ㅤ⎯⎯ ㅤㅤ 𓇻; FELIPE GONZAGA , THE WIZARD'S APPRENTICE. ( based on the 2009 movie , with different lore )
⚜ felipe gonzaga is a common young man by the first glance. extremely quiet, reserved, he is seen as arrogant by most of his oxford peers and a mystery by the rest. having one friend or two, he is known for standing in the corner and making questions for the teachers and mostly avoiding everyone way. a major in bioscience, felipe holds a secret few could comprehend ; one day, merlin chose him to be his successor as a wizard. it happened as he finished his routine. called his younger sister back in uruguay and prepared himself to sleep. then, a knock on his door - a package delivered. inside, a dragon ring that stirred when felipe touched it, twisting it on his finger and awakening the sensation of dread, power, full energy that stirred and twisted until he got unconcious. when he awakened, a note laid next to him:
Tumblr media
⚜ felipe then discovered his roots, visions clouding his eyes as truth revealed itself. his birth mother, who he'd never met, was devoted to natural magic in extremes, a descendant of one of the first apprentices of the ancient wizard. the trace of such was in his blood - enough for merlin ( or his spirit, éter... - don't ask felipe how, he wouldn't know how to explain anyway! ) to choose him as his successor. well, felipe was eighteen at the time and certainly not interested in becoming a freak, always opting to stay in quietness. but accidents kept happening. he sneezed, and a bus turned into an elephant. he waved his hand and the dragon moved just enough to nuzzle against his palm. and still, no mentor came - he, in despair, studies most magic on his own. not grasping it fully since then, only enough to live his life. becoming an apprentice with no master.
⚜ he is extremely gifted but possesses raw energy and power, uncontrolled. a danger to himself and others. reasons why he is so secluded and isolated - in fear of hurting those who wouldn't understand his existence. though the dragon ring helps him keep it mostly under control, he knows his emotions lead him astray. felipe is extremely smart and tries to unite magic with biology and science, seeing it as a gene mutation rather than something supernatural. he denies the existence of an other world, fearing he might encounter his old family : when felipe was ten years old his father, biological, died misteriously during sleep and felipe was sent to an orfanato. there, he was addopted by a lonely professor, señor francisco, who took him to love. this professor later adopted a little girl when felipe was already older, maria. who felipe adores and loves beyond words.
⚜ it is maria who gets him often into trouble. the only human who knows about his magic. at six years old, she likes to have him perform little tricks. those tricks often get out of control. felipe never regrets it, loving to make her smile. she lives still in uruguay, but felipe meets her frequently through portals he dangerously opens. TW : cancer / maria currently has leukemia and that's why felipe does anything she asks. he just wants her to enjoy every second she has, since it is unlikely she will recover.
⚜ felipe has a stray dog named darwin. he jokes the dog is his mentor and only friend. indeed, it is his best friend - and the sweetest animal.
⚜ felipe has a deep, soothing voice. he often lets spanish slip. his english is perfect, but he prefers his mother's tongue. he has to learn latin for his spells but hasn't been able to excell in it. he is extremely kind - he will help you without you asking, and will say nice things because he believes in them wholeheartedly to you, and then he will disappear but leave a mark because his eyes were soft while he said them. he isn't shy. he actually smiles a lot around his family and few friend. but he is so distant in public he feels like a shadow, an owl. he wants to make everyone around him safe. even those he doesn't know. unfortunately, he smokes a lot as well as drinks, being (tw) chronic depressed.

part one part two part three part four part five part six part seven
September 2nd
My fingertips pressed against the ivory keys of the school's beat-up piano. Robin had asked me to consider joining band, and realistically I never play the piano at home anymore, at least not for myself. But I'm not totally sold on the idea.
It runs the first half of lunch, and it would be nice to get back out there and play with a group of people, not just to the mannequin the art department left in here after they were finished sketching the human figure. The thing is so creepy, I tried putting a hat on it just to make it look less, well, creepy, but all it did was make it look like a sleep paralysis demon with style.
After band, Robin caught up with me in the halls. She started rambling on about something Steve had said during their shift at Family Video. I was only listening to snippets of the conversation, trying desperately to get to the library before she dragged me to the cafeteria. But before I knew it, she'd linked my arms and started walking to the disgusting pit that people choose to eat lunch in. Willingly.
You'd think that I would at least have a chance at overpowering Robin given how tall and slight looking she is, but the truth is Robin spent her entire summer slinging ice cream, and she's got seriously strong arms because of it. An unfair advantage if you ask me, giving piano lessons to kids hardly builds up your strength.
"You're not holing up in your nerd castle just so you can avoid facing him." Robin laughed, practically dragging me down the halls, each step taking me closer and closer to food poisoning.
"I have no idea who you-" I started
"Shut up Y/n, did you forget that I sit beside you in bio already? I've seen how you look at him, I'm surprised he hasn't found out yet, you are one serious stealth master when it comes to hiding how you feel about someone,"
"I don't feel that way about anyone. It's a stupid concept reinforced by stupid people. I just get shy around him that's all,"
Just as I said that Vickie caught up with us and complimented Robin on her trumpet performance at band. Robin immediately went red and kept stumbling over her words, but in the end, she managed a "Thanks, you too," before Vickie walked away.
I keep forgetting how nervous Robin gets around people, especially girls. I guess it's another thing we have in common.
Walking into the cafeteria, I pulled my green and black flannel around myself, partially hiding the Metallica shirt I wore underneath. It used to be my Dad's, but I doubt he's going to come back to scold me about wearing his clothes. Even so, I didn't want Dustin to see it, he'd have a million questions and every second one would be "Are you okay?"
After grabbing what I can only assume is an attempt at lasagna, I spot my brother and wave before going to sit two tables down. He tries to beckon me over to sit with him, or to at least sit at the empty table between us, but he's with his Hellfire group, and I just wanted to be by myself. With Robin.
I taught Dustin how to play D&D when I was 10 and he was 7. Mom and Dad couldn't stop fighting, and he was almost always drunk. I didn't want Dustin to hear him, so I'd take him down to the basement or the back garden and try and distract him. He then brought his friends around and I taught them how to play D&D too, eventually resigning and letting Will Byers become their Dungeon Master. But with him having moved to California with Johnathan and Eleven, I guess they needed someone else to take over for Will.
I just wish it wasn't Eddie.
"Y/n, you're staring at your lunch like it's going to kill you." Robin laughed, sitting down across from me.
"I swear I saw the pasta move on its own," I say, poking at it with my fork. "See? It just blinked at me." I looked at the lunch lady, scratching at the mole on her face, and suddenly I wasn't hungry anymore. That was when I felt the weight of the cafeteria benches shift.
Looking across, I saw my brother's massive grin as he sat down beside me. He was digging into his lasagna and I suddenly wanted to be sick, even going so far as to fake gag. I picked up his lunch tray and put it in the trash in an attempt to prevent anything that may end with him in the nurse's office.
"Hey! I was enjoying that!" He grumbled, folding his arms and sulking in his seat.
"Yeah well I'll make you a grilled cheese later, one that won't leave you with your head in the toilet bowl," I said. He started to mimic me, which resulted in me mimicking him back, and we went on like that until Robin slammed her hands on the table, forcing us both to look at her.
"Oh my god, you two are the most childish people I've ever met, yet somehow you're still the most adorable people I've ever met. If I didn't already know you're brother and sister I would definitely guess that you're somehow related" Robin laughed, exchanging knowing looks with Mike.
"See? Even the thought of being related to you is sending my friends crazy." I nudged him in the side.
"Friend, singular. I don't see multiple people sitting here." He nudged me back.
"Speaking of, why are you sitting here, isn't your club table there," I said, nodding my head in the direction of the table Dustin normally sat at.
"Well you wouldn't sit with us, so we wanted to sit with you," I glanced over and saw that the rest of the hellfire club had started to pick up their lunch trays.
"Well, that's very sweet Dustbin, but Robin and I have something we need to work on for Bio class," I said, kicking Robin under the table. Harder than I meant to.
"What? Ow- I mean yeah, tons of homework, Mr Wright will be pissed if we don't finish it by Monday." Robin said, saving me from humiliation as we both stood up and began to walk away.
"What about coming by Hellfire tonight?" Dustin called out again,
"I'll pick you up at 6:30, but I've got homework and lessons Dustin so I'll be pretty busy." Suddenly mid-sentence my eyes locked with Eddies, and he held my stare for a moment, or a lifetime, I couldn't tell, and deep down a feeling stirred within me. I pushed it down and away as I turned and walked as fast as I could before I had the chance to make a fool of myself, Robin following along behind me.
"Damn," She said, "You've got it bad for that boy huh?" She teased me as we walked down the halls,
"I don't 'Have it bad' for anyone. I've already told you this. I'm just shy around people in general."
"Yes, but you're especially shy around our dear Mr Munson," She said, over-dramatically fluttering her eyelashes and cupping her hands beside her face.
"I'm not continuing this Robin, I'll wind up with a headache that will last for days," I said, stopping to sit on a bench in the hall "Anyways we've discussed this before, I'm more nervous around him because I made a fool of myself in front of him in middle school."
"Fine, I get it. But we have a problem with our excuse. Dustin's going to say it to Eddie, and Eddies in our bio class, he's going to know we have nothing due." Robin said, sitting beside me and placing her head on my shoulder. We both let out a really loud sigh
"Oh god," I said, wanting to hide in the furthest corner of the world where no one will ever find me.
Classes seemed to drag on until the bell rang. I thought about making my way home to start on my English homework. But as I was passing by the music room, I caught sight of the piano, and it was like my heart lulled me to it.
I waited till the halls were fairly empty, getting a few homework assignments done before I sat at the bench and played random notes that had been bouncing around my head all day. Humming the tune as I played, I tried pairing it with lyrics I had written down sometime last week,
"I have this paralyzing fear that I'll maybe go nowhere," I started quietly, afraid in case lingering students still in the halls might hear me.
"But God forbid me ever admitting I could be scared." I continued humming the tune until I got to the next section of lyrics I had written.
"You said it looks like I've been going through hell,  How did you know, how could you tell?"
I didn't have anything else to go along with that just yet, but it was getting there, and I liked the way it sounded.
As I was getting up to leave, I could hear some rustling outside the door followed by the sound of someone running. I just grabbed my bag and left, if I was late to another teaching lesson, Mrs O'Dwyer would find someone else to teach her bratty child how to play the piano. The girl doesn't even attempt to learn, but her mother pays well and doesn't skimp out even though I'm not qualified to teach.
Getting into the car, I saw there was only one car left in the parking lot. He sat in it and looked straight ahead like he was thinking a million things at once.
I suddenly felt awful. Everyone calls him "The Freak," and here I was, acting as if I agreed with them. There were days when I so desperately wanted to speak to him, to say that I liked his tattoos, but the minute I see him I clam up, and no words are uttered until I'm alone in my car that afternoon. Then I go and say everything I wish I said to him during the day.
I checked my watch. It was 3:30 now, Dustin would need me to pick him up in 3 hours.
As I pulled out of the parking lot, I did what I do best, and pushed everything down until I couldn't feel anything anymore.
I got home and by the time I finished teaching the little brat and done a few assignments, it was time to pick up Dustin. It was dark out, and it looked like it might rain. I grabbed an umbrella just in case and made my way to the school.
It held some type of fascinating eeriness to it at night. The kind that made the hair on your arms stand up straight and sent a chill down your spine.
Dustin, Lucas and Mike came bouncing out of the school doors, laughing at each other before hopping in the car.
"How was Hellfire?" I asked as we pulled out of the parking lot. The steering had become stiff, which is never a good sign.
"It was so cool Y/n, Eddie is just the best!" Mike announced from the back seat, earning a round of agreements from the rest of the boys.
I was halfway home when my baby made a sputtering noise that didn't sound good. I was only a mile from home, and thankfully we made it to the end of the street before she gave out completely.
"Guys get out, Dustin go to the house and call the Sinclair's and the Wheeler's. Tell them my car is broken down but Lucas and Mike are more than welcome to stay with us till tomorrow. They left clothes from the last time they stayed and mom washed them so they should be OK" I told them as they clambered out of the car and made their way up the road,
"Guess I'm taking you to the shop tomorrow," I said, rubbing the wheel of my car.
"That should be fun."

EDDIES POV
*earlier that day*
I sat in Ms O'Donnell's, twiddling the pen between my fingers, trying my best to pay attention, but all I could think about for the past 37 days was my D&D Campaign, playing the guitar, and the redhead that I knocked over outside the library on the first day back.
I'd seen her around, and I almost always saw her coming out of the library during lunch. The day that we bumped into each other and she dropped everything, she forgot to pick up a pen, and I don't know why, but I held onto it.
