story forward.
Publicity is the Name of the Game
Debut authors are like pizza… everyone wants a slice. As you are writing towards completion of your second novel, marketing will be ramping up for the publication of your debut novel. That translates to invitations for guest blog posts, guest articles, interviews, author events, and so on. All wonderful things that can take your attention away from finishing the second novel.
I said yes to every invitation I received, as will you. Of course you will. There are few things more exciting for an author than getting to talk about your work. A word of caution, though, especially if you are writing mysteries: keep your storylines straight. You are perfectly aware that the beloved butler introduced in the first book is brutally disposed of in the second book… but readers of your interview-blog post- Facebook status update haven’t even read the first book yet.
Spoil nothing yet provide enough intrigue to entice all. And before you know it, you’ll be working on your third novel with an eye towards your fourth.

7 Things I’ve Learned So Far, by Angelica Baker
“7 Things I’ve Learned So Far” (this installment written by Angelica Baker, author of OUR LITTLE RACKET) is a recurring column where writers at any stage of their career can talk about writing advice and instruction, as well as how they possibly got their literary agent—by sharing seven things they’ve learned along their writing journey that they wish they knew at the beginning.
Angelica Baker’s debut novel, OUR LITTLE RACKET, was published by Ecco in June 2017. She has written essays and reviews for The Los Angeles Review of Books, Columbia: A Journal of Literature & Art, The Rumpus, and Tin House’s “The Open Bar.” Her fiction has appeared in Violet and One Teen Story. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University. She currently teaches at Manhattanville College.
1. You should write every single day that you can…
During the year or so before I started writing my book, I solicited writing advice from every possible source. I was preparing for graduate school, starting to imagine what my writing life was going to look like once I’d been untethered from the “normal” confines of an office job, and I greedily sought out any potentially useful nugget of wisdom from every single writer I’d ever admired.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten (or at least flagrantly ignored) many of those maxims, but the one I find myself revisiting on an almost daily basis is this: it’s essential that you write every day because there’s no way to know, in advance, when inspiration is going to strike. Fruitful writing days, for me, often start out feeling almost exactly like useless writing days. If I’m not at my desk when a knotty problem works its way loose in my head, then there’s no chance that solution will ever make it onto the page.
2. …although if you don’t write every day, that’s fine!…
When I say that you should write every single day that you can, I mean that you should build up a habit, establish a routine, and make it feel as much like work—the kind of work where you have a boss who keeps you motivated and honest—as possible. But the unvarnished truth is that you won’t be able to write every day. Aside from days that were set aside for practical concerns, like making the money to pay my rent, there were many days during the four years I worked on my novel that were duds. Sometimes you fiddle with an open Word document for a few minutes before it becomes clear that your mind is sludge that particular day; sometimes, hopefully, you have an hour or so of productive note-taking or editing before you hit a wall. But always, always, there are days when nothing gets done, despite your best and most frantic intentions. And when you have a run of several days like that, despair can creep in. It begins to feel like you’re a delusional fraud, like you’ve let your brain go so soft that it will be impossible ever to whip it back into shape. That self-loathing begins to spiral, feeding on itself with every passing minute of non-writing.
I lost almost an entire year to a severe spiral like that; for months, it felt like I’d made zero progress on my novel. And then I gave some pages to a reader, and when we met for coffee to discuss them, she looked at me with sympathy and a little confusion as I described how useless these months of my life had been. But you are getting something done, she told me. These are obviously moving in the right direction. Why are you being so hard on yourself?
It’s hard to know when “taking the day off” from writing is self-indulgence and when it’s a smart way to avoid one of those spirals. But I’ve learned that I’m never going to be someone who writes every day, starting at nine o’clock on the dot and clocking out at five. My friend was right, when she intuited that I was inwardly berating myself and, as a result, stunting my own progress even further. She was right that I needed to be nicer to myself.
3. …but you should absolutely read every day.
And what’s the one thing that has, all my life, always made me feel better? Reading a book. So while I’ve learned that I’m not the kind of writer who can write every single day, I would be willing to bet that there hasn’t been a single day of my life when I’m not reading the fruits of someone else’s more successful labors. Ironically, reading a book I love almost never makes me feel jealous or petty, not even on my worst writing day. It reminds me of what it felt like to read when I was small, when the question of whether I’d finish writing a book was far less important to me than the question of which book I’d pick up next.
4. Be smart about who gets to read your writing and when you show it to them.
One of my biggest motivations in choosing to attend a graduate writing program was a desire to find a group of readers. My classmates are still doing this for me years later; whether it’s a quick read of a specific passage of my novel that was a struggle, or a deeper opinion on a draft of an essay that doesn’t really seem to be about anything yet, I rely on them on a regular basis (and return the favor whenever I’m asked).
But I knew them well by the time I trusted them to read my novel, and I learned the hard way that giving your work to someone you don’t yet have reason to trust can be a huge mistake. Negative criticism from a trusted reader can be useful because you know you can’t entirely discount his or her opinion. Negative criticism from someone whose tastes and critical eye are more mysterious to you doesn’t necessarily mean much; that person might be someone who would never, ever choose to pick up a book like yours in a bookstore. But here’s the catch: that doesn’t mean they can’t still hurt your feelings or make you doubt yourself. I’ve learned that I’m not yet tough enough—although I’m working on it!—to completely shrug off a nasty or ill-informed comment from anyone, even a reader I don’t necessarily respect. I’ve learned to protect myself, and more importantly my work, by choosing readers carefully.
5. Treat it like a job, even if people around you don’t.
Friends of mine who work in more linear fields have a hard time picturing exactly what it is I do during a day spent “writing.” This seems totally reasonable to me. It’s hard to explain to them exactly how the hours get filled, and I’d be humiliated if they could actually see my endless bouts of crying, pacing, flopping onto my bed in despair, and—yes—cruising through Twitter. But I’ve learned that this fuzziness from other people about what I do makes it all the more essential that I block off my writing time, treating it as something that cannot be interrupted. For years, I’ve worked multiple jobs to make my writing life possible, so there’s always going to be some juggling of schedules. But I try to establish my other commitments in advance and treat the time I plan to spend writing at home as somewhat inviolable. It’s not a free morning or afternoon that I’ll spend writing since I have nothing more pressing to do; it’s work, and I have to show up. There’s no one who would care if I didn’t.
6. Always start with something small.
It’s very rare that I sit down and dive directly into whatever project I hope to spend the day with. Generally, I begin with some sort of small writing or editing exercise that feels like it’s somewhere between “task” and “inspiration.” Sometimes, this can be a small thing I want to read instead, especially poetry. Whatever it is, it opens up the part of my brain that knows that it’s time to settle down, stop flitting from one Twitter link to the next, and work.
7. Don’t read the reviews!
It’s a bit of a cheat to include this on a list of things I’ve learned. It would be much more accurate to put it on a list of things I aspire to learn some time soon. I had a professor who told us once that she hadn’t read any reviews of her work since a particularly savage one for her second novel devastated her; she knew that there was no point. This makes logical sense to me. I understand completely that reading someone’s capsule review on Goodreads, in which my book is criticized because some of the characters in its pages aren’t good parents (according to the reviewer), is an activity that’s at best futile and at worst damaging. And yet, I’ve been reading reviews of my novel. I’ll probably keep reading them for now, much to my boyfriend’s dismay. But I hope, I really do hope, that I’m learning to ignore them.
