ok uhh okay. spiderverse 2 thoughts. in bullet points for the sake of my churning brain cuz im just not rly sure how i feel abt it rn. like it was a good movie? i enjoyed it it was fast paced i didnt realize 2+ hours went by which also segues into  my first thought but like. yeah i have thoughts.
first of all that was like a super weird ending decision to make it a part 1 of 2. zero warning for that. and i sat in that theater till credits bcuz i genuinely thought i was being punked and the movie was going to finish, bcuz it did not at all feel like a place to stop for the movie. it ends like right before the climax?? yes they really. extended themselves damn far for this one and it would be a lot to tie up in like another 45 minutes of movie but also like you couldve done it.. i really dont. understand. like ppl just sat in the movie theater like wait is it done. theyre ending it here? for real? like it wasnt the kind of ending you expect from this movie
animation was obviously gorgeous and insane i dont even need to talk about what eye candy it was. the different styles all together the fight scenes ugh so good yeah yeah everyone knew it would be a trip
rly cannot stress enough what a Direction this sure was. i dont like say it as crit necessarily just like. did they over extend. maybe. they sure Extended. i would expect this maybe for a third movie not a second but they were clearly trying to blow the first one out of the water. it was just.. a lot looser. it needed to be tighter. i dont know what theyre planning for the 3rd movie but i really did not like. vibe with that ending decision
they changed peni’s design slightly and gave her a cooler mech so thats nice. maybe they listened 2 criticisms abt that
i cant decide how i feel abt a lot of the dialogue tbh it rly wasnt my thing a lot of the time like. the changing writers were kind of.. obvious. and there was a LOT of dialogue bcuz this movies purpose seems to be a very Character Driven story to prepare for the next? like theyre TRYING to say stuff thats for sure. also it was rly quippy in a way that i feel has gotten kind of tired with dialogue writing like SOME dialogue was genuinely funny and good to me like i wouldnt say it was BAD or something (some of it was bad.) it was just.. noticeably different? the tone for this movie was changed from the first which again isnt bad youre telling a different story it was just Different yeah. some things i rly thought couldve been handled like with more subtlety.
i guess we only had one movie with the original cast but some stuff just like i personally was sitting there trying to figure out if it felt in character or not. its rly hard to explain if u havent watched it i think and maybe im just crazy i dunno. im absolutely not opposed to making ur characters fuck up and make mistakes but like. huh. i guess. i would not expect otherwise from gwen bcuz shes a teenager but i was.. surprised that peter was going along with it like ? hes a middle aged man lol he wasnt like taken advantage of or manipulated in any way. not like they were trying to say that w the like spider group anyway, like i dont think they were tryingto say gwen was necessariyl taken advantage of or anything, like they werent trying to make them read as ‘evil’ if anything just like wow these ppl sure have Problems they are going thruogh. but like still? im not invested in peters character even it just felt kind of weird. miles went fucking through it too like jesus christ im still trying to wrap my brain around all this it sure does feel like theyre putting these ppl thru comic book trauma
what i went through emotionally wheni realized they were going to do Dark Miles i dont even mean that as criticism or anything its just a bold move man. buti was sitting there like yeah of course they would. hope they make it work
i dunno i probably have more thoughts im just kind of like sitting here lol like what a weird decision. if they hadnt ended it like that i probably would have my thoughts more tied together bcuz the movie itself wasnt tied up?? so its kind of hard to even like think through everything on one watch

This suit has ruined the future of Miles’ costume design
They have spent years trying to recreate it, to duplicate that spark, and all we have to show for it is a legacy of swaggerless monstrosities

Ok why is everyone hating on Gwen so much??? Like I don’t want to pull the misogyny card but some people either were not paying attention during the movie or have no critical thinking when interacting with this movie. I’ve seen people calling her racist, the villain of the movie, selfish/inconsiderate, etc. like did we watch the same movie? Am I missing smth?!

More spidersona to tide her 3 fans over until i get a Big Piece done and here's the first post for reference
Tumblr media
The proper way to write her name is Sædra Saraç, pronounced say-dra sah-rash. I just came up with this name out of nowhere a long time ago it has no meaning it's just. fun
-Baby Sae was a scrawny screemplet
-She is very much not good at leaps of faith, only really figured out how to do any spiderability stuff through fear-induced adrenaline.
