EXPERIENCE IN RP -- my first experience with RP was in the gaiaonline forums as a teenager lmAO. i used to scrounge around in the forums for any literary magical school-based RPs. then i kinda fell away from it once i left the site. i didn't pick it back up again until after i'd been on tumblr for a few months in 2013-2014 or so, stumbled into the kung fu panda fandom and made a friend who got me into RPing canon characters through skype ghfhiieo then i opened up an ask blog in june 2014 which very quickly morphed into just a RP blog instead and the rest is history

BEST EXPERIENCES -- back on gaia i joined a roleplay which was taking place in some school for people with super powers (i was in a lot of those as u might have guessed, they were my favorites lmao). me and one other person were the only ones awake and active at one point and it was just a rapid fire interaction between our muses for a couple pages, after which we laughed at The Shenanigans bc we were pretty sure our two characters had just become the comic relief of the entire thread and wondered how the other players were going to react when they inevitably came back

honestly i just remember it being a ton of fun. that style of RP is so incredibly foreign to me now, but nostalgic

PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS -- i had to take a long time to think about this, and i think the number one thing that gets to me is infomodding. i very much prefer having a running tally of what our muses each know about each other and more importantly what they Don't. i wrote with someone once who would occasionally consider what they knew about my muse to be fair game for their muse to know as well, without any reasoning for how they'd know this information or when they found it out

additionally, the only other thing i can think of that does get to me pretty badly is related to pacing. like i mention below, i like interactions that feel relatively real and natural, and sometimes that means letting the conversation unfold on its own and allowing awkward silences and lulls to play out to their conclusions. it drives me a little crazy when i'm just getting comfortable in a conversational thread but my writing partner is instead evidently feeling Bored with the small talk, so they inject some drama or some other bombshell to Liven It Up and get the action rolling orz usually has killed the thread for me in the past

MUSE PREFERENCE ( FLUFF, ANGST, SMUT ) -- out of these three probably angst, but i rarely RP it bc i don't feel that i'm very good at it. also idk how Seriously people could pretty vanya angst lmao

i've done so little actual RPing with him (my own fault, tbh) that i don't really know what my preference is with him yet. him being captured by big jack bc there were rumors about him being Powerful And Rare has probably been one of my favorite interactions so far. i admittedly do enjoy writing more antagonistic interactions more than i do friendlier ones

PLOT OR MEMES -- my Natural State is that of a pantser, to be completely honest, but there's a special place in my heart for plotted threads. i do enjoy laying out the basics and then letting it go with a check-in every now and again when one of us is running out juice or Unsure about anything

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES -- either or. i'm no good at one-liners, and i struggle with novella length (condensing my partner's response into something i can reply to while being careful to keep the story Moving takes a lot of brainpower for me). i do however love replies and threads and partners, perhaps, who are okay with letting some parts of the conversation Drop and potentially come back into play later. i like that sense of continuity, where it feels like a real or natural interaction two people might have with lulls in the conversation and callbacks

As for fun facts... this one is fun to me at least, but it might not be to other people! Did you know that cancer is contagious for Tasmanian devils? Their population was so low once that they basically could not mate without it being a member of their family, so they became SUPER inbred. Like, unbelievably inbred. Because of this, all their genetic makeup is super duper similar. So if one of them has cancer, gets bit, and those cancer cells end up in the other one's body/on a wound, then it barely has to adapt at all. Cancer in basically everything else would be like "woah, this environment is completely different! I can't adapt, so I guess I'll die!" But because they're so genetically similar, the cancer just sort of looks around and goes "Yeah, this looks like the same place I was just in" and so it just keeps on growing! That is just so insane to me!

A JOURNEY INTO FIZZVILLE

What happens when accomplished singer-songwriters and best friends dodie, Orla Gartland, Greta Isaac, and Martin Luke Brown are all faced with boredom? The short answer is, fate directed the four musicians to get into the studio together, and they all formed the most superb supergroup of all time: FIZZ.

The quartet recently released their debut album The Secret To Life, and I got to sit in on a virtual press conference to hear FIZZ spill the tea on how the project came together!

THE BEGINNING

The members of FIZZ had been friends for ten years, but decided to link up roughly two years ago. A trip to the Middle Farm Studios in the town of England was somewhat of an experiment for the members. They wanted to see how their chemistry would flow in the studio, and see what would come out of it.

