₍₍ SPEAK NO EViL ₎₎
[ a kylian mbappe series ]
SYNOPSiS ! it's summer break, where, yes, academic freedom ensues, but for stellar, upcoming young football stars, an unmissable opportunity springs. bondy elite summer academy prepares its youth for the professional world, and inevitably, everybody is hungry to succeed. girl or boy. life isn't kind to 18 year old kylian mbappe, and being mute seems to be a limiting factor of his progress. but once he's accepted into the football camp, he's determined to prove that his football speaks for itself. yet, in the midst of fatal determination and apathetic competitiveness, he doesn't expect to grow intrigue for [y/n], a profound player in the camp's feminine unit, whose kindness and exquisite skill awakens a visceral feeling within kylian, showing him someone else that he could love in a world filled with hate.
PAiRiNG ! mute!kylian x fem!reader | fem!reader x oc!boyfriend
GENRE ! angst , romance , drama
CONTENT WARNiNGS ! this series is ANGSTY but ROMANTIC, kylian is selectively mute (so he cannot speak to anyone who he isn't close with), teenage brutality, swearing, insults, bullying, competitiveness, toxic relationships, [y/n]'s boyfriend is questionable, fluffy times, [y/n] is kylian's escape, it's LOVE!, more to be added [warnings will be added before individual chapters when needed]
A/N ! i have planned this series (in my head) for wayyy too long and finally succumbed to my desires, sooo now it's a series 🤩 kylian's characterisation was very interesting to study and dissect, and i've made sure that i have made it as factual and raw as possible, and haven't written anything offensive. however, if i have, please tell me and i will change it immediately. i adore [y/n] and kylian's friendship/relationship (i won't cry i promise) so i really hope you enjoy reading, all of you ❤
side note: if for any reason you cannot find chapters (prbly because i forgot to link it in the masterlist lol), just search/click the tag '#speak no evil.km 🙊' and it should all be there!

(primer anon) Thank youuuu <3 <3 <3 The giant goalie hugs are SO cute 🥹 saved your sources and shall scour them on my next day off! I'd love to hear more on giant Nic hague and the other d-men (saw on cap friendly today that mcnabb and whitecloud have both been knights since season 1!) but you've already gone above and beyond helping me out and i'm sure I can find stuff in the blogs and accounts you linked if you're all worded out <3
Hi!!! sorry this took so long! It's not because it was difficult to do, but because I just had a lot going on today (i slept late and then was out / busy for most of today until now)
So, a couple of players have actually been with VGK since year one that don't get credit for it, some who were drafted by VGK (Nic Hague) and some that weren't ( Keegan Kolesar, Zach Whitecloud).
Keegan Kolesar was drafted by CBJ in 2015, but never played for them & was traded to VGK in june of 2017. He played for the Chicago Wolves (VGK, as I understand it, shared the Wolves as a dev team, since a bunch of VGK-developed guys played for them) and then played for VGK starting in 2020 (he played 1 game in 2019-2020)
Zach Whitecloud was playing for Bemidji State University in 2017-2018 when VGK signed him (he played 1 game for VGK in 2017-2018)
Hague, Kolesar & Whitecloud, despite being with the organization since practically its inception aren't considered "Golden Misfits" like Karlsson, Carrier, Smith, Marchessault, Theodore, & McNabb were (during the cup playoffs last year, Smith was traded over the summer of 2023 to the Penguins) Because they weren't part of the run to the cup final that year in 2018.
Now, that's enough just flat backstory, I think. Let's talk about defensemen. I love ALL of our defensemen.
McNabb is SO quiet? but I love him so much. When people celebrate in OT, most of the guys will go celebrate with the person who scored, but Nabber almost always goes to celebrate with the goalie first. nabber MY BRO. His notes in this video are SO cute. Hip check? Pass to Shea. Nope. SHOTS. I know this isn't much about hockey, but I just think it's really cute that Nabber had these written down. He does SO MANY reverse hipchecks on guys it's lovely to see. And Shea is his going steady d-partner, unless there's a shakeup in the d-core, then they give the baby d-man to Nabber. He's basically a capybara. Even Panda thinks so:
It's Very cute.
During warm ups, they have the lil pyramid of pucks and will carrier knocks them down when he goes out. all except for one, which he stands up on it's side. And then when Brayden comes out next to last (goalies come out last) he knocks it down. It's SUCH a cute lil ritual.
Nic Hague is so tall! His voice is so deep! He seems so Polite! Every guy tries to fight him and for the most part he refuses to engage it is SO funny. He did get kicked out of a game last year in the Dallas Series for giving a sarcastic thumbs up at a dude. He is sooo funny
and hot
he wears??? glasses??