-She can throw webs from all 4 limbs but prefers her right front paw
-The animals of her universe all have somewhat opposable hands. It's ofc less so with things like hooved animals but there are accommodations
-She still has the spider that bit her in a glass terrarium. Has no idea what species it is but despite the fact she resents it a bit for giving her her powers she still keeps it alive and well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Was obsessed with cats in elem school. Drew this particular design a million times.
-If you're wondering why Sæ's parents didn't freak out about her nose suddenly disappearing and being replaced by weird pits in her face, it's because she lost them both before she was bit. She's 16, considered a ward of the state until she turns 21, and is allowed to keep living in her parents' flat.
-Sæ's a bit of a recluse these days, both at school and at home. Her dad died in the line of duty as a police chief before she was born, but her mom? It had only been about half a year after her mom's death from a break-in when Sæ gained her spider powers. Kid's having a rough time. When she meets the spider society, it'll probably help lift her spirits to know there's people out there who get it.

its just like i want to talk about this movie for its own merits and i genuinely dont understand why you chose to end it there bcuz that is how people are leaving your movie. theyre leaving the theater being confused and maybe annoyed is that like? on purpose? why would you want people to watch the spiderverse sequel and feel THAT at the end? like the cliffhanger stuff being COOL!!!1! doesnt make up for it? because now people cant even examine the movie on its own, theyre forced to talk about the cliffhanger ending for a movie no one expected that or was told that for. its just a boggling decision AND IT COULDVE BEEN AVOIDED HAD THEY PUT IT IN THE TITLE. LIKE DO U KNOW HOW ANNOYED I AM TO TALK ABOUT THIS AND NOT THE ACTUAL MOVIE

(Across the Spider-Verse spoilers!) So, there's one small interaction I love between ItSV and AtSV: Imagine you're going blind into ItSV, without knowing anything about it. The moment where it really becomes a Spider-Verse movie and not 'just' a Spider-Man movie is when Peter B. is introduced. When we see his "let's do this one last time" thing, they make a point of showing us how he can tell that everything is different by showing us all slightly-off names of brands. The moment the flashback is over, the cops show up and say "Freeze, PDNY!", to drive the point home.
Later, when Gwen shows up, the multiverse concept is expanded, it's not just that there's a parallel universe where Peter Parker is a bit different, there's universes where the local Spider can be Gwen Stacy! And IMMEDIATELY, IMMEDIATELY, Peter B. makes the joke: "Save it for comic con".
And Miles asks: What's Comic Con? To reinforce that this is a DIFFERENT WORLD and there are many different things about it.
So the movie kind of slowly introduces us to the spider-verse by doing: 1) Normal Spider universe 2) Actually, there's another Spider universe 3) Actually, there's MANY Spider universes And whenever that change happens, there's Peter B. to drive the point with a joke about how things are slightly off in Miles' universe compared to ours. And then, in Across the Spider-Verse, Miles is talking to Rio and he says he's Spider-Man, she doesn't know who that is. She thinks he's in cosplay FOR COMIC CON And Miles doesn't know what that is.
And it's just brilliant how in the first movie, that joke is there to ease us into the idea of different universes that are all slightly different, But here, the exact same joke is used as an unsettling "something is off" moment, by then the audience already knows, but Miles is still catching up, and the reason why it's really, really brilliant is because the thing that is off is that Rio's universe is NOT OFF ENOUGH, it's not as different from ours as Miles', and that's a clue that he's in the wrong place, it's wrong BY NOT BEING WRONG, the familiarity is what makes it eerie.

Dance with me at the Spider-Society Soirée
Tumblr media
🕸️ ————————🕷️————————🕸️
Characters: Miguel O’Hara x Spider-hero!fem!reader. Miguel and reader aren’t in an established romantic relationship but they have a crush on each other.
Part 1 Summary: The members of the Spider-Society are holding a soirée on June 30 to celebrate their peers and their achievements in the past years. You know Miguel probably won’t show up, but you try to convince him to attend the soirée anyways.
Warning: Some really mild ITSV and ATSV spoilers ahead! Other than that, an all-fluff story
Strawbetty’s notes: Miguel O’Hara has taken over my LIFE :’0🫶; first fic for him!! ALSO I’ll be releasing this fic in three parts. This is Part 1!
Parts: Part 1 {below} | Part 2 | Part 3
🕸️ ————————🕷️————————🕸️
Part 1: The Invitation
3 p.m., June 26.
