(grabbing your face) do you remember simon fairchild's statement about how he became an avatar. how he fell and the sky embraced him. i think about it all the time. how it would feel to be embraced by the vast. the entity that is about how you are insignificant before the endless void, holding you. the fact that being an avatar of the vast means loving a contradiction: you are insignificant and the entity of the vastness of everything else holds you in its embrace and takes away your mortality.
i wonder if when simon told that one guy enjoy sky blue if the reason he laughed while saying it was because he was sharing his own joy. if in his own way he wasn't being generous, sharing the experience that changed him forever. i wonder if as much as he spreads terror, maybe what he really wanted was to share that experience, and that's why he picked someone who loves sky-diving, someone who was also in love with the sky.
i wonder if that guy who was eaten by the sky isn't out there now, saying the sky held him gently in the huge jaws of endless blue, and he cried with joy as he understood. if what for his mother was a horrible experience that killed her son, for him wasn't the liberation from his mortal life and worries before the realization that we are nothing.
i wonder if simon was afraid, too, before he was in love or while he was in love with it, if he can even distinguish his love for the vast from his fear from it or it's just another facet of his adoration, something he can offer to it, if when he said he loved the sky he meant it like that, like we often love a god, with fear as strong as our adoration.

I am nearing the end of TMA S4 and I am terrified. Hello there! Welcome back to “rando screams over TMA S4” I’m your host and we have uh 7 episodes to talk about!
MAG 150: Cul-de-sac
Nothing I hate more than the suburbs. I remember I theorized before listening that this was The Lonely but throughout it, I was thinking The Spiral was also involved. Then that gave me a thought I should’ve had way earlier: can statements have multiple entities involved?? Like would there really be a downside (for the entities)? I mean you get your fear. It’s just a team effort y’know?
Also yay Melanie! Fight against the power (please don’t die I’m begging you). Although I am still suspicious about her therapist
MAG 151: Big Picture
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD ITS SIMON FAIRCHILD. I was reeling during this guys. I don’t know why all The Vast avatars are so…nice??? Well that’s not the right word. Carefree I suppose? (Also what bet was Simon talking about. Dude.) Im also still very curious about the dynamics between the patrons/avatars. The way they all sabotage each others rituals. The different rivalries. It’s so fun.
MAG 152: A Gravediggers Envy
Man this dude loves dirt. Interesting how he refers to the entity by the actual title without ever being told. Intuition I guess. It was interesting to hear Helen again whose laugh is sounding more and more like Michael’s. Anyways the tunnels are going to be very important later on, aren’t they?
MAG 153: Love Bombing
God I hate cults. Also that clear residue has appeared many other times in The Corruption related statements (MAG 36, MAG 55). Potential connection.
TREVOR AND JULIA 🫶🫶🫶 you guys eat but also like stfu. The way they bounce off each other reminds of Breekon and Hope. Love Daisy but I am worried now. She also growled like an animal. Not figuratively like it actually sounded like a wolf or something
MAG 154: Bloody Mary
God damn it Eric. God. First, no one can ever have a nice life here hug? Second, little Michael mention by Eric (and Emma. Who is Emma? Will she be important?) third, you have to GOUGE out your eyes to quit? What the hell?
Martin and Jon’s talk. God that was basically a declaration of love. I’m going insane. Martin low key psychoanalyzed Jon and it was heart wrenching
MAG 155: Cost of Living
Basira, like I disagree with her on a lot, but man she is so interesting. Also screaming about how she won’t leave because of Daisy oh my god please. Onto the statement; yeah this was a pretty cool avatar. Like, the absolute delusion was the funniest thing ever like god damn.
But MELANIE. Oh my god. I’m like hella impressed by her will power, I guess I wasn’t the one who is trapped in a job and traumatized, but still. I’m worried. Please don’t die girlie, I’ve already lost multiple of my favorite characters
MAG 156: Reflection
I need to know more on Adelard Dekker like I need to know his full backstory. I love how Martin talks to the tape recorders like they’re a pet or something? Does The Eye notice? Or care? Anyways, with every statement, The Extinction rises on my ranking on “how scared would I be if I encountered this TMA entity”
I’m scared for Martin. I don’t know what device it is, maybe a book? I don’t know but
“How does that make you feel?”
“Nothing. Nothing at all”
What if I just *rips out hair and rolls around on the ground* I CANT. MARTIN PLEASE. YOURE MY FAVORITE GUY :(
Okay. Okay. That’s all the episodes.
I have 4 episodes left in season four. I am very worried. I’m going to pray for Martins safety. My next post will be the season four finale so watch out for that!! I really hope everyone will be okay but I know deep down that they won’t. That’s not how this works
#the magnus archives#tma#zabala0z thoughts#tma podcast#tma s4#the magnus archives season 4#ALSO#WHAT HAPPENED TO MELANIE#IS SHE OKAY???#DID SHE GOUGE OUT HER EYES LIKE SHE SAID???#PLEASE GIRL#god#I don’t want to finish this podcast#like what will I do with my life after it?

