I don’t know how to fucking read. I can’t read anything and have to be guided and introduced slowly because anything foreign (like unfamiliar cadence/words) is disorienting and unbearable, it overstimulates me to the point of meltdowns. This has made learning impossible, it gave up years ago on trying to look up books or doing research on things even thou it really wanted to. It fucking sucks man. I want to read philosophy. I want to read about religions and alchemy and the occult. There’s so much I can’t do alone and need guidance for. I don’t want to be disabled in this way but I am. I am not fucking around when I say I want support- friends/community, and partners willing and able to help me in this way. Nobody has ever helped me with my needs so I know Nothing. I can’t cook an egg. I can’t do dishes. I can learn but I need assistance. Some things like the ones I just mentioned— I can do them if I’m guided the first however many times, and once the process feels familiar I can do it alone, you’ll never have to help again. Other things I need assistance for longer, or I’ll always need help with. Lol I hate my life so much, I love the idea of independence , I love the feeling of freedom, but I’ve never had it. It’s possible but I’ve never had the help I need to achieve that, in any form. At all, ever. I’m so tired, because I hate this. I hate the total neglect I’ve suffered, and I don’t know what to do but I, lol I don’t want to live this way anymore, I can’t.
I am not kidding when I say I want to be adopted, but I don’t like depending on one person fully, i don’t like a life like that, and I don’t want to burden anyone..I like the idea of living with a partner or something, or even next to a partner, but also having some support network where I have many people I can ask for help,. I like learning and I like being independent , I just, need assistance.
#playlamb#x#think this sounds worse than it is#it’s not so hard to learn. is the thing. like it doesn’t NEED so much#it’s not so difficult..honestly it’s just..direct instructions by person standing next to it. but it’s never had that.#so it doesn’t do anything#and it HATES so much to like..not have autonomy in this way#it’s not that it can’t learn it’s just never been taught the way it needs#its guardian has never tried to teach it in ANY way#and I hate that. I hate it. I want independence. when I was 7 I used to fantasize about living alone.#I love being responsible for my own things having my OWN things#fuck the past year is first time it’s even had it’s own stuff in its own room#it was only in the past few years that it’s guardian learned to stop fucking cleaning moving and touching it’s things#having a room..having its own tv in its room for the first time in its life#all happened within the last year.#and that’s the most autonomy and independent I’ve ever felt.

Darry Curtis hc because this day is shit and he's my comfort character
-Does that thing where he kind of dances/shimmies to music unconsciously. Steve made fun of him for it once, and ever since Darry’s tried to tone it down, but never really succeeds. (Steve never bugged him about it again because Sodapop got so mad at him for it)
-Doesn’t laugh often but when he does it’s the kind of laugh that’s completely contagious. Surprisingly Ponyboy’s sarcasm and Johnny’s dry quips end up making him laugh more than any of the rest of the gang’s bawdy or situational humour
-Makes the best scalloped potatoes known to man. Both Soda and Ponyboy practically beg him to make them for their birthdays or special occasions
-Ponyboy went with him to the gym once after windrixville when they were trying to find an activity to bond over and it ended with Ponyboy attempting to keep up with him and Darry having to practically carry him to the car. They decided Darry would teach Pony to drive as a bonding activity instead
-Was up for a promotion to foreman at his job that would have had a decent pay raise and didn’t tell Soda or Ponyboy about it. He made it to the final round of interviews but ultimately didn’t get it and was SUPER crushed. (Same Darry, same)
-His eye twitches when he’s pissed off but trying not to show it
-Sometimes when Ponyboy is out with friends or goes to bed early, Darry and Soda will have a mini conference where they discuss whether they think he’s doing ok because Darry is terrified of messing Pony up and needs the reassurance he’s doing a good job as guardian
-Taught Pony to shave and it was actually a really emotional time for him because their dad had taught both him and Soda how but wasn’t there to teach Ponyboy. It hurt even more because Ponyboy was so excited about the fact he finally HAD enough facial hair to need to shave and Darry was kind of punched in the chest remembering that Ponyboy is only fourteen, and that he’d had so much less time with their parents than he himself had.
-Doesn’t talk about the gang or his brothers at work. Not because he’s ashamed of being greasy or anything (a lot of guys on his work crew are east side guys) but because work is his only escape from being a leader/grown up and having to take care of everyone. In fact, he’s one of the youngest full time guys on the crew, and because of that he gets a lot of ‘shut up and listen to your elders’ kind of jokes from the guys in their thirties and forties, which he finds ironically funny on good days, and gets lowkey pissed off about on bad ones
-Has skipped meals when money is tight so that his brothers have enough food
-Didn’t regret fighting Paul at the rumble even though they’d been good friends in high school, because after the Curtis parents died Paul told him to let Pony and Soda go into care and to look out for himself and not ‘kids who aren’t your problem Darry’ and Darry never forgave him for it
-The gang and his brothers think he doesn’t have time for girls, and he doesn’t, not really, but he goes to the same diner during his lunch break each day to flirt with one of the waitresses there- a girl he went to high school with who was also meant for bigger things but got stuck in Tulsa just like him. (listen I’m multiship trash who also has a soft spot for tarry but this idea lives rent free in my head ok)
-His way of dealing with issues when he’s unsure is to just ask himself what his dad would do and if he doesn’t know what his dad would do he panics
-Is TERRIFIED of the dentist and so its the only thing he’s kind of lax about with Pony and Soda because he refuses to be a hypocrite and not go when he makes them go, but also…he’s terrified

The Turks - Context Clues (The Kids Are Alright)
@accala posted an excellent inquisitive post about the Turks here and their motivations and to add some The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story book context, imma leave this here. Couldn't find the quote I was looking for, but here's some things I found interesting. NOTE: I feel like Advent Children did the Turks a little dirty, but I really loved the banter as a kid. This book has some of the same campy shortcomings, but take it or leave it, here's what I found.
1.) The Healen Lodge from Advent Children was an R&R facility for Shinra, universally accepted as the worst one by employees. The Turks/Rufus chose it for its tactical advantages, but it also shows how far back on their heels they were. "The Shinra empire had ruled most of the world up until two short years ago, and it didn't sit right with Elena that the company president had to live in such a desolate place. Yes, medical treatment was available, security was way better away from the city, and the commute was only two hours by car; the staff could have had it much worse." - pg. 14
2.) The abandoned rec hall was being used by Shinra as a lab to convert SOLDIER stimulants into geostigma treatments. The project was Elena's idea, with the resulting medication being donated free of charge to city medical professionals and the WRO. (pp. 16-17)
3.) Reno & Rude were sent into the city to retrieve a stolen item from a teenager (read the book for details I'm too lazy to go into it), and when he started crying and shaking, Reno and Rude switched to a new script. "Aw, look. The kid's really scared." The redhead sounded sympathetic now. "That's what we came to do," the bald one pointed out. And: "Now, we put on our best tough-guys acts on the way over, so we can't just leave without roughing anyone up," said the redhead. "Our job is to teach a lesson to anyone who tries to mess with us." I was still scrambling for an explanation to give them. "Y-you mean, kill me?" was what came out instead. My voice even cracked for good measure. "That's one way to teach a lesson. But we're trying to strike a balance for Shinra, here. We want everyone to love us and maybe be a little bit scared. Killing you would have the opposite effect." (pg. 23) Reno opted to punch the kid in the face, then tell him to keep his chin up, so...balance? Sure. Shinra is, at this point, technically trying to figure out their PR while simultaneously leaning on old habits. Also, the kid calls Reno and Rude a knife and a fork and I thought that was funny.
4.) Reno is described as someone who looked like he 'turned delinquent as a teenager and never grew out of it, like those kids in the Sector Eight warehouses who I still hated and admired in equal measure.' (pg. 23)
5.) Elena roughs up one of the protagonists, but reins herself in when context is presented: She'd paid a visit intending to break Fabio's dominant arm, but when she saw him fight back to protect the child, she changed her plan. Her objective was to punish a thief, not deprive a child with geostigma of his only guardian. (pg. 47)
6.) Reno calls a doctor for the guy he roughed up. Kyrie nodded. "I figured, these guys must have phones, so I asked them to call Dr. Drake. 'Evan's in a bad way 'cause you guys beat him up,' I told them. And guess what? They said they don't know any Evan. So I lost it and said, 'Yeah, 'cause Evan's the one you whaled on when you mixed him up with Fabio. You owe him..... So then the redhead--his name's Reno--he called a doctor. Not Dr. Drake, he said, but a good one..." (pg. 55)
7.) Evan (the protagonist) is trying to work out who would be the easiest Turk to try to forge an alliance with and we get a glimpse of how the Turks are perceived by outsiders (Tseng is an unknown entity to Evan at this time): The most dangerous one was probably the lady Turk who went after Fabio. A close second would be the slab of muscle out there, Rude. Maybe the redhead Reno was more on our level. I thought back to my first impression of him--the grown-up teenage delinquent. Guys like that generally looked out for their own. A sense of solidarity. There had to be an angle I could work. (pg. 57)
8.) There's a whole scene where Evan and Kyrie try to ambush Rude. They choke him, break a chair over him, kick, scratch, the whole shebang and he just brushes himself off and manhandles them to a car (which made me laugh).