Greta said, “We basically wrote the album across two weeks – one week in December 2021, and another week in July 2022. I think the intention was to see what happens. We didn’t have a name then, our managers didn’t know the band existed really, and the intention really was just to play and see what it was like to write together.”

MAKING AN ALBUM

It might be a little hard to believe that FIZZ created an entire album in just two weeks, but that really did happen. At the studio, producer Pete Miles was bursting with excited about the four artists being in one room together, and he had a vision that they’d come together to form a band. Pete worked his magic in the studio, and FIZZ just couldn’t help but feel excited – which drove them to create a whole lot of music in just a little time.

According to Martin, “We were just giddy. Super duper giddy for that first week. We were running around and playing the drums, plugging in guitars, and it was really noisy chaos. A lot of the big songs on the album came from that first week.”

After six months, FIZZ regrouped and returned to the studio to work on the second half of the album. Martin shared, “We think of the album and the sound as a time capsule, because we pretty much did the whole thing in those two weeks. Whatever we do next, we’ll probably have a similar approach. Whatever happens, happens… we just make the time to allow for it to happen.”

JUST DO IT!

Since The Secret To Life was a spontaneous project, a lot of the planning and polishing that might usually take place in the studio was non-existent for the group. Orla said, “Because we wrote and recorded it at the same time, there’s no separate demoing and recording process. I think often, what you’re hearing on the final version of the song is the first (or second, or third) vocal ever put down for that song. There’s kind of a really magic naïve-ity in that. There’s no overthinking, because there was no time to overthink. You can hear in so many of the songs us all singing different notes to each other, because we’re not even really sure what the note is… but it doesn’t really matter! Let’s just go!”

It was all about the vibes of one another’s company. Greta mentioned, “I think we’re so used to this way of writing and producing music, which is… you write with someone different every day, you go into a new studio every day, you write with a stranger, you try and get a song in five hours and move on to the next one the next day, and you don’t get time to tweak anything. It’s just very fast-paced, and it can be soul-crushing sometimes! I think with the way Pete produces, which is very old school (a lot of recording to tape, and capturing the atmosphere more than anything) I think that was something I hadn’t done since I was a teen. It felt like a retreat, but it felt like coming back to actually making music in the way we always loved doing.”

Dodie said, “We didn’t want to put so much weight on writing this album. We didn’t want to figure out what we were trying to say. It’s so interesting what comes out when you let go of those pressures.”

The Secret To Life is pure sonic fun, and keeping this context in mind makes listening to the album even more enjoyable. It’s the story of four friends chasing good vibes, and you, the listener, are invited to frolic in the sun with FIZZ as your ears embark on this magical journey. Listen to  The Secret To Life below!

Currently Reading: Uhh nothing at the moment, but I have a few things lined up! I’ve just been a bit overwhelmed lately, so I haven’t had the most time. Edit: Call it Even can’t wait for the next chapter!!

Current Obsession: I could say a lot of things, but I’d say the front runner is mermaids right now. I get way into them like every other summer, and now with the popularity of Halle’s ‘The Little Mermaid’, and the internet’s trend of the week being “mermaid-core” I think my usually af-fin- ity (haha) is just being compounded.

But that aside, the ML season finale got me hyped, I’m really into this crochet top I’m working on (if I ever get a chance to finish it >:( ), and I must say, the Swifties got me. I’ve had at least 1 Taylor Swift song stuck in my head every day for the past month.

Smokey brand Reviews: Not So Thunderous Applause

A few weeks back, i reviewed the Wrath of Titans remake and lamented about the lack of ancient Greek media available for viewing. I’m a huge fan of that sh*t, It reads like thousand year old MCU tales. That world is rich in potential. chock full of heroes and monster ripe for exploration. Imagine my surprise when Netflix announced their surprise release for Blood of Zeus. Netflix is focused on expanding their animation entries and this world of gods and titans is perfect fodder to build a unique narrative universe. That said, it;s still a Netflix animation. Those are, decidedly, hit or miss. I had planned on checking this thing out after the second Mando season but that is moving a t a snails pace. Looks like I'm about to binge into this world of Grecian hard fantasy. Hopefully, it’s everything i dream of but we’ll see.

