Then: “Since I feel better, I’ll draw something quick & happy as a warm up. :)”
Now: “–what if after Kawarama’s death, Hashirama was on inofficial ‘babysitting’ duty for Itama and kept telling him to stay at the sidelines, but in the heat of battle he got caught up in a fight and when he finally got back to where he left Itama, he was already dead.”

yesterday i had a glorious fucking migraine and i had thoughts about au of the time travel tobirama au
basically what if Tobirama fails and dies like about a year after the marriage with Madara. Konoha is building and everything, everyone is happy and then Tobirama fucking dies.
I didn't think of the reason, but maybe he was killed in battle or smth. Maybe by some clan like idk Shimura :)
(prob bc of Black Zetsu)
So, expectedly, Madara loses his fucking mind and it's even worse than when Izuna died, cuz they're supposed to be at peace what the fuck. Madara tries to raze the entire clan responsible for his sweet husband's death.
Hashirama doesn't let him do that and Madara leaves the village, where Black Zetsu catches onto him.
So basically, canon, but Tobirama was never Niidaime and Izuna lived.
The second Hokage would be, idk, Itama, who's fucking terrified and he didn't signed up for this shit!
But yeah, he's the Niidaime and he does everything in his power to implement everything Tobirama wanted to do for the village. And it's a lot. A LOT. Honestly like the dude knew he's gonna be a Hokage one day, he left MANY notes.
Itama appoints Kagami as his successor, cuz that's what Tobirama would want.
Danzo, being a bitch at the Uchiha clan, since Madara had a huge beef with his clan, kills Kagami, takes his eyes, makes it mission accident yada-yada, Itama appoints Hiruzen the next Hokage.
Idk why Itama left the position, but he never wanted it anyway. He did everything his brother wanted and peaced out to go smoke.
So, the canon happens.
The 4th war happens.
Orochimaru raises the dead Hokage, but not only him, Tobirama is there too, since he was super smart and his personal fav.
"Oh fuck, not again," Tobirama said, hiding his face in his hand. Everyone thought that's about the time Orochimaru made him fight in the Konoha crush on chuunin exams. He choose him over Itama, cuz even though Itama is a good Hokage, but he's a healer for the most part and not that useful on the battlefield.
Sasuke asks his questions and then he asks Tobirama.
"Uchiha Tobirama. The history says that you were married off to the Uchiha clan, to Madara, against your will and then took the suicide mission after a year in marriage. Is this true? You hated the Uchiha so much that you killed yourself?"
"I did what"
"Well, you were the one who created Uchiha Police Force..." Orochimaru said.
"First of all, I planned it to go further than the Uchiha and to supervise it myself. At the first stages it was supposed to be only Uchiha because it was one of the most competent clans to do this job and my clan that I trusted. Second of all, 'against my will'? Seriously?! I did not chase Madara since I was 9 to write our marriage off as a political marriage! What the fuck!"
Everyone, except Hashirama and Itama looked shocked at this confession.
"Where IS my husband? Trying to avenge my death to the whole world?"
"Uh, yeah.."
"Of fucking course. I should've left him a note specifically saying that he needs to be in the fucking village and take care of our clan. Now what? Our clan is just one a vengeful child!"
Tobirama paused, feeling up the battlefield.
"And one more Uchiha who lost his shit. Of fucking course"
Everyone shocked, cuz Tobirama had a reputation who hated Uchiha, cuz his brother married him off to them as a peace offering. Then Sasuke makes Hashirama talk about all this talk about village, Hokage, shinobi yada yada yada
Senju brothers are PISSED at Hiruzen and Danzo (thank fuck he's dead right). Hiruzen looked remorseful and said that he knew that everyone expected Kagami to become Hokage and not him.
Ok, so!
Tobirama was the fastest one to rush to the battle field. He had a feral husband to calm down.
He arrived and just stood before Madara, who froze in shock.
"Husband, come here," Tobirama said, opening his arms. Alliance is just standing there gaping cuz what the fuck
Madara didn't notice Tobirama at first, since he masked his chakra by habit. But even then he was exited to meet Hashirama and fight once more. But then he sees Tobirama and FUCK all these plans, his huband is here!!!
Madara just crushed into Tobirama. He had no idea that Tobirama could've been edo tensei'ed the whole time!
"Calm down, dear. What have you done here?" Tobirama asked, petting his husband's hair.
"I just wanted to bring you back..."
"Oh dear... You stupid, stupid man," Tobirama shook his head and kissed him, while the whole Alliance watches shocked.
And this is a story how Tobirama stopped the 4th war singlehandedly.
Ofc there's Obito, but they sic Naruto on him and it's all good. Though Black Zetsu tried something, but Tobirama is fucking READY for him. He will avenge his husband's sanity.
Before they go to Pure Lands again, Tobirama said to Tsunade, Kakashi and Naruto "Fucking fix your history books! I love my husband since I was 9!" (he actually didn't, but no one should know about it, okay)
And Madara is there just clinging to Tobirama with all his body and refusing to let go. He doesn't care about Eternal Tsukuyomi anymore, cuz he can hug his husband once more.
Migraine AUs sure are interesting

hey, for the izuna magical girl au, do u have any specific thoughts of them coming back from the dead wrong and how that would be like?
have a good day
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kawarama and Itama experience different side effects of coming back wrong, probably related to the amount of times they've been brought back— 3 for Itama ans 2 times for Kawarama. Itama has the most visible signs of it, while Kawarama seems the most fine (but is arguably affected even more heavily, just in the opposite direction)
If the pattern of death and revival were to continue, only bad things would follow. As is, the fact that they're well as put together as they are is kind of a minor miracle.
There's also probably some weird shit happening to their personalities / mental states, but I haven't thought too much ab it yet and it's nothing that can't be explained away by them just being a bit weird

Death Note x Naruto has taken over my brain these days, so I did another au (inspired by a friend's psychoanalysis on Madara who made me like bipolar Madara hc)
Tumblr media
Basically, Madara take Light Yagami's place as Kira, killing criminals. One of the differences, tho, is that he doesn't wanna be acknowledged, since it would make his objective a lot harder
Kaguya is the shinigami, yey!! Should've I used Black Zetsu due to his nonhuman look? Yes, but I wanted to make Kaguya with a Samara from The Ring aspect + Kaguya is the mind behind Zetsu in anime + I like her better = Kaguya won
ANYWAY!!! Some lore points I have for now:
— Izuna takes Misa's place, bc he wants to help his brother getting rid of all the bad people; he seems somewhat more excited/engaged for this whole "new world's god" thing than Madara tho
Unlike Misa, he doesn't have the shinigami eyes, since Madara doesn't want his younger brother to take half of his lifespan away, especially when he already got it. Idk if Izuna has his own death note, so maybe he helps his bro in some other way (like the Oracle from DC vibes?)
