i was kinda slacking with art last night, taking a lil surprise break i guess, but here's some stuff i wrote down about Sparrows for myself to clear my idea of her up a little better

Positive traits: • physical strength. can pick up quite a lot of stuff without much sweat. an Iterator puppet on her back while the umbilical arm is pressing down is a little out of her range of capabilities tho. that red asshole. • capable of wielding weapons such as spears, swords and guns (in the name of protecting the farmlands against the fauna). and then farm tools As weapons. she is a very formidable opponent to big ass bugs with a shovel in the ring • very empathetic → this ends up with her viewing the Iterators more as people than most Ancients in her lifetime. it creates her main character goal/motivation in life: helping them be happy (or at least, Euros and the other two constructed Anemoi. since she's too quiet about it to make an actual lasting impact on the bigger scale) • very nice singing voice, can keep up rhythms. her education on That is rooted in the family getting together and singing folk songs and such. this is where she picked up guitar. violin/fiddle happened in school to help her destress

Negative traits: • helpless introvert. unless she gets to know a person in an easy manner, she will be incredibly awkward around them. professional work meetings with Ales' Houses are always a fucking nightmare. Boreas is a good example of her getting to know someone in an actually pretty easy way! the whole rivalry- throwing middle fingers at overseers and the closing of doors in her face- made her actually comfortable with the guy (much to Boreas' dismay). it reminded her of playfights she grew up with back home. this is why she is able to bark at him even when she's scared of him • extremely low self-worth/self-esteem as result of the class system. her position forced her to think of herself as expendable • she worries a lot about being good to those she loves. while that isn't normally bad, she is willing to offer herself up in ways that is... Uncomfortable and Concerning. she overthinks the stuff. • doesn't have the spark of a fight (unless it's against like. animals). she's more likely to take the bullying and injustice than defend herself. she got bullied a lot in school

Interests/what she likes: • movies, she likes making references to them. much to Euros' dismay • she fuckin LOVES instant noodles. ate a shit ton in the techie school during test months and now she's fucked up about them • really enjoys listening to Euros telling her about what it's like to be an Iterator and the silently evolving Iterator culture • genuinely enjoys tinkering away on things. that's how she ended up with a pair of five fingered Iterator hands on her table. that and Euros' sad look when he realized he can't join her in her enjoyment of musical instruments

Misc.:

• Sparrows is the kind of person to give a soft kiss to her mom's cheek before going anywhere. she helps out in the kitchen and plays with her smallest siblings to give her mom n granda a break. she isn't the oldest kid in the family, probably like... 2nd or 3rd oldest (out of like bopping 10), but she wants to be responsible and make "the time it took to raise her worth it". is gentle and loving with her granda, but isn't afraid to glare at him with hands on her hips when he's being mean out of conservative mindset • she has no idea what to think of her late father. she chooses to love him and look after his grave when she's around just because she was raised with kindness and because mom still looks sadly and longingly at the thing • most of all her farm array district's denizens know each other very closely. they are either dear friends or feel very family-like. so Sparrows isn't socially awkward there at all. this place took "it takes a village to raise a child" to heart • very good with children! she often approaches the distressed ones in the village when the parents can't figure out how to calm them down themselves and talks with them/plays a little/explains things to them. at least One time she hurriedly stopped a kid from taking off "that itchy nasty" rebreather mask by holding their hands, explaining why that is dangerous and when the kid was on the verge of tears, she picked them up and spun around with them until they started feeling better • she doesn't really think of the lower circles' lifestyle as unfair. maybe that is just a coping mechanism- being blind to it while she lives there. having a scarred back because of Raindrops won't scare her as much if she just accepts it as the norm • her shortness bothers her • dying scares her even though she knows she will wake up the next day. even after she dies for the first time (in Zephyr's insides), she's still terrified of it and never really grows numb to it. still, her lacking self-worth means she's very self-sacrificial • she doesn't hold it back when she needs to cry. even when she tries to though she kind of sucks at it • got her name when her mom stepped outside while holding the freshly born her during a misty morning. three sparrows (whatevs would the RW variants look like) sat on a wire, chirping away, painted in shy light of the few sunbeams that made it thru the fog. Sparrows herself added the second half of her name later when she picked up the guitar, but prefers it when she's only called Three Sparrows or Sparrows. she loves the name given to her by mom a lot • she fumbles with stuff a lot and might come off as clumsy. this almost entirely disappears when she goes off to work on Iterator related stuff. oh the power of hyperfixation. she becomes a problem solving Beast. Sparrows in sysadmin mode is incredible • unlike Euros, she doesn't actually mind techno and other modern music stuff at all! actually listens to it often while working away at him • once she found a good song with rhythm that matched Euros' thunderous heartbeats and one day when she went to check over his heart, she played it with the intention to have the heartbeats as an outside bassboost. she jammed out quite a Bit. as a Phone Operator, Euros picked it up and got all pissy about it. he frowned at her with crossed arms for the rest of the damn day • dear heavens above she SUCKS at the whole religion thing so badly. she isn't even sinful on purpose a large amount of time, she just don't click with it • i think like every sin is mentioned in here being committed by her Except the second one. so the burning question: has she fucked with the funny calculator? yes. yes she has. they are both very smart and figured stuff out. this is as much as anyone's gettin about the second sin committing for them, from me, on Tumblr Dot Com

Femininomenon: I am not 100% sure but i think that femininomenon, got a new mix (the music video is deleted/unlisted now, plus a few weeks back i listened to the music video and the track on apple music side by side and the one on apple music was pretty clearly different), it has more oomph now, but it still retains the charm of the original. as always I love this song!

