Will and Hannibal give each other flowers regularly. Will picks up wild flowers every time he goes fishing. Hannibal gets the fancy bouquets from the flower shop every time he is out.

Haven't listened to this song in a while. I forgot how real these lyrics were lmaooo (plaintext below the screenshot)
Tumblr media
"It's like we never even happened, baby
What the fuck. is up. with that?
And good for you it's like you never even met me
Remember when you swore to God I was the only
Person who ever got you
Well screw that
And screw you
You will never have to hurt the way you know that I do"

We all make fun of geography on this show, but what about time?
Seriously, I can't believe that season 1 should last like 3-4 months, season 2 lasts 3 months, and season 3A takes place over the course of 8 months.
We know it since, being asked by doctor Sutcliffe (Buffet froid, s01e10), when Will's symptoms began, Will answers, “Two to three months ago” and Hannibal adds, “About the time Will went back into the field, which is when I met him”, so this means that we have a maximum of three months from Apéritif (s01e01) to Buffet froid. Considering that Buffet froid is the tenth episode of the series, we can assume that each three episodes take place over the course of one month, so since each season has thirteen episodes, we can say that this season has a duration of four months.
Episode number four (Oeuf) is Christmas-themed, so it is probably December there. Hannibal's notes on Will, dated February 14 and 21, indicate that this is hypnosis therapy numbers 18 and 19, which indicates that if Will had regular sessions once a week, Will's therapy began on October 18.
Tumblr media
In Kaiseki (s02e01), Hannibal's fight with Jack is shown, after which the screen goes black and “twelve weeks earlier” appears, so from Kaiseki to Mizumono (s02e13) it is only three months.
Given the fact how many killers there are in the first season, in my opinion this season should have lasted at least a year. And considering how the law is supposed to work, season two should seriously last longer than three months. 3A is longer than season 1 and season 2 together (there is a black screen between Will in the hospital and him in Norman Chapel that says “8 months later”). Like… come on.
Personally, I would also like 3A to be longer, something like in a novel, but well… whatever.

as much as i love hannibal, i will always be a will defender
I've seen some discourse among fannibals about who was in the wrong during Mizumono. I've actually seen several takes calling Will heartless and a monster for betraying Hannibal/hurting his feelings.
And I just need to write my thoughts down on this because I've always been a big proponent of
"Hannibal is a hypocrite who can dish it out but can't take it."
What do I mean by that? Let's make it very clear what happens in between them throughout the show.
(Spoilers ahead. Obviously.)
Let's start with Season 1
Will is a lonely person who has never felt truly understood by anyone
Hannibal befriends Will, accepting his darkness and the other unpleasant parts of his personality that drove other people away and made him feel wanted.
Hannibal gets Will to rely on him, to trust him and his opinion above any other person in his life.
Hannibal becomes aware of a serious illness that not only affects Will's ability to perceive reality, but could potentially kill him. He not only fails to inform Will or a medical professional about this, but actively makes it worse.
He frames Will for his own murders and when Will realizes something is going wrong and comes to him about it, urges him to turn himself in.
Will goes to prison and loses his credibility, his reputation. All his friends and colleauges no longer trust him. For many, all the secretly held beliefs they had about him are "confirmed" and all the perceptions about himself he had spent his life avoiding are now the common opinon.
Good? Okay now let's see what happens in Season 2.
Will makes a (failed) attempt to kill Hannibal through a proxy.
Hannibal claims his kills as the Ripper and Will is released from prison.
Will hatches a plot with Jack to make Hannibal believe that Will is on his side so that they can get him arrested.
Will makes Hannibal feel accepted and seen, in a way he had believed no one was capable of.
He plans to betray Hannibal at the final dinner with Jack and arrest him when he begins the plan to kill Jack.
Does that sound familiar? Person A befriends Person B, makes them feel accepted, and then betrays them and gets them thrown in jail. Person B's revenge is to befriend Person A and make them feel accepted only to turn and and betray them to get them thrown in jail.
It's a pretty fair revenge right? The only way it could have been more even was if Will somehow gave Hannibal brain cancer or something. (Though you could argue that the attempted murder makes up for it.)
Except, no, because Will doesn't go through with it.
He changes his mind and decides not to do the betraying part. He makes a very real attempt to accept Hannibal's offer and run away with him. And yet, in Hannibal's eyes, he accepted too late. And we all know what happened in Mizumono. A complete bloodbath.
That's the equivalent of someone punching you, and when you punch them back, they gut you in their fucking kitchen.
I also want to point out something specific in Mizumono.
Hannibal slices through Will's abdomen and says the words "I forgive you. Can you forgive me?"
REMEMBER THAT.
Now what happens in Season 3?
Hannibal leaves for Italy with Bedelia and is living in Florence with her.
It takes 8 months for Will to fully recover, not only from his physical wounds, but from the emotional ones. Hannibal leaving him behind. Grieving Abigail for the second time.
Will mentions, two separate times in this season, how he wanted to run away with Hannibal. When Jack asks why he warned Hannibal he says "Because he was my friend...and because I wanted to run away with him." Later, in Italy, when Jack asks if he will disappear with Hannibal when they find him, Will replies "Part of me will always want to."
Also, people never mention this, but everyone who survived the bloodbath knew Will had betrayed them. After Will took the risk to betray everyone to try and follow Hannibal, Hannibal left him behind with the people he betrayed for him.
Will travels to places where Hannibal has been to try and figure him out. Why that happened. What went so wrong. He visits the chapel in Palermo, the entrance to Hannibal's mind palace. He visits his childhood home and leaves flowers on Mischa's grave and a tableau of the man who killed her. He takes a tour that ends with him in Florence, where Hannibal "became a man", and finds him there.
