The Pride in the Fall Jam is 1/6th of the way done! Join now! <3
PLEASE REBLOG!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Pride in the Fall Jam!
In this game jam, your objective is to create or submit ANYTHING that involves queerness in some way in content or by the relation to yourself!
There are no rules on genre or topic OTHER THAN it is REQUIRED for all submitters to be under the 2SLGBTQIA+ umbrella (and some other stuff you'll see below)
Queerness is a subjective term which means a different thing for different people. For this jam, queerness means something that defies cisgender, hetero-normative and/or western ideals of both. Your games are encouraged to either have been CREATED by a queer person AND/OR contains queer themes. It's a pretty general game jam, so as long as you are queer AND/OR are queer and submit a game with queer themes, you're good! <3
Your games can be tabletop games OR digital games. Anything that gets your mind in the realm of game design is all that matters to me!
IMPORTANT: Participants may submit previously-made games from no more than a year ago, but it is encouraged to also submit an original piece for this jam! This is a chance to exercise your creative skills AND get your game out there, not just one or the other! ALSO, NO AI ART OR WRITING IS ALLOWED! Also, Under no circumstances are people who submit games with bigoted tones, ideologies, or dogwhistles allowed in this game jam. If your work is bigoted in any way, it can and will be rejected for submission. You have no place in my community, and please do not play my games at your tables. Also, please no NSFW submissions (you know what I mean by that).
IF YOU ARE SPAM SUBMITTING A GAME WITH NO ADHERENCE TO THE RULES ABOVE, I WILL ALSO DECLINE YOUR SUBMISSION! PLEASE BE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT!

Hiya! I know you get this a lot, but I wanted to start off by saying how much I ADORE your work and that I genuinely cannot WAIT for day 3 of Mushroom Oasis. Your artstyle is so pleasing on the eyes! ٩(^‿^)۶ You might have been asked this before, but I was just wondering what programs you used when programming/making your visual novels ^^’
I love writing stories/drawing and I had loads of ideas bustling about making visual novels but have no idea where to actually start…
MUCH LOVE 💗💗💗💗
I use Ren'Py! It's incredibly beginner friendly and truth be told, coding is not my forte. I mostly looked at how my friend did it for Lift Your Spirits and kinda just worked with what I understood at the time!
Most of the time this is me working in Ren'Py:

Dev ramble under cut:
I know the question didn't explicitly ask but just a teensy bit of unsolicited advice, I recommend starting with a script!
You can't make a visual novel without the novel part done first, and it helps to see if you really have something good enough for a finished game before investing the time and energy into artwork, coding, et cetera. You can even start writing before you figure out how to use Ren'Py, as the script can help motivate you to finish what you started! At least that's how it worked for me!

💊🤕visual novels about weird girlies🩸💊
Menhera (メンヘラ) is an abbreviation of “Mental Healther”, meaning “someone who does mental health”, and refers to a subculture centered around a certain style of vent art as well as fashion featuring it.
Hello, and thank you for your interest in the very first Menhera VN Jam! This is a jam for games about living and coming to terms (or not) with unseen burdens, whether they be mental, emotional, physical, psychological, or otherwise.
We will play through all the submissions and pick FIVE of our favorites which will receive a $250 paypal headpat. There will be no first place. There will just be 5 judge favorites. Due to payment reasons, all members of teams involved must be legal adults.
Please note that, in addition to the overall quality of the works—writing, art, music, etc.—one of the primary criteria in determining which entries will be granted an award is being on-topic.  In other words, while the individual elements of a work are important to their overall composition, a work with a conventionally "bad" component (e.g. very amateurish art) will not lose points on those grounds alone. Intention and sincerity are the most important parts of our judging criteria, so try and make something representative of your heart more than anything!

In Castle, You Are Kobold With Knife: A Theoretically Possible TTRPG
Tumblr media
https://lackoftrumpets.itch.io/incastlekoboldknife This month I have spent some time working on a few projects for game jams and this is the first one to be finished! In Castle, You Are Kobold With Knife, is a game about a dragon being taken away from their kobolds. As one of the kobolds, you must overcome difficult odds in order to press further into the dungeon. If you fail a skill check, your kobold perishes. Don't worry though, you come right back as a new kobold! This game includes a table full of 100 kobold names and 100 titles that can imbue these small lizards with special power! No matter what it takes, you and your band of kobolds will free the dragon! I had a lot of fun working on this small and experimental game for the DUNGEONUARY game jam. The point of this game jam was to make a small dungeon over the course of the month and I thought it would be fun to try and make a little and silly system around taking over the stronghold. I hope you enjoy playing this game as much as I enjoyed making it.

Silly guy for the stained red game jam on itchio. I'll be working on this for about 3 months, so yeah. Let's wish me luck! (I'm a total beginner 😭)
Anyway, this is Professor Rigor. He's a vampire teacher. The player plays as a teacher assistant/co-worker (another teacher) but human.
the concept is still being brainstormed, and the prototype title is "Love Sucks" (title design drawn by me)
He's a silly yandere vampire teacher what more could you want
Unsure what the rating will be at this moment

i made a zine for the pride jam hosted on itchio back in june it's very experimental, personal and it was difficult to make somehow, and when i originally released it, i was very shy and embarrassed by it. it still feels very heart grabbing, but i think, maybe if someone feel alone or singled out by their experience maybe they can feel less alone. so i post about it again here. i can't link it for it not to be buried even more so head to my blog to find a path to it if you feel like it? it's, as most of my work, free. its a pdf and i guess i could post it in full here, but it's too much for me at the moment. yapyapyap

Working on a game for the Trash Punk Jam being put on by Rev Casey and....
Tumblr media
The vibe this creates is AMAZING and I am so happy with the work I'm doing for this!!!
I think something I want to incorporate into this game is finding creative ways to avoid using dice. I think something most TTRPG makers don't know is despite the culture around TTRPGs in prisons, a lot of them can't be played due to dice being banned. I want to make this game ACCESSIBLE.

Looking forward to revisiting it + the jam after so much progress. Jam is open to everyone and hosted online if you got an old project kicking around >:)

Horsemen For Hire: A TTRPG about trying to complete mundane jobs with the powers of the apocalypse.
Tumblr media
The apocalypse came and went... and not a whole lot changed. Everything was kind of already in shambles, so the forces that be decided that they no longer needed the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Jobless and with looming rent and tax payments, the horsemen need to find new jobs that don't involve destroying reality. A common criticism towards some TTRPGs is that the actions your characters can do often clashes with with how people play them (like D&D 5e being a game that is built around heroic combat, but some try to play it like a survival horror or political intrigue game). Despite probably not being the best idea, I wanted to intentionally make a game where the actions that players could take directly clashed with what the victory condition is. The players are destructive embodiments of the apocalypse, but have to complete mundane tasks. My hope that this disconnect creates humorous situations where things go horribly wrong because these parts clash so poorly. This game was made for the Bring Out Your Ghosts game jam, hosted by @neointeractives. The game jam was dedicated to showing off game concepts that never came to be. This concept was originally created during October 2022, but I did not have much time to expand upon it because of college. When I finally got to making games at the start of 2023, this game kept on getting pushed aside. I'm glad I finally got to finish this game and I hope you enjoy it!

Chocolate Carol is a short visual novel, where you sell hot chocolate to the locals. However, on one fateful night, an unfamiliar patron comes to you with news of a crime that occurred … very near your stall. Can you find the culprit with the clues each of the customers give you?
This is a visual novel that I worked on with a few friends over the past year. I did some of the art. This is our first game, so please check it out :3