You stood on your tiptoes, trying to channel your inner Gwen-Stacy-ballet-gracefulness as you inched closer and closer to Miguel’s platform that hovered a good twenty to thirty feet in the air.
With his back to you (and to the whole room, you supposed), you figured that Miguel was probably preoccupied with his cases or files. The honey-comb-gold screens surrounding his platform illuminated the swept-back tufts of his brown hair and the lines of red—a bright hue you liked to jokingly call “strawberry red”—on his Spider-Man 2099 suit.
The screens also did you the favor of highlighting the wide canvas that was Miguel’s broad shoulders, and those curved lines of his biceps…
No time for staring. Almost there.
Your eyes tore away from Miguel’s back to the bottom of his platform. You thrusted your right arm forward, ready to sling a web to the platform—
“You need to work on your stealth skills,” Miguel hummed, not even turning around once to look at you. His voice, laced with its usual casual sarcasm, also held a note of playfulness to it. You could practically picture the teeniest of smirks gracing his lips.
Despite getting caught, you put on a smirk of your own and shot a web up to Miguel’s platform to join him.
“What if I wanted you to know I was here?” You approached him, tilting your head up to the side to see that he in fact did have a smirk on his face. Called it.
Miguel pursed his lips, feigning his usual stoic expression as he crossed his arms to elevate his act. “Then I should rethink your position in the Spider-Society.”
Your gasp, raised in volume for the sake of dramatics, made Miguel’s lips quiver only just a bit. “You wouldn’t dare,” you admonished, putting a hand to your heart as if his words wounded you more than the attacks from the deadliest of villains ever could. “Well. In all seriousness, I actually have something for you to think about.”
Miguel raised both of his thick, dark eyebrows, yet he uncrossed his arms.
You slipped out a card from your suit’s pocket, the cream paper of the card now tinted blue from the ocean hue of the room.
On the card, letters gilded in gold read, “You are cordially invited to the Spider-Society Soirée.” It was an invitation to a formal evening party that a few of the older Spiders came up with this year to celebrate each other and all of their achievements in the past years.
Miguel had given it the hasty “OK” to happen, as long as he didn’t have to be involved in the planning and as long as alcohol was prohibited from the event (since the Spider-Society had a lot of young Spiders).
“I know you probably aren’t going, but it’s this Friday and it would be fun if you showed up,” a smile danced across your face—a hopeful smile, not mischievous or playful like earlier.
The word “party” already brewed a migraine in Miguel’s head. He scrunched his nose ever-so-slightly as if seconds away from pinching the bridge of it.
“You know I don’t do parties,” Miguel huffed not at you, but at the word “party.” His right index finger and thumb found their way up the bridge of his nose as if by instinct.
Miguel O’Hara was the type of person who found parties pointless, especially since he believed he could spend his time better protecting the multiverse rather than making an attempt to socialize with people he found too loud or annoying. And he found pretty much everyone too loud or annoying.
“I know, I know,” you held your hands up, feigning defeat, before propping them up into fists on your hips like a confident comic book superhero. “But think of it this way. It would look bad from an organization perspective if the leader isn’t there to acknowledge the efforts of his own recruits.”
A simple lift of an eyebrow from Miguel indicated that he knew all too well that you had more to say.
You knew you had to take it a step further in order to really, truly convince Miguel to attend the soirée. “And I know that you think that Spiders successfully completing their missions is recognition enough, but it could boost their—our—work ethic if you showed up to acknowledge everyone’s efforts.”
Miguel’s eyebrows furrowed. You had a point, you always did. He always valued your advice and input when it came to missions or the Spider-Society in general, even though he could be stubborn a lot of the time.
When you began to display your ever-so-sweet smile, Miguel couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
“I’ll think about it.” Miguel placed his hands on his hips and tilted his head a few degrees down to the side. He lifted both of his eyebrows to humor you. “That’s all you asked of me earlier, right? To think about it, not actually agree to go.”
When your smile vanished and formed into a damn it scowl, Miguel’s lips parted a bit to reveal his fangs and he flashed you his itsy-bitsy smirk of triumph.
Whatever dance of persuasion you tried to lead Miguel into, he could always counterattack, spin you around, and end up leading you.
“Uuugh, fine,” you slipped your invitation back into your pocket, turning your back to him as if you were about to leave. At that moment, you wish you had a cape like his to make for a dramatic exit. “Oh, I just remembered. I heard they’re gonna serve your favorite empanadas at the soirée.”