I know we learn very little about Harriet Fairchild but I do suspect that in MAG 21 Freefall, she's....flirting? Courting, perhaps?
She's worked with Robert Kelly for a while. He's an obsessivley passionate skydiver. She's a FAIRCHILD.
When he finally falls out of the fear dimension, she's waiting for him at the bottom. Simon is gone! Harriet stuck around to see how he's doing.
Throwing him into the vast was a test to see if he'd make a good avatar, that's pretty obvious. But they'd know right away that it hadn't worked, right? They feed on fear. I ASSUME they can tell the difference between "guy who is terrified but also loves it and wants to join your evil extreme sports family" and "guy who is just terrified". Simon goes home! Simon isn't going to wait around to chat with prey.
But Harriet is there. Waiting for him. Maybe she doesn't know he failed the test. Maybe its ambiguous and she's hoping that he'll say something that tips the scales towards "I DO share your passions as a fear avatar and would like to do this again some time".
I acknowledge I have a big soft monsterlover heart but: Harriet Fairchild worked with Robert Kelly, Normal Skydiving Fanatic, for MONTHS at her family's fear farm/fake skydiving company. She thought she might be able to make a deeper (and. Vaster.) connection with him. The date went badly! and she still liked him enough to stick around and make sure he got home safe.
And then, , she ate him. ♥

I wanted to wait for Wednesday, but I crave validation so you'll get that in advance. Buckle your seatbelts, here's my theory. It's probably awful. I'm only at ep 26. You'll get it anyways:
The Magnus Archives but I've cracked the algorithm (maybe)
(if you have just started tma/ don't want to be spoiled, DO NOT READ!)
Okay, so let's start at the beginning.
As we can see, there are a lot of different stories with little to no recurring characters. At first, I tried to classify them with themes, but that didn't really work, so I tried to look at the characters. Thing is, I classified them in 4 categories:
"Normal people": Jalapeño, the people who make a statement about their neighbours/ loved ones, probably the others Archive workers. They're Just Like Me And You. Potential future Victims?
The Victims: people the statements are about. Influenced by Something, they adopt unnatural behaviours, live in fear till their death. They always die at some point.
The Shepherds : I don't have a better name, but think of them as avatars for Something. Like the victims, they're influenced, but to a point where they evolve (physically, mentally, or can get supernatural abilities). The thing that marked them keeps them alive, and they act as kind of "recruiters", finding and trapping Victims (Jane Prentiss spreading the worm agenda to other people, for example). Simon-probably-fairchild, Not-graham, the pile of meat with eyes in the neighbour's flat are all Shepherds.
The Deities : are they gods? Demons? Supernatural entities ? I don't know. The point is, we don't have a lot of proof of their existence, but they're the "Up There" who started everything. The giant eye in the camera (episode where Gerard gets to the hospital) is a Deity. The Piper is a Deity. The sky who ate the son is another one. When the priest is in the haunted building, there is a fight between the Thing that claimed him as its servant (which will cause his death) and the Thing that lives in the house. Both Things are Deities. Therefore, we can guess that there are many of them, and that a person can be affiliated to one and a single one Deity.
So, what I am saying is, there are Bad Guys Up There that control Bad Guys Down There, and all of that causes humans to experience pretty common fears brought to an unbearable point.
For the moment, I found 9 Deities:
Giant Eye (paranoia? Being watched? Voyeurism? Idk...)
The Piper (war and massacre?)
The Soul-Sucking Sky (agoraphobia? Being alone?)
The thing that possessed the exorcist (idk what it is, but it's a thing)
The thing in the house (fire? Being burnt?)
Jane Prentiss' squirmy patron (rotting? )
The meat pile's chef (meat? Why is meat scary?)
A thing that is behind all the spiders. There are too many spiders there.
Not-graham's employer (the Unknown? Being replaced?)
So...yeah. I don't know if I'm right. My theory has many problems. But that's the best I can think of. Validate me?

DBD mutual here. Wondering if you could explain all the acronyms you use in your other fandom (Last Hours?) because I try to keep up and it's impossible lol
I know we like Cordelia and Matthew and we don't like Julius
Forgot to answer this earlier in the day, lol, but I love you for that last sentence. His name is Julian, not Julius, but I'm going to call him Julius from now on because he canonically is glad that it's not his name and fuck that guy.
SO! The Shadowhunter Chronicles (TSC) is a long saga of books. It follows several generations of demon hunters as they navigate supernatural politics, interpersonal relationships, and world-ending scenarios.
The author, Cassandra Clare, does a wonderful job with developing three-dimensional characters and stories. She is one of my biggest role models as a writer and I hope that I can craft as compelling characters as she does. Her style of writing also has a massive influence on mine.
My favourite of these series is by far The Last Hours (TLH), set in 1903. The main character, and one of my favourites, is Cordelia Carstairs. You may know her from my profile picture! The male main character, James Herondale, is another favourite. He calls her Daisy. As a result, their ship name is Herondaisy.
Matthew Fairchild is my favourite-ever fictional character, and he is one of the other TLH mains. He's dear to me. Other favourite TLH characters you likely hear me talk about a lot are Thomas Lightwood and Alastair Carstairs, who make up my favourite-ever ship Thomastair. Cordelia and Alastair are also siblings.
