the way jean mentions neil has me actively suicidal i cannot lie. cus like yes jean is leaning on jeremy and the trojans for healing but it's neil's words that he falls back on over and over again because its what Neil said that has even ALLOWED jean to give himself the grace to lean on other people and "deserve to get better". especially post reacher confrontation it rlly does just hammer in the point that despite the fact neil was never a raven and jean has jeremy rn neil is STILL jean's partner. neil is the one protecting jean and the one jean is allowing himself to fall back on when everything gets too much. even the way their families are being tied together just entertwines them more and its like. you get all these little moments where it's clear that jeaneil aren't actually misplaced despite it all they're still partners.

[ inspired by something I saw on tumblr/bot on j.ai made by erosmutt. ]

[ I don’t think this is in chronological order of the saga but if it is then yippee!! ]

[ no cullens. rosalie, jasper, emmett, alice, esme, and carlisle exist but under different names. no y/n. 3rd person. doesn’t mention reader being a Swan, but you could imagine it that way. not proof-read. I think my math was lowkey off by a little bit LMFAO ]

໒: Sam Monroe became a vampire back in 2001. He would have been 42 if he was actually alive now, but he's stuck in his 16 year old body. The young boy was hospitalized after an overdose and was dying. What nobody knew was that one of the doctors at that hospital was immortal. He had created a “family” of vampires before even reaching Sam. The young boy grew on the Dr. Kevin in a short amount of time, leading to biting Sam and turning him into a vampire before he reached death.

໒: Another year in high school. Hes learned everything already (only 20 years after he died did he actually pay attention) and now he could actually not pay any attention to his teachers, but still know the answer to every question he was asked.

໒: Sam is a 40 year old man. He's matured since he was 16. Now he doesn't skip class, does his work on time, cooperates on group assignments without fussing—he does everything he didn't do all that time ago. He still prefers to keep to himself, though.

໒: What seemed like his millionth junior year, you switched to his highschool in Forks. You were in his biology class and of course the teacher had to sit you next to him. He kept his eyes to himself but he so desperately wanted to get a better look at you. Sam had only glanced at you when you walked in, but he knew you were beautiful. You smelled great, too. One thing bothered him, though. He couldn't read your thoughts.

໒: Everytime you tried to make small talk with him, he never answered with real words. A shrug, shaking or nodding of the head.. thats all. He didnt even bother to spare a glance. He kept his eyes on his notebook where he would doodle things, and after that first day.. he didn't go to school for 2 weeks. Was it your fault? did you annoy him? a bunch of questions flooded your head.

“Do you guys know that Sam kid? pale skin and black hair with a blue stripe..” you ask the group of kids you started sitting with 2 weeks ago. “Who doesn't know him,” Avery, a girl with black hair and green eyes, answers you. “hes gorgeous.” she continued and smiled. “got your eyes on him or somethin’ ?” Jeremy, a dirty blonde with dark brown eyes, asks. “No,” you shake your head, furrowing your eyebrows. “I just.. sit with him in bio. He hasn’t been here since my first day.” Jeremy shrugs. “He dissappears a lot. Him and his siblings. Their dad likes to take them out everywhere out of town randomly.” he explains. “how many siblings does he have?” you asked Jeremy while picking at the split ends in your hair. “four, but they're like.. dating. its really weird.” Avery rolls her eyes. “They arent actually related. They're all adopted, so you know.. they arent blood.” she lets you in on what was going on between that family. “All those kids have different last names. They have the dads name, yeah, but they dont really use it. Its just there.” she says. “okay well its still really frickin weird. I mean, they sleep under the same roof. like, thats gotta be freaky.” Jeremy shakes his head. “just mind your business, jer.” Joanna, another girl who sat at the table groans.

໒: Just a few days after that conversation at lunch, Sam came back. He was sitting at the lab you two were assigned seated in, and once you walked in, he looked up at you. “Hi..” he starts off a few seconds after you sit in your stool. “Im Sam.. Monroe.” He introduces himself officially. “sorry I didnt get to introduce myself the other day. Im not good with talking to new people.” He confesses, still looking at you. “Its fine,” you assure him and look his way and introduce yourself to him. He managed to make a little bit more small talk after that.

໒: At lunch that day, you saw him sitting with his siblings. A girl with blonde hair whose name is Meli. Her boyfriend.. and adoptive brother, (yikes) Benny. Another boy and girl who were also 'together', Ryan and Julissa. Julissa had copper hair while Ryans hair was plain black. Your group was talking, but you zoned out while sneaking looks at Sam. His outfit today told you a lot about who he is. black cargo shorts, a green shirt underneath a metallica band T.. jewlery covering his wrists, neck, ears and mouth. He was some sort of punk, maybe.