Despite the fact that his face looks like he's never had a thought in his WHOLE LIFE when hes geared up:
He won the OHL Scholastic Player of the year in 2015-2016, the year after Connor McDavid had it on lockdown for 2 years straight.
IDK if anyone has mentioned it to you, but VGK has an emoji line up - everyone has a say in their emoji to an extent, and Haguer's is a giraffe. Well, he's got a giraffe floatie.
he took the stanley cup on it
Now for Zach Whitecloud:
I love him. That's what you have to understand. He's perfect and he's never done a crime in his entire life. His PIMs are a glitch.
He cried when he took a penalty in OT in 2020 and they lost the series to the stars. He cried IN THE BOX. It was his first season.
His defensive partner is Nic Hague. They were roommates in Chicago with the wolves. They were roommates in VGK for a bit (then Dylan Coghlan (now with the Canes) moved in, I think.)
They're SUCH good defensive partners, I LOVE them, but they're also excellent apart.
Zach is colorblind, so he often has very fancifully patterned suits / ties.
he's always holding 2 drinks. Most of the time it's 2 coffees, but this one is a coffee and a water.
An announcer was racist about his name on air, and he got really upset about it but was SO SO gracious about it.
He's from around Manitoba (literally like half the team is, it's bonkers, GMKM, you're obsessed) and he *really really* looked up to Mark Stone. He was really excited to get to play with him.
he decided to who to pick (out of a number of teams) in a bathroom
He's just. I love seeing his face. He's an excellent defenseman, he's a great guy and i love him so so so much.
Zach and Martini have this lil "SUH DUDE" handshake that they do when they win, because they both stand and wait for everyone to get off the ice before they leave, and then they do this cuteass handshake thing where they wiggle their fingers at each other. it's *adorable*
Also i forgot about this Martini mic'd up
And now i'm gonna talk about a random guy you haven't heard about before: Ben Hutton. He's our 7th defensemen who normally is a healthy scratch, but is the 1st call up when someone else is injured. He was the guy in the video where Marty and Petro were affectionately bitching at each other who agreed with Marty.
Everyone loves him. In 2022-2023, not a lot of d-men were hurt, so he didn't get to play a lot, but Bruce said that he had SUCH a good attitude & was SUCH a lovely guy. He stayed and practiced with the guys who were on IR and they joked that "they had to go thru him" to get back to playing hockey again (they were all forwards). Which I think is really really cute.
When Vancouver did a lip sync battle for their gala, he danced to barbie girl. ANd KILLED it
He doesn't really like chocolate "I'm not a big chocolate guy" says he. His birthday is 4/20. Ate like ka whole tub of strawberry lemonade flavored ice cream (he didn't eat lunch). He wasn't sure he was gonna stay in the league, but he trained with deryk engelland (a retired VGK d-man) and improved so much that they gave him a permanent roster spot.
Hutton is another one of those guys who skates to the goalie in OT instead of the guy who scored. It's VERY cute.
agreed, nic hague. that's also how i look at button
I always think it's fun to know which guys stick their tongues out when they're happy?

please tell me about the books you’ve read recently i would love some recommendations 👀🤲
okay!!!! im bored so heres my thoughts on all the books ive read (or finished reading) since the start of summer
all of murder most unladylike 5/5 its a middle grade series (9 books) about two girls in the ninteen thirties who go to boarding school together and solve murder. its so funny and i really like the historical perspective in it too. i read it originally when it was coming out but i decided to look at it again (can't remember the exact reason why but anyway). soooo fun and pretty clever too
monk and robot duology by becky chambers about 4.5-4.75/5 very interesting world building im not sure i fully understood it so im going to reread but i think its speculative fiction about a post technological world but a robot decides to visit and becomes friends with a monk
all of the locked tomb series. twice. 5/5. i feel i do not have to explain this everyone read it Now
priory of the orange tree 5/5 this is my fourth read through i'm currently on my second read of a day of fallen night (the prequel) and !!!! the prose !!! the world building !!! the characters. i kinda hate that very few people like niclays i love niclays he's so funny to me and a complete cunt
all of nevermoor. twice 5/5. its 223 days to the fourth book coming out and in the hiatus ive managed to write like 19% i think of all fic for it on ao3. so yk. i like it a normal amount its like its very fun middle grade series (im going into my junior honours year of uni so my summer reading was v self indulgent lmao) about a girl who is rescued from death at the last minute and has to compete to get into a specific society so she won't get deported and the world building is sooo good and i love the characters sooo much
fun home by alison bechdel 5/5 the way the narrative is presented in this like all the negative space where things arent said but we're supposed to understand its very good