They have, by all accounts, a pleasant conversation. They leave the Uffizi Gallery together and Will pulls a knife from his pocket. Chiyoh shoots him before we ever see how that plays out. And afterwards, Hannibal has him so drugged he can barely string a sentence together to explain himself. Then Hannibal attempts to murder him. Like saw open his skull and eat his brain.
Now this is purely speculation, but I have always had a pretty clear idea of what Will was attempting here, although he had arguably bad timing.
Earlier in the season, when Will was following Hannibal through the catacombs, he calls out "I forgive you." Which is a call back to when Hannibal forgave him in Mizumono.
Now how did Hannibal forgive him? He stabbed him, sliced him open with a knife, enough to hurt, really hurt, but not enough to kill him. He left him with a scar. A physical reflection of the emotional pain he caused Hannibal.
I will argue until the day I die that Will was attempting to reciprocate that idea here.
Hannibal reacts like Will was attempting to kill him. That getting that close and having that conversation about how intertwined they were was another ruse. I think in part it was an emotional reaction, though Hannibal would deny it. I mean, fool me once shame on you, but fool me twice, shame on me, right?
Of course, Hannibal doesn't get a chance to kill him because they are interrupted by the mercenaries Mason hired kidnapping them and taking them back to the States.
This is another big thing, because Mason wasn't after Will at all, not really. He was simply a bonus to Mason, and since he had them both, he decided to use Will, by cutting off his face and using it like a mask. Will is constantly catching strays for being associated with Hannibal.
They get out of this situation, narrowly, due to Alana's intervention and Hannibal rescues Will and takes them both back to Wolftrap.
When Will wakes up, Hannibal is acting like they're all hunky dory, like he didn't just make an attempt on Will's life.
Will tells him to fuck off. "I’m not gonna miss you. I’m not gonna find you. I’m not going to look for you. I don’t want to know where you are or what you do. I don’t want to think about you anymore."
AND THIS IS SO VALID !!
Will has made so many attempts to meet Hannibal at his level. Every single attempt at reciprocity between them has ended in Hannibal lashing out. Despite all of Hannibal's claims of wanting an equal, he never lets Will commit acts of betrayal and violence on the same level as him. If I was Will, I would also be done with him. It's so exhausting putting so much energy into someone only to constantly get it thrown back in your face like that.
(Also why I believe, in the show canon, their relationship doesn't work until Hannibal gets humbled by three years in prison.)
This is why you may hear me say things like "Hannibal has the emotional intelligence of a toddler" or calling him a hypocrite and stuff like that. Again, I LOVE Hannibal, he's one of my favorite fictional characters, period. But sir, you're so dumb. How can someone so clever be so stupid?

Whumptober Day 4 - Hallucinations
"You're still alive in my head."
Hannigram, Mizumono AU
Content: Hannibal longing, mind palaces, set during the end of Mizumono before Hannibal flees
Word Count: 1.3k
Warnings: Mizumono :(
Tumblr media
a/n: This is my official beginning of Whumptober! I only wrote for specific days/prompts due to a lack of writing time, but I'm trying! Enjoy.
Soft vibrations of laughter fill the air paired with the sweet scent of pine. It was a beautiful image, of a daughter and her fathers relishing in peace together. The air was free of uncertainty and edge for the first time in their relationships. Will was sitting to the right of the head chair, nursing his black coffee. Will silently thanked his lover as he retrieved Will’s dirty plate from the table. They share a small kiss that lands right on Hannibal’s pronounced cheekbone. Everything was perfect. This is what Hannibal has worked towards for the past few months. This was his intended design.
Abigail sat across from Will, listening to the birds tweet and call for their companions. Her fingers danced along the underside of the table, feeling the sharp wooden edges. A stray splinter snags her finger, marking it with blood. Instinctively, Abigail’s finger reaches her mouth where she sucks on the small wound.
“Abigail, are you alright?” Hannibal noticed his daughter’s disarray while moving towards the kitchen, dishes in hand. He saunters over to inspect the wound but Abigail simply tucks her hands into her sleeve.
“I’m okay.” She turned her head at him, big blue doe eyes staring at him in delight. A soft smile adorns her lips, easing the worry. “Don’t worry about me, dad.” Hannibal only nods and heads back to the kitchen. Dad. What a beautifully dependent-sounding word. He was her father in a way. He protected her from a world that wanted to break her down and frame her for her original father’s wrongdoings. The world set all the rules against her, it wasn’t her fault she had to learn how to conform to the game. Her wound was mildly concerning, however. It opened a deep pit in Hannibal’s gut. For all of the gruesome images he’s seen in his days, that seemed to be the most bothersome picture in a while. Their life here was perfect, no one’s fingers should be tainted with blood.
Nevertheless, Hannibal unpractically shrugged off the occurrence and decided to focus on the present. Hannibal, his love, and their adopted daughter were currently residing in a small cabin in the woods. Not out of necessity, but out of a need to be away from the city for a while. Will got to fish, Abigail got to learn, and Hannibal got to be unapologetically himself. For the first time in a long while Hannibal felt secure, away from prying eyes.
As Hannibal’s hands scrubbed away at the dishes he felt a presence behind him. He needn’t turn to know it was Will, casually strolling behind him and locking Hannibal’s waist in his embrace. “Thank you for bringing us here, Hannibal.” Will’s nose nuzzles into the nape of Hannibal’s neck. “It’s beautiful; our life here.” A warmth in Hannibal’s chest grew, and Will’s appreciation went a long way.
“I’m pleased to see you are finding yourself comfortable here, dear Will.” As Hannibal continued to work on the dishes the water from the faucet began to burn and boil. It was strange, a jump in temperature from perfectly warm to scalding. Hannibal turned off the water, assuming the water tank was acting up. He turns around in Will’s embrace to capture his love’s face in his damp hands. “How about you and Abigail go get ready for today’s fishing adventure? I will finish up here shortly.”