Y'know, in case she ever needed it back.
But every time I'd get close to her, She'd rush away. I almost caught her at her locker once, I was going to tap her on the shoulder and give it back, but I froze about 5 steps away from her. I remember my heart was beating louder than Gareth on the drums and my palms were weirdly sweaty. The next thing I know the bell is ringing and I've turned and walked away in the opposite direction.
At first, I thought she was like everyone else, who only saw me as Eddie "The Freak" Munson, but then her brother joined Hellfire, and I slowly but surely wormed the answers I needed out of him when no one was around. And boy, when I got one answer, I pretty much got them all at once.
Dustin did not know when to shut up. Kid was a goddamn blabbermouth. He wasn't a bad dude. Less annoying than I thought he would be, but not by much. Still, I liked him. He brought a decent sense of humor to the party.
-Last Week-
"Oh, Y/n? Yeah, she's just shy around everyone. I'm surprised she's friends with Robin, maybe it's because she sits beside her and is pretty much forced to talk to her. All she ever does is hang out in the library or give music lessons to little kids." Dustin rambled on. "And every other evening she's working in the new diner."
Guess I was going to have to start making more trips to the diner then.
"Oh yeah? What kind of instrument does she play?" I asked after Hellfire one night when no one else was around, not sure what I was expecting to hear.
"Piano mostly," He told me as we packed up the last few bits from the game. "She used to play the guitar a lot." He said quietly, packing the last of his things into his bag.
I had about 10 more questions just off that sentence alone. Why did she stop? Who taught her? Was she any good still? I was about to ask when Dustin called out a goodbye before exiting the room, leaving me with what felt like a million unanswered questions.
-Present Day-
The class bell rang, signalling the start of lunch, and I was making my way to the cafeteria when I suddenly found myself making my way to the library. I stood there for about 10 minutes, not fully knowing why this was happening, but 100% knowing what I hoped would happen. That she would turn the hall and walk down here, smiling and saying hi as she saw me, before walking into the library and doing whatever it is she does in there.
I looked at the ground and thought of where she fell that day. I thought about how her glasses flew from their resting place on the crown of her head, and how I felt when I handed them back to her.
In that moment, all the colours in the world suddenly felt so dull and drab compared to the pool of blues and greens in her eyes.
Suddenly, they were the only thing I wanted to see for the rest of my life. I wanted to study each individual eyelash and watch as her eyes crinkled at the sides when she smiled.
After 10 minutes, she hadn't arrived, and I couldn't see her inside already. Feeling defeated, I turned and walked to the cafeteria, meeting up with the rest of the guys at "the freaks" table. Gareth, Jeff, Paul and George sat there with Mike and Dustin, the group trying to convince George not to leave the group. Personally, I couldn't care less if the sleazeball stayed or left. When I sat down and started shoving pretzels in my mouth we began talking about the important stuff, the new campaign.
After a while, I saw Dustin waving his arms around like a crazy person, which I've come to realize isn't totally out of the ordinary for him, but this time he let out a defeated sigh, which made me think he was trying to get someone's attention.
This was my chance. I smirked at Dustin from across the table.
"10 bucks you can't get her to sit with us," Giving him a sly smile. Surely she wouldn't say no to sitting with her brother right?
"Hell, I bet 20 bucks he won't even be able to talk to her." George laughed, not realizing the relation. "She's in my English class, and let's just say I'd like to see those lips do more than recite Shakespeare."
I kicked him under the table and shot him a death stare, "Do you have to be so fucking gross all the damn time?" Why was I so angry right now?
"What man? She's a hot senior who apparently listens to good music, of course I'm gonna want a piece of that," He said smugly,
I threw a handful of pretzels at his head, wishing they were something a lot heavier.
"Watch your goddamn mouth George." I hissed through gritted teeth.
"Deal," Dustin said loudly, breaking the tension as he gave me a knowing look, and yet he looked curious at the same time, "On the getting her to sit with us thing. Once Mike and I are over there, we'll give the signal and you come join us. Piece of cake."
I could hear her conversation about how disgusting the lunch looked, and to be fair she wasn't wrong. When she said the food was blinking at her I nearly laughed but suppressed it as Dustin had just sat at her table.
He started digging into his lunch and she looked like he was going to be sick, even feigning gagging.
"Eddie, he is so blowing this." George said smugly as she got up from the table "I can smell my 20 bucks already."
Dustin gave the signal, but I didn't want to go just yet. I motioned for the boys to hang on for a bit before heading over, and just as I suspected, she came back and sat with Dustin,
"Hey! I was enjoying that!" He sat back in his chair and folded his arms
"I guess you're down 20 bucks George, Dustin over there is chatting up a storm." Jeff laughed.
"Yeah well I'll make him a grilled cheese later, one that won't leave you with your head in the toilet bowl," She said back.
"Did she just invite him over? Is that even legal?" Gareth questioned in all seriousness. I just watched her as she poked fun at Dustin. She was terrible at impressions, but clearly, it runs in the family. I didn't realize I was staring until Robin Buckley slammed her hands on the table, pulling me from my daze.
"Oh my god, you two are the most childish people I've ever met, yet somehow you're still the most adorable people I've ever met. If I didn't already know you're brother and sister I would definitely guess that you're somehow related," Robin laughed at them. I wanted to laugh too, but I was trying to keep a straight face.
"Wait, they're related? No fair! I'm revoking my bet, it doesn't count if they already know each other." George was such a sore loser, both in and out of D&D campaigns. Things will be so much easier when he quits, and thank god he's not in the band so I don't have to see him outside of school.
"A deals a deal gentlemen, and we said we'd go join him. Grab your lunches and let's go." I said to them, but just as we picked up our trays, I heard her say,
"Well that's very sweet Dustbin, but Robin and I have something that we need to work on for bio class." She hurriedly rose from the table as Robin muttered something about homework for Mr Wright.
We didn't have biology homework.
Wait did we?
No, we didn't, I remember class this morning. He was talking about cells and other boring shit, but I remember not getting homework because Harrington would not shut up about having more time over the weekend.
As she got up to leave she told Dustin she'd get him from Hellfire tonight after her lessons. Does she give lessons? I remember Dustin saying she gave them to little kids, but I thought that was just a summer job-type thing.
Our stares met for a moment, her eyes were like the colour of a golden hazelnut and I felt a weird tightness in my chest. As she turned away I saw her Metallica shirt and raised an eyebrow.
"So, big sis is a heavy metal fan huh? Doesn't seem the type." I asked Dustin as lunch ended.
"Oh, the shirt? It was my Dad's. He used to love heavy metal music. He used to put it on and dance around the room with her. Or at least attempt to dance," he spoke both quietly and nonchalantly, "When he left, she stopped listening to it, but she still keeps his old vinyl collection in her wardrobe and she wears that shirt when she's stressed or upset," He let out a sigh as I walked alongside him in silence "She thinks I don't know that, but I do."
I couldn't think of anything else to say. I felt like I was starting to know her, to relate to her, without ever actually speaking to her. I couldn't bring myself to say her name, it felt weird to call her by it when she hadn't even officially spoken to me.
I gave Dustin a pat on the shoulder and a small smile, before turning and walking to class.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I spent most of my time in my last few classes doodling notes for tonight's campaign. When the bell finally rang, I jumped out of my seat and was almost out the door when Mr Finch called me back into the history classroom.
"Eddie, I know you don't care now, but I hope you understand that you need to work a bit harder in class and pay attention. You may not care now, but if you want to graduate you need at least a C in this class. It's very important."
I nodded in agreement and he let me leave the class. How is anything I learn here going to benefit me in the future? I grabbed a few books from my locker but when I was passing the music room I could hear someone playing the piano.
I looked through the window in the door to see if it was her. She sat playing a few keys once in a while and then jotting something down. Did she write music?
"I have this paralyzing fear that I'll maybe go nowhere," She sang quietly
Well, that answers that question.
I listened to her finish her piece, sitting on the floor outside just in case she might see me. When I heard the music stop, I peeked my head up to look at her, and she was just about to get up to leave.
"Shit," I whisper-yelled to myself, grabbing my bag and sprinting down the hall before anyone could see me, almost falling a few times in the process.
I reached my car and sat there trying to catch my breath. There was a reason I didn't try out for the track team. I thought about her singing, her voice, her laugh, and the tightness in my chest came back.
I reached behind me into the back of my van to pull out my box of cigarettes and a lighter from my duffel bag with my spare clothes in it for work at Wayne's Mechanic shop later. I was only going to check stock, but that place is covered in oil, and I didn't want to ruin my clothes.
I sat around for a few minutes and smoked, not thinking of much, before heading in to start up the club.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hellfire can not be run in just 3 hours," Mike groaned at the end of the session, "Every time we get somewhere good, we have to finish up for the week."
"Normally I'd agree with you Wheeler, but next week is going to blow your minds!" I laughed whilst twiddling my thumbs, attempting to appear manic and succeeding.
Everyone filed out of the classroom turned dungeon and into the car park, and there she was, just like she said she'd be. Dustin, Lucas and Mike walked over to her, her eyes lighting up slightly as she saw them. I wanted to go over and talk to her about anything and everything. To let her know that she has a fantastic smile that I wish she would direct at me, just once. But before I could move my feet, they drove off in her little yellow car.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later that evening, I was about to close up shop when the phone rang. Probably someone in need of help during the rainstorm.
"Hey-lo, Munson Motor Shop, Eddie here," I answered
"Fuck." the woman on the other end of the line whispered, followed by a dead silence.
"Um, hello?" I was getting impatient now, it was 9 and I wanted to close up shop.
"My car broke down, there was smoke coming out of the hood but it seemed to have stopped, I don't know if that's because of the rain or what, but I was wondering if you could send a tow car out tomorrow to bring it back and have a look?" She rambled off.
"We can send one now if you need immediate assistance, the rains really coming down out there."
"Thanks, thankfully I broke down near my home, so I'll be okay for tonight."
"As long as you're sure,"
"I'm sure," She breathed down the phone.
"Okay well, if you just want to give me a number and address I'll come by tomorrow and pick it up," I said, taking down her details as she called them out to me.
"I'll also just need your name." I held the pen to the paper, ready to start writing again,
"It's Y/n Henderson," She replied, I could almost hear her shiver down the phone.
As if on instinct, I removed the person's name from the very first slot and put hers in. Mr Carver could find someone else to wash his sons car.
"No problem Y/n, I'll be out to you first thing tomorrow,"
We both said our goodbyes as we hung up the phone.
Tomorrow should be fun.

MY THOUGHTS ON AHSOKA - Part 1 "Master and Apprentice" & Part 2 "Toil and Trouble"
(ok let's do this again, bc I posted the previous post before I was finished by mistake, and the power went out right at that moment which means I had no Wi-Fi to fix it 😣😣)
The first thing I can say is that I liked this premiere a lot, but it didn't blow my mind to smithereens. It was a pretty decent start and I can see the potential, I'm invested. But I'd rather remain cautious for the moment. I don't want to hype myself too much, fearing a big disappointment down the road.
There were surprises (very good surprises), some confirmations of things I suspected or have seen others speculating about, and a thing or 2 that I'm iffy about. and also I liked the pace. It's not too slow, nor too fast. It seems deliberated, and I think that's a good thing.
Let's dive into the details…
Part 1 - Master and apprentice
Watching a New Republic transport losing yet again a prisoner, makes me think the NR needs to work on this problem. Because so far, there've been 4 different prisoner breakouts that we know of (2 of those were the same guy!!)
Ahsoka in the ancient temple looking for the map was cool. I love the video game treasure hunt/solve the puzzle kind of feel about it (it made think about Jedi fallen order/survivor). And Huyang roasting Ahsoka for not having a padawan with her was the best.
I loved the subtle hint that Ahsoka made about Morgan Esbelth hiring mercenaries in the past (AKA: Din. I wonder if he could have a small cameo)
My first reaction to Hera believing that Ezra is dead was shock, especially since in the Rebels finale seemed that she knew he was just lost not dead, but after thinking about it, it does make sense. First, because she never had the confirmation that he was actually alive. There's no trace of him or Thrawn in the galaxy (we learned why later), and second, and maybe more importantly, it's much easier to continue living on with a loved one's death than a disappearance. The not-knowing, the constant yearning can be exhausting. With death come pain, but eventually with healthy grieving you should accept it and move on.
Omg! I can't believe Ryder Azadi and Jai Kell were there!! And the mural’s dedication to Ezra 😭😭😭😭 I love that everyone still have him so present even after all this time 💕💕
Sabine is commander, huh? Nice! But the fact that she wasn't in the ceremony doesn't surprise me at all.
Her Loth cat is the most adorable thing ever. I want one!!!
