Hi. Many fans disappointed with new chapter. I see many complaining. I am more pissed because of Bakugo.
I am now sure that in next chapter Izuku will be catched by Ochako or sonehow Shigaraki give Izuku OFA back or his original quirk. Dont know.
How do you think DFO will be revealed then Shigaraki and AFO destroyed? Both spirituality and phisicaly.
Well, its no wonder people are upset after that shitfest of a chapter. That propably was the most anticlimactic final bossfight I have ever seen in a manga and after all the talking how izuku wants to safe tomura, dude just dies and izuku is fine with it. He just failed his attempt to save the person he wanted to save the most, but hey I guess the fistbum makes up for it (it does NOT!) Im actually curious how the japanese fanbase reacted to all of that.
I mean, of course hori had to force bakugou in it for a final time. Hes his golden baby boy afterall. Izuku cant do anything without bakugous or other peoples help. He is not allowed to shine on his own in his own fight against the main villain in HIS story. Nope, bakugou needed to help to give the final blow to afo TWICE, because HE is the true VIP of mha! I have actually seen quite a few bakugou fan who were not happy about it. If even his FANS complain about how forced and unnecessary that part was, maybe hori should ask himself if his staning for that one specific character is not going a little bit to far. I mean, seems like we just were all dumb. At the beginning of the story we were told izuku is a useless loser because he cant do anything without the help of others and in the end it turns out it was true. How could we not see that comming? The mc was not allowed to defeat the main villain himself and needs others, espicially his abuser to help him. Wow, what a great message! And the most depressing point is that hori was clearly trying to make that look like a positiv thing. There is one thing I can say for sure. I will never touch any work from hori ever again.
If this was really the conclusion of the final fight, then congratulation hori, you managed to write a more rushed and horrible conclusion for your story, then tite kubo did with bleach (which to be fair was not kubos fault but shonen jumps). Hori did literally EVERY SINGLE character except bakugou dirty and in the end even startet to write against his own established themes in the story.
Regarding dfo: I already mentioned it a few times in the past. Im still positiv dfo is canon BUT I also said I dont think anymore that dfo will end in a satisfying way. Which actually goes against what hori said, that readers wont feel dissapointed when he reveals hisashis true identity. But, right now I dont see how hori plans to manage that even with a twist. Even if lets say the clone theory ends up true (which would be hilarious because I was JOKING when I came up with it), it still would feel like so much wasted potential. And the thing is, while it would make me happy if it turns out true I would still be mad about all the rest hori fucked up which would make it impossible for me to enjoy the dfo reveal. And as much as I love dfo, if it turns out the afo clone theory is true and hisashi is the real afo who gets a happy ending while tomura stays dead and doesnt get one after everything afo did to him and the rest of the lov stay miserable too, I will still give hori the middlefinger. The only way I would be able to enjoy it is if hisashi ends up as the afo clone who choose a different path then his original body. It would still make dfo canon just in a unexpected way and it could be interesting to see in hisashi that afo COULD have been happy if he had choose a similar way.
I dont know, maybe in the end there is really some kind of twist involved. Shonen jump still hasnt announced that mha will end in the next few chapters and normally they do that at least 5-10 chapters before the final chapter. Maybe we are just panicking over nothing and hori has everything planned out perfectly. Maybe there is more to come. We really cant say for sure. There are still some plots who need answers and I cant see how hori wants to conclude everything in just 2 more chapters. On the other side this final arc was horrible rushed, even more horrible written and all in all a big dissapointment and waste of a lot of peoples time.
Who knows maybe thats why there is a break next week. So hori can wait for the reactions of the readers and include whatever twist he may think could work.

Don't you think it's funny cause actual canon gay characters in BL manga/manhwa will say "I love you" but only the shounen bromance can spew out some of the most romantic shit akin to a 19th century poet writing a letter expressing his surpressed love for his lover 😭.....
ok but when you put it like that...
This is an interesting conversation to have because I am not sure it's so much about the demographics (shonen is more of a demographic than a literary genre although it does have certain characteristics that define it because of its intended demographic), as it is about writing skill and being able to show vs. tell.
Because, as a fujo who went through a thirsty fujo phase, I consumed a lot of bl. Like... A LOT. And I came out of that phase accepting the cold realization that I did not like most bl/yaoi because it is highly clichéd and relies on tropes entirely way too much.
Like I literally used to say "I read yaoi for the plot" because...
GIVE ME THE CHEMISTRY, GIVE ME THE DYNAMIC, GIVE ME THE DRAMAAAAAAAAA!!!!
To your point under the cut 😂 ...
Man, I just can't get over how well you put it.
Anyways, given how you framed your ask, so do you think it's a male perspective thing? I ask because I do recognize that sometimes the way male friendships are portrayed in animanga feels very intimate and very unique to Japanese media, although I could be wrong.
Because, if we're talking about the big battle shonen bl manga out there, jjk, naruto, bnha, hq, etc. are the big "offenders" and these are all male authors (well, we're not sure about hq). So I can see why you feel like these characters are able to express their perspective for each other in a way that you don't see in other manga.
Personally, I am a big fan of how CLAMP (who are all women and very possibly all queer) executes LGBTQ+ dynamics. An example found in a shonen manga that I particularly love is kurofai from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.
And the thing about this pairing is that you never hear them say "I love you." Instead you are shown through their behavior towards one another and the subtext how much they have grown to care for each other.
In addition to the majority of CLAMP's m/m dynamics (across a variety of manga published for different demographics), another couple of examples of gays I love include Tomoko Yamashita's pairing in Sankaku Mado no Sotogawa wa Yoru (although I didn't care for the ending), Yoneda Kou's Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai, and obvs Sayo Yamamoto and Mitsurou Kubo's Yuri on Ice. I haven't read/seen Banana Fish but I understand that's another bl fan fave classic that is good.
So there are some good dynamics out there outside of shonen lol, you just have to dig for them like a maniac... or so I've been told ehem.
But even as masterful as CLAMP is at executing soulmate dynamics, if you specifically take itafushi for example, Gege's ability to vest that bromance with so much beauty is just off the charts something else. As a woman I find the container of this dynamic to be deeply aspirational. There's this shared and unspoken understanding between the two characters, not to mention love that... idk.. it just has this... je ne sais quoi.
idk... I am curious about more #thoughts on this because there's a lot going on here in terms of self-insertion into male characters, equality in dynamics, just so much to unpack.
Please feel free to send all the #thoughts to whomever else reads this!
Thanks for reaching out anon!!!!

I got interested at Bleach again recently, and sadly, some of my favorite characters in Bleach is very minor characters, include Kaien and Masaki. I came across your fic just about a week ago, and thank you for the great works. I think I read each and every one of your fic at least four times last week. I never knew I needed some good Ichigo-Kaien cousins relationship, and your works scratched an itch I never knew I had.
So, how long do you planned to write your works? Most Bleach fic writers hate lost agent arc (I dont like it either, but the concept of fullbring is good. I just hate Ichigo's final fullbring design), and you jokingly said something about BB!Kaien flirting some of the female quincies on other asks. Nepenthe starts even before turn back the pendulum arc, so it may take a completly different course of actions from canon. The twin fic, you said it will go under a rewrite, didnt even started soul society arc. I am just curious how long I can enjoy your fic.
And I admit I am curious about how Kaien will play out in some of the anime only arcs. I am manga only reader, and I dont really watch anime in general, but I am seriously considering to watch the anime arc only episodes. Im pretty sure that you will skip those parts, but can you show us what do you think of them?
I'm glad you're enjoying what I've written so far.
Kaien is a criminally underused character and he was one of my favourites for a good long time. I genuinely believe he and Ichigo would've gotten on extremely well, and that Kaien would've been the big brother Ichigo never realised he needed.
For Black and Blue, obviously its going to be canon divergent by virtue of Kaien's living status and his speed-running Ichigo through 'How To Train Your Hollow'. Events will not marry up to the canon timeline. At least not completely, Aizen will face the music - that's a given.
Truth be told I actually dislike Thousand Year Blood War. And in my story, several character's fates set in stone. Many of which run heavily contradictory to the events of TYBW, so I'm electing to ignore that arc. If I touch the Quincy conflict... I'd probably rejig a lot of lore for my narrative.
Tangentially, regarding the flirting with a Quincy joke? BB!Kaien already has an endgame love interest. Hilarious as that would be, they are not a Quincy.
Lost Agent Arc is... one that I've grown to appreciate as I've gotten older, but back when I was reading Bleach week by week, I found it completely insufferable and I spent most of my time bemoaning 'Hurry up and give him his powers back, Kubo."
Though, frankly, I never bought why Ichigo had to lose his powers in the first place, especially when the Hyog had established weaknesses within it which would’ve allowed victory by attrition. And Duex Ex Final Getsuga hits a wrong note with me no matter how you slice it. You can’t describe it as anything other than an ass pull and hand of the author at play.
My conclusion as an adult looking back; Lost Agent, I sit comfortably on the fence. Its okay. Not offensive, not inoffensive, just average. That being said, I have touched on Ginjo Kugo's existence in BB, so that might be another thing I'll have to explore as part of the epilogue. Or in a side/sequel story.
However. My dislike for TYBW aside, I do intend to write independent What-If scenarios for certain events that take place; Kaien's reaction to Ukitake's sacrifice, what Sternritter I'd of had him fight. Things of that nature.
My intention for Black and Blue is to conclude the Winter War with Aizen's defeat and have the Zanpakutou Rebellion arc (anime only) function as a winddown with some rejigging to make it fit into BB's narrative. Then a 'Where are they now' epilogue some years or decades hence because after this hell, these guys have earned their happy endings.
Once More To See You Again I'm focusing on transforming it into a cohesive narrative with some liberties taken with worldbuilding. Rather than have Rukia be persecuted for creating a Shinigami Substitute when there's clearly provisions for one; she pleads guilty to interfering with the Cycle of Souls and reassociation with a reincarnated soul. In OMTSYA Rukia is trapped in a catch-22; Report the Shinigami substitute which reveals the reassociation and end in both their executions, or request a transfer, which leaves a substitute undocumented and unsupervised and end in both their executions. Dealing with that conundrum is going to be interesting. :)
(That, and I didn't like Kaien's aspects fighting each other during Ashewallen. Especially considering how Ichigo's aspects only ever desired to protect him.)
That will last until at LEAST the end of Soul Society. But I do have ideas for interactions with the Visoreds, other Arrancars and how Hueco Mundo would go down. Let's face it: Neo!Kaien vs Aaronerio!Kaien would be a delicious match-up and great character exploration.
Nepenthe was inspired by Cywscross' Swinging Pendulum (but really, what Bleach Time-travel story isn't these days?) - but I wanted to take all the usual time-travel clichés attached to Ichigo and play them completely straight. Rather than pretending, Ichigo does legitimately have amnesia. Rather than hiding his power, Ichigo was injured in such a way that he needs to regain his powers the old fashioned way. Effectively, I dumped him in the past with a clean slate and I look forward to seeing how he adapts to living with and as a Shiba.
But to answer your question: So, how long do you planned to write your works?
For as long as people keep reading and commenting on it, I suppose. :)
There's a criminal lack of Kaien content. I aim to rectify this.