Will leaned into Hannibal’s warm hands, not minding the dampness. “You’re sure? I don’t mind helping.” Hannibal only smiles.
“I am sure.” And with a peck on the cheek, Will Graham leaves to go into their shared bedroom. Hannibal resumed the dishes, but ultimately moved to another task since the water seemed to not cool down. If anything, it was becoming increasingly hotter. Hannibal hummed a melody he produced not long ago as he swept away the crumbs leftover from their breakfast. While sweeping he noticed something on the table, a small curved blade. It was sitting alone in front of Will’s chair. Hannibal reached over to feel the wood, smooth and excellently crafted. Someone put much thought into carving this knife. Its blade was smooth and curved, sharp to the touch. Perhaps it was Will’s for fishing, although Hannibal had never seen him use such a knife in his craft.
Deciding he’d return it to Will anyway, to see if it was his, Hannibal grabbed a long black coat and headed out the backdoor towards their lake. Upon arrival Hannibal became increasingly confused, the boat was not on their lake, nor the shore. Where could it have gone? “Will?” Hannibal called out into the forest and lake. Nothing. Becoming increasingly bothered, Hannibal felt something thick and warm coat his hand. Looking down he saw dark crimson blood coating his hand and the curved knife. Could it have been Hannibal’s? No, he doesn’t feel pain anywhere.
This was all so confusing, he felt as if he was now the one with encephalitis. Hannibal calmly sped walk to the kitchen, suddenly feeling the need to have a glass of water, but what he tripped on upon arrival made everything clear.
He didn’t deserve this haven. Of course not. He knows now why this was happening; he killed his love and their adopted daughter that night. They never left, he made sure they couldn’t. The one person in the entirety of the world who was able to peer into his soul and carve a hole into it for himself lay here on the tiled floor, gutted and gone. The meat would surely go bad if Hannibal did not react soon, but Hannibal did not care for this meat. He wanted to consume Will more than anyone, yes, but not in this way. He wanted every bit of Will, his brain riddled with intelligence and sickness, his soul marked with Hannibal’s relentless abuse, and his body was only a mere fraction of Will’s beauty. No meal could ever compare, not even ambrosia in Greek Mythology. Hannibal’s meal was spoiled on the floor, even before his love’s body began to rot.
As Hannibal stood with uncertainty, reality dawned and he realized he must flee. Leave the life he yearned for lying on the ground, waiting to be sewn together again. But Will never would be. For the first time in his life, Hannibal felt ill as a result of his actions. It was wrong. It was never supposed to happen like this, he and Will were supposed to leave with their daughter. Forever waking up to one another and basking in each other's skin before the sun rose. For once in his life Hannibal felt at a true checkmate.
Sirens could be heard in the distance, he didn’t have much time. Emotions must be thrown out to make way for rational thinking. William Graham was dead, here on Hannibal Lecter’s kitchen floor, and there was no heavenly power that could restore what was lost. Leaning down, Hannibal held Will’s limp head in his hands. His body was heavy, just another symptom of death Hannibal would like to ignore. A small kiss was placed upon Will’s nauseatingly cold cheek.
“We will meet again, dear Will. Whether that be in whatever afterlife there is or my memory palace, we will.” Hannibal stayed there, slumped to the floor of his kitchen, waiting to be apprehended. What was the point of running anymore if Will was not there to play cat and mouse? That night Hannibal was poked and prodded by investigators and forensics without struggle. If anything, Hannibal was more eager to have the process be over with than anything. He wanted to be in a cell, somewhere he wouldn’t be bothered. Somewhere that was quiet and calm. Somewhere he could live in his memory palace, forever.
After being thrown a white jumpsuit and told to strip down, Hannibal was finally put into his cell. Closing his eyes, he allowed himself to wade into the quiet of the stream. A warm hand wrapped around his bicep, and a comforting smile blessed his vision.
“Welcome back, Hannibal.”
“Hello, Will.”

Hello. Hope you are okay
I don't know if you answered a similar question already.
But what does Hannibal mean when he says: If I saw you every day forever, Will. I'd remember this time.
I don't understand. Is he talking about a special moment of understanding between them? Why would he remember exactly this moment and not something before or after? What is it about Will in that scene so exeptional??
Hi! In the script, this is how Will's entrance is described:
ON WILL as he lays eyes on Hannibal for the first time since Hannibal gutted him. Both men battered and bruised.
He comes forward and lays a gentle hand on Hannibal's shoulder. Hannibal looks up at Will and smiles -- pleased to see him.
What I think is an expanded, more unhinged version of this: this is the first time Will and Hannibal met after the fateful Mizumono night. After the gutting, after the perceived betrayal, after Abigail's death. It's been months - months full of longing and regret. For Hannibal, these were also the months of attempting to live normally, to find enjoyment of life again, and of failing again and again because he slowly came to realize that he wants and craves Will in a way that nothing and no one can replace.
Most importantly, no lies separate them now.
When they finally lay eyes on one another again, Hannibal is overwhelmed. He emphasizes this meeting in particular because no matter what happened and would happen in the future, this time is special as they are finally seeing each other for who they are, with no masks, no deceptions, for the first time ever. In S1, Will didn't know who Hannibal is; in S2, Hannibal didn't know Will betrayed him, and then he didn't realize Will chose him.
Now, they know everything.
Changes and revelations took place in both of them. Hannibal understood that he can no longer enjoy a life with no Will in it; I think he realized that he'd reacted too strongly to Will's betrayal, that Will did pick him in the end. Will, in turn, made his own re-evaluation of everything and admitted the part he played in it.
It's the first raw honest meeting between them, and it's so beautiful and meaningful that it will never fade from their memory.

