She strode over to them, one hand on her hip. As it looked around, she crept up behind them before swiftly scooping them into their arms with an alarmed yelp from the blonde.

"Normally you hear me coming. Wow, you really are tired," At her words, S huffed, blushing and crossing their arms. V only chuckled at this, deploying her wings once more. I originally wanted to have the beads be a mitama reference, but there's only 4 and I wanted six beads so I ended up going with something else.

Now, they're arranged as rough opposites. The white one reads as 直(す) (nao[su]) "to repair/mend" or "to cure." It's also the kanji seen in 直毘神 (Naobi no Kami), the name of a god of purification who quells calamities. They (together with Izunome) were born to oppose—guess who—禍津日神 (Magatsuhi no Kami)!

The red orb is 禍 (maga). Magatsuhi no Kami is a god of calamity who causes disaster to fall upon the realm, born when Izanagi "exorcised the impurity of hell" from his body after a trip to the underworld. However, some believe that appeasing Magatsuhi no Kami can prevent disaster. In such cases, Magatsuhi no Kami is usually enshrined alongside Naobi no Kami (see above link).

As you may have guessed, the "Nahobino" of the game is inspired by Naobi no Kami. Fascinating how they have the Nahobino use the power of the Magatsuhi, isn't it? Purification and calamity...

Anyway! The last two. The green orb is 神 (kami), which can be plainly translated as "god" or "deity." Taken a bit further, it refers to "the divine" and opposed to "the profane" or "the mundane." The blue is 産(み) (u[mi]), "birth." 神産み (kamiumi) as a word refers to the birth of the Shinto deities following the creation of the islands. Taken more broadly, it can refer to the idea of "the birth of a new god."

You can only just barely see it, but opposite of the 産 is 滅(び) (horo[bi]), which can be summed up as "to fall to ruin" or "to be destroyed."

I was originally going to have 神 arranged so you could see its opposite but I couldn't come up with a good enough "opposite." I thought maybe 魔 (ma) which is like, "demon/evil spirit," but one of the kanji for けがれ (kegare) ("impure" "dirty" "blaspheme") would also work really well...but it also might be too similar to 禍? Idk. Anyway it ended up not mattering 'cause you can't see it.

Kiss Kiss Kiss: I LOOOOOVE how much this messes with the previous vibe. It works so well. The opening guitars are v cool. Yoko's side 1 sound is so varied and does such cool blending of genres. Like there's a ska thing going on here? I am also lowkey um. kind of into her noises. 9/10

Cleanup-Time: this is definitely a silly-goofy song but it is suuuuuuuch a banger. I love the moments of high tension. "Now it begins" and the "well, well, well." bits. It adds a darkness to the song. The horn section went offffff. 9/10

Give Me Something: Absolutely Insane. the best use of Yoko's vocals and style imaginable. The production is immaculate. 10/10

I'm Losing You: Absolutely Insane Pt. II. The bridge bit "Now in the valley of indecision" is sooooo devastating (+ it's an obscure biblical reference! literary beatle At It Again). This song builds so well, I love how genuinely upset he sounds towards the end, breaking down on "Don't wanna hear about it!!!!" and generally how his voice gets nasty at certain moments. The song feels like slowly and extremely painfully discovering irreconcilable differences. The guitars in each verses breakdown moment sound like alarm bells. It's an immaculate breakup-or-almost song. The sound is so good, the harmonies are great. The guitar solo is crazy!!!!!! (it actually reminds me of George's work on How Do You Sleep? but without the cringe!!) THE PRODUCTION IS CRAZY OKAY?????? 10/10

I'm Moving On: the most insane follow-up to the previous song. He laid his deepest fears bear and she said "And What Of It???" The lyric "When you were angry you had love in your voice" keeps me up at night. But BANGER of a bassline and funky fresh nonetheless. Most effective song transition on the album and most of them are good to great! 9.5/10

Beautiful Boy: Absolute devastation aside, I must confess I find this song a little more boring musically. Though I do appreciate the adventurousness of the vocoder and the bridge is gorgeous. The outro is nice and really relaxing. 7/10

Watching The Wheels: I love John Lennon and I want him to be okay :( also the way the song slows down at the end of the chorus is soooooooo much to me. Like it hurts my heart. I like his talk-singing here, it really works for the vibe. The lyrics are kind of depressing despite the fact they're on the surface positive. But I think the question of what constitutes a happy life is interesting and deep at its core. 8/10

