I think I have a new obsession: Some time ago I took home a Czechoslovakian LP of an Italian singer I never had heard of. Once I started playing the LP I totally got drawn into it. Some research later I found out that Anna Rustikano never rose to fame in her home country Italy, but had huge success in Czechoslovakia, where she was considered among the biggest stars from Italy.
And this Video of a performance of „Libera“ has it all: the weird host, that tries to joke in Italian only to confuse her (no, she's not singing „Volare“, one of the biggest Italian songs ever), the band in the background that pretends it's not a playback track, the audience totally apathetic (except of the old lady that waves towards the camera) and Anna Rusticanos dancing seems a little lost. The song gives me everything … I am totally obsessed.

I was rather taken aback by the 'hit me one time, hit me twice' in English.....
I think everyone needs to listen to the Dutch version of Toxic Love because damn, that voice is something.

I'm always reading some horrible stories about grandparents' love story
Mine (mother's side) is just so sweet Grandpa was a substitute teacher at a middle school Grandma was a teacher in kindergarten They met at the union's reunion
Since then it's two lovebirds (mum's birthdate is suspicious considering when they got married) (they didn't want to get married on the first place, yk grandpa is a communist and granny an anarchist, they didn't believe that much in marriage) (but granny was raised by an Italian communist father, who was first and foremost Italian, so "Daughter, don't you DARE have a child out of wedlock")
And like Today? They're devoted to each other Love exists cuz my grandparents are so disgustingly in love
EVEN THEIR PARENTS ARE WHOLESOME AND IT WAS WORLD WAR II under NAZI OCCUPATION
Greatgrandpa (Grandpa's dad, lets call him F.) was the second child and eldest son of a notable anarchist (I SHIT YOU NOT THE MAN HAD BEEF WITH NAPOLEON III). F. was also dysorthographic and dyslexic, but was nonetheless a true bookworm (and a communist) Greatgranny (Grandpa's mum, Ja.) was the town's elementary teacher. Her former philosophy teacher in senior year was Simone Weil (i shit you not those two were the shit) They fell in love DURING THE OCCUPATION because Ja. was a reckless little shit reading forbidden books from forbidden authors. So a woman after F.'s heart, who was just supposed to bring her wood for the winter. They fought in the Resistance together and they were unseparable until the end.
Italian greatgrandpa (Granny's dad, B.) immigrated before the war, like, when Mussolini ascended to power and Fascism took place in Italy. He was a boy. His family was helped by a teacher, Albert (Granny's mum's dad), to find a place to live, to learn French, and stuff.
So greatgrandma, J., met B. when they were young and roughly same age, and they, too, were lovebirds. B. died quite early (i never knew him whereas I knew and was rather close to F, Ja and J) and he should have been burried in the Italina fashion, but instead chose the French one (and now they are burried together).
My paternal fam? They exist and it's already too much.