9.) Reno and Rude take the protagonists towards Healen in a truck and there's a few moments I found interesting. "So anyway..." Reno was looking at me in the rearview mirror. "Sorry about the shiner, dude. We totally did think you were Fabio. But y'know, I'm impressed you stayed mum and protected your buddy," Reno went on. "Even if you were about to piss your pants." (lol) Then, "Some of us have been slower to to adapt to the new way of doing things," Reno continued. "How many Turks are left?" asked Kyrie. "Can't tell you. That's Shinra's most closely guarded secret." "It's just you three, isn't it?" "Not telling." "But I'm right." "Yeah, you keep thinking that." (pg.63) Rude sleeps through the majority of the ride despite Reno trying to keep him awake. They talk quite a bit about Aerith, because Kyrie and Reno both knew her. Reno warns them not to get mixed up with Shinra's science department.
10.) Evan gets introduced to Rufus for the first time after believing the former president has been dead for two years and Tseng finally exists in this book for two seconds. "He's alive...?" Evan was still speaking to Reno. "I am. The decoy who took my place is not," Rufus replied. "You're a candidate for the position--and from what I can see, you'll do." Evan's jaw dropped, and he stared agape at Reno, then Rufus, then Tseng. Tseng looked down at the ground, trying to hide his laughter. Evan's description of Tseng: He looked like a Turk, too. The very definition of one, in fact. Reno and Rude both showed an awkward humanity--well, sporadically in the latter's case--but this guy was pure ice.
11.) An ill-conceived escape attempt by Evan and crew sees Rufus temporarily kidnapped, as Tseng and Elena are investigating an explosion. Reno and Rude try to stop it, but are ordered back. "Reno, stay back!" Reno obediently halted. I had expected to see fury in his eyes, but all I say was sorrow. Surprisingly, I felt a pang in my chest, too. But there was no other way. I pulled Kyrie's knife from my pocket and opened it--a sad, flimsy little blade, but it could still slice open a throat. "Hey, don't be stupid." I ignored Reno and held the knife to Rufus Shinra's neck. Then, "Reno, take Rude and check on the lab." Suddenly Rufus was giving orders. "Tell Tseng not to get involved here." "Wait, what? Boss, are you sure?!" "Don't worry. I'm as interested in staying alive as you are." Reno reluctantly descended the stairs, glancing over his shoulder almost every step. (pg. 77)
12.) Reno and Rude talk about family and have a lil tiff. "If I found out about a brother I'd never seen, I'd make way more of an effort than those two," Reno insisted. "That right?" Rude said. My colleagues are all I need. "You're not much into family, eh, Rude?" "I'm a Turk," Rude said flatly. "Coolheaded and cold-blooded." He turned and headed for the truck. "Hey, Rude. You pissed at me?" Reno called, an unabashed whine. "C'mon, man. You can't cold-zone me now. Tseng and Elena aren't answering my calls, and the boss just tells me to finish the monument. I know they're starting something awesome without us. We're outcasts! Me and you, you and me. If we don't stick together, then what?" Rude looked back. "Tseng isn't answering calls?" (pg. 94) Reno goes off several times throughout this book about how he'd act if he got the chance to meet family, which makes me wonder about him. "So how'd it feel, meeting your brother?" "I don't think it's sunk in yet." "Well, it's a process, I guess," said Reno. "But you gotta visit once in a while, you know? Then you'll get to figure each other out. Break the ice." (pg. 97)
13.) Reno and Rude are actually partially responsible for the monument in the city. This lil bit kinda gives weight to how long they've been in Shinra. Evan was one of those types who wasn't quite grounded in reality but was full of bravado. A show-off. A scared kid determined to buck people's expectations by pretending he had no fear. And if he kept it up, he was gonna do something stupid enough to get himself killed. Both Reno and Rude had known too many kids like that, from rookie Turks to infantrymen to SOLDIER operatives wet behind the ears from mako infusion tanks.
14.) Reno & Rude get amused by Kyrie treating them like they're not scary. The concern over redemption makes an appearance. "Now what?" Rude stepped closer from his vantage point. Apparently, he'd been watching the whole time. He was pretending he didn't care, but inwardly, Reno was convinced, Rude was intrigued by every act of the farce. Which only made the whole thing funnier. "She said she's hungry," said Reno. "So she's gonna grab something to eat." "It's like she's never heard of the Turks. It's almost refreshing," Rude remarked. So this is what happens when Shinra wins hearts and minds. Reno chuckled again but then remembered that the girl was still afraid of them. He'd seen the goosebumps on her arms. Her toothless threats were her way of gauging the danger he and Rude presented. Evan might trust them, but not Kyrie. Despite what Rude said, she knew what they were and what they were capable of. "You know," said Rude. "She reminds me of Aerith." "Yeah, I was thinkin' that too." Maybe helping them out will redeem us, at least a little bit, he thought. A guy can hope. (pg. 106)
15.) Shinra's resources are thin...and that chopper that ate it in AC was one of the last ones left (cue gross sobbing because in the words of a certain Puppy, Shinra makes good stuff). No one knew exactly how many helicopters the Shinra Company used to have. Within a half a year of Meteorfall, many of them had been looted. Accidents, mechanicals, and other circumstances had taken out others, and now Rufus Shinra and the Turks were left with only three. But even with so few, it was a constant battle to keep them in working order. Also, Rude has mechanical experience and is the one on repairs.
16.) A civilian points out the flaws in Reno's hopes for the future of the Turks. "Well, to be honest, maybe my opinion of you guys is changin'." Doyle looked at Reno again with a level stare. "You're up to better things." Reno couldn't help averting his eyes. Unless it came from a fellow Turk, approval tended to make him uncomfortable. "The monument and the medicine are only one step, you know. Just wait. It might take a while, but Shinra's gonna get off the ground again. Rise again, you hear?" That general idea had been floating around in his head for some time. This was the first time he'd said it aloud. "How?" Doyle scowled, his thick eyebrows lowering. Reno cursed himself for the thoughtless comment. "Can't tell you." "Yeah, I figured. But no one is going to let a violent regime lord it over them again. Not anymore. You tell your president that."
17.) Tseng and Elena bring up the notion of inviting old Turks back into the fold. "For any one person, finding it (Jenova's head) may well seem like a futile task. But there is still a nonzero chance. Either way, staying in contact with our agents and meeting regularly are essential to maintaining organizational cohesion." " But how many...?" Elena glanced around and spoke in a stage whisper. "How many former Turks can we expect to help us?" In his mind, Tseng saw the faces of the old Turks, his former subordinates. Of those, he had made contact with-- They get interrupted and Elena rushes off to investigate something. Tseng watched his operative go with a wry smile. Below the hem of her sundress, old scars marked her legs. Once you joined the Turks, you were in for life. Even those who tried to get out and build new lives could be summoned back with a single phone call. Maybe it was a cruel call to make, Tseng thought. and he sighed.
18.) Reno & Rude defy a direct order from Tseng. "Dumbass," Reno muttered. "What are you waiting for? Engage!" Tseng's command rang from the speakers. "Evan's down there," Rude answered in Reno's stead. "He's already done for," said Tseng. "Fire." "No can do," said Reno. "Reno." Tseng made his name a sharp rebuke. "He's our friend." "Fine. Let me briefly explain--" Tseng's voice abruptly cut out. "Radio trouble," Rude mumbled, his hand drifting away from the radio's master switch.
There are a lot of quirky, funny, violent, or neato moments I didn't list, so check out the book if you want more insight. Hope this gave you some headcanon fodder.

A little MLP AU I'm slowly gonna make based on stuff for me to cope with-
Note: any fandom stuff i do is to be treated with patience as its all a side project for my main OC projects.
Celestia was a Unicorn, but Luna was an Alicorn.
Celestia wanted to be a ruler, not Luna.
Celestia was always pressuring Luna into things she didn't want.
Luna has some traumatic experiences, and blames Celestia for neglect due to Celestia being her official guardian.
Opaline is in this AU and is actually friends with Luna, she's older than both Celestia and Luna.
Opaline becomes the big sister figure Luna needed, though she is a little toxic towards her ( but nothing too extreme ).
Celestia doesn't know or care, pre Discord. Once they both prison Discord, where Luna feels guilt for it. Celestia tells her not to worry about it.
Celestia forbids Luna to see Opaline anymore, further causing Luna to be more and more bottled.
Luna has Nightmare Moon, and the beginings of the Tantabus as headmates ( they are NOT evil alters, she literally could do that all by herself. ).
Nightmare Moon actually is gentle and kind to Luna, and often soothes her. But one day, Celestia and Luna had an arguement over the day and night cycles, how no one saw her beautiful night sky. No matter how hard she worked, everyone took her for granted. So She broke, and Nightmare Moon took over to deal with Celestia.
she obviously lost and was sent to the moon which FURTHER corrupted Luna due to trauma and fears, while Celestia felt guilt, she didn't even bother to announce it or anything
Opaline hated Celestia for it, and left to go into hiding.
1000 years later, Nightmare Moon comes back and traps Celestia, not realizing Celestia was counting on it as a lesson for twilight.