Other TLH-related acronyms you may see here are:
ChoG -> Chain of Gold, the first book
ChoI -> Chain of Iron, the second book
ChoT -> Chain of Thorns, the third book
CLS -> Cast Long Shadows, a short story about Matthew
NBS -> Nothing But Shadows, a short story about James and Matthew
EET -> Every Exquisite Thing, a short story about another TLH character Anna who I like quite a lot
You also may see me talk about A Sea Change (ASC), an upcoming novella about Matthew, and Better in Black (BiB), an upcoming short story collection that will have short stories about Herondaisy, Thomastair, and several other ships.
Anyway! The other series you likely see me post about a lot is The Infernal Devices (TID). This series is set in 1878 and is about the TLH character's parents!
You likely hear me talk most about Will Herondale and Tessa Gray, ship-name Wessa and parents of James Herondale.
You also likely hear me talk most about Sophie Collins and Gideon Lightwood, ship-name Sophideon and parents of Thomas Lightwood.
Its wonderful books are:
CA -> Clockwork Angel
CP1 -> Clockwork Prince
CP2 -> Clockwork Princess
I like most of the TLH and TID characters, but the ones I've mentioned are my blorbos. <3
Cordelia, Matthew, Thomas, Alastair, and Edwin Payne (in no particular order) are my life-altering, insane, best-friend, untoppable blorbos. James, Tessa, Will, Charles Rowland, and Niko Sasaki (also in no particular order) are also very much up there with them.
There's also a series called The Mortal Instruments (TMI) about those character's descendants. It's set in 2007. Wonderful series, and I adore it very much! TMI is technically the main series of TSC. You probably see me talk most about Simon Lovelace and Isabelle Lightwood, whose ship name is Sizzy. But I love most of the TMI cast.
There's also another series called The Eldest Curses (TEC) that acts as a companion to TMI. It's lovely.
The Dark Artifices (TDA) is another modern-day TSC series set in 2012. It's the one I don't like. You probably see me bitch and moan most frequently about Julian Blackthorn (who I will now be calling Julius, thank you) and Emma Carstairs. Their ship name is Blackstairs, and when they hold hands or breathe, I want them dead <3
The Wicked Powers (TWP) is set to be the final series in the Shadowhunter world. It is going to begin its publication in 2026, which is exciting! I am currently pretty cautiously neutral about it (since it involves TDA characters heavily), but Cassandra Clare is an EXTREMELY talented writer in general and I think it has the potential to be a wonderful series. So, excited as well as cautious!

TMA - Chapters 51-60: Supernatural grandpas and Spider Gang members
Welcome back to my weekly rambling about ten new TMA chapters.
New theories are born, old ones are dead and stupid ones are rising. Will they be right? Will they be wrong? Is everyone’s name actually Michael? How will my mind be blasted by these ten new chapters?
Only one way to find out.
<< Main Masterlist < Previous post
_______________________________
MAG 51 - High Pressure
When I read that Simon Fairchild was in this story, I immediately went “Uh?”. Why is he here? What is he doing here?
And most importantly, what did he say to Mrs. Haley, before she jumped into the water? I bet it’s something like “Enjoy the water”, just like he said “Enjoy the sky” to Robert in MAG 21. This man keeps waking up and choosing violence. Mood.
But hey, maybe that’s because he’s an old guy. After all, older people are the most stubborn/tough creatures ever and the older you are, the tougher you become.
Also, what kind of creepy supernatural shit is Mr. Fairchild? A colossal hungry monster? The first time, the sky ate Robert. Now, the water tries to grab Antonia. It reminds me of the colossal figure from ex Altiora, but we already have a Michael associated with the Vast, so who is Simon? Another Vast? The Grandfather of the Vast? Is ‘Simon’ his middle name and the first one is actually Michael? That would explain everything XD
Uh, so the table from MAG 3 isn’t a fractal, but more of a web. And Graham was caught by it. I suppose that means we should ask Spider Mom about him - and about Sasha too.
It’s also very interesting the following part of the discussion, in which Jon asked:
“I thought that was... I... whatever crawled through his window. Unless you think they’re linked, somehow?”
To which Not!Sasha replied:
“I doubt it. It didn’t sound like the sort of thing that would want to be bound to an object.”
So this imposter thing doesn’t want to be bound to an object (like the table), but it really enjoys stealing bodies. Isn’t that similar to “being bound to an object”? Maybe this imposter just wants a living, breathing thing, instead of an inanimate one. It makes me think of Michael and the concept of identity for these creatures: is stealing bodies the only way this supernatural shit knows to have its own identity?
No, I refuse to start feeling empathy for this supernatural shit. You are an imposter and I will look at you with suspicion. I will not imagine you looking at the wax statues in Madame Tussaud’s Museum and pondering about existence, identity and humanity. I won’t.
_______________________________
MAG 52 - Exceptional Risk
As soon as Robert Montauk was mentioned, I immediately remembered him from MAG 9. And here he is, the guy who killed a shit ton of people and kept hearts in his shed because he was dealing with some supernatural shit.
