What ever you do don't think about Percy reading Estelle a little kid version of 'The Odyssey' because that's what Sally read to him but he doesn't want to scare her. Don't imagine Sally looking on with guilt in her eyes cus she HAD to read him the real one so he knew what to expect. Don't think about Sally looking down on her little girl with tears in her eyes cus she doesn't need to worry about snakes in her bed or teachers being Cyclopes. Don't think of Sally seeing Estelle with Paul and having to leave the room cus when Percy was that age they had Gabe. Don't think of the unimaginable guilt that Sally must feel for being relieved that Estelle's biggest battle at 16, is her Dad being her teacher. And whatever you do don't think about Percy feeling like an outsider in his own family even though he gets constantly reassured that he's part of it and loved.
#percy jackson#percy jackon and the olympians#sally jackson#estelle blofis#paul blofis#teenage estelle making a comment about how blue food is for babies and Percy and Sally stopping cus to her its a juvenile thing but to them#it was a way to rebel against their abusive husband/stepdad.#camp half blood#perseus jackson#heroes of olympus#rick riordan#dont imagine Percy looking across the way at Sally Paul and Estelle play at the park and not going over cus he hed hate to ruin it with a#monster attack (theirs no monsters around that he can see but what if? he cant let his sister be harmed by them too)#pjo hoo toa#pjo#pjo series#theirs a Reddit abour this person that got to go on a overnight trip for school and their sleeping bag was a blanket tied up with rope.#their pjs were old sweats. their tooth paste was in bagie instead of a travel size. cus that all they could afford and they got bullied but#it was ok cus they got to go on the trip. but in the end the trip kinda sucked cus they didn't get to do what they wanted but they got to g#so it wasn't all bad. but afew years later after their family came into some money their little sibling got to go on the trip but they got#all new rhings for the trip. new clothes new sleeping bag a suit case. travel size products etc and while the other sibling get it its just#they're upset that they didnt get that. they know WHY they didnt but their still upset.#or that one episode of The Goid Place where elenor doesn't believe her mom is a good mom now cus she wanted a good mom but all she got was#shitty mom and if her mom had the ability to change she could have changed all along she just didnt.#that vibe but make it Percy Jackson (not to say sally was wrong she did what she could to make sure percy was prepared she just... doesn't#have to do that with Estelle that its kinda heart breaking cus she would have LOVED to not have had to prepare Percy but life sucks)

[Image description: A digital painting of Jimmy Cooper from the film Quadrophenia. He's at the centre of the piece. His hands are clasped together and his face - which is looking to the side, past the audience - is resting upon them slightly. He hunched into himself, hands pulled closed and his green parka jacket dwarfing him, as if he's drowning in it. His mouth his set and his eyes are squinted as his eyebrows begin to pull together. He seems tired, and his hair is messed up. Jimmy's skin uses warmer colours - although it primarily uses yellows and beiges - while his jacket is mostly colder blues and greens. His hair is comprised of colder tones too, with mostly blues and purples, with some greens are browns. The background is a light blue, with scratchy concentric circles drawn around Jimmy using a slightly darker blue.]

This is azriel thinking that Gwyn is charming: "A warrior sizing up an opponent, all traces of that charming irreverence gone." Yet he only thinks of Elain sexually.
Hey anon, I rlly appreciate the fact you took the time to give me a canon quote disproving what I said,
however on that note, I wouldn’t exactly be jumping up & down with glee - Anon, irreverence means to show disrespect to someone/something that is regarded and treated with respect. In this content, Gwyn was charming with Az as she is with everyone but didn’t you get the vibe she didn’t exactly want him there? From her early dismissal to her mundane answer when Az asked about her solstice - she wasn’t exactly giving, “omg Az is here with me! Im so happy!” Vibes. The only thing about Az that held her interest was the shadows and his title *cough* even to the end, Gwyn was focused on cutting the ribbon, not once looking back at Azriel.
Its like when you run into your teacher after school. You put on this fake, “miss im so glad to have ran into you!” attitude, but deep down you want to run the other way from the awkwardness of unexpectedly running into her. Then you both stand around for a good 5 minutes making polite conversation whilst secretly wishing it was over, you talk about school, maybe ask your teacher how she’s doing or ask a vague, general question about something in her personal life she’s shared, “Miss, how’s your dog charlie? You mentioned she was poorly,” in which she responds, “oh, he’s better now darling”. You stare at each other and cue your exist to leave whilst making a mental note not to go to that shop anymore at the time you did to avoid such an awkward interaction from happening again.