the gilded wolves 3.5/5 i feel like its on me for like. starting this in june 2023 and reading little bits over the year bc i was a bit confused so im gonna try reading this again sometime but it was pretty fun ngl
transgender marxism 4/5 i found the ideas in this interesting but im not sure i understood all of it so im gonna read around the subjects a bit so i get it more
black leopard red wolf by malon james 3.5/5. i kinda lost where the plot was going about halfway through so this is another book on my reread list but the prose is soooo good that it kept me going
honey girl by morgan rogers 4.25/5 this is about an astrophysicist who has a vegas wedding after she goes out right after getting her phd and is kinda lost in what she wants to do so she strikes up a sort of friendship sort of relationship with her wife from the opposite side of the usa and i found it to be a really nice read
wolfsong by tj klune 4/5 this book is kinda long for what it needs to be tbh and i dont really like the omegaverse enough (its not omegaverse but like. omegaverse's third cousin basically like werewolves and stuff) but i enjoyed the writing style
he who drowned the world by shelley parker-chan 5/5 its the sequel to she who became the sun and i love that zhu has such a good time in this book the second the narrative turns to her its almost a buddy comedy. amazing prose love the world building love the themes love the characters. banger. cant wait to see what shelley parker-chan does next
kemosha of the caribbean by alex wheatle 3.25/5 its about this girl who's a slave in port royal during the golden age of piracy and wins her freedom in a duel and joins a pirate ship as a cook so she can get the money to buy her brother's freedom. i liked it but i think im kinda past ya ig
the aeneid by vergil (cecil day lewis translation) 4/5 oh my goddddd oh my god. amazing. poem of all time
kyoshi duology by fc yee 4.5/5 on one hand i liked it more the first time i read it but like its still good its just ive read some really amazing books since but i love kyoshi and rangi so much and i really like the povs from jianzhu zoryu and yun also
the silmarillion by jrrt 3/5 i did not understand. i will read again im sorry tolkien fans
the mcga trilogy by rick riordan 4/5 this book series was my personality from the release of sword of summer to like two years ago??? on one hand i forgot how much i liked certain elements on the other hands certain elements did not. age well. or weren't good to start with. i feel like rr should like. get a better handle on his narrative arcs tbh
the histories by herodotus (tom holland. not spiderman translation) 4/5 this was very weird but very interesting
the two ministry of unladylike activity books currently out 5/5 this is the sequel series to murder mosr unladylike but about one of the main character's little sisters and her friends outwith the story (which is excellent) i like that it balances showing that the lives of the original characters are still ongoing without going full nostalgia bait
the kane chronicles by rick riordan 4.5/5 outside of the walt and anubis thing (too old to date a Thirteen Year Old jesus christ) very good honestly rr's best series in terms of worldbuilding, characterisation and narrative arcs
the annals by tacitus (yardley translation) 3.25/5 v good translation but holy shit completely boring im sorry im a tacitus hater i fear. interesting historical source tho
lives of the caesar by suetonius (edwards translation) 3.75/5 every single roman emperor is in hell
the aeneid (aeneid daily) 4.5/5 see above
daughter of the siren queen by tricia levenseller 3.5/5 this could be good but every single romantic scene was punctuated by me saying aloud that i hoped jakey died. i do not remember her boyfriend's name i just do not care. nothing special tbh
the woman of troy by pat barker 4.75/5 this is the sequel to her book the silence of the girls which is a retelling of the iliad from briseis' perspective. this book is still mostly from her perspective but (i believe) a retelling of the troades (i haven't read the troades in english except in summary and i only translated it for like two weeks as a seventeen year old so i forgor but i think it is) i usually hate classical retellings but i like barker's take on things and i just found out (like rn) that theres a third book coming out so im excited about that
the atlas six by olivie blake 2.5/5 this book was written to have out of context parts quoted on tiktok
dictator by robert harris 5/5 this is the finale to his cicero trilogy told through the perspective of tiro whom i love and admire (he probably invented the ampersand and other stuff we use as short hand. everyone say thank you tiro) very good
the eternal ones by namina forna 3.5/5 i really liked the first book in this series and i think i liked the second one too and i think the worldbuilding is compelling but im not interested in any of the characters especially her boyfriend sorry. i liked britta tho. also again i think im kinda past ya rn so
nevermoor graphic novel part two 5/5 i thought the art was beautiful but the story was kinda rushed and one fairly important scene was left out which i was really looking forward too and also messes up some of the relationships which was a shame (unless it got covered in dialogue but i dont speak french i was literally just there for the pictures)
