hello :D i mentioned a short while ago that i wanted to do pride flag icons/profile pictures as june is approaching and now i'm opening them!

my dear polaris is the model for the example drawing. it will be a simple headshot with some minor rendering + the background being the pride flag of your choosing! if several flags apply to you, i can provide the same drawing with different backgrounds without extra cost.

edit: if you would also like the drawing without a flag background that can be arranged as well!

the horse in question can be an oc, a horse from real life, a fictional horse from a show or a video game ... you name it! all the horses are welcome here :)

something that really frustrates me about Discourse(TM) re: stories in video games is that the vast majority of people who engage in those discussions seem utterly incapable of considering anything besides the literal text of the game and will not acknowledge any meta elements of a game, how it functions as a product, etc.

like i'm seeing people argue about the point of giving majima amnesia in pirate yakuza, and i'm only seeing shit like "it was pointless bc he just ended up remembering anyway", "he wouldn't have gotten as invested in noah if he hadn't lost his memory", etc etc, like. gamers. they gave him amnesia because this game is meant to be an intro to majima for people who picked up the series with y7/y8. y7 in particular did huge numbers and brought in a ton of people who are new to the series. they wanted those people to be able to play the game without being completely lost but also didn't want to try to dump 7 games' worth of majima lore on them to get them up to speed. giving him amnesia and transplanting him to a completely different setting lets them do that, while also letting them slowly reintroduce the parts of majima's backstory that they want new players to know over the course of the game. i'd bet my bottom dollar that his amnesia + hawaii as the setting were among the first things about the game that were decided on for that specific reason, and everything else followed from that. any function/value his amnesia may or may not have had wrt the narrative was entirely secondary.

like im not saying we need to take a super ~academic~ or ~rigorous~ approach to discussing the wacky pirate game, but can we use our brains at least a little bit?

i cannot tell you how much it infuriates me to see headlines about starbucks losing money captioned with “boycotts work!!” like…. okay what change did starbucks make in response to losing that money?? what change did you WANT them to make? what ties to israel do they have and how would it impact israel if they cut those ties?? starbucks losing money is evidence that a boycott is HAPPENING, but not that it is “working” or achieving any particular goal. the point of a boycott isn’t simply to punish a company for being shitty, it is to force their hand to make a CHANGE. and to be absolutely clear, fuck starbucks i am all for not giving them your money. but an organized boycott with a tangible goal and choosing not to support a place are two different things.