The night and moon is usually purple and a full moon, but this night its a crescent moon and a very dark, almost black, blue, and no stars can be seen.
When NMM is "defeated", Luna comes back, but before Celestia returns, Luna notices Twilight and the main 6 with their elements. She is angry, and she asks what did Celestia tell her. Before anything can be said, Celestia comes and tries to act all high and mighty, pushing Luna to apologize and accept HER apology that was half assed. Luna reluctantly did it.
Luna often ran away from the Castle after that. At one point Celestia started questioning her about it, and she just flew away to ponyville.
She bumped into Twilight, and told her the truth. Twilight was in shock, and dissapointed in her mentor. She and the main six decided they would help Luna in anyway that they can.
Luna eventually learned about Sunset shimmer and Cadence, and was furious that Celestia replaced her twice and neglected Sunset.
Running out of ideas when i wrote this, but Luna eventually takes Sunset shimmer as a student, but beforehand she secretly teaches Cadence and Twilight things Celestia could never.Opaline never found out about Luna's return until way later when Twilight becomes a Alicorn.

Carter Sherman at The Guardian:
Awash in soft, peach-colored light, the infant yawns, sticks her thumb in her mouth and flutters her eyes at the camera. As the camera pulls away from her, an umbilical cord and the fleshy tunnel surrounding the infant comes into focus. This isn’t a newborn baby: it’s a fetus in a disembodied womb. “This is Olivia,” a British female voice narrates. “Though she has yet to greet the outside world, she has already completed an amazing journey.” Say hello to “Meet Baby Olivia”, an animated video made by an American anti-abortion group that purports to depict humans’ embryonic and fetal development in an alleged effort to convert young people to the anti-abortion cause. The video – or something very close to it – will be required viewing for public school students in two states, with several more potentially on the way.
Last year, North Dakota became the first state in the nation to pass a law mandating that schools screen “Meet Baby Olivia” or a similar video. This year, Tennessee enacted its own “Meet Baby Olivia” law, requiring that “Meet Baby Olivia” or something like it be shown as part of schools’ sex education curriculum. So far in 2024, legislators in at least 10 other states have introduced bills that would require schools to show students “Meet Baby Olivia” or, in language that appears repeatedly throughout the bills, a similar “high-quality, computer-generated rendering or animation” that shows “every stage of human development inside the uterus, noting significant markers in cell growth and organ development for every significant marker of pregnancy until birth”. Including Tennessee’s legislation, bills in at least five of the states cite “Meet Baby Olivia” by name.
Classrooms are a burgeoning front in the post-Roe v Wade abortion wars, as conservative activists have increasingly intertwined their attacks on abortion with their distaste for sex ed that discusses alternatives to premarital abstinence. But medical professionals have accused the anti-abortion group behind “Meet Baby Olivia” of spreading propaganda and even misinformation in order to convert young people to their cause.
Seven of the 12 states where the bills have been introduced or passed ban almost all abortions. So far this year, state legislatures have considered at least 135 sex-ed bills – a record number, according to a CNN analysis. Sixty per cent of them would restrict sex ed in some way. Live Action has denied accusations that any sentence of “Meet Baby Olivia” is inaccurate. “Baby Olivia’ isn’t about abortion. It never says the word ‘abortion’,” said Noah Brandt, Live Action’s vice-president of communications. “‘Baby Olivia’ is an important place for states like Tennessee and North Dakota to turn to next, to continue to do work to educate on both biology and life, because they’ve already protected life so now it’s about teaching people when life begins and to respect that.”
A quiet success story
The emergence of the “Meet Baby Olivia” legislation comes at a precarious time for the anti-abortion movement. Since the overturning of Roe, support for abortion rights has mounted even in conservative states. Some Republicans have tried to downplay their opposition to the procedure or even supported efforts to protect it, in a sharp departure from decades of marching in lock step with the anti-abortion movement. But as the anti-abortion movement flounders, the “Meet Baby Olivia” bills are a quiet success story. Abortion opponents overturned Roe by spending years pushing for state-level abortion restrictions; if a restriction was successful in one state, lawmakers in other states would copy-paste its language and introduce their own versions. This strategy gnawed away access to abortion. In the “Meet Baby Olivia” bills, observers see a similar strategy at play – and evidence of mission creep.
“Anti-abortion, anti-sexual and [anti]-reproductive health movements have been focusing on other areas and expanding their scope in terms of what is relevant to them and what they’re working on,” said Kimya Forouzan, principal policy associate of state issues at the Guttmacher Institute, which supports abortion rights. Although Guttmacher tracks restrictions on sexual and reproductive health, Forouzan said that she had never before seen legislation quite like the “Meet Baby Olivia” bills.
[...] In at least two states, West Virginia and Iowa, “Meet Baby Olivia” bills passed one legislative chamber, but both state legislatures have now shuttered for the year. Most of the legislatures that introduced “Meet Baby Olivia” bills have either ended their 2024 sessions or are set to do so in the next few weeks. Compared to the rest of the country, the states that have introduced “Meet Baby Olivia” bills this year – which also include Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina – have less comprehensive sex-ed policies, according to Siecus: Sex Ed for Social Change, a decades-old organization that issues best practice guidelines for comprehensive sex ed. (None of the states garnered more than a C grade in the Siecus ranking system.) Most states do not require public school sex ed to be medically accurate, culturally appropriate or unbiased, according to Guttmacher. Only four states say that sex ed cannot promote religion.
The Guardian reports on the disturbing trend of red states pushing new bills that require the showing of the propagandistic "Baby Olivia" video by anti-abortion extremist group Live Action in classrooms as part of the right-wing war on sex ed in schools.

Yippee!!! OC time! This is Angel!
(Art made with a Picrew)
She's a LN child, except due to the weird screwiness of The Nowhere, she has wings. She's 10 years old and isn't very good at flying, but she still can as a last resort. She likes helping other kids, usually by causing a distraction while using her wings to stay out of danger. She can still be knocked out of the air by ranged attacks tho, such as The Butlers telekinesis, The Hunters gun, The Viewers sonic screech attack, etc.
Backstory:
She was raised in a place called The Aviary, run by a monster called The Keeper. The Keeper had extremely long and thin arms and legs, paired with a tiny torso and very tall head. It would keep children contained in cages extremely high above the ground. Occasionally, it would take one and drop it from a massive height, seemingly trying to teach them to fly. Most children died on impact. Those who didn’t were taken and put into individual cages, closer to the center, where they were “cared for” more thoroughly by The Keeper, until they died from their injuries soon after. Angel, due to her wings, is the only one who survived without injury. She had tried to fly away, but had been caught by The Keeper, who seemed overjoyed at a true success. It had taken her and placed her in the pride of place, a golden cage in the middle of the Aviary. It always pays special attention to her, bringing her more food and little gifts, as well as taking the time to stroke her wings or head. Basically treating her like a beloved pet. She hates it. She doesn’t like being caged, she finds The Keeper revolting, and she is incredibly lonely.
She often watches the other children grouped in the other cages, taking note of how they, while far from being happy, share a sense of companionship with one another. One of them talked to her once. He was close enough that they could speak to each other. He was the one who had given her her name, saying she reminded him of stories he’d heard about Guardian Angels. However, The Keeper had walked in while the two of them were mid-sentence, and upon witnessing their conversation, it had immediately “tested” the boy. Angel can still remember the screams as the boy fell, and the sickening crack as he hit the floor. She’d stared in shock as The Keeper had picked up his limp body off the floor, before opening its mouth and sliding the boy in. It was only when she felt The Keepers hand patting her wings that she fully processed what had happened, breaking down and crying. She never tried to speak to another kid again, and they never tried to speak to her either. She tells herself that it wasn’t her fault, that he would’ve died eventually anyway, but sometimes despair overwhelms her to the point that this isn’t enough. After The Keeper dies (TBD) and she and the others escape, she feels even worse about it, wondering if he would’ve lived long enough to escape if it weren’t for her.
This is all I've got rn! Feel free to ask questions! And thanks for reading this! :D
I LOVE THIS!!!
I like the idea of that sort of twisted affection the keeper has for angel, she’s his prized pet, not a person or his child, just a pet.
I also can’t imagine the sort of guilt and pain from that kind of self imposed isolation that she endured. In a way, I’m sure a lot of ln kids probably have similar experiences causing some to be very closed off to communication. Not to mention the idea of “being alone in a room full of life” that’s going on with her being surrounded with other children yet ultimately being forced to not interact with them for their own safety and still being forced to watch them to fall to their deaths.
She’s in a literal prison made of gold. I also love the irony of her having wings yet still being trapped. In a terrible way, the very thing that saved her from dying while falling was what led to her being not just imprisoned again, but special in a terrible, terrible way.
If you have any more refs for her I’d love to draw her some time. Feel free to visit my ask box or dm me any time I’m always open to talking

The deepest question any of us can ask is: Who am I? To answer it we have to go deeper than, Where do I live? or What do I do? The most fateful moment in my life came when I asked myself that question and knew the answer had to be: I am a Jew. This is why.