And with that attempt of a counterattack, you launched a web at a beam above Miguel’s platform and made your way down and out of his “office.”
Cute. Miguel failed to bite back a chuckle, even though you were already out of earshot. He found it endearing that you thought empanadas were enough to convince him to go to a party.
But…it actually wouldn’t be so bad to show up for a few minutes. Miguel reasoned with himself. I’m the leader, I need to do better at showing my appreciation for the recruits.
Miguel nodded, as if that was the sole reason he needed to convince himself to attend the soirée, before turning his attention back to his cases and files.
“Lyla, can you—,” Miguel raised his left wrist that held his dimension travel watch, calling for his AI assistant.
“—buy you a tux for the soirée so you can impress Y/N?” The AI, ever the devil’s advocate on Miguel’s shoulder, appeared before him in a flash of gold. She made a show of laying in the air on her stomach with her holographic feet kicking up. With her face cupped in her palms, Lyla had a grin on her face that stretched a mile wide. “Already diiiid. You forget that I have access to your credit card information.”
“Yes—wait, what? No! What the— shock, Lyla?!” Miguel sputtered, shocked that Lyla already bought him a tuxedo online (no doubt an expensive one), and maybe even a little embarrassed that Lyla knew him so well. “I was just going to ask if you could increase alerts for anomalies and emergencies in case I do choose to go to the soirée.”
Lyla slid down her transparent pink heart sunglasses down her nose, raising an eyebrow at Miguel. “Who are you trying to fool here, an AI?” Lyla cackled, her cackles growing in volume as the frown lines on Miguel’s face increased. “We both know you wanna go, and not just for acknowledging the recruits.”
“Hilarious, Lyla,” Sarcasm oozed from Miguel’s voice like venom as he waved his hand to shoo Lyla away like a pesky fly.
“Your tux is arriving in three days!” Lyla sang, snapping a picture of Miguel and his frown before she disappeared into thin air.

Some slightly more coherent thoughts about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (ATSV) now that I've had a little time to process and long to return to the theater to see it again and again and again:
1 ) Go see it. Holy shit, go see it. Re-watch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (ITSV) before you go if you have the chance but you don't have to, they recap it well enough and I promise anyway, the first thing you're gonna do when you get home after is turn ITSV on and then scream a bunch because it is all so tightly connected from the very beginning.
2 ) ITSV is a masterpiece. ATSV is more of a masterpiece in the same way that 11 is bigger than 10. They took everything in ITSV, which is a perfect 10/10 and made it 11/10 for this film. I shit you not. It cannot be otherwise expressed with words. Everything is just bigger, faster, bolder, more.
Ok, now getting into some of the more spoiler-y thoughts:
3 ) Loved me those themes of connection and loneliness. When you go back to ITSV, you see it's right there from the start. All of the version of Spider-Man are lonely. They are tired. They're isolated and unsupported and they are all suffering. Miles makes their lives better. They make Miles' life better. This becomes such a huge, huge theme in ATSV as Miles literally breaks the canon, he is the ultimate fix-it fanfic character, every Spider-Man he interacts with gets some element of their tragic backstory fixed. Peter B. reunites with MJ and has a child that brings joy back into his life. Gwen gets a friend again. Pavitr doesn't have to watch his girlfriend's father die. They are no longer doomed by the narrative.
4) Another post commented on how tired Peni looks when we finally see her, but she's not the only one. All of the Spider-People in the Spider-Verse look tired and it is, in fact I'd argue, Miguel's fault. He appealed to their sense of martyrdom to put together an organization that helps people and saves the world(s). BUT he made "maintaining the canon" an aspect of this (a wonderful meta commentary on Miles himself, btw, and all the comic book nerds who want to rehash the same story over and over instead of transforming it into something new and hopeful). Because they had all suffered so much, it followed logically for all the Spider-People that all of their parallel universe selves must also suffer.
This is the crab bucket mentality. Miguel dragged all the Spider-People into the crab bucket with him. He taught them learned helplessness. They're all tired and worn down because they have to keep reliving their own trauma by standing by and making sure these awful things that happened to them continue to happen, over and over. It's the mirror too for any marginalized community where the past generation believes the next one must suffer as they did. But it's exhausting for them to see the misery and do nothing. That's why they're all so tired. It makes sense to them that to be Spider-People, the next generation must suffer as they did but they are also, all of them, heroes and so it wears them down to watch this happen over and over. Miles brings back their energy and joy and their hope by refusing to be doomed by the narrative.