Thats the vibe Gwyn gave Az in the bonus. To the last part of your comment, anon, the bonus was one present moment of Azriels life. Its not his entire thought process. It won’t show his full feelings and opinions, only the ones he’s feeling at the moment the bonus takes place. I don’t know how long you’ve been in the fandom for - but before acosf, so pre-2020, the biggest anti elriel arguement was Az doesn’t view elain romantically. He has no attraction towards her and sees her as a platonic sibling. Then the bonus comes along and completely annihilates this arguement. Sjm disproved it & established Elriels relationship as romantic with a side of attraction. These new ACOTAR books are NA therefore anon, the male Li will have explicit thoughts about his LI. Its not a bad thing.
Sjm didn’t need to spend her time convincing us Az cares abour elain, she’s done that multiple times over the course of 4 books. She didn’t need to spend her time telling us why Az likes elain - you can 1) deduce that from the books and bonus 2) this is saved for the main book where the mmc during his grovelling monologue will tell the fmc all the reasons he’s obssesed with her.
Sjm however did need to categorise elriels relationship into it being romantic or platonic and with the way the bonus went, she made it the former. Just like she did with Nessian in their bonus, she categorised their relationship immediately into romance, so when you read Nessian’s scenes, you read them with a romantic tone. The same can now be said for elriel, everything Az did for elain from acofas to acosf, can now officially be read under a romantic tone erasing the idea of elriel being platonic. Sjm successfully ended one of elriels biggest anti arguement.
Idk why Az having explicit thoughts about elain has you clutching your pearls, you do know if gwynriel is endgame, he will have the same thoughts about Gwyn? Ig Lucien most also only want elain superficially since he also had explicit thoughts during his monologue. Have you read wings & ember? Azriel’s bonus is a parallel to it

your grovyle and dusknoir pieces matter so much to me because you capture the very essence of how much the green gecko bastard and his 7.11ft tall ass ghost-guy-that-was-sent-to-kill-him-but-whoops-something-happened matter to each other and just how they change the other while still being all awkward at certain times because they are in a situation that involves feelings in which they are both not used to (grovyles emotional tendencies where he pushed down things and thoughts that would otherwise doom the mission he was on and dusknoir just being completely foreign to them because he strives from a world where kindness and love is seen as a vulnerability so he just strayed far from things that will inevitably stab him in the back) and how they try to navigate it while having to bear the annoyances of the other but still viewing them in high regard nonetheless. i dont go here too much but i figured i may as well say it because i think you're cool and because you draw those two annoying little studs so well. have a good day scribz
Waaaa thank you!! I appreciate you stop by here to be so lovely! This made my entire week 🥹🥹 I always love to see you when you tag, youre so thorough in everh post you reblog, it's a delight to see ^^
They are sooo important to each other, I don't think we appreciate enough how pivotal they are to each other's development, especially grovyle to dusknoir's. Still cant believe the ghost's parting word and thought was a a most thankful message to his old enemy, thanking him for giving his life meaning, for helping him not regret having truly *lived*, not just survived. I wish Dusknoir got some more dialogue after coming back to life, but those being his last words, in addition to him constantly referencing grovyle's speech, just goes to show how far he's internalized grovyle's words.
And the way Grovyle genuinely sees and reaches towards Dusknoir's inner goodness, *while* he's actively being betrayed, is beyond words. Grovyle loves his friends deeply and by this point he's clearly gone far enough to consider Dusknoir close to that status. Maybe Dusknoir protecting him from a blow hit too close to home and changed the dynamic in his eyes from "temporal ally" to just "ally". It can't be a coincidence that Grovyle opens up and explains his motives and ideas after Dusknoir takes the attack for him.
You just can't get one without the other in my mind, it's how they contrast and mirror each other, it's how the game switches the tables and flips their alignment so seamlessly. The thief-captor dynamic turning on its head once you see their true colors. How dusknoir appears more mature and put together thanks to his charm and social skills, only for him to end up learning and looking up to Grovyle, whose more developed life philosophy and selfless objective end up convincing Dusknoie to fight for something beyond himself.
Special Episode 5 is one of rhe best pmd chapters/story out there, and it's the most basic premise of Grovyle and Dusknoir working together. The writers developed them so well in conjuction that they can't be separated in my head.
But even then their contrasting personalities makes them so fun to put them into situations, despite the ares wjere they might overlap. they're both great but they belong together. And celebi just adds even more flavour to the mix by adding someone so radically different from them in her view and approach to things (seeing as shes one of the onlu characters explicitly in love, maybe even in priorities outside world-ending cataclysms xD). Future trio in post-canon is simply too rich, even the crumbs from PSMD links them together and that's enough for me.