Yes, I'm Your Angel: I love that John is sharing an album with a granny song again. Nature is healing. I vibe with this and it suits Yoko surprisingly well. Tralala, as you say. But it's insane of Yoko to call John her fairy. Girl. STOP. 7/10

Woman: It's distinctly more boring than anything else John wrote for this album but I do enjoy it and find it sweet for the most part (aside from the horrors). The production reminds me a lot of Here, There and Everywhere. 6/10

Beautiful Boys: this is the least good one. It is just musically pretty uninteresting and the lyrics are kind of clunky. But the intro and instrumental bits sound cool tbh and I like how the production builds. "You've got all you can carry / And still feel somehow empty." OKAY???? 5/10

Dear Yoko: cute!! The sounds are very fun. "Even when I watch TV / There's a hole where you're supposed to be / There's no body lying next to me" is soooooooo much. I like the silly voice he puts on and I LOOOOVE the spoken bit at the end :((( 7/10

Hard Times Are Over: I like this song!! It's sweet. The melodies are good, very cool playing between minor and major. I also like how the "over" ties back in with Starting Over. It works well as an album closer. Though Of Course, one begins to wonder what these hard times were exactly when the album cut off mid-conflict. Makes You Think. (This album gives me brainrot!!!!) Anyway I like Yoko's vocal here a lot and I like John joining on the refrains in the background :) 7.5/10

They're a young talented artist who makes their own music videos, and while the visuals can be a bit crude and pretty out-of-context, the artstyle is fantastic and the animation very smooth.

The music itself is characterized by its very surreal lyrics and dream-like rhythm, I find it satisfyingly trippy, and oddly relaxing.

They're working on a more elaborate series-kind of work lately, I think you should really give them a shot !

Genuinely curious to hear your take on that trailer? My biggest question after watching it was how much control did they actually have? Because early on she was leaking bout how much they had, how much they were going to air out again, how the royal family should be SO nervous for this. And it appears as though this was the case early on, they filmed private moments and gave intimate photographs but something about it screams that level of control was taken away at some point?

Did they have any control over when this trailer was released? because the timing is certainly a choice. One that is so blatantly obvious and they're (rightfully so) catching Alot of flack for it.

On the flip side a Christmas release day for the actual show? (1000% confirmation they aren't spending Christmas together as if that was even a question, to begin with) That screams to me that Netflix wants to bury this project because they don't have any faith in it. But they're catching ALOT of flack for this also because its the day after Catherines Christmas gathering is released.

SO if they didn't choose the timing of the trailer drop or the release date, did they have the ability to edit it at all? Or is the reason were randomly getting reconciliation rumors again, is because she knows a nuke is about to drop?

I don't think she had the amount of control she wanted. She viewed this from the start an extension of the cut interview and those first few podcast episodes where she was lowkey threatening the family. Alot has changed since september and I think they're freaking out how to move forward.

My thought is that based on her recent interviews their control was taken away at some point.

I think they’ve been filming pretty much the whole time they’ve been in the US but then we’re dragging their feet about putting anything together because they knew if they released anything it was a nail in the coffin. So then they tried to regroup on the project and sell it as “a love story” & it wasn’t working bc they didn’t have enough/any footage from the beginning of their relationship/marriage… and the clock was ticking.

So Netflix came in and was like “okay - this is going out by end of the year, we’re taking over” and that’s when Meghan started doing her backpedaling interviews about “it’s someone else’s lens” bc she didn’t (at the time) know what’s in it but she knew there was TONS of dramatic, insulting, pot stirring content for Netflix to pull from.

As far as the trailer release, and all of that, I think that was just strategic by Netflix. When they (Netflix) do reality shows it’s very common for them to only give a month or a couple of weeks (or even less) before the premiere date with their first trailer and I think they just honestly wanted it out by the end of the year.

Christmas day is it actually kind of popular time for like highly anticipated things to drop (big movies often drop on Christmas Day) because people are home they’re in front of the TV, especially Christmas night after festivities have ended, a lot of people are just kind of like cozy and relaxing.

But more than that I think that it was just a matter of trying to get it out before the end of the year. Probably for budget purposes. We had heard that The Sussexes wanted edits & to release next year & Netflix was like “nope.”

Dropping the trailer on a day when there was already a ton of Royal buzz I think it was absolutely strategic & pretty smart. They’re literally in the business of selling drama - so by dropping on Day 1 of Boston they were fueling that “us v them” flame even further. Plus able to get extra column inches bc the trailer drop was in its own articles plus like every article about Boston for the entire 3 days.