i think with the information were given by the reports, we can figure out what Joshua may have been doing in the 3 years leading up to neo
i think the key lies in this specific part of neo’s reports
neo’s game resembles that of the game 3 years ago, though most specifically being point 2. The absence of the Composer
these are the circumstances of the game in the og reports. Notably, the only difference in circumstances being the mention of the Composers limitation of abilities (which is implied by his absence), and direct interference by the Executor.
As noted in both reports, Joshua is not allowed to interfere in the goings-on of the UG. To further prevent any potential meddling on his part, the Composer is required to leave the UG. As hes likely unable to/not allowed to tune into the frequency of the Higher Plane, and its specifically mentioned that he travels from the UG to the RG in the og reports, this means Joshua is residing in the RG while the Game is ongoing in neo.
Theres 3 points to address about this situation:
The limitation of his abilities, and what this might have to do with his appearance
The consequences his absence has on the UG
What he may have done in the 3 years the game was ongoing
First we should brush up on what his abilities actually entail
Usually, he can at least somewhat see the future. This ability is entirely absent when in the RG, he can draw conclusions about what might happen based on observations, but he cant predict the exact outcome. Note that this ability is specifically limited when hes downtuned. So when he looks like a normal guy and not a glowing blur in the shape of a person. Meaning that when he actually appears in the UG at the end of neo, he still cant see the future, and doesnt know whats going to happen.
As for the matter of his appearance, Reapers dont age. As seen in the ntwewy official guidebook, the reapers in og twewy are the same age as they are in neo. Sho is still 18, kariya is still 19, uzuki is still 17, etc. it doesn’t make sense for Reapers, who are so far beneath the Composer, not to age, but the Composer for some reason does?
BUT Joshuas been physically in the RG for the past 3 years, so its possible that that is the reason he aged. Post-neo he can stay in the UG again, so its possible hes going to remain physically 18 when he downtunes now. Think of it as like, time passes and causes his body to age as anyone else in the RG, but time stops in the UG, because it’s the “dead zone”
the reason neku aged while in Shinjuku is because Shinjuku is neither in the UG or the RG, it is in its own plane of existence. That plane just so happened to have time that passes, which lets you age like the RG would. (this might also be partially the reason why Coco is 19 of all ages in neo, even though she looks middle school aged in A New Day, 3 years ago. With her occasionally popping in for who-knows-how-long into Shinjuku to visit neku, she aged the amount of time she spent there most likely)
Anyway, it does not make sense for joshua to be able to choose what age he appears as when he downtunes. The reports specifically say he looks younger when he downtunes, and that its fortunate this prevents him from being recognized by reapers. Meaning that this is more of a happy accident and not purposeful in the slightest.
i know that one guidebook comment by Nomura has him state Joshuas appearance was to match Neku in appearance, but this was likely a design choice and not a willful decision by Joshua himself. You can interpret it however you like, but nothing in-canon ever points to Joshua being able to control his appearance when he downtunes, ever
Next up are the consequences of joshuas absence in the UG.
The Composer is the one who writes and changes the rules of the UG. Considering that in neo, the rules of the game were very much rewritten to match those of Shinjuku, it seems theres uh. Something kinda unlawful going on there. Which ill touch on in a moment, but first, more importantly, with joshuas absence in the UG and residing in the RG instead, the UG has been functionally without a Composer for 3 years, and therefore his established rules made invalid.
This should mean the UG should collapse, i mean, in og twewy he was only able to be absent for 3 weeks before the UG started to get somewhat unstable already. So theres no way the UG would be able to hold up without a Composer for 3 years……. unless?
An emergency call.
With Uzuki being made temporary Conductor and Game Master (neo uses these two terms interchangeably, for some reason) post-og twewy, she likely upheld Joshuas UG rules until Shiba usurped her. With Shiba being directly influenced by Kubo, he likely seized control over the UG instantly by issuing an Emergency call, which suspended Joshuas rules and gave complete authority to Shiba. Thus Shiba was able to completely rewrite the UG’s rules as if he were the Composer.
Small things such as the new appearance of the walls put up by wall reapers (now black thorns, and not just transparent walls), the new decals being two sets of poorly scribbled skulls, and the new Reaper Skull and its pins, all point to having been designed by Shiba, and then made by Kubo.
With Joshua not being allowed to intervene in the UG while his game with Kubo was ongoing, he also cannot ask his Producer to make pins, decals, etc. (especially since Hanekoma is also forbidden from intervening). That means Shiba wasn’t able to contact him to do it, either (or even knows he exists).
Hanekoma notes that as an Angel, Kubo is able to prepare special pins at will, so its likely this also extends to more than just pins.
Funnily enough this also means Shiba never even met Joshua despite being Shibuyas Conductor.
Though Joshua most likely wouldnt be allowed to even interact with his opponent’s proxy in the first place, its also hilarious to think Kubo never told Shiba about a Conductors responsibility to the Composer, or that its unusual the Composer never contacted him to contact the Reapers.
So, Joshua wasn’t exactly able to interject to the changes to his rules. His authority was literally overwritten by an emergency call due to his mandatory absence because of his game. (crappy loophole if u ask me)
Then what was Joshua doing for 3 years?
Staying in the RG in some way or form.
But most importantly, he mustve interacted with Beat, Rhyme, and Shiki for a significant amount of his stay.
the fact that Shiki refers to him as “Josh” points to her having gotten to know him well enough to refer to him as that nickname, especially since she never even met him in og twewy, and was only told about him by Neku.
in this same scene in jp, Beat calls him by his actual name “Joshua”, which is also notable for Beat, since he didnt even remember uzuki’s or kariya’s names after 3 years, and referred to joshua by a nickname when he was hounding him and neku during week 2 as a reaper in og twewy. which once again points to Beat having gotten to know him well enough to actually use his first name.
Theres also the matter of Beat, Rhyme and Shiki living outside of Shibuya.
we know that Beat and Rhyme must have lived near Miyashita Park in og twewy, because their accident happens by the Miyashita Park Underpass after Beat storms out after an argument with their parents. but in neo, Rhyme has to get to shibuya via train, and Beat tells her to go home and away from shibuya to stay safe, which means they mustve moved away from Shibuya sometime during these 3 years.
its likely Joshua may have a hand in them moving away (possibly because he mightve wanted to at least make sure Neku’s friends were safe from his game’s consequences after he returned Neku to the RG)
their move away from shibuya is significant because shiki is often away from shibuya as well. which notably means that all of nekus friends are safe from shibuyas potential destruction if joshua were to lose his game (again)
Shiki is often away from shibuya due to work, and while she does ardently pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion designer, this decision was likely encouraged by Joshua as well. though shiki does occasionally return to wait by hachiko for Neku, she might also have visited Joshua too. two birds one stone. or joshua bothered her whenever she was by hachiko, and eventually formed a friendship, which then extended to beat and rhyme.
this would also explain why Beat never suggests looking for the Composer in neo, because he knows Joshuas stuck in the RG and cant intervene.
as to why joshua doesnt intervene even though he was So eager to do so in og twewy... we dont know. in the reports, hanekoma suggests that it mightve been to teach shibuya a lesson about responsibility, but thats. kinda stupid honestly. i imagine the real reason might be tied to the Higher Plane and its politics, especially since Hanekoma mentions that the reason Hazuki intervened mightve been to bait Joshua into acting. which is weird on all accounts, since haz looks up to joshua as his senior and tells him he intervened to earn his forgiveness. so why hanekoma even got this impression might be related to him being in the Higher Plane and thus knowing more about the tension related to Joshua and his actions amongst the angels.
anyway, this concludes my case
#ntwewy spoilers#neo the world ends with you#neo twewy#twewy meta#underground and realground#joshua kiryu#vampymori.txt#i dont have any funky tags to add this round i rly said all there is to say abt the topic at this current time#i Sincerely believe its the case that joshua became friends with beat rhyme and shiki over the 3 years leading up to neo#and im Especially interested in exploring the potential bitterness neku might feel @ joshua for having gotten to know HIS friends#for longer and possibly even more closely than neku was able to before he was shot and sent to the UG again#especially since joshua was the one who sent him away for so long in the first place even if it was done for his own safety#i just really really love. the concept of joshua being good friends with beat and shiki#and neku hearing them know things abt joshua that HE doesnt even know#and hearing joshua know things about beat n shiki that HE doesnt know. even though he SHOULD because theyre HIS friends#LIKE!!! THE SPICE. THE BITTERNESS. THE GUILT OF FEELING THAT WAY.#not like neku would be miserable for long bc beat would NOT let this happen. hes going to cheer his homie up stat#but mmmm tension... guilt... consequences...

Rukia’s Feelings
Let's discuss feelings in Bleach because there's a lot of double standards here and it hurts me to watch people think they've "debunked" arguments but they only told a vague fairy tale. That's why I'm saying that Rukia had fallen in love earlier than you think. In fact I would even say that she fell in love before Orihime. Orihime may have had a crush on Ichigo first, but she never said “love” until the arrancar saga.
Rukia fell in love first. In fact there's textual evidence for this. We all know this iconic scene. Kubo was never into romantic tales, however he wouldn't pull this BS out of his ass for shits and giggles. He's not that kind of writer. Every scene has purpose! Stop the disrespect!
This scene isn't meant for fanservice. It's meant for setting up motive. Why does Rukia want to leave?
Before I answer that. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is what literary analysis calls DRAMATIC IRONY. In which the audience knows something that characters might not know. For example like when we know Isshin is a Shinigami, but Ichigo doesn't know. We know Rukia's true feelings but Ichigo and other people don't because they obviously can't read her inner monologue. Ichigo can't read her motives until her tears tell him the truth. Now to answer the original question above. She left because she was afraid that if she stayed any longer in the living world, her already developing feelings would make it harder to leave later on. She needed to get out of Ichigo's proximity so that her attachment can't be used as leverage or puts him in danger. After all it was her emotional attachment to Kaien that allows her to identify every emotion that she's feeling at this moment in the story. She doesn't want to bring Ichigo the same demise as Kaien. It's because of her emotions that Kaien's death hit her so hard. Without emotions and that attachment to Kaien, it would have been just another death in the Soul Society. Why is this important? Because Rukia's trying to learn from her past. Ichigo's stubbornness messes up her plan, but it's also what ends up saving them in the long term. She runs away with the hope of forgetting all of her experiences with Ichigo. Ichigo did the same thing Kaien did with Rukia in the 13th division. Ichigo didn't make her feel alone or like an outcast. They both treated her the way she always hoped people would treat her. With respect, and as an equal. She never wanted to be put down nor be put on a pedestal because of her last name. Or because of her rank. But everyone did, even her future husband. The only two people who canonically didn’t was Ichigo and his cousin. Rukia just has a weak side for men like that. Rukia has a type unlike Orihime. We know why she loves Ichigo, but there's no clear reason as to why Orihime does. It's very broad, and not narrowed down to a specific reason. Which makes her crush easy to attack with no actual solid defense. I can tell you EXACTLY where Ichigo and Rukia's relationship changed from salty coworkers to immediately more than friends. I've reread Bleach multiple time, and have yet to see the exact moment where Ichigo and Orihime's feelings change. Most of it looks like it's offscreen.
Just so no one gets confused. I'm referring to this scene. This was where Ichigo and Rukia's relationship could never go back to being coworkers and friends.
Anyways, people like to argue that Orihime is the one that likes him so she is guaranteed that "happy" ending. I call BS because Nel and Riruka had just as much infatuation with our protagonist, but all I see is them getting the short end of the stick. Orihime IS NOT SPECIAL. But Rukia IS special. This woman "COINCIDENTALLY" has a paralleled past to our protagonist. She "COINCIDENTALLY" spent Ichigo's entire past arc as his only form of foundation and support. And she "COINCIDENTALLY" is the one to be asked about HER feelings because she's not as open about her emotions, since she's a SHINIGAMI. Shinigami have LITERALLY been taught to not be emotional. Duty before love. Rukia's characterization and occupation don’t allow her to confess straight up. Orihime has the privilege of no limitations. Rukia isn't as lucky! Why the hell would Kubo emphasize this so much for it be a fecking dead end?!
But that's why Rukia's confession is in the form of denial. Because in order to keep her IN CHARACTER, Kubo needs to write a confession that sounds like Rukia. He must emphasize how strong her feelings are. They are so strong that they overcome her usual stoicism, sternness.
Byakuya himself knew that Rukia only showed this much emotion towards Kaien. That's why he concluded that there's something special about Ichigo. He has identified the pattern.
All of this had purpose. I refuse to believe it was all for nothing. This scene was a confession, and just a sad reminder that unfortunately Ichigo and Rukia's ending was always on a tight rope. He put too much effort into their relationship. He put a freakish amount of effort into their relationship. And honestly this makes the story make more sense, in my opinion. Think about it like this. If Rukia was not in love in this scene then it wouldn’t be as memorable in the Ichiruki fandom. And Rukia would be a completely different character. By Rukia already having feelings they stimulate Ichigo into finding out his own feelings (which is in the Lost Agent Arc). And it makes sense because Rukia might fall easier, but she’s more passive when it comes to answering to her desires. Just look back at her past with Kaien, and her reaction towards his wife. She’s not the type to pursue feelings. But Ichigo is more aggressive than her. But he’s more dense as well. Ichigo is the type to initiate the relationship, but he has to be aware of it. How can you be aware of it if your dense? I mean the fact that Ichigo is dense about Orihime’s blatant feelings can’t be a coincidence. For me, it almost seems like Ichigo is dense, not because he’s not meant to see Orihime’s feelings, but because it makes it harder for him to identify his own feelings for a certain person (personally I thought and still think that it’s supposed to be Rukia). It delays endgames, and allows for more satisfying development. However, this could just be my optimism speaking, but I don't think Kubo is stupid. But that time frame for TYBW was ridiculous and I truly believe it was a factor in their final decisions. But I might be blinded by my optimism. Well anyway, this was another piece of analysis. Just want to call out some hypocrites. I'm right now putting on the table that Rukia arguably has just as much feelings for Ichigo. So the argument that Orihime is "obligated" to Ichigo's love is too vague. It's a horrible argument, but I'm always open to discussion. Respectfully of course. But then again this is social media so...
My next analysis is probably going to be on this gorgeous scene. I'm just going to explain its significance and what makes it an irrefutable Ichigo and Rukia moment. Please look forward to that! Thank you to everyone that read this far. Have a wonderful day!
Also no hate on Renji and Orihime. I know Renji thought he had good intentions, but if he's so special then he should have been able to fix it before 40 years of no interactions. And Orihime is a sweetie, but her unrealistic look on life is just too polar to my look on life. I'm a realist. I can't get behind that especially when she basically gets everything handed to her without much consequence. Reality would have hit normal women in the face if they were in Orihime's position. To me that's not a good message to teach to anyone.
Anyway thanks for reading! Love y’all!