(And also just in general the vibes are so good, we make fun of dusknoie for the "looking nervous having your back exposed to me" but grovyle's "you cling to me beyond expectation" and "i surrender, do with me as you will". BESIDES ALREADY THINKING ABOUR DUSKNOIR WAY MOEE THAN ANYONE ELSE.
he goes up to partner during the sunrise and goes "thinking about dusknoir?" whilw it turns out partner is thinking of how much they love the beach and their friend 😭😭 and then grovyle says in his letter "hey watch out for dusknoir bc he WILL BE BACK I KNOW HIM" and hero and partner jusr go "oh yeah that guy. remember that guy??" like THEY DONT REMEMBER WHO TRIED TO KILL THEM A DAY AGO?? 😭😭 why they dgaf lmao)
So yeah. I care about them a normal amount xD.

adding to my last ask, the rest of the album is so similar to the Batfam
Loves like Ghosts - Batcat or BruTalia
Until the Night Turns - Dick (the vibes esp)
Dead Man’s Hand - Jason
-> pretty obvious why 💀. I see it as Jason talking abt his old self with the “tired of a life that never felt like his” line
Hurricane (Johnnie’s theme) - Dick, Jason, and Steph(Cass)
-> I mostly saw it as Stephcass but there were definitely lyrics that applied to Dick (thrill) and Jason (dying lol)
La Bella Fleur Sauvage - DickBabs
The World Ender - Steph (with the romantic lines being shaded between Cass and Gotham) or Jason (with the romantic lines being completely abour Gotham)
-> I feel like it fits Jason better bc it’s literlaky abour being back from the grave but alas
Meet Me in the Woods - Tim(Bern)
The Yawning Grave - ALFRED AND BRUCE ALFRESH AND BRUCE. This is so important to me omg
Cursed - where “she” is Gotham and the speaker is any of the Batfam (sans Cass I think)
Way out There - Damian (“I’m just wearing old bones from those who came first”) (“you” being Dick) or StephCass from Cass’s pov
The Night We Met - the BatSiblings (sans Duke bc he wasn’t adopted yet) during Bruce’s death
There weren’t any I could connect to Duke specifically but yeah 😞
Loves Like Ghost definitely gives of Talia to Bruce vibes. The lyrics of "what ain't living can never really die. You don't want me baby please don't lie. Oh but if you're leaving, I gotta know why." "And if I can't have you then no one ever will." "Baby in my eyes you do no wrong. I don't feel it till it hurts sometimes. So go on baby hurt me tonight."
Until the Night Turns is a cool song. Perhaps you would elaborate more on why you think it fits Dick? The vibes are pretty on, but jot too sure about the lyrics.
Dead Man's Hand does fit Jason. "Sure as hell he was dead as they come and he was already starting to smell. Just a kid with his hair slicked back and a knife tucked into his belt. Was he unforgiven or just tired of living a life that never felt like his?" "I know I'm dead but I don't wanna lie in a grave out here where the coyote's cry. I stared right into the endless void and I ain't going back if I got any choice. I know how to live, I don't know how to die and there ain't no thrills in the afterlife."
Hurricane. I do think that all of the batkids are adrenaline junkies but I do see how the lyrics fit those ones especially.
La Bella Fleur Savage - Google says Fleur means both flower and resilience. I can see how that fits Babs and how the song resembles her love with Dick.
The World Ender - I love this song for Steph. She deserves to get her revenge. She did kind of die with Black Mask, but she didn't really do a revenge thing like Jason. On the other hand she "won't ever feel the embrace of the grave" because she revived before being buried.
Meet Me in the Woods - I see how this is TimBern especially because Bernard isn't in the vigilante business (so he won't really understand what Tim's been through).
The Yawning Grave - Alfred warning Bruce not to become Batman, of its dangers, of the likelihood of him dying, fits so well. He told him when he was a kid, but Bruce still went down with this path
Cursed - I agree that Cass isn't tied to Gotham like the others. If "she" was Gotham, that does fit the others. I raise you, though. What if "she" was their mission or vigilantism? That then fits all of them.
Way out There - Oof. That definitely fits Damian and I love that analysis of him.
The Night We Met - I agree, however, there's a tik tok that has an animation of this song. It absolutely kills my soul every time I see it. It has Bruce singing this about Jason: "I had all," Jason as Robin, "and then most of you," Jason dying, "some and," Jason's grave, "now none of you," Jason as Red Hood. "Take me back to the night we met." The tire jacking night.
We definitely need some Duke songs out there. If anyone has any songs that fit Duke, feel free to comment or reblog with them!!!!