It's wonderful fanfic but it's also fantastic storytelling and it works on so many layers of the story, Doylist and Watsonian, all the way down.
5 ) THIS is a tightly knit story. Every. Single. Element. Ties back to the central story, the central themes. Every line either reveals plot, character, setting, or themes. It is so, so tight as a writer I was gaping. In necessary, if brief, moments of exposition they make sure to keep the screen busy and moving. There's no time for boredom. It is literally so fast that even as someone with ADHD I was sometimes overwhelmed as much as riveted. The few scenes that slowed down to simply fast movie pace felt achingly slow as a result and I bet you they were maybe 30 seconds long.
6 ) I AM. SO HYPED. FOR THE ENDING AND THE SEQUEL IT SETS UP? The perfect dark mirror story, not rushed but simply introduced so we can see that the final boss for Miles is himself. Unless they subvert that expectation, which they might! But it is so ominous to see Prowler Miles, it makes so much sense, it is perfect and deep and rich. Literally every time you think, "Maybe they'll rehash old material?" they don't they just keep introducing cool new characters and concepts and themes it's mindblowing.
7 ) They never leave you with one thread. Miles is going to face himself and fight to save his dad from the Spot and fight Miguel, presumably, in the next one. No single line only does one thing. No frame does one thing. And yet everything ties back to the core story of Miles and the Spider-People both on the Watsonian and Doylist level. I want to study every frame under a microscope. It's insane.
8 ) THE ART IT'S JUST. I'm not an artist so I'll leave it at this but THE ART.
9 ) I love Pavitr and Hobie. So much. I gasped when we saw Pavitr's world.
10 ) The Spot's animation was insane just insane and I think he's foreshadowed in the ITSV and it blew my mind on the re-watch.
I need to see it again. I could talk about any single element for hours. But I just can't stop thinking about the mastery embodied in this film. I know a sequel to a superhero movie that's animated will never win Best Picture but I do not exaggerate when I say that in itself might be an indictment of Best Picture. This film deserves Best Picture. It is the best movie I've seen in an unfathomably long time including ITSV.

Leitmotifs in Across The Spiderverse.
Let's talk about how the music of Across The Spiderverse tells us more than what might be obvious. Spoilers for both movies from here on out: you've been warned.
EDIT: added in one more very important instance.
For those who don't know or need a reminder, a leitmotif is a musical signature associated with a character, an idea, a situation, or some or all of those things together. And for the first Spiderverse movie, Daniel Pemberton made excellent use of at least two big ones.
To see what I mean, check out this video. If you haven't already. It highlights how music helped tell the story of Into The Spiderverse.
While this video exclusively covers the leitmotifs in the soundtrack of ITSV, once you know what they sound like, you can hear their inclusion in ATSV.
For instance, Miles' personal leitmotif (that ties together the themes that makeup Miles-as-a-person's journey) shows up both times he attempts to tell his mother that he's Spider-Man.
But the Spider-Person theme, in particular, is all over the place in ATSV. This is fitting, considering it features so many Spideys. Not only is it front and center in Peter B.'s theme and is hiding out in Gwen's, Pavitr's, and Hobie's themes, it demonstrates how Miles-as-Spider-Man has developed between movies: playing throughout My Name is Miles Morales. It's one of the first things we hear when we see the young hero again.
This is an evolution from before, as for most of the first film, the Spider-Person motif plays incessantly for the other Spiders but sparingly for Miles. Whenever it was used for him, it was to show he'd reached a new station in his learning and growth. It plays for him when he first thwips away from Doc Ock and intertwines with his personal theme during his leap of faith to show that he's finally become Spider-Man.
So to have multiple iterations of the Spider-Person leitmotif jammed into the song that plays when we first see Miles again shows how much he's grown.
However....the other places it plays in the movie can give us clues about the nature of the conflict between Miguel's Spider Society and the newly formed Spider-Band. To illustrate this, I want to talk about three specific moments where it's prominent in the soundtrack.
During Nueva York Train Chase, Miguel busts out of the train like a horror movie monster and calls after the younger Spider: "Who do you think you are? Really!?"
Miles answers: "My name...is Miles Morales. I was bitten by a radioactive spider. I'm pretty sure you know the rest, jerk!" He then proceeds to drop, kick Miguel in the face, and then nail him with a ball of webbing.