໒: Overtime, he somewhat became your friend after months of trying to get to know him. Month 6 was when you found out his secret. It freaked you out, and it angered him because he knew thats how you'd act, but you just had to snoop around at libraries to read about immortals with cold skin, a diet of blood and lots of other things.

“I'm not afraid,” you tell him, but he knew it was a lie. He heard you heart racing. “You lie a lot. Not a good habit to fall into. Could get you into some serious trouble.” He walks behind you, but once you turn around.. he isnt there. you turn back around and find him standing in front of you, making you flinch. “how did–” “don't be stupid. you found me out so you know how I did that.” He towers over you. “You need to leave me alone. Dont talk to me again. Dont even look my way.” Sam mumbled. “You weren't supposed to find out.” “Anyone who isnt an idiot would know,” you snap back. “Well, congratulations, you arent an idiot. Want a cookie?” He sarcastically asks and walks off. You scoff and run after him. He wasnt using his super fast ability, but he still walked fast. “Sam, I cant just forget about this!” “try your very best, you can do it.” He replies. “Sam-” “shut the fuck up already, God damn!” He looks back at you. But something was off. He was sparkling in the sunlight that casted over him through the trees of the forest you two were in. “you sparkle?” you ask, trying to hold back all those jokes that came into your mind. “yeah, I use my sisters makeup everyday so I can shine.” He throws a sarcastic comment and rolls his eyes. “leave me alone.” but you didn't.

໒: “I'm like 40, you know that.” Sam smirks as you kiss his neck. “I shouldn't be seeing such an old man.. its gross.” you laugh, looking up at him. “super gross, but atleast I look seventeen, right?” he smiles. “sixteen.” you correct. “whatever,” he rolls his eyes and kisses you. Sam felt guilty. He felt like he was taking advantage of you because of how much older he is.. but it quickly went away when you stuck your tongue in his mouth.

໒: Sam hates your friend, Josh. Hes a fucking wolf.. he smells, isnt nearly as good looking as himself, he just.. he isnt trustworthy. “you dont trust me?” you ask Sam when he told you not to go with Josh to ride his motorcycle. “I do,” he shakes his head and looks at Josh. “Its him I dont trust.” Josh was in love with you, Sam wasnt stupid. He knew that you wouldn't leave him for Josh, but.. it still irked him how you still hung out with Joshua, knowing how much Sam didnt like him.

໒: Sam was the one to get you high for the first time. You've used drugs before, but not properly so it never had an effect. Even when Sam is fucking dead hes ruining his body. (not really..)

໒: Sam prefers to talk problems out but sometimes he just gets so angry that he cant help but yell at you. He goes too far sometimes and he doesn't apologize right away either. He just leaves and doesnt return for a few hours.. even days. He tries his best to make it up to you afterwards though.

໒: Hes always blasting his music in his airpods, room, car.. literally everywhere hes at. When you hangout in his room, theres always his playlist in the background.. but not on full volume so you could hear each other.

“I wont do it. You're crazy.” Sam says while looking for something in his drawer. You wanted him to turn you into a vampire judt like him but he hated the idea. “You're not gonna want me when im all wrinkly and disgusting.” you argue. Sam looks back at you with an irritated look. “you dont get how I feel about you, huh? I dont fucking care. I'll always want you, it doesnt matter what you look like.” he rolls his eyes and starts digging again. “Sam,” “Say one more thing about it and im taking you home. I'd never fucking do that to you. You dont know what you want.”

໒: weeks after that conversation, Sam waited for you outside your house when you came back from school. He asked you to go on a walk with him, and he looked really upset.

“we're leaving Forks.” He says, leaning against a tree trunk. “Kevin is supposed to be 10 years older than he looks. People are starting to notice.” He says, crossing his arms. Your heart started beating fast. “okay.. so what do I tell my dad? how am I gonna leave with you?” You ask. Sam looks you dead in the eye. “you don't. you're staying, I cant take you with me.” you had been together almost a year and he was just leaving like that? “so you're breaking up with me?” tears swell in your eyes. Sam doesnt answer. “you're not.” you shake your head. “you cant leave me.” you sob and hug him. “I can and I am. Look, ive been meaning to break this off anyway. We dont make any sense, babe. You're gonna die one day and what am I gonna do? Its better if I leave and un-attach myself.” he shakes his head. “I promise it'll be like I never even existed. You'll forget about me. It wont hurt you.” He looks down at you.

It really was like he never existed after a month that he left. No one talked about him or his family, your texts weren't going through to him or his siblings, your dad didnt ask about him and neither did Josh. Sam was gone. He was beginning to become a figment of your imagination. But he wasnt truly gone. You didnt really forget about him.

