I've spent hours going around everywhere over the past few weeks and the SCALE of everything is just impossible to get over pictures, Joe's pinball machine FOR SURE [image ID under cut]

Call it general unawareness, but the showrunners making Laena and Nettles have a lot more in common than they did in the books is like the chef's kiss of all this discourse.

Like yea, let's make Laena 15 instead of 12 when she claims Vhagar, no one else, was a similar age with such a big feat.

gotta say I am loving the diversity of queer experiences and characters in Trials of Apollo. you got a depressed gay kid (who was recently violently outed) being happy with his boyfriend, glow-in-the-dark doogie howser.

he basically just gets a mention but also shout-out to Kayla's gay archery instructor dad.

then there's a pair of older lesbian moms in the Midwest who take in strays. and who gave up immortality for each other. and they're OLD and they have GRAY HAIR and they get to be crochety old women and I love them.

you got a girl who has spent the previous six books thinking she's straight come to the realization that she doesn't like her boyfriend that way (and maybe doesn't like boys at all...)

lavinia asimov. a character I only met just last night who already has my entire heart: a pink-haired awkward gangly Jewish girl who sneaks off to rendezvous with a hot girl made of poison oak. risking legion punishment and a horrible rash for a girl. they sent her on a quest because she was too annoying. im obsessed with her.

and of course the king of cringe bisexuals himself, Apollo. a guy so pathetic it's hard to even feel bad for him until like the third book. he gets a new crush like every other chapter. when he's not daydreaming about feeding grapes to the guy currently trying to kill him, he's mooning after paolo and damien and chiara and olujime. and percy's mom.