— Madara wrote Tobirama's name as a "test" to see if the notebook was true. Why? Because that's his brother's ex who broke up horribly with him so why not (they realized they don't know where he is, so they couldn't possibly know if it work. two dummies)
— L is Tobirama... in the sense of who's against Kira, not who's the detective
"But he's dead way before Kira's mass killing was recognized as someone's doing, how is that possible??" you may ask, and I say
"Tobirama" is a fake name
See, l like mad scientist Tobirama and it's variations, so I needed to put this here. He's a criminal who never got caught, a really secretive one about his personal life, so most of the time he's using a fake identity to prevent people to keep a track on him; so it means Izuna didn't know his actual name and gave the fake one to Madara
"Tobirama" was one of the first people to realize all those deaths were induced by someone, so, in order to prevent his possible death in case he's caught, he started to hunt who could be Kira
— "Tobirama" is Hashirama's brother. He dyes his hair and wear eye contacts (and other things too like, idk, different clothing, some light make up to give a different look on his face) while undercover, so he can take a double life
You can't even imagine Madara's surprise when he finally realize his friend's brother and "Tobirama" are the same person
(I wanna make Itama = Tobirama, with his white hair + red eyes combo being his undercover while he has natural colors in his actual appearance, but I'm still deciding how confusing and cool it could be)
— Near and Mello aren't related to L in the slightest. I haven't decided yet who they could be (Maybe Kakashi=Near and Obito=Mello), but they would still be really close to the government and be, indeed, detective prodigies
Maybe they're chasing Kira at the same time as L? If I decide so, it would make Madara's life way harder, since it's both a criminal (with other criminals' contacts and accessibilities) and the government (two people above it, tbh) against him..... nah, he'd be caught way earlier, I need fun

Whats tobirama's beef with the Uchiha?
An Analysis of Tobirama's Prejudice
EDIT: If you have headed here via another user's post, here is a note. That user has never interacted with me. They clearly also haven't read any of my previous or linked posts, as far as I can tell. They simply just blocked me and then made that post to harass me afterward - completely out of the blue. My post has since been edited to better combat bad-faith takes and bullies like her.
Oh boi. More Tobirama. Once again, I am probably biased but these are my thoughts on him.
First of all, the guy definitely had beef with the Uchiha Clan, but I personally find the "racist" allegations he often gets to be... difficult, to say the least (not that I necessarily disagree with them). It is just that there are some very oversimplified, black-and-white takes out there with zero nuance.
Not that I am necessarily better but I'm definitely trying xD
Tobirama's Prejudice
Tobirama doesn't "hate" the Uchiha Clan but considers them to be a danger to Konoha. That is because
The Uchiha were more loyal/attached to the concept of "clan" rather than the concept of "village" (which stood in conflict with one of Konoha's main philosophies). Hence Tobirama sees them as "rebellious".
The Uchiha are more likely to lose themselves to intense hatred (aka "Curse of Hatred"). And, in the world of Naruto, hate is one of the main motivations of war, ever since the Warring States.
Tumblr media
Combine that with the several bad experiences Tobirama and other Senju have had with the Uchiha (centuries of recurring battles, the death of Kawarama and Itama, Madara leaving the village) and you can see why Tobirama would think the Uchiha Clan is dangerous. Beyond that, Tobirama's character actually makes a lot of sense - more so than if he didn't have any prejudice. The prejudice he has is realistic.
He also personally does not believe that he "hates" the Uchiha and describes his bias as "caution".
The Racist Allegations
As I have already covered in this post about the Curse of Hatred, there might be parallels to our world's definition of racism, but Tobirama is not intended as a racist by Kishimoto.
What is important to understand is that perceived themes of racism in fantasy settings (where made-up races can have all sorts of magical differences between them, even those that are undesirable) do not equal actual racism in the real world (where racial differences are purely cosmetic) and often make for a bad analogy.
What I have also covered in the same post is that the Curse of Hatred very much does exist and Tobirama was right to assume that there is something "wrong" with the Uchiha. (For all of you not interested in reading, the TL;DR is that Zetsu's been manipulating the Uchiha for centuries, hence the illusion of a "curse")
Whether his theory was correct or not, however, is up to the audience's interpretation. The problem here is that Kishimoto never contradicted Tobirama's theories and also that they were presented and treated as exposition by the narrative. I am basing my own theory specifically on the exposition given by Hagoromo (chapters 670-671) and Zetsu (chapter 681) who are both relatively reliable sources and seem to imply (emphasis on "imply") that the Curse of Hatred mostly just affects Indra's reincarnates rather than the entire clan (again, reference to my other post because it has nothing to do with Indra specifically but rather just with Zetsu being manipulative).
Not that Tobirama could reasonably know about that detail, though. What he saw instead were centuries of war and Madara's defection, leading him to believe that there must be something influencing the Uchiha's decision-making. (And yes, assuming that my own interpretation about Zetsu is correct, that would make Tobirama a racist as his theories are not based on fact).
Systemic Oppression of the Uchiha?
Another misconception that people apparently have is that Tobirama ostracized the Uchiha Clan, which is untrue. Yes, the guy was horrible, was far too wrapped up in his own trauma, and should not have become Hokage. Not even because I think he was a bad leader necessarily but simply on principle.
That being said, the Uchiha were not being purposefully isolated from the rest of the village. The police force is neither entirely comprised of Uchihas nor are Uchihas forced to join the police. Instead, it is implied to be a choice in the manga.
Somebody else pointed out Orochimaru mentioning that the Uchiha had their clan compound near the prison. But this is not a criterion of ostracization. All the other canonical information we have on the Uchiha's supposed ostracization is based on Obito, who is famously a liar and not a reliable source (therefore it is up to headcanon).
Tumblr media
Tobirama also practically gave away permanent leadership of the police. The police are part of the executive branch in any government, just like the military or, in this case, the ANBU - with the only difference being that the police don't require Hokage orders for everything they do. The Uchihas working at the police are in a position of power rather than in a position of suppression. It is also implied that they are able to arrest anybody they want (except ANBU members) without a warrant (again, emphasis on "imply" because the context implies that arrest without a warrant is possible for all non-ANBU citizens).
Tumblr media
Keeping this in mind, the establishment of the Uchiha Military Police Force was (most likely) indeed a gesture of goodwill and trust. It was not a slight and it was not an attempt at ostrachization. If anything, it shows that Konoha (and by extension, the police) was corrupt and abusing power on a regular basis (though that is not the point of this post but yes, Konoha's politics are no unchangeable gospel).