Jon asked if he was “summoning it, containing it, worshipping it”, which are all valid questions. Also, I find it very telling that the first verb he uses is “summoning” and not “containing”, considering that the dark guy told Montauk: “You didn’t think you could kill it for long, did you?”.
Personally, I think Mr. Montauk was trying to contain that supernatural shit and the only way to do so was by killing a shit ton of people and doing that weird magical circle in his shed. And that somehow “killed” (or at least kept it busy) the shit that took his wife. But since Mr. Montauk was killing a ton of people to do that, it was just a matter of time before someone found out.
(I checked MAG 9 because I also remembered a pendant and yes, his wife had a pendant with a closed eye. Is all of this story somehow related to Big Brother? Or is the closed eye just a charm? A sort of “close your eye and don’t look at me, you scary supernatural shit”?)
We also have a name for another of these supernatural shits! I will keep you in mind, Maxwell Rayner. So you are some sort of monster made of darkness - which reminds me of the creepy monster in MAG 25. Maybe it’s the same creature.
And now, back with the most beautiful love story that exists in Tim’s mind only: the one between Jon and Basira. I think I love her a little more after this episode. I mean, she appeared for a few minutes and:
blasted Martin, by saying that Tim is “the hot one”
blasted Jon, by saying that Tim has his same scars, but he manages to pull them off because he’s so much sexier than Jon
blasted Jon even more, by instantly using the typical sentences for a rejection: It’s not you it’s me, you’re nice and all, etc.
literally said: okay, fine we’ll let Tim think there’s something between us. But stay assured, Jon, that there is nothing
Wow, and here I thought Simon Fairchild was the one who woke up and chose violence. What’s up with all these people waking up and choosing violence? And why they’re all such moods?
Oh, she brought a tape about Alexandria! Is it about the Library of Alexandria? I hope it will be the next one, ‘cause I am very curious to know what it will be about.
_______________________________
MAG 53 - Crusader
That was… something.
I have never heard of the Serapeum of Alexandria before, so kudos for letting me know about it. It’s very interesting and I love that this statement wasn’t about something so obvious and universally well-known as the Library of Alexandria, but another archive.
And archives are the real protagonists of this statement. Archives and archivists. It’s very interesting how Gertrude thought that the mysterious figure wasn’t just a scary supernatural shit, but specifically an archivist. Why an archivist, among all people? Is it because, as Jon said, she was suspecting something? If you become the archivist, you also become a supernatural shit, linked to the archive itself?
It’s also very interesting how Jon says: “Am I just part of a chain? A long, unending string of people who call themselves “the archivist” stretching back to…”. This somehow connects to my theory that Elias/the Lukas family is trying to find someone who will resonate with Big Brother.
Maybe “the Archivist” is the specific title given to this particular person that can resonate with Big Brother. After all, both Michael and Jane referred to Jon as “Archivist” and not “Jon”, “You” or “Doomed Idiot”. Just like Michael calls “the Wanderer” the person who enters its domain, maybe “the Archivist” identifies the person designed for Big Brother?
Oh Martin, you’re too precious: caring for your paranoid boss like this <3 please, at least you: grab him and run away. The spas are waiting.
That can be you, Martin.
_______________________________
MAG 54 - Still Life
This is one of those statements that can be very creepy if you have that specific kind of fear. In this case, if you fear taxidermy or dead, stuffed things, then this story is for you.
Since I do not find them particularly creepy, I wasn’t particularly scared either. I suspected Daniel Rawlings was stuffed too, so the final part wasn’t a big surprise. And he may look different from the missing guy, but the same goes for Not!Sasha - and all of this was basically a huge hint to not trust her. However, since Jon still has no idea what’s wrong with her, he doesn’t get it.
The really interesting part was the supplement. We have Jonathan “Dipper” Sims, Master of Paranoia, now becoming expert burglar. First he watched Tim’s house, now he breaks into Gertrude’s. Next time he will watch Martin sleep, then hopefully police will arrest him (and save him from the Institute).
So Gertrude removed the eyes from everything in her house: another confirmation that Big Brother has one million eyes and can look through them all and this series is suspiciously becoming like Gravity Falls. If Big Brother is triangular too, then I will start to fear the beginning of an Armageddon.
Wait… is this what the war between supernatural shits will bring to? Will this story have its own Weirdmageddon? Oh shit, I really need to know more.
_______________________________
MAG 55 - Pest Control
Wow, this statement was useless.
I mean, not entirely. It just confirmed Jane Prentiss worked alone and that there are other beings like her. I knew it already and I’m surprised Jon didn’t realize it. Who does he think Michael is, if not another supernatural shit? There are supernatural shits everywhere in this goddamn world.
But even if I realized it, the characters had to realize it too. So, even if this seems like a useless chapter from a reader’s perspective, it was necessary for the plot.
Wow, think of this man. Not only he’s still very paranoid regarding Jane Prentiss (with every right, because it’s been barely five months since the attack), but he has been changed so deeply by it, to not even have a normal life anymore. He literally looks back at boring stuff with longing. Poor Jon, I may joke about him, but I sympathize with his struggles.