(,,,,hollow rant plz?)
Oh you, how cna I saw no to that cute face and cool sunglasses?
Alright, I’m copy/pasting from ym rant on Twitter so bear with me here.
This the time of day where I go Pepe Silvia Mode and talk about how being born with Hollow powers and how well-attuned you are to them is tied to how close you are to your negative emotions.
I'm putting the disclaimer in that this IS a comparison of Ichigo and Kugo. Vizards are not included in this; they were given Hollow abilities, they weren't BORN with them. Also keep your Ginjo hate off my post, we only come after Kubo.
I'm sweeping aside the rebuttal of 'Kugo's bankai and Hollow powers are from stealing Ichigo's powers, though!' SHUSHUP, FULLBRINGERS ARE FULLBRINGERS BECAUSE THEY INHERITED HOLLOW POWERS, KUGO HAD THEM FROM BIRTH.
RANT AHEAD
pictures and gifs ahoy, because they make my rambling less walls of text
Okay, second off from the get-go of unleashing his bankai, Kugo is better adjusted to being partially Hollowed than Ichigo has EVER been in the whole series. He can even fire off a near-perfect cero, which Ichigo was shown pre-TYBW only being able to do when he lost control of his Hollow form. Getsugas do not count.
Now how does this tie into your emotional state?? What do Hollows have to do with feeling shitty??? EVERYTHING, actually. Hollows themselves are ghosts who got bogged down with a chain of fate due to regrets and the mire time went on where a Soul Reaper didn't help them to pass on, the more they ended up festering in these regrets/hatred until a hole opened up in their chest and they became a Hollow. So now these entities have to go around devouring positive ghosts and living people to 'fill the void'.
So why does this bit of info have anything to do with Kugo and Ichigo??? Again, it has EVERYTHING to do with this theory.
So I'm starting off with Ichigo to show what NOT being in-sync with your Hollow powers nor your negative emotions looks like. So it's obvious af, but Ichigo has no sense of self-preservation and he doesn't know how to NOT be selfless. He's pretty much grown up and been raised that he should live his life helping and protecting other people...
Holy shit, I just realized the parallels between Ichigo and Shirou Emiya...
But yes, Ichigo goes out of his way to NOT take care of himself out of the interest of taling care of others (even ghosts), and it's made worse when he becomes a Soul Reaper, because Ichigo doesn't KNOW any better and he's told he's helping people somehow by becoming Soul Society's chore boy. Ichigo never sits down to look at himself or question his life; its like he's been told that being angry, sad, to grieve or to be self-centered at ALL is bad??
And then Shirosaki (YES HIS HOLLOW PART, THAT'S WHY I BRING HIM UP WE LOVE THIS KID FOR THIS CONVERSATION) really reflects that by openly shitting on Ichigo for constantly getting fucked over.
Ichigo would rather pretend that everything is fine with him and just 'forget' the bad shit he's been through instead of reflecting on it, accept it, and grow from it. And frankly, Soul Society never gives him the time TO actually process his trauma and grief, it's one shitstorm after another. plus if you let your indentured servant think about their oppression for too long they will revolt HAHAHAHAHAHA fuck soulsoc
So what does this do when Ichigo finally hits his breaking point...? When he can't pretend his overflowing problems don't exist anymore and the weight of the world isn't as light as you've been pretending its been?
...Suppression has its limits, and it can very easily turn you into an unhinged monster once that pain and frustration finally rears it’s ugly head out of the water.
Now I'm gonna shift my focus over to Kugo Ginjo. Canon established to us that he was a Fullbringer before he was a Substitute Soul Reaper and then presumably he lost his Soul Reaper power rights before/during the Soul Society betrayal.
It's... super unclear and never touched on whether or not he had a zanpakuto WITH a name or if he was borrowing another Soul Reaper's powers like Ichigo was with Rukia's powers, all we see is that one snippet of him IN a shihakusho when he finds and takes in baby Tsukishima.
If I had to guess, Kugo never got the chance to test out a potential bankai, let alone fuck with his Hollow aspect, but taking Ichigo's powers might have been like an X-men Rogue thing where he figured out how Ichigo calls on Shirosaki THROUGH that.
But that's the kicker, even if he never DID use it before, Kugo has P E R F E C T control of his Hollow abilities.
That cero??? First try??? Right when Kugo was having a moment of intense negative emotions???
HM.
So the past however-fuck-odd years since Soul Society betrayed the original Xcution, Kugo has VERY UNDERSTANDABLY been fucking pissed and stewing in hatred and grief. The way we see him before and after Tsukishima alters his memories, it looks like Kugo has def gone off the deep end and become a completely unsympathetic douchebag as a side effect of all these years of spite. Sucks!
But that's exactly why I think that his powers in a more Hollow-like form serve him better. He doesn't crack or teeter on losing control like Ichigo does; he doesn't even seem to be unsure of how to use his abilities (for the 1000th time, perfect cero).
Now I'm not sure if Kugo has an inner Hollow persona like Ichigo does with Shirosaki since Shirosaki was a special case, but if he DID I wouldn't doubt that they would understand each other if not get along; both probably agreeing on the notion of 'get revenge, don't d¡e until you win'...
unlike Ichigo and Shirosaki, who never fucking agree on anything and always have to compromise with each other.
If I'm gonna get fakedeep, I'll say that Hollow powers is a metaphor for trauma and the rightful regret and anger that should accompany it, and that's what makes Ichigo and Kugo's relationship with their respective 'Hollows' so different.
Ichigo chooses to suppress if not discard the regret and anger of his traumas because he's concerned about keeping everyone else happy and holding everything else together. Even though stepping back to say 'fuck you' and separate himself from the people who hurt him would serve HIM for the better, Ichigo chooses to forgive anyone and open himself back up.
Kugo is the opposite end of that spectrum: In the end, he used his trauma and pain to hurt uninvolved and innocent people and project his problems onto others. He's VERY tuned into his negative emotions to the point that he utilizes it to suit his needs, but in a bad way.
In conclusion:
Please read the manga. Specifically please read the Fullbring arc. And when you finish, come to me to roast it with me.