(I hope this isn’t pressuring/overwhelming I just want chat about it! And if you don’t sorry!!)
hello!! and not at all
the current word count is like 70k or something like that!! the first lines are nothing interesting ashfjw i would attach a sc but the document is so big it breaks my phone
ive taken a break from it because the idea of posting it gives me anxiety ahfhfb. my favorite part so far is definitely one of the fight scenes !! i dont want to spoil between who and what but just know its so romantic shfjwbd
the vibe is very lighthearted!!! ultimately prince todoroki is a story about class differences in romance and government. its more romance heavy as is but i might alter it to be more class focused
i actually would love to get some feedback on how people feel abour stories with a lot of OCs 😭 they’re not super relevant aside from being readers family so we interact w thwm a lot but

I FINISHED READING PASSENGERS!
I need you to make it real and get someone who’s good at watercolours to make pretty illustrations for every page. Like those special editions of novels. That’s just the vibes I get from it, especially with the all fanart in it already.
It’s just so good. It’s summer, it’s that warmth on your skin. It’s so melancholic at first and I just love the references to how being in the public eye is like. I adore fics that explore what its like being famous for them pre and post reveal. Then as it lightens and they reach and understand and they start having fun. They start caring a little less, being a little freer. AND THEN THEM FINALLY REALISING THE FEELINGS. OH, my heart.
Also just the attention to detail with the routes and places they stay and visit. It’s so reminiscent of holidays I’ve had abroad, that certain anxiety of being out of depth but also just the joy of seeming new horizons. Ah!
Lmao So much love for this fic <3<3
HELLO?!
I nees you to know i.ve had a shotty day and this absolutely erased all the shittiness oh my fucking god i.m bursting legit squealing over here
I AM SO HAPPY YOU LIKED IT AND YEAH YEAH YEAH I WANT IT TO BE REAL AND HAVE SPECIAL EDITION ILLUSTRATIONS TOO, BELIEVE ME
Maybe i should start. Like. Acrually painting. Sjdjejdjskskks
Fun fact i.ve been toying with the idea of turning it into a complete au. Like, rewrite it, but erase the magical aspects in there so it can be its own story sjdjskdjskd
AND YEAH THIS REALLY IS THE PERFECT TIME TO READ IT ISN.T IT? Half my june playlist consists of passengers songs and you have no idea how much they're sending me into that atmosphere i.m so happy you feel the vibe too aaaaaaaa
And i.m so so so happy you enjoyed the details i really poured my sweat and tears and time into this and aaaa i could talk about this all day oh my god
Thank you so so so much for reading it and for telling me abour your experience you really have no idea how you brightened my day

WOOOOO LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO
Foolish hangs out during bird bath time sometimes. Hes not really bathing just vibing there.
The humans get pulled into nap time/ preening sessions/ bath times all the time. Theyre a little confused and clumsy about them but its good bonding time and theyre having fun.
(A good thought: jaiden taught roier how to preen her wings and when spiderbit got married cellbit was very excited to learn it too they are a family your honour)
The little flutterwings are good for flight practice for when their own wings grow stronger
You know how baby goats love climbing? And when you crouch they will climb on you? So egg coded <3
Forever getting head pats and belly rubs. Thats it thats the tweet.
Everything abour slimes in this post.
(Also thought this was about slimecicle but it wasnt. Anyway slimecicle)
Tumblr media
Roier webbing up people who annoy him
Roier webbing up the eggs and hanging them upside down because they find it fun
The birds sleep in beds, usually, but sometimes the nest jitteries happen and they pile random stuff from their house on the floor or couch. Its nest time babey
Also just. Getting sniffed by the hybrids all the time. The hybrids do it for hybrid reasons, and the humans are used to it, but sometimes the hybrids will sniff someone, pull a face and not say anything on purpose, just to fuck with them
Now unleash your wisdom upon me i am completely normal and sane about this :)
I love having non-human headcanons for the qsmp members, especially for silly dumb reasons
I’m just saying, the image I just got of Roier trying to do a courtship dance for Cellbit and Cellbit not knowing wtf he’s doing bc they’re totally different animals is pretty funny
Or, I’ve had this idea for a while now, all the ones with wings gently tapping on the eggs or even each other as a sign of greeting.