The pain reminded you that he was real.

what will forever make skinamarink such a deeply disturbing movie (and one of my favorite horror films) is the way it presents its horror: children attempting to keep themselves safe and cope with their fear by pushing a couch in front of a hallway, using flashlights, surrounding themselves with toys and keeping cartoons on 24/7, etc. so painfully naive and utterly futile in stopping any real danger but when you’re that young, you truly believe things like covering yourself with a blanket will keep the monsters away! it’s such a universal thing too and everytime i watch i feel myself plunged back down into that pure and carnal fear as a child when faced with total silence and darkness. and the entity knows this!! it’s like a cat playing with its food: allowing kevin to call 911 when the line was disconnected far earlier in the film, appealing to kevin by asking to play when it just wants to hurt him, slowly taking away his toys. it recognizes what kevin is attempting to do and simply uses these moments to instill more fear in kevin, stripping away every comfort or sliver of hope until there’s nothing left.

you had the biggest crush on jey us. everyone knew it. well, everyone except jey himself.

in your mind, he saw you like a best friend or a sister, not someone he would date. you saw the type of girls he would date and that didn’t include you.

but it didn’t matter to you. you loved being friend with him and the fact that now you were in the same feud against the judgment day together made the things a little more excited.

it was sami, seth, jey and cody against jd, dominik, damian and finn but who was against rhea? it was jey idea to have you on the team and everyone agreed. in sami’s mind it was easier for you to confess your feelings to jey if you were working together practically every day.

you and rhea were friends in real life and she knew about your crush, so the way she constantly teased you and jey on live tv was something that she was doing just to make you jealous and confess but it never worked.

something went wrong one night on raw. you and rhea were supposed to have a match against each other. you knew you weren’t going to win, not against her anyway but you didn’t care. that’s how things were supposed to be and everyone in your team knew it. you just needed to fight in order to creat a mess between your team and rhea’s.

it was supposed to be everyone against everyone and you already saw the boys walking towards your ring when the judgment day come out of nowhere and attacked your team. just like planned.

except, something went terrible wrong.

you were still in the ring with rhea. you were a little too distracted by the chaos that was coming out, from rhea screaming, the crowd screaming, jey screaming, everyone screaming, that you didn’t hear rhea behind you to finish the match between the two of you when she grabbed you and landed you on the ground.

you were distracted. you weren’t ready for that and so you didn’t prepare for the final move. and when it happened you couldn’t move from the ring.

it wasn’t the first time rhea and you competed against each other and everytime you used to smile at her when she won over you. this time you didn’t. that was when rhea knew something was wrong.

your back and neck were hurting, you felt blood coming over your ears and your head was ringing. your vision was blurry and you couldn’t hear what was happening in the arena in that moment.

rhea was terrified but she couldn’t show it. she couldn’t break character so she just took the win and went to damian who was against jey to let him know that something was wrong with you.

damian stopped beating jey the moment he ran on the ring.

everyone stopped.

the arena was on mute.

you were surrounded by medical stuff that were talking to you but you had no idea of what they were saying.

jey tried to talk to you but you couldn’t focus.

“hey hey y/n…” he panicked a little “can you hear me?” but of course you couldn’t answer “c’mon princess…talk to me…” he was about to cry, he didn’t want to break in front of everyone but he was terrified of the outcome.

everyone was worried about you. the judgment day were too - in the end, you were all great friends and seeing you like that made them hurt.

seth was about to cry when he saw you like that. he was the one who trained you when you first joined wwe, you were like a little sister to him.

jey was the one to bring you backstage and into the ambulance that was already waiting for you. the show had to go on but jey wasn’t going to be there.

the ambu rushed towards the hospital. you fainted in jey’s arms before he could get you on the ambulance and he never being that terrified in his whole life.

“please do something for her!” he kept shouting and the nurse had to move him away from your body so they could work on you.

once inside the hospital, it took a whole stuff to keep jey away from the room you’ve been taken to.

“i need to see her! you-you don’t understand…i need to see her, i need to be with her…” he almost cried. he couldn’t handle being away from you, he couldn’t handle you being hurt and in pain.

the doctors explained him that they needed to run a few more tests before they could let him see you. but it took them almost five hours for all those tests and he swore he was going crazy not knowing what was wrong with you.

seth texted him. cody texted him. basically everyone texted him and he had no idea what to say to them.

“you can see her now, she’s, well…she’s not awake yet” the doctor told jey.

“but she will wake up right?” jey almost panicked

“she hit her head very bad while in the ring…we will keep you updated” was all the doctor said before leaving jey alone.

he was terrified.

he needed you to wake up as soon as possible.

he slowly got into your room and he couldn’t handle it anymore. he started crying. he didn’t care if the doctors saw him like that. all he wanted was to hold you into his arms.

he sat next to you and got your small and fragile hand into his bigger one.

“hey beautiful…” he whispered “i know you can’t hear me right now but i need you to wake up, please, for me…i can’t live without you, i may be a little selfish but i need you in my life and i’m so fucking stupid for not telling you how much i love you…” he confessed “i wish i told you sooner…but i was scared of ruining our friendship and i can’t handle not having you in my life. y/n, you gotta wake up…please” he kept begging and he didn’t realise he fell asleep right in the chair next to you.

he was too tired to go back home and in all honesty he didn’t want to leave you.