eight months in somebody actually asked me abt visualive instead of me immediately annoying ppl about it without former notice. I might actually write properly for once 😳😳😳
OK OK!!!!! In this essay I will.... I will.... Visualive Adachi.... Visu/BURSTS INTO TEARS/
OKAY OKAY for real I just care Visualive so much (as someone who can’t fully understand Japanese AHAHA)
First I’ll add some foundation about what Visualive really is, then I talk abt Adachi in the latter parts of it because this is technically the first time I’m properly talking about this hehe 🐿
T....table of contents???
Visualive
Visualive the Evolution
Masami Itou
Visualive Adachi
Visualive the Evolution Adachi
Terms and Legend
VL - Visualive
VLE - Visualive the Evolution
stage - shortened for “stageplay”
面白い - omoshiroi (it’s just that specific)
Yuuya - VL Hero name
Hayato - VLE Hero name
Baba - Hero
Masami - Adachi
Taniguchi - Dojima
Saotome - Daisuke
Mamiya - Izanami
I add honorifics but sometimes I forget the hyphen intentionally or unintentionally I’m sorry if it makes it hard to read lol
all links have automatic timestamps for easy viewing. i mean. i hope the timestamps work
VISUALIVE “Persona 4.” A stage adaptation of SMT: Persona 4 by Atlus. It adapts the first part of the story, from the hero’s arrival to after recovering Mitsuo Kubo from the TV world. It also ends on a cliff hanger, showing a teaser of Shadow Naoto being projected on the screen.
It takes up a speedy recapitulation of the hero’s spring life, before slowing down and showing in depth his school life in summer. A day before Morooka-sensei’s death, there is a little skit with Kou, Daisuke and Adachi. The hero walks into the conversation before the two other boys leaving, and Morooka-sensei walking in on the student and detective. The next day follow’s the teacher’s death and the Investigation Team (IT) begin investigating their new lead.
From the words “visual” and “alive,” the niche of this stage was meant to be the fusion of live acting and visual digital projections. All seen from the stageplay with the colorful cast of actors and CG animations being projected on the screen. This offers an opportunity for characters to summon their personas, perform cool visual effects, change the backdrop, or even confront their own Shadows.
Performed in Sunshine Theater from the 15th to the 20th of March 2012. The screenplay was written and directed by Shintaro Asanuma from the theatrical group “bpm.” The video production produced by Shutaro Oku, a film director and visual planner. He later takes over as director for VISUALIVE THE EVOLUTION, the sequel stage. The stage music was produced by Shunsuke Wada, with a special show exclusive vocal track sung by Shihoko Hirata.
On this note, I haven’t seen any sort of original soundtrack released for any of the stages and I’m SO SAD. The last song in Mitsuo’s boss fight was such a BANGER and literally EVERYTHING ELSE Marvelous, Wadasan please take my MONEY
Regarding the cast, there were some special accommodations for Teddie, Rise, and Nanako, all of which did not have live actors at the time. During the casting, actors for the three characters could not be found or simply left the directors unsatisfied they couldn’t cast anybody. An exception for Rise, who was able to have a live actor in the sequel stage. It has been stated that there weren’t any “pretty boy” actors that fit the “Teddie Criteria.” While there weren’t any child actors that were believed to portray Nanako well.
Teddie was only ever seen in his bear costume while Rise was busy talking through a call, all voiced by their video game cast. Nanako has never appeared on stage, only being scarcely mentioned in the script. Again, this is different in the sequel stage where her role was extremely important and was shown as a screen projection.
VISUALIVE “Persona 4” THE EVOLUTION. A sequel stage. Beginning abruptly in the middle of Shadow Naoto’s boss fight, the story continues from there until the “true end” of the game’s original story. *Certain characters are introduced while others have been reintroduced. And on a personal note, when it’s all comedic in the beginning, it’s all for what’s coming right after.
I don’t know if I’m salty or just find it really funny AHAHA I might go talk abt it some other day with more context ehehe
Performed in The Galaxy Theater from the 3rd to the 9th of October 2012, only a few months after the PSVITA Persona 4 Golden release, which is July 2012. The screenplay was now written by Jun Kumagi while directed by Shutaro Oku. And music production finally taken over by Shoji Meguro himself.
---
HAHAHA this is starting to look like a wiki page. moving on. I might start rambling rn
(warning LONG !!!! aaa,,)
My thoughts on the stage adaptations. For the first Visualive (VL) I believe it’s pretty close to canon! I enjoy the characterization and how much love and care was present when handling the entire production.
Actors were busy playing the game itself, wherein a PS2 was present in the practice room. Along with magazines and game guides explaining the game’s story and the characters itself. Actors performing together and even improv acting together to get a grasp of their characters. All of them knowing well of Persona 4 as a well loved game, delicately handling their characters and hopefully performing them right while making the audience happy.
The staff taking care of each other while the director and video producer, Asanuma-san and Oku-san, working together well to make their vision into a reality.
The same thing happened with VL the Evolution (VLE) and literally every other good stage. Except... I feel the script kinda got out of hand with too much liberty where it feels a bit more disconnected from canon. But! It makes up for it in its content, whether comedic or (INCREDIBLY) dramatic! It’s great as its own story at that point. So in this case, I like to take the first VL and get to connect it canon, while I don’t know what the hell happened in VLE to the point I’ll just enjoy it as its own content.
These opinions deserve its own essay, post whatever bc I have SO much to say abt this. ANYWAY. VL ADACHI
---
Tohru Adachi is portrayed by Masami Itou (伊藤マサミ), a screenplay writer, director and an stage actor himself. He does have a single character voice role along with a fellow troupe member in the same franchise, but mostly works as the former three. He is part of Asanuma-san’s entertainment group “bpm.” On a similar note, Masashi Taniguchi, Dojima’s actor, was also part of their group from 2011 to 2016, which may explain their good synergy as the boss and the bumbling fool dynamic. I mean, somebody’s gotta get hit in the head every few skits.
With Masami-san being an important part of the cast, he doesn’t appear as often as Taniguchi-san in backstage content like the VL bonus disk or the official blog. Mentioned in his own personal blog, he had been busy with his roles as assistant director (I am assuming also for VL).
Also fun to note, because his role is mainly comic relief, he has been using his liberty to change up the material almost everyday making each performance exciting. This also leaves some other actors jealous of his freedom in his role, such as Saotome-san, Daisuke’s actor.
---
VL Adachi really has a... how do I say this? an adorable speech pattern (THE SAME SPEECH PATTERN THAT DROVE ME MAD TRYING TO DECIPHER I THOUGHT YOU WERE A CITY BOY OSSU OSSU MY ASS /shakes you violently/). Overall, he really fits the loose lipped bumbling fool, and his accent really makes him seem more casual and invested. What I’m saying is... VL Adachi either actually has genuine empathy or he actually has more energy to fake it (compared to some other edgelord. i mean you saw my p4ga analysis. I’m sick of him lol ahaha).
One of my favorite ways to explain this (OTHER THAN CHAIR CAR ADVENTURE MY BELOVED WE’LL GET TO THAT LATER) is the rice field scene with him and Dojima. It’s overanalyzation time 🎉
youtube
(43:04)
While investigating, Adachi whines about being tired while Dojima smacks him in the head. In this case, it’s established that Adachi doesn’t want to be there, yes? It’s the country, it’s hot and it smells like green.
"Ah... Dojima-san..! Why don't we take a break? (...) There really is nothing out here... Is the criminal still even here at all? (...) I wonder if I've passed being a rookie yet. Haha, but this city doesn't even have convenient transportation. I can't go to leisure lands (recreation, amusement parks, arcades, ect.) and head home at all."
Adachi then tries to tell Dojima a story. “when I got to this city after being newly assigned, I met an interesting guy (...) Yeah, I remember that the cherry blossoms haven't bloomed yet. So, I was driving my car and got near the station and--” Dojima gets a phone call.
Adachi politely puts his hands down waiting for his boss to finish so he can finish the story. Again and again, Adachi attempts to talk to Dojima about a story he’s so persistent trying to tell someone about. It was so 面白い that he would find someone to talk to about it. Even being polite and patient enough to wait for a chance to speak. He even gets fed up with it and blows up in front of his boss, clearly irritated he’s not given a chance to talk.
Sure, it could be Adachi feeling fed up like a normal person where someone agreed he to listen to him, before being constantly ignored. Or Adachi trying to be a more annoying whiny brat, depending on where you look at it.
If the story wasn’t too “interesting” to Adachi, he would’ve just brushed it off and stopped talking to Dojima entirely, or start up new small talk, or even complain some more. But no, he had a story he wanted to voice out so bad that he got irritated that the one person in the vicinity couldn’t listen to him.
Only after Dojima told him to continue their investigation elsewhere did Adachi finally stop and focus on something else. Maybe that story was for another day, or maybe it was never meant to be told.
What if it was just original (game) Adachi? He’d find a way to squirrel out of the investigation as usual, or push Dojima to “investigate” elsewhere. “Hey boss, don’t you think it’s hot? Why don’t we go elsewhere? We’ve seen this place too many times to count and I doubt anything new’ll turn up. How about we take a break at Junes, y’know? Where it’s cool? C’mon boss,” something like that.
og Adachi is just really annoying and silly to me. Some grown man thinking he can freeload because he never gets anything out of putting in more energy and effort? I don’t care how tall he is, I will smack him in the head.
Yeah VL Adachi whines, too, but at least it doesn’t look like he’s going to escape and waste his time somewhere else. He just sucks it up stops trying to leave the situation.
Or maybe I’m getting this all wrong and VL is exactly the same and my rage just gets dampened because of Masamisan’s execution of character hmm...
SO. What was his story about anyway? The one he really wanted to share to Dojima?
I mean... it’s obvious enough
youtube
First day in town? Spring? Actually mentioned driving a car when literally out of every single persona 4 media at the time was there not a SINGLE mention of Adachi having a car OTHER THAN the same stageplay it’s being mentioned in?
A story, from somewhere around uhh four? five months ago? was something that he remembered so dearly and was willing to share despite it obviously embarrassing him even if he puts the blame on a certain somebody in the same story?
Or maybe it’s because he really had nothing to talk about ever since he realized all his stories from the city weren’t actually that funny or interesting in the first place.
BUT then that would mean out of all the things he could talk about—more whining, complaining, complimenting, small talk—he insisted about talking about this story in particular.
Okay, look. I’m just. Just. As someone who talks too much, of course I have things I actually want people to hear out of all the bullshit that comes out of my mouth. And if the thing I actually want people to listen to doesn’t even get heard, I’d go mad.
Sure, Adachi’d be fine when his complaints or intentionally unfunny jokes get brushed off. But a story of a guy that he thought was so funny, interesting, 面白い gets ignored, he really blew up, even just for a split second, maybe.
And ALL the things that happened in that story—on his first day in Inaba! His car got dented, he had to deal with a weirdo dumbass employee that knew zero personal space, yelled in his ear, who didn’t know how to do their job, got his station reputation messed up on the first day, got his ass grabbed, got (unintentionally?) mocked for his lame stories, and got his car dented for the SECOND time. Probably MORE
And he STILL wanted to talk about it /punches through concrete wall/
yes I’m overthinking about this of course i am
This little tidbit of VL Adachi kinda makes me go insane sometimes—his entire characterization in VL in particular. It was really refreshing to see and how they included both of his characters in it, his facade and how irritated he is of a lot of things underneath. And how flexible his character is immediately working with other characters when there’s sudden improv to balance the situation. Like him and Dojima, Morooka, the attendant, or even Yuuya (hero) himself.
I’ll take Taniguchi-san’s messing around in the VL bonus backstage disc in place of Masami-san being so busy he couldn’t appear in it as often as other characters.
For stagetime that lasted for fifteen minutes or less, my appreciation for VL Adachi, even if he was just comic relief, really rocketed. I say VL, bc Adachi the edgelord he’s supposed to be in literally every other media is something I analyze separately.
I haven’t even gotten to VLE oh my GODDDDD
Like I said, I don’t really regard VLE close to canon but as something to be appreciated for what it is by itself. But the way Adachi was characterized there, in or out of character, still struck me.
---
Yes, there was his strange fan-agreed-canon which is,,, now canon obsession with cabbages (not that that’s a bad thing lmao). There was also him being a lot more jumpy and intimate in a clowny way, patting people on the shoulder or even downright hugging them just to mess around. Even FORGETTING who the same goddam loser who grabbed his ass almost a year ago is. But like, can’t blame him they literally changed their actor (and screenplay writer) AHAHAHA
ha... no more comedy, only dorky sword fights now
(speaking of sword fights I think it’s a fun thought how Mamiya-san [Izanami, also one of the youngest in the cast] admitted it was his first time doing sword fight choreography and even thanked Masami-san and other staff members for guiding him)
One thing unintentionally in character was Adachi accidentally nabbing the sushi overdosed in wasabi. Masami-san didn’t actually account for a joke sushi and didn’t immediately eat it—until Taniguchi-san (who also made Dojima go off his shits compared to VL) jokingly yelled at him and even riled up the audience for him to eat it. He even went off stage to get water just for him to eat the goddam sushi.
And Masami-san did! (kinda choked, but he’s fine).
Continuing from the same scene, while being overly giddy about sushi dinner (and I mean overly--he was singing about it while hopping to the Dojima residence), he tried to remind the two, Dojima and Hayato (hero), that Nanako was sleeping. Probably where she was sick if the scene was translated from the game.
youtube
(30:07)
And... the dramatic parts of VLE
Adachi was the one who reported to the IT that Dojima was chasing Namatame in the rain. While Naoto was discussing Namatame’s journal entries, Adachi, as giddy as he is, took it from Naoto’s hands and reveled in the discovery of evidence so childishly(?). He even ran to Dojima when he began regaining consciousness and immediately called the nurses to help him wheel Dojima to the ER.
Then, The Hospital Scene™️, right after Nanako flatlines.
youtube
(1:02:02)
Adachi, who recently walked into the scene, immediately worries about Dojima and IT who were ALL crying. He looks down, devastated—before yelling how Dojima’s heading to Namatame’s room.
He yells in terror and the same grief at his injured boss, all while running past and even jumping over children, who fell to the ground sobbing, to get to him. He continues yelling in a pained fashion while immediately reprimanding Dojima to stop. He gets carried by the collar before being tossed to the ground at Hayato’s feet, all while being pat by the same boy.
Dojima makes his speech about how unfair it is for the ‘killer’ to be alive when his daughter isn’t. When he finally falls to his knees, Adachi rises from the ground, humbly saying he’ll do his best to take care of Dojima (or something like that I’m in tears I literally can’t do VLE’s hospital scene i h8 this). He finally starts crying along with everyone else, being pushed away again but still tries again, trying to usher his boss away from the door.
With the help of the guard in front of the door, they all disappear off stage
please... I know this scene doesn’t need that much translation because of how important this scene is in the entire story. and I know my narratives aren’t enough so just,,,, just watch it please it’s so much more than this. everyone’s acting was just spectacular
youtube
(1:08:47)
So, after the IT (YOSUKE. JUST YOSUKE. good job Mae-chan) stop themselves from k wording Namatame, it was ADACHI who reported Nanako’s miracle recovery. He ran to the same corridor where they all cried in, even panting and falling to the ground in relief trying to report the good news. Then he pats Hayato on the shoulder and says he’s going to Dojima.
With this... /slaps roof of half of VLE/ ALL of this....adachi.... adachisan.... he Cares™️..... holy shit.....
now. comparing to the game. do you even remember what og Adachi did? did he.. even do anything?????
youtube
(56:39)
NO!!! he just stood there!!!! being a bumbling fool but.... inappropriately!!! man. he didn’t act concerned enough.
adachi: /walks into a bunch of kids crying outside a hospital room/ “lmao why tf are y’all crying? did uhhh what’s her face uhhh nanako. did she d word or something? rip, I guess lol” LIKE????? CAN YOU IMPLY FASTER
and then he’s like “wgat hmm Where’s Dojima-san Heading Because That’s Not The Way To His Room 🤔” and only when he’s asked he actually mentions he’s heading to Namatame’s room and still needs to get choked by a first year for the room number like..... zero consideration
and his boss??? where his daughter he loves so much just??? di*s???? and he’s so devastated he’s doing what he can that very moment while he’s so numbed of thinking of the consequences???? And adachi goes “uhh boss that’s illegal” LIKE. BITCH. /punches through a concrete wall but harder/
---
And??? His confrontation scene??? Like, I know they mashed it up w his tv confession scene to save stagetime for other scenes BUT IT WAS SO MMBMBMBMMGN /gestures in a good way/
youtube
(1:15:56)
UM?? guy behind everything??? in a vulnerable area where he could easily get physically assaulted bc hes not in the tv world w his persona?? Trash talks women like he absolute misogynist he is??? getting yelled at by a bunch of kids and YELLING BACK IN THE SAME AGITATED MANNER even TAUNTING THEM then and there to GET HIS ASS?????
og Adachi was such a pussy he got caught and just scurried off into the TV world where he ended up having powers like...ok....scared of getting beat down by a bunch of highschoolers unless you have powers...ok....
he only taunted them to get him when he was in the tv world too.....he rlly couldn’t say shit in the real world huh... lol
(yeah yeah this shows how VLE Adachi knew abt his TV world powers which would make you think if he ever went into the tv world and came back out alive. Or he’s really just a badass who doesnt give a shit abt anyone’s opinions and CAN beat anyone’s ass. i have a separate thing abt this but bc i like to laught at vle rather than overthink its own lore i might. not. idk lol)
and ??? VLE Adachi can??? He can swordfight??? he doesn’t even NEED a gun—he even reflects bullets w his blade (but apparently he can still get slapped by a flying fan more often than any other attack). His fight choreo was just...so poggers. He’s like short villains done good—like??? he’s short compared to everyone else!!! but he makes up for it for stuffing all the energy inside him while is bursts out making him him the over energetic gremlin he is!!! go VL adachi!!!!
(am I low key making fun of Madono-san in the TUUSH stageplay I’ve seen four minutes of? maybe)
OK!!! Yes I was gushing abt Masami-san again back to Adachi.
It’s portrayed that while not being afraid to admit his crimes, he also goes out of his way to be a bastard and have the gall to get a bunch of kids to fight him, one on eight. He can use a katana, probably a narrative dark reflection of the hero, Hayato which I thought was nice—and he can fight!!! It also shows his persona, yes, but...it doesn’t make it clear if he’s overwhelmed by his Shadow like in the game, where his eyes were yellow and he was emitting a dark aura.
But it gets interesting how he sees he’s getting overwhelmed and starting to lose his edge towards a bunch of kids. He falls to the ground even banging the floor like a whiny brat while literally the IT tries to tell him to turn himself in. Again, like a brat he tells everyone to shut up—before getting incapacitated. While some of the IT rejoice, he bolts up unaccepting of his defeat—before getting hit in the stomach.
youtube
(1:23:54)
And his words from when he drops his katana, “Why..?” He grabs the foldable chair against his stomach, and with a remorseful look in his eyes, he says “I’m sorry..!”
THEN HE BACKFLIPS—then Hayato slashes him.
In a tone of disbelief, he goes “no way...” and collapses to the ground, being possessed by Ame-no-Sagiri.
Blah blah blah then Teddie rockets himself into the eyeball spy cam and then they both explode aaaaa
Teddie survives but I really don’t know where Adachi went. Not even a mention by Dojima if he turned himself in or was ever found—or I need to review VLE for the 48274827482nd time hehe
WHOO then the whole cast appears for the dance number at the end of show YAHOO
#long post#persona 4#persona 4 visualive#persona 4 visualive the evolution#tohru adachi#sulululat#pagsususuri#p4#p4v#p4ve#//HAPPY 4K WORDS VL ANON#// if theres anything u want to ask... im right here /collapses/#// i almost went ham over actor relationships like. talking abt bpm was ENOUGHHH we're talking about the character not the assistant direct#// aaa this took so long... i literally mashed up so many other idea documents into one.. man.