The Good

The fact that there is content based in the world of ancient Greek myth is enough of a boon for me to chock this series up as one of the better Netflix entries. I love that nonsense, man. It’s so sordid and filled with tragedy, betrayal, and straight up violence. Before any criticism i have, i am glad that this sh*t is even a thing.

A lot of the design work on this show is exceptional. I love how the many artists in the animation and development houses, have put together a rather unique look to the ancient Greek world they’ve created. It’s always fun seeing how these old gods are interpreted in modern media.

The narrative chosen to frame this exceptional design is pretty okay. I can’t say it’s super great, because it’s not, but it does an adequate job of connecting set piece to set piece.

The action scenes are okay. they’re the highlight of the show, for sure, but they still fall a step behind, say, Castlevania. I imagine that’s because this is the first season of this show and it’s Netflix being conservative, compared to other animated fare like, say, Dragon’s Dogma, this sh*t is pristine.

The voice acting in this thing is pretty solid. I can’t say the cast is filled with heavy weights or anything, but they work wonders with what they are given. I do like that there is a legit Greek presence on this show about ancient Greek mythology, though. I don’t think that level of through “diversity” is necessary, but it’s a definite plus.

The writing on this show is mediocre at best. Again, I'll chock it up to first season jitters, but this sh*t is barely coherent, barely compelling. In a story filled with gods, demigods, titans, and demons, this plot feels real small. Its not a bad entry story but, with everything at their disposal, this yarn could have sun a much more vibrant tapestry, for sure

The Bad

The overall plot is kind of a rehash f the same sh*t we’ve seen, over and over, with these ancient Greek stories. This is just Wrath of the Titans again. I’m not complaining, i like that story, but come on? Rehashing a trite plot makes your story incredibly predictable and this show can definitely be that, at times, especially if you know your myths.

I have an acute disdain for Netflix animation. It’s so inadequate compared to other “anime” houses and yet, they f*cking tout that sh*t like it’s the end all, be all, of US cartooning. It’s fine for what Americans consider “good” animation but it’s a far cry from the sh*t studios like Madhouse or Clover drop.

The exposition dumps in this thing are many. I think that hearkens back to the clumsy writing and less than sure footing of a first season. It’s not a deal-breaker, i just feel like there is definitely a better way to convey certain, principal, events.

Because of these periodic, sloppy, dumps of backstory and plot pushing, the pacing of this show become incredibly irky. It feels like you don’t get an entire episode of forward momentum, constantly stifling itself to double back and explain something that should have already been explored.

The Verdict

Blood of Zeus is basically Wrath of the Titans revisited. It’s narrative is, more or less, and extrapolation of that one. That’s not a huge knock or anything, i rather like that story, but it’s disappointing to see. Again. Especially when you have so much more to pull from. I mean, look at God of War. That game series is chock full of ancient Greek nuance, embellished with a violent uniqueness. They tell a story, rife in that Olympian flavor, without having to rely on the contrived Wrath blueprint. That sucks because this how is good. It has great-for-the-US animation, strong voice work, and a beautiful world to explore. There is a lot of positive here, a lot of potential, even if it’s captured in that grody animation style i don’t care for, personally. This show is an decent watch but definitely suffers from First Season-itis. Hopefully, as it ages and finds its bearings, it will tap in to that potential. It needs to find it's own voice, it’s own story to tell. That said, Blood of Zeus is easily the second best Netflix “anime” so far, right behind the excellent Castlevania and definitely deserves a proper watch.

Explaining the 4 Legs of Revenue

I’ve been thinking about strategic planning and I may have mentioned that last week, but this week I want to take you towards my area of expertise: business growth and revenue.

For a long time, I was unable to create a simple enough framework to build up the idea of a process for revenue that applied to small businesses and large, non-profits and other types of firms, but I think I have a 4 pronged focus that any business can use to rethink their revenue strategy.

Like most things, this is the basics and there are layers within this, but here itis, 4 steps:

1. You come up with a product or service of value that you can offer your market. 2. You identify your customers. 3. You market to them. 4. You close the sale.

Obviously, there is a ton of complexity that fits into each of those areas, but I want to kick start the back of the year by hitting a few keynotes on the basic ideas that support each of these concepts.

Start with value:

This is simple, but in too many cases we forget that the value we provide our customers is essential to them buying from us.

Let’s look at me: I help businesses grow, fast.