This is around 2:05 of Nueva York Train Chase on the official ATSV soundtrack by Daniel Pemberton. What do we hear after Miles declares this and then (temporarily) eludes 2099?
The Spider-Person leitmotif.
It's not much later that we hear it again. When? At about 2:25 in the track The Go Home Machine. When Margo Kess, Spider-Byte, decides not to interfere with the titular machine and keep Miles in Nueva York.
This moment is critical. Miguel is trying to stop Miles. Even if the machine doesn't take him home, it gets Miles out of the older Spider's clutches and gives him a chance. And when he gets away, what plays? The Spider-Person leitmotif. The music tells us that at this moment, in trying to escape and save his father and not halting his escape, Miles and Margo are acting like Spider-People.
The music is on Miles' side. The music tells us that Miles is acting like Spider-Man by resisting the Spider-Society. He's doing the right thing.
And on top of that, what do we hear after 2:35 of Start a Band? The moment where Peter B. looks outside and sees Gwen waiting for him? The Spider-Person leitmotif. It tells us that in taking Hobie's watch and gathering her band together, Gwen's acting like Spider-Woman.
It then plays over and over again until the credits role. The music is telling us that the Spider-Band's mission marks them as Spider-People. They are living up to the title. They are doing the right thing.
I don't think the music is the only thing in the movie that points the audience to that conclusion. There's also a lot of subtext, meta, and suspiciously little information about how Canon Events and the multiverse generally work. But this is one of the simplest ways the movie tells us that Miles and the Spider-Band are in the right.

! atsv spoilers !
when i sat down in my theatre seat to see atsv im telling you i was being the most autistic fuck you've ever witnessed. you could practically see the sparkles in my eye, dude.
the spot. my godddd he's so silly. the marketing ploy to make him seem like the side villain from the trailers was so fucking smart. I really thought that Miguel was going to be the main villain considering him fighting miles in pracgjcalky every trailer ever and being in the post-credits scene of itsv. and miles dealing with having to be everywhere at once was very realistic and gave me the classic "oh my god this poor boy this is painful to watch". oh and gwen's beginning scene of the drums just gave me the feeling that the movie was going to be fantastic. like, betrayal, amazing visuals, more gwen?? already a wonderful start. also the fact that the spot's whole reason to turn into a major villain is that nobody, not even the person who caused his disfigurement, would take him seriously- like- HUH???? perfect. wonderful. bro just wanted miles to pay attention to him for a little while.
Pavitr and Hobie were also really great additions to the spider team. Despite the fact that Hobie's accent was so thick and deep that I couldn't understand what he was saying a good third of the time, he still managed to work his way into my top 5 characters of the movie. THAT is good character building. At first I thought he was going to be the stereotypical love rival, considering his first mention was miles getting jealous of him and gwen being friends. I was worried that was how the story was actually going to go when he upstaged miles by breaking done the collider force field, but hes actually a really chill and cool guy. pretty sure he even roots for gwen and miles, so that's pretty funny. Pavitr was also super funny with a great character design. " Chai means tea, you're just saying tea tea! " was probably one of my favorite lines / jokes from the whole movie. His world was also very pretty and SUPER detailed. Props to every artist for Mumbatten.
Miguel and Peter B.'s dynamic was really fun to watch as well. This cryptic emo ass mastermind vampire who has watched people die and destroyed a universe next to this middle aged man in a pink fuzzy bathrobe who's oogling over his daughter. also, the line where Miguel said " I've had the right amount of you today " to peter b instead of " I've had enough of you " like the normal saying goes was kinda queer. just saying. but yeah, great villain, and I do want to see him in the final battle against spot, but I eventually don't want him to be the one to beat spot, y'know? If it was to be anyone, it's obviously going to be miles. Whether it's just miles or miles and gwen or miles and the gang gwen assembled at the end of atsv (WHICH HAD SPIDERNOIR YESSS SPIDERNOIR FANS LETS GOOOOOOO I HAD THE STUPIDEST SMILE ON MY FACE WHEN I SAW HIM IM TELLKNG YOU), in the end it's still gotta be miles.