▲ ICHIRUKI (also that edit!!!! my heart!!!!!)
Unpopular Opinion #1: I really dislike the notion that’s been built up in the fandom that Ichigo and Rukia understand each other perfectly just through eye contact and that they don’t need to talk (and certainly not about their feelings!) because they’re soulmates and uwu just so perfect for each other. Because that’s bullshit, and it’s just not borne out by how they act in the text.
They’re incredibly damaged people who heal each other and develop a very deep and intuitive understanding of each other, but they clearly didn’t always have that understanding and even once they do, they remain somewhat codependent on each other. The clearest evidence of that understanding taking time to develop is the prelude to the Grand Fisher fight, when Rukia is chastising herself after Ichigo says he killed his mother. Then she comes back and gives her speech:
Ichigo famously parrots this back at Isshin later. Like, my dudes, it is unambiguously right there in black and white: they still need to communicate complex shit verbally. They’re good at reading one another’s emotional states and knowing when things are wrong with each other… but they aren’t psychic. They still need to talk. And that is why whenever Ichigo is in a funk, Rukia gives a speech to snap him out of it: she talks to him.
And I feel like this perception is fueled by the fact Kubo went out of his fucking way to separate them as much as possible within the pages of his manga and to ignore most of the time they did have together to talk because it got in the way of shounen-y things or whatever other bullshit explanation he might’ve had.
A whole month of Rukia’s two months in Ichigo’s closet, including his 16th birthday? Not shown.
Ichigo staying in Soul Society for a week, presumably around Rukia rather than his friends? Not shown.
Ichigo and Rukia’s day together after her return from Soul Society before the fight with Grimmjow? Not shown.
Ichigo and Rukia in the aftermath of Ichigo regaining his Shinigami powers in the Xcution arc? Not shown.
Ichigo and Rukia training in the Soul King’s Palace together? Not shown.
Ichigo and Rukia in the immediate aftermath of the war? Not shown.
They had an awful lot of time to just talk. And they presumably did talk, given for example that Ichigo knew Rukia would be at Kuukaku’s house if she wasn’t in Soul Society—he had to have some idea about Kaien, and that means she must’ve told him about him. But we didn’t see it.
Because Kubo is a wuss and refused to let anyone interact for any reason, but especially not people who’d talk for hours and hours due to having a natural and easy interpersonal connection. (The live-action movie is canonical as to how Ichigo and Rukia’s downtime would’ve gone down, fight me.)
Unpopular Opinion #2: In a related fashion, a lot of people in fandom say they’re not the kind of people to outright say “I love you” to one another. And while that is admittedly a very Japanese position to take (as saying “aishiteru” is considered really dramatic) I would counter by saying that Ichigo and Rukia very much are the D R A M A T I Q U E sorts who would do exactly that.
Like, come on, they met with Ichigo kicking Rukia in the ass, Rukia drawing a mustache on Ichigo’s face, and Rukia stabbing Ichigo through the heart to transfer her soul powers to him after he cracked some sexual innuendo like “Let’s do it.” Then there’s Ichigo’s various arrivals in the Soul Society arc, and Rukia’s arrivals at the start of the Arrancar, Hueco Mundo, and Xcution arcs to pay him back, which are all dramatic as fuck. It’s always spectacle with them around each other, and they can’t seem to help it.
Oh, but it’d be too dramatic for them to say “I love you”? As if. They’re precisely the kind of people to spring “I love you,” on each other in a society where that doesn’t happen often, just like they almost instantly skip to being on a first-name basis and start up that rumor mill. They would just need some time to come around to it.
I originally wrote here that: “(The Leia/Han thing from The Empire Strikes Back of “I love you,” and “I know,” would fit perfectly at the end of chapter 423, in either configuration, and you cannot convince me otherwise.)” I instead went and made it and gave it its own post, but you can have it again:
Tell me this does not work. Tell me it does not feel canonical. Tell me it doesn’t feel like them. And I’ll call you a bloody liar for your troubles!
Unpopular Opinion #3: They’re both switches. Neither is a defined top or bottom, sub or dom. (And to be honest, I pretty much hate the whole concept/trope in fandom for all ships that each party must be one defined thing.)
This is more of a Rukia-specific note but she tries to be so put-together and in-control all of the time that the idea that her thing is being in charge strikes me as weird; she’d seem just as if not more likely to have a kink of losing or giving up control (and being coaxed/made to forget her responsibilities/past as part of the act) simply because it was novel.
Meanwhile, on a more Ichigo specific note... Shirosaki/Hichigo/Zangetsu is basically Ichigo’s id and has a real thing for being The King and riding “a horse,” and you’re gonna tell me Ichigo’s an innocent bottom? Nah. I think Ichigo’s a little shy and seems fairly close to demisexual if anything, but he is also still clearly interested in women (as Yoruichi, Rangiku, and Tenjirou of all people could attest) and I think given what we see of Zangetsu, he would be pretty eager to learn.
(I would probably call them both demisexual overall. But they’re switches.)
Unpopular Opinion #4: This is IchiRuki-tangential, but I cringe when people write Byakuya as disapproving of Ichigo in particular or IchiRuki in general for the sake of petty drama. Post-Soul Society, Byakuya is absolutely Ichigo’s biggest booster other than Rukia (ahead of Isshin, Karin, Yuzu, Orihime, Chad, Uryuu, Tatsuki, Keigo, Mizuiro, Kisuke, Yoruichi, Juushirou, Shunsui, et alia).
Dude did his best to kill Tsukishima, who he thought was a mentor-figure at the time, because he wanted to hurt Ichigo. He would be fucking thrilled, in his severely understated and conservative Byakuya way. The omake material with Byakuya getting Ichigo a lifetime meal pass in Soul Society is another example of this.
Other than Rukia there is no one more likely to start singing “Number One,” and you can’t tell me he wouldn’t support them given that. I feel this should also broadly be reflected in most AU settings because it’s pretty fundamental to Byakuya’s development as a character.
Unpopular Opinion #5: This one is for the Bleach community at large, and I’ll say it real simply: there isn’t a single plot point or sequence of events in the rest of the pile of shit that is Bleach that works one bit without Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship as the lynchpin holding it all up. There is no manga without them and their interactions.
It is, as I have said before, functionally more of a supernatural romance than an urban fantasy because of this. IR is like, the goddamn Higgs field of Bleach: it gives everything else mass.

I've noticed that you're not very fond of Renji or the Kuchiki characters in general. Can I ask why? (No offense, just curious)
No offense here, anon. I'm more than happy to answer.
I'll start with Rukia since she's the easiest to explain. Rukia was one of my favorite characters up until the Hueco Mundo Arc. You see at first she was a dynamic girl, a little helpless but that was understandable since she had no powers, she was funny, kind and I really felt for her during the first arcs. Then Kubo just replaced her with another character. Rukia got more closed off, agressive, punch happy and tried to make Ichigo apologize about something that wasn't his fault. I didn't hate her, as she still had some of her best traits but this shift made her go from one of my faves to a neutral character. Worst off it's when she marries Renji after he left her for years and almost slashed her to bits, and the novel, oh that damn post canon novel gave me rabies. She's embarrassed by being called Abarai? I could buy this from Orihime, or Momo, hell I'd even buy it from Riruka, but Rukia? No, that's not her. Instead of forgiving Byakuya and Renji in a heartbeat, Rukia's character would've been better off if she told them both to sit on a prickly cactus and stay the hell away from her, then left with Ichigo and Co. to the human world at the end of the Rescue arc. Instead she forgives those two, who have been nothing but shitty to her and takes to hero worshipping Byakuya. No, that's the worst thing she could've done and to top it off she marries one of them and has his kid. That dude hit you once and you not only marry him but have his kid?! Gurl, that literally begging for trouble right there. I just felt disgusted with the way Kubo handled Rukia. I don't hate her but I don't love her as much as everyone else in the fandom does.
Renji And Byakuya though? Those two I absolutely despise.
During the first arc these two come to the human world to arrest Rukia, who need I remind you was completely powerless, and what's the first thing Renji does? Swing a goddamn sword at her. He literally just tried to slash her with his sword. Does Byakuya interfiere? Tells him to maybe tone it down a bit? Nope, he does fucking nothing. Renji keeps trying to hit her, with a grin on his face, and later on even chokes her. It's not until Uryu, who's a freaking Quincy, steps in that the whole aggression stops.
I know people defend this with 'oh Kubo meant for them to seem as villians at the time' but I think you can't come back from trying to slash your bestie/future wife or from letting my sister be slashed to bits.
But ok, if it was just that, I'd be willing to let it slide so as long as the two apologize and Rukia gave em a 'reason you suck speech' or something similar. Well next time we see Renji he's taunting Rukia in prison. He backs out and says it's a joke later but it was still scumy of him to do that. During that same scene Rukia says she knows she'll get killed and pinnapple dumbass tells her Byakuya would intervine, but she shoots him down by saying that he'd likely just kill her himself and has never once cared for her from the moment he adopted her. Like, what? This asshat hasn't even looked her in the eye in 40 years? I know in shinigami time that's like 4 years maybe but it's still a long time to be emotionality neglected.
After his fight with Ichigo we get Renji And Rukia's backstory and instead of growing sympathetic towards him, I hated him more. So he and Rukia grow up together with some friends in the poorest place in Soul Society, and after their friends death they join the academy to get better housing and food. That's good so far, only the two are separate because Renji has more potential and Rukia is average at best. He gets new friends and keeps moving forward. Rukia was alone and stuck. Sad but ok maybe they'll make up after graduation. Nope, because the Kuchiki clan wants to adopt Rukia, remove her from the academy and now she'll live as a Noble. It's clear in that scene that Rukia does not want this, that she'll take any excuse to not accept, does Renji tell her to stay with him, or to choose what she wants? Of course not, the idiot congratulates her, makes a light-hearted joke about it and then sulks when Rukia sadly thanks him and leaves. Then he suddenly decides to stay away from Rukia for... bullshit reasons. Like I get Kubo tried to paint it as a I have to stay away so the Kuchiki won't get mad at her, but Rukia didn't ask for that, she was lonely, even more so without Renji, and he didn't even attempt to communicate with her or just check in? She obviously didn't want that and he didn't either, but no, I'm apparently supposed to be heartbroken that they were speareted. Then when he sees her again, his childhood bestie, the woman he loves, his future wife and mother of his child, what happens? He tried to slash her with a sword when she was depowered. See how his backstory made the previous scene worst. Honestly I was glad he chose to help Ichigo not let Rukia get killed but damn, it shouldn't have taken this long!
After that we get the whole Renji vs Byakuya thing. Renji goes down like a chump, assists in the final battle for a bit and that's it. No apologies for the past, or for what he did when he arrested her, or the things he said to her in prison, zero apologies from Renji Abarai. This doesn't work, especially if Kubo wanted to marry these two off by the end of the series. Renji needed to apologize directly, we needed to see it play out, not just be told he did it offscreen. This left me hating Renji for the reminder of the show. He was now more friendly and even a bit of a comic relief but his first impression muddled that for me. On the Fullbringer Arc he refused to fight Jackie because a man who hits a woman is trash but... didn't you just do that to the chick you're in love with like two years prior? Did he forget? Was that an admission of guilt or something? I dunno. It felt like a last ditch attempt from Kubo to make him more likeable but to me it fell flat. By the end I was fully disinterested in Renji, wheather he lived, died, married Rukia, Byakuya, whoever the hell, I just didn't care for him at all. It did bug me that he took Uryu's spot in the final chapter cover. Uryu deserved better than Mr hypocrite taking his limelight. Renji would've been better as one off villian, Kubo should've given his backstory to another character and have them with Rukia instead. I'll never get over the fact that this dude spent his first appearance being the most unlikeable jerk, physically assaulting the woman he loves, talking shit like a cocky dumbass, almost killing two of the main characters, and taking the girl he loved to her death; only to be married to said girl in the end, with a daughter and on best terms with the people he fucked over. I ain't a fan of him.
Byakuya it's another character who I wanted to smack against the concrete, repeatedly. First appearance? Lets his lieutenant throw his sister around like a ragdoll, almost kills an innocent human, and basically acts like everyone's beneath him? Good, I already hate him. Next time we see him, he shows no emotion towards Rukia's sentence, he's still hell-bent on stopping the human squad from rescuing her, almost lets Renji die after he loses to Ichigo (honestly I was down for Renji bitting it but c'mon this dude is your employee and you don't care if he dies? Big yikes) Keeps messing up every attempt from the others to rescue Rukia. Almost kills Renji in a fight, then goes to fight Ichigo and here's where he became irredeemable for me. During his fight with Ichigo, he says he'll beat Ichigo and then kill Rukia himself. That's when I wanted Ichigo to chop him into sashimi. You can't say something like that and expect anyone to forgive you. He loses against Ichigo and at the very least honors his word to not kill Rukia. Okay then he defends Rukia from the real baddies. Nice, I still hate him. When he's being healed he tells Rukia that he adopted her because his wife was Rukia's actual sister, and he promised he'd keep Rukia safe if he ever found her.
All throughout the flashback I only felt sympathy for Hisana. Being put in the poorest place in Rukon, having to leave your baby sister to survive, marrying a guy who you love only for his family to hate you because you're not Noble, then getting terminally ill and not being able to help your lost sibling, all of that is horrible and broke my heart. More so when you realize that Byakuya didn't keep his promise to protect Rukia because it would break the law. He can stick his laws where the sun don't shine Rukia almost got killed unfairly because of him, Ichigo and his friends would've died unfairly because of him, he doesn't deserve any forgiveness. At least the dude had the spine to apologize on screen but that still just the bare minimum. I wanted to see him make up for all the shit he caused, maybe try and help change the law so a mistake like this dosen't happen again, just something productive. Well no, he's still the same cold and unlikable jerk we first met, only now he seems to treat Rukia better. This should've been a start, not the default. When he almost died in the final arc I thought it was a fitting end, he's humbled down, he apologizes to Rukia and Renji for losing, he leaves everything in Ichigo's hands, which mirrors how he was opposing him on the first arc but it's now fully on his side, it was the best way to salvage this unlikeable prick. But no, he dosen't die. He lives and its back to the grind again. Worst of all it's how he appears during Rukia's big fight and she uses her Bankai, he's there to mansplain and sour the fight and ugh I hated that chapter. Then he says he's proud of Rukia and it's meant to be a heartwarming moment, to me however it was vomit inducing. You're proud now? Two years ago you almost killed her! You ignored her and neglected her for decades and this is supposed to be cute?! No, his pride is worth less than dirt when he treated her this badly before. Heck if he had won back at the beginning Rukia wouldn't even be there. You almost killed her two years before, and now you're proud? Miss me with that nonsense.
The ending was especially jarring for me not just because Renji got with Rukia but also because they, along with Byakuya did nothing to fix the system that almost led to Rukia's unfair death. None of them did anything and if there's one thing I would love to see if Bleach ever got a sequel, would be Ichika yelling at the three of them for their ineptitude. They let the Sokyoku get rebuilt, they didn't do a smidge to change the system even though they're two captains and a lieutenant, and still live in prefect rich peep paradise when Rukon is still as shitty as it was when Renji and Rukia lived there.
Sorry for the long answer, I just wanted to let everything out as in most discussions people are baffled by the fact that I don't like these three characters all that much. Hope this answers your question anon!