task force z #11 & #12 4/5 nice
tiger tiger by petra erika nordlund 5/5 everyone go read this now its about a girl who steals her brother's identity and his ship to study sea sponges and meets god who is a tits out nonbinary lesbian along the way and also: sea sponge
the lightning thief by rick riordan 4.5/5 the fact that luke didn't say "western civilisation is a disease" in the tv show is a goddamn travesty. also i have many thoughts about the themes of nostos and kleos between luke and percy
a sky beyond the storm by sabaa tahir 4.5/5 i love the world building so much in this book and i had a really good time with the character development too. i want to reread the series at some point all at once bc i finished boom three in december and i think i forgot some parts lmao
cursed crowns by katherine webber and catherine doyle 2.5/5 this book is stupid. some of the dialogue is funny. like twice
the eagle of the ninth by rosemary sutcliff 3.5/5 if aiglemene in tlt isnt inspired by this in some way (eagles, ninth, leg injury) i will be genuinely surprised. good time
the dawn of yangchen by fc yee 4.25/5 not quite as fun as kyoshi but i found the politics very interesting
whale weekly 4/5 i lost the plot like back in 2022 but the prose is immaculate its so fucking tragic and it was so preventable i love the whole cosmic horror of the whale
amari and the night brothers by bb alston 4.75/5 this has the same vibes as nevermoor but like the main character is looking for her brother and accidentally finds out that shes a magician and also this is a bad thing. kinda cliché but very fun and i had a good time

6, 12, 26, 33, 42 and 47 for the movie ask? <3
6. Favorite movie from the 90's I technically already answered this one with a whole list of films....BUT WHATEVER. I realized I didn't add Toy Story (1995) and Toy Story 2 (1999). I love them both, and they honestly hold up super well for cgi animated films from that decade. The first one is especially kind of wonky, but I never really noticed that as a kid. I think because the story and acting is so well done, and choosing the focus to be toys was so clever for the technological constraints of the time.
12. Are you against book-to-movie adaptions? I wouldn't say I'm "against" it. Some of my favorite films are book-to-movie adaptions. A lot of films transition to the medium really well. Some are even more engaging to me than the book. That being said, I think it is RARE for instances like that to happen. Kind of a shot-in-the-dark. More often then not, when I read a book before and even after watching the film adaption, my first thought is "oh this is a lot better". As a result, I try to account for them as their own thing with individual merits rather than a direct comparison. I DO think that some choices for film adaption are unnecessary, because I cannot fathom how someone could take the book and make it into a film that is actually good and/or better than its original form. I don't think someone should necessarily be stopped from trying. Maybe they will surprise me. It has happened. Not often enough for me to be enthusiastic though.
26. Best experience going to the movies? I've definitely talked about it before, but it would have to be seeing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with my friends in 2019. We were all unashamed haters, and were lucky enough to be in a packed theatre also full of haters. The engagement from the audience was so visceral and fun, we didn't feel any shame laughing/clapping at inappropriate times. When Ray came onscreen for the first time someone yelled "hot!" Apologies for anyone in that theatre actually trying to enjoy the movie, but also it was Rise of Skywalker, that shit was just laughably bad.
33. An overrated movie Barbie (2023). I wasn't exactly over-the-hill excited about it when it was announced. I chalked it up to me just not being that into Barbie dolls as a kid. Then everyone started shouting really obtuse praises and I was a bit curious. When I actually saw it I was just like "that is it? This is what people were calling "sublime feminist cinema"? This is what conservatives all through the United States were getting scared of?" I don't know. No shame to anyone who the film did speak to. I sincerely love that for you. I'm just a bit tired of people using that as an excuse to call ANYTHING they like "nuanced" or "high cinema" without irony. I don't think I would be as bitter as I am towards the movie if people appreciated it as it was: a campy, fun summer flick. Sometimes a film is just that, and that is ok! We don't have to call everything "high cinema" in order for it to be valid and treated seriously.
42. Films you wanted to watch, but never got around to watching? SOOO MANY. My watchlist is so huge. Generally, ANY David Lynch film, ANY Cronenberg film, and ANY John Waters film. I sincerely don't know why I've been putting these off for so long despite being aware of them for so many years and actively WANTING to see them. At this point there isn't a good excuse anymore.
47. Favorite road trip film Thelma & Louise (1991) is so good. I cannot sing it enough praise. Closely followed by A Goofy Movie (1995), genuinely.