Red Wine Supernova: I love this song to death, its so fun the backing vocals are muah muah muah "put her canine teeth in the side of my neck!!" the final "i don't care that you're a stoner" is just muah, beautiful delivery, loves it!

After Midnight: YES SOFT POP!!!!! aughhhhh the delivery on all the lyrics is beautifull, chappell said "chaos bisexual anthem" and i LOVE it!!!! when the tracklist was released i was a slight bit miffed that so many of the tracks were previously released, but hearing the quality of what was kept for the album i am less pressed.

Conclusion, this Album is amazing, and i really hope Chappell receives the accolades that she rightfully deserves for this piece of pure pop perfection, it is amazing, and I know exactly why Dan Nigro started an entire imprint for Chappell, seriously, this is an amazing project, and it slots so nicely into Dan's catalogue of amazingly produced albums. I won't be able to make it to chappels naked in north america tour stops near me, so I am now waiting patiently to see if i get off the waitlist for guts tour tickets so I can see her open for Liv (I really hope her and Chappell sing lacy together for the dates where chappell is opening)

when i wrote the pinned post for this blog i settled on "a common throughline in Shit What I Like is understanding how and why systems work" bc i hadn't yet listened to Well There's Your Problem, a podcast with slides about engineering disasters and systemic failures, and "OSHA aficionado" is shorter but less snappy than "WTYPP fan". anyway when i think "chemical spill" i do not generally think "hand sanitizer spill", and when i think "how do i get rid of all this unsellable poorly made hand sanitizer made in the early days of the pandemic" i do not immediately leap to "well i'll just dump pallets in this parking lot and warehouse and surely it won't spill and/or explode bc hand sanitizer is a product that makes you safer".

this is a tremendous work, as a documentary/history/archival effort/piece of art. it made me tear up. there's a very lovely sequence about memory and legacy that got me thinking a lot again about how i would like to be remembered. ive rewritten this section four times, when usually i don't redraft the tuesdaypost much at all. boils down to: complex and weird topic to talk about as an orphan, i am reluctant to be any more emotionally vulnerable than i absolutely have to during this time of great cross-country change and moving upheaval.

i appreciated how this was not tearjerker webby bait, which would have made it feel very hollow and embittered me even more during a week i am already predisposed to hate humanity. instead, mr perjurer is simply very good at his job (being an ethical documentarian)

one game i really loved and one game i really hated, so it goes.

despite religiously downloading the epic store free game of the week bc i have a reminder written in my planner, i never fucking remember to actually look at what i have in that library.

ABZÛ genuinely healed my heart during a very unpleasant weekend.

i don't use this as a recs platform except for this one time when i am cashing in all my chips. go play ABZÛ, it takes like an hour and a half.

all you need to know about it you can get from the cover art. it is not a hard game and it is not a horror game. i went in totally blind and the less you know about this game the better. i was delighted nearly every minute. every time i saw an ammonite i felt like i was seeing an old friend. there are SO many clever game design choices i want to talk about. message me after you play this. i said "of COURSE IT WAS AUSTIN FUCKING WINTORY ON THE SCORE" during the credits. what an absolutely goddamn perfect little jewel of a game.

AGAIN: go play ABZÛ.

i also played Call of the Sea, bc it was in my epic library and i wanted something fast and oceanic to continue the high of ABZÛ.

Call of the Sea did not continue the high of ABZÛ. i think this team carefully and thoughtfully sidestepped several of the usual issues is making something Lovecraftian but fell into the rest of the pits. eg i liked that they had Polynesian culture consultants, but from an interview it seemed like it was limited to a one-day crash course? i am deeply grateful this isn't a dead-wife game and the female protagonist has a great deal of agency, but she's still a rich white lady from boston trekking about the Tahitian islands commenting on primitive structures, which made me suck air in through my teeth at many points. there is an "ancient slave culture" thread that never actually resolves. i really wish it resolved. the game overall is in a very weird place, trapped between the norms and mores of the early 40s and the 2020s. you have Got to commit to one or the other.

the overall vibe is very polished for a first game. general vibes are Firewatch but puzzle-adventure. the lighting is a little too dynamic and was very distracting throughout. due to this studio's age (new) and odd location (spain) and how their debut game came out (took a year and a half to make, debuted on gamepass) i understand why this game exists the way it does from a marketing and industry standpoint and why they favored visual polish and art style over everything else. it's still annoying bc it is so close to an interesting game.