oouugghhh hannigram either 7 or 45. maybe even combine the two.
ok so it has been. a while. this one got, uh, more than a little out of control lmao (almost 3500 words holy fuck). but it's finally finished! i'm not sure if it exactly fits the prompts anymore but i tried to combine them both :) i hope you like it! (even if it did just end up as yet another mizumono fic lol oops)
***
"You were supposed to leave," Will hisses, and his voice is a devastated, furious thing.
There is blood soaking into his shoes and the scent of iron hangs heavy in the air, and the worst part is that Will doesn't even know whose blood it is anymore, but the question is lost to the back of his mind. Because in front of him stands a dishevelled man whose shirt is a mess of shiny red stains, a knife dripping in his hand.
A man who isn’t supposed to be there at all.
"I didn't want to leave without seeing you one last time," Hannibal says. The words one last time should be ringing alarm bells in Will's head, but he can’t hear them over the overwhelming chorus of thousands of other alarms, because everything is going wrong. There is blood on the floor and on the walls and Alana and Jack lie dying among shards of glass, and there is a SWAT team likely only minutes away, and yet Hannibal is still here.
They both are.
And now Will doesn’t know what to do, hasn’t known what to do for the last 3 months and hadn’t known what he’d do next when he’d made that phone call, telling the Chesapeake Ripper that they know. All he’d known was that he didn’t want Hannibal to die, didn’t want him locked up in a cage by his own hands. But here he is, faced with the consequences of his own actions, and once again Will doesn’t know what to do, doesn’t know what to feel, or even what he is feeling beyond the adrenaline and desperation and horror and relief and confusion. He doesn’t want to feel the overwhelming guilt and sense of responsibility that has been steadily building behind his ribs since this whole scheme began. Yet that guilt now tears at the lining of his chest and crushes his lungs and holds his throat in a chokehold, and it’s just all too much and all he can think is none of this was supposed to happen and this is all my fault and what if?
Seeing Hannibal alive, he’d been struck by a sudden wave of relief that had almost caused his knees to give out beneath him. But now, as Hannibal’s eyes meet his, the awful look that greets him makes a pit suddenly form in his stomach, and the relief gives way to guilt again. And Will can’t take it.
None of this was supposed to happen.
This is all my fault.
What if?
And then it hits him: none of this was supposed to happen. And it hadn’t needed to. This awful mess of glass and blood and ruin could have all been avoided if Hannibal had just listened. If he’d trusted Will when he’d picked up the phone with shaky fingers and told him to run. But he hadn't. And this realisation comes with a sick sense of understanding, because for the whole time Will had known him, Hannibal had always had to have something hidden up his sleeve, always had to keep secrets from Will. Always had to know better. Feel superior. At last the final veil falls from Will's eyes, and all at once he can see how foolish he'd been to ever believe that they could be equals. How pathetic it was that, for those few long weeks they'd spent together, he'd actually believed that they were.
(Will fiercely forces back the voice in his head that whispers that he hadn’t exactly given Hannibal a reason to trust him.)
Heart hammering against his ribs, all of that guilt and fear melts together and stretches and twists and is reborn as deep, righteous anger.
Because no, all he’d wanted was for Hannibal to be safe and free and far from here, even if it meant Hannibal hated him, even if it meant they could never be together, even if it meant that one day Hannibal would come back and rip his still-beating heart from his chest without remorse. But instead here they are, highly armed police likely mere minutes out. And all because Hannibal hadn’t listened. Bitterly, Will thinks to himself that maybe he couldn’t change Hannibal in this way after all.
As if hearing the war cry of bitterness and anger, the resentment he’d kept locked away over the last year begins to bay and claw at its cage too, and, with no reason left to hold it back, Will finally opens the latch and lets it loose.
His next words come out as a growl. “Well now neither of us might get to leave at all”.
Hannibal looks at him, and before he can hide any emotion behind his mask Will can see surprise and deep betrayal warring behind his eyes. It should make him stop and consider, that surprise - that indication that he is behaving in a way that Hannibal did not quite anticipate. But the look of betrayal is like a knife to his chest, and so Will grips his resentment tightly and fumes.
What had Hannibal expected? For Will to be small, desperate? Cowering? Begging for forgiveness? His lip curls in derision. As if he would give him the satisfaction. No, mongooses have teeth and claws, and may whatever god he believes in help Hannibal if he thinks Will won’t use them.
Hannibal manages to force the emotion all behind a mask of icy indifference, and now when he looks at Will his gaze is blank. Though it is not his usual blankness which Will has become familiar with. It is an empty, unsettling kind of blank, the sort of blank he’s only ever seen in the eye of a shark. When Hannibal speaks his voice is cold, colder than Will has ever heard it.
"Forgive me for having doubts about the sincerity of your warning when you've been lying to me for the last month. Forgive me for wanting to see the truth of where your loyalties lie."
The acknowledgement is agony. All the guilt Will had been trying to force down suddenly rears its monstrous head again, and he finds his voice suddenly drying up. His throat feels tight.
He whispers. "My loyalties lie with you'
Hannibal only scoffs. It is ugly. Will has never seen Hannibal ugly before.
"A last minute change of heart is hardly loyalty, Will," he says. “What does Uncle Jack think of your loyalty, lying bleeding out in my pantry? Alana, shattered on the street? How can I be sure you do not still intend for me to join them?”
Hannibal takes a step towards him, adjusting his grip on the knife. Will’s heart pounds. He forces himself not to take a step back.
“Because I chose you, Hannibal, I was always going to choose you, I just needed time to accept that.”
But Hannibal just looks away. “If that is what you truly believe, then you haven't just been lying to me, you've also been lying to yourself.”