I am a Jew not because I believe that Judaism contains all there is of the human story. I admire other traditions and their contributions to the world. Nor am I a Jew because of anti-Semitism or anti-Zionism. What happens to me does not define who I am: ours is a people of faith, not fate. Nor is it because I think that Jews are better than others, more intelligent, creative, generous or successful. It’s not Jews who are different, but Judaism. It’s not so much what we are but what we are called on to be.
I am a Jew because, being a child of my people, I have heard the call to add my chapter to its unfinished story. I am a stage on its journey, a connecting link between the generations. The dreams and hopes of my ancestors live on in me, and I am the guardian of their trust, now and for the future.
I am a Jew because our ancestors were the first to see that the world is driven by a moral purpose, that reality is not a ceaseless war of the elements, to be worshipped as gods, nor history a battle in which might is right and power is to be appeased. The Judaic tradition shaped the moral civilisation of the West, teaching for the first time that human life is sacred, that the individual may never be sacrificed for the mass, and that rich and poor, great and small, are all equal before God.
I am a Jew because I am the moral heir of those who stood at the foot of Mount Sinai and pledged themselves to live by these truths for all time. I am the descendant of countless generations of ancestors who, though sorely tested and bitterly tried, remained faithful to that covenant when they might so easily have defected.
I am a Jew because of Shabbat, the world’s greatest religious institution, a time in which there is no manipulation of nature or our fellow human beings, in which we come together in freedom and equality to create, every week, an anticipation of the messianic age.
I am a Jew because our nation, though at times it suffered the deepest poverty, never gave up on its commitment to helping the poor, or rescuing Jews from other lands, or fighting for justice for the oppressed, and did so without self-congratulation, because it was a mitzvah, because a Jew could do no less.
I am a Jew because I cherish the Torah, knowing that God is to be found not just in natural forces but in moral meanings, in words, texts, teachings and commands, and because Jews, though they lacked all else, never ceased to value education as a sacred task, endowing the individual with dignity and depth.
I am a Jew because of our people’s passionate faith in freedom, holding that each of us is a moral agent, and that in this lies our unique dignity as human beings; and because Judaism never left its ideals at the level of lofty aspirations, but instead translated them into deeds which we call mitzvot, and a way, which we call the halakhah, and thus brought heaven down to earth.
I am proud, simply, to be a Jew.
I am proud to be part of a people who, though scarred and traumatised, never lost their humour or their faith, their ability to laugh at present troubles and still believe in ultimate redemption; who saw human history as a journey, and never stopped traveling and searching.
I am proud to be part of an age in which my people, ravaged by the worst crime ever to be committed against a people, responded by reviving a land, recovering their sovereignty rescuing threatened Jews throughout the world, rebuilding Jerusalem, and proving themselves to be as courageous in the pursuit of peace as in defending themselves in war.
I am proud that our ancestors refused to be satisfied with premature consolations, and in answer to the question, “Has the Messiah come?” always answered, “Not yet.”
I am proud to belong to the people Israel, whose name means “one who wrestles with God and with man and prevails.” For though we have loved humanity, we have never stopped wrestling with it, challenging the idols of every age. And though we have loved God with an everlasting love, we have never stopped wrestling with Him nor He with us.
I admire other civilizations and traditions, and believe each has brought something special into the world, Aval zeh shelanu, “but this is ours.” This is my people, my heritage, my faith. In our uniqueness lies our universality. Through being what we alone are, we give to humanity what only we can give.
This, then, is our story, our gift to the next generation. I received it from my parents and they from theirs across great expanses of space and time. There is nothing quite like it. It changed and still challenges the moral imagination of mankind.
I want to say to Jews around the world: Take it, cherish it, learn to understand and to love it. Carry it and it will carry you. And may you in turn pass it on to future generations. For you are a member of an eternal people, a letter in their scroll. Let their eternity live on in you.
(Thank you The Rabbi Sacks Legacy this is incredible!)

Dosia 3, 6, 7 (as in, other children younger than him), 9, 12, 17, 18, 26, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 34, 42, 44, 49 teeheeee
Thanks for the asks @dullard, here you are!
3. Dosia is a very optimistic young man who always tries to look at the world in a positive way and not to give up. He keeps repeating the same thought: "I have no right to say that my life is terrible. I have a roof over my head, loved ones who care about me and goals for the future. Why should I be unhappy. Life is beautiful!" However, Dosia is unable to express his emotions normally. He is used to hiding all his insecurities, fears and pain behind a wide smile, he finds it hard to openly express his emotions even in the presence of his own owl mom/big sister. It's easier for him to accumulate it all inside until his guts are shattered.
6. His...huge... EARS. Sometimes he wishes he could get rid of them. He hates it when someone pulls on his ears, it's a very sensitive body part.
7. To be honest... Dosia is very afraid of children. He doesn't have hatred for them, but he feels like a fish out of water around them. But he would never hurt a child.
9. Fear of death
12. When people judge him by his looks.
He is a small fluffy cute harmless ecaflip, yes yes yes yes, but don't be surprised if he abruptly claws at your neck or strikes you with all his mighty hind legs
15. He chews on his paw when he sleeps...and he is a sleepwalker. Ro (his owl guardian) has gotten used to what he sometimes does in this state. Sometimes it's very funny and sometimes it's pretty scary. But it has become a kind of habitual action.
17. I think it is his unbreakable optimism and hope for a bright future, despite all the hardships and problems
18. His owl guardian (mom, big sister) Fukuro. They keep each other alive. They love each other very much, even though they are always bully each other (it's their thing, only the person who loves you the most can lovingly tell you: "Dosia, you're an ecaflip asshole" or "Ro, if you stay up all night again, I'll pull your feathers out and make earrings out of them GO TO SLEEP FOR FUCK'S SAKE").
26. Cheerfulness, goal-orientedness and cyclothymic disorder.
28. Anger. He is incapable of experiencing anger in the usual sense. Every time he encounters it, instead of irritation and aggression, he starts crying...and he hates to cry, but he can't do it any other way.
29. Ro, their new shared home (their small village and its inhabitants) and his book collection (he dreams of learning to write one day too)
30. His anxiety, insecurities and many fears. And also that he slept together with Ro in the same bed even after he stopped being a little bow meow
32. He doesn't want to think about it too much, it's painful memories for him (the death of his parents, wandering around the world looking for a new home). And it's never going to happen again anyway, right? Why think about it...
33. Friendliness, sociability, empathy
34. He constantly puts up with everything and tries to hide his problems (this brings discomfort not only to him, but also to his loved ones who worry about him). Dosia also gets jealous of his owl mom quite often and worries that others might hurt her. And...he has problems with personal hygiene (if he had a cat mom he could teach it properly, but his foster mom is an owl).
42. His looks, his high baby voice...and the fact that in his opinion he has become an disabling burden for Ro (he hates himself for it, seriously)
44. Fear... Fear of losing Ro. Fear that HIS life will end abruptly and Ro will have to live with it. Long story short, fear of death in any form.
49. He is proud that he is old enough to make his own life, to take care of himself and to be able to help Ro with whatever he can. Ro is the village chief and Dosia is happy to be her right-hand man.
*it's me after the end of writing this post*

tjoughts on bro strider?
i know i just said it but !!! so far i. dont know??????? like i have a lot of Hms about the way he raised dave especially about how he. apparently frequently beats his ass BUT!!!! to say that he doesnt love dave would be a lie i think because he did raise him at the end of the day, and he also protected him from the meteor and i just KNOW this guy has the Older Brother instincts. you cannot see a cute baby and decide to call yourself his Brother and not have the Older Brother instincts. and theres another thing!!! hes dave's bro, not dave's dad, so i think it would be fair to assume that hes the youngest guardian??? he must have been 20 when he found dave and i get that raising a kid when youre fundamentally a kid yourself isnt easy.
but like i cant Ignore how the way he brought up dave has given him a lot of issues and trouble expressing his emotions ((similarly to rose, i think mom lalonde and bro are very similar in that they care for their kids but they were literally thurst into their hands out of the blue, and they had some Issues they needed to sort out first to be a Good Parent; more obvious with mom and her alcoholism i think but bro has this too)). then again we dont know how bro was raised ((or at least i dont know yet, if they ever tell us)) and maybe he genuinely thinks hes doing whats best for dave. i dont want to get in too deep about how i also think that the fact that theyre both men might have a play in this too ((perpetuating toxic masculinity; also in a way similar to how roses relationship with her mother appears to me very influenced by the fact that theyre Mother & Daughter specifically)) but uh its a point to consider imo.
i just. i truly believe that like every other guardian he loves his baby brother. i also believe that hes never been taught how to properly express emotion, that hes basically a teenager when he finds dave, that he doesnt know what hes doing but he cant let it show because hes Too Cool for that, that hes been told that Men Are Tough and thats what he tries to teach dave albeit in an enterely wrong way ((i mean the idea itself is wrong but you get it)). basically i think he can be very interesting from what i know about him so far!! ill probably update this later on because theres no way were done with him or with any other beta guardian for that matter. but also i can understand perfectly why people wouldnt like him because he did basically abuse dave so.
tldr jurys still out with him but hes very interesting to me and im hoping that the story gives us any sort of explanation about why he is the way he is. i love sibling dynamics so im rotating him & dave in my brain 24/7 also i literally talked about this w my gf like 5 hours ago
#asks#bro strider#hmmm need a tag for when i go crazy autism on character analysis.......#whateva ill think it later for now ur getting the average tag#pau rambles#get analyzed idiot#thats the character analysis tag btw

Today we're talking about a massive thorn in my side, namely the "water under the bridge" mentality in response to interpersonal conflict. While there is a time and place for it, it leaves a lot to be desired as a default response.