I think a lot of my designing came into terms of a lot of Frizz's wrinkling due to how much she smiled, while "smile marks" are frowned upon i think frizz is utterly joyed by them

I TRIED MY BEST TO BASE IT OFF the little images i had of her from toypatch's doodles that i was given while giving her some twinge of design not shown like frizz's contrasting ginger and grey hair

im considering adding scars around in some areas but not in an edgy sense but the fact that this girl has faced so many mishaps she IS NOT THE UNSCATHED LORD i dont even think they'd be traumatizing she'd patch them up and then see the scar and b like "oh lol" and then go on with her day or something

BONESY V

When I created Bonesy, I had little idea for Bonesy. My main ideas, being that like Frizz, Bonesy had constant smile marks. Within the MSB franchise, its practically canon that Bonesy is trans ("oh its a character change" die), and so I added some features along with some of my hc personality. Bonesy has always had self inserting within me because I resonated with bonesy the first time I watched the episode with bonesy. I always hced Bonesy with AUDHD, with myself having it, Im often forgetful of things, and which I projected Bonesy to have the same lifestyle, almost charmingly forgetful. The idea is that bonesy forgets half of the time to take her estrogen leaving her with this reoccurring mustache that pops up through weeks and months at a time but I don't think Bonesy has the effort to shave it. I also think that Bonesy has kept the same outfit over the years, considering its her work uniform, so that being said bonesy's outfit hasn't changed over the years. Although I think off duty Bonesy wears a lot of more comfortable clothes like Pajama pants or something like that considering they're near retirement. I think she finds herself majority of the time relaxing with Frizz and Molly (next character in my list.) MOLLY V

I had every idea for Molly, its just not as obvious as you're seeing molly. Considering Molly is a singer, I took the mentality that some actors/singers has this effort to constantly look young and pretty and so I put it with Molly's design. I kept everything relatively the same since considering I don't think there's a lot of things Molly would change about herself in 10 or so years, and so molly remains mostly the same, the only change being internal, like plastic surgery or some unhealthy habits.

So how did you guys meet, well mostly because of Yuzuha,

One day in like elementary you’re walking home and you see this super pretty middle school girl just like yelling at this small group of guys

The guys end up running off just because they don’t wanna deal with her or the attention she's drawn to them

Behind her was a boy, taller than her but obviously younger. You didn’t assume they knew eachother though.

The boy and yuzuha began walking in opposite directions because one was going home while the other was going to pick up something like groceries

You’re so entranced by how she stood up to them yet she’s a girl who was far smaller and you end up catching up to her, almost stepping on her heels

You end up absent mindedly following her into the grocery store and eventually she just freezes, turns, and stare directly at you

Your eyes widen since you must’ve been staring and she just goes “may I ask why you’re following me?” And you explain how cool she was earlier. She invites you over for dinner (esp since her older brother won’t be home) and figured it’d be good for Hakkai to meet someone his age

You end up going over but Hakkai didn’t come down to eat so you never actually got to meet him, though from then on you would see Yuzuha every so often, visit every other weekend or so

But no matter how often you came over the next few months, you never once met hakkai,

That was until you both reached the end of your middle school education and we’re about to begin high school

You had gone over because you were going to borrow an old work book from Yuzuha, and when you go to knock on the door the door opens before your closed fist could hit it, instead hitting a firm chest

You blush and quickly apologize but the person in front of you doesn’t move at all, doesn’t say anything and almost looks like they drifted into space with their dead stare

You assume this is yuzuha’s older brother because you’ve also never met him and you immediately turn to walk away but Yuzuha calls over hakkai’s shoulder

“Y/N-Chan! You just got here where are you going?” This was def not yuzuha’s older brother. There’s no way she’d be that happy with him around; oh my god. Realization hit, the guy who you hit (though it was more of a tap) was hakkai.

The hakkai you had only caught a glimpse of in yuzuha’s photos, never talked to or actually seen in person despite going to the same school and living in the same neighborhood

Yuzuha drags hakkai back inside and invites you in; you sit down with them in the living room and watch hakkai visibly relax now that he’s inside his house, his own space, with a pillow behind him and a blanket covering his lower half, he almost curls up into it as he continues to avoid your stare

“Hi hakkai…Kun? Im L/N Y/N” you say and you see his face dead pan once again

Yuzuha can be heard laughing from the kitchen as she comes back in.