I focus on a business outcome and one that is pretty clear.

This is obviously valuable to a lot of businesses.

Does it check that box?

Yes.

What about the original iPod?

Do you remember the ad campaign?

“1000 songs in your pocket.”

That was great.

Shows value and explains everything in 5 words.

This is your job.

Start with your value and make it easy to understand.

Know your customers:

How often do I hear people say that everyone is their customer?

Far too often.

You know what, if everyone is your customer, no one is your customer.

Here’s the thing, even if you have a product that is focused on the mass market, everyone isn’t your market.

Why?

Because you still are focusing on some specific segment in everything you do.

Let’s say you are looking to buy a ticket to a baseball game for the holiday weekend here in the States, if you are marketing there might be a number of different segments of the market for you to communicate with:

Families

Business folks

Groups

Long-time supporters

Casual supporters

The list can go on and on.

The key is that each of those groups has a specific button you can hit to get them to buy.

And, you need to make sure that your value proposition is pointed at those folks in a way that is meaningful.

Remember, even if you sell to multiple markets everyone needs a tweak on their message.

You aren’t going to talk to the law firm client the same way you are to the family.

You aren’t going to sell to a group the same way you are to a casual fan.

Market to folks:

This is the fun stuff for a lot of people.

But marketing is important and it is about 3 things at its core:

Message

Targeting

Consistency

I could write a book on this, but I’ll give you the Clif Notes this morning:

As I mentioned above with your customers, every segment of your audience is going to need a message that presents your value proposition in a way that is meaningful to the people you are trying to reach.

You need to target your message because everyone is going to be reached in a different manner. You might advertise, you may send direct mail, you might speak, but the key is to know your customer, the important message to share, and where the person is most likely to receive the message in a way that they will engage with it.

Finally, be consistent.

You have to deliver your message consistently.

A Hail Mary isn’t a great marketing strategy. So make a plan and stick with it by delivering your message consistently.

This will vary depending on what you are up to, but set parameters from the start that you can live with and measure results against.

Close the sale:

I’m of the Peter Drucker mindset that if you do a good enough job marketing, you don’t need to sell…but let’s be honest, salespeople aren’t going away.

The final step to generate more revenue is to close the sale.

The art of closing the sale needs its very own series and newsletter, but let’s just say that you have to ask for the business.

There are tons of books on this topic, but I will point you towards my favorite: The Lost Art of Closing by Anthony Iannarino. In lieu of me writing something about closing that is incomplete, check out Anthony’s book.

That’s it though: 4 things to think through when you are thinking about reinventing your revenue or growing your business:

1. Value proposition 2. Who is your customer? 3. Marketing 4. Closing sales

(1/14)I am so sorry for taking so long! (I also had to spend a lot of time studying this week bc I had my first exam for my Anatomy Lab on Wednesday... And then we had our first exam for *Lecture* Thursday (which also was the day I had a bunch of powerpoints due for my very intimidating adviser...) and then I had to substitute teach all day Friday (and then I meant to respond sooner but I got so busy 😭) so yeah I completely understand about school getting in the way no worries abt it!)

And also sleeping in on a day off when you’ve been busy studying lately is completely valid hon 👌 I hope that your midterms go well and that you’re able to stay healthy and take care of yourself in the midst of preparing! (not that you wouldn’t, I just have a bad habit of neglecting things like healthy sleeping and eating habits when I get caught up studying, so hopefully you’re not like me in that way) And yeah me too! I mean on the one hand I understand *why* they have that limit

I tried to get into them after I got into Monsta X and right before I got into Astro and although I did really like some of their songs

8)I haven’t really been able to get into their music as much as MX and Astro’s yet. I do think they seem like a really fun group in terms of personality though. As for the comeback I know right?? I mean I know a lot of ppl were freaking out abt the comeback being a 'sexy’ and how it wasn’t gonna be the same cute Astro we all love anymore. But they filled the MV with flowers and glitter and still managed to make it sexy as fuck! This album has a very different vibe but it still felt like them