Example: Bad goes to see Philza and they stand side by side and lightly touch their wings together, like a handshake almost! This could be done with tails too, that’s be cute,,,
Lmao Foolish’s love language being just straight up biting, Baghera and Quackity going into water yet somehow come out fully dry, AUGH THIS IS SUCH A GOOD IDEAAAAA
Or all the hybrids going up to people and softly head-butting them for attention, and then the eggs pick up on it and now they’ve started gently bumping into people to get their attention ahhh,,,, this is adorable,,,

@fictionadventurer and @magpie-trove in particular, but several other people on here, too, have recently sparked a lot of discussion about Christian (speculative) fiction, writing and worldbuilding, which of course has resulted in the  @inklings-challenge (which is a fabulous idea!), and I thought it would be nice to make some lists of reading recommendations (and discussions) for fiction in a similar vein. I have a few recs, but I would also very much like to find and learn more.
That is, I would really like some discussion (as well as recommendations for books) abour the other Inklings, authors who influenced them and were influenced by them, as well as other authors of high-quality Christian fantasy and science-fiction. And perhaps other kinds of fiction, too. Not the typical sappy and preachy kind that fills up Goodreads lists labeled Christian fiction, but substantial literature. Perhaps in the sense of a, say, casual little study group. A mix of a sharing of reading recommendations and information, as well as mutual discussion and analysis.
C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien and G. K. Chesterton are the inspiration for the three teams in the Inklings Challenge, and of course we all either have read (something by) them, or, if not, are at least actively aware of their works.
Other Inklings, aside from Lewis and Tolkien, are less famous, but always interesting to have a look at, although I must admit that I am only vaguely familiar with most of them, except for Charles Williams, who is of course one of the least conventional (though especially interesting) Inklings.
As for writers who influenced the Inklings, there’s George MacDonald, of course—always worth a look, as a writer and theologian, and also in the way his work left a mark on modern literature. There are, of course, many famous and great writers who influenced the Inklings, but George MacDonald is one of the few whose own work (at least large portions of it!) falls distinctly into the niche of Christian fantasy, rather than other genres and mindsets which might form seperate influences on a Christian writer of fantasy literature.
Pre-Tolkien/Lewis fantasy in a modern sense of the genre is not as rare as many people make it seem to be, but writing that fits into very specific categories if always a bit difficult to find, so finding out more pre-Inkling authors of these genres is, in my opinion, very interesting. A fascinating read is Lud-of-the-Mist, an early fantasy novel by Catholic author Hope Mirlees, which certainly inspired The Hobbit (and also Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and Stardust, but that’s a different matter, of course). It’s an overlooked classic, and far more influential than famous.
A writer I greatly admire, who was definitely influenced by several Inklings, and who possibly influenced or inspired some of them, is Elizabeth Goudge. It is her adult novels which are particularly brilliant, but only her (very lovely) children’s books fall into the fantasy genre. She is, in my opinion, one of the very special ones, and the way she includes a Christian worlview in her books is, I dare say, a prime example of effective and artful Christian writing without being preachy or awkward. She and Dorothy L. Sayers (who didn’t write fantasy, as far as I know) are two female authors who truly belonged among the Inklings.
Rumer Godden is also of interest—mostly realistic fiction for adults and speculative fiction for children, similarly to Elizabeth Goudge—and effectively Catholic—although, to me, much less Inkling style. Not in quality of her writing or its religious influence. That is not what I mean—it is rather a matter of her vibe. So to speak. You might know what I mean, or maybe not, it’s of no consequence anyway, I just meant that Rumer Godden is a writer of interest who is not an Inkling more (more or less) of their generation, and of excellent, always Christian, sometimes speculative fiction.
Brings me to another obvious one—Madeleine L’Engle. Also no Inkling vibes, but she is clearly influenced by MacDonald, which... does not exactly close a circle but also shows what I mean with the many different ways a Christian worldview (which naturally includes differing opinions and thoughts and ideals) can be worked into fiction, and especially in fantasy and sci-fi.
But you might already be seeing what I am getting at: these are (safe for Goudge and Mirrlees, perhaps) the usual choices. There are others, which I am certainly aware of but not too familiar with, and then some whose writing is either not strictly Christian (even if they technically are Christians) or fantasy (even if it’s not harshly realistic).
But although I read lots of (meaning preferably) Christian writers, and a good deal of fantasy, it’s that specific intersection which, even though it initially sparked my love for reading, that I really don’t know very much about. Possibly because my issue with lots of modern Christian fantasy is the same as my problem with modern Christian romances—an odd, sometimes dubious, interpretation of what is supposed to be a Christian mindset clunkily thrown into a luke-warm story. But that, of course, is also practically what started the discussion I referred to at the beginning of my post (and in which I did not participate at all).
I am sorry that this is such a muddled post, I just had some thoughts on the matter and wanted to share them somehow. Perhaps some of you might find that sort of discussion interesting, anyway.