_______________________________
MAG 56 - Children of the Night
Jon was surprised by this statement and so was I: I didn’t expect a follow up to Trevor Herbert’s previous statement!
This one is pretty useless compared to the first one, but there’s something extremely important and it’s the presence of Spider Mom. Or the spider lady. Whatever: it’s a member of the spider gang, that’s what matters.
I also really liked the image of the woman as this hollow figure, full of spiders and spiderwebs. It kinda reminds me of the Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas, that was full of worms. Pretty cool.
A-ah! We finally found out what was Martin lying about! And it was about his incompetence, lol. Jokes aside, at least he’s not lying about something supernatural/weird/dangerous: he’s just a poor guy trying to help his mother.
If I thought he deserved a vacation before, I am sure now: Martin, please, go on vacation. I’ll pay it for you, just go on a spa and relax.
_______________________________
MAG 57 - Personal Space
What did I say before about specific fears/topics that scare or get you? Well, space is that for me. I’m not exactly scared by it, but I love the concept of being alone/abandoned in space: that fear is something so “otherworldly”, something we would rarely experience here in Earth… it’s fascinating, you know?
So yes, I was happy to read this story and when Mr. Chilcott said the Earth disappeared, as well as the Sun and the Moon, I was even more excited. I love space stuff <3
O-oh! Another member of the creepy Lukas family! Now, who is Conrad Lukas? Evan Lukas’ father, grandpa or uncle? I think these guys should start talking a little bit about their family tree: I have three Lukas by now and no idea how they’re related to each other.
So the businesses involved in this weird project are:
Pinnacle Aerospace, majority owned by the Fairchild family
a large private investment by Nathaniel Lukas
Optic Solutions Limited, a company manufacturing cameras that has its business address in Ny Alesund, Norway.
Or, to translate it from story-to-reader/theorists:
Simon Fairchild, the man related to the sky/sea who wakes up and chooses violence
the umpteenth Lukas
Big Brother’s secret company that makes more electronic eyes to spy on everything
Welp, I trust this project so much now. There’s definitely nothing weird going on here. Are the Fairchilds on the same side of the Lukas in the supernatural war? They’re literally working together like besties, so I suppose yes.
Finally, Jon is starting to suspect a bit about Not!Sasha. Well, Not!Sasha is also trying her best to look as suspicious as possible: she’s literally trying to destroy the statements in which there’s even a fragment of her voice. And the new boyfriend is clearly taken from some magazine. I just hope Jon will realize what’s happening as soon as possible.
_______________________________
MAG 58 - Trail Rations
So, another statement about meat. This time, mixed with the Oregon Trail and cannibalism.
I don’t really know what to think about meat. I mean, fine, it’s a supernatural shit, but… what was doing, in 1845? Was it trying to find a body? Did it just want to become bigger? Maybe it was trying to get Mrs. Carlisle as new body and it will try to do so for years, until it will find out Jared Hopworth… assuming that the meat and the boneturner and the same supernatural shit.
Wow, what a surprise: who would’ve ever guessed that Jon’s coworkers are mad that he’s stalking them like a creep. Poor Tim, my boy deserves a vacation too. Just go with Martin: I’ll pay for you both.
But first, let’s send Jon to a therapist, so he can talk about all of his issues.
_______________________________
MAG 59 - Recluse
And here we are, back on Hill Top Road. This time, we have a special guest: the table from MAG 3, that came back multiple times already. And this time, we know what was in the middle of it: apparently, a box with an apple. And if you eat the apple, you become food for the spider gang. This goddamn spider gang.
Also, what is Agnes? She clearly saved Mr. Sinclair with that kiss on the cheek, because it brought him back to his senses and helped him escape from the spider nest or whatever it was. So either she is another supernatural shit… or she’s a supernatural shit. No other possible choices :P
Wow Jon, who would’ve ever guessed that your coworkers don’t like to work with you, if you keep being creepy and paranoid with them? Maybe if you stop acting like a creep for one split second...
I like to think they’re all conspiring to send him to therapy. One of these days, they will lock Jon inside his office with a therapist and leave them alone, until Jon manages to talk about all of his paranoid thoughts.
_______________________________
MAG 60 - The Observer Effect
So we can resume this statement as follows:
Christopher Meyer was minding his own business and living his life, when he suddenly decided to stick his nose into “outer cults” or, as the statement explains:
“small organized groups of worshippers whose beliefs weren’t simply deviations from paganism or other major religions, but seemed to focus on holy beings or concepts completely apart from what would be considered normal religious practice. Some seemed to have more in common with ancient shamanism than with organized hierarchical worship, and all were highly secretive.”
So, he went to the Magnus Institute, where all the stories about these supernatural shits are kept. And among holy beings like Mr. Boneturner and concepts like the fog, the meat and Michael, he found a mirror related to Big Brother. And that’s what probably made him a recluse.
So, when Mrs. Meyer took it, she suffered his same fate of being watched all the time by Big Brother… at least until one day she woke up and chose violence. But, like, real violence.