9) They managed to pull off a more mature and sexy concept while still staying true to themselves and I’m so here for it! I don’t know if I could really pick a favorite era because I love them all! I mean Spring Up was an excellent era and every era since then has been great. They really don’t know how to have any bad concepts or make any bad songs huh? Lol. 11) Other than All Night (which is great, obvi) I also really like Starry Sky, Moonwalk and Role Play 😂 and Bloom is so pretty oh my god! 😭😭 the album is great and has no bad songs but those are the ones I particularly like. I feel u about the dances honestly. I think that’s actually what drew me to kpop initially. I mean I like listening to the songs ofc but it wasn’t until after I actually watched an MV/saw the choreography that I actually was like… Oh shit I’m gonna have to be a fan now

12) It was the visual aspect that really made me want to be a kpop fan bc I haven’t really seen that level of performance with any western music. Which isn’t to say I think all western music is bad but I think it’s really impressive to watch kpop groups singing and also doing really impressive choreography and performing at the same time. Plus that’s the part I can show my family and say 'even if you don’t like the music because of the language barrier you have to admit they’re talented dancers’

13)And yes! With Astro especially I think the dance practices rlly succinctly capture the reason why I love them so much. They are *super* talented but they also have such great chemistry and u can rlly tell that they just love each other and have so much fun together! I love a family of six hardworking dorks! 🤧💗 lol. FUCKKK okay so after like a million years of midterms + 2 days straight of sleeping ya girl is BACK to answer these asks after getting through the hurdle of copying and pasting and italicizing 14 asks onto one response on my phone. Did I perhaps fail at least 3 of my midterms? Quite probably. Do I have the energy to care atm? No. Did I need to get away from everything and fly to Boston to visit my friend for reading week? Yes.

Tbh I have the same unhealthy habits too, I essentially became nocturnal and lived on like one meal a day + snacks and coffee 😭 fr, I would be writing my midterm from 11:30-1:30, go home to eat, sleep from 4-7pm, then wake up to study all night for the next one, and repeat,,,,, I’m like an actual mess tbh

Honestly as much as I’ve enjoyed the Aroha secret admirer thing (it was sooo nice getting to meet new people) rn I’m just so glad that post-reveal we don’t have to deal with tumblr ask limits and writing entire essay responses all in one go.

Honestly 3 shirts isn’t even THAT bad especially if they weren’t all like ordered from overseas so they wouldn’t have been that expensive. When I went to the Myeongdong underground shopping centre I went craaaazy with Kpop merch despite stanning (at that point, pretty much only) BTS for a whole 3 weeks, so I ended up coming back with 2 albums, a bunch of stickers, a photocard pack (also bonus: got an Astro one too) and like a BUNCH of bt21 stuff. Speaking of, my All Light album finally came in!! I ended up getting a Moonbin, MJ, Jinjin, and Sanha photocard plus the a Rocky lyric booklet and ik I basically got THE best set for someone who loves all of them w my whole heart 😩✊ but I’m still sad I didn’t get any Eunwoo cards since he was my first Astro bias 😭 it’s soooooo pretty I love it sm and like lowkey I’ll probably end up buying more of their albums anyway oopsss

Regarding favourite songs, I swear my moods change so much, so it’s pretty common for me to not love a song at first and sort of rediscover it months later, and tbh that’s kind of what happened with Innocent Love, Baby, and Again. In this album though, I’d say my favourite Bsides are probably be Bloom, 1 in a Million, and Heart Brew Love.

And I toootally agree with the performance aspect of kpop being the thing to attract me it, even before I got really into it I’d sometime like to watch dance practices (and lowkey even learned a bunch of choreos a with my friend last term just bc we had access to a frequently empty dance studio). It’s just super impressive to see people singing and dancing at the same time mostly live, and for the same reasons I’m also super into musicals as well, which isn’t so say I think like lip syncing or just dancing/singing is bad, it’s just refreshing to see it done all at once, you know?

Also side story it turns out that I actually DO know another Astro fan irl!! Her older sister (who I’m closer to bc we’re closer in age) is the one who bought the million got7 albums. Even though she’s been a fan of Astro since before debut, her sister doesn’t even know she listens to kpop since she was afraid of getting roasted at first, but now she’s in too deep to say anything. I’d mentioned liking Astro to her before, but she didn’t say anything bc she didn’t want to expose herself in front of her sister but on Friday I saw her while her sister was out and she was like “oh btw here’s a secret I went to the Toronto fanmeet last year but my sister doesn’t know” I was SHOOK but tbh I’m just super glad now to have someone to talk about it and go to concerts with (I’m banking on the fact that they’re coming back)