the collider scene with the spot was really cool. spot may be silly, but he's not dumb enough to be " saved " by his archnemesis who only cared about him when he was about to become a transdimensional eldritch horror. boss move. his final form was really pleasing to look at because you can just see the detail that went into it. Looking at some screenshots, I noticed there were a lot of eyes and I'm pretty sure I saw a version of spiderman (original world 1610 peter, possibly?) staring at miles / the audience. despite him not showing up for another hour, hour and a half, I wasn't mad. If a movie can avoid showing the main villain for that long and still have them integrated properly, just, wow. blown away. oh and this part made me even more interested because his beginning ost, spot 1, I think? his random beats and tunes sounded more silly and disorganized and clumsy, like him trying to take the atm. near the end, he got spot 2, which was more shrill and frightening. I'm not musically trained, and I could still tell that it was scarier, and to me, they sounded very similar. To not have too far of a difference between the two and stroke two entirely different chords is just. ugh. wow.
don't even get me started on prowler miles... RAHHH THE CHARACTER AND WORLD DESIGN FOR UNIVERSE 42!!!! it was so beautiful and scary and breathtaking because there is. no. spiderman. when miles's mom didn't know what he was talking about and gwen wasn't really outside, it hit me like a brick in the head. and alternate aaron??? hello??? he made me physically uncomfortable because of how terrifying his face was. i couldnt even tell if he was wearing makeup or he was just that dramatjcally shaded. the turn miles does to see that it was his dad painted on the wall instead of aaron.... GRAHHHHHH
as an aspiring artist, I can say nothing but wow. that movie, the fact that it was 2 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES???? HELLO??? DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH WORK THAT MUSTVE TOOK??? unbelievable. and you know that sony felt bad for making us wait on a cliffhanger, so they probably were around 3/4 done with atsv and started working on beyond, so we didn't have to wait as long as we would've if they finished atsv and then started beyond. I'm so glad that those 5 years in the Sony team paid off, because that. was. amazing. my depression is vaporized. im going feral, going wild, going insane. i will not think of anything else until beyond is out. can't wait to see my bbg spot have his villain moment in March 2024!!! <333

BOUND 2 , miles morales
Tumblr media
you and miles just saved the multiverse and destroyed a collider that would ruin everything. everyone made it home but you, you were stuck in a dimension that wasnt even yours.
angst, fluff??, miles being bad at comforting, your called sol which means sun/sunshine in english, based off of spiderman itsv w spiderman atsv spoilers, minor google translate spanish, cussing, miles the rizzler
Tumblr media
you walked toward the edge of the destroyed collider, wiping the dried tears with the tips of your fingers. you dangled your feet over the burnt ground.
miles walked toward you and stood behind you, “whats wrong, sol?” he asked. you looked up at him, your mask was scrunched up in your hand.
you hated what you were gifted, you hated what you did with your gift, you hated the entire saying with great power comes great responsibility. nothing about this was great.
“i just cant believe, I’ll never get to experience my actual life.” you said, your face contorting into disbelief. miles placed his hand on your shoulder, “this is your actual life now, luz del sol.” he tried.
miles didnt understand the situation you were caught in. he lost uncle aaron and calls it a sob story, the moment you saw lyla and the random dude who remained anonymous tell you infront of who you thought was your family that they somehow warped you from your earth you didn’t understand.
your parents looked at you guilty, the anonymous spiderguy made sure that you were completely aware of where you belonged wasnt earth-1610.
“miles..” you began, “you belong here. this is your earth, your life. but mine.. I’ll never get to experience it. because for some odd reason my dimension decided to self destruct itself seconds later i was warped off their earth.” you explained.
you felt the tears rebuild themselves, “it wouldn’t even allow me to try to get back there. and the stupid surgery i had gotten wasnt consensual at all! and im just stupid stupid-“ you yelled out in frustration. miles grabbed your hands and pinned them over your head.
the different position made you stand up right infront of miles, “stop talking to yourself like that, okay?”
“you’re not stupid, you’re not anything. you mí luz del sol.” miles said, he looked in your eyes with full sincerity.
“i think..” you giggled, “i think were bound to.. miles.” you said look back in his eyes.
“what?” he chuckled softly, releasing your hands from the position. “like..like the song?” he asked.
“yup.” you smirked, “we’re bound to falling in love.”

essay about your fav spiderman NOW!!!