Healthy relationships (romantic or otherwise) go through cycles of rupture and repair. Hurt and healing. Transgression and reconciliation.
This knowledge is usually passed down from parent/guardian to child, through direct instruction as well as example. Buut, if the 'mentor' was never taught this skill, they cannot teach it, and the 'student' will grow up with little concept of healthy confrontation, and instead learn that keeping pleasantries afloat - and yourself under control - is what matters.
Within this context, bringing attention to pain signals a lapse in judgement in those that know better, and a lack of discipline or consideration in those who don't. It's also a sign of precarity: without the ability to break the problem down, it's harder to develop a sense of proportion. Ergo, a threat is a threat, no matter if it's a small misunderstanding, a tangible disagreement, or a full-blown crisis.
×
As someone who did grow up with the skill to repair, my understanding of a mature response to conflict is to parse it out: picking a moment to bring it up, having an open conversation, figuring out the relevant differences in perspective and the actual (versus assumed) root of it all. Only then can the parties involved make up and move on.
I took this attitude for granted before cohabiting with someone without the repair skill and finding out the hard way that trying to fix things was not what was expected of me. The lack of closure was what kept me from feeling like things were okay between us - but for them, not leaving the problem alone was the only thing keeping it alive.
At first, I tried to earn the right to talk about it, thinking I just needed to phrase it right. When that didn't work, I tried convincing myself I didn't need repair after all (pretty funny in retrospect). In the end, I had to conclude that each person is responsible for their own willingness to put effort into understanding the needs of another, and that denying your own, no matter how justified the context, just leaves you with more trauma.
×
That said, I have no intention of treating these attitudes as two sides of the same coin.
"Water under the bridge" doesn't carry your problems away to harmlessly dissolve into the ocean. Those emotions will stick around until you acknowledge their existence and their purpose, meanwhile they’ll eat away at you from the inside, whether you've dulled yourself to the pain or not.
With so much unattended hurt floating about, pretending everything's fine is ultimately nothing more than damage control. It might distract from the immediate upset, but - despite individual sacrifices made for the common good - it doesn't functionally bring us closer together. The brain is wired to fill in whatever information we're missing, and has a chunky negative bias, so without facts telling us otherwise we're likely to assume the worst about a situation and those involved in it. The less you are inclined to prove those suspicions wrong, the more pessimistic your reality becomes. This is how you end up alone in a room full of people.
But we keep shooting ourselves in the foot because the only thing scarier than loneliness is vulnerability. Even if you're willing to admit change, you'll have your psyche screaming at you to quit digging your own grave the second you let your guard down (it's trying to protect you and doesn't know any better).
Sometimes you have to take yourself by the hand and tell yourself it's ok. That you deserve better. Because we all bloody deserve better than just living with the crap that doesn't resolve on its own.
#ramblepost#rupture and repair#and all this is without getting to nonverbal signals and unspoken agreements#what is your signal to go talk to someone#do you do it when you need help or when someone else does#do you need permission to talk#or permission to listen

Could I see hcs for Raiden Ei, Yae Miko and Hu Tao with an adopted child that is heavily implied to have had a very hard, sad and painful past before they took them in? The child is very quiet, timid, fearful and touch-starved, and has nightmares and is prone to crying. Is this okay?
Troubled Adopted Child Headcanons
When Ei ended up with this child, she was clueless about what to do.
She found the child lost in Inazuma, and they were clearly terrified of Ei.
She spent weeks trying to find their mother to no avail.
The pour thing wouldn't come near Ei, but if there were something scarier than her, like a guard, the young one would cling to Ei.
She developed an attachment quickly to the child, and soon she was taking them everywhere with her.
She would soothe the child when they woke up in the middle of the night crying, sometimes even getting into bed to help calm them.
Ei loves teaching the little ones about Inazuma and always tells them stories of its past.
Ei doesn't mind that the child cries a lot; she will always be there to wipe away their tears and remind them that everything will be okay now.
The child is always quiet in public or around others, but the moment they are only with Ei they become a chatterbox.
Ei's heart swelled with love and pride the first time her child called her Mama.
Kujou Sara is the only other person allowed to watch Ei's child, though she usually hides the entire time Sara watches her.
Miko never had any intentions of becoming a mother. But when she saw that young child hiding in a box on the street, something compelled her to help.
The child was terrified when Miko approached and offered them a place to sleep, but they still took her up on the offer.
Miko had a meal and a room prepared for them as soon as she returned home, and the child ate like it was their first meal in months.
That night Miko woke to screams, and she rushed into the room to find the child having a nightmare.
They clung to Miko, sobbing like a baby as she tried to soothe them.
Miko was attached from that moment on.
The child ended up living at the shrine with Miko. They were terrified of everyone, and it took a lot of work to get them even to leave the house.
Miko was patient with the child, even when they had been crying and sniffing for hours over something she considered trivial.
Her heart melted when the child asked if they could call her Mama since she was the mother they never had. Of course, she said yes.
As the child started coming out of their shell, the two of them became a duo, and you would never see Miko without her kid.
When Hutao discovered that two of her clients had a child that survived the accident, she had to meet them.
However, the child was terrified of Hutao, and it took multiple meetings before they would come out from hiding.
There was something about them that sent warmth through Hutaos heart, and she continued to visit them at the orphanage even after their parent's funeral.
She missed one week, and when she returned, the child came running up, clinging to her as they sobbed about her leaving forever. She knew at that moment that this child was going to be hers.
A month later, the adoption was complete, and Hutao was the young one's guardian.
Many things at the funeral parlor and Hutao's house scared the child, and she always found a way to make the scary stuff funny.
Always reads them to sleep and keeps a close eye on them throughout the night.
She doesn't mind their more withdrawn and quiet personality, and the more time they spend together, the more the personality of the young one starts to shine.
Hutao had always been "Auntie Hutao" until one day, without even thinking about it her child called her "Mommy Hutao," and it stuck.
I hope you enjoy! <3

I’m sure this won’t be a popular or hot take but I’ve tagged this post accordingly in the hopes that shippers won't see it unless they wanna. So let’s get into it. Todays topic is: Platonic relationships in media and how Sesshoumaru and Rin share similarities with them. Goodie!
I wanted to talk about these bonds to demonstrate something.
Sully and Boo - Sully takes on a more parental role, and while initially afraid, becomes attached to Boo and protects her. In the end, he leaves her in her bedroom and revisits after a couple of years, to be greeted with an enthusiastic ‘Kitty!’
Sesshoumaru and ‘parental’ might not be two words that immediately come to mind, but he does show his care. He buys Rin new clothes and protects her from danger. She listens to him and follows what he says extremely literally, freezing in place for several minutes when he says to do so. At the end of Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru leaves her with Kaede at the village and revisits every so often- still visiting 3 years later when Kagome returns. We can infer its a regular occurrence since no one is shocked to see him, so Sesshoumaru has remained in her life. He’s not her ‘Papa’ by any means, but he is, and remains her guardian in spirit. He will always be greeted with an enthusiastic ‘Sesshoumaru-sama!’
Shifting more into a teacher/ ruthless protector role now, the above is about John Creasy, who becomes a bodyguard to a little girl. Creasy teaches her how to improve her swimming speed and not to fear the whistle as much. He also protects and ultimately sacrifices himself for her.
Sesshoumaru does not fulfil a proper ‘teaching’ role to Rin in the traditional sense of what we, as humans recognise, but if you pay attention, he does stop and wait while Rin forages or sends Jaken and Ah-Un with her to hunt for food. Shippo is also seen foraging for his father in a flashback, so it’s very easy to interpret Sesshoumaru’s command that Rin ‘feed herself’ to be a method of teaching her how to hunt and survive independently. Like a demon would. He protects Rin, not because he’s a bodyguard, but because she’s a part of his group.
These two are actually kind of the closest relationship dynamic to Sesshoumaru and Rin I can think of. Teresa is a lot more cold-hearted towards Clare than Sesshoumaru is with his charge, but they have the same - ‘unstoppable, efficient killing machine is taught some humanity from a child’ thing going on.
Clare is mute when we first see her, she’s an orphan and traumatised. She latches onto Teresa and follows her wherever she goes - even following her off a cliff.
Rin is mute when we first see her, she’s an orphan and traumatised. She latches onto Sesshoumaru and follows him wherever he goes - and if he jumped off a cliff it’s fair to say she’d follow if he asked her to.
Now, Teresa tries to leave Clare for her own sake, to learn how to be a proper human. To live a human life. But Clare follows, and even after Teresa’s death, Clare idolises Teresa. Time does not temper her absolute adoration. (at least in the anime, I haven't read the manga) I don’t think time would temper Rin’s admiration either. Sesshoumaru would always have power over her. He would always be who she’d defer to, who would teach her right and wrong.