Hey guys

I just thought of a cool Unikitty episode idea

I don't know how to do the "Keep Reading" thing so uh I'll just have a summary of my idea here (I'll reblog this with a link to a full version on Amino later owo)

So I'm not good with titles lol so its gonna be nameless for now

Basically one day, Unikitty was doing her daily morning routine of greeting everyone. She then returns to the castle, and sits at the dining table for pancakes and cookies. She doesn't feel like washing her hands/paws/hooves (?) since the sink is too far away. Puppycorn, Dr. Fox, and Hawkodile suggest that they go to an amusement park and have some fun. Richard agrees to supervise them. The next morning, Unikitty is coughing and sneezing a bit. Dr. Fox, despite not being a medical doctor, comes to the conclusion that she's got a case of the "Cough-Sneeze-Itis" (minor cold). Dr. Fox creates a green liquid that's meant to be medicene. She tells Unikitty to drink it and she'll be cured. Unikitty licks the medicine and she finds that it tastes bad. Dr. Fox goes to wait for Unikitty with the others outside. Unikitty pours the liquid onto the floor, and goes with her friends. They're at the amusement park, and Puppycorn sees bumper cars. They ride on the bumper cars while Unikitty keeps getting bumped because she keeps sneezing, which distracts her. Next, Dr. Fox wants to ride a spinning ride (the ones that go up and down in circles). Unikitty is starting to feel a bit nauseous but tries her best to keep herself together. Afterwards, Hawkodile wants to ride a super huge roller coaster. Unikitty tries to stall time and say that they should grab a snack and some drinks first. They agree while Unikitty goes behind somewhere to barf off screen. Eventually they get on the roller coaster. Unikitty finally tells the truth and says that she was sick all along. Insert moral here lol. But too late lel the ride starts. By the end of the ride she ded. She stays at home for the rest of the day. Her friends barge into her room like the fabulous friends they are and wishes for Unikitty to get well soon :)

Then they reveal that the real reason why thet came back with Unikitty was because she got them sick too lol

 Lets see how many Waluigi fans I can trigger with this post. Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be my first video game review. I believe everyone of there internet is familiar with this game series by now. If not, then what rock have you been living under for the past 20ish years.

The review will be split into two parts. First the review for the storyline, and then the review for the multiplayer section. It will become obvious as you continue reading. I sure hope you do so...

Spoilers of the story mode will be shown below. Proceed with caution. 

Super Smash Bros Ultimate: 

With an arsenal of 76 fighters to choose from and various assist trophies, cough Waluigi cough, from many different games and pokemon to also join in the battle the possibility for this game seems endless. Although, then Mr. Sakurai of course had to go above and beyond literally everyone’s expectations to add the spirits section which includes characters from countless other games, adding approximately 1200 new characters to the game. (I know that there is more than this, but the last hundreds is just spirits of all the fighters so I was not counting them.)

Summary: 

The World of Light story mode for Smash Ultimate takes place when a new villain, Galeem, eliminates all the fighters and brainwashes them into serving its needs - basically turning them into his puppets. This all goes along to its plans except for the precious start child, Kirby, Mr. Sakurai’s beloved creation (well other then the entire Smash series). Kirby is then faced to *read in Morgan Freeman's voice* save the entire world! Then after beating Galeem for the first time a new villian emerges from the darkness, Dharkon, who seems to hold an impressive grudge again Galeem. The two seem to be in a constant battle with the recovered fighters only watching from the sidelines as their battle takes place. 

For the multiplayer section of the game the format of it has changed drastically from Smash 3 and Smash 4 respectively Smash 3Ds and Smash Wii U. The rule section is now a mandatory passage into the game and the stage selection now comes before the character selection. The rules also can not be changed once you select them unless you back out all the from the match to change them. Multiple other features have also been implemented such as smashdown and a tournament mode. Spirits can also be used in multiplayer battle as well between friends.