I’ll admit it: taking a van full of petrol and trying to destroy the institute was probably the best and the most badass move ever, so Rosa Meyer immediately rises to the status of world savior.
It looks like the Institute’s team decided to not lock Jon in his office with a therapist, but to simply do an intervention. Okay, fine, it works too.
And wow, look, in the CCTV of Gertrude’s death there’s no one, except for Gertrude and Elias who finds her body. There’s absolutely no way this man found the secret passages and used them to kill Gertrude, nope nope, he hasn’t written “SUSPICIOUS” all over his face, I definitely trust him.
And if it wasn’t Elias to kill her, it was Big Brother then. Or the umpteenth member of the Lukas family, who was hidden in the tunnels for killing reasons and killing reasons only.
At least the CCTV convinced Jon he hasn’t been fair with his team and that they’re all innocents. Let’s hope he will stop being a creepy paranoid stalker with them and start being a creepy paranoid stalker with Elias. I just don't trust you, Elias.
_______________________________
In conclusion
So these supernatural shits aren’t simple supernatural shits: they are “holy beings or concepts” worshipped by secret cults. Do I think the Lukas family is one of those secret circles? Yes, that’s what I think. Do I think they worship Big Brother? Yes, that’s what I think too.
But seriously, love the religious undertones. As someone who grew up surrounded by Christianity, seeing religion in a work gets my interest. I just wonder how the religious theme will be developed here.
Speaking of the characters: Jon is still in Paranoia Land, but at least he’s admitting his paranoid thoughts. And even if he acted like an insane creep, his team is still trying to help him. Sure, they’re doing it in their own way, but at least they’re trying. And Martin is quickly rising to the status of saint, because I would’ve been far less nice if my boss stalked me like Jon did with him.
So we're past the first fourth of the series and I have more questions than ever: how many supernatural shits are in this world? What really are they? Will we learn about their origin too? What actually happened to Gertrude? What is Not!Shasha planning? How many more members of the Spider Gang will come? Will Simon Fairchild wake up and choose violence again? And how many more connections will I find in the next ten chapters?
See you soon next week!
>> Next post
(How about a coffee? ☕)

A snippet
Max, Rafael, Mina and Tavvy were running in between the tables, giggling and laughing, Jem was watching the children closely.
Magnus and Alec were sitting down, at the opposite side of the hall, kids were running around, music was playing.
"Im hungry." Simon sat down, which was followed by Isabelle and Clary, Jace was talking with Kit.
"Dinner will be served at 8. We got 30 minutes."
"Who are they, I saw them come in the limo, and they have the men in black around them?" Isabelle nudged Magnus's arm, pointing at a woman who was talking to Ithuriel, but near her were two men, in black suits, that were standing and looking at the crowd of people.
"That is Queen El, my aunt, she didnt want the guards, but they advised her that it was for the best."
"Dont point Izzy." Alec warned, as his sister stuck her tounge out at him, which he rolled his eyes in response.
It was Stanley Morningstar and Johnathan Fairchild's wedding. Seven months after Magnus and Alec's wedding. Magnus was superised that Johnathan took his idea for the ribbons which was decorating the ceiling.
"Oh no." Alec watched as Max quickly walked over to them, holding a plate, which appeared to be half eaten cake.
Before he got to them, Alec picked him up, and sat him on his lap.
"Want some cake?" Max took a fistful and gave it to Alec, who placed it in a tissue.
"Max where did you get the cake from?" Clary took the plate away from him, as Max frowned.
"The kitchen, Uncle Kit and Ty, gave it to us." Max said, Magnus wiped Max's hands.
"No more cake, dinenr will be ready, go and get Raf and find grandma okay? Good boy.!" Alec kissed his son's forehead, who nodded and ran to where the kids were, Alec watched, as Jem lead the kids to Maryse, and Jocelynn.
"It was delicious." Simon said, wolfing the last piece down.
"I was hungry you know." Isabelle playfully slapped his arm.
"Im gonna check on Jace and Sebastian." Clary said, going back into the crowd.
"Your dad is coming" Alec nudged his husband arm, as Asmodeus and Lucifer walked towards them.
"Congratuations on your son's wedding sir." Alec shook Lucifer's hand, who smiled at him.
"Well ill leave you to it, dinner is being served now." Lucifer stated, before leaving the group.
"What do you want?" Magnus eyed his dad, who sat down.
"Nothing, but I need you home as they want an after party, well that is what Stanley wants its a family tradition, you and Alec. No kids."
"But -"
"No buts. I am not serving guests on my own in my own house."
"You wanted to hos-" Alec stopped talking as his father in law shot him a glare.
"GRANDDAD!" Rafael ran up and jumped, Asmoeus catching him.
"Lets get some food. Are you hungry, im hungry?" Asmodeus picked up Rafael and took him to the table where they were sitting.
"Well that sucks." Magnus muttered.
"Should we help? We can come over?" Simon helped, as starter food was placed on the table.
"Its a family thing, so its just the adults getting together."