can i just say that i’m OBSESSEDDDD with your music taste. like, actually. i remember when you said you were listening to ‘thin air’ by aqualung when you were writing traditional and i love that series so obviously i went and listened to it and when i tell you that literally changed my life????? i listened to that on REPEAT and it was super high on my replay playlist of the year (i use apple music too) and i just saw the tag you did and AHHHHH!!!! YOU’RE JUST LIKE ME LMAOOO!!! BUT there was like one song i didn’t know and im listening to it AND NO SURPRISE!!!! ITS AMAZING!!! I LOVE IT!!!!
anyways all this to say that i love your writing sooo sooo much and i have for well over a year now but i also love the other parts of you that you choose to share on here! please never be shy to share what you’re listening to because i will ALWAYS appreciate it!!🫶🫶🫶🫶
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. This is one of the nicest compliments I've ever gotten 😭💕 I think I have such obscure/weird taste in music (no shade to you if we are TWINS because I love that!). Like definitely am a pop girly but I'm such a gentle music listener. But I'm so shy about sharing my music ideas! My sister says my music is so sad sounding 🙃 (it kind of is but nonetheless.)
Isn't Thin Air so so sweet!? We have One Tree Hill to thank for finding it during my summer binge.
(Was the song you didn't know My Friend's Toyota? I have it on my list to write a story about it in the near future 😉😊)
Thank God for TikTok! It's where I've been getting all my indie music from 😭 Like Thin Air I also get a lot of my music from TV shows. My Shazam is just like 300 songs of me holding my phone up to the speaker during every episode of Grey's Anatomy. I also get the occasional song from one of the trendy aesthetic restaurants I frequent.
I would LOVE to share some of my playlists with you if you're really interested!!! Based on TV binging/season I group a lot of songs together and all my playlists are like Fall 2023, Summer 2021, etc. I'll post some screenshots sometime!!
"but i also love the other parts of you that you choose to share on here!" OKAY JUST RIP MY HEART OUT MA'AM thank you so much you're so so so sweet, thank you for reading and writing me a message 😭💕
xoxo
P.S. If you decide you want to chat again (no pressure at all), I think you should use the 🎶 emoji if you see fit 💕 😊

31. moonage daydream 2022 um so when todd haynes basically said that reagan being in power was david bowies fault in velvet goldmine i get what he was saying when i watched the second half of this. it was so annoying listening to bowie talk about how he was like crazyyyy back then now hes normal (annoying and not in a fun way) boo

16. crip camp: a disability revolution 2020 is like red army 2014 like. informative and interesting documentary ! not able to rank it with fiction films i dont think so dont take its spot too seriously.
15. poison 1991. dont worry about it im just studying todd haynes and this movie was not as good as other movies i watched this month but actually its the best movie ever after velvet goldmine. or not its not in my top 3 todd movies of all time but thats ok it still set up many of the things he talks about in his later films esp the connection between the horror section and safe 1995 :)
14. the secret world of arrietty 2010. i didnt watch this until this year bc it was released just after when i would sit down and watch a new little ghibli movie. i wanted to rewatch totoro more than watch new ones.but it WAS the borrowers sooo fun :)
13. monty python and the holy grail 1975. they made lancelot soooooooo ugly which was like a joke in itself to me because lancelot would never look like that. but umm yeah my dad loves this movie and so many little jokes i thought were just family jokes were actually from this movie hehehe

I guess its the Summer Solstice so here we are again! 6/21/23
Wow I knew I neglected my last pot but here we are back even later than the last one! Like i say everytime it is wild to see how much has changed in my life the past couple of years. Ups down and everything in between I come back to this spot everytime and see the growth I’ve made. All by myself. All for myself. I cant always see it but moments where I read back on the past I am brought right back to those moments and never lose sight of how I felt in the past.
I keep seeing on TikTok that today is a Summer Solstice meaning it is a great opportunity for manifestations so lets try this out why not! I guess I’ll start by giving a quick synopsyis of my life from the past 10 months or however long (wow sorry I abandoned this for that long!!!!)
Lets start with Work. I am still at the same OI job and feel like I have grown sooo much. I cant say im perfect at my job, but I know I have made a shit load of progress that i’m very proud of. I shifted off of working with my mngr which has made the biggest impact on my happiness at the job. I was going from having weekly panic attacks to not even having to review a single email anymore. I am really proud of myself for treading through the mud and getting to the point where I am at now. Now for the manifestation segment. I am going to get a promotion soon. This SUMMER! I FEEL IT. I am such a hard worker and really have gained the experience to move up in the company. I am confident it will happen in the next couple months. I cant wait to come back here and tell you all about it. It will be my first real promotion at a job which is something that I’ve really wanted to achieve since I havent gotten to this point at any of my previous jobs. You got this Case.