So yeah, these relationship dynamics are all slightly similar to Sesshoumaru and Rins, in various ways; but a key component is that their bond is NOT different from the ones shown. It’s never been intended as something set up to eventually be romantic. Unfortunately, the only thing separating Sesshoumaru and Rin from these other examples is that - Sesshoumaru is a hot, fictional male demon from an anime. Him being fictional allows for the prospect of eventual Sess/rin to be ‘softened’ for an audience in a way that John Creasy x Adult Pita is not. The latter would be unthinkable to many. Rin being fictional allows her to be shipped with her guardian and turned into a young teen bride in Yashahime. It being an anime also makes it seem ‘ok’ because anime is infamous for presenting this type of relationship ala Usagi Drop, but sometimes examples of it are removed these days like in Cardcaptor Sakura.
I hope I’m managing to get across the point that it’s the platonic dynamic in the OG Inuyasha between Sesshoumaru and Rin being changed into something romantic is what a lot of people like myself take umbrage with. I’m not getting into the grooming implications or arguments about her age when she gave birth - because that’s been covered extensively.
I’m saying that it’s sad. It’s really sad to me that this sweet, tender relationship of a traumatised orphan who latched onto the first strong presence she could was changed. Because platonic is never enough. Sex sells after all. If you are a Sess/rin shipper getting upset over what I’m saying - try looking at it like this. Monsters Inc 3 comes out: it’s been a few years. Boo is grown up *enough* that she’s been impregnated by Sully off-screen.
Do ya not see how that could be a liiitttle bit offputting?
Idk, Sesshoumaru and Rin’s bond was, and remains a beautiful platonic relationship in Inuyasha imo. All of this is just my personal opinion, I’m not trying to force anything on anyone. Just some food for thought.

Thoughts on Louie and Della's Relationship + which of the triplets is my vote for Most Likely to hold any sort of longterm grudge against their mom (and why it would be Huey)
I was looking through the Della Duck tag in my blog, when I came across some discourse about the Della-Louie relationship dynamic that I reblogged a while back. I was reading thru the comments and saw someone's HC about how S3 Louie might still hold a small grudge against Della for stealing the Spear of Selene.
And I'm like, no?? If any of the kids in S3 and beyond would hold any sort of substantial grudge against Della for taking the Spear, it would obviously be Huey.
Wait, why did I think that-
Then because Huey's not explored enough, I had to take a step back and think about why I thought of him as the most likely candidate.
First, to work thru my thoughts on Louie and Della's relationship, and why he's less likely to hold a grudge against her in the long run. To start things off, he and Della already had their big clash and make up in the S2 finale. Remember this?
Their small arc in S2 did important things for their character development. That's not to say that they'll never argue again, or that they won't ever have problems. I can certainly see Louie using the Spear as ammunition for a future fight, if things came to that. But Louie and Della have other traits in common, aside from sharp scheminess and their tendency to think that they're the smartest people in any room.
Louie and Della are communicators. Yes, they're both sly and manipulative. But their success in that department comes from their ability to understand people. Dewey might've inherited Della's impulsiveness and natural charisma- but his inclination toward dramatics, his need to be well liked by others, and his desire to stand out among his family and peers, all mean that Dewey is more likely than Louie (but not Huey) to keep secrets and his personal feelings quiet. Della and Louie? Much less so.
It took Louie less than a year to voice his insecurities about his capabilities as an adventurer to Huey. When their mom came back to the Manor, Louie voiced his personal concerns in the very same episode. Louie is a crier. He complains a lot. He's an excellent orator. By far, Louie is the easiest triplet to read as a character, because his thoughts and his intentions are made known to the audience very quickly.
On Della's side of the equation, it's strongly implied throughout the series that she served as the emotional translator between Donald and Scrooge. Don't get me wrong; Scrooge and Donald love each other very much, and they understand each other in a way that very few others do. But when wires get crossed and either of them clam up on their hurt feelings (or fight about other things to avoid the elephant in the room), Della comes in to mediate. She voices whatever the other person won't say out loud. But that deserves its own post.
Regardless of any trouble between Louie and Della, I'm sure of three things. 1) Della and Louie love and care about each other, 2) Della is trying her hardest, Louie doesn't like getting into fights, and he admires passion as a trait in other people, and 3) in spite of everything- despite how agreeable Huey is, or how Dewey's such a momma's boy- out of the boys, Della's relationship with Louie is probably the healthiest in the long run. When it comes to his feelings, Louie is the most emotionally honest triplet. If he beats around the bush, it won't be for long.
While Dewey and Della ride the same wavelength (which causes its own problems), she grounded Louie in Timephoon and said those infamous words because she's been in Louie's place before. She knows what scheming and selfishness got her and her family, and she doesn't want Louie to do the same thing. Because she knows she was harsh- and she knows she might've been too harsh, since she just began learning how to be an authority figure- Della is probably less confident with her ability to handle Louie properly. Which means she's more likely to go to Donald for help with Louie's issues, far more often than she might for Dewey and Huey. Louie will always let Della know where she stands with him. And while she won't take his shit, Della will listen and reciprocate his emotional honesty with her own.
Huey is not good at emotional honesty. Don't get me wrong, he's great at helping other people. But unlike Louie, Huey is as emotionally transparent with his insecurities as a steel bear trap.
So. Why Huey? As I mentioned above, he and Della have stuff in common. They enjoy video games and exploring. They're both outdoorsy. Della is giving this her best shot, and Huey's a kind kid. They get along fine, so obviously things must be fine. Right?
Rrriiiigggghhhhtttt. So, why do I think that Huey's the most likely of the triplets to have any residual resentment toward Della for taking the Spear?
Dewey admired Donald's commitment to his family, but he had to learn to respect him. Louie respected Donald's passion and work ethic, but he had to learn to admire him. Huey never had to learn any of that; Donald has held Huey's respect and admiration from Day 1.
Huey's uncle has a terrible temper. He's easily misunderstood by others. He's the hardest worker on the planet, but he's often underappreciated. Huey can relate. This intrinsic understanding is the root of Huey's longstanding admiration and respect for Donald's character and Donald's efforts. Despite their pre-series financial insecurities, Donald successfully raised three boys on his own while providing them with a relatively middle class lifestyle. Despite everything, Donald is rich in the love of his family and friends.
When it comes to Donald's difficulties with public society, out of his brothers, Huey is the most empathetic to their uncle's plight. He might not be a father of three, but Huey holds the best understanding of the responsibilities that Donald undertook on their behalf.
And therein lies the rub.
Huey Duck is the Responsible One. He works hard, takes his duties as the eldest triplet very seriously, and helps Donald wherever he can. Whether by serving as a vocal translator during a bank transaction, taking charge of his siblings when their uncle is away, or speaking in Donald's defense when his brothers call him boring or lame, Huey tries to makes things easier.
Della probably did some of those things for Donald when they were younger, and vice versa. I'm 99 percent sure that Donald has been teaching her how to AdultTM since she got back from the Moon.
(Because her impulsiveness got her stranded for 10 years).
Huey and Della love each other. They get along great. They have plenty in common. But Huey Duck is by-the-book, and naturally inclined toward hard work- just like his Uncle Donald. Della ripped up the book, took a shortcut, and had to learn to become hardworking the hard way. Huey Duck is the Responsible One. Della had to take a crash course in becoming a Responsible Authority Figure after Louie's scheming almost erased the family from history.
There are many reasons to admire Donald, but his ability to wrangle the three of them is probably near the top of Huey's list. If Donald wasn't responsible before the SOS Incident, he certainly learned to be. Huey has his own lifetime of trouble dealing with Louie's cons, Dewey's impulsiveness, and their collective recklessness and disregard for Huey's work and Huey's passions. They're difficult and infuriating, but Huey tries. And whenever Huey tries, his respect for Donald probably rises. Because Donald isn't their sibling- he's their uncle, their guardian, their first parent since the day the triplets hatched. While the triplets probably had honorary family in their lives long before they met Scrooge (apparently, Mouseton and Duckburg are very close to each other), Donald was HDL's only parent for 10 years.
Because Huey's mom was reckless, and got stranded on the Moon.
At least Huey knows where Louie and Dewey got it from. (It's bad enough, coming from them).
But Huey Duck is the oldest. He needs to be a figure of strength and capability. He needs to be a leader, needs to provide support, needs to be a good role model. His family relies on him for that sort of thing. Mom's been through a lot. Uncle Donald has been through a lot. Huey spent ten years watching his uncle go through a lot. Huey needs to set an example. He's the oldest- which means he needs to extend a hand, make an effort, and bury any proverbial hatchet even if it kills him a little.
(Huey wants things to run smoothly. Huey doesn't want to be a burden for others. Canonically, Huey locks away a lot of his own problems and internal anxieties...until his control slips. Huey hates it when that happens).
Let the record show that I love Della Duck. She's one of my favourite characters. I love how hard she tries, and she's come amazingly far. I'm sure Huey appreciates her efforts.