"Did you do it when you guys got married?" Isabelle said, taking a bite out of the chicken leg.
"I did, stayed there until 1 am, and dad kicked everyone out. Came back to Alec around four in the morning."
"You were so tired, you forgor your keys and you were crying." Alec remembered that night, thinking he was being burglared, and remebering sobs and opening the door.
Magnus was fast asleep and didnt wake up later in the afternoon.
aweeee this is sweet!!!!

Listening to TMA for the first time (Part V)
Part I II III IV
47-67
#47 The New Door: ok so at the beginning I though it might just be a statement that John could sympathize with, not That. I’ll be honest I had forgotten Sasha’s statement and about that strange man, but of course weird jagged creature. But then this gets very interesting, so Michael can follow you around just cause and trap you in his domain(??). He let Helen go for a while, I’m guessing so that John could have the info and feel weird, but eventually claimed her. And then this guy-thing just shows up at the office. (also how can no one hear John scream at this guy and be attacked?). Anyways he left us quite a lot to think about. This is very big (already understood). There is a war coming (omninous). He specifically doesn’t want the Institute to disappear because it would be unbalanced, but how?? Is it John? Is it something they have or can do? Also are Not-Sasha and Michael similar? I think I have even more questions now, yay.
#48 Lost in The Crowd: weird but vague. Indeed the description of the mystery guy reminds me of Gerard. It is interesting that John did catch the warning for Sasha but I don’t think he will really catch on quickly about Not-Sasha. In any case if there is distrust growing it’s just gonna be bad for everyone at the Institute
#49 The Butcher's Window: we’ll good to know you can rely on Jared for weird bone and meat imagery, I had kinda written him off as irrelevant but apparently not. And I didn’t think we would be that interested in Elias but now I’m wondering what’s next for him. He does seem like someone difficult to track down.
#50 Foundations: on one hand more of weird buildings, small spaces and weird creatures. On the other hands more names to look out for and I barely remember some anyway. Also could John sound more horrified of being thought to be sleeping with the cop?
#51 High Pressure: love the ocean, but of course I can’t forget that even under normal circumstances you can’t trust it. More holes and weird spaces. And yes the name Simon Fairchild did ring a bell but couldn’t remember the details, again I’m sure it’ll pop up again. And I don’t know what Not-Sasha's deal with the wax museum but I don’t like it.
#52 Exceptional Risk: finally we’re back with this guy from A Fathers Love, I can still recall the episode quite well, I liked it. And the name is of the guy that had called him if I recall correctly so that’s kinda interesting, now we know what he looks like. And love the little fumble between John and the cop (I’ll learn her name eventually). I also don’t trust that remark about the boyfriend but nothing to do about it know.
#53 Crusader: I mean the very fact that every statement is from The Magnus Institute LONDON I thought it was obvious there’s more out there. But I guess he means other institutions that document the unusual. Still pretty interesting and as I recall Gertrude’s body was very decomposed at the very least. Poor Martin he just worries about John since he knows there's more to that injury, still maybe he is hiding something.
#54 Still Life: Creepy not a fan of glassy eyes but interesting. I loved how the tax man is just like sure that’s weird but let me tell you about tax evasion. In any case apparently those two guys are just in charge of dropping off mysterious packages or something I guess. And I cannot trust Not-Sasha so who know if the basement is actually empty.
#55 Pest Control: I do like that the whole paranormal things really is a whole ecosystem of its own. You have the ghost hunters and Unit 31 and EC-what’s its name and of course the Institute. And even though many blow them off they still know and many will still go to make a statement. Other than that I’m not shocked that we haven’t seen the last of the infestation.
#56 Children of the Night: ok didn’t even remember this one, is the woman the same from the ghost hunters episode? Cause the other option that I like is Jane Prentiss but her condition was a bit more obvious at first glance.
#57 Personal Space: the cooperation of different companies with names that are relevant to the plot does intrigue me. And his dreams sound like those weird spaces that pop up around the Lukas family, the graveyard and sea. So Not-Sasha might be cooperating with someone or just making up something, I doubt John is that discreet in his investigations.
#58 Trail Rations: love me some corrupted religious imagery. I have the same question as John, how did that letter make its way to the Archive? Did someone think of Joan Magnus back them?
#59 Recluse: interesting episode, I also don’t want to know more about the spiders but it seems I don’t have a choice. And now we have another encounters from different stories. So we know the table should have a box that maybe has an apple? At the very least it does have something missing. The other apple I remember is the one from Anatomy class that had teeth in it but maybe this one is different.
#60 Observer Effect: interesting, I don’t think a mirror has ever been mentioned before. And it could be the creature related to the serial killer guy maybe. Also poor John, to be fair it’s nice that he can calm down a bit. On the other hand Not-Sasha is not trustworthy.
#61 Hard Shoulder: More pieces falling together, I thought the van might be something else but no apparently we see yet again this weird postal service and the two big guys. And the coffin!!! Didn’t really expect that since you usually hear moaning from it so the stairs are a bit weird, a lot weird. I shouldn’t be surprised that they suspected John, I’m sure he looks sketchy. And nice to know the vampires actually exist.