Now for relationships. Tricky subject and yep you guessed it D is still around. I have tested a coupe other relationships with E and A and C... but somehow D makes it through the motions of every single season. I do want to touch on E for a sec. I have grown to build an amazing relationship with him, but I havent seen him for a few weeks and I feel like the relationship is starting to fade. Im sick of getting 100% and then a week later not even 1%. I am fully aware it has nothing to do with me and more so his own struggles, but I do need to realize at the end of the day that its ok to want more from someone and he cant give me what I need as much as hes shown me how I can be treated in a healthy way. He’s the boy Ive always dreamt of how someone can treat/care for you, but this story just isnt ours at this point in time. Who knows what the future holds. Now D. Oh boy. As we all know its been a fucking roller coaster. I have felt the highest of highs w him and the lowest of lows. I do hold love for him (but not so sure ive ever been in love... idk what that even is lmao). We’ve gotten to a point where I feel like I have been holding my power for quite some time now. I don’t have the same anxieties as I had for him in the past and i don’t prioritize him over others. We’ve tried not speaking (jan 2023) for a couple weeks and ultimately he just came back and I allowed it. I cant cut him out of it killed me. It’s so fucking hard. I am working on figuring out his place in my life and how we can carry on without hurt, but I feel like I am slowy falling back in the trap/cycle. We had a really nice day together the other weekend and I felt those anxious attachment feelings creeping in... I need to remember the things that have happened and try to prepare for the worst, but is it crazy to say that what if we are meant for each other? The other day I was able to imagine being in a relationship with him and it shocked me how I felt so good the whole day. Idk prob the worst thought ever but.. idk.. why are we magents to each other? Lastly I wanna touch on friendships and new york life. My friends here are still the same (but Karina now lives in Miami) and I love them so much, but I’ve been feeling myself longing for my relationships in LA. There are many weekends where my friends here are out of town and I feel left alone many times. In LA I would have the comfort of my family when friends arent around, but theyre 100s of miles away from me. I really miss them so fucking much it hurts. I think the longer I am away the more and more I realize how special my family is. I especially feel bad being away from my mom. She asks me nearly everytime we talk when I’ll come back and little does she know I’ve been toying with the idea of returning once my lease is up. If not that I think I have 1 year left in me. It still shocks me to say it and feel confident in that, but I really miss my family. Thats truly the only thing pulling me back bc I love this city and who I have become here so damn much. Im not putting too much pressure on the decision as I still have 10 months on my lease, but it is in the back of my mind. I feel like I’ll lead myself to the right choice soon though. So much would change though. I told D the other day about the idea and he said he would be so sad which kinda surprised me. It would be the end for us if I did move back which im not sure is a good or bad thing. Sometimes I tell myself the love of my life is not here and I wont meet them till I move back lol. Im not sure where the future is gonna bring me, but im confident in myself to do what is right for me. Leaving my friends here would also be horrible, but at the end of the day if they are the friendships I believe them to be, we will still be as close as ever and planes exist!! I guess thats kinda it for now. But this is still the start to an amazing summer with so much fun in store I can feel it!!! I have a trip to the shore coming up next weekend and then im going back home for my bday end of july - aug. Later in the summer I am going to portugal with my family!!! and something BIIGGGG is gonna happen in the fam :o Cant write it in words here till it happens. Until then, I love you. Im proud of you. and life is always working out in my favor. <3 Love,
C

I'm addicted to my own love and I miss loving others with it. The way I love other people brings joy to my soul. Something I can never deny is that loving someone brings me sooo much joy to my soul. I'm made to love someone. That is my purpose. A love where when you hug and your bodies touch you feel as if your skeletons intertwine just like daylight shines through a forest in the summer. Soft but beautiful. Your souls connect when you get close. A love that is as rough as the sea's surface and as calm as its bottom. A love that isn't worth dying but worth living for. When my eyes meet yours I'll feel like I'm stargazing during a warm summer night. As I'm touching your body it'll tell me your secrets just as softly as I'm touching it. I step into the unknown with the trust that there'll be love, whether it's my or your love. A love where you inhabit two souls: One is with you and the other one is with your loved one.

This time, OP did say in the tag we could just reblog and answer all the questions, sooo...
1. What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again?
I actually tried many new things! Chapters, POV changes, E-rated scenes... I think they all turned out at least okay, and I would definitely do at least 2 out of 3 again (I'm not committing to more smut, but I'm not ruling it out, lol).
2. How many fics did you work on this year? (They don’t have to be finished or published!)
I guess... 15? There were two I tried writing for the challenge but ended up substituting with other stories because I wasn't sold on them. (One of them is probably getting another try at some point, though.)
3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?
That I can write more than I thought, faster than I thought, and a bit spicier than I thought. 😅
(And also that I have developed a problem with run-on sentences and I really need to do something about it. 🤦)
4. What piece of media inspired you the most?
Well, if this means what I wrote about, obviously Tiger & Bunny. But if it means additional/external inspiration, then I think it's a song: Two, by Sleeping At Last, which unlocked the mood for the whole central section of Intertidal, and one of its main themes.