EASY. my favorite spiderman is MILES MORALES!!! this will contain spoilers for the comics, ps4 game, and spiderverse films. ALSO! its been a hot minute since i read the miles morales ultimate spiderman comics so if i get something wrong feel free to correct me :3 i doubt anyone will because. people dont read comics much anymore but :33
miles morales is my favorite spiderman because god no one is going through it like him. if you have only seen him in itsv/atsv you would probably think oh yeah his uncle dying and then 2099 trying to make sure his dad dies is pretty fucked up. which it is!!! itsv!miles is consistently going through it. but when you compare him to the comics its like oh okay. they cut him some slack actually
in the comics, peter parker dies and miles morales becomes spiderman, similar to itsv. but miles is 13 when this happens. at the ripe age of 13 he is going through the average spiderman trauma. the worst in my opinion would be his relationship with his uncle aaron, which is NOT as happy and loving as they make it in itsv. in the comics, aaron finds out that he is spiderman, and then uses this against him. he forces him to do his dirty work, and take care of enemies hes made as the prowler. if miles refuses, aaron says he will tell his dad that hes spiderman.
side note: jeff morales is NOTHING like he is in the spiderverse films. he hates mutants, and assumes that spiderman must be some kind of mutant, therefore hates spiderman
anyways, miles and aarons relationship gets so strained that they end up getting into this huge fight. aarons weapons that he gets from the tinkerer end up short circuiting when miles shocks him, and aaron DIES. the thing is, miles doesnt know that his gear was faulty. so he is fully under the impression that he just KILLED his uncle.
more shit happens after this but im going to now talk about his NEXT most fucked thing ever. in the comics, venom is portrayed as an almost animalistic creature. he seems to be completely in control of eddie. and venom is completely obsessed with spiderman. i dont know exactly what their relationship is but venom has this strange primal urge to Find Him. so when peter parker dies, he finds miles. i cant remember exactly why, but he ends up in the hospital that rio morales works at. police are called into the hospital and since theyre fucking cops, start OPEN FIRING into this room full of patients and medical professionals. AND SHE IS SHOT AND DIES.
so at this point, 2/3 of miles’ close family members are dead. all he has is his dad, who hates spiderman.
then miles’ universe is attacked by galactus, who if you dont know is a giant planet eating alien. basically they are in an apocalyptic hell. and miles can only think about saving his dad. its all he cares about. his dad is the only person that matters in this moment. so he comes in through the window of their apartment, dressed as spiderman, and he says that they HAVE to get out of there. he HAS to keep him safe. it doesnt matter that hes spiderman anymore, his dad shouldnt care! the planet is being fucking eaten!!!! but jefferson morales immediately turns and runs the other way. and once galactus is defeated, miles cannot find him. the apartment is bare. his father is gone. he doesnt know if hes alive or dead.
miles has 0 family to take care of him. his only support system is ganke (his ‘guy in the chair’, his universe version of ned leeds basically) his girlfriend kate bishop, and his borderline parental polycule mj watson, gwen stacy, and spiderwoman. WHICH BTW. spiderwoman sees peter parker die, and immediately is so attached to miles. like that is her baby and she will NOT let anythint happen to him
his relationship with jessica drew is so damn important to me. because theyre both avengers and initially, she does Not want him there. she doesnt want to have to work with some kid, and she does not think the world needs another spiderman, i mean they have her right? later on though its revealed that she just really cared about peter parker and him dying absolutely destroyed her. she doesnt want the same thing to happen to miles. and after the galactus event, miles quits being spiderman. and she tries everything in her power to get him to come back. that is her son. sobbing
i would also like to mention that ganke is Very into miles. and everyone can tell. kate tells him. his dad tells him. its very obvious.
ANYWAYS. this is as far as ive read in the comics but holy SHIT man. that is a fucking ton to go through as a 13 year old!!! thats fucked up!!!!!! holy shit!!!!!!!!
and then in the insomniac game hes grown up. his father is dead. and his childhood best friend is a supervillain. i would HIGHLY recommend playing the game honestly it is amazing and i LOVE their version of the tinkerer.
another thing i love about miles morales is ganke. he hasnt really been fleshed out in the spiderverse films but he is so cool. in the insomniac game he creates an app that has people tell spiderman their problems and then he can go help them out. which is AWESOME because i love side quests. in the comics, miles goes to live with him after his dad leaves. and hes just so fucking kind. hes the only person miles tells hes spiderman and theyre just so close and it makes me smile hard.
the main reason i love miles morales so much is that my nephew loves him, he dressed up as him for halloween a couple years ago. so every time i see him i think about my nephew. hes my best friend man
uhmm if you made it this far thank you for listening to me being soooo autistic