It’s so wrong, yet Hannibal had said it with such certainty and disdain that all Will sees is the arrogance with which Hannibal always assumes himself to be right. He dares to presume to know what Will is thinking better than Will knows himself? It turns out Hannibal Lecter really is just like every other psychiatrist Will has ever met, and a sense of grief rises up within him at the loss of something he’d never thought he could have until meeting Hannibal.
He hates himself for mourning what he shouldn’t want.
Will smothers the voice in his head whispering that Hannibal may in fact be correct, that he really does know Will's mind better than Will does his own. Instead he lets anger take over again, and this time it burns.
“You know nothing,” he hisses. His hands shake. Deep waves of indignant resentment roll over him, the roaring of the waves matching the blood in his ears.
He doesn’t know what he expects Hannibal to do next, but it isn’t for Hannibal to hum to himself, then huff a mirthless laugh and concede in a tone both melancholy and angry, “Perhaps you’re right.”
Once again Hannibal meets his eyes. “You know, I've never fully been able to predict you, Will, but this time I had hoped. It is a mistake I will not make again.”
He prowls closer still, and this time Will steps forward to meet him. Fight has won over flight and as the rising fury makes it hard to find words Will’s body seems to have decided to speak for him. The ticking clock of the impending arrival of the FBI ignored in favour of the burning, all-consuming rage within him.
But the fear of their time running out is still there, forced down as it is, and between that and the anger it’s only getting harder to think, and Hannibal is only making it worse. Every word that leaves his mouth brings fresh waves of intense emotion and it’s rapidly reducing Will to a state where there is nothing in his brain except pure animalistic rage-fear.
He just needs Hannibal to stop talking for one moment so he can think.
With what little coherent thought remains in his brain, Will decides to tell Hannibal in the only way he can manage anymore.
“For once in your life can you please just shut the fuck up”.
Hannibal's eyes flash dangerously. His lips curl up into a snarl, and the part of Will that still understands anything knows that he’s made a mistake - he’s only succeeded in confirming for Hannibal exactly how his words are affecting him, and getting him to stop now won’t be achieved without consequences.
Hannibal is quick to recover, a cruel grin taking over his face. His head tilts condescendingly. “Terribly rude, Will,’ he taunts.
The fire inside Will soars higher. He can feel it scorching his insides.
“Fuck you, Hannibal.” He spits.
Hannibal begins to loom over him, moving closer still in a manner that can only be called predatory, until all that separates them is an arm’s length. The knife still glistens in his hand.
“Is that all you have to say for yourself, Will? Childish comebacks? I’ve come to expect better from you. I'm disappointed.” There is a gleam of self-satisfied malice in his eyes and the shape of his lips. He looks dangerous. He looks beautiful.
Will hates him.
Will loves him.
Fuckyoufuckyoufuck-
And suddenly Will can’t take it any longer.
Before he knows what he is doing, he’s grabbing Hannibal by the bloody shirt and crashing his lips into his.
Time seems to stop, the world narrowing into a millisecond of time in which Hannibal’s hair brushes against Will’s forehead, breath warm against his mouth, their noses pressed almost painfully against each other. A moment where the cooling blood on Hannibal’s shirt soaks into Will’s palms and stains his fingers red. A moment where Hannibal stands deadly still, as if frozen, and Will feels as if he’s been frozen too.
There is a distant pressure in the corner of Will’s abdomen, then the vague sound of something clattering to the ground. But Will’s lips are on Hannibal’s and it is as if everything everywhere is inconsequential other than the feeling of Hannibal’s teeth against his, just as he’d imagined on so many a lonely night.
The moment seems to last an eternity before Hannibal’s hand finally comes up to grasp the back of his shirt tightly, and Will feels the sharp pull of the fabric against his skin, the pressure of Hannibal’s knuckles firm against his flank. A breathy gasp escapes his burning lips, and he can’t help the animal noise that subsequently tears its way from his throat. Luckily it seems that is what it takes for Hannibal to finally move his mouth and kiss back with equal force, teeth scraping sharply against Will’s. They gravitate closer and closer until Will’s arm is wrapped around Hannibal’s neck and their hips are pressed tightly together.
Eventually, Hannibal lets out a deep growl before he at last pulls away, dragging Will backwards until there is an arm’s distance between them. Will’s eyes flutter open and he gazes up at Hannibal. The adrenaline is still coursing through his veins and setting him alight, but this time it is not with anger but something wholly new.
As they lock eyes, Will realises that Hannibal is finally allowing Will to see, without barriers or veils, the full breadth of emotion in his eyes. There is still frustration and betrayal, yes (indeed, Will hadn’t let go of his either) but there is also - and Will’s heart skips a beat when he recognises it - pure and all-encompassing adoration. A wonderful warmth blossoms within his core, rendering him both weak and solid and light as a feather, and it is unlike anything Will can ever remember feeling.
He wonders if this is what it’s like to be loved.
Then those wonderful, expressive maroon eyes flicker downwards, and Hannibal’s brow furrows, lines around his eyes deepening. Confused, Will follows his gaze, and is surprised to see a growing deep red stain on his shirt, though any reaction he distantly thinks he perhaps should be having is dulled and seems to float just out of reach. It’s strange; there isn’t any pain, just the memory of an odd pressure that he’d ignored at the time and a peculiar sense of unreality.
For a moment he just stands, uncomprehending, but as the adrenaline finally starts to wear off he becomes increasingly aware of a dull ache at the site of the wound, and it isn’t long before that dull ache blossoms into a terrible burning pain. Hand instinctively falling from Hannibal’s shoulder to hover protectively over the wound, Will looks back up at Hannibal, a mix of confusion, surprise, pain and betrayal written across his face. An involuntary whine slips from his suddenly dry throat.