I'm not saying that canon Huey holds a grudge, or that he secretly resents his mom. I just think that out of all the triplets, he's who I'd pick as the most likely to do so. And unlike Louie and Dewey, Huey knows how to hide certain thoughts and feelings successfully. Huey can be anxious, but he can't be mean (he's already weird and nerdy, he can't afford to be mean). Huey has spent his entire life honing his control over his less...socially acceptable emotions. (Hello, Duke). If Huey has grudges about Della and the Spear or anyone and anything else, I have faith in his ability to hide those negative thoughts for a long, long time.
Until he can't.

i know u asked for sherlock and iris for the character relationshjips ask game SO if someone else hasnt sent them yet do them but i want to hear you ramble abotu homumiko also. [holding you at gunpoint]
as you know i got a homumiko ask already but everyone look at it again “basil its long and incomprehensible and most of your followers dont even really know who these guys are” LOOK AT THEM. THEYRE KINDA WEIRD
ANYWAY !!!!!!! YAYYAYAYAYA IRIS AND SHERLOCK YAAAAAAAY. this post is probably gonna get long too so heres my eyecatch so people who dont wanna read all that are still forced to see them
describe their canon relationship/dynamic
describe their canon relationship/dynamic
tumblr is being buggy with this post.
God…. how do i…. they have so much going on …. lets start with the basics hes her dad. Obviously. thats her dad. he was handed a baby and just went Ok!!!!!!!! and took care of her forever. thats her dad. Iris’ main, initial frame of reference for The World and Being A Person is This Fucking Guy.
There is also the fact that thru most of the games she is not Calling Him her dad </3 consequences of. him telling her hes not her dad ansbJSHJSNSJSNSJSNWJS. even still as ryuu & susato say they have a parent child relationship … for the jokes abt iris being more lkke the parent of course which Is True and a Straightforward Joke But Still Really Funny. but he still is. like. The Dad Equivalent. Her Guardian. even when not actually Her Dad. they have a mutual duty of care. Sherlock makes sure they have money to buy food & Iris actually Makes Edible Food and thats about it you know.
they have the funniest fucking dynamic. Ever,. they treat each other like Equals. they talk to each other like Colleagues. They literally try to steal money from each other. iris bullies him all of the time and he also sort of bullies her back. Iris walks around loudly announcing embarrassing facts about him in public and Sherlock yells at her about it and no one feels bad and they love each other. and she kicks him. theyre so funny
Basically just. thats her dad. they are also best friends being each others constant companions for ten years (Because he raised her from birth). they steadfastly look out and care for each other. and every morning they wake up and try to invent new ways to be mean to each other
your ideal/headcanon version of it? how does it differ from how it is in canon & why is this your favorite version? any other alternate versions of it you enjoy?
in terms of Their Relationship Dynamic there is no way to improve upon it. there is nothing to change. theyre perfect. this is the best relationship ever. but i still of course have lots of headcanons about them. where do i even begin
for one thing as is probably already clear i thimk every day abt what capcom refuses to give us answers on: Iris’ Early Childhood and The Process Of Sherlock Raising Her. please i wanna know what that was like. And continues to be like tbh its just not something we see much bc its not relevant to ryuus side of things…… First of all: he has undeniably tried his best to take care of her and done an overall good job. look at her. Mikotoba would not have trusted sherlock with an entire fucking baby if he was not confident the man could like. Handle It. Successfully keep another human alive and make sure she comes out overall well adjusted and all that. But hes still. Sherlock Holmes (Ace Attorney Character). He. again. does not seem to have any perspective on what to prioritize. I just think he went “okay time to teach iris The Basics” and then jumped straight from “heres how to write your name” to giving her lectures on something he learned the other day about aerodynamics and skipped over a bunch of stuff in between and didn’t really realize until she, like, saw an owl and went UNAUTHORIZED FUCKING BEAST? because she was like 5 and had still never heard of an owl.
Also im glad everyone in the world independently got up and thought “he definitely took that baby to crime scenes” because he definitely took that baby to crime scenes. Like. As everyone has said 200 times. What the hell else is he gonna do? He has to take cases or he DIES. There is no one he is close enough to for him to go Hey take my baby for a while. He’s broke as fuck permanently he cant PAY someone to watch her. Come on 8 month old child who’s still figuring out how to, like, Exist, let’s go Solve A Mystery. I don’t think she’s ever, like, seen a dead body, though. It’s all in my head, you understand, I have the whole escalation of it in my mind - when shes a Really Tiny Baby he has to just focus on Watching Her and can only take the kind of cases that can be solved sitting in the living room (he is going insane), then when he gets past the “what if i stop paying attention to her for ONE SECOND and she EXPLODES” phase he can do stuff that actually requires Investigation, then the second she’s able to Talk he goes Yeah that probably means she can Help with investigations now. and shes iris so hes right. I think 1-5 is prrrrrrobably her first Murder Investigation though. shes a little girl! you don’t take a little girl to a murder scene! Except under special circumstances!
This veered in … some slightly different direction than just Their Relationship i guess but fuck dude it was fun. Like. I like them. I think about them. i think sherlock went oh god oh fuck i dont know what children are like whats good for children *thinks about him as a child* I WAS WEIRD WASNT I THAT WONT WORK *iris turns out to be Just Like Him* Oh thank god here 4 year old child take this chemistry set and scrap metal. Go wild.
what do you like about their relationship, why is it interesting or enjoyable to you?
I swear to god ive probably said this on 80% of these ask game responses: I like family. They family. all ace attorney games kind of have a Found Family cast in the end, but they dont generally refer to characters who dont have clear cut straightforward straight up family relationships As Family, except DGS, which has ryuu explicitly call them His Family, and, and, I don’t know that the themes of The Importance Of Family & Family Being Something You Can Choose play a huge role in the story of dgs itself in most places, esp the Chosen Family bit, but its THERE, in ryuu calling the gang his wonderful family & iris adopting him and susato as her siblings & mikotoba caring for asougi like his son and Most Prominently, Iris Calling Sherlock Her Dad. which i will elaborate on the importance of in a minute but anyway i just think theyre really cute and really funny
what about the individual characters involved? what does this relationship mean to them, what makes it unique among their relationships?
YOU REMEMBER THAT THING I SAID BRIEFLY IN THE HOMUMIKO ASK ABT MEETING SOMEONE RIGHT WHEN U REALLY NEED IT. *pulls out yet another pepe silvia style conspiracy board* Here i actually made a chart.
I don’t remember almost anything abt the mainline AA series, only remember this bc I’ve seen it mentioned so much, and don’t even remember it clearly enough to know for sure if it’s Dialogue From The Game or just Conclusions People Reached but you know that shit about, Phoenix gets disbarred and its A Bad Time For Him but its Less Bad Than It Could Have Been because at the same time he gets Trucy and now he has Trucy. Like. Same concept. “Accidental Child Acquisition leading to Better Ability To Cope With The Shit That Just Happened In Your Life” is more common than you might think apparently. Inspiring! Every Day This Man Holds Off Emotional Breakdown Until AFTER His Baby Is Fed
If i was ever going to say more about his side of things thanjudt. All That. i forgor. shes dotter. incontext the “i raised you well!!” line is just , a joke abt him being proud of her for something He Very Much Does Not Ever Do Himself but still like WAH . proud of dotter.
Anyway originally i was like, what the hell can I say about iris? That’s her dad and that’s about it. And then I went Simon are you fucking STUPID? THATS HER DAD. THATS THE POINT. God… oh my god …….
Basically!! Returning to the point about Choosing Who Your Family Is and how Sherlock & Iris and specifically Iris calling him her dad for the first time (since we met her) is the most prominent example in the game!!!
Iris’s Whole Deal™️ is she got her World Changed by finding out sherlock wasn’t her “real” dad and her dad was Some Guy She’s Never Met and now she goes then who the fuck IS my dad? Where do I come from? Who Am I? and her Search For Her Dad, Desire To Meet Him, & Attempt To Feel Closer To Him By Reading His Notes And Putting Herself In His Shoes is like. a big part of her identity. For like maybe almost half her life up to this point too!! And …… then she gets closer & farther away & closer & farther away and she decides Susie & Ryuu r her Siblings and somewhere in all of this. decides it doesnt matter quite That much who her “Real” Dad is because shes not defined by her biological father and she already. Has a dad. cries. And. And. And because of the time she spent Not Thinking Of Sherlock As Her Dad it means hes her dad ultimately because She Decided It . not bc he or anyone else said it should be like that but bc she decided he is her dad.
So like . you know. starts sobbing in the streets. anyway they r just both very very important to each other
favorite interaction they have in canon
First prize goes to the off-screen interaction Iris mentions in the credits where she gave him a note that just said like “thank you for everything daddy!” and he read it and started crying. Its like. The ONE thing about dgs2 i remembered with Clarity. in the years between my first & second times watching dgs i thought about it often and i still do.