That Morgan Elsbeth being a Nightsister wasn't the biggest surprise for me, bc I had seen people speculating about. In fact, I like the idea of another surviving Nightsister. My only nickpicking about this is that her skin is too pink for a Witch of Dathomir. I guess she's either half-human/half-zabrak, or she's using some cloaking spell on herself.
Ezra's message just for Sabine 😭😭😭
(I have to make a pause here to confess something. When I watched Rebels for the first time, I was happy that Ezra and Sabine didn't end up being a thing. That doesn't mean I didn't see the signs that they could be more than friends/siblings, because there were signs, but I feel that media loves to put first love as if it should be the love of the characters' life always, when in real life it's much less common. It happens, but usually you don't marry your first love. And I thought it was ok to leave the romantic plot out of it. I mean, they were kids fighting a war, they had enough on their plate.
But now, as adults who have grown and gotten vastly different experiences in life and all that? I won't be mad if, when they find Ezra, they declare romantic love for each other. And regarding the message when Ezra says he sees her as a sister, I have the strong feeling that he said that because that was what he thought she wanted to hear. He accepted he was in the "friend zone" and respected that, not knowing Sabine was pinning for him, you know, like idiots in love.
It could be just as he said, they love each other platonically as siblings, and I'm ok with that too. But my heart goes out to all the Sabezra shippers. I know your pain, and as Kalluzeb shipper we might share the same boat soon. I'm fearing that they'll put even harder the "Only friends" sticker on Kallus and Zeb. But just like you, I'll ignore it. So, ship away, my dears. Who's going to stop you? Not me!)
Ahsoka should've known that Sabine would take the map! That was a very Sabine (and a very padawan) thing to do. She should know. How many times she disobeyed Anakin?
And Sabine should've known something like that would happen. When something goes as planned?
The fight between Shin and Sabine was great, but it was painful how rusty Sabine has become. Come on, girl!! and OUCH!!! I didn't expect she was going to be impaled. And thank goodness episode 2 was next because I would've hated that cliffhanger.
Part 2 - Toil and Trouble
Ahsoka's reaction about Sabine losing the map, altho understandable, got on my nerves. Really Ahsoka? have you never done something wrong? I know, I know!! her reaction stems off her trauma and all that, but idk, I didn't like it.
On the other hand, Mom daughter moment with Hera and Sabine was so precious 😭 That really took me back to Rebels. I always love when Hera is the best mom in the galaxy, showing Sabine unconditional support. Despite the physical aspect of the character that it's taking me a bit to get used to it, I think Mary Elizabeth Winstead is doing a pretty good job embodying Hera personality.
For one glorious second, I thought we were going to see live-action Kallus, I swear. I mean, who could've been better to accompany them to Corellia to found out if there were Imperial spies, hmm? I didn't even need him to be in the whole thing, just 5 seconds of screen time, giving them intel on the shipyard or something. Is that too much to ask?!!
OH!! So Ezra and Thrawn are in another galaxy! That explains why nobody found a trace of them. So I guess Peridea is a thing now. And what if Mortis is in that galaxy --or in another-- and Anakin , Obi-Wan and Ahsoka traveled in one of those paths back in TCW? Ok, this is getting interesting.
Thrawn calling Morgan?! Sounds unlikely. But if it's not thrawn, then who? Oh! OH! 😳 I just remembered, The Grysk can manipulate other people's minds!!! I thought we weren't going to touch on the Grysk on this show, like ever, but what if?!!! (i'm sure I'm wrong, but if I'm right? OH MYYY GOOOOSSSHH!!! This show could be soooo so good)
Chopper!!! There he is!!! My beloved war criminal!! I missed him so much!
Yes, yes!! that's general Syndulla I know. Taking shit from nobody!
Thank you, Huyang for easing my mind! Thank the force that Sabine is NOT force sensitive. Like this, I can get behind of the whole idea of Ahsoka being her Master. It's not my favorite thing, but I can tolerate it like this.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Chopper in the chase in the phantom was absolutely great!!
😭 Sabine cutting her hair just like Kanan did. Stop it with feels, dammit!!
Ok now we have caught up with the epilogue, and I'm excited for what's to come.

The First Lesson: Ok’Zundu
Tumblr media
Dear Journal,
I have a master!
There is a highly skilled mage here who has styled herself the Wizard Prince, and certainly she has the bearing for it. I've watched her at work a few times and thought, 'Moss and Mold, I'd love to be as good as her.' In a fit of unexpected forwardness, I up and asked her if she would take me on as an apprentice, and she said yes!
Two days ago she woke me up. “Are you ready to make some magic?”
When she was able to get me to calm down she explained her first exercise for me. I am to go out into the world and study three beasts of my choosing. I must pay in particular attention to how they use their aether. Any beast? I asked. Any beast, she said. I thought of returning to Gyr Abania where I've been spending much of my time. But another thought occurred to me.
So despite my stomach's protests, I took the Aetheryte to Ishgard. Since the end of the Dragonsong War, airship tickets have been easier to acquire, thankfully. There's naught else I'd love more than to stay and try and study how a theocracy becomes a democracy, but the Wind calls to me.
Tumblr media
A drawing of Camp Cloudtop
The ship I boarded was the Lady Estielle, a newer design from the Skysteel Manufactory. By late evening we arrived at our destination, Camp Cloudtop. This is a growing Ishgardian colony on one of the countless landmasses buoyed in this region by titanic wind aspected crystals. I'd spent the last of my money on the ticket, so with nothing to pay for an Inn, I slept out under the stars.
So high in the clouds, they're sharper than cut gems.
Tumblr media
An alien landscape
Oh what can be said of the churning Sea of Clouds? Aetherologists think the pocket of concentrated wind and water aspected aether is what keeps the islands in proximity to each other. Or I could discuss the way common wildlife has evolved here separated so much from their cousins on the surface. I'd certainly bring up the surges of astral aether that stain the air green and make everything taste like the moment before a lightning strike. And the wind, Stars above, the wind is constant. Always in your ears, always murmuring like a distant crowd.
Each could be their own paper, but I wanted to keep this as a brief account of my first day. Around lunch time I stopped to rest in a shady patch created by one of the larger islands floating above. After eating, I thought I'd nap, but each time I was almost asleep I heard the thwock of a hammer on something.
Tumblr media
Finally I decided to investigate.
The beast tribe of these islands is the Vanu Vanu people. It was a bird-like man but so unlike the Ixal I know of. Powerfully built and covered all over in feathers, with the face of a hawk. And here he was smacking a tree trunk with a large club.
To my surprise, he knew of us, and even spoke the common tongue. He explained he was trying to get a morsel from the tree. Normally they rode beasts and used them to shake the tree, but his had bucked him and run free. I offered my assistance.
“Stand back,” I warned.
I drew my aether, focusing it tightly in my scythe before releasing it. A lob of the scythe and it arced over the Vanu and exploded at the base of the tree. A moment later, the tree fell shattered at the base of the trunk.
In a hollow further up the tree was a nest. This was what he'd been looking for. I asked what was for dinner, and he laughed. “Since you help me, I am happy to invite you to partake back at my home.” Wrenching his hand free of the knothole, he presented me with the fat, wriggling form of a wall-eyed chigoe larva.
Despite the lurch in my stomach, I agreed. It would be nice to sleep somewhere free of monsters. He took me back to his village, a placed called Ok'Zundu. He explained that there are other tribes of Vanu Vanu, but I was lucky to meet a Zundu because they were friends of Cloudtop. They've been working with and trading with the Ishgardians. I admit, I felt a little relief at that.
Tumblr media
A rough painting of Ok’Zundu
Until the invention of airships, these islands were completely cut off from the surface world. The Vanu only learned of us within the last decade, and we of them. There are tensions with the Vundu tribe, but outright fighting has stopped for now, with the death of their Primal god, Bismarck.
Ok'Zundu is a beautiful town nestled between the knees of two great rocks. They even have their own Aetheryte, damn the things. Theirs is lovely, though. Its unusual shape and the flags they've adorned it with remind me of a circus tent.
I've finished my chigoe. Turns out it's pretty good! They roast the little bugs and then you have to crack the shell to eat. I'm writing tonight, exhausted but satisfied. Tomorrow I begin my study...

Beautiful Mischief [Pt. 3]
Bad Batch x Reader • Angst/Fluff/NSFW (yknow the whole deal) • Mechanic [hidden Jedi] ! Reader • Female reader
Tumblr media
Fall on your knees, sweet girl
Sweet girl...
——
“SHES A FUCKING JEDI”
“And how the fuck would you know that?”
“HER PETITE FUCKING ASS CANT TAKE DOWN A TREE IN A SINGLE PUNCH”
“You think she used the force?”
“She did! Don’t believe me?! Wait till the next incident”
Y/N frowns outside the cockpit hearing Cross talk about what he saw with Hunter and Tech. She straightens up when Echo came into the common area seeing the angered look on her face. He didn’t say a word. They stood in the silence and Y/N felt overwhelmed all of a sudden causing her to leave the room, before he could reach—-
“Don’t touch her Echo. We don’t know what she’s capable of” Tech states witnessing what just happened as Echo gave him a worried look.
——
“You’re taking on a Padawan? You know what Anakin turned out to be. You think you’ll produce a normal one?”
“They are Anakin’s age now. Not a child. I believe I can train them to be the best”
“A little late to find a force sensitive being”
“I didn’t find her, she found me”
“I trust you Obi Wan. But—“
Don’t be surprised by the hardships
——
Wrecker finds himself in the storage compartment looking for extra ration bars in their food supply when he saw Y/N sitting on the ground propped up against her crate staring at the ceiling.
“Hey?” He tilts his head confused seeing the redness in her eyes and swollen cheeks. “Hey Y/N...what’s wrong?” He decided to sit with her waiting for her to respond and if she didn’t, he would’ve stayed as a comfort.
“I’m a monster Wrecker”
“What? I don’t think so”
“Crosshair does, he’s telling everybody what he saw in the forest. Just another monster in this galaxy full of darkness”
“Okay now that’s a lot of talk. I’m going to need context”
“He didn’t tell you? None of your brothers did?”
“Honestly I ignore what most of them say” Wrecker laughs as he handed her a ration bar seeing her take the offer.
“I worked on your ship for a year before you decided to add me on this journey with you all. Then it’s been six months and as much as you’re all close with one another...I don’t think I’ll ever been looked at normally ever again”
“Y/N...from the time with the scar thing. Scars are scars. It was stupid of us to push you to tell us what happened. As for this recent thing. Speaking for myself, I don’t care what you are. You’re Y/N. A badass mechanic that knows a lot more than we expected. And if shit changes. Who gives a fuck? Imma still like you for you. Besides. Half of my face is a scar and I don’t give a fuck” Wrecker smiles hearing her laugh a little, feeling better.
——
“Two lightsabers? Ha! This will work nicely for you young apprentice”
Y/N stares with grey covered eyes standing still like a solider as the dathomirian receives the kyber crystals for the hilts before handing the new and improved sabers to his mindless slave.
“You’ll receive a new look. Keep you hidden away from the so called Jedi you used to call your family. Little do they know your parents died and adoptive sister left. Or you left her. I’ve always wondered why you did so”
“I wanted to become a Jedi, Odious...” Y/N says groggily before freeing when he started to force choke her. “I’m sorry sir...”
“Mmm. Are you truly, sweet girl?” He smirks pushing her against the wall and keeping her there like a wall ornament. “We don’t want you to remember to good old days...we need information and you will kill for it if it deems necessary” Odious laughs squeezing his hold hearing her choke. “You will kill if they won’t expose their secrets. We will take down the Jedi council”
Soon Y/N dropped on her side feeling the cold ground turn into a cold surrounding. Feeling like death was crawling in but she quickly stood to their feet seeing Odious’s accomplices approach her to start the appearance change.
No one said it was pain-free
——
Returning to Coruscant, Y/N thought she was being dropped off but Hunter assured her it was for Echo to receive some simplicity with his brothers in blue.
Even the clones need to go back to their home.
“You coming?”
“No”
“But come on. The mess hall will have more of those ration bars you like” Wrecker adds as Y/N stayed glued to her seat feeling a weight grow in her chest when she sensed him. “Y/N?”
“I can’t Wrecker...I know we’ll be here for three days but I’m safe here”
“Well you know where we’ll be” He smiles being the last stepping off the ramp as it closed behind him.
But it didn’t take until nightfall for Y/N to step out and take a look at something that over came their thoughts.
——
“You’ll be staying”
“No Obi-Wan”
“Y/N you’ve come so far. Why give up training now?”