The vocalisation appears to spur Hannibal into action. He takes Will gently but firmly by the arms and quickly guides him to a nearby sofa, helping him lay down across its seats before sinking to his knees beside him and pulling up his shirt to inspect the injury. A moment passes, then a near-imperceptible line of tension seems to drop slightly from Hannibal’s shoulders and he pulls Will’s shirt back down.
“It is as I thought: due to the angle and the quick loosening of my grip on the handle, only the tip of my knife entered your body. The wound is not so deep as to require immediate attention, but it will certainly require stitches.”
He guides Will’s hand back to his injury and helps him to apply the right amount of pressure. It hurts, and when Will winces and lets out small pained noise, Hannibal brings a hand to his hair and cards it through the damp curls. It feels nice, it feels so very nice and right, and Will’s eyes slip closed for a moment, enjoying the feeling. When he opens them, Hannibal is looking down at him, face once again carefully blank.
“There is likely very little time left before the FBI arrives,” he begins, “and I will soon be leaving for Florence. I will offer you this once and only once, and you will have until I return with our passports and a select few other items to make your decision.”
He fixes Will with a heavy look. “One last chance, Will. You can come with me to Florence, and I will show you the city where I became a man. We will leave immediately, take up new identities, and likely never return.
“Or, I can leave you here. You can wait for the cops to arrive and take you to a hospital. Your reputation will remain intact, and you can go back to your job and your house in the woods, your life as you know it, and you will never see me again.”
An almost undetectable pause, and then, “This is your final decision, Will. I suggest you make it wisely.”
With this he climbs to his feet and leaves the room
For a while Will sits thinking, but deep down he knows his mind is already made up. The myriad of complicated feelings he harbours towards Hannibal still plague him, and a part of him still wants to lock the man up and throw away the key, but he’s finally willing to admit that it’s all inconsequential. He knows now he can't live without Hannibal, for better or for worse, whether he loves him or hates him, or a twisted mix of both. He’ll miss his life terribly for the isolated comfort it brought, but he’d miss Hannibal far, far more.
There is only one choice to make.
The moment Hannibal reappears in the doorway Will is speaking.
“I want to come with you.”
Hannibal’s face remains carefully blank. “You understand there is no going back from this. I will not change my lifestyle and you can never return to the false life you have led. You will be shedding your sheepskin for good this time, and the world will be on our tail for as long as we-”
Will cuts him off.
“I want to come with you,” he repeats firmly.
A long pause, and then a small but genuine smile graces Hannibal's lips. With a dip of his head, he seems to accept the decision. “Very well,” he says, though Will can hear the unspoken relief that lies beneath it. He lets himself smile back, tired but overjoyed and honest. It feels right.
Hannibal comes back to where he lies on the couch, and helps him get up, his touch firm yet gentle as he holds Will against his side.
“Do you think you can walk?” he asks.
Will’s breath catches as the shift to being upright pulls sharply on his wound. While it could have been far deeper - and Will doesn’t want to imagine what Hannibal’s initial plan for him was - it is still painful, and increasingly so as the last of the adrenaline wears off. Plus, he’s losing a fair amount of blood, and the change in angle temporarily darkens his vision and sends stars dancing across his eyes. Grimacing, he closes his eyes and waits for the pounding in his head to stop. Hannibal lets him lean against him, steadfastly taking his weight, and says nothing.
When the stars fade and he feels steadier on his feet, Will considers Hannibal’s question, and after a moment of assessment nods - he’s been shot in the shoulder before, he can handle this - and lets Hannibal lead him out of the house and down the street to an unfamiliar car.
Alana is unconscious now, and Will catches Hannibal’s eyes lingering on his jacket where it lies over her body. He looks at her, the person he’d once imagined sharing a life with, and thinks of how important she had always been to him, even after everything. A pang of bittersweet nostalgia hits him, accompanied by a longing for a simpler time when maybe it could have been possible. But ultimately he allows Hannibal to help him into the passenger seat of the car. This is the life he’s chosen, the person he’s chosen, cannibalism and all. There is no going back now, and nothing to be gained from contemplating what ifs.
Then the car door closes, and Alana is hidden from sight.
There is another noise as Hannibal gets in the car from the other side, and after fiddling with some dials and buttons, he starts the engine.
“I will drive us to the airport where our flight awaits. When we are a safe distance from the house we will stop and I will clean and suture your wound. But for now I suggest you sleep - you will need the rest if you are to recover well.”
He must notice the lines of discomfort on Will’s face, as he adds, softening slightly, “There are some painkillers in the door.”
After taking the pills as directed, Will lays his head back against the headrest and allows his eyes to close. The last of the adrenaline has left his system, leaving behind a sudden bone tiredness that makes his lids heavy and breathing slow.
With the sound of the vehicle lulling him and the comfort of Hannibal’s presence beside him - alive, together - sleep comes quickly, and the last thing Will knows before the darkness claims him is the feeling of a warm hand gently coming to rest upon his own.

It's honestly brutal how long Will lied to himself and got away with it after Mizumono. We see him wake up in his hospital bed, some amount of time after that night, and he sees a doctor, and then he "sees" Abigail (who we know to actually be a hallucination/coping mechanism). Then after his conversation in the hospital with Abigail, we get a fade to black and a timestamp that says "8 Months Later" followed by Will in Italy with Abigail.
And you're telling me know one noticed he was seeing and communicating with Abigail? Because we know from that scene where Will is walking down the stairs in Primavera and he looks towards where Abigail is standing and then towards where Pazzi is, that she had physical form to him. This was more than just conversations in his head. She was in the room with him and he probably spoke out loud to her.
You're telling me that for EIGHT MONTHS his doctors said nothing? Jack didn't say anything? Alana didn't say anything? Frederick "professional curiosity" Chilton (who we know he was actually talking to when he first woke up) didn't say anything????

Everyone still talking about Mizumono practically daily, ten years later makes me so happy. I watch that scene probably at least 2-4 times a month. Generally more.