Second prize goes to her going “oh its just a wax figure see *KICKS HIM AS HARD AS SHE CAN*” itsso fucking funny. that was not necessary. at all. she just wanted to kick him huh
favorite interaction they have in your head/a situation you want to put them in
FUCK UMMM. UHHHHH. i already kind of talked about it but even though i dont think its really even IMPLIED? that sherlock has ever taken her to Investigate A Case? she just stays at home generally? In my heart she goes with him and helps out somet8mes. i want to see it.
what else. obvious and not really the kind of thing id put in this category generally but like Iris finds out her dad was klimt when. hey fuckos!! When r u going to tell her !!!
alsgo i have a weakness for Older Iris content like ough my god 🥺🥺 ou my goed 🥺🥺😭 She growed. one day she will not be the most powerful 10 year old in the world she will be the most powerful 20 year old in the world. show me !! show me !! I want to see!! she is going to do so fuckinf much its unreal!!
Finally, i thought of this ages ago for reasons now forgotten to me and just remembered it today. sherlock & iris & date & mizuki hangout. tehyre *checks notes* girls who do violence on their dads sometimes and that’s about it but its funny right
In conclusion: kiss on top of iris little baby head. appreciate her
#this post took uhhh. LIKE 5 OR 6 HOURS TO MAKE .#MAYBE CLOSER TO 7??#i hit post limit. then ikept getting interrupted by other stuff. then i made the post very long#its. very long.#*iris voice* this is my cringe ass roommate who always breaks the dishes when he washes them#OH: IN BETWEEN THE VIOLIN THING (MENTIONED IN OTHER POST)#& JUST. LIKE. IN THE POSITION OF A DGS FAN HOW CAN U READ THE SH STORIES AND NOT SOMETIMES GO#‘LOL IRIS WROTE THIS’#ITS LIKE. LOL IRIS WRITES ABT SHERLOCK IN A WAY THAT MAKES HIM SOUND COOLER THAN HE IS#‘YOURE SO FUCKING LAME. DONT WORRY ILL MAKE PEOPLE THINK UR REMOTELY COMPETENT’#LOVE IT. LOVE HER#basilask#dgs from my brain

Destiny 2: At the Edge of the Deep
Gift fic for @synnthamonsugar! Eris recruits Oryx, newly awakened after his imprisonment in Touch of Malice, to help map Savathûn's throne world. Without her, they'll never secure enough of a front to drop patrols. But the Hive king has his own opinions about his sister. Eris/Toland and Eris & Oryx.
The essence of Oryx crackled.
Eris Morn held it in one hand while she pushed aside jungle plants with the other, and tried not to listen to the whispers. She had disinterred Oryx from within Touch of Malice, but in no way let him lead the excursion into the High Coven to find a place for the Guardian to create a landing zone.
He spoke, though. He had conjured a voice out of Touch of Malice’s victories, and spoke like gunfire and the hiss of hot oil. “Where have you brought me? Are we under the Deep or under the Sky?”
Eris ignored his question. It would not help to give him too much information. “We are doing the grim work. Orient yourself to the emptiest place here. Tell me where we might find a safe hovel we can turn into a palace.”
“A reasonable goal for any army. Yet, I believe you are not being honest with me about its nature. You refuse to finish your transformation, Eris Morn. I have survived mine, and mine again, and this one you yourself inflict on me. You’re weaker for resisting yours.”
Surely he meant the way Eris had become partially Hive, and had now taken from the Lucent Brood their own unique ability to wield the Light when Savathûn had offered it. What trap still lay before her with that as bait? Still, she had wanted the Light back for so long. To have it was a rare satisfaction.
“My time among your torturers was transformation enough for multiple lifetimes,” Eris said.
“You do not understand. The worms made me stronger, as even the way you lashed me to metal and cursed fluid physics did not.”
Now it was Eris’ turn to ignore him. “You merely protest against the inevitable. Guide me.”
The orb could not look around the green-yellow jungle, but it gave a good impression. Somewhere in the distance, artificial sun flashed off stagnant water like the gleam of an animal’s eye. Eris knew there were Hive Lightbearers lurking, but did not sense any nearby.
“This is the Deep, I think … “ Oryx said. “No, this is some realm colonized by the Sky. I feel … its influence.”
“Ignore it! Which way? And do not tell me north.”
Oryx laughed. Eris had not missed that sound. It reminded her of teaching Guardians to breach Oryx’s throne world, of the smells of salt and decay in the Dreadnaught’s most royal courts. “Or what?”
She had thought of goading him like an ill-treated animal. The Ahamkara shard might be able to wish a burn upon him, or a Ghost peel away his constituent molecules until it approximated something like pain. But that was a depth to which she was not willing to fall for this particular mission. It would be too cruel, would cost her own soul too much. “Or else you’ll be simply a gun again, put away in some forgotten vault. The Vanguard has not yet approved use of you in today’s wars. You will be … bored.”
Oryx’s containment field seethed with molten silver and Taken-black. “If I were here alone, I would walk thus.”
And he lead.
Walking for hours, she did trust him. Long leaves crunched under her feet. Bugs flitted in clouds, smaller versions of the Hive’s pale cave moths. The air held enough heat to make Eris sweat, but not, she imagined, as much as a tropical jungle on Earth might — the fecund environment here was convergent, not a replica.
Rock outcroppings and smaller-leafed trees marked a change in microclimates. They were approaching the large lake, if she had any sense of the place at all.
“This is not the right way,” she said, but did not stop pushing through the underbrush.
“This is the way that calls to me.”
“They are not the same. And this is why.” Realization moved at the same speed as the words. Eris crouched down to hide herself from what eyes might be looking from Savathûn’s castle. She held the essence of Oryx in line with it before letting the fronds of giant ferns and the feathery lower branches of alien pines obscure them both. “I told you not to go north."
“My sister,” said the essence of Oryx, crackling like a forest fire.
Eris let him sit there for a bit, just looking.
“We have remade each other so many times. And we thought the killing was the end of it. Thought that we could change each other without feeling the consequences of that change. Do you know what that’s like? To win only to lose, over and over?”
Eris did not dignify this with a reply.
The wind kicked up whitecaps on the green lake’s surface. Beyond it, the island that was the center of the queen’s court hung bone-white, here a skeletal blade, here a gentle cove.
Oryx said, “She found the worm, but I steered the ship. I turned the mast. Deal-maker and navigator, we were. I loved her like the sail loves the wind. When you release me to die for the last time, I will at last go someplace new.”
Eris made a conscious effort to stop her teeth from grinding. Oh, weren’t there always words like this? Things from the deep singing sweet songs. What melodies would come out of the spiny mouths of angler fish if they could only speak. But instead of light Oryx had the love of his sisters, and the trouble was even the deep sea prey needed light. Even they came to it for a reason.
Until the con artist, the predator, bit down.
Eris said, “I suspected you might come here.”
“And did not stop me?”
“Some bonds can’t be broken. Some roads cannot be forgotten. You needed to walk this one. Like calibrating an instrument. You will direct me true, the next time.”
This would prove true, later. For a while, she let what remained of Oryx watch and remember. He never asked to see his sister in the flesh. Whether this would prove to be premonition or plot or a sign of healing, she would not soon know.
Eris Morn swam, suspended above the world built by her enemy.
The High Coven: a place of fey strangeness. Plants never seen on Earth or in some dripping corner of the Dreadnaught unfolded in lacy spirals up from the silty bottom of a warm pool in the labyrinthine swamp. Guardians had hacked out patrol points here with the efficiency they were known for, and, perhaps, Savathûn let them. A double-cross was still coming, Eris suspected sometimes. Still, the warm, deep water relaxed her muscles, soothed her skin. She surfaced loose and calm, at home in a way she rarely felt. Rarely felt the need for it either, but now and then …
The green jungle, dotted with red flowers, offered humid air and the rustling of insects. Toland the Shattered sat with his legs in the water and his hands trailing ripples. The closeness of Hive power made his ghostly body more solid than usual, his appearance more detailed and more like to what he had been in life. With hair wet and shoulders hunched he could have emerged from the swamp, another one of Savathûn’s creations.
Eris floated toward him with lazy strokes, enjoying the green shimmer of the water and the plump shape of her own body. She was safe — she would not starve today. She rested her chin on her arms beside him, water dripping from her horns and hair.
Toland leaned down to look at her. “So, your mission is done.” She appreciated how he could make even stilted words sound melodic. He sounded old, his throat cracked — but let some of the perfect pitch suggest itself, too.
The essence of Oryx returned to its containment, back within the shell that had held it in Touch of Malice, but warded on Eris’ workbench. It was safer there than in the Tower, thought Eris, and it still had something to look at …
“Do you want praise for your bravery today, or bravery for the soft parts that remain in your soul?”
She rested her cheek on her arms, thought about it. The black ichor that flowed across her skin diluted into spilled ink in the green water. “Fortitude for the coming darkness.”
“Ah, yes. After all, the message you carry itself carries messages.” He trailed a finger along the ridge of her cheek, parting ichor. “At journey’s end there will be rest again. Look upon what you have made. Or, perhaps, what you have not … the idle fancies, the ease within the churn, the time slowed. You have fought enough, Eris Morn.” She shut her eyes as he stroked her face to her mouth, ran his finger across the full curve of her lower lip. “Craft such a clever way to give in.”
She pressed her lips against his palm. Toland slipped into the water, and for a while Eris did not think of her mission at all.