There are more misconceptions about Tobirama that are often twisted to fit people's agenda, but I'll leave it at that for now.
My personal conclusion is that Tobirama might fit our real-world definition of "racist". But that heavily depends on your interpretation. Either way, Tobirama was a product of his times.

second funniest thing is how brutal, how serious, how bloody the writers describe those battles against each other, especially the one where tobirama wounds izuna mortally
meanwhile in canon their fight looked less impressive than genin fights in early naruto did. sorry but bby naruto and bby sasuke fighting against zabuza were more badass than that tbrm/izuna fight. tobirama almost looked into izuna's sharingan after having fought the uchiha for more than a decade lmaooo 😭🤚
i just love how the fandom looked at all these things and went, yeah no, this is most certainly not how it went
one of the funniest things abt the nart founders fandom - and also most amazing, but still undeniably funniest - is how much thought writers put into how the senju and uchiha would achieve long-lasting peace. there's just so much political thought put into it
meanwhile canon was like, and then hashirama and madara put an end to the centuries long war by shaking hands and everyone clapped and cheered and all was fine 😃👍
lol, it's amazing. i love it

Butsuma Senju teaching his sons how to breed
Tumblr media
Warnings: 18+ ONLY, everyone is above 18, incestuous relationship, younger sister reader, mentions of breeding, mentions of impregnation, dubcon, mention of virginity loss, dark content, don't like - don't not read
Tumblr media
Imagine being the youngest sibling and only sister of Hashirama and Tobirama. After the death of Kawarama and Itama, their father Butsuma had begun to train his daughter to become the perfect housewife. Hashirama was to become the next Senju clan leader after Butsuma, therefore it was important to teach him how to provide for a family and create enough heirs for the Senju main branch family. Butsuma would use his daughter as the perfect practice pussy–once she became a woman and began menstruating he would view this as the optimal time to begin breeding. As the father and head of the household, Butsuma would have the honor of deflowering his daughter while having his son’s watch. While initially they would not want to take part in this, the wet cries and hiccups from their cute sister quickly changed their minds. The brothers would be lying if they did not admit to being attracted to their sister’s newfound womanly body she had grown into. After the initial lesson and observation of Butsuma breeding his daughter, he will stand by and watch as his sons fuck their sister one-by-one. With three loads of hot cum deposited inside her fertile womb, there is no chance she would not be pregnant.

new Tobirama being extremely fucked up headcanon
(But not any more fucked up than the people around him)
Tobirama did not invent edo tensei in any sort of failed attempt to bring Itama and Kawarama back.  It was a weapon from the start and that never changed.  He would never have ever considered using it on someone he liked, or even respected.
Hashirama didn’t know about it.  Hashirama didn’t know about most of what Tobirama invented until it was complete, or nearly so, and became a potential strategic factor.  He wasn’t interested or concerned enough to track Tobirama’s progress before that point.
Butsuma was.
And Butsuma died, of wounds Tajima inflicted on him, while Hashirama was away on a long-term mission.
At Butsuma’s request, the first and only time Tobirama used edo tensei in his life, he used it to bring Butsuma back.
Butsuma killed Tajima, and led the Senju for however many weeks were needed until Hashirama returned and could take up the position of clan head himself.
The day after Hashirama returned, once he had been filled in on everything that had happened and everything Butsuma considered especially important, Tobirama released Butsuma back into (this time permanent) death.
Hashirama immediately forbid Tobirama, or anyone, from ever using edo tensei again.
Tobirama did not argue.

When Itama died, Tobirama was just a second too late. In a moment of desperation, he called for his brother's soul to be returned and the Shinigami accepted his bargain. Hmmm okay prompt: premise: people can, once in their lifetime, basically will the universe into granting whatever is their soulmate's greatest wish at the time they do this. Shinobi will usually save this to use as a get out of death free card (which USUALLY works, because "survive" is a pretty strong impulse when you're about to die, but not always), riches are common, as are the deaths of abusive bosses/parents/etc.
...we all know what Tobirama's greatest wish has nothing to do with being alive himself. So now they're about to die AND have to deal with Kawarama and Itama (plus or minus Hashirama depending on when you set it) who have no idea what's going on.
Oh Youve Done It Now
It's been years since Tobirama has felt this chakra. Longer still since it's been turned towards healing him.
Even with it, his whole body aches. Exhaustion piled upon exhaustion, and he'd lost track of his injuries very early into the fight. He knows only that it hurts to breathe, yet his body stubbornly continues to do it despite each inhale rattling inside of him.
He must be dying, he thinks. His mind has conjured up some fantasy to comfort him as his life fades.
"I know you're awake, otouto." Hashirama's voice, in the same tone he'd use when one of his experiments was particularly troublesome -- exasperated, but ultimately unable to hide his worry. "I'd really like an explanation."
"I think I might have one." That voice would be Hikaku's, who should not be anywhere near here, and so the one whose presence only cements this as a strange dream. "Your brother, even on the verge of death, has only ever wished for one thing."
Silence stretches, the whole world is silent and muffled except for the sense-memory of sunlight through trees as Hashirama's chakra knits together bones.
A sigh. "He did warn me. Though I suppose this did work, in its own way."
"Wait, Hikaku-san, you--"
"But you're an Uchiha!" A voice Tobirama hasn't heard in many, many years shouts. It's enough to have him forcing his heavy eyelids open -- even if it's not real, he needs to see--
Hashirama is leaning over him, curtain of hair blocking out most everything else as he heals the crater that Tobirama's chest has become. He looks younger than he did when he died, though not overly so; a snapshot from those few years when he'd gained laugh lines but not yet stress wrinkles around his eyes.
"Don't sit up." He warns, his voice is stern, but there's something fragile in his eyes, "And don't infuse chakra, or I'll knock you out again."
He wouldn't even have to make good on the threat; Tobirama would probably lose consciousness for even trying.
"'nija." He says. Is all he can make himself say between the pain and the tightness of his throat. Hashirama smiles tightly and leans back -- enough for the two figures taking refuge behind him to lean around and look at him with wide eyes.
"Wow, aniki. You got old. What happened to your face?" Kawarama.
Whether he's referring to the red slashes that Tobirama had only made after his death or one of his other injuries, he doesn't know. It doesn't matter, really.
Tobirama's eyes burn. His instinct is to look away, to hide his face, but he doesn't dare.
"That's mean, nii-san. He's hurt." Itama is grabbing onto Hashirama's robe with one white knuckled fist and Kawarama's wrist with the other. The two of them are the same age that they were when they died, the same way that they've been frozen in Tobirama's memories. Kawarama was born first, but brought back like this, Itama has a year and a few centimeters of height on him.
