Something I got really into that I think would be a fun smol activity is decorating an ita bag! You can choose whatever you like and make a bag based on that, and that bag could be your regression bag when you go out!

Bit of a change of pace from my usual endeavors! I had this bag with a clear window in it and decided to try and put as many pins on and in it as possible! They're all from small and small-ish businesses or homemade by me or my mom. Most of my collection is on here (besides what was on other clothing items). Got all my keychains on there, too!

They start with a clear backpack and go thru the process from pattern to adding pins.

Similar to picking up a clear tote bag to start with you can have windows all over with this method.

Something else I did for San Japan last weekend. I wanted to try out a new method to making DIY ita bags, and then tested it out as a shopping bag for at the con. Then I used my Felix the Cat merch I've accumulated over the years for it. Standard ita bags just don't have enough room for the stuff I want to put into them, so I've been making my own.

This is a bag I am particularly proud of.

Once a normal backpack, I changed the front pocket into a display window (without the proper needle. Please don’t be like me. I have a proper needle for projects like this now, though.) and added the decorations.

Everything in here will be separate themes at some point with the bag itself being for a Minecraft theme. But since the themes mesh well together, I’m happy with it as is.

This is an expensive hobby. 🥲

first Ita bag💕

I bought a cheap ita bag in black (still waiting for it to arrive), and I want to customize it! I was wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions. This will be my first ita bag. I for sure want to make other straps because it's too small for me. But besides that, I'm kinda lost on what to do. Also, I need to make my own insert(the reviews said it didn't come with one), so if anyone has some recommendations for which materials to use, let me know!

Ita Bag Suppliments

We all understand how to get a bag and the pins and buttons that go into it. But what else is there to make your bag as special as it deserves to be?

Rosettes

Fairly easy to DIY, but can come premade between 5 to upwards of 30 dollars for giant and intricate ones! If you don't have much to fill a bag with, or want it to look more like a shrine than a collage, you can't go wrong with a rosette.

Filler Pins

You have small awkard spaces you can't put another button or charm into. What do you do? Fill it with a very small pin with a matching color or theme! Etsy has a lot, but you could make your own with shrinky dinks perhaps.

Inserts

These are made from felt, but could be any fabric. You can easily remove and place pins without constantly needing your hand deep in your bag. I recommend attaching the top of the insert to a very thick piece of cardboard, especially if you have many Many pins. Keep it upright.

Chains

You know what saves a fuckton of space in a bag? Taking the hardware off your keychains and attaching them with a jumpring straight to a pretty, color coordinated chain. Save the keychain hardware in a bag! Maybe you can make your own with those later.

Extras to consider:

A bag organizer/shaper. My backpack was severely floppy, and had 0 internal pockets. If you want to actually use your bag as a bag, consider something to make it usable lol

A photobook keychain. Print out any photos you want to hang on your bags.

These specific filler pins that you can hang your keychains on directly. This seller is super creative, but you could also DIY it if you got creative.