Review:

I have to give some kudos (Shinichi AUGGGG!!! Sorry little fangirl episode. I apologize for the interruption.) to the story line overall. The plot was something unique and unexpected, and oddly entertaining considering the sheer lack of cutscenes and lore to go along with it. Being able to come up with a interesting storyline like it has after the Subspace Emissary is quite impressive. When watching through the Smash Directs waiting for the game to release I absolutely knew that there was going to be a new story mode to go along with this game, but I was unsure on what exactly it was going to be because the Subspace Emissary seems almost perfect. The World of Light appears to be a battle of good and evil where one can not appear without the other, yet can not survive without each other. I believe MatPat's description of the lore can be one possible interpretation of the story mode, but I also believe that there are others as well. In creating my review of this integration I did use The Game Theory’s theory for some inspiration and guidance, so I will be drawing off of that as a source. 

Galeem and Dharkon physically seem to represent light and darkness respectively, so it would be obvious that they would be enamines. Then why do they both encapture all of the fighters who are supposed to be on the good side. Why would they both do so. Well the short and simple answer of that is that, as the cut senses show that is not the point. In the aspect of Galeem and Dharakon the fighters are meaningless, they have no value. Going back to the origin of it all, the fighters are supposed to simply represent a child playing with them and bringing them to life. In a matter of light and darkness the person playing or controlling the figure decides on how that they will behave. By the fighters being abducted by Galeem and Dharkon itis a simple change of hands. I mean even Master hand, general of Galeem, and then Crazy Hand, general of Dharkon, can easily represent order and discord. Each are traits of it varios counterparts. We, the player, are simply spectators watching a match between rivals of sorts. Each side has a general, 3 captains, various amounts of sargents (being the abducted characters), and then plentiful amounts of pawns (being the Spirits themselves). This battle we witness between the two is an war between light and darkness. 

The ending of story more is only obtained through defeating both Galeem and Dharkon at the same time. This is the true ending which will set all the spirits free. If only defecting a single one then the other will destroy the world. Each which is called the bad ending. This true ending then meaning that light can not exist without darkness and then darkness can not exist without light. If simply darkness exists then the world will be thrown into chaos and discord while is only light exists then nothing would get done and everything will cease to exist. A balance is needed for harmony to happen. Throughout the final map of the game as spirits were defeated Galeem and Dharkon constantly fought for power to overtake the other. The player, not shown, represent this balancing act. The act of calming and defeating both of the large giants restored order to the world, adn allowed life to continue. Quoting Kingdom Heart, (Its a good game series lay off!) “ The closer you get to the Light, The Greater Your Shadow Becomes.” In order to maintain a balance as light grows the darkness should also grow. As the balancer in the game you are returning balance to the world that was taken out of balance when Galeem first tried to overtake Dharkon by taking all of the fighters into its own ‘hand’, and then when it was taken out by the balancer the shift in powers went over to Dharkon who’s power rose. Think of it as a see-saw, as one side rises the other sinks, but if you then release the side the rose it will then sink and the other side will rise.

(Wow! That was a lot of writing just on the lore, lol. I congratulate all who actually read through that.)

The playthrough of the story mode itself I was sadly a bit disappointed int. With The Subspace Emissary you could play multiplayer and there was even some playforming that characters could travers. I was sad when both of those features were taken out of the game. The graphics of the story mode itself was impressive though. I could see the real dedication to each aspect of the map, and how they tried to fit each portal area to a certain theme to a game. Like there was a Monster Hunter area, Bowser's Castle, Legend of Zelda, and a Castlevania. The avatar of every single character was impressive as well. I mean creating all of the sprites especially fro this one small thing was no small feat, so that trait I appreciated. I know the big theme for Smash Ultimate is, “Got to go fast” as quoted from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, but sometimes its a little nice to stop and smell the roses. Like in the story mode! I would honestly sacrifice about half of the spirit battles in spirit mode to have some fun platform levels of some sort. Even if it was just put in as minigames I would be happy. Like Hit the Target or Find the Exit from melee, or maybe even just reskining some of the platform levels from Subspace with a HD addition to it and throwing it into World of Light. Any of that would be amazing! I believe that added a lot of fun to the overall story mode itself, and it was one of the main reasons that made me actually want to replay and beat the story mode multiple times because it was something a bit different from the rest of the game. It made the story mode very unique, and it made it stand out.