Kawarama makes a disapproving noise -- his eyebrows are furrowed like they did when he was worried and trying not to let it show. He glances obviously to the side, scowls at what he sees, then puffs out his cheeks and steps out of Hashirama's shadow. He doesn't go far -- only to get close enough to sit by Tobirama's head and tug at his hair -- but Itama lets himself be dragged behind and releases his grip on Hashirama to pick up his hand instead.
I missed you. He wants to say. I missed you, I'm sorry, I missed you. He knows better than to leave things unsaid, sucks in a breath to try, and it's agony. Blood stains his teeth; his vision greys and Hashirama is saying something that runs through his ears without registering. His chakra swells until Tobirama can taste it on the back of his tongue,  until it drowns out the pain behind its own presence.
He loses time. Kawarama is petting at his hair now, and Itama is mapping the scars on his hands, but both of them refuse to settle, eyes flicking up to watch some threat. Tobirama is in no state to defend them if they should need it, but he forces himself to move despite the pounding weight of his head and look.
They are, he belatedly realizes, in a dome of mokuton vines, and sitting against the far wall, hands visible on his knees, is Hikaku. And he knows why his brothers would be wary of him, but after all these years Tobirama can't see him in that light any longer.
The Uchiha smiles wryly.
"I followed as soon as I heard where you were headed." He says. "No point in having a wish that never gets used."
"So you really are soulmates." Kawarama grumbles. And Tobirama wants -- he wants to promise Kawarama that Hikaku won't hurt him. That no harm will ever come to him again. But with a slow, choking panic, he realizes that he does not even have the strength to turn his head and see him again. He squeezes Itama's hand instead, fingers trembling.
"We're at peace now!" Hashirama says, leaning back from where he was holding his hands over Tobirama's chest to wipe at his brow. Tobirama can see a sunny smile in the corner of his eye. "Just like we used to talk about."
"...Uhm." Itama says after a beat. "If we're at peace, then who were those guys you were fighting?"
"Aah, that's, well--" Hashirama glances at Tobirama first, and then remembering that he's in no state to speak turns to Hikaku instead.
The Uchiha sighs, with that slight twist of a smile that means he thinks something is ridiculous but he won't say it.
"That was supposedly one of Kumo's best squads. Your death was enough of a perceived weakness that Suna started making aggressive action to claim more land. Kumo and Iwa started targeting our shinobi shortly afterwards…"
It's a basic summary of the political situation that Tobirama has been living with for years now, and he tunes it out without quite meaning to.
All of his most important people are here, are with him. It's a nice enough sentiment to die to.
--
It's dark.
Tobirama feels like he's withered dry and might crack apart into dust if he so much as moves a muscle. The pain of breathing isn't agony, anymore, at least. More an aching pulse that rises and ebbs with each breath.
He's horribly disoriented for a long moment --truly dead, now? -- he's lying down, something soft placed over a hard uneven surface, there are two tiny motes of warmth curled up on either side of him, and there's a conversation going on above his head.  That's probably what woke him.
"I should have known he wasn't over his prejudice against your clan." Hashirama sighs, "I'm sorry--"
"I'm not going to pretend he's our greatest ally, but I don't think you would have been able to do much better." Hikaku cuts him off sharply. Having lived past the age that Hashirama was when he died, he has apparently decided to abandon the deferential respect that he used to have. "I'm certain he would love to let us fight -- keeping them back is my choice. The countries we are at war with have no laws against eye theft. They have bounties for each bloodline they can take, and ours is the highest."
Tobirama blinks, but there is no moonlight for him to see by. They'd tried to make it work. Barbaric as the Hyuga seal is, it is useful; but no matter the modifications Tobirama makes to it, Hikaku cannot get his clan to agree to use it, and without it his clan members are all targets too tempting for their enemies to leave alone. But why is he telling Hashirama this…?
"We have as much sway as any other clan in the council. You are the one who named your own brother as a successor, and got half of my clan convinced they needed more power or risk being destroyed."
Hence the military police plan, and Tobirama isn't certain it will help much. If the Uchiha can't fight on behalf of the village, fighting within it is about the only thing left for them to do -- he figured he might as well at least make it productive.
"You know," Hikaku continues, voice flat, "There was a faction of my clan that wanted to follow in Madara's footsteps. We're all trying our best, Shodai-sama."
There was a plan to assassinate him, which Hikaku dealt with before it could become public. Tobirama is thankful for that, but it has left his soulmate deeply unpopular within his clan.
This feels like a very strange way to have one's life flash before their eyes.
"I… see. I apologize. I'll speak with Tobirama before making any more assumptions." Hashirama says, clearly cowed. There is a long moment of silence, then, "…Do you truly call him by his title? When the two of you are soulmates?"
"He refuses to ruin what little authority I have over my clan by acknowledging it publicly." Hikaku's tone is harsh, now, though if he has an issue with that he's never brought it to Tobirama's attention.
A moot effort now, Tobirama thinks muzzily. Hikaku might be thinking that too, from the way he sighs.
"Tend to your brother, Shodai-sama. I'll keep watch."
The wave of chakra his brother sends over him sends Tobirama into a darkness of a different kind.
--
When he awakens again he's horribly nauseous. The weightlessness of open air alternates with a dull shock that sends a jolting ache through his body every time it happens. It's manageable; Tobirama could fight through this, if he had to.
But he won't have to. Hashirama has him, one arm secure under his knees, the other his neck, holding him tight to his chest to try and mitigate the impact of each jump.
He's moving much slower than he should be, if his goal is to get an injured person to safety.
Tobirama peels his eyes open, squinting in the wind as the treetops whip past overhead. He has enough strength in him now that he can reach up and grab at the front of his robe, though he grunts from the effort.
"Anija." He rasps. There was still so much left unsaid between them at the end. Enough that Tobirama doesn't even know where to start, aside from the obvious, "I'm--"
"Oh Tobi, good! Hashirama doesn't even seem aware that he's cut anything off. "He's awake!" He announces over this shoulder, and drops from the trees to the ground, landing with a thump. Hashirama is obviously trying to muffle the impact, but it makes him twitch and hiss in pain regardless.
He's healed enough now that when Hashirama  goes to set him down against a tree trunk he can keep himself upright, but not without his arms shaking from the effort.
"We still really shouldn't be moving you." His brother comments idly as he sends a light pulse of diagnostic chakra through his system, "I really wish we'd been able to use a stretcher. And you're going to take forever to recover your chakra after how much I had to dump into you. But if you actually rest when we get home, you should end up alright."