“Your master was a grey-Jedi because he didn’t believe in the rules the council had held accountable on us all. I can’t live in a cult that doesn’t want me to seek out for more in my life”
“But you can—“
“I’m not becoming a whore of the Jedi council all because I can fuck every man that steps into the facility. I want to fall in love. I want to be free. Free from my personal burdens. Reunite with my sister. Go home. I won’t be corrupted Obi Wan. You can keep your tabs on me if you like. But I cannot be here”
“Y/N. Please”
“Take a look behind you Obi Wan, and what do you see?”
Obi Wan turns around to look at the city of Coruscant erupt in colors and volumes of plenty. He was about to say something but when he turned around.
She was gone
——
And now she’s returned
Y/N stepped into the quarters she stayed in during her time there. The nostalgia started to hit when the familiar feeling returned.
“Leave”
“Y/N—“
“Leave me alone” She frowns clenching her fists. “You shouldn’t have come out of whatever corner you were in”
“Y/N it took courage for you to come back inside this place. Please just let me spe—“
Obi Wan suddenly hit the wall outside of her room as she stepped out quickly leaving.
“General I heard—“ Cody stopped talking seeing Y/N and his General on the floor, triggering him to take out his weapon. “You stay right there”
“Don’t hurt him Y/N”
“I’m not a monster like you Kenobi” Y/N frowns lifting her hands and before Cody could even do anything, she booked it in the other direction.
“What the—“ Cody started chasing after her as Obi Wan quickly gets on his feet following in suit after the two.
Having no obstacle in the way made it easy, until Cody called in reinforcements from Rex and a few more from the 501st.
“This—“
“It’s Y/N. Why would Cody—“
“Cody explain?!”
“Cody stand down for maker’s sake” Obi Wan states. “You can’t just—“
“They—“
“NO” He snaps as the distress in his voice made Cody finally stop thinks but the actions still confused his brothers. “Now leave. All of you. Except Y/N”
As the sun sets on today
We’ll never know about tomorrow
——
“General Kenobi. New information has come up”
“What about this time Cody?”
“About fugitive x. You said to dig up anything on them and we got something”
Obi Wan turns to Cody seeing the information on the datapad and taking it, leaving to process this all.
Fugitive X
Name: Y/F/N Y/L/N
Found in the streets of the black market wielding duel lightsabers. Nothing life threatening. But they were found with a kyber crystal that was floating around in the market.
“This...isn’t giving me anything...” Cody frowns flipping through the pictures and finding the video from one of the street cameras of them taking out a knife and suddenly—-
Fuck
——
“Why didn’t you come back once you escaped?”
“Why would I?”
“What do you mean...”
“Just because you had spies in my life to keep tabs on me. Doesn’t mean they saw everything. You......” Y/N stops talking as she brings her knees to her chest staring out in the scenery as Obi Wan sheds his robe to be comfortable around her just enough. “You...you lost your master. Imagine that pain, but with your humanity, sanity...”
“Y/N, what happened?”
“A lot...”
A lot that nobody knows
Until now

chandrilan tea solves everything (right? right?!)
qui-gon jinn x gn!reader
based on the struggles we see Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon have in Master and Apprentice by Claudia Gray (no spoilers tho)
“Are you alright?” was the first thing out of your mouth when Qui-Gon walked into your apartment. It didn’t take a Jedi to sense something was off.
“No, not really,” he replied, though his tone was calm. It was the most infuriating thing about Qui-Gon, and all Jedi to be perfectly honest, they could get mad and their voice would still hold stable, calm.
Qui-Gon shed his voluminous cloak on the hook by your door, the remaining robes billowing about him as he beelines for your sofa (which is more comfortable than anything in the Temple, apparently).
You bring the two mugs of Chandrilan tea with you to the couch, you’d begun preparing it when Qui-Gon commed you saying that they’d just finished their meeting with the council. “Where’s Obi-Wan?” you start, knowing this will lead to the cause of his mood. It always does.
“Meditating over the mission,” Qui-Gon sighs. “Thank you,” he murmured, taking the steaming mug from your hand. “There is a reason the Force called me to him, I know that. But… It can be so frustrating. Not just him, myself, too.”
Your brows drew together, trying to figure out what to say. “I’m sure he feels the same way…”
Qui-Gon nods. “He does. And it makes me feel like a bad master. The boy is talented, he’ll make a good Jedi, but he’s just… stiff. He’s very stiff. Or maybe I am too...loose.”
You just nod, giving him an encouraging hum. You’re in no place to speak on what a Jedi apprenticeship should be, you only know what Qui-Gon has told you about the padawan process, and even then, his was unique. It’s not exactly common for your master to leave the Order after training you.
“I have spoken to Master Yoda,” he continues, “and he tells me to meditate. That’s all I fucking do.”
“Have you talked to Obi-Wan?” you try. Qui-Gon just looks at you. “You talk a lot for a Jedi and you haven’t thought of just sitting the boy down and talking to him?”
“Well, I have,” he said. “But it’s deeper than that. We’re too different.”
Qui-Gon sits the half-drunk mug of tea on the coffee table, neglecting the coaster as he so often does, settling back into your arms. The fabric of his Jedi robes is rough against your skin, but you know he has nothing else to change into. “Well, the Force made him your Padawan, right? Isn’t the Force never wrong?”
“Our interpretation of it can be, quite often, really,” he replied. “But I see what you mean. You and Master Yoda both.”
“Maybe Master Yoda should give me a job then,” you joke, but Qui-Gon doesn’t laugh. “It’s worse this time?” you realize.
“Sometimes I think Obi-Wan should have another master. One that can teach him properly. The way he deserves,” Qui-Gon murmurs, holding one of your hands tightly between his own. “A more disciplined Jedi, since that’s what Obi-Wan is determined to be.”
You know what he means, that he’s referring to your relationship, his biggest slip in discipline though it’s among many. You know he loves you, but the guilt that came with him being a Jedi is immense, and you have to accept it. Doesn’t mean it’s nice.
Qui-Gon must pick up on that, because he shifts in your arms to look at you. “Darling,” he starts. “I just… I want Obi-Wan to be the best Jedi he can be. He’ll be an asset to the Order if trained properly, but I cannot get through to him. I meditate and meditate and meditate and nothing changes,” the man reclining between your legs is almost in tears.
“It will work out,” you say softly, not even sure if that’s the right thing to say. “You are a great Jedi, Qui-Gon. And Obi-Wan is fifteen, teenagers are hard to work with. I know Jedi are different, but they can’t be that different.”
“I was never this difficult for Master Dooku,” he replied, pressing a kiss to the back of your hand.
“We never think we were difficult,” you laugh, retracting your hand to comb your fingers through the man’s long hair. “Just talk to him, Qui-Gon. If meditating isn’t working for you then I doubt it’s working for him.”
Qui-Gon just hums. He’s a stubborn man, for a Jedi, and you know he came over to be comforted, not lectured. He gets enough of that at the Temple, it seems. “When do you have to go back?” you murmur.
“A few hours,” he replied. “I want Obi-Wan to have time with his friends. He needs it.” You can’t help but smile. For all the troubles Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have had since Qui-Gon took him as a padawan, Qui-Gon cares so deeply for the boy. “Like I need to have time with you,” he says.
“You sap,” you laugh, fingers still massaging at his scalp. You feel him relaxing, his body getting heavier on top of you as the both of you shift your attention to the holodrama projected on your wall.
“It’s true,” he whispers, barely audible. “It’s scary. How much I need you.”
“I know the feeling.”

Spring Flowers
Tumblr media
Walking among the cherry trees in the springtime...
Characters: Young Prince Thorin
Word count: 500
I wrote about Thorin’s time as an apprentice to the master swordsmith for the TRSB last year. Read it on AO3 here
*****************************************
Trees covered with tiny pink blossoms surrounded them, the air sprinkled with their fragrance. Thorin gave the orchard an appraising glance, definitely looked like trees. His mind was on the work awaiting them back at the shop.
“I thought those hinges for Tharbad were due next week, and repairs have been piling up.” His eyes followed a group of village girls walking past, like beautiful dolls in their new dresses, long black ponytails brushing their hips, just begging to be braided. He smiled widely and was rewarded with pretty blushes and soft giggles.
“The work will still be there tomorrow,” Daigoro was saying, completely unconcerned. “This day will only come once. You must learn to live in the present, my friend.”
When the swordsmith had declared his intention to close his shop for the day to visit the orchards, Thorin had wanted to object, but knew there was no point. Daigoro’s people had a ritual for everything, even making tea. After eight months of living in the village, he was still learning its ways. It was a fine spring day, warm sun, new grass, just a hint of breeze in the air. It seemed the whole town was taking the day off, wandering through the trees and picnicking in family groups. Daigoro, as a man of some importance among them, was acknowledged with polite bows as he passed.
“It is a nice day,” Thorin grumbled. “But I don’t see why we can’t also get some work done.”
Daigoro laughed, shaking his head. “You still do not understand. This day, this moment, will never come again.” He smiled at his scowling apprentice. “You live in the past; your mind is always in the future. Like a monkey, jumping from one thing to another.”
Thorin frowned. “What’s a monkey?”
“You don’t have those here?” Daigoro’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “An animal quite common in my country. They look like tiny, furry men with long tails.”
Tiny, furry men. Thorin tried to picture it and failed. He took a deep breath, glanced up at the flower-covered branches. Living in the present was a common theme for Daigoro, he was always asking “Where is your mind?” There was definitely something to it; his skills had much improved in his time with the smith. A gust of wind stirred the trees, the air suddenly full of falling flowers. Thorin picked one up, admiring its delicacy. The leaves were white, the illusion of pink came from the stems in the center. He found himself a bit sad the trees had worked so hard on these blossoms, and they were already falling away.
“Ah, now you see!” Daigoro clapped his hands. “The beauty and inevitability. Impermanence is the nature of life, my friend. Be mindful of every moment. Let us walk this way.”
Thorin let the flower fall through his fingers, thinking about how much his life had changed. Erebor, Smaug, Ered Luin, Azanulbizar, now he was an apprentice again.
It was indeed a beautiful day.

Lavender and Peace Lily for the flower dialogue prompts please!
Hey!! sorry this took so long I was having Major writer's block this week
Here's some sick Ahsoka for the flower dialogue prompt Peace Lily. Thanks so much for the ask!!
“We’re not expecting any further complications, but it is crucial she abstain from any strenuous activities.” Vokara Che gave Anakin the rundown of Ahsoka’s recovery instructions in her usual no-nonsense demeanor. “If her condition does not improve by tomorrow morning, let me know.” The Master Healer shook her head as she busied herself removing IV’s and waking Ahsoka up. “We don’t know as much about this virus as I would like.”
Ahsoka groaned at the gentle hand on her shoulder, eyelids flickering open. Her normally bright blue—nearly luminescent—eyes were dull and cloudy. It made something clench in Anakin’s chest.
The near-disaster on Naboo was only a few short rotations behind them. While Rex, Padme, and the other clones who were exposed were recovering quickly, Ahsoka was still decidedly ill. Her wracking cough and ever present chills had sent Anakin running to the healers the moment they touched down in the Temple. They’d assured him that her body was recovering, if slowly, but he hadn’t missed the relief in Master Che’s body language when the blue pallor finally faded from his padawan’s skin.
Ahsoka let out another little groan and pulled her blanket around her shoulders. “Mmm. Five more minutes, Skyguy.”
Master Che snorted at that, then with a nod in his direction she left him to deal with getting his exhausted apprentice back to their rooms.
“C’mon, kiddo.” He pulled on her arm, trying to rouse her from the hospital cot. Ahsoka slumped against him, doing absolutely nothing to help Anakin support her weight.
“Alright,” he grumbled, adjusting her arms around his neck while trying not to drop the medicine the healers had given him. “We’re doing this the hard way then.”
Anakin hoisted Ahsoka up onto his back where she instantly tucked her face into his neck. By the time they made it out of the medical wing, she was already snoring softly.
If any of the other passing Jedi found it strange for Anakin to be carrying his sixteen year old apprentice through the Temple, they didn’t say anything. Though Master Windu did shoot him an incredibly amused look that said he and Obi-Wan would likely be having a good laugh about how Anakin had this coming.
They finally reached their shared quarters, and Anakin deposited Ahsoka gently onto the couch in the common area. He tucked a pillow under her montrals and rested a hand on her shoulder, shaking gently to get her attention.
She stirred, and Anakin waited while she took entirely too long to focus on his face. Especially for a girl whose attention to detail had been honed in a warzone.
“Mas’r?” she mumbled, sitting up with a hand pressed to her forehead.
“Hey, Snips,” he said, keeping his voice low. He pulled a blanket around her shoulders and she shot him a grateful look. “How are you feeling?”
She yawned, giving him his answer. He crouched to the ground in front of her and took her hands in his. Too small, he thought briefly, and then he was pulling her into a seated position and stifling a laugh at the pout that covered her face.
“Skyguy,” she groaned, already trying to lay back down.