okokokok LISTEN there is one (1) actual ih shipper on my kr twit timeline (i don’t follow them but my mutuals regularly retweet them and the only reason i put up with it is because they’re a grimmichi shipper first and iher second so THANKFULLY not that many ih tweets) but the ENTIRE kr bleach twitter bar like... 3 of them subscribe to the ‘absolutely no hate allowed for anything except kubo, also ih may not be my main ship but it’s cute and ‘official’’ view of things, and. i thought i could survive but honestly. honestly i can’t. i didn’t think i was this petty but i AM. Fuck ih. Fuck ih
like theoretically speaking kr bleach twitter is a great place to be! theoretically speaking ‘no hate for anything except kubo, also be nice to people in public’ should be the policy to adopt in fandom! especially for a sns platform like twitter, which is MUCH more centred around the idea of PUBLIC speaking rather than tumblr which is first and foremost a blog! I get all this, in theory!!
but look. 50% of why im in fandom is so i can deconstruct what im reading and the other 50% is to draw shitposts in the form of art. IM GOING TO CALL BAD ELEMENTS IN THE STORY WHAT IT IS. AND IH IS A BAD SHIP!!!! IT WAS A FUCKING TERRIBLE ELEMENT IN THE STORY!!!! IM SORRY THAT BLEACH HAD SO MUCH ROMANCE INTERWOVEN INTO ITS VERY FOUNDATIONS THAT CRITIQUING HOW IT IS WRITTEN INHERENTLY MEANS COMPARING CONTRASTING AND CRITIQUING ITS SHIPS, ENDGAME OR OTHERWISE!!!! And, like, where do we draw the line for ‘hate’??? at what point does me calling a trashcan a trashcan become.... trashcan hate??? like trashcans are literally just cans designed to hold trash me just stating this fact and explaining what they do.... doesn’t constitute HATE y’know???
ANYWAY this one iher is responsible for gems such as ‘ichigo was everyone else’s sun but hime was HIS sun’ and TODAY they made this post that was like:
ichigo during hm arc: I’M GOING TO PROTECT EVERYONE! THATS WHY IM GOING TO FIGHT YOU, ULQUIORRA!
grimmjow: KUUUROSAKIIIIIIIII
and like, it was obviously supposed to be a grimmichi tweet, about how grimmjow was obsessed with fighting ichigo in the hm arc, but, like.
DID THEY READ THIS MANGA WITH THEIR ASS?????????? HOW ARE THEY BAD AT SHIPPING THEIR OWN FUCKING SHIP LITERALLY WHAT THE FUCK
Ichigo literally, in canon, no subtext, straight up told ulquiorra he had no reason to fight him, didn’t show any aggression to him, told him to calmly step out of the way, THEN WHEN HE MET UP WITH GRIMMJOW HE LOST HIS SHIT AND TOLD HIM TO SQUARE TF UP HE STRAIGHT UP SAID HE WAS AT HM TO FIGHT HIM I LITERALLY DO NOT!!! UNDERSTAND!!!! HOW THEIR BRAIN WORKS!!! LITERALLY WHAT ARE YOU READING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! QUOTE THE MANGA PAGES TO ME BECAUSE I JUST, I’M JUST SO, i am honestly so.... so incredulous all the TIME im just.... wow. wow
anyway this post has no point except ih hate im sorry if u opened it and scrolled all this way looking for a point to it. the point was that ih is a bad ship and literally none of their shippers can read. goodnight

Okay, okay, so I watched Fade to Black the other day and I kept thinking "Wow, that one IchiRuki blog I followed recently was righter than rain. They're gott damn fools in love." And then I watched Hell Verse and I'm like, "He went back into Hell for her (and Renji n Uryuu, but the focus was on Rukia so like, whatever, right?). He's a gott damn fool in love." It's so obvious that's is nearly painful, lmao
Sorry for the super late reply but I hadn’t checked my asks, I’M REALLY SORRY!!! But never late than never, right?
You are most certainly right, it’s physically painful to watch just how obvious their relationship is and even though the movies aren’t considered canon (although FtB is half canon due to how much Kubo invested himself on it) it does leave you thinking just why Pierrot always made so much emphasis on them. People like to argue and say it was because Rukia is the co-protagonist and that’s why she is shown to have so much importance to Ichigo, but in my opinion they could have highlighted Rukia‘s general relevance to the series without it holding such a sentimental value for him… however I can’t say they came up with it out of nowhere because they only took what already existed in the manga, deepened it and centered around it to make a whole movie out of it. Also, what was said by Kubo, Masakazu Morita and Fumiko Orikasa during the promotion campaign for the movie raised a lot the expectations regarding the nature of their relationship, I’ll quote some:
INCLUDED IN THE FADE TO BLACK MOVIE GUIDE
(Morita and Orikasa were interviewed regarding their experience while working in the movie. I shall refer to the interviewer as Q… for question, yes, I’m that simple. There were also some titles for some questions, which I will keep along the questions. )
Q: What were your thoughts when you first heard the third movie will be a story centering around Ichigo and Rukia?
Moritan: Compared to the first two movies, when I read the scenario I felt that it was a very strong story. I thought that it was a story that would revolutionize the “origin” of Bleach, with the meeting of Ichigo and Rukia as its main focus.
Oririn: I was surprised by the catchphrase “sayonara Rukia”. Director Abe told me that “something is going to happen to Rukia” so I felt insecure (laugh). But then I saw that the scene from the first episode was going to be in the movie and understood that because the TV animation of Bleach exists, this movie was able to exist as well. It is because of this that I think this movie may reach deep into the hearts of the people that has supported us up until now.
Q: To convey things that can’t be seen… Parting from this theme, what does this movie strongly aims to express?
Oririn: The movie tries to show something that can’t simply be seen with your eyes. I think that if I were to put it in words, I’d call it “bond”, but even then something deep inside our hearts might disagree. I feel the movie theme is so delicate that it cannot be explained just by words.Moritan: Because we’re practically done with recording this third movie, I feel very strongly about the “bond” there is with Rukia and beyond that, the connection between their souls. We reenacted Ichigo and Rukia’s meeting in the first episode from four years ago. Since then, through all of our journey and until now, as Ichigo and as myself as well, there were a lot of times when we came to become used to our mutual relationship. Then, a shocking meeting was drawn again and Ichigo as well as myself, were reminded of how important Rukia’s existence is. We were able to question it again. I think this series is becoming like that.
Oririn: I know that Ichigo cared about Rukia but I never thought it was something this deep, so it was a bit unexpected. Right now it seems appropriate to call it “history” because thanks to the things of the past we are able to have today, which is connecting to the future. I feel very strongly that Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship isn’t something that was built in the blink of an eye but rather it’s something that’s still being built up.
Q: It’s quite complicated, isn’t it?
Moritan: For me, I feel that the theme this time, “bond”, shows that the connection between souls is thicker than blood, but if I were to say that’s everything there’s to it then it would feel wrong and that won’t do. The first movie theme was “protect”, the second was “believe” and I took those words inside and buried them deep within me while performing. But this time it wasn’t enough to just use the word “bond”. Even if you were to say “I really love you” to your loved one, you still wouldn’t be able to tell them how much you really love them. My feelings are exactly like that right now. But even if “bond” couldn’t describe it, saying “super bond” sounds weird (laugh).
Q: Let’s pick up on what Orikasa-san said.
Moritan: There are a lot of things packed inside that emotion. And inside of it, choosing just one won’t show you the way. I wish to leave it to everyone’s own impression to see and feel just how deep that feeling is.
Oririn: That’s right, we’ll leave it to every fan that watches the movie, to decide with their own thoughts and feelings if the story is really that deep or not.
Q: Is Ichigo and Rukia’s confrontation an important point?
Oririn: It’s their first confrontation, but this time Rukia isn’t herself and doesn’t have any memories so I just went along with it without giving it much thought.
Moritan: It was difficult for me. Ichigo could never attack Rukia, you know. So it was really hard to fight her. It was very hard for Ichigo to see Rukia’s altered form.
The Recording Process
Q: How was the recording?
Moritan: Back when we did the first movie it was also our first time so we got really worked up about it, but because this is the third time, the recording became stylish and refined without any meaningless acts. The whole recording was made so it could be observed from behind, so we could concentrate only in performing and it was very fun. I was able to perform Ichigo’s core essence without any distracting thoughts. However it was my first time having to shout “Rukia!” so much.
Oririn: I’m usually the one that keeps calling “Ichigo!”, right? (laugh)
Moritan: I actually discovered a new way to perform and wistfully cry out “Rukia”.
Q: Speaking of performance, we heard that Ichigo’s voice is being renewed?
Moritan: That’s right. I changed my voice this time. It’s the fifth year and the third movie after all (laugh).
Oririn: Is that so? (laugh)
Moritan: Actually, Ichigo’s voice has changed numerous times up until now. I think you’ll notice that his current voice is really different if you watch the first episode again. I’m leaving behind my turning point and letting Ichigo grow. The Ichigo of this moment is like going back to the first Ichigo as I performed raising my voice a bit. What’s more, I usually talk monotonously and as if I was uninterested but this time I attempted to more or less give more intonation to it so the words themselves would express on their own. Actually, and I’m not trying to show off, but when I was practicing at home this voice for Ichigo was naturally born. When I stopped to wonder why, I realized just how much Rukia’s existence is able to move your heart. So this voice came out naturally from myself and I felt that if I performed with it as it was, my own heart would also be easily touched. So then I was able to act with this voice during the recording.
Q: As a result, did the Sound Supervisor give you an OK?
Moritan: I did it secretly without asking permission. I got scolded and were given an NG (no good) so I was worried. However, because the voice intonation was congruent, Ichigo’s change in emotions was tangible in the story.
Q: Then, did Orikasa-san make any changes as well?
Oririn: Even though the movie was special, I didn’t make any changes. I’ve been entrusted to perform Rukia in the TV anime version until now, so I’m always striving to express Rukia’s feelings one by one. It wasn’t any different for the movie. Only during her time in Inuzuri, the young Rukia who lived together with the twins had a different personality than the Rukia after her meeting with Ichigo. I think that she became cooler. During the flashback scenes, I performed while keeping in mind that she would express her emotions differently during those times.
Q: Did you make any good memories during the recording?
Oririn: During the scene when Rukia’s memories about Ichigo are returning I was asked to insert an improvisation of a warm word that symbolizes her, but because Rukia only used to say insults, I couldn’t come up with anything (laugh).
Moritan: Everyone tried very hard to think of something, but at the end all we could come up with was “tawake” (idiot). It was troublesome. I said, “I don’t remember ever being told warm words!” then everyone burst into laughter.
Oririn: The whole cast and staff were laughing hard, and come to think about it, even Kubo-sensei who had come by was laughing as well. Looking at his smiling face I could really feel his trust in us. It left a very good feeling.
Moritan: Even though he was busy, he kept looking after us for the whole two days of recording. His presence gave us strength and assured our hearts.
Message
Q: To finish, do you have a message for the fans?
Oririn: This time around the movie is about “a feeling that can’t be described by words” (laugh). What the characters hold inside their hearts couldn’t be expressed by a single word, it doesn’t have a shape and it can’t be seen but they’re connected at their very core… I strongly think that rather than watching, I wish everyone will be able to feel it.
Moritan: I hope for the fans to think about the importance of calling out someone’s name. This time, Ichigo is calling out Rukia, Renji, Byakuya and other people’s names but no one calls out his name. Even though he calls out no one answers him, so now I know how sad it is having no one to call your name. A name isn’t only something for you to call other people, but for other people to call you as well, that’s what I’m trying to say. I wish for everyone to watch the movie and understand how important it is. And after finishing watching the movie, I wish everyone will call out the name of the person they love.
…Those were Morita and Fumiko’s opinions on it (there’s more, but this is already long as it is) now, here’s what Kubo had to say about it:
INSIDE THE PAMPHLET GIVEN OUT DURING FTB’S PREMIERE
Kubo: The third movie is a special work for BLEACH. It’s different from the usual element of the other movies and it’s a story in which BLEACH’s origin is closely drawn. I’m hoping for this story to remain, even if just a little, inside the heart of a lot of people.
INSIDE THE MOVIE GUIDE
Q: Like in the previous work, we heard you were involved in this year’s movie since the early stage.
K: I think it all started around March when Director Abe and the movie staff came to me. Back then, Director Abe wanted a “back to the beginning” theme and wished for the main characters, Ichigo and Rukia, to be the focus of the story. On top of that, he wanted to portray something that linked back to the first chapter of Bleach, it’s original appearance… I was very happy to know that the movie was heading in that direction and said “that’s good, let’s go with that!” And from then on I joined in the production and put together the story and the setting after discussing it with everyone.
Q: We heard the scenario was completed after a lot of hardships?
K: The theme of the story was something I could agree with, but there were still some parts that made me worry up until the end. The speech in the last scene especially, I discussed it and decided it with the director at the recording studio (laugh).
To tell you the truth there are still bits I wanted to develop but if I did that who knows how long the film would be (laughs).
(I’ll make a pause here because in case anyone is wondering, he’s referring to Ichigo’s speech at the end, the one that goes:
“If death isn’t really the end, then that time we met might not have been the first. We might have been connected from long before that. I’m not really sure, but I think maybe once a bond is formed, it never disappears. If that’s the case, even if we forget everything, we’ll be connected again somewhere in the future.”
Soooo… yep, he personally worked on it.)
Q: Even the subtitle was given from you?
K: Ever since the second movie the subtitle was brought up by me. Since the moment I heard Rukia would lose her memory the image that her memories of Ichigo and the Gotei 13 would disappear came into my mind. After that, the meaning of “disappearing into black” became the subtitle “fade to black”.
Q: You even came up with the japanese subtitle “Calling Out Your Name”.
K: After coming up with the english subtitle “fade to black” they asked me to come up with a japanese one (laugh). So after carefully digesting the scenario I searched for some scenes that could hold the key words that I could use and found in the plot that someone calling someone else’s name was a strong expression that “even though no one else remembers you I do” and I found out it had an important meaning behind it, especially regarding this story where Ichigo keeps calling Rukia’s name. So that’s how I came up with the subtitle “calling out your name”.
Q: Please tell us, in your opinion, what’s the highlight of this movie?
K: Regarding the fights it’s not Ichigo vs. the Gotei 13, but Ichigo vs. Rukia. In the first scenario there wasn’t a “last boss” yet and someone raised the question about it. And we thought that since Ichigo forgot about Rukia, “we want to see Ichigo and Rukia!” We started planning after that. In this fight there’s actually a scene that links back to the first chapter of the manga and in my opinion I feel it’s the most important scene in the movie. It links with what the director said about going “back to the beginning”.
Q: As you were involved in this movie, were there any bits you drew thinking about going “back to the beginning”?
K: I didn’t come up with the idea of using the scene where Rukia gives her power to Ichigo like in the very first chapter, so going back to that scene in the movie made a strong impression in me and I felt that it was very interesting. On top of that, because of this story I was able to recognize once again that Ichigo and Rukia’s relationship is something special.
Q: What do you think about the bond those two have with each other?
K: It’s not friendship but it’s not an amorous feeling either. Regarding these two, I don’t think there is other relationship like theirs in other works where despite standing in a very close position with each other it is not romance (laughs). But in this year’s movie there is a scene where Ichigo says Rukia is his “precious nakama” and I think that explains their relationship well.
Q: You watched the movie at a private screening, but what sort of feelings did you have about it?
K: I had fun (laughs), because it’s my own work it feels completed but on the hand it means that you can’t create anything stronger than that. In some parts while I was drawing I would think “would this sort of situation really happen?”, but even so I was the one who thought and came up with the plot so even it amazes me it doesn’t feel “new”. Even if I as the original author was involved, the drawings are done by other people and the voices are done by the voice actors, so when the movie is completed I always savor the feeling of surprise. “They should move like this”, “their voices are like that”, I always give feedback with a lot of emotion and excitement, and I’m always looking forward to that.
Q: What bits do you want everyone to focus on?
K: The relationship between Ichigo and Rukia. The change in their feelings.
And there you have it. I won’t add anything about Hellverse because they centered more around the action aspect of it during the promotion so that’s it. I did find curious the fact that Kokuto decided to use Rukia to bait Ichigo to attack him… although I could always just go with “she’s the only female of the group, Ichigo has a savior complex, yadda yadda yadda…” but they could have also just kept Yuzu longer in hell to motivate him. There’s also the fact that once he defeats him he basically forgets about Uryuu and Renji as he’s too occupied talking to Rukia… I WONDER WHY *shrugs*. The thing with Fade to Black is that Kubo was deeply involved in its production and as I quoted above from what he said back when it first got released he actually said that he came up with the plot himself and that it was his work, and I think it speaks tons about what actually is the nature of their relationship when you watch this movie and you get that speech at the end (besides everything that happens in between, including Ichigo’s built-in Rukia radar), and then the author of the original work comes and tells you he worked on it himself.
IchiRuki is painful in the sense that it’s so right, so harmonious, so obvious, so perfectly written and executed, but it got served wrong at the end. But yes, their relationship is the maximum expression of love there is on earth and I think I don’t speak only for myself when I say they’re the goal.
#IchiRuki#Fate to Black Call Out Your Name#Bleach Movie#intense shipping#when the non canon material is actually canon#I avoided going deeper into the more than friends less than lovers topic because HOW MUCH FUCKING LONG WOULD THIS BE#I'm just going to watch this freaking movie again because I need it#that one answer that became a full blown post#sorry for not being sorry