“jey…” your raspy voice woke him up. he swore he was dreaming but he immediately sat straight when he felt your cold hand on his arm.

“oh my - hey beautiful…” he whispered “you’re awake…let me call a doctor” and with that he was out of the room.

the doctors visited you.

a few broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder and a concussion. it could have been worse.

it wasn’t a secret that you needed to rest and that you would be away from the ring for a few months.

“you scared the shit out of me y/n…” jey said “you scared everyone in the arena…hunter is still waiting news about you…”

“i’m sorry…i guess” you didn’t know what to say. you knew your job was a dangerous job and injuries were normal.

“it’s not your fault, what matters now is that you’re awake and okay, partially okay” he joked making you laugh.

“i heard you jey…”

“what?”

“what you said…do you really love me?” you asked him.

“fuck…i mean, i do but i don’t want to fuck up our friendship so if you don’t feel the same it’s okay i promise” he started mumbling when you stopped him.

“i love you too” you confessed.

“what?” he was speechless for the second time in just a few minutes.

“you heard that” you smiled.

he felt like he was dreaming “say it again please”

“this is the worst and best day of my life y/n” he said making you laugh.

“you should tell the boys that i’m awake…half broken but awake” you said and jey agreed.

once the news of you being okay came out, everyone was a little calmer.

“you need to rest for a few months and honestly i can’t wait to take care of you baby” jey teased you making you blush.

that night he stayed in the hospital bed with you, afraid that you would sleep and never wake up again. he needed to have you close, he needed to know that you were safe but you knew that his arms were the safest place on earth.

☆Why Gregor is so important than you think and the series' relationship with tone

Im obsessed with an old man and I have all reasons to be also I have to sleep but I really need to make a colleague of gregor photos as the header image-

◇Part 1 - How The Tonal Shifts happen to be

Episodes 1 to 3 was all silly fun, though we have the idea that the series is gonna have a progression to having a consistent plot and story since Episode 2 setting up the episode formula of events/segments:

Skid and Pump doing mischief around town, there's separate segments of major characters that they come across and the villain that sets up the plot - who are in concept supposed to be parodies of horror villain stereotypes.

And its all fitting in Pelo's style except its actually understandable and not have characters turn cartoonishly eldritch every 2 seconds.

Yknow we got SM 1 was an average pelo video then SM 2 is where we got the formula, everyone were just trope templates and the one that sets up the lore

SM3 is where things get normal but it's still silly, you can tell by the soundtrack, Moloch's theme is on dubstep it bangs BUT also introduces the Episode ending set up for its next villain.

Then SM4 happened. Oh Deadly Smiles my beloved, still my personal favorite

This where the good shit happens with different segments under 20+ minutes with finally having a grasp on how the episode formula works

Though this episode is kinda.. the chillest one among the episodes???

Everytime Skid and Pump goes around town with Spooky Swings playing, it's always fast paced and they immediatly go to the next in a few seconds but in Deadly Smiles, they take long stops before going to their next location. Most Characters also spend most of if not any of their screentime without Skid and Pump in it. [especially Kevin] it has its own unique tone and its cozy solely for it being winter themed.

Other than the more chill pacing, You got the rabid doll running place to place and getting thrown around to people to people to show what hes suppose to parody that when Dexter actually shows that he can be a threat is a really effective moment and really got me going "Oh shit OH SHIT"

But the scene that truly shaped Spooky Month the way it is now is the scene where he snaps at the kids, that moment is so important to the series because of the sudden change of tone to spooky/silly to scary. We couldn't see Dexter as a threat before this because the tone and plot prevents him to be one especially to poke out the trope of Doll killers but at this moment, the moment he expresses his situation and conditions, he went specific. and from there you don't see Dexter as a simple parody for the sake of being a parody anymore, Especially being a parody based on Chucky --who uses dolls on his advantage-- but For Dexter, below the surface is a man doomed from the circumstances that he desperately wanna get out of.

Episode 5 immediatly tells you its meant be atleast scary from the get-go since it was already established seconds into the episode, and only in the last minute with Lila it left us with an ominous note

Ok to be for real, I consider Episode 5 kinda standard compared to Ep 4 and 6 but is more better than the early 3 eps and I appreciate as the middle ground between Deadly Smiles and Hollow Sorrows. And also more cop screentime my luvs

And mainly the reason why I said this because of Bob. The villains of Spooky Month is always tied with the tone because they are the guys that bring the tension. Bob's kinda monotonic because his behaviour pattern in this episode is repetitive: He slowly approaches people, give them meat fact, dosent or fails to kill them, gets slapped with slapstick. Even at the climax where he's actually at his most effective by being actually terrifying, he still gets disrupted for comedic purposes.