He rubbed his hand across the valley between her montrals, earning himself a smack at his hand. “You can go back to sleep soon, but we need to get some food in you first.”
“Not hungry.” The words were muffled by the pillow she’d pressed her face into.
“Ahsoka, little one, I wasn’t asking.”
With a dejected sigh she sat back up, tucking her legs under her.
Anakin returned moments later with a bowl of soup in one hand and Ahsoka’s medicine in the other. He’d smelled it as he poured it into the little cup they gave him. He’d seen days old food from Mon Cala that smelled more appetizing.
Anakin placed the medicine on the table and Ahsoka eyed it warily, scrunching her nose at the murky green color. But then her annoyance was on a different subject as she snatched the spoon Anakin had held up in front of her face out of his hand.
She pointed it at him like a deadly weapon, eyes narrowed and far more awake than she had been moments ago. “I’m not a youngling. I’m perfectly capable of eating soup.”
Stifling a laugh he knew would probably get him smacked by his young apprentice, he raised his hands in surrender. He was slowly learning when to pick his battles with Ahsoka. Her independence was one he usually left alone.
Usually, he thought, as he fluffed the pillows behind her and tucked the threadbare blanket tighter around her shoulders.
After getting Ahsoka to take her medicine with only minimal complaining and minor bodily harm to either of them, Anakin reclined on the couch next to Ahsoka. She had turned on the holoprojector and was deeply engrossed in watching a cartoon he remembered from when he was younger.
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, until a soft weight landed against his shoulder. Anakin turned his head to find his little padawan slumped against him. A soft smile pulled at his face.
He shifted to rest his arm around her shoulders, and when she snuggled deeper into his chest, montrals barely scraping his chin, he would have sworn his heart melted just a little bit.
They’d hardly known each other for more than a month, and yet he already knew he’d do just about anything to protect her. She’d wormed her way into that exclusive circle of people he held close to his heart, and even though she’d bounced in with an attitude and stupid nicknames, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
A cold breeze rushed in through the overhead vent, and Ahsoka curled into an impossibly tighter ball in his arms. She scrunched up her nose, coming back awake, as she shivered.
“Hey, hey,” he soothed, sitting them both up. “Are you alright?”
“Cold,” she muttered, blinking slowly. He was starting to realize that while she was a chatterbox normally, when Ahsoka was exhausted her words were few and far between. She much preferred communicating with gentle taps and shakes of her head.
Concern shot through him at her statement and he pressed his flesh hand to her forehead. “Your fever’s not back, is it?” He pulled her blanket tighter around her shoulders and wrapped his arms tighter around her shoulders.
Ahsoka let out an oof at the sudden movement, but Anakin barely registered it. It wasn’t until sleepy little giggles echoed into their apartment that he pulled back in surprise.
His padawan doubled over in laughter the minute he let go of her, and while it was nice to hear her laugh after the ordeal they’d all been through, he was confused.
“What?”
She waved away his question, still struggling to speak. “Nothing. I just had no idea you were such a—.” Fear raced through him at her tiny pause, as his mind hurried to fill in the gap. A terrible Jedi, a failure at following the Code. He knew he wasn’t setting a good example for her, being so blatantly attached. What if she told the Council? What if the way he cared so much made her uncomfortable, and she requested to be reassigned to a real Jedi.
His thoughts were interrupted by Ahsoka’s snort. “A mother hen.”
Anakin spluttered as Ahsoka continued to laugh. But he couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face at her teasing. He shoved her shoulder and she flopped against the couch still giggling.
He rolled his eyes at her. “Such insolence when I’m just trying to be nice,” he said, even as he shrugged out of his cloak and laid it over the blanket she was already wrapped in.
Her eyes softened as her laughter died out. Another yawn interrupted the silence, and when she leaned back against him he was all too willing to wrap her in his arms and keep her warm while she slept.
She was his little padawan. His responsibility. He couldn’t keep her safe on the battlefield—in the war. But this, he could do. He could give her a few hours of safe, warm rest. He settled back against the corner of the couch, and stroked a hand lightly down Ahsoka’s back lek. His comm was already off and thrown somewhere across the room.
Anakin tightened his hold, resting his head against the top of Ahsoka’s. A soft smile graced her face as the ends of his hair tickled her montrals.
“Get some rest, Snips,” he whispered, before surrendering to sleep himself.

FFXIVWrite2022 Prompt #3 - Temper
Thancred was hoping for a nice quiet day off. He deserved as much. Being a hellishly handsome and devilishly devious rogue was hard work, especially because he also had to pretend to be a bard while he was at it, and both his singing and his playing were passable at best. He also knew about three songs and people started catching on to that fact pretty quickly after the third go around.
But no, this was the Rising Stones, Scions headquarters. There was no such thing as a quiet day. He was only one beer deep into day drinking when the doors started slamming.
Notably, that there was not much yelling told him well enough the identity of the feuding two. Xiao didn't know enough of the language to really express herself well, and Y'shtola, as a rule, never raised her voice. In fact, Thancred would have bet a full round for a full house of adventurers in the Seventh Heaven that Y'shtola would walk out without even a frown on her face.
Xiao was a different story. She ran out into the common room teary-eyed, much like the fair maiden she allegedly was under all of that armor, muscle, and bloodshed. She burst through the main doors to the Rising Stones and Thancred heard her whistle for her Chocobo while still in the Seventh Heaven.
Thancred quickly downed what remained of his current mug and hopped the bar to filled up another one. He also picked out a fine dry red wine, popped the cork and poured a glass, just in time for Y'shtola to appear. No worse for wear of course.
"Is that supposed to be for me?" Y'shtola asked as Thancred set the glass down on the bar and temporarily recorked the bottle. "It could be, if you'd like." "I shouldn't, I ought to go back to my studies." Y'shtola still sat down in a stool in front of him and took the proffered glass. They clinked their respective drinks together in a small toast, and then Thancred watched as Y'shtola downed the entire glass in one go.
See? Easy bet.
The Miqo'te shivered slightly as the wine traversed her gullet and pushed the glass over to Thancred, who nudged the cork off the bottle and poured another glass without a word. This one also went down almost immediately, but the third glass she had the sensibility to stop midway through.
Thancred took a sip of his beer and cleared his throat, "So." "So?" "Something you want to talk about then?" Y'shtola shot a withering glare at him, "And what would make you say that?" Her face, stone cold even if the insides of her ears were beginning to flush a bit and her hand was a bit more wobbily, betrayed nothing.
But of course, to Thancred, who was well aware of Y'shtola's mannerisms after so many years childhood rivals and friends, then colleagues, she betrayed everything.
"If it matters, she departed towards the Silvertear Lake." That is, not north, for the Coerthas Central Highlands. "Oh, did she tell you her exact plans while running out of the Rising Stones, sobbing?" "No, but she did whistle for her Chocobo." Y'shtola narrowed her eyes and took a sip from her glass. Thancred matched her expression and also took a sip from his mug. "I see," she said, and perhaps her body language changed an imperceptible amount. The unsaid implication was of course that Xiao left for a place without an aetheryte.
Meaning she did not head to Camp Dragonhead.
Y'shtola prided herself in many things. Foremost of them that she was the only apprentice and student to Master Matoya. This meant that she held herself to Matoya's rigorous standards even now. And perhaps in the witch's youth she had pursued or been pursued, but by the time Y'shtola came under her care, Matoya had already spent some thirty or forty years a spinster. Aetheric research and weaving magic were the only things she loved and cared for, and these values were imparted on Y'shtola from an early age.
However, Y'shtola was not Matoya. Maybe in fifty years she'd feel the same crotchety way about the world, but the current Miqo'te had been a impressionable child, then a hormonal teen, then a maturer yet still hormonal young adult. The Studium was never free of interpersonal drama, and Thancred and Y'shtola both had their shares. Never with each other of course, not when their respective mentors were constantly at each other's throats, and they had hated each other in the way children could. But they'd had... comparable lists of burned relationships and break ups. (Incidentally, their lists contained a few shared individuals, though never concurrently)
And so it was that Thancred could easily guess at what was going on this time around as well. Y'shtola found any sort of relationship a betrayal of that key part of her identity. It was unthinkable that she'd prioritize anything over her research, so when she found herself weighing her priorities, she'd overcorrect every time. Simple really, though woe betide the pitiful fool that pointed such a thing out directly to Y'shtola's face.
But what was new to Thancred about all of this was that Y'shtola didn't simply dismiss the relationship like an unwanted Carbuncle. Oh, it would be awkward, but it would pass soon enough, if only because Y'shtola would insist on acting like nothing was wrong. Was it because she was the one that recruited Xiao? Was it something that made her recruit Xiao in the first place? Why would she be so unable to extricate herself from Xiao?
Thancred quaffed the rest of his drink and set his mug down. He had a tack he wanted to try, "I would hazard to say that the Warrior of Light is not a primal of any sort." Y'shtola snorted, "Are you sure? She's collected enough crystals and answers our prayers." "An anti-primal primal? That doesn't explain her willingness to fight Garleans." "Fair," Y'shtola narrowed her eyes again, "Enough banter, speak plainly." Thancred refilled her glass without being asked, "Take it from me, a person who was literally possessed by a Paragon. This isn't a personal betrayal, you haven't been changed or altered in any way." Y'shtola took a thoughtful sip, well it was more of a gulp, and said, "You think that's what this is about?" "I'm just using our long personal history as a guiding star." "And what of our status as realm-saving agents? What if, while on mission, she has to choose between me and you? Between me and Minfilia? Me and the mission? How do you suppose she'd choose?"
Thancred narrowed his eyes and frowned slightly, "'Tis poor form to accuse others of your own shortcomings with these excuse. I have full faith that Xiao would choose all of the above, or, failing that, the right choice. But decisions afield are never so rigidly black and white, of this you are well aware." Y'shtola placed the glass down a little more heavily than she was probably meaning to. Her formerly stoic expression split with a smile, but Thancred saw it as a rictus. Twelve be good, he pushed too far. "Wouldn't you agree, Master Thancred, that she'd be better off with some commander of a base to warm her bed instead of a barely solvent academic turned part-time adventurer who would leave that bed cold? Doesn't she deserve more as Warrior of Light than a group of busybodies seeking new ways to get themselves killed while trying to fulfill the impossible goals of their dead mentor?" "She chose you." Thancred said, "She chose to believe in us."
Y'shtola's smile disappeared and she leaned her head against her arms on the bar, "Can you not see then how I'd wish her to choose differently?" "Aye, 'twould be so much easier for you and yours no doubt. It is fearful indeed to fall in love, it's why I don't do it, but I never took you for a craven soul, Y'shtola."
She got up suddenly, a bit less steadily than she probably hoped to, and turned immediately back for her personal quarters, sparing not a word or a glance back at Thancred.
Which is how Thancred knew she was crying.

Heavy Is The Crown
Warnings: None
Venti x GN!Minstrel!Reader
3.1k Words
Venti's a servant boy at the palace that you fall in love with... right?
Tumblr media
You’re the apprentice of the renowned Minstrel Chapman of the Riverside Performers Company. And recently your company was invited to go perform at the palace for the royal family of Mondstadt. It’s understandable really, they probably need some joy and relaxation in their lives considering the difficult war that is waging on. Of course, you’re one of the few to see it that way.
“People are dying on the battlefield every day, and the King and Queen want to make merry?” Archibald scoffed. “Peace, Archibald,” Grisela soothed. “This war is difficult for them as well.” Archibald scoffed again but chose not to respond further. These sorts of discussions were common now-a-days, and a gap of misunderstanding and hurt is starting to grow between the rulers and their people.
This really concerned you because you’d once known the son of a Baron and he had explained these sorts of difficulties to you. Your goal was to try and help bridge the gap. Since Master Chapman has charged you to write a song yourself for the royal performance, you have decided to write a song that could help with that. But the problem is that you have no idea what to write! And you’re running out of time.
When your company reaches the palace the next day, you are no closer to having written the song than you were before. Thankfully you all had arrived at the palace a couple days early, so you still had some time to come up with your song. However, you were feeling so nervous that you couldn’t even focus on trying to compose it at all.
So you decided to take a break and wander around the palace grounds, as you and your company had been invited to do when you arrived. As you did so, admiring the beautiful flowers and bushes of the garden, you ended up running into someone. Literally as in one moment you were standing up, and the next you were sitting on the ground clutching your head.
“Sorry! I’m so sorry,” someone apologized to you. “I should’ve been better about looking where I was going. Are you okay?” Peeking up, you see a servant boy with black hair in braids with teal tips and a flower tucked behind his ear. “Yes, I’m fine,” you assure him. “A little stunned, but I’ll be alright in a minute.”