Fate and circumstance have returned us to this moment, when the teacup shatters.
The dialogue, the acting, the beauty, the darkness, the blood, the brutality, the poetry, and even the score... makes it an unforgettable moment that stays with me, endlessly.

Oh hai Jack
Reflections
Oh shit son

One one hand, go Hannibal. On the other, FUCK HIM UP JACK
Oh damn, DAYUM, Jack just fucking BODIES him, Jesus

Glass to the neck! Ah, who could have seen it coming?
Jack: *record scratch* yeah that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I got here…
Twelve weeks earlier…
So is this entire season just flashbacks to show how we get from the end of season one to Mizumono? Because okay, that’s a way to do it I suppose.
Moar meat
Oooooh sea urchin too
Hai again Jack
Title drop
“I never feel guilty eating anything.” Lol Hannibal
Talking about Will. Jack feels guilty, AS HE SHOULD.
Hanni says investigate me, bitch
My baby boyyyyyyy ❤️
Him fish
The stag. He’s thinking of Hannibal.
Ah, Chilton! You look a lot better than the last time I saw you, lol.
Also, surviving what you did? Respect.
Speaking of Chilton, what an asshole. He’s only saved in the series because he’s played by Raul Esparza, but movie Chilton? No redeeming qualities. ZERO.
Cynthia Nixon!
She’s an administrator, huh?
Everybody trying to figure out what went wrong with Will. It starts with an H and ends with annibal
New case!
Poor guys, lol
Bedelia!
Hanni just wants to see bae
“I miss him.” *screeching into the void*
“Will is my friend.” *currently emitting a noise only dogs can hear*
Hanni: hey boo
Will: alright time to seduce a cannibal how hard can it be?
Light years from friendship, lol okay sure Will
Oh shit, damn. Will with clarity is hot as fuuuuuuuck. Hannibal doesn’t stand a chance.
Y’know, I like Mads Mikkelsen as much as the next guy, but that’s a liiiiiittle close for me
BEV! God I love her. And don’t worry, I know the terrible irony in my saying that. I’m not going into this series COMPLETELY blind, after all
“It’ll be your evidence that convicts Will.” Boy she sure looks happy about that, lol.
Time to see how the other half lives, eh Hanni?
Water bloated bodies, lovely
I love fountain pens
I think Hannibal is very turned on that Will knows him, in a sense.
I ❤️ Gillian Anderson
Seeing these interactions between Hanni and Bedelia, I can more easily accept them running off to Europe together. Bedennibal doesn’t hold a candle to Hannigram, of course.
THE DOGS ❤️❤️❤️
Winston!!!!1!! He goes home to wait for Will 😭😭😭
That’s right, blame the encephalitis
Chilton you motherfucker
Hypnosis time
Dang Will, this is so not relaxing, lol
Quite a feast
EAR
more food! And vegetarian this time! Hannibal, you’re branching out!
Will won’t talk to Chilton - he’s a smart cookie
Hannibal: he thinks of me so much? Awwww boo…
Packed subway train. Thank god I’ve never been on one. So many people near me would give me a freaking mental breakdown.
“Nice skin.” Asdfjklbfjblk this is exactly what would happen, my mind tells me
That guy’s probably dead
Inside the mind of a killer. Would be creepy if the show wasn’t named after the baddest killer of them all, lol.
Hey Zeller!
Jimmy! I love you too! Always gotta show love to one of the Kids in the Hall
Bev is still thinking 🤔
I freaking love Bev and Will’s friendship, seriously
Getting a consult
Ah, prison food. Not like the stuff hanni made for you, huh?
So… Hannibal forces a long pipe down Will’s throat. At what point exactly does this stop being subtle?
Wait, was it even supposed to be subtle? Lmaooo. (I am aware it was not)
And that’s the story of the ear
Jack, feeling contemplative. Still wondering what went wrong.
I’m still crying over Winston *sobs*
I still like Alana, dang it.
“Hannibal’s not guilty.” Lmaooo Jack you are a leading FBI agent, this isn’t a good look for you, my dude.
Side note: I love Jack, partially because he’s Laurence Fishburne, but even the Scott Glenn one is alright. But he is kind of a dick.
Moar fishing
Dreaming about Jack - Hanni would be so jealous, lol
My blorbo ❤️
Hannibal just stares at Will’s empty chair, lmaooo this pining loser
Is this the exact moment where it hits home for Hannibal that Will being in jail means he can’t see him as much? Lol.
Oh dang, my dude is still alive! What a fucking trooper.
That is quite a display of bodies.
And that’s Kaiseki, finished. Good cliffhanger, lol
(btw the fact that my twelfth note is the twelve weeks earlier caption? A happy accident, I assure you.)

I'm thinking about the timeline of the show and how confusing it is
When I'm writing fic and trying to establish a base timeline to branch off of or find places to fit in "missing scenes", I always have some trouble.
Like we know definitively that Season 2 takes place over 3 months.
We see the flash forward to Mizumono, then this transition card, and then cut to a scene of Hannibal and Jack talking about Will being in the BSHCI.
Tumblr media
And we also know that Season 3 spans nearly 4 years.
Will wakes up in the hospital after Mizumono, we get this transition card, and then see him in Italy.
Tumblr media
All the Season 2a stuff happens, and then we know Hannibal is in prison for 3 years before TWOTL.
But like...what about Season 1?
Season 1 starts in either late-summer or early-fall. In 1x1 Aperitif when we first see the Hobbs house in Minnesota, the trees are still green.
Tumblr media
By 1x3, when Abigail wakes up and they head back to Minnesota, the leaves are turning red and orange and all over the ground. They're also wearing sweaters.