He has a balance of being actually terrifying and being a parody by his slow movement trying to set up tension.

Incomparison to Dexter, yea he gets thrown around but they get to take him seriously at the right moment and being thrown around to different people showing this disadvantage will show you the wide range of what the characters will do with the doll, Bob just scares them throughout the episode.

And I can't be mad about it because Bob purposefully is doing that to distract the cops from the cult case especially thinking he can't die.

But Bob is still effective as a villain. He manages to get you on edge and also opens questions to more lore stuff. And this episode is also the most creepiest because of Bob's behaviour along with that Lila encountering him along with finding out he's in her photo book probably shaped Lila to her behaviour in episode 6.

Still a good ep. Alot of insight of other characters' lives is my main highlight of this ep

Then Episode 6 has Father Gregor finally established as a proper character now that's where the interesting THING starts;

◇Chapter 2: Why is he weird in a weird show

When Father Gregor is on screen, do you feel.. put off especially when he's first introduced into the episode? Like when we were first introduced to doll Dexter with actual spinechilling ost and visuals we were already accustomed to this to be something expected through the Newgrounds endings with its ominous tone, expecting to transition it to the main story especially in with Tender Treats being almost that except more heightened.

But with Gregor, I don't have the exact words to explain the tonal dissonance he gives us. He has a very clear leimotif soundtrack throughout the episode everytime he's on screen even disrupting themes of other characters or locations [like the candy club like what the fuck gregor excuse yourself] that it even turns to a more epic variation of itself with Moloch's exorcism.

since this guy has seconds of screentime on his 1st debut,he's unpredictable especially when each episode has a formula of events with characters that we are familiar off. and we know that there is atleast something goofy going on with them - except for the cops but for them they act silently or accompany moments with the characters - But Gregor dosent accompany character moments he's the goddamn spotlight, the emphasis on his scenes are on HIM like out of nowhere we got this guy coming along. Its kinda of a new breathe of air to have him around because we never got anyone else to come along with the Spookeez all around town and setting up their dynamic with the kids.

Oh and finally we simply state the whole point of Gregor and why he's so out of place -- his seriousness. He was never associated with the series' shenanigans, and questions his surroundings. He dosent enable himself with the series' comedy and at somepoint that it tries to bring him along for a second with the spooky dance. Hes not only unfamiliar in story wise but by environment wise. there was a little analysis essay I made a while back with how Gregor as a person in the setting is off to the townsfolk as they are mostly unfamiliar with Religious figures as the church was newly built, and everybody else never acknowledges his presence as a priest — Kevin and Frank calls him an old guy/man Radford dosent take him seriously because he mostly seen priests through movies, Jack has to ask if Gregor is one and Skid and Pump dosent know how the term father works in the church that even tells something. Only a few characters recognizes his role as a priest being Michelle, John, and Evermore.

Now let's move onto Gregor not following the goddamn script of being part of a parody

Ep 6 has the basics of a parody of exorcism movies: demon - check, priest - check, the victim check that's your main elements, but they never utilises these as.. parodies, because when one of the core elements acts like a normal guy and has a standard behaviour of a priest in those kinds of movies that wasnt exagerrated for the parody and has never been that early into the series to being so associated with the silliness of it making fun of horror. We had time with Moloch since Episode 1, 2 and 3 We witness his time from being just a gimmick character to being one of the mysteries and coming back as a serious threat.. or is he? Because on the 2nd half of the episode, Moloch's running away from Gregor, and attempts to fight back by trying to possess anyone on his way but in the end Moloch is defeated and the kids seeing this breaks their relationship with Gregor. At this point he himself is also an antagonist.

With Gregor breaking the law of parodies, and also breaking the traditional set up of villains for this series, he also differs alot of the standard priest character that he's supposed to be because usually those characters cannot exist outside of being the guy battling the supernatural forces—they are not the main focus. With Gregor, he's more than just an exorcist as for the most part we see him as a normal priest first, exorcist second. he's so determined in his job that any threat given to him makes him more motivated and half of the episode he spends his time teaching the kids to behave.

We already established Gregor as a villain so what else is weird about this bald fuck

From Episode 4 we now get ourselves a consistent line of villains with Dexter being a strong start with the earlier mentioned being the guy responsible for the main story's tonal whiplash

Dexter, Moloch and Bob are villains with their main thing and concept as something terrifying — Dexter's an insane doll, Bob's a cannibal butcher and Moloch's a child eating demon who gives terrible side effects at something he possessed dead or alive.

Horror villains always relied in creating tension to make anyone scared. Dexter creates tension with his uncanny presence as a doll, along with his fast movements contrasting this with Bob, being slow and uses psychological intimidation than being fast, and watches his victims reacting to the situation their put into. Then for Moloch, he is tied with Gregor because how he creates tension is in complimentary with him.