SA SAMAR
May 4-8, 2018 - ”Nasaan na raw po ‘yung mga paintings ni daddy?” (Where are my daddy’s paintings?)
The lack of Waray words in the sentence might’ve encouraged my grandmothers to ignore my inquiry once again. Still, I insist—I cannot let down my dad’s excitement and mine, too. It was my first time in Samar, and right after setting my foot in the tiny Tacloban airport, I knew it was going to be a special experience. It must have been different for them, though. I am just their (literally) distant granddaughter who visited the province for the first time as a representative of my dad, the young man who left his hometown in his 20s and hasn’t come back since.
Western Samar, 2018
I traveled to Samar for a 5-day vacation with my two Waray Balikbayan aunties. What they spoke of 60% of the time, I have no clue! Upon landing at Tacloban, we immediately embarked on a 5-hour drive from the airport to my grandmother’s humble home. I’m all groggy and tired, but I can’t waste those 5 hours of stories and beautiful scenery by sleeping.
My aunts hired a local driver and they exchanged short anecdotes on the life of Yolanda survivors after the great Typhoon, the freshness of seafood and vegetables in Samar, the perfect places to buy pasalubongs, etc. I struggle to keep myself in the conversation, asking them to translate in Tagalog a sentence or two.
San Juanico Bridge, 2018
The ride started from souvenir shops, gasoline stations, and small parks, to tall palm trees, an overlooking of the shore, and of course, the Samar-Leyte connection—San Juanico Bridge—and its good-looking view. Serene and beautiful. Not until we noticed the recurring view of identical half-made houses that seemed to be under construction AND abandoned. They were the pabahay (housing) for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
Our local driver narrated the current situation of the pabahays. It is a worry that most of the houses can comfortably accommodate only at most 3 people. But, it is even more problematic that most of them currently accommodate less than they can—none—because they are not even halfway done. See, Typhoon Yolanda happened almost 5 years ago.
On a positive note, it is a relief to know that there are housings of good quality provided mostly by the NGOs and other donors. They are medium-sized, beautifully-painted, and some are even equipped with a satellite dish. :)
SAN PEDRO
San Pedro, Quinapondan, Eastern Samar, 2018
My grandmother and Aunt Baby, the sweetest of them all, welcomed us with a big hug and a feast of seafood, vegetables, root crops, and meat. Freshness beyond words. We ate together with our hands, and called to meal whosoever happens to pass by the dining area. It was a feast! I can still remember how my hungry, jet-lagged self devoured that meal. Jollibee is no match. Sobrang sarap talaga huhu
San Pedro, Quinapondan, Eastern Samar, 2018
A mini "welcome tour" from my Aunt Baby followed afterward. Meeting my cousins that day was like meeting them for the first time. We were kids when we last spent time together. My cousins smiled shyly and said nothing as my Aunt Baby called them from their rooms. If their eldest sister--who was of my age--was there, it might have been different.
My Aunt Baby's eldest son tagged along as she led me to the shabby stairs of a bahay kubo across my grandmother's house. The bahay kubo was old and fully furnished, but spacious. It housed relatives I've never met until then: my father’s cousins, their children, and their blind mother—one of my grandmothers. All narrated childhood stories of them and my dad’s. Happy stories, until they get to the part where my daddy left.
San Pedro Church, Quinapondan, Eastern Samar, 2018
San Pedro Church, Quinapondan, Eastern Samar, 2018 | Fujicolor C200 in Canon TLb
From afar, San Pedro Church looked like a typical province church. Beautiful and small. Up close, it was of dried flowers, broken pews, shattered glass panes, and severed holy statues. I wonder how a church, that stands in the middle of a Barangay, filled with (probably) very religious people, can look so neglected. We said our prayers, and left.

Calicoan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar, 2018
The moment we arrived, it was low tide. Nevertheless, the Island was beautiful. For someone as easily fascinated as myself, I am in awe. (as usual) I don't have much to say about Calicoan, except that it makes me feel like leaving the City life for good.
Traveling with people who are from a different generation means I have to do my millennial shit alone. And so, that day, as my elders are chitchatting and trying to avoid the sun and the sea, I put on my bathing suit, went down the beach, set up my phone camera beneath the rocks, and took videos and photos of myself along the shore.
Sounds lonely, but it was refreshing.

The Goat House, Calicoan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar, 2018
A few steps away from Calicoan Resort is a surfing spot called ABCD Beach, and across that beach is a small eating place for surfers called The Goat House. I urged my Aunt to try their food, which I had high hopes for. Not as good as I hoped, but the stories we heard inside The Goat House made up for it.
The eatery was manned by 2 locals and a French traveler, the girlfriend of one of the locals. The 32-year-old French waitress served our food, along with the story of the surfing scar on her leg--upon asking. Her travel story followed right after. She was really brave.
Another foreign traveler sits by the wooden bar. The Dutch surfer/customer enthusiastically answered my Aunt's inquiry: "So how's the Philippines?" with very lovely, positive words. It’s a shame that they might’ve experienced the Philippines more than I do. Before leaving, we finished a kakanin that one of my uncles ordered from a vendor by the road. Despite the food, I have no regrets about visiting the place.

This is a corner dedicated for offering prayers to St. Anthony of Padua. As expected, it was filled with Catholic tourists lighting their candles. I waited long for the area to clear up to get a shot. However, as I finally take the long-awaited shot, a man in short bobs and worn-out gloves replaced the group of praying people. He was patiently clearing out the candle drops and leftover wax before another set light new ones. I gladly included him in the frame. Only to find out weeks later that my shot was out of focus. Even so, I enjoyed the people-watching.
SAN PEDRO, AGAIN

San Pedro, Quinapondan, Eastern Samar, 2018
It was a mini recap of my dad’s childhood, before finally leaving Samar. I saw the house and the woman--his aunt--who raised my dad. They told me lots of stories, and were very warm. I love old stories by old people.
While my dad was on video call, I looked around the house for the paintings that he was bragging about ever since I landed. This has to be the highlight of my trip--nothing’s more interesting, so far, than my father’s long lost art! Finding nothing, I inquired once again:
“Nasaan na raw po ‘yung mga paintings ni daddy?”
(Where are my daddy’s paintings?)
I got my answer.
“Wala na, natangay ng Yolanda.”
(None are left, they are taken away by (Typhoon) Yolanda.)
For a while there, I was devastated. I could sense my dad was too. So, I let him talk to his old friends and family. He was laughing the whole time, despite the weak signal, pixelated faces, and slurry words.
At that moment, I decided I should go back soon. I’ll be with dad. He will be coming home, too.
--‘Till next time!

OKAY SO IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE AU’S TIMELINE SINCE I HAVE LITERALLY HAVE NOTHING WRITTEN ABOUT IT TO UPDATE MY FOLLOWERS (I’ll update that google doc before the event begins I swear)
As of late in his journey through Ula’Ula Island, Kubo is no longer able to draw out his wild KARTANA, Hanzo. This is because of an unfortunate encounter with a wild salamence that attacked it, and then proceeded to attack Kubo. Acting out of protectiveness, Hanzo killed the salamence before it could do harm to the boy, but this caught the attention of ferventwished’s rayquaza, who only got to see the salamence be killed. Hanzo and Rayquaza engaged in battle, and Kubo attempted to capture Hanzo in a pokeball for the first time in order to protect the Ultra Beast from the serpent’s wrath. However, his attempt was unsuccessful, and Hanzo, feeling betrayed, fled. THE KARTANA HAS REFUSED TO REAPPEAR SINCE.
KUBO IS HESITANT TO BRING UP THE BATTLE BETWEEN HANZO AND RAYQUAZA. Even to his closest friends -- his closest human companion, hiddcnwishes’ PRINCE, doesn’t even know. The kid currently frustrated and a bit butthurt about witnessing first hand how dangerous Hanzo can be, and he’s afraid of being told that he’s wrong, and having that be justified. He is currently searching for Hanzo, but as Kubo treks on, he’s started to give up and pursue the completion of his trials, in hopes that he might meet LUNALA again.
Prince is currently in the hospital due to some extreme narcolepsy. The two boys temporarily parted on amiable terms, so that Kubo could continue on his trials and Prince could get the care he needs. Unfortunately though, if you were to take a look at @hiddcnwishes blog, you’ll see that things haven’t been going very well for him.
ALL CURRENT INTERACTIONS BETWEEN KUBO SPECIFICALLY AND AETHERBEAST’S 01 ARE POST THIS UPCOMING EVENT. The two first met on a trail early on Akala Island, and later encountered one another during Kubo’s visit to the Aether Foundation, which would be hacked by LUNAR CIRCLE agents during his visit. 01 IS CURRENTLY IN THE POSSESSION OF THE LUNAR CIRCLE IN KUBO’S CANON. The Lunar Circle blackmailed 01 into cooperating with them by capturing and threatening to harm to one of his companions, unkemptflora’s HIKARI. While held hostage, 01 is trying to decipher the goals of the Lunar Circle and is sending the information he knows to his packmate, syntheticbeast’s 03. IMPORTANT: KUBO DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT 01′S CAPTURE AND IS NOT BE TOLD FOR EVENT PURPOSES. 01′S CAPTURE BY THE LUNAR CIRCLE IS TO BE KEPT SECRET AND ONLY KNOWN IC BY PARTICULAR MUSES WHOSE MUNS HAVE DISCUSSED IT WITH ME PRIOR.
Kubo is aware of growing LUNAR CIRCLE activity, but refuses to speak up about it do to personal denial, a growing confidence that his identity as the leader Raiden’s grandson is unknown to its members ( since he was only an infant when he and his grandfather met each other, ) and because he’s afraid of being painted with their reputation due to his blood relations. Kubo has encountered the Lunar Circle twice knowingly -- first, when he and fusionbolt’s ADAIR and the second time with runninglightning’s RAIKO. He doesn’t know what they’re plotting, only that they’re up to something.
MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL: KUBO HAS NOT OPENLY TOLD ANYONE ABOUT HIS HISTORY OR HIS TIES TO THE LUNAR CIRCLE. The only muse who knows about his ties is decidxeye’s ALBA. Unless we have discussed it out of character, please do not come to my muse in character asking about his relations to the Lunar Circle. For story purposes, Kubo isn’t going to tell anyone openly for a while.
Also, Kubo’s hatching an egg. Weeee!!