His hands flutter around until he finds a water skin -- Uchiha mon stamped on, so it must actually be Hikaku's -- and shoves it in Tobirama's face. He's able to get a grip on it enough to hold it himself -- the water is stale but the he relief of it sharp, settling over him like a blanket.
"Hikaku-san went ahead to alert everyone as soon as we got into safe territory." Hashirama chatters on, "There should be a patrol coming to meet us. You really had us worried there for a minute!"
As he talks, Tobirama's eyes don't move from the two figures that have landed behind Hashirama and are peering over his shoulders.
"Seriously." Kawarama says, "I don't think you've ever slept that long."
"I--" Tobirama chokes out, "I haven't died, have I?"
"No." Itama says, eyebrows knitted together.
"You'd better not have." Kawarama echoes with a scowl
"You're the only one here who hasn't!" Hashirama smiles, like he's made a joke, but it slips right back off his face at whatever he sees when he meets Tobirama's eyes.
"Oh, Tobi…" He says sorrowfully, but Itama beats him to whatever he's planning on doing, darting around Hashirama and carefully but forcefully wrapping his arms around Tobirama's neck. Not to be outdone, Kawarama squawks and secures a hold around one of his shoulders.
Tobirama's eyes burn, and he buries his face into a bony shoulder, so he's not able to see when Hashirama moves to pull all of them into his arms. He's lived long enough that the grief of their deaths had scarred over, but this has ripped the wound gaping open wide.
"It must have been lonely." Itama says, voice muffled in Tobirama's fur.
"We're here now though." Kawarama insists. His voice wavers so he buries his face in fur, too.
“Yeah.” Hashirama agrees, chin resting on top of Tobirama’s head. “We’re all here, now.”

It's a bit of a cringe au based on steven universe. I do not know if I will still draw on this The plot was based on the fact that the boy Madara lives with his three brothers and his father, but Madara is not their native. There is an obsidian stone on his chest, under his clothes, but Tajima thinks that this is normal and just tells Madara to live with it (yesthis is a plot hole) Then he somehow discovers the White Diamond, who wanders through the forest and just enjoys the organics. This is how their friendship begins The whole point of this alternate universe is that Madara used to be an Obsidian, lived with other precious stones and played the role of a guardian. There was a spark between him and the White Diamond itself (they even merged once). But then, considering himself inferior, Obsidian finds fragments of a Purple Diamond and inserts them into himself, but eventually goes a little crazy and almost splits the White Diamond. Trying to defend himself, he, White Diamond, slightly destroys Obsidian, but he escapes, faking his death. The Purple Diamond changes Obsidian's appearance and erases his memory, trying to gradually take over his body, but at that moment Tajima finds him under his door. When they meet, neither Madara nor White Diamond recognize each other. In this au: - Tajima is a dentist - Butsuma is a judo coach (he has two sons, Itama and Kawarama and is Tajima's neighbor. They hate each other) - White Diamond - Hashirama, Blue Diamond - Tobirama, Red -Diamond - Hiruzen, Yellow Diamond - Minato - Lapis Lazuli - Izuna, - Yellow Pearl - Kakashi, - Topaz - Yamato, - Purple Diamond - Indra, - Peanut Obsidian - Ashura
I'm sorry about that

trick or treat! may I ask about TYPHOON ISLAND? :D
Absolutely, and thank you!
And... hm, I'm going to put the rambling under a cut, because it's technically a little bit a spoiler. Not, like, one that I think would matter? But just in case. (Also this got... long.)
Warning for some discussion of pregnancy and complications thereof including maternal death and stillbirth, although nothing in detail.
So the headcanon I'm using for Typhoon Island is that Butsuma had three wives.
The first wife died as a result of a pregnancy-related illness. It should have killed her well before the child could be born, but the child in question was Hashirama, and the mokuton healing kept her alive long enough for him to be born, after which she died quickly. (Hashirama has... a little bit of Issue around knowing that his birth killed his mother, though no one is aware of the mokuton aspect of it. He also has way bigger issues, though, this is pretty far down the list.)
Butsuma's second wife was an Uzumaki, which should have neatly reaffirmed the alliance between the clans. And, you know, did at first!
Buuuut her first pregnancy was... kind of twins. The first baby was either stillborn or died within a few hours of birth. The second was Tobirama, who was born weak enough that everyone expected he would die too, and had unlucky/ominous coloration on top of that.
The Senju, shall we say, didn't handle it well, and blamed the Uzumaki wife. Some of them wanted to kill Tobirama, or at least abandon him to avoid wasting resources caring for him when he was expected to die anyway. In the end his mother agreed to be sent back to the Uzumaki in exchange for a guarantee that Tobirama wouldn't be harmed (or denied medical support etc). That severely strained the relationship between the Senju and Uzumaki.
Among other things, the Uzumaki made paper to test chakra natures, because that's actually a very complex multi-part seal, which must be made by multiple people with different chakra natures, and is traditionally done in either white or invisible ink, to make it harder to copy (but also makes it harder to create). After Tobirama's mother was sent back, the Uzumaki refused to sell those chakra testing papers to the Senju. The Senju had some stockpiled still, so Hashirama and Tobirama were able to get their chakra natures tested when they were old enough, but they had run out by the time it would have been Itama's and Kawarama's turns. Which in turn slowed down their training, because they didn't know which elements to focus on.
And they were both wildly outclassed when they died, so probably if Tobirama's mother had stayed with the Senju instead of protecting Tobirama and the Senju had still had chakra papers it wouldn't have saved them, but. There's a tiny little 'what if' there and Tobirama does not enjoy it.
Anyway, that whole mess is why Hashirama needed to marry an Uzumaki to repair the relationship between the clans. Until the HashiMito marriage Tobirama ended up being basically the only link between the clans, because he was invited to visit the Uzumaki and study sealing during the summers, mainly because his mother wanted to see him. (The Uzumaki would also have been pleased if Tobirama had decided he wanted to just stay with them and become an Uzumaki himself, but he was too loyal to consider it and they didn't push.) He eventually stopped going when Izuna got powerful enough that no one else could take Tobirama's place fighting him, but Tobirama still has a strong relationship with the Uzumaki as a whole and several individuals, which is why they asked him to come rescue the Uzumaki kids that were kidnapped by bloodline thieves.
(I have less specifics about Itama and Kawarama's mother. She was probably either a Senju or from a much smaller/weaker allied clan. She might have been assassinated by enemies or just died of a regular illness, but she died maybe a few years before Kawarama did.)