5. What fandom(s) did you write for this year?
Only Tiger & Bunny.
6. What ship(s) captured your heart?
It's still FireSky all the time, all the way. ❤️💜
7. What character(s) captured your heart?
Nathan and Keith already had it and held it even closer; Kotetsu, Barnaby, Antonio and Ivan also had a couple of moments each in which I really wanted to hold them. 🥺
8. Did you write for a new fandom or ship this year?
Mh. Does making the background Taibani actually visibly romantic count? 🤔
9. What fic meant the most to you to write?
Intertidal was my love song to FireSky as a relationship; Second Song was my love song to Nathan and Keith individually, and I poured a lot of my heart into both of them.
10. What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?
Intertidal had me incredibly excited, but I think I might have been even happier to write Three-Step Turn, because it was a gift. 🥹
11. What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing?
Here, Intertidal definitely wins on its own. I spent a whole half of my summer vacation working on finishing it, and the feeling when I finally posted it was amazing (and not just because I was running a fever, I swear 😅).
12. What fic was the most difficult to write? Did you finish it?
To a Steadfast Heart and Gravity were both pretty difficult; they're angsty, and they have a delicate balance about certain issues, both in the way they're handled inside the story, and in the one I had to choose to present them in my writing. But I finished them!
13. What fic was the easiest to write?
Snowdrift is small and soft, and flowed easily; Three-Step Turn was also relatively smooth sailing, considering how long it is and how long it took me to write it.
14. What were your shortest and longest fics this year?
Snowdrift is 3,050 words and Intertidal is 28,828.
15. Rec a fic you wrote or posted in 2023
OMG. Okay. Okay. *deep breath*
Intertidal (28,828 words, rated E): Nathan and Keith have an accident that leaves them unable to use their powers, and they don't know when, or even if, they'll be able to be heroes again. Nathan's choice of coping mechanism is to take Keith (and his dogs) on a vacation to a secluded tropical beach.
This fic has so many things I love in it: deep emotions, fierce protectiveness, soft familiarity, (half-)naked beach shenanigans, meaningful dream sequences, moonlit flying lessons, and an exploration of how you need to recognize your own worth, along with that of the person you love, in order to allow for a true, full connection with them. 💞💞
16. What were you go-to writing songs?
This is where I share the Playlist for my 2023 Year of the OTP challenge again 😊💚
17. What were your go-to writing snacks?
Tea, Earl Grey, hot (with a dash of lemon juice and brown sugar).
18. What was the hardest fic to title?
Mh. An Honest Mistake gave me trouble, and is probably still the title I'm the least satisfied with.
19. Share your favorite opening line
Looking at them all together now, I think it's the one from Unscripted:
The whole thing starts, appropriately enough, with a wish.
20. Share your favorite ending line
There was some competition, but in the end (ha!) it's probably the one from An Honest Mistake:
John and Johnjohn let out two loud, celebratory barks; a flock of birds, startled, takes off from a nearby tree, and the mad flutter of their wings resonates under Keith's ribs, echoed by his heart as it thrums with perfect, feather-light joy.
21. Share your favorite piece of dialogue
I'm really fond of this line from Second Song:
"I remember loving you in both of my yesterdays."
22. Share an excerpt from your favorite scene
Mh. I think my favorite scene is the one on the hill in Intertidal, so...
"It's probably because I don't make air. I just move it." Keith thumbed his chin pensively, looking for the right words. "It's like... The floating part is the base of it, the canvas where all the colors go. You can paint without the canvas, but it's not as intuitive, so that's the first thing you end up reaching for." Nathan found herself smiling softly down at him. "Like you were made to fly, and the fighting is just an afterthought." Keith frowned, stepping closer until he was looking up at her with his head tilted back, like he had to do when she was in her highest heels. "Do you think you were made to fight?" he asked, serious and sad-eyed. She gave a small shrug, careful to remain nonchalant. "Fire is pretty destructive, as far as powers go." The tiny movement of her shoulders had somehow traveled down her whole body; she felt the ground slip away from under her soles, and wobbled slightly in mid-air, trying to compensate. Keith's hands wrapped around hers, tugging her gently back down to earth. "I don't see it that way," he said quietly, but when she gave him a questioning look, he didn't elaborate.
23. Share the final version of a sentence or paragraph you struggled with. What about it was challenging? Are you happy with how it turned out?
Ooo, boy. Let's pick this one, out of many (from Intertidal):
Because it was unnecessary; because Nathan didn't really bother to cover up the way other women would, because her body didn't have to play by those rules, and she had learned to find relish in that, instead of regret.