hello so flowers in november. let’s discuss. because I read it for the first time like a month ago and it? changed me? I had to sit down with my lil queer self and have a tête à tête about how good that fic was. I PROCESSED, computer style. like your capacity for worldbuilding is so gorgeous and well rounded and complete and that in and of itself would have me hooked but then the nuance. the soft, horny cowboy of it all. the ROMANCE and the CREATURES and the ROUND! PIZZA!! BOXES!!!

reading that fic is like watching a rube goldberg machine with all these tiny, whimsical parts coming together in gentle little plinks and plonks to accomplish this incredibly simple task SO EFFECTIVELY and you’re just grinning and loving the whole fucking journey of it. like I feel BAD for you that you don’t get the sheer pleasure that was getting to read that work for the first time and being taken around each blind corner into this thrilling reveal that just builds Rhett and his world and his relationship and I could literally gush about it for another 2000 words and still not say all the good things I want to say!!!!!!!!

I was listening to a song in my work car today (I love you always forever, Betty who’s version. fuckin bop.) and listen I KNOW it was set in winter but every part of that song gives FiN Rhett and his person, just the adoration and the soaring feelings and the simple core of the message behind it and I got so up in my feels in the middle of the fucking city about it. because that’s what FiN has, for such a fun fantasy alternate reality bop— every narrative beat connecte to this indescribable core feeling of adoration and whimsy and magic and the good and bad that lives in all of those things, in such whole and finished way that it makes me feel A Thing. and then I hear or see or smell something that has a moment of the same Thing and among all the other wonderful things that have that whimsy and magic that immediately pop to my brain I’m like “oh man flowers in november tho”.

2 - Amar Pelos Dois by Salvador Sobral (Portugal, 2017)

God this song is truly beautiful, it's one of the few Eurovision songs that have brought me to tears just through it's pure beauty and simplicity. Also Salvador is both a meme and an absolute sweetheart, protect him at all costs.

3 - Waterloo by ABBA (Sweden, 1974)

I think I would be shot if I didn't mention ABBA lmaooo. I deadass sometimes forget they won Eurovision, and I know for a fact most people don't know they even entered. It's still a bop after all this time.

Hey, so here’s my lil’ mini review of Seulgi’s mini-album 28 Reasons after listening to the whole thing twice:

28 Reasons: Loooooove this one. Like the haunting sexiness of it, the whistles (<333) and background harmonies during the chorus~ Issa bop, your honor! Like she's singing bruh especially during that last chorus. (And yes 'I kiss your brother' def threw me off when I first heard it 'cause it's like what? Lol)

Dead Man Runnin': Didn't expect this lowkey classical intro at first but when the synthesizer and other beats came in, I was like ooh. Omg Seulgi's voice in this bruh especially during that chorus, like her voice is so beautiful bruh!! Like I love how she sings Dead man runnin', tho since this is my honest review, only thing I think I could do without is the whiny Ooh-hoo part towards the end of the choruses. Still, I love this one too!

Bad Boy, Sad Girl: I did not expect a song like this right after Dead Man Runnin' at all lol. Love the harmonies in this tho. But omg, the feature from BE'O scared the hell outta me lmao like it's partly my fault 'cause I glanced at the album listing and didn't notice 'til I heard his voice that there'd be a feature. But bruh why'd they bring him into the song like that? XD Anyways, overall the song's nice; like I love the the harmonies singing Ahh down the scale, and the cute lowkey Christmas vibe I get from this but this song doesn't match the other 2 songs I just heard at all. Like I didn't expect to go from haunting & sexy to bright and cheery like that lol. (Like why didn't whoever put the songs in order make it so that we the listener could ease in into this different mood?) Still, I do like the song especially after the 2nd listen where I realized that I was singing along to the chorus hehe.

Anywhere But Home: Like the faded-out beat a lot and groovy doo-wopness to the song~ Lowkey feels like a Dua Lipa song since she has a song (Break My Heart) that has the same throwback vibe. Anyways, this was a cute song though a tad bit forgettable compared to the first two imo.

Los Angeles: Song started off okay, then that chorus came but it felt just like it was put in to be put in. Basically, I don't really care for this song tbh. But at least it fit the album vibe more than Bad Boy, Sad Girl bruh lol.

Crown: Her voice--it's so angelic bruh. Love the voices singing with her in that chorus too--they add a nice, dark texture to this. And this should've been after Dead Man Runnin' to keep with that dark theme bruh!

TL;DR: So, I actually like/love 5 outta 6 of the songs on this mini album, and it was hard deciding the order of faves for 3 of 'em! Anyways, I already knew that Seulgi's voice is pretty from listening to Red Velvet but hearing her singing solo like this? I really am so happy that I got to hear her beautiful angelic tone singing her heart out on some of these songs. She's so fuckin' talented bruh and I hope to see her do more experimental songs in the future, like I feel like she could do it all tbh! So yeah, all in all, I'd def rec listening to this album!