The reason all of this is relevant is because once Tobirama, Izuna, Hikaku, and their collection of rescued children get off the island they're currently on, they're going to stop first at the Uzumaki, and stay there for a bit.
Which means Izuna and Hikaku, who by that point are both fully aware that they're pining for Tobirama, are going to meet Tobirama's mother and friends. All of whom are fully aware that Izuna has been trying to kill Tobirama for a decade and a half or so. And many of whom are fond of pranks.
And while Tobirama's mother may not know, his friends are aware that one of the side effects of puberty which Tobirama did not enjoy was the sudden development of sexy dreams about Izuna. Most of them are pretty sure that if Tobirama was having that many sexy dreams about someone who only ever tried to kill him, Tobirama must have some kinks. Tobirama is itching to show them that no, that is not conclusive evidence, Uchiha are just all supernaturally pretty.
Absolutely zero of these people will consider getting out of Izuna's or Hikaku's hearing before debating this.

Madara as Regina Mills and the Infinite Tsukuyomi as his curse, season 1 of Once Upon a Time style
Tobirama as Emma, coming in to break the curse, and Hashirama kind of filling the roll of Snow White, the brothers unable to recognize or remember each other but feeling each other's loss all the same (which in itself is kind of the greatest punishment for Izuna's death that Madara could give, save for actually killing one of them)
Maybe Kagami as Henry? Him somehow breaking through the curse and finding Tobirama and trying to bring him back to the little town of Konoha, knowing he's one of the only people who can get through to Madara. But also Tobirama doesnt remember anything anyways, so to him he's just humoring this kid
Ok actually scratch, rewind, lets take this from the top;
Ok so. Madara casts the Infinite Tsukuyomi, but instead of it being a dream it casts Konoha into the modern world, where everyone is given some role to fill in the little town of Konoha, and only Madara remembers how they all got there.
Madara sets some stuff up, like gives certain people certain roles and memories, and also bc something something magic something something the perfect dream, within the bounds of the town, Izuna + some other dead people exist. Madara isn't especially focused on the other dead, just Izuna, so he actually is partially unaware of the details of who else may have gotten revived (Itama is totally there somewhere, lost in the crowds)
Now, Madara did not truly design this town, nor the lives of the people in it. He could have, but he didn't bc he was a bit focused on just his own wants. So a lot of families got separated, things got mixed up, that sort of thing. Including the Senju brothers. Hashirama and Itama have no idea that they're siblings, and Tobirama is another ballpark all on his own.
You see, in a bit of a petty act and also a bit of paranoia bc 'something something best sensor in history' something something 'dont wanna take any chances' and also definitely a bit of last minute impulsive 'hey fuck you, I get my brother back but you dont, bitch' Madara pressed the "you are just a normal man who has no family" illusion onto Tobirama then kicked him out of town
With that said and done, Izuna by his side, Hashirama also positioned suitably close (maybe as an aid since he's Madara is the mayor?) Madara goes ahead and pats himself on the back and enters the Infinite Tsukuyomi himself, forgetting it all and able to truly live that happy, blissfully unaware life he had worked so hard for.
(Just ignore the burning fires in the background where Madara didn't think to double check if anyone else's roles lined up well with their original selves. Or the fact that Itama and some other dead people are totally wandering around in the bg, both them, their families, and even Madara none the wiser)
So anyways, just like in Once Upon a Time, time itself is pretty much frozen. No one ages, every day runs about the same, and honestly who knows how long this town has been here now-- because its residents sure as hell dont!
But then.
One day, somehow little Kagami somehow awakens the Mangekyō Sharingan, possibly through a pure chance fluke of the illusion wavering for unrelated reasons (bc it also supresses any chakra use) and Kagami's mangekyō's ability, whatever tf it is, allows him to break himself out of the genjutsu.
Making him now the only person in the town who's aware of the fact that they're all in some sort of illusion-- though the details escape him bc hes like. 13 and didn't know everything happening behind the scenes.
Oh also note, the ages and time frame of this is just all over the place and we will not think ab it too hard.
So Kagami ofc begins to investigate, he has very little idea of whats going on at all but he does quickly pick up on the fact that he can find just about anyone in Konoha here-- but not his sensei. And Sensei always knows what to do, so now he has a mission
Queue Kagami somehow tracking Tobirama down in the outside world, just like Henry did with Emma. Don't know the specifics of how tho!
So now cut to Tobirama:
First off, him as a parallel to Emma Swan is actually so good its kind of funny. I say he gets to keep being somehow able to 'know when someone is lying' (it's the traces of his obnoxiously powerful sensing abilities leaking even through the best of genjutsu)
He's some kind of private detective maybe? Idk but whatever he is, he's freelance and travels a lot
(Which helps keep attention from the fact that he, even removed from the town, does not seem to age-- something even he himself has not noticed)
So Tobirama is just living his kind of shitty, honestly a little depressing life. He has no attachments; He always feels like he's missing something or someone; He can never seem to connect with anyone, and people even seem to forget he exists when he's out of sight for too long (almost as if they're made to forget, as if he really was never meant to be here or be seen)
And then one day this tiny kid is banging on his door calling him Sensei and begging him in tears to come back to the village because everyones gone crazy and someones cast a genjutsu over EVERYONE and Izuna is somehow alive again and--
Woah woah slow down. First, who the fuck are you actually.
*insert stressed Kagami brain car crash noises here*
So yeah !! Tobirama doesn't know who tf this kid is, but he will drive him back to town and give his parents a good talking to.
Hikaku, Kagami's polite and stressed looking uncle, is very relieved to see him back home
Kagami is literally begging Tobirama to stay it's actually painful to watch and no one can understand why he's so fucking pressed about it. And for some reason, Tobirama decides to stay. But only for a little bit, you hear?
(It will not be for a little bit.)
And just like that, the clock tower begins to move, and time begins to pass once more. And both Kagami and Tobirama slowly piece together what exactly happened to get them here, and how the town might be broken out of it's enchantment
OK SO WITH THAT SET UP / PREMISE ON THE GROUND LETS TALK FUN DETAILS
So like. Tobirama and Hashirama having no idea they're brothers. Double to that, Itama is somewhere around! And no one fucking knows it!
Madara does not know what he's done, he is living his best life fr fr, but in contrast to how Hashirama and Tobirama seem to instantly click, Madara just kind of fucking hates this guy on sight for some reason. There's a lot of tension there and everyone in the office is making bets on if they're gonna kiss (Izuna has money riding on it)
So like Madara, Izuna, Hikaku and Hashirama running the mayors office n stuff, with Madara as the mayor
Tobirama eventually ends up as Sherrif just like Emma which is also irony bc smthn smthn Uchiha police force agenda or whatever. And then him and Madara regularly get into very public fights over clashing ideals
Im tied between saying that the timeline for this is like, just wishy washy "hey dont worry ab it" and tossing in Kakashi's generation + others for fun and to fill in spaces
Or saying that just like how the Infinite Tsukuyomi seemed to bring some people back to life within the boundaries of the town, there are some legit time bending aspects of it, and just like how we have people who are supposed to be dead, we also have people who just shouldn't be born yet. Fun stuff!
