“I don’t like that look in your eye, yes six minutes” and “you love it” are two of my favorite lines in the entire show and I don’t talk about them enough. That whole exchange is fascinating, really.

Owen knows where Curt is going with this, he knows Curt’s going to take a risk to make their mission more exciting. The mission had gone so smoothly already, they were doing well. They were being cool spies are Curt thought adding a little bit of spice to it would be fun. Owen knows this, and lets him do that he wants. Curt asks him if they could do it in 5 minutes, Owen lowers it to 4. I don’t think Curt realizes in this moment that lowering it again would be such a problem, I mean, of course he doesn’t?

Owen knows this look from Curt, and he probably does actually love it. He loves the risks Curt takes, I think if they had made it out of there alive he would’ve probably pushed Curt against the wall, call him a dumbass for a moment, and then it would be over. No more anger or annoyance, because they did make it out.

And of course Curt knows all this, that’s why he can get away with it.

I think that when Owen falls though, he finally realizes how lenient he has been with Curt. Every near death experience from the both of them is a thrill, but I think Owen always expected that Curt would come back for him if something like this were to happen. So when Curt doesn’t come back, when he looks down to see Owen on the ground and then leaves, he can’t hide the fact that Curt is reckless, that he’s gotten them in trouble on multiple occasions. I mean of course he’d hate Curt after all of that, who wouldn’t?

y’all were right about Lower Decks it is the best new Star Trek show by far.  It’s truly an ensemble cast. There’s a good balance of action and drama, just in a quicker format for comedy which works well, much better than the action-only new series.  Most of all it’s FUN again.  I love the dull, mundane tasks they are always doing and how they are all nerdily excited about it in different ways. 

Also I’m only a few episodes in, so this is just my first impression.  But how old is Beckett Mariner supposed to be?  She’s treated like a teenager.  I’m interested to see where they go with the villainization of the captain.  Right now it’s in the level of “controlling parent” and “glory chaser” but how far will she compromise her ethics?  When will she cross that line for good?

I’m excited to learn more about Orion culture too!

So, i'm currently travelling acrosd country by train. And it's still early. And the sun is rising. And when i look out the window i can see the shadow the train makes. I'm all the way up front, so i can see the nose of the train in the shadow.

And there's something to special about it. Knowing you are casting a shadow, but it's not you. Your shadow currently doesn't exist. Yet you are casting a shadow. A communal one. With all of the people and personnel on board. We are all sharing a shadow at the moment, through the shadow of the train.