As for the multiple player section there was a number of new additions and fighting formats that actually improved the overall experience and gameplay of it, but there was also some aspect that made me frustrated at. My favorite aspects by far was the implications of the smash down and tournament sections. The have finally added a tournament section, and that makes me soooooo happy! I no longer have to make homemade tournament charts!!! T^T The shashdown is also very helpful to play with people who are really only good with one person, and that one person can pretty much wipe you out no matter what you do. It adds a lot of fairness to the game which succeeds in making it a lot more fun for the people out there who are good at a lot of characters, but not really good at just one (I actually sit in between these people. I have 3 mains who I like to fight as a lot, but I am decent at pretty much everyone else in the game. Well except for Mr. Game and Watch and Olimar. My mains by the way are: Mewtwo, Ganondorf, and Lucas.)

My main drawback with the multiplayer section of the game is actually how the rule selection is set up. For tradition Smash mode you have to go through the process of first choosing your rules for the match, picking you stage, and then choosing you fighter. This is path you always have to go down when entering in the smash mode after exiting the game. if you finish a match it just takes you back to the stage selection section. The problem exists when you finish a match, but you realize you made a mistake in the rule creation. In order to fix it you first have to back all the way out of the match, then open up the select rules tab that you specifically created for this match set, then edit what you want, finally save it, and then back out after selecting it and proceeding onto the rest of the match. Now this would not be as much as a problem if you were able to set a rule tab as default, so you could enterally skip that one step and continue onto the match. Also, if you were allowed to edit the rules while inside the match selecting process such as when you are choosing you stage because you forgot to turn off the stage morph or stage hazards or you start selecting you character and realize that the match is still on time and not on stock. If these features were implemented then the rule section would only need to be opened when it was needed to create a new set of rules. I am not saying that I dislike the aspect of creating a custom set of rules to use for match because I think that is a very nice user friendly option for the players, but I do think that it need a little more work to be better. This is a new feature that just needs a few bugs worked out, and the it would be perfect.

For the fighters and the battles themselves, I have stated previously that the theme of Smash Ultimate is, “Gotta Go Fast,” so that is what everything is. The speed of all the characters have improved - making all the heavy characters now usable competitively - as well as the final smashes. This speed change has really made the game itself into the fastest, most adgil, and adaptive are the best. So it is no surprise that Sonic, Mewtwo, and Inkling has all made it into the top tiers for being if not the fastest, most adgil, and adaptive characters in the game respectively. The final smashes on most of the characters have changed in one way or another, some for the better and some for the worse.  There is now a feature also to do diagonal air doges as well which helps out considerable for air movement and combat. Also the idea of perfect shielding has been improved, so it grants the player a chance attack the opponent when their defences are down a bit. There is not really much else to say in this area.

I am not going to touch on the classic mode much or the all-star mode much because they are pretty much the same as the previous game. Classic mode you fight about 6 battles with the last being either Master Hand or both Master Hand and Crazy hand at varying levels of difficulty. All-star mode is continuous matches with short breaks in between which goes on until you fight and defect every single smash fighter. I will only say this, which I have already stated before, I missed the small platforming levels inside Classic mode. It added something different to the overall flow which was a nice change of pace and mixed up the game some. 

Overall Smash Ultimate is an amazing game that has blown not only mine but everyone elses socks off. From the vast amount of characters included to the thoughtful and in depth storyline, and all of the new features that it includes. I sincerely believe that Mr. Sakurai has outdone himself, and is in need of a well needed vacation. He has done an amazing job at trying his best at making every fan and every series present in this game feel loved. With all of that though I will be honored to give Super Smash Bros Ultimate an astounding score of a 9/10. Splitting each part up into its various categories the World of Light Story mode receives a not too shabby 8.5/10. This is because of the lack of platforming areas (tear) and for the lack of official lore or true story line which has left a lot of fans trying to actually deceivers what it means, me included (given my own interruption above). Then with the multiplayer section receiving an impressive 9.5/10. Only docking off points for the wonky rules section which could possibly be fixed in a later update.

uh i think probably writing. iwas always a big reader when i was a kid (mainly because i didnt have anything else 2 do) and even know when i dont read asmuch its so nice to read stuff where like. the writer Knows what theyare doing yk. andeven stuff that isnt super like. poetic and symbolic n all is fun to read and like. i mainly like stuff where the author Knows their characters and all the characters r very distinct. i think thats something i rlly like abt wof bcus like regardless of how. consistent. those characters are they all feel very distinct from each other even with How Many of them tyere are whereas with some writers theyll have literally 3 characters and all of them r basically interchangeable. this got rambly and im not sure how on topic itis but. yeah !