For the ask: Armin Arlert (snk) and if you really want to procrastinate: Grimmjow, Nnoitra, Szayel :P
puuuh yes thanks for the ask! I’ll do all of them :3
Armin Arlert
Fav thing about him: that he’s not physically strong but that doesn’t matter because he makes up for it with intelligence and attentiveness. He’s good at seeing through people and is able to recognize their true motifs. I can relate to him a lot. Also: another small character that totally rocks!
Least fav thing: how he’s so self-conscious about not being strong enough and how he feels he’s just a drag to Mikasa and Eren. Makes me sad to just think about it. He’s so precious and important for them and for the entire story, he just needs some confidence!
Fav line: I don’t like the terms “good person” or “bad person” because it is impossible to be entirely good to everyone. To some, you are a good person, while to others, you are a bad person.(To Annie). So much truth in those words.
brOTP: EreMin, AruMika
OTP: JeArmin all the way
nOTP: idk, maybe RivaMin (in case that’s even a thing)
Random headcanon: I really love all childhood headcanons with the Shiganshina trio, and this one: During the time skip, Armin teams up with Hanji and works on weaponry, armour and battle tactics as to how they could defeat the shifters and marley. I imagine them having designed the new uniform together.
Unpopular opinion: idk if unpopular, but I think Armin will be super hot after the time skip. Hope we get to see him soon!
Song I associate with him: Everything in its right place by Radiohead. I think the band fits him in general.
Fav picture: aww look what a cinnamon roll :3 he deserves to be smiling like that all the time
Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez
Fav thing about him: That Aizen basically told him not to go, but he did it anyway and lost his entire Fracciones squad. Tosen had to bring him back like a disobedient little child. But seriously: I was with him all the way. Going against Aizen’s orders is awesome.
Least fav thing: How he kinda got off-screen killed (or is he alive?) in the manga. Maaaan I was so happy to see him and then he doesn’t even get a decent ending. Sure, I know the reasons why and everything, but it’s still super frustrating. The way he finished off Askin was awesome, though.
Fav line: I am the king. Love his confidence and hubris.
brOTP: GrimIchi (maybe not in canon, but maybe in an AU I can see it happen)
OTP: I ship GrimHime, GrimSzay, and GrimYumi (for the lulz)
nOTP: GrimIchi in a romantic sense, GrimUlqui
Random headcanon: I often imagine Gin and Ulquiorra, independently of each other, troll Grimmjow really hard because they know he can’t do anything about it as Aizen prohibited it. Grimmjow then is like this huge ball of rage and wants to blast them to pieces with his Cero but has to keep it together because getting punished by Aizen is horrible.
Unpopular opinion: I don’t think Ulquiorra and he have any kind of romantic chemistry whatsoever. Also, Grimmjow would not want to sleep with Ichigo. Fighting yes, but nothing more.
Song I associate with him: The Devil in I by Slipknot. I once wrote a fanfic about several Bleach characters and assigned all of them a song just like Tite Kubo did, and this was the one for Grimmjow. Kinda stuck with it.
Fav picture: I love love love his resurrecion form. So badass, and the pretty blue hair…
Nnoitra Gilga
Fav thing about him: His entire motif. Despair. How he wants to be the very strongest and best fighter but it doesn’t actually do anything for him when he wins because it just leaves him emptier than before. I’m kind of happy he failed to become the strongest, because it would only have left him in despair as his life would have been meaningless as soon as he would have reached his goal.
Least fav thing: how he treated Tesla. He could have at least shown a tiny glimpse of a more human side being a little nice to him. Poor boy. Also: What he did to Nel, Peche and Dondochakka. Omg. That was just super petty. He couldn’t beat her in fight so he played it dirty. Like a real man. Yeah. Also, he’s kinda sexist. But I still love him as a character.
Fav line: I wanna be cut so that my breath is gone before my body hits the ground. That’s the kind of death I wanna have.I’m so happy he got what he wished for. And that fight with Kenpachi is one of the most epic I’ve ever seen in anime.
brOTP: NnoiTes
OTP: NnoiSzay (I live for this pairing)
nOTP: NnoiNel (come on, just look what he did to her and then tell me he actually just wanted to get in her pants. Lol no.)
Random headcanon: I wrote an entire fanfic about Nnoitra and Szayel where they knew each other before Aizen came. They just wandered through the desert together and slaughtered everyone that crossed their way. They also have a messed up “romantic” relationship - Nnoitra once tried to prove to Szayel how much he appreciates him by piling up corpses, as many as he could find, to impress him. Needless to say Szayel was super impressed and used them for his twisted experiments. Aaah totally my kind of romance.
Unpopular opinion: that I don’t ship him with Nel is unpopular already I guess. But also: I love his hair. I think he’s kinda pretty for some reason, and praying mantis are super cool, I love his and Szayel’s animal themes the most.
Song I associate with him: Sweet Dreams by Marilyn Manson. Eerie but really cool.
Fav picture: I loved the scene where Kenpachi stabbed him thinking it would pierce his eye, but then Nnoitra revealed his hollow hole. Badass. Also: my fav hollow hole location.
Szayelaporro Granz
Fav thing about him: I love everything about him tbh. He’s my absolute favourite Espada. What I especially like is his butterfly motif, his aspect of death (madness) and the struggle for / with perfection. Just like with Nnoitra’s despair motif / struggle to be the strongest, Szayel strives for perfection but, as soon as he would achieve to be a perfect being, his life would be meaningless. Like Mayuri phrased it: perfection means standstill, but science is all about progress, so Szayel’s goal contradicts his profession / vocation. Loved that.
Least fav thing: not that he died and ended up in hell, I thought that was a reasonable ending for him, but the way how he died. Seriously, it was the cruelest death in all of bleach. Mayuri injected him with a poison that made him “super human” - he perceived the world as it were in slow motion because he was functioning at hyper speed. Then, Mayuri stabbed him with his sword and, because everything felt slow to Szayel, the pain and the process of dying seemed to last for a 100 years. Just imagine that. I feel so sorry for him! Yes I know he was an asshole and cruel and tortured Uryu and Renji and whatnot but maaaannn I loved him.
Fav line: When he said I don’t swing that way when Renji trapped him up close with his bankai. Eeehehe sure you don’t, suuuure. But you can deep-throat your entire sword, you know.
brOTP: SzayGin (I see them getting along well for some reason)
OTP: NnoiSzay, GrimSzay
nOTP: anything goes with Szayel^^
Random headcanon: Besides all his gruelsome experiments on living beings and the likes, he also loves to abuse chemistry and creates his very own drugs. Then he takes them (maybe shares some with Zommari lol) and gets all psychedelic and trippy. I think that would really fit his motif. Also: Every time somebody tries to mess with him, Szayel just does absolutely nothing (because fighting isn’t really his style) and lets Nnoitra settle it for him (because he loves fighting). Ah they‘re perfect for each other.
Unpopular opinion: That I think he’s crazy attractive? Idk, I just love pretty men.
Song I associate with him: E.T. by Katy Perry (but preferably the hardstyle remix by Onyx of that song). The whole supernatural poisonous sugar alien thing fits him really well I think.
Fav picture: he’s so evil yet so pretty :> And his release form is super gorgeous.
that was fun! Gotta love my precious Espada :3
xx Julien

Yuri on Ice ask meme
I thought it would be fun to answer these ^-^
1.how did you find out about the show
This one is a little fuzzy but I’m pretty sure my best friend @evangelinedares showed me the trailer, I’d also been very into sports anime for a while
2.favorite episode and why
Everyone says episode 10 and I’d have to agree with the majority. Not only because of the amazing reveal of the banquet incident (completely changing the narrative altogether) the start of the episode is in Viktor’s pov which was very interesting because up until then (whiles he’s an amazingly well written character) he’s very hard to read so it was nice to here his inner thoughts about what was happening around him... and the “sleeping beauty” comment.
3.favorite character and why
This one was difficult as Yuuri and Phichit were my favorite characters instantly and they hold a special place for me. I’d have to say Yuuri Katsuki. Answering why will be hard hopefully it won’t get too long XD I just love how realistic his character is. I love how un-protag he is. The same archetype of loud, bumbling, loveable anime guy™ has been done to death. I also love that throughout the show we see so many sides of him, one surprise after another. The fact that from the first episode alone he mislead me to believe he wasn’t a big deal, that he wasn’t that good. Third episode in I realize “hey this guy competed in the Grand Prix?? and obviously seems like an important person in his town.” The way he fools you, shrinking his accomplishments is refreshing as a main character and makes him very relate able. I also think he represented how anxiety affects people’s life in a pretty accurate way.... anddd I was in love with his design from the start. Dark hair and glasses are my thing.
4.least favorite character and why
I don’t think I can really answer this? I like them all in their own ways, but funny story I did not like Yuri Plisetsky at all in like the first 5 minutes he was properly introduced (sorry @evangelinedares XD) I thought, “man, what is this guy’s problem?” but he definitely grew on me once I understood his character.
5. favorite rare pair
Mila and Sara. We don’t see much of them together (people ship them after seeing like one frame of them together.) I want to see them having a fun friendship (they would definitely be a cute couple though.)
6. favorite costume(s)
The eros costume really appeals to my darker aesthetic so naturally I fell for that one.
7. favorite short program
Yuuri Katsuki, On Love: Eros
8. favorite free skate
Yuri Plisetsky, Allegro Appassionato in B minor
9. favorite location
The onsen in Hasetsu (when is was snowing)
10. favorite victuuri moment
Two moments, Episode 7: Parking garage argument and Yuuri dropping his tissue, poking Viktor’s head and skating with a smile.
11. favorite line of dialogue
"Just have more faith than I do that I'll win..." jesus, this scene hit me hard, this part of the quote in particular really struck a chord with me. I understood it as, “I’m not very confident in myself but I can make up for it with you having confidence in me.” it’s a very vulnerable thing to say/admit.
12. favorite meta
it would take forever to find the post XD
13. best character development arc
Obvious answer would be Yuuri Katsuki because his changes are again very obvious throughout, I mean I argue that (It could be canon according to Kubo I have to find where I read it) Yuuri Katsuki did not change drastically, I feel like he just realized what was always in him, he’s always been talented, he’s always had confidence buried inside, he realizes people care about him, he’s always been good at putting himself back together. So, I would have to say my favorite arc is Yuri Plisetsky (funny because originally he was my least favorite character.) his evolution was beautiful to watch and I love how all the changes weren’t positive, yes he reached his full potential and won the Grand prix but we also see him say that halfway through his program he “blacked out” which is really not a good thing. I want to see who he grows into.
14. who would you want to be rink mates with
Phichit <3
15. who would you want to get turnt with
Chris?
16. who would you want to be your coach
Minako Okukawa
17. which character are you most like
This one is tricky as I see myself in both Yuuri and Viktor, I go on and on about how much I love Yuuri but between the two I think I’m the most like Viktor. Most people who know me wouldn’t see it as I’m often described as “chill” by most people who know me and Viktor obviously has a fairly cheery disposition (when he’s with Yuuri). That’s one thing right there. I have one person in my life that gets to know other sides of me, it’s often said in canon “only Yuuri sees this cute side of Viktor.” Being lost when someone tells me they just want me to “be myself.” Feeling like I have to put on different personas to please different people. Feeling isolated/unsatisfied (indifferent) when people marvel at my achievements, losing interest in things you once loved. (common symptom of depression but lets not get too deep! moving on XD)
18. who do you think should have won the gpf
Despite loving the fuck out of Yuuri Katsuki, I feel the results aligned perfectly with everyone’s arc. I read a wonderful meta that explained how Yuuri winning silver drove home the theme of how Yuuri learns about love. In the beginning Yuuri places all his self worth on winning gold and when he doesn’t he beats himself up hard. It’s a bit of a parallel to how the series stars, Yuuri failing the gpf so badly that he wants to retire and by the end making the podium (still not getting the gold he wants) but is stronger to keep going. It seems his self esteem went up a little by the end of the show.
19. what are you expecting/hoping will be in the movie
mannnn at this point I don’t ask for much I’ll gladly watch them mow a lawn for 2 hours but jokes aside I want to know Yuuri’s past how he grew up and same for viktor. VIKTOR’S FUCKING PAST, FAMILY, EDUCATION, ANYTHING THAT MAN IS SO MYSTERIOUS.
20. headcanon for what yuuri and Phichit majored in in university
Honestly never gave this much thought? Yuuri in dance, Phichit in some type of photography
21. headcanon for victor’s level of education
Firstly I’d like to say that I headcanon Viktor as being very intelligent. I don’t think he went to any kind of college/university. There are a lot of metas I’ve seen to back up that Viktor is a bookworm and I agree wholeheartedly. I also have an angsty headcanon that when he was young (like teens) he was shut down anytime he tried to talk about books, science (ect.) and was told that people just want him to be pretty and skate so he adopted this ditsy persona that people mistake for him being air headed. It bugs me when I read fics of people portraying him as this airhead that can’t cook, the trope-y hot dumb guy XD ugh it just bothers me.
22. favorite katsuki
If I’m bein honest, I’ve been lovin on Yuuri this whole post XD I fucking love Mari Katsuki, she doesn’t get enough love. She’s such a mood; smoking, deadpan, lowkey alternative older sister™
23. favorite russian skater
Viktor <3
24. headcanon for how vicchan died
I read a really amazing fic where they went to detail how Mari accidentally let go of the leash while walking Vicchan and he was hit by a car indirectly making it her fault. It adds a bit more depth to her cool persona she has.
25. what’s your eros
thicc girls with glasses and pixie cuts.
26. what’s your agape
@evangelinedares <3
27. were you already a fan of figure skating before watching the show (if not, have you become a fan now because of the show)
My Nana who passed a while ago would always watch it when I was young and I would watch with her and was a longtime fan (I was a big fan of Hanyu Yuzuru and Yulia Lipniskaya). Two years prior to the release of yoi I remember thinking “man I wish there was an anime about figure skating” and my prayers were answered XD
28. do you own any merchandise (share pics!!)
29.favorite official yoi event so far (and share if you’ve been to any)
Didn’t attended but watched the Chihoko drama online it was glorious.
30. favorite fanworks (art and/or fic)
fic:
ANY FIC BY EBENROOT OR SHYSWEETTHING
Like your French Girls by Ebenroot amazing Artist Viktor and Skater Yuuri au