But like Kakashi Obito and Rin are totally around. Somwhere. Also Sakumo but Kakashi still believes his father is dead and Sakumo can no longer remember Kakashi exists (rip)
Itama is the towns one weed dealer and also a plant scientist bc I fucking refuse to give up on the stoner Itama agenda, that is my default Itama in every AU now. Oh also he's like an adult, and we're also sticking with the him and Tobirama being twins agenda
He and Tobirama meeting for the first time with sheriff Tobirama arresting him for selling weed pass would be the funniest thing
Touka is the deputy sheriff and she and Tobirama get along like a house on fire, and then bc convoluted reasons they somehow rope Itama into working w them for parole/community service or smthn. Dream team!!
But yeah thats it thats the post thanks for listening Im gonna go stare at a wall now

Do you have any hcs for the senju bros in knfau
Tumblr media
The bros be broing
Growing up, kawarama was the “psst! are you still awake?” Brother
Tobirama was the “shut up!” Brother
Itama was the one telling them they would wake up dad if they weren’t quiet which of course they weren’t
Hashirama slept through most of it
Tobirama took the blame if they woke up their parents
They made faces at each other when their father would rant and have his back turned to them. With Tobirama evil eyeing them for being disrespectful
All of them favored their over their father, which made her death really hard on them. In this AU she died saving Itama
It’s left Itama with a lot of guilt
Although she was a shinobi just like their father, she was a lot more patient with them and still treated them like her children, not just tools of war
They argued a lot over the dumbest things and their mother would just say “that’s your brother, be kind”
Completely a given, but Tobirama exercises critical thinking more than his brothers
And that infuriates him. No Hashirama, that idea isn’t smart. No Kawarama, rushing in to battle isn’t a strategy. No Itama, you can’t sit this one out. Why are you all like this?
He’s harder on Itama than any of his brothers because the man still cries openly at times and he genuinely worried about him making himself a target or choking in a fight. Toughen up 💀
Tobirama enjoys missions with Kawarama more because he sticks to the plan and doesn’t ever complain about it
Because of this, the two train and spar together a lot
Hates it when they get drunk because they tend to mimic him and his seriousness not saying he’s water blasted them for this… but disrespect is dealt with promptly
Hashirama is the brother everyone vents to, for better or worse. He loves that they trust him enough to tell him whats troubling them
He’s also the one that comes knocking for boys nights with alcohol and gambling in town
him and kawarama have to pry Tobirama off the door frame to get him to go with them most nights, but they end up having fun
He officiated all their weddings too. Proud big brother moment 🥳
Kawarama tends to feel antsy if he’s not busy working, training, or fighting
So he’s some what of prankster to pass time
He’s also the one with the biggest appetite
Like Hashirama, he’s got faith in the Konoha + Uchiha. Managing to make a few friends in the Uchiha is his bragging rights
Wraps his scars because he has a lot of them and he’s trying to look less “scary” after they made some kids cry
Itama, the soft hearted armorer
He doesn’t have many friends outside his brothers because he keeps to himself
He’s constantly trying to keep a low profile
Doesn’t think he deserves nice things but will give the shirt off his back if someone needs it
Self loathing plagues him still some days. Has crescent scars on his palms from balling his fists to hard durning a particular rough scolding from their father
Likes flowers and will pick some fresh wild ones to place in jars in his room.
Uses the fact that people underestimate him to his advantage, because he’s still a well trained Senju and deadly
They all make big deals out of each other’s birthdays and will be bummed if they have to miss it. So they can expect a do-over birthday at some point when they’re all in town
All of them have loud laughs, including Tobirama (you just have to work for more than a low chuckle with him)
Itama and Tobirama are the most wary of Madara and Hashirama’s friendship
Hashirama and Kawarama have a ton of inside jokes
all and some sweet and funny bros to witness together

Madara's other three siblings were all boys like him and Izuna?
Did Madara Have Any Sisters?
Not 100% sure because I am not a Japanese speaker (I just sometimes like to research these types of questions). So if there's a Japanese speaker among us, please correct me on any of this if I am wrong. Also correct me if I missed any information here.
There are different English translations floating around, some in which Madara refers to his siblings just as, well, "siblings" and others in which he calls them "brothers". In the Japanese version, Madara consistently uses 兄弟 (Kyōdai) to refer to his siblings. This is the same word that all translations seem to translate into "siblings" whenever it is used by Hashirama.
According to my research, the Japanese word for "siblings" is 兄弟 (Kyōdai)... but 兄弟 (Kyōdai) also means "brothers". This makes the meaning of 兄弟 (Kyōdai) ambiguous and dependant on context.
Tumblr media
Kyōdai and Gender-Neutrality
The crux of the issue is that Japanese does not have a gender-neutral term for "siblings". As a quick overview, there's...
兄弟 (Kyōdai) using the kanji for "older brother" + "younger brother" 兄妹 (Keimai) using the kanji for "older brother" + "younger sister" 姉弟 (Shitei) using the kanji for "older sister" + "younger brother" 姉妹 (Shimai) using the kanji for "older sister" + "younger sister"
And as if to make it all worse, it appears that each of the above can also be read as きょだい "Kyōdai" though this appears to be a less common reading but not impossible, as seen in the case of the sand sibling trio 砂の三姉弟 (Suna no Sankyōdai).
The Japanese solve this issue of not having an exclusive term for "siblings" by making "Kyōdai" double as both "brothers" and "siblings". The meaning is even more ambiguous in spoken Japanese, as otherwise, the use of its kanji form 兄弟 (kanji for "older brother" + "younger brother") has a strong association with male siblings.
To avoid confusion in written text, "Kyōdai" can be spelled きょうだい using only hiragana (which is the closest thing to an ABC that Japanese has), avoiding using male-associated kanji. You can also combine "brothers" and "sisters" into 兄弟姉妹 (Kyōdaishimai). Neither of those are strict rules, however, which is also the reason why Kishimoto uses the kanji version of 兄弟 even when Hashirama refers to the village which has a mix of different genders (compare with the manga panels above).
Alternatively, if you want to specify male siblings only, you can use 弟 (Otōto) to say "younger brothers" or 男兄弟 (Otokokyōdai) to say "male siblings".