Tumblr media
1x4 Oeuf, the Lost Boys Case takes place over Christmas/New Years. There's not really any snow yet, but everyone is wearing coats and scarves.
Tumblr media
By 1x8 Fromage, it's snowing in the Virginia/Maryland area. It's not covering the ground yet, but it's there.
Tumblr media
By 1x11 Roti, the snow is pretty deep.
Tumblr media
It's still snowing by the end of the season, when Will gets arrested.
Tumblr media
BUT HERE'S THE PROBLEM
It's sunny and the snow is melted while Will is in the BSHCI when we see him in 2x1 Kaiseki.
Tumblr media
And by 2x4 Takiawase, during the Bee Lady Acupuncture case, it's Autumn again.
Tumblr media
When Will get's released in 2x7 Yakimono...it's snowing again.
Tumblr media
And you think, oh that makes sense, why is that a problem?
Season 2 takes place over 12 weeks. It can't be winter AGAIN in only 3 months right??? Obviously, the real explanation for this is like,,, filming schedules and shit right? But it's always confused me.
Like is there a time gap between season 1 and season 2? That's the only way I can think to explain it. I always thought that Season 2 picks up right where Season 1 left off, that Will was only in prison for a couple months at most, but there has to be a gap.
If we're generous and say Season 1 ended around the end of winter, and that when Will get's released, its the very beginning of a second winter...
There has to be over a 6-month gap between the end of Season 1 and the start of season 2. Which means Will is in the BSHCI for at least 6 months before his trial (yay American justice system)
So the timeline I would assume
Season 1
late-September/early-October 2012 -> February/March 2013
(4-6 months)
Season 2
I really don't know...Most generous guess I can give is like
November 2013 -> January 2014?
(3 months)
Season 3
With all the traveling and time skips it's hard to tell but
September/October 2014 - December 2014 for Season 3a
Then after the time skip
Season 2b takes place sometime around 2016/2017.
(3 years 8 months)
BUT LIKE YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN RIGHT?
The timeline is kind of confusing, and I guess is mostly meant to be vague.

i have a really convoluted theory about will graham re: water symbolism
#in the tags because i'm self conscious.#basically i think the ocean represents birth/rebirth/death + rivers represent gradual change/erosion in will's story#AND backstory ..... most of which is speculation. but hear me out#probably born by the ocean -> traveled upriver as a kid -> became a cop in new orleans but got shot + disillusioned (symbolic death)#moved to virginia near his wolf trap river (gradual change up until the beginning of the series)#then the river motif in s1 and s2 (gradual erosion)#then mizumono (ocean of blood) leads directly into will crossing the entire fucking ocean. death/rebirth#at the hands of hannibal#but that rebirth didn't do the trick obviously because he ends up back in wolf trap (to his river!) and eventually in maine (?)#i also find it interesting that we first see molly and walter coming up from fishing in the lake as if will has tasked them with#shouldering his stagnation (because lake -> stagnation)#+ THEN the series ends back at the ocean. which is why i think that the wrath of the lamb is a definitive death AND rebirth for will#regardless of whether he actually survived (...... i think he did)#regardless it would be a true death + rebirth this time because it was his own decision. woohoo autonomy !#....................................#who's to say whether any of this was intentional in canon .... probably not i'm totally reaching but i still think it's#fun to explore AND adds more goodies to my will graham backstory vault#ok. hope this was coherent LOL it's been cooking for months and months

Hey ☺️ I hope u are well !!
I joined the Hannibal fandom a month ago and tbh it's the best decision I have ever made, haha.
Sorry for my English It's not my first language.
Ur metas and analysis are very informative and it is helping me understand the story better . I don't know if U have answered it but
I want to know what is love for Hannibal? Ofc he loves Will but for a person like Hannibal what does love mean and how does he love Will?? Also can you give me some examples of how much he loves Will ? Like how desperately if that's the correct.
Thanks in advance. Love u 💕
Hi! Thank you, and welcome to the fandom!
I think Hannibal undergoes several stages of love in the show. I believe Mads' version that Hannibal fell in love with Will the first time he saw him, only I think it was more like infatuation with the idea of what Will could become. Hannibal saw a potential partner in him, an equal, and he started planning a family with him from the very start - this is evident from how he used Abigail as their surrogate daughter to make Will take note of their closeness and think about his loneliness.
The more Hannibal got to know Will, the more solid and specific his feelings became. In S2, I think he's truly in love with the person Will is, but his love is more possessive, more blinding, more selfish. He's trying to be patient with Will, but his own feelings surface and dominate more and more often. This is why Hannibal chooses to willingly ignore the depth of betrayal he must suspect Will is still feeling, why he believes that Will is closer and more ready than he actually is. This is why, upon learning that Will was working with Jack, Hannibal takes it as the ultimate betrayal. He tries to give Will a chance, but once Will doesn't take it, he turns destructive. Nothing matters to him, not the phone call Will makes in Mizumono, not the fact that Will doesn't point the gun at him, not his words about him expecting Hannibal to have left and his "didn't I?" when Hannibal accuses him of not wanting his gift. Hannibal loves him, but his love is dark and more selfish.
In S3, after realizing he cannot live without Will, Hannibal arrives at the final stage of total submission. He nearly killed Will for wanting to take his freedom in S2; in S3, he willingly gives it up just for the chance that one day, Will might come back to him. It's the biggest gesture he could have ever made, the loudest "I love you" he could have said. This pattern of behavior doesn't change after this: Hannibal is willing to follow Will's plan in TWOTL, having no idea if Will is planning to kill him; he doesn't try to fight when Will takes them over the cliff. Hannibal's love became purer, stronger, more selfless. He's still darkly possessive, he still wants Will to stop fighting himself, but he's willing to sacrifice everything, from his freedom to his life, just for the opportunity to be close, whether in life or death. This is what I call desperate!