I'm still not 100% satisfied with that "other women", but finding a way to express this concept (of her not dressing or acting like she has a typically feminine body, essentially) somewhat elegantly and respectfully, from inside Nathan's own head, when she refers to herself as a woman, but is not just simply that, and has a history of dysphoria, was not very easy.
24. What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story?
It was Keith essentially asking for his own chapter, and then slapping me (politely, of course) in the face with the true theme of the story in the middle of it in Gravity. And it did change the story quite a bit; not only did it make it twice as long, but it also made me decide to add the E-rated scene I had initially been adamant about not putting in there.
25. What did you use to write? (e.g. writing programs, paper & pen, etc.)
Google docs, mostly on my laptop, sometimes on my phone.
26. If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year?
Probably finishing and posting Intertidal.
27. Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic?
I think I got myself pizza once or twice?
28. How did you recharge between fics?
By re-reading my previous fics and the comments I got on them, playing Pokémon, and sleeping.
29. If this were an awards show, who would you thank?
@nicoroni, first and foremost: I honestly do not know if I would have been able to keep writing so much without their amazing, tireless support. 💙💙💙💙💙💙
And then literally everyone else who ever let me know they had read and liked my fics, especially with comments. I will never stop being grateful. 💖💖💖💖💖💖
30. What’s something that you want to write in 2024?
I have at least 3 AU (or AU-adjacent) ideas I really want to try writing; one of them is a big project I've been thinking about since last spring, and which I'm incredibly excited about... but I have no idea how long it might take, or if I'll even be able to actually put it together in a way that's even close to how I envision it. So... wish me luck, I guess? 🤞💕

oh FUCK jessie ware lyrics videos are already UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay my quick reviews of pre-release singles: pearls > free yourself > begin again but they’re all FLAWLESS tracks
OKAY THOUGHTS OF THE ALBUM IN ORDER:
that! feels good!: the FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNK. HER SULTRY VOICE???????????????????? YES IF YOU’RE GONAN DO IT WELL, DO IT WELL! hONESTLY this track really highlights my gripe with a lot of current pop/dance music. samples and interpolation or just heavily relying on a nostalgic sound can be fucking INCREDIBLE if you put your pussy into it. like reviving old sounds nad songs is GREAT!! but you hav eto OWN IT AND JESSIE IS OWNING HTIS SHE IS DOING IT WELL. OH THE HORNS ARE HERE?????????? YESSSSSSSSSS MS WARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay free youself and pearls are here, i’ve alreayd gushed about them on this blog
hello love: time has turned its back on us is a line that huuuurts. i’m not big into slower songs but this has juuust enough momentum to keep me engaged and it’s got me got me got me invested and ready to wail along. oooh the horn throughline, is this gonna be a mainstay across the labum? into it. god i nEED to see this live. GOOSEBUMPS!!!!!!!!
also pause to say jessie mentioned wanting to collab with beyonce and just listneing to this much of the labum... they need to do a joint PROJECT. not jus ta song... a fucking album
beautiful people: ooh LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ARE EVERYWHERE!!! this album is leaning heavyyyy into its disco-inspiration and i’m here for it. the slick production of 2023 could end up feeling kinda sterile but instead its slick like sweat on the dance floor. this song has ths sort of urgency of like being drunk at the club and wanting to tak ea break but you literally just can’t stay off the dance floor like you gotta get back UP!
freak me now:
freak me now is gonna be a mainstay of my work out playlist like... so simple and yet so FUCKING EFFECTIVE. PUT THAT ASS ON THE FLOOR. god the way she sings don’t cool me doWN is fuckin me uppppppppp
shake the bottle: camp (complementary) intro. i think tracks off what’s your pleasure did this type of song a bit better than this track did but i’m NOT mad at this track. the oooh ah! bits are addictive, i love a lil ad lib thing. i think this album needs to... shake up the sound a bit more, beacus ei think it get sa bit loss in the repetition, but like if THIS is the weakest rtrack on the album, this rEMAINS a top tier album
lightning: WHY IS THERE NO LYRICS VIDEO??? I WILL RETURN WHEN ITS AVAILABLE TO SHARE MY HTOUGHTS
these lips: MOANED AGAIN. this song is pussy licking good. the singing is so pretty and then the lyrics are just like HELLOOOOO WE FUCKIN
anyways my final thoughts:
this is SUCH a conceptually cohesive album, sometimes to its detriment (I know it’s going to take a while for me to tell some of the songs apart). i think what’s your pleasure set the bar SOOO high with how it was both cohesive AND extremely varied, with extremely high highs and no lows. buuuuuuuuut... god? this albums only weak spot is just... not being as good as the previous album
i hope it sparks a true blue disco revival. i hope jessie puts out some incredible remixes.
this album is teh song of the summer