“Are you sure?” He asks worriedly. When you nod he breathes a sigh of relief. “That’s good to hear, Head Maid Maribel would have my head if I hurt a guest.” You smile and laugh a little. “Well we can’t have that,” you tease. “I’m sure you look much nicer when you have your head on your shoulders.” He stills for a moment from his fiddling from a moment before, a blush spreading from his cheeks to his ears.
Spluttering some, he manages to squeak out, “Oh, um, thanks?” You look at him oddly. “Don’t tell me no one’s ever teased you like that before,” you say. “I, um, won’t tell you then.” He jokes, calming down some. You smile some and give him a wink, “Well, I’m honored to be the first then.”
“Oh!” He exclaims. “I need to be pruning some bushes right now.” Your smile drops a bit, you’d been hoping to spend some more time with him. Noticing that, he adds on, “Would you like to come along? We could talk more while I prune.” You easily agree, “I’d like that very much, thank you.”
More confident now that he had something to focus on, he continued to make small talk with you. You introduce yourself and the two of you get to know each other better; he is ecstatic to know that you’re a minstrel and play the lyre. “I’m learning to play the lyre too!” He declares. “Maybe you could teach me a thing or two.” You smile at him, happy to know that you have that in common.
“I would like that! But,” you admit, “unfortunately, I’m afraid I don’t have the time right now. My master has told me to write a song and I’m struggling to get it out. With the war going on, I want to write a song to help bridge the gap between the royals and the commoners. From my experiences with the son of a Baron I knew, this war is just as hard for them as it is for us.”
He pauses from snipping away at the bush he’s working on. “You know, I’m glad you see it that way,” he tells you with an oddly grateful look in his eyes. “My p- Their majesties have really been struggling recently, especially with the loss of support from the people. For all the life of nobility looks wonderful, it comes at a cost. You lose freedom, always have to put others before yourself, can’t show any weakness, and bear the weight of every death on your shoulders.”
The odd phrasing and sudden correction go straight over your head as your muse suddenly rears its head. “I think I’ve got it now,” you blurt out. He blinks and tilts his head, confused. “Well I’m not sure what I did or said to help,” he replies, “but I’m glad I could help.”
You give him a big hug. “Really, you helped a lot,” you admit. “I need to go get started composing! But, uh, do you think I could see you again later?” He returns the hug. “Sure thing,” he murmurs in your ear. “I should be out here for the rest of today and all of tomorrow, but you’ll need to find me.”
“I think I can do that,” you murmur back and pull away from the hug. “See you tomorrow,” you call out to him as you start heading back to your Company. He watches you until you’re out of sight, before he goes back to pruning. “Well, that was fun,” he cheerfully tells himself. “I hope they do come back tomorrow. It’s not everyday I get to talk to someone like that.”
Composing the song was child’s play once you pick your lyre back up and get to work. The boy’s words repeat over and over in your head as you plan out lyrics and try different tunes. Master Chapman was thrilled when you played your song for him and assured you that the royals would love it. “It’s a wonderful tribute to all they do for us. And it helps us understand them and makes them more relatable to us,” he confirms. “I’m sure it will help you achieve your goal of helping bridge the gap between commoners and royals.”
When you find the boy the next day, you’re nearly vibrating in excitement. “Hey you,” you call. “Guess what?” His head turns to see you mid-snip and the branch lands on his head. You run over to make sure he’s okay. “Are you alright?” You ask him. “Yeah,” he responds sheepishly. “I guess this time it’s you who has to worry about getting me hurt.”
“Well that’s good,” you state, pouting at his teasing. “Oh! I realized yesterday that I don’t know your name!” He rubs the back of his head, embarrassed. “Ehe, sorry, I can’t believe I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Venti, it’s nice to officially meet you!”
“That’s a wonderful name,” you reply. “I like it a lot.” He smiles wide, “Thanks!” As the day continues you continue to talk with each other. Eventually he ropes you in to helping him with his chores. Thanks to that he gets done early and, after reporting back about finishing, he’s able to just spend the rest of the day with you.
After a certain point you’re able to admit to yourself that you’re falling for him. He’s cute, free-spirited, and makes you laugh. And maybe it’s just your imagination, but he seems to enjoy your time together too. The days left leading up to the performance are spent practicing and spending time with him. He’s tried to get you to play the song for him, but you insist that he wait for the performance to see.
The day of the performance comes very quickly, too quickly in your opinion. For all the compliments everyone who has heard your song gives you, and all the minds it has changed, you’re still incredibly nervous to perform it. What if they don’t like it? Will they find it presumptuous for you to write such a thing? When the time comes, will you mess up?
But the moment it’s your turn you take a deep breath, remind yourself that this is what you’re training for, and take your place on stage. Looking at the audience, you see the King and Queen, but, oddly enough, Prince Barbatos did not seem to be present. You strum your lyre and introduce yourself and your song. The audience seems intrigued that you would write such a song, so you take courage and start singing.
The stars are very beautiful, above the palace walls,
They shine with equal splendour, still above far humbler halls.
I watch them from my window, but their bright entrancing glow,
Reminds me of the freedom I gave up so long ago.
Although I am the head of state, in truth I am the least,
The true royal knows their people fed, before they sit to feast.
The good royal knows their people safe, before they takes their rest,
Thinks twice and thrice and yet again, before they make request.
These tears that burn my eyes are all the tears a royal can't shed,
The tears I weep in silence as I mourn my soldiers dead.
Oh gods that dwell beyond the stars, if you can hear my cry—
And if you have compassion—let me send no more to die!
(See: The Cost of the Crown by Mercedes Lackey, Debra F. Sanders)
As the last note fades the crowd stands with roaring applause. You feel a warmth spread across your cheeks as you bow deeply and return to your place standing with your company. Those standing around you congratulate you quietly as the next member steps up to perform.
Soon the performance is over and your Company is preparing to leave. Surprisingly many members of the Company had changed their minds about royals and the Company Head, Ferdinand, approached you to pass on the gratitude and appreciation from the King and Queen themselves. Venti showed up one last time, and Master Chapman allowed you to go speak with him as a treat for a job well done.
“That was amazing!” Venti shouts. “Did I really help you write that? I was hiding behind some curtains to listen and it was so amazing that I cried.” He grins so bright that you almost have to close your eyes. “I’m glad you liked it!” You say as you smile back. His happiness was contagious, and it didn’t help that you were completely smitten with him at this point. But alas, it was not meant to be.
Master Chapman called your name, letting you know that the Company would be leaving soon and that you’d have to come back within the next minute or two if you didn’t want to be left behind. Venti’s smile dims. “Are you sure you can’t stay?” He inquires. “Yes,” you sigh. “But who knows? Maybe I’ll see you again some day. But until then…” You trail off. He looks at you curiously, tilting his head again. Quickly, so as to not chicken out, you peck his check and run back to the Company.
“Until then!” You call out to him. The Company leaves as soon as you get there, so you’re not able to look back to see him. But if you could have, you would have seen him blushing as red as a rose, with a hand on his cheek where you kissed him. “Until then,” he whispers quietly. “I’ll make sure I’ll see you again.”
---
Years pass, and your apprenticeship ends. You make quite the name for yourself, and your song has worked wonders to heal the relationship between the people and their rules. Of course you write many more songs, but your first is always your favorite. Because he helped you write it. Many people have asked to court you, but you have turned them all down. Even after all these years, Venti the servant boy still holds your heart.
One day a messenger comes to speak with Ferdinand, bringing both good and bad news. Ferdinand calls the whole company together to share it. “Good friends, I’m sad to say that the King has passed away.” He announces, and the Company breaks into whispers and conversation. You think you may have even seen Gwenivere crying. “However, we have been invited to perform at Prince Barbatos’ coronation!”
This was wonderful news! Perhaps you could take this chance to see Venti again! You’d missed him dearly. But the more you thought about it, the more worried you became. Maybe he’d moved on and married someone else already. Would he still remember you? Will he want anything to do with you now? What if you didn’t like you and is upset about the kiss you gave him before you left?
You shake those thoughts out of your head and take a deep breath to calm yourself. Then you feel a hand clamp down on your shoulder and you must’ve jumped several feet in the air in your surprise because the person behind you burst into laughter. Embarrassed, you turn around to see Ferdinand, now laughing so hard that he was having trouble standing up.
“Yeah, yeah,” you grumble at him, good naturedly. “I’m sure startling me was very funny.” Finally calming down, Ferdinand gave you a great big smile. “It most certainly was,” he assured you. “But I didn’t come to you with the intention to startle you.” You raise an eyebrow as you continues. “I wanted to let you know that you were actually mentioned by name, so you may want to prepare something special.
Your jaw dropped. It wasn’t exactly uncommon for someone to be specifically named, but this was from the Prince himself! Still stunned, you nodded. “I’ll write the best song I can,” you promised him. “I’m sure you will,” he replied confidently. He didn’t stay long after that, just letting you know the basics of when the Company would be leaving and how soon the coronation would be.
As you travel you do your best to compose a song. However, you soon find yourself stuck. Your muse is gone again, just like it was the last time you went to the palace. Oh well, perhaps Venti could help you again. It would be wonderful to spend more time with him anyway, so you don’t worry too much about it.
The Company reaches the palace after a week of travel. You look for Venti in the gardens all day, but can’t find him anywhere. ‘Perhaps he got moved to working in the castle?’ You wonder to yourself. But either way, that meant he wouldn’t be able to help you write your song. So you sat down that night and did your best to compose.
It wasn’t really working, but you did your best. The next morning was chaotic, as the Company had been informed that the Prince himself would be coming out to welcome you all. You hurriedly joined in making the company camp look presentable and changed into your best clothing before going out to stand with everyone else.
The Prince was announced before the palace doors opened to reveal… Venti. Your eyes went wide and your jaw must have dropped to the ground. Those who were in the company before very carefully didn’t turn to look at you, though the newbies couldn’t help but look at you, confused. You quickly composed yourself as he scanned the crowd, though the smiles of some of his guards told you that your reaction did not go unnoticed.
It was very much him. The same dark hair with teal tipped braids. His eyes brightened as they met yours. He strode forward and the crowd parted before him. You were about to move as well until he stopped before you, fell to one knee, took one of your hands, and gently kissed it. Your face warmed again in a way that it hadn’t since you last saw him.
His eyes sparkled with mirth as he saw the look on your face. “Hello again,” he said gently. “Hi,” you squeaked. “It’s, uh, it’s good to see you again?” He laughed, “It’s good to see you again too. I know I kept my status a secret before, and I’m sorry I didn’t tell you the truth then, but could I ask you a question?”
“O-of course,” you respond. He smiles charmingly. “Will you marry me?” That’s it. You must’ve died and gone to heaven. Or maybe someone had put something in your breakfast. Or maybe he had the wrong person. You looked side to side to see if there was anyone else he could be talking to before you point to yourself. “M-me?” You ask, hesitantly. “You,” he says confidently. “I fell in love with you all those years ago, and I could never imagine myself with someone else.
“Though I would understand if you’re with someone else. It’s been so long and you’re so wonderful that you must have received many invitations to courtship.” A shy smile spreads across your face. “I have received many offers,” you admit, and his face falls a bit. “But I’ve turned them all down. My heart was taken years ago by my dear Venti the servant boy.”
You get down on your knees and kiss the hand that is holding yours. “I would love to marry you, if you’ll have me.” He smiles brighter than the sun. “Nothing would make me happier,” he declares, and he pulls you in for a kiss. You pull away for air and nuzzle your nose against his. “I do have one request though,” you continue. “Anything, my love,” he swears. “Court me properly first, please,” you request.
“I can do that,” he laughs as he pulls you in for a hug. “How about we start with having lunch together,” he whispers in your ear. “That sounds like a great plan,” you agree. He gives you another quick kiss before standing up, pulling you to your feet, and leading you back to the palace.
You ignore the whistles and applause of your Company as you follow him, grateful for their support but wanting to give your suitor all your attention. This was the first day of the rest of your life, and you wanted to appreciate every minute of it. And every minute was just as wonderful as you’d ever imagined.
As queen, you were able to bring the kingdom together and closer than ever before. The people loved their rulers because they knew their rulers dedicated themselves to them. And the rulers responded in kind. The war ended, peace prevailed, and you got your perfect happily ever after.

Okay hear me out, what if childhood friends to lovers but it's TABOO 👀 like s/o is a commoner(?) that Barok maybe befriended accompanying Klint around in London once and Klint was honestly just happy that his little brother made a friend so he was supportive. S/o eventually makes a name for themself by excelling in their chosen career (maybe detective?) But otherwise don't have any status or such?
The feelings are mutual but s/o is nervous to say anything because they're aware that they lack the status to be a "worthy"/acceptable partner, so eventually Barok caves and confesses instead? Perhaps with some encouragement from Klint? (I'm feeling like.... 18-20 year old Barok here?) Maybe Klint is cool with it because-at least at this point- he's the head of the family and has a wife so he's not too worried about Barok marrying someone with status as long as they make him happy?