The scary thing about Moloch comes from the ARGs mostly since that's where they build him up as a serious thing to handle in the series after Episode 3, but unfortunately for him as his debut as a serious threat has to be shared with just a dude

OK Moloch's scenes relies on a psychological effect because of his ability to possess people which he possess characters we seen before and are individuals. If you think about Dexter, we saw him killed off for a fucking joke then proceeds to be a threat for a whole episode by the result of his decreasing sanity of being stuck inside a doll. then you realize he's also someone's son. Both got killed by Moloch and used their images as his best attempt to manipulate Gregor which only angers him and makes him more determined to finish him off. Even psychological moves dosent work on him. Now at that point, Moloch lost the hold of the tension's weight. Rather than heightening a terrifying scene like a typical spiritual fight scene, Gregor steals it and heightens it by what made him unnatural since the start – he's constant seriousness that defies the the overall tone that it becomes a keypoint from the episode onwards, making Moloch run away.

Their last confrontation has Gregor on the upper hand with a successful exorcism and a banger of an ost that I still think about to this day, and it was never something to replicate horror. They were no terrific aftermath or a good ending, only the tears of children that comes after it, a dislikeness to the religious figure, and an awareness to how the series' main thing of silliness and chaos was all from an unsupervised kid and a bit carefree mother.

◇Chapter 3: the old man has a hold on the narrative

At the start of Episode 6, We were dismissed with a moment with Skid and Lila, about her situation arranging the house and Skid's Dad with her distracting Skid to go play with Pump. We know somethings off but this was already delivered from the ending of Episode 5.

Gregor states himself at the start as a guide to the children to reflect and be better, but how he delivers this wasn't clear to Skid and Pump and goes around apologising with no single thought other than this being important to their parents. The episode's main point was because of Father Gregor assisting the kids.

then the second that they got the parent thing shoved to their faces is with the cops, also one of the more grounded characters in the series but again they enable the goofiness of the series especially with Jack and his lowkey high kill count- Now that's when the themes of family are very stressed with the whole thing now about to ingrain in Skid and Pump's head.

Now to the scene where Skid and Pump cries for Moloch and now hates Gregor. It's all on him – he leaves without the need of approval but get his message and judgements clear. As he leaves the main cast and onto the church, he's finally at his most vulnerable. the tension spotlight is not on him anymore and has no control of the atmosphere as the Cult comes into the scene.

But what he does have control of was the effect he gave on the kids as his message of apologising and reflecting was the episode's ending note. Not only that, We got the tonal shift to scary, serious to bawling our tears out?? It was implied throughout the episode that the themes of family, especially broken ones are strong and the last scene of Skid apologising and hugging his mom was the perfect completion to build all of that. Not only the tension between Moloch, and Gregor is there the other important thing was the emotional tension.

This signals that Gregor's presence was such an impact that it still lingers, like the piano at the last scene that he's always accompanied with in the soundtrack. in the end it shaped the kids that gives a significant emotional weight into the narrative from now on.

And what do we do now if Skid and Pump finally reflected?? Will things change? Will they not go out and do havoc anymore? Will things lose the general comedic feel to something more serious? We don't know

But it's all really thanks to Father Gregor Raguel.

Conclusion:

Tldr: Gregor is so odd to the show because of how serious he is that it extends to him breaking in series and horror traditions to the fucking narrative of making the series have some emotional weight

Early seasons of SPN are superior

so I'm re-watching Supernatural (I'm always re-watching SPN, don't mind me) and I realised why the early seasons are so freakin good whereas the laters ones are a complete mess...

Horror was the core theme of Supernatural (yes, I'm not discarding the brothers' drama, I'll get to it in a minute). These beautiful scare tactics that they employed were amazing: the crib mobile toy rotating, shadows moving out of the corner of the eyes, toys going off, subtle bloody Mary reflections in the mirror, creepy skulls dug from the ground, the ghosts flickering. Hell yea they nailed 'Scary just got sexy' with these.

Don't get me started on the background music. Whimsical music crescendo, building up the anticipation. The rock music blaring through the Impala. What happened to the cool ass music in the later seasons? They just played this weird, sad tune like someone's blowing raspberries to show grief and that's it!

Monster of the week theme and the lores/legends in early seasons were much, much better than S12's Foundry or the later season episode with bizarre tentacle porn thingy (you know which one I'm talking about). It just didn't feel the same. The stories were poorly written and even more poorly executed.

Early seasons used to be purely about Sam and Dean (as it should have been throughout) Them against the world, heaven and hell. No dumbass angel lurking in the background like a pathetic third wheel. No king of hell bitching about his sad childhood for two whole seasons. No Soccer mom half assing their way into hunting.