She leans over and begins explaining that hakkai literally just freezes with any interaction between him and girls who aren’t in his family

You nod, thinking maybe it’s an anxiety thing? Which is the case with you, but only because he’s been watching you since you’ve come over (not in a creepy way) wanting to and working the courage up to talk to you

The 5th or so time you came over after that encounter he was inches away from introducing himself before the house phone rang causing everyone to kind of “wake up” in a sense

Every time since then he gets closer and closer but isn’t able to say anything; he even realizes he has a crush on you.

How your forehead scrunches up when you’re trying to figure something out and you end up just sitting back with a small huff followed by yuzuha’s signature laughter.

It’s also a huge thing that you get along with Yuzuha.

So enough with first meeting time for the confession.

He ends up confessing accidentally. He didn’t know you were coming over to begin with so he was flustered out of his mind. And how was he supposed to know you hadn’t actually fallen asleep and you could hear him over the tv

The tv was more white noise than anything and the day was hot since it was the middle of summer causing the window to be open and the sound of soft wind and small birds to drift in; this was the hot that makes you tired so you were all sprawled out of just sitting in a daze

So while resting your head on the table you’re dozing in and out but then you hear hakkai begin to speak, something he never really did around you

Now did you and hakkai text? Yes. Did it take him an hour to reply because his brain would explode when you replied to him? Yes. But was it a start to communication? Also a yes.

You hear him say your name quietly before he moved closer, you can feel his gaze on your features

“I like you” is all he says. Simple and sweet. But you sit there in shock, trying not to blush so he’ll have no idea you heard him but he can tell because your forehead scrunches

You heard him and are focused on if you should reply or not. And he knows that.

You open your eyes and just look up at him, he’s closer than expected. His hand close to yours on the floor and he reaches over and grabs it lightly. Hoping you’ll also return the gesture by holding his hand instead of leaving your hand limp inside his.

And you do, thank goodness, and Hakkai almost mentally can’t handle it.

Once you start dating it’s more so just hanging out at his house or yours; however he talks a bit more and you text a lot more. He’s gotten better at replying. It usually takes him like 15 minutes now

He’s kinda stressed about your relationship but not due to anything you or him did

He’s stressed because of the mentality his older brother gave him

Is he even allowed to be this happy?

He finally has someone thats small enough and naive enough that he can protect you; compared to constantly being protected it’s a sudden, strong, yet good change for him

He’s touch s t a r v e d

Yes Yuzuha shows affection; but he stopped accepting her hugs when he was around 8 just because he physically wasn’t able to handle it due to his bruises and such

But with you, even with his bruises and all you take care of him. Able to coax him into using medicines and toning down the physical violence (that he can control himself)

He also finds it super soothing when you lightly brush over his scars (especially those that his brother gave him), it helps him believe that scars are only physical and can fade with help

One thing that stresses him out the most is trying to hide you from his brother. Any time you leave something at the house its easy to pass it off as yuzuha's but when it comes to things like photos he has with you, he can't hang them up, show them off, or have them as his phone Lock Screen, etc. because he just really doesn't want his brother to know and target you since he'll then know that you're his weakness (aside from yuzuha as well)

Sometimes won't explain why he can't hang out and has legit pushed you out of his house before at the last minute notice of his brother coming home

Will always make sure you get home safe though, usually by having Yuzuha go with you since then she can just say you're a friend from school

Your parents love him, though they were a bit hesitant it became a "you always have a place to stay" because they learned about their family situation from you and yuzuha. So expect him to spend the night when he's too scared to deal with his brother. Same with yuzuha. (yes I know this isn't yuzuha head canons but its hard to write for him without mentioning her when they're so close)

We're talking three person sleep overs. Yuzuha and you of course share the bed and Hakkai takes some time to even set foot in your room much less sleep on a mattress that's on the floor

He has a small heart attack every time he comes into your room because he's overwhelmed with everything, he's never been so comfortable and it makes him feel restless. Like he's never and I mean n e v e r been less stressed and slept better than when he does so in your room

The smell, the colors, just being surrounded by you is something that completely changes his mood

Once showed up after he fought with his brother, tears in his eyes and clothes a bit tattered and you just pulled him to your room, and sat down with him.

You laid on your bed with him laying down onto of you, head on your chest as you rubbed his head and only said a few words "its not your fault"

He ends up crying so hard he falls asleep and gets dehydrated and you have to make him drink a bunch of water when he finally wakes up.