Idk I'm a big sucker for "forbidden romance but it works out anyway" lol thanks!
Headcanons (Forbidden Fruit)
Notes: You're very valid for enjoying forbidden romance, friend! There's something so compelling about it (and it's especially good when things work out!).
S/O is gender neutral (they/them pronouns). Barok refers to them using petnames.
Content Warnings: societal expectations; questioning self-value / worth; class politics
Barok met them, on Ludgate Hill, on his way home from watching Klint in court. He was fascinated by the chalk patterns they were drawing on the pavement and trotted ahead of Klint to ask them what they were doing.
"Going to play hopscotch!" they replied with a big smile, "Want to play too?" upon Barok nodding, they taught him how to play and the two set about hopping from square to square as the game proscribed. Klint hung back to watch as his brother immersed himself in a moment of play that was sweet to observe.
Eventually Barok realised he'd been keeping his brother waiting, "O-Oh! I'm sorry brother... I ... got a bit carried away."
"Nonsense, Barok! It's nice to see you with a friend, are you going to introduce me?"
"Oh!" It dawned on Barok that he hadn't even introduced himself to his new friend, but thanks to Klint introductions were made.
"Everyone calls me 'Trouble'," they said, almost proudly, "Nice to meet you, Barok, Mister Klint."
"M-Mister Klint?" suddenly he felt very old, despite only being in his twenties... Still, it was lovely to see Barok interacting with someone his own age: usually his little brother didn't have much opportunity for being a child, so this was a nice opportunity for him, "... Anyway... perhaps you'd like to come to our house for dinner one day, 'Trouble'?"
"Yea that sounds good! I'm usually here, playing hopscotch or marbles or somethin'! So just come find me, ok Barok?" the younger brother nodded, and promised he would come back to visit his new friend.
Gradually Barok and Trouble would become thick as thieves, playing games together and going on adventures. They were easily his best friend, and Klint was more than happy to let the friendship blossom.
As the two grow older, Barok started to notice just how fond he was of his friend while they became increasingly aware of the class divide between them –– Barok was of noble blood, even they'd heard of the van Zieks family. There were a few people telling them that their friendship with the younger son was unusual indeed, but why was that? Barok was just a kid, like anyone else...
The years leaf by and despite the odds their friendship remained strong, even when Barok left to attend university –– he would regularly write to his friend, Trouble, who had joined Scotland Yard as an apprentice.
When they meet again, as young adults, there's definitely an attraction between them but Trouble is unwilling to acknowledge it or act upon it. Their time in the Yard has taught them even more about the class divide, and they're pretty sure that eventually Barok is going to tell them that he cannot be seen associating with them because they're a lowly commoner.
It stings to think about that conversation, but surely one day it has to come? One day he'll have to put his status before his friendship, and they're dreading it...
From Barok's perspective, he's struggling with his ever-growing feelings toward his friend and the feeling that things are strained between them. Is that his fault? Is he making it awkward for them? Of course, Barok's also concerned about harbouring such fondness for them because he doubts he'd be allowed to pursue such a relationship –– though he would very much like to
Thus, for a while, the two quietly agonise over their respective feelings / positions, and it becomes clear to Klint that something is weighing heavily on his brother's mind and so, in true Klint fashion, he takes his brother out (probably to a pub) to ask him directly what's troubling him so.
After quite a bit of cajoling (and a few drinks), Barok fesses up about what's going on in his head and his heart: he's had fond feelings toward his childhood friend for a while now, and those feelings have only grown stronger, and not only does his friend seem to be growing distant (he fears because he makes them awkward) but he also feels despondent because it's not something he can act upon, being of 'noble' blood.
Klint pats Barok's shoulder and says, "Well, all you need is the blessing of the master of the family, don't you?" to which his younger brother nods, "Well, you have it, Barok. Your happiness means far much more to me than the standing of your beloved. I don't care if they're a commoner or a member of royalty, so long as they make you happy. I can handle the politics, alright?"
That gives Barok the confidence to, in his own awkward yet adorable way, confess to his beloved friend that he has feelings for them and he'd like to be with them –– if they'll have him.
Barok's confession startles them, because when he said 'I need to talk to you' they'd wholly expected the conversation they've long been dreading: the 'you're a commoner, so I cannot be seen to associate with you anymore' talk. To hear that he had feelings for them and wanted to be with them was unbelievable. "This... isn't a joke, right?" they ask, tentatively.
"It's not a joke," he assures them, "I... have been in love with you for quite some time but I had no idea how to broach the subject. I fear that made me more distant of late and I'd like to apologise for my lack of communication."
"....." all this time they'd thought Barok was plagued with concern for his noble standing, when in reality his feelings toward them had only seemed to grow deeper –– as had their own toward him, but they'd told themself that such thoughts only belonged in fairy stories and dreams, "... Barok I... I... but..." yet doubts still lingered in their mind, "What about your standing? You're a noble, I'm just a commoner..."
"Don't worry about that, my brother has given his blessing to me... we can make this work, if you'll have me... that is."
"Oh..." and now it really does feel like a fairy story, but it's not fiction: it's reality, Barok loves them and wants to be with them and Klint has given his blessing to him being with someone like them. They throw themself into his arms and cuddle him, "Of course I'll have you! I wouldn't want anyone else!"

*Ahem* Royai, duh?
✋How they met
Tumblr media
Surprisingly, they didn’t meet at her father’s house. Not, actually it happened way back in kindergarten. Riza was quiet, and she dressed funny, and she always seemed dirty, so she was an target for bullying in the rather well to do private school they were in. On the first day of school Roy (who was a Casanova even at age six) decided this would be a good time to rescue a helpless damsel from the bullies surrounding her, taunting. Unfortunately, he underestimated the number and size of the kids teasing her and got his ass kicked. Luckily for him Riza quickly stepped into help. She smashed one bully’s nose in with her book and then pulled out a pocket knife. They all left in a hurry. And at that moment, Roy realized he was in love.
😘First kiss
Ah...so the first kiss wasn’t exactly a happy one. It was during Ishval. They had won a pretty important battle and everyone was celebrating. They both got drunk. The kiss felt good, and Riza probably would have been ready for more despite the circumstances (screw it, she was going to die soon anyway) but Roy walked off. Even drunk he couldn’t get rid of the feeling that he didn’t deserve her kisses, especially during a ‘celebration’ of him frying more innocent people. Riza honestly thought he had a problem with her and that was the first time she cried in Ishval.
🤯First fight
It depends on what you mean by fight. They got in a lot of fistfights as kids, but that wasn’t ever personal. They bickered constantly but the only big, painful fight they ever had was on promise day, when she almost had to shoot him. The first lighthearted, bickering fight they ever had was when he was apprenticed to her father and she would remind him to do his homework. Not much has changed, honestly.
🍷First date
When he was still an apprentice to her father, they used to wait until he was asleep and then Roy would take her places. He did it mostly to be nice, because Riza didn’t get a lot of fun and growing up in a brothel met he knew exactly which bars would give a couple of kids drinks. But they were honestly dates in everything but name.
💍How they got engaged
Well, they didn’t make the decision. Grumman declared they were getting married at one of his press conferences. “I have decided to end the anti-fraternization and allow my granddaughter to finally marry General Mustang.” Riza just looked at Mustang and said “Okay.” Later on he did do the entire fancy dinner date and gave her a expensive engagement ring.
💒Wedding
Actually, it was surprisingly small and private. It was really sweet and quiet. To everyone’s surprise Roy made Fullmetal his best man, mostly as a joke. Other than a very insulting speech about how Riza was probably out of her mind to marry such an idiot, he was really nice about everything. Riza’s wedding dress had a very high neck (to hide the scarring) and a very short skirt. She still has a gun holstered to her thigh, wedding or no wedding. Rebecca is the maid of honor, and as Riza honestly doesn’t have many friends both Olivier and Winry are bridesmaids. Of course, Elicia is the flower girl despite being a bit old for it. Hayate is the ring bearer. Just kidding. Maybe.
👶First kid
Riza got pregnant after the first year of the their marriage. It was an accident. Their feelings on the matter were conflicted. On one hand, both were thrilled to have a baby, but in the other hand, it didn’t really fit very well into their plans. How did being a parent figure in with the possibility of future with the fire squad? Not mention both were really worried that they would be horrible parents due to everything they’d done in Ishval. To make things slightly more complicated, it turned out they weren’t going to have one but two children. But when the babies do come: a little Rianna and Thomas, they’re beautiful. Of course, Riza and Roy are great parents and the kids actually help them have more faith in themselves.
🥰A random fluff moment
Riza had forgotten exactly how cold it was up north. Shivering, she blew on her hands in hopes of warming them.
“Here,” Roy said, offering her his coat.
“Don’t you need a coat sir?”
“I had use my flame alchemy to heat myself up,” he said.
“Since when have you mastered that ability sir?”
“Just take the coat.”
She took it.
“You’re shivering an awful lot sir. Are you sure you’re not too cold?”
“N-nope. I-I’m g-r-eat.”
“Sir, really, you can have this coat. You’re going to get frostbite.”
“N-no. You k-keep the coat-t. T-that’s an or-rder.”
Olivier gave them both a look. “Mustang, either freeze to death quietly or kiss her now so we get on with this meeting. I would personally prefer the former, but anything would be better than watching your painful attempts at being a gentleman.”
Riza took advantage of his shock to give him back the coat.
😭A random angsty moment
“Thank you,” she says, as if there’s anything to thank him for. As if he’s not about to torture her.
Roy was good at torturing people. He had plenty of practice at this point. He knew exactly how much of his flame it took to cause a certain amount of pain. At least he could make it hurt as little as possible.
“I won’t scream,” she promised.
“Yeah, you will,” he knew exactly how loud it would be too. He had heard it countless time from countless lips and now he was going to hear it from her.
She nodded, so calm about the entire thing. Took her knife, torn off some of her white coat and wadded it up in her mouth. Stepped forward. Turned around to him.
He told himself to hurry up and do it. Waiting would only hurt her more. It shouldn’t be this hard. He’d done it a hundred times before. What was one more person?
He snapped his fingers, and a familiar smell of burning skin filled the arid desert air.
😩A random hurt/comfort
Riza was exhausted. She wasn’t sure how doing just menial tasks could drain someone so much, but it probably had something to do with the fact that her boss was a homunculus holding her hostage. To make things worst, even coming home was no relief. The shadows were everywhere, even in her small, bare apartment. The second she let herself feel safe, or stopped thinking about the fact that she was being watched constantly, he (or rather it) would remind her. Maybe it was a sudden sense of a creeping bloodlust, or the glimpse of slitted eyes and slices of teeth, all which disappeared the second she looked. She had no privacy. These last few days she hadn’t even dared to bathe.
To make things worst, today someone had broken into her apartment. She couldn’t even fathom why they would do that. Wasn’t the constant surveillance enough? But it was too well down for a common thief. If she hadn’t know better she wouldn’t of even noticed it was broken into. But she had placed a slip of paper in the door when she went out, and now it was gone.
“You’d better have not made a mess of things,” she muttered, hoping Pride could hear it. She opened the door and for a second was frozen in shock.
They hadn’t broken into her apartment at all. Roy had.
Flowers filled up the entire place. Some in vases (really expensive looking ones), some hanging from the ceiling, some just randomly scattered about. In the middle of her kitchen table was a note and bottle of whiskey.
Black Hayate ran up to her, barking happily. She reached down to pet him, rather absentmindedly.
“That idiot,” she murmured, fighting a smile. “He’s crazy.”
She went over to the table and picked up the note.
To 1st Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye,
Look, I’m sorry, but I really didn’t know what to do with the flowers. Please don’t shoot me.
I hope you enjoy the whiskey. It’s really good stuff. And you sounded like you needed it.
Roy Mustang. (Riza had to squint at the doodle next to his name. Was that a heart made out of flames? Really? Yes. Yes it was.)
PS: before you ask, yes, I’m doing my paperwork.
Riza rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t stop smiling. The flowers left plenty of shadows, but for once she couldn’t bother feeling scared. She took a swig of the whiskey and enjoyed the burn down her throat. Black Hayate jumped into her arms, and she cuddled him.
Leave it to Roy. The first time he sent her flowers and he had to give her an entire cart worth.

pirate king (7) || atz
Tumblr media
“So, you're saying you heard the voice of the sea monster.”
“Yes…” You say hesitantly, Seonghwa nodding encouragingly at you as you spill the beans to San. The healer's face is unreadable, inscrutable as he eyes you silently, fingers drumming over the side of his mug of tea.