Hashirama and Madara on Kyōdai
Unfortunately, none of this helps us clear up the confusion. Evidently, when Kishimoto gave Madara siblings, he was not bothered enough to specify whether Madara had sisters or not due to the ambiguity of 兄弟 (Kyōdai). The best we can do from here is try to infer what might be implied through context.
The most suitable scene we have for gauging the intention behind Madara's use of 兄弟 (Kyōdai) here is probably one from Chapter #622. After the death of Itama, Hashirama asks Madara whether he has any 兄弟 (Kyōdai), hoping to connect with him. Madara responds, saying he is one of five 兄弟 (Kyōdai).
Tumblr media
Since Madara is responding to a question here, the meaning of Madara's 兄弟 (Kyōdai) depends on his own understanding of Hashirama's use of 兄弟 (Kyōdai).
What Does Hashirama Refer to?
The overarching context of this flashback and the subject it focuses on are the untimely deaths of children on the battlefield (regardless of gender) and Hashirama's opposition to war which is informed by his grief as an older brother.
Although Hashirama has just lost a younger brother specifically, he is likely not seeking to connect via the concept of losing a brother only. He is seeking to connect via the general grief and anger that comes with losing a close family member and one who was still a child at that. This opens up an opportunity for Hashirama to not only talk about his loss but also the injustices of the shinobi world that so willingly takes the lives of children.
It is, of course, entirely possible that Hashirama is still referring to male siblings only, but the problem is that he is using spoken Japanese yet doesn't verbally express any specifications when 男兄弟 (Otokokyōdai) and 弟 (Otōto) are perfectly fine options. Additionally, he has little reason to narrow down the meaning of 兄弟 (Kyōdai) to male siblings only. Perhaps he finds the connection between a brother and sister to be less significant or relatable than the connection between two brothers, but that's about it.
What Does Madara Refer to?
Since Hashirama was asking for 兄弟 (Kyōdai) of any gender, Madara has no reason to specify the gender of his siblings either. Since he adopts the ambiguous 兄弟 (Kyōdai) from Hashirama, we can assume that his use of the word was just as ambiguous.
I personally don't see how Hashirama could understand Madara's use of 兄弟 (Kyōdai) to definitively mean "brothers only" in this instance (though perhaps I am just missing something here). If at all, it is only us readers who could possibly understand 兄弟 (Kyōdai) to mean "brothers only" due to its kanji combination. Even then the kanjis 兄弟 may have simply been used for the sake of brevity (small speech bubbles and all) and not necessarily to imply brothers specifically.
Due to the two different meanings of 兄弟 (Kyōdai) being virtually indistinguishable from one another, Madara could have theoretically also just misunderstood Hashirama's question. While that is an unlikely scenario, the option isn't entirely off the table either.
For the fanfic writers: In either of these two scenarios, Madara never specifies that he doesn't have sisters. Assuming he uses 兄弟 (Kyōdai) ambiguously, Madara's and Izuna's other three siblings might include sisters. Assuming he thinks he is being asked about only his male siblings specifically, telling Hashirama he has four brothers does not rule out the possibility that Madara might have sisters on top of those four brothers.
The only case in which this doesn't hold true is in one in which Hashirama's 兄弟 (Kyōdai) is ambiguous whereas Madara's is not. You wouldn't reply to "do you have any siblings" with an answer that leaves out your sisters unless for good reason.
Madara's Otōto
Remember how I said that if you mean male siblings only, you can just use 男兄弟 (Otokokyōdai) or 弟 (Otōto)? Well, Madara is perfectly capable of using that in Chapter #625.
In a mirror of Chapter #623, Madara explains how he couldn't protect his 弟 (Otōto) which means "younger brother(s)". Due to Japanese not having any plurals in the English sense, 弟 (Otōto) can both refer to just one or multiple little brothers. Considering the context of Madara referring to the promise he made to Izuna, 弟 (Otōto) likely refers to Izuna alone in this instance.
Using 弟 (Otōto) is an interesting choice of words though, as in Chapter #623 Madara uses 兄弟 (Kyōdai) instead. Unlike 兄弟 (Kyōdai), 弟 (Otōto) both specifies the age of the sibling relative to Madara as well as their gender. This might imply that Madara's other siblings are not just younger brothers - instead, his 兄弟 (Kyōdai) may include female siblings, younger siblings, or both for the distinction to make sense.
Tumblr media
The notion that Madara had older brothers might conflict with information from the databooks, depending on your interpretation of 長男 (Chōnan) which can either mean "first-born son" or "oldest son". As far as my understanding goes, the latter may still apply to a younger son under the condition that his elder brothers have died.
The databook page also seems to be focused on Tajima's sons specifically, but we also have to remember that the page is likely referring to a point in time at which he has already lost three of his children, some of which may have been female.
Note: The English translation is also a little mistranslated. In the Japanese version, Tajima was "willing to use his 子 (Ko = children)" and "viewed the love for his 息子 (Musuko = sons) as objective". Or maybe the text says something slightly different because I only checked the translation for "son", haha. Anyway, the English version, instead, only talks about Tajima's "sons".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So to Summarize
- Hashirama likely meant "siblings" when using 兄弟 (Kyōdai). In response, Madara likely referred to "siblings" as well. In this scenario, Madara has four siblings but potentially of different genders (some of which may be older than Madara). - In the event that Madara thought/knew that Hashirama referred to "brothers" instead, Madara may have only mentioned his male siblings - but this doesn't eliminate the possibility of sisters. In this scenario, Madara has four brothers (some of which are likely older than Madara) and an unknown number of sisters. - We can only safely assume that Madara did not have any sisters under the assumption that he understood Hashirama's question to mean 兄弟 (Kyōdai) but opted for intentional miscommunication instead. In this scenario, Madara only has four brothers (some of which are likely older than Madara).
Personally, I cannot give you a definitive answer on the issues. There are lots of what-ifs at play and I believe Kishimoto may have just left it deliberately vague. I think there's a good chance Madara was referring to both male and female siblings due to his consistent use of 兄弟 (Kyōdai) in opposition to 男兄弟 (Otokokyōdai) or 弟 (Otōto). The problem is that we just don't know. But in the event that Kishimoto intentionally made Madara use 兄弟 (Kyōdai) with male kanji specifically, I'd at least argue that Madara had at least one older brother due to the distinction Madara makes between Izuna and his brothers as a whole.
However, please keep in mind that I am not a Japanese speaker (I neither grew up with the language nor did I study it at any point in time) which is why you should take anything I said with a barrel of salt. Everything in this post is the result of research and not any of my personal expertise.