Foreshadowing was done so beautifully! Everytime I re-watch the early seasons I find a few bits that connects to something that happened initially in say S1-2. The parallels are done beautifully and writing is good, and I mean 'I wanna use this quote as a wallpaper' good.

The struggle for the boys was real. They had to do their own research, save their own asses, stitch their wounds, pop their dislocated shoulders back in the place. Later seasons? Bunker has answer to everything, angel healing wounds with a flash of light, Lucifer bringing Sam back from the dead without asking for anything (and no, taking him to Jack is not a good enough bargain), Jack healing wounds or whatever. Where is the damn struggle?! Where is the hero's journey?!

I miss the beautiful, colourful motel rooms that had its own personality. I HATE the bunker (yes I know a lot of people love it because Dean has a good shower, they have a home etc, etc) but no! Bunker is lame and boring and monotonous. There isn't a single thing I like about it. Gimme back my motel rooms with the sunburst mirror!

Story arc or lack thereof from S12 onwards. The main plot just got duller and duller from S12 onward and it felt like the writers got lazy and stopped putting efforts. There was no build up and the plot felt forced. The main arcs didn't feel exciting enough. BMoL and Kelly's pregnancy: the who and why? Jack: predictable. Other Micheal and Micheal Dean: meh, next! God as the big bad: interesting but I don't think they have it in them to execute this correctly.

Irrelevant/Unnecessary characters and their mini plots. S1-5 focuses purely on the brothers and that's what I'm here. I don't care how and why an idiot angel opened purgatory. It sounded more like a dull spin off plot than main story arc. I don't care about prophets and their lives (yeah Kevin is in Advance Placement, what am I to do with that?). I don't care about the different angel garrisons at war (again a plot for a lame spin off). I don't care about Crowley, his son or his relationship with Rowena. Tell me how this affects the boys. If it doesn't, please let's move on. Whatever was going on with Cole Trenton was pointless. I don't care about Mary and her hunting escapades with BMoL. I don't care about Kelly's pregnancy. The multi-universe and all characters they vomited back in the show with this. Not needed! Let Charlie, Gabriel and Bobby's memory rest in peace. Nick's killer storyline and wayward sisters. Enough said. Empty and the deal with Cas and Meg 2.0? Boring! Billy playing the bad cop, the whole death's library? Poorly executed and it turned into a bowl of cold spaghetti. In the end, the focus moved from the boys to useless characters and mini plots. Fuck that! Supernatural is about Sam and Dean and that's about it.

The direction. Later seasons lack the beauty of scenic shots of the landscape, close on up the boys' faces, the lights hitting their faces to show their beauty. Camera angles and slow panning shots. I miss the beauty that were the early seasons.

I don't know anything about the raven AUs or what the extra content has to say but can you imagine if Jean, Kevin, Neil and Andrew were all at evermore at once, because ive been dwelling on it. It would be endless fights. Fists would fly so often. We'd have the whole kevjean situationship plus the andreil mess that is them. Also, jeaneil would be THE power couple. If they had been partners for years, can you imagine the brutality of their insults, oml. I would never want to piss them off or youd just be thrown through the nine rings of hell that is verbal abuse.

And if Andrew still made the deal for nicky and Aaron (not sure that would work but its something to consider)

Would Aaron and Andrew be partners? How would they handle all their problems if they are stuck together 24/7? Do you think Aaron would still fall in love? Would Andrew take medical classes so Aaron can be a doctor? Do you this Aaron has PTSD, thinking of Talia everytime a beating happens?

Dont even get me started on how it would destroy Nicky. He is not built to handle any of that. Plus what Riko would do to him and Andrew, eventually even to Neil. Riko caught Jean by simple looks and Andrew constantly pointed out "that" look on Neil, they would be fucked.

But it would be so intresting to read.

and he has no one there for him

its not until the next day, when he doesn't show up for work, and jean is the first to take notice

bc neil was too anxious, too afraid, too wrapped up in his head, to realize that no, not everyone hated him

in fact his first year intern friends where all backing him up, they knew better than anyone how hard he worked everyday, how good he was on his own

(and jean knew first hand how down to earth he was, how he didn't delight himself in riches and gold or whatever, how scared he was of failing)

and today his residents are if anything, madder bc he didn't show up, madder bc they think he's slacking just bc of his name

jeans makes up some bullshit about him being sick, how he was going to call the chief later, just so the other doctors dont shit on neil anymore, even if he isn’t there to listen to him