#62 First Edition: wow, not sure what to make of much of it but still pretty cool. It kinda looks like the same had been done to her in her death. And that indeed her connection to the Magnus Institute is much more important and close than I thought. And what is in the sheet of skin that was given to Gertrude? Is that how she died? Unlikely but not impossible. What’s in the laptop? Is the key to the coffin or something else?
#63 The End of the Tunnel: I’ll be honest, I was kinda falling asleep so can’t really pick out interesting details. But hey at least we have Ghost Girl! What did she encounter? Why does she need access to the Archive? Also does no one knock or care about John’s privacy when at work? Sure he’s the main archivist but still, people just show up to this room.
#64 Burial Rites: not much of note in this one, other than we once again play emphasis on the eyes and death I guess.
#65 Binary: I hated that one, good shit. Indeed I sometimes am afraid of what is beyond our comprehension. What if we regret it? Even now a days with social media you sometimes wonder if we haven’t doomed ourselves somehow. As much as I love the internet it’s such a new and terrifying thing, we haven’t really learned to use yet we keep reaching out for more and more. Anyway there’s the answer as to why they can’t just quit even if they’re in danger. I’m guessing for some reason the institute is gonna keep them until they’ve fulfilled their purpose, whichever that may be.
#66 Held in Customs: claustrophobic indeed. Ok apparently this Salesa (that guy) and Lukas feel just ok playing with people and seeing what will happen I guess. Anyway I’ll have to remember that name then. And the purchases that Gertrude made are interesting. She knows that where she goes she need a lot of light that won’t fail and things to kill either insects or people(?? Maybe vampires or just other creatures??). And yeah maybe the disorganization is a way of protecting something or maybe a code, a little trail that you follow in a certain way?? Who knows
#67 Burning Desire: I’d say I’m glad that Agnes at least got a bit of a "normal" experience like dating someone, but I’m still not sure if I should be more weary of her given we have tons of questions surrounding her. And still what is up with that left hand, it’s still being mentioned so I’m guessing that’s still an important detail.
Not a ton of new revelations but I’m making faster progress than I thought possible. I’m usually quite slow or put off finishing shows or other podcasts if I get too overwhelmed. Hopefully I’ll finish this before the thrill of discovery wears off.

TMA MAG 57
Simon Fairchild officially the middle manager for the horror of... giant... empty ... spaces? That or isolation maybe? Either way, when the austronaut said Simon Fairchild had his hands in that project I wasn't even really surprised. What caught me way more off guard was the other business with its address in that nothernmost place in Sweden. Is it a fake address created to signal belonging to the.. cult? or is it an actual place that practically consists of one major cult secretly controlling... I genuinely forgot where else these "nothern-most place" guys cropped aside from a Leitner, I think.
Oh well, I'll see.
This one hits home wayyy before any of the actual spooky shit starts because in terms of worst nightmares, "trapped in one room by myself while potentially being watched by a camera for any extended amount of time" is up there. I was getting antsy when this guy just started talking about participating in an isolation experiment. Finding out he was entirely by himself and was not being watched sounds a bit like a relief, except I can assure everyone I would not have made these six months. Damn.
With Jon searching through Not-Sascha's desk, I'm finding myself increasingly at a loss for what, exactly, he's even looking for. He remarks he's found pictures of her with her boyfriend, but again, if he had a better relationship with his coworkers, he could have just asked for those. I assume "They look like stockphotos" is an indication that Jon has started to realize that there is something wrong about Sasha beyond "slightly strange behaviour", but I'm starting to get "unreliable narrator" vibes too. I KNOW something is wrong with Not-Sascha, and yet I'm being judgemental over here about how vague and unhelpful calling her pictures "stockphotos" is. Maybe she just uses the same instagram filter as everyone else currently? Does Jon even know about instagram?
Hey Jon, maybe step beyond your tunnel vision for a second and examine the bloody table Sasha seemed so enraptured with?
I know this is my story bias because I know there's something wrong with the table, but considering Jon's been running out of leads for... since the beginning, really, you'd THINK he'd start pursuining more of them, and different ones too.
#tma#the magnus archives#jonathan sims#tma season 2#tma live reaction#the gertrude murder mystery#ah jon you beautiful fool#ever wonder how different the story of this podcast would be if they'd gotten someone with a modicum of social skills as the archivist?

I know im talking way too much about tma but like i have no where else to put my thoughts so like
Does anyone else think Simon and Peter were like.......friends? Or like as close as they can get?
I mean: Simon references doing favors for Peter and how the vast and the lonely are generally close and he himself is sympathetic to the lonely and we know the Fairchild's and the Lukas' worked together on that space station
So like......they seem to have a good working relationship? Even better than Peter and Elias?? Like guys i think we are overlooking this notion because the idea of these 2 being good friends is OBJECTIVELY hilarious???
Guys PLEASE talk to me about these old men i am loosing it!!!
#tma#the magnus archives#peter lukas#simon fairchild#elias bouchard#the vast#the lonely#GUYS IM SERIOUS I HAVE THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS#its me ya boi