(and btw before you ask why all the doctors are mad, its bc most doctors are really fucking competitive ajdjdk jealousy is literally weaponized in there, its insane to witness that irl as a med student)

despite robin and katelyn's advice, jean approaches kevin (ehh lets say they knew each other as kids not sure what role the moriyamas will play in this, if any), and asks him if he knows where neil is, bc he knows they were together

and well, kevin shuts down his feelings, still feeling hurt, still feeling like its their fault neil didn't trust them, and just tells jean to never approach him to ask personal matters anymore, lowkey kinda threatens him about not telling anyone they were with neil bc its over now

and jean

well jean is pissed

and he gives kevin crap, nevermind that kevin is several years his superior, and tells him that he understands them being pissed but that shunning neil out when literally almost everyone at the hospital seems like they are against neil at the moment, gives him shit about how they were supposed to stand by neil not toss him aside like garbage

jean leaves him mostly mortified also kinda defeated and just still pissed but... ashamed too, as he turns jeans words around his head and well, he can't help but feel guilty, even if andrew never believes in guilt

but of course when he tries to call neil, it goes straight to voicemail, most likely turned off or dead or maybe neil just blocked him, he probably feels like he deserves that

and andrew is also lowkey pissed at first, when kevin confronts him, bc he's hurt and he thinks trust and honesty are very very important in order for their thing to work, so he kinda lowkey refuses to call neil, for which kevin gets mad at him and storms off, leaving andrew alone just enough for him to actually go through what kevin (what jean) said, just enough for something that he refuses to call guilt to eat at his resolve

just enough for him to actually try calling neil

not that it matters, as he gets sent to voicemail

so he goes to the interns' locker room, where everyone but jean and smalls are getting changed to leave for the night

which, shouldn't be it bc he knows for sure that moreau is on shift tonight, he's memorized their schedule to see when neil was available

not that that matters either, not anymore

it's unfortunately katelyn that notices him first, and yeah he's used to the wariness in her gaze everytime he has to interact with her (it's mutual, there's a whole hospital and she has to want to be with his brother?), but this time there's outright scorn

"where's moreau?"

"he left early today"

"he's on shift tonight," he says even though that's not why he cares where he is

"he switched with janie"

he doesn't even reply back, not that she was of any fucking use, and goddam how the fuck is he supposed to call and locate moreau, or more importantly neil , it's not like either he or kevin know where he lives, or actually know much about him as evidently proved to them the day before

they don't know if he has comfort places, don't know if he has a favorite coffee shop, don't know if he has a favorite park

all he can do, painfully, is wait

because no one knows where neil is

and the only person who could know is gone

meanwhile, jean gets to neil's place, and thank fuck that neil gave him the keys to the apartment, because he's not answering the fucking door

and when he gets in, he can't help but wonder if maybe his friend left, if maybe he ran for good, if maybe he was so beat down that in a fit of panic he just fled

because the place is empty, just as it was the only time he'd been here before, and there's no proof anyone has been here, but... but his phone is on the carton box he calls a bedside table and oh

that one chain he always keeps on, with a key firmly pressed into his chest is on the bare mattress he calls a bed

he moves to the only other door on the small room, closed, with the light shut off, quiet, but maybe...

it takes the better part of an hour to get neil to open the door, and a little over another to actually coax neil out of the bathroom, still dazed, in the middle of what is obviously a very bad dissociative episode, but with his heart rate skyrocketting in the 120s bpm (it should not be above 100 <3), hands shaking so bad jean has to hold the glass of water in order for neil to drink out of it

he doesn't speak at all the first few hours

he doesn't let go of the key clenched in his hand either, even if there's a bloody imprint of it on his palm

jean makes sure to charge his phone, makes sure he gets at least some food in him, and when his phone finally turns on, he makes sure to let neil know he's got the missing calls from kevin and andrew, wraps him in his hoodie and at neil's nod, presses him close to his side

when neil speaks, it's well into the night, early in the morning, both and neither

"why aren't you mad at me?"

"why would i be mad at you?"

"everyone else seems to be"

jean only sighs, pressing neil closer to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders

"everyone else is just jealous of you, actually scratch that, it's not everyone, if you'd wait before fleeing you'd have noticed us first years stuck by you"

neil was raised to always only think of himself, his mother's paranoia after what she had to go through with his father only telling him that people were out to get him, that if he got comfortable, people would find a way to use him and hurt him and leave him out to dry

for so many years he chose being alone because of mary's words

for so many years he chose to believe that was true, so he isolated from his classmates, his colleages, his peers

for so many years he believed her

now he believed jean

after a few seconds of silence, in which he sank deeper into jean's side, genuinely finding comfort in his warmth, he says

"andrew and kevin hate me now"

jean just clicks his tongue, "if they hate you because of this, if they can't bring themselves to understand why you kept this from us, they don't deserve you, and you're much better off without them"

neil just ponders for a few moments, but jean isn't done speaking

"they've both been calling you for hours tho, so i think that might be worth something"

neil just sighs, shaking his head, and leaning impossibly closer to jean

"not today, i just- not right now"

"that's okay neil, just rest now, we can deal with that tomorrow, well, in a couple hours really because its already tomorrow"

neil huffs softly, a little sadly and closes his eyes

jeans huff is far less devastating, "thats what partners are for"