“I can vouch for him.” Seonghwa speaks up but San shakes his head, setting down his drink with a thunk.
“It's not that I don't believe you, apprentice.” San's eyes are unnaturally sharp for such a soft person. He straightens his back, before giving you a pensive glance. “But for you to be able to hear the voice of a sea monster… what could it possibly mean?”
“Perhaps he is blessed similarly to Hongjoong?” Seonghwa suggests. The healer nods thoughtfully.
“That could be the case. We don't know who you were before you lost your memories, so that could well be the answer.” San explains, and you frown. You, blessed by a sea god?
“But I can't do that thing captain can… like making the ship move faster.” You try to get your point across. Apart from having heard the monstrous beast once, you're not much special anyway else. You have no voodoo magic thing about you, or any control over the wind. Hell, you can barely use a kitchen knife the right side up.
The cook ponders this thoughtfully. “Different people may be blessed different ways. It’s always a possibility you can consider-”
“Stowaway?” You jerk to your feet as a new voice comes from the door. There are two men standing in the doorway, much to your surprise. One you recognize, the lookout, Yunho, and the other seems vaguely familiar.
He’s at least half a head taller than you, with a rounded face and serious, deep brown eyes. He can’t be very old, but the way he carries himself is endearing, like a young boy trying to match up to his older peers.
“Are we interrupting anything, hyungs?” He asks, so seriously that you’re almost impressed for a moment. His face is stoic, waiting for a reply so earnestly you immediately feel an almost irrepressible urge to wrap him up in a massive hug and squish his cheeks. He’s dressed simply in a sky blue shirt with white strips over a white tee, tucked into black trousers. This seems to be standard clothing for most of the crew.
Ah, you remember where you’ve seen him before.
When you had been tied up on deck, you’d seen seen him working out on deck, doing an insane number of push ups, lifts, running back and forth the bow and stern until you had gotten tired just from watching him. He didn’t seem to exist within normal human limitations, doing sit ups with entire tree trunks or squats with other members of the crew twice his size on his back.
But it was his voice that left an impact on you the most. You had been battling a raging fever, agonizing pain and a terrible loneliness. One night, you had been in despair once again, wondering if you were going to be thrown to the sharks the next day or whether the captain would simply shoot you dead, when you had heard a voice singing.
“Born on the wrong side of the ocean With all the tides against you You never thought you'd be much good for anyone But that's so far from the truth I know there's pain in your heart And you're covered in scars Wish you could see what I do…”
Until now, you still don’t know what song it was, but it had lulled you out of your self pity and that night you had slept with a calm mind. Of course, the apple breaking had also helped to amuse you greatly, but the way he had sung, so soulful and with so much emotion, was something you couldn’t forget.
You wanted to thank him, but how?
“No, we were just chatting about how our stowaway’s cooking is getting better.” San smiles, and you whip around to stare at your master in shock so fast it almost gives you whiplash.
“You said my cooking tastes like raw fish innards!” You cry in protest, but the healer simply shrugs. Seonghwa tries to encourage you.
“You have gotten better at using a knife…” He says, smiling so genuinely it almost lifts your spirits for a moment. Then you remember Seonghwa is inherently good and literally not one bad thing can come out of his mouth.
“Your cooking used to taste like rotten fish innards, apprentice.” San says with a completely straight face, dodging the roll of bandage that comes sailing at his head with ease. But Yunho chuckles, and you see the teasing smile pulling at the side of your master’s mouth.
He’s playing with you again. You puff out your cheeks in annoyance, but San merely laughs at you.
“What do you need him for, Yunho?” Seonghwa asks, getting to his feet. The lookout gestures in your direction.
“Hongjoongie-hyung wanted us to teach the stowaway a little combat skill. Hate to break it to you, but no one can live a pirate without at least knowing how to defend yourself.” Yunho tosses you a short knife. You barely catch it, fumbling with the leather before gripping it tightly in your hands. You’re lucky the blade is wrapped in a sheath, or you’d have chopped off your own fingers.
You turn to San and the healer simply makes a shooing motion with his hands. You give him a dry look.
No touching words of wisdom or encouragement?
He shakes his head.
Nope.
You sulk and turn back to your new teachers. “I’ll be in your hands then.”
“Do your best!” Seonghwa calls from behind you as the pair lead you to the main deck. Some of the crew give you strange looks, undoubtedly wondering why their stowaway turned healer is with the lookout and their resident opera singer(?), but you ignore them.
“So, stowaway.” Yunho begins in some sort of introduction. “I’m Yunho, the lookout and a battlemaster. This kid here,” he jerks a thumb at the young man next to him, who immediately eyes his older crewmate with a scowl, “is Jongho, our resident maknae and the other battlemaster of the ship.”
“Nice to meet you.” Jongho says rather indifferently, looking at everywhere but you. You frown a little at his cold reception.
“Don’t worry about Jongho, he’s just a little shy around new people.” Yunho explains while dodging his junior’s fist, as if this is a common occurrence. “He’s also the youngest, so he’s never really been around anyone younger than him.”
You don’t really know what your age is, with your lost memories and all, but you are shorter than him, so you suppose that’s a fair assumption to make.
“Any questions before we begin?” The lookout asks, pulling a short knife from his belt and twirling it so effortlessly you’re already impressed. But you do have a question. Two, actually.
“What’s a battlemaster? And why are there two of you?”
“A battlemaster is a person who leads a fighting party during raids. We also train the crew in combat.” Yunho tells you. “Jongho is in charge of more… blunt weaponry, while I handle swords and pistols.”
“We’ll be starting off with determining which combat style you’re more suited to.” Jongho adds on quietly, reaching for the hem of his shirt, Yunho following suit. You’re confused for a moment, until you see the two of them starting to strip their clothes off.
Wait.
Wait.
“Wait!” You screech, shielding your eyes from the sight with your hands. “What are the two of you doing?”
“We’re going to be sparring with you, so we don’t want our clothes to get dirty from sweat.” Yunho sounds a little bewildered, and you hear him moving forward to remove your hand from your eyes. Before he can, you scoot backwards away from his voice…
...only to end up pressing against someone’s bare chest.
Help me.
“If it bothers you so much, we’ll put our shirts back on.” Jongho says gruffly from behind you, and gods help you because his voice is right at your ear and you can feel his chest thrumming against your back with every word he says. He steadies you with his hands before mercifully moving back from you, giving you some much need space and time to remove the flush from your cheeks. You hear the rustle of fabric and sighs from the two men, before Jongho finally gives you the cue to remove your hands.
“We’re decent.”
Hesitantly, you peek out from between the cracks of your fingers. Both men are dressed in their tees and trousers, overshirts slung over their shoulders.
“Honestly, stowaway, you scream like a woman.” Yunho chuckles. All you manage is a weak, little laugh, but you can’t help but think how true that statement is.
“Try to lift this.” Jongho passes you a wooden club with one hand, and fooled by the ease with which he carries the weapon, you accept it gratefully.
It's heavy.
It also almost smashes your recently healed foot into smithereens.
“Watch out for the club!” The younger battlemaster yelps, snatching the blunt weapon back from you in alarm. You’re wheezing, half in fear from your near foot crushing experience and the other half because your arms are screaming in pain.
How on earth did Jongho carry that? It's so heavy that your arms simply could not keep it off the ground. You’re still staring at Jongho in wide eyed open awe when he notices you.
“What?” He scowls fiercely, turning away. But you catch the red tinge on his cheeks.
“I would say you are not at all suited to Jongho’s usual style of fighting.” Yunho smiles amicably, throwing Jongho a sword. To your awe once more, Jongho easily catches it by the handle, flipping it over in his hand as if it is second nature to him. “Jongho will demonstrate a few moves with the cutlass.”
Jongho pauses to give his senior a dark look.
“I will?”
“Yes, you will.” Yunho eyes his junior with an excited smile and some kind of unspoken argument seems to happen between the two of them. In the end, Jongho sighs in exasperation, a long, heavy exhale and raises the sword.
“I hate the apple trick, so I’m only doing this once, alright?”
You barely have time to ask what the apple trick is before he launches into movement.
The tip of the blade pierces air, a whistling sound as the weapon scythes across mere inches from your nose. He’s barely completed a swing before he effortlessly reverses the action, twirling the blade and stabbing forward. Stepping forward, he spins the weapon in hand, executing a perfect downstroke, wielding the cutlass as if it is a natural extension of his own arm. You continue to watch, completely awestruck, as he finishes his demonstration with a final move, leaping high and twirling in midair, before bringing the blade right down on Yunho’s head.
You almost scream in shock, but then you see the razor sharp edge slice through an apple that Yunho must have placed on his head during the demonstration. The red fruit splits all the way in half, but the blade stops merely a hair’s breadth from Yunho’s head.
There’s silence for a moment, then a smattering round of applause from the crew that have been watching in respect of Jongho’s unparalleled skill.
“So that’s all you have to do.” Yunho is completely unruffled, tossing you a half of the apple while taking a munch of the other. You stare at him like he’s just slapped you in the face.
“That’s all?” You repeat incredulously. “That’s all?” Your voice starts rising in pitch uncontrollably. “I can’t do that! That’s crazy! Jongho is too talented!”
The maknae coughs lightly behind his hand, but he sounds pleased.
“I believe in you!” Yunho chirrups, taking another bite of his apple. “I don’t think anyone could quite reach Jongho’s level, but you should at least try to reach some level of proficiency to defend yourself and your crew mates during battles.”
“I know…” You gulp, and Jongho passes you a wooden sword. It’s longer than you expected, and slightly heavy. Its handle is modeled after the distinctive hand piece of the cutlass that seem to be standard issue on the pirate ship. You try lifting it. “So… Like this?”
“No, you’re holding it the wrong way round, dumbass.” Jongho groans, moving to correct your grip while Yunho looks up at the sky for some kind of divine help.
“This might take a while.” He mutters to himself with a serene smile.
The rest of your day is spent mastering your grip on the sword, learning a few basic swings and as Yunho loves to say, “Practice, practice, practice.” You drill the same movements over and over into your muscles with that single wooden stick so diligently that when night falls and Yunho spares you any more torture, you stumble to the galley with some strange urge in your arms to continue.
“Are you alright?” Seonghwa peers at you as you slump over at the table that he uses to prepare the rations, completely exhausted.
“No.” Your words are muffled against the counter top.
The cook gives you a sympathetic smile as he reaches for a bowl, scooping noodles into it. “Yunho and Jongho are hard taskmasters, but they do want the best for you. I’m sure you’ll improve by leaps and bounds with their guidance.”
“Like I am with cooking?” You offer weakly as Seonghwa sets the noodles and a cup of steaming green tea next to you. The cook pauses to consider that.
“Perhaps not as much.” He smiles at you gently and you snort, grabbing the fork.
“Do you fight, Seonghwa-hyung?”
The older man thinks about this for a moment. “Enough to defend myself.” He replies thoughtfully, tapping his spoon against his mouth. “I usually use a cutlass if I’m in close combat, but I prefer these.”
He points to the cooking knives hanging from his belt and your mouth falls open.
“Hello, hello.” Yeosang slides into the kitchen with a spring in his step, a book tucked under his arm and a smile on his face. He must be in a good mood. “Hyung, captain’s dinner, please.”
“Coming right up.”
“Wait… hyung, you mean you use the kitchen knives to prepare food with… to kill people? Isn’t that kind of unhygienic?” You babble on, a little grossed out by the fact you may have been eating dried human blood. Seonghwa laughs at your shock as he ladles more noodles into a bowl.
“Don’t be silly.” He shakes his head, reaching for the seasoning. “I clean my knives very well after every battle.”
You turn to the navigator, who’s sitting at the table opposite you, reading a thick book with several dog eared pages intently. You peer curiously at the cover.
“A Complete Sum of Names Commonly used in the East and Their Meaning.” You read aloud curiously. Yeosang turns to stare at you in surprise.
“You read?”
You don’t know whether to be insulted or flattered, so you decided to go with flattered and twist a little smile on your face. “Yes?”
Yeosang must have seen the sour look, because he rushes to explain his words in a more polite manner. “I didn’t mean it that way, so I apologise if you feel insulted. It’s simply uncommon for most folk to know their letters, so I rather impressed that you could read.”
Oh, now you feel a little flattered.
“Well, thanks.” You’re sure your cheeks are a faint shade of red, but you clap your hands to them to hide it. Yeosang catches sight of it and merely laughs gently.
Seonghwa comes over to the two of you, holding the bowl of noodles in one hand and two slender pieces of wood in the other, passing them to Yeosang. The navigator beams at the two of you and turns to leave, but just as he does, there’s a sound of a massive thunderclap and the ship momentarily heels to the right.
Agile and surefooted, Yeosang manages to keep his balance and Seonghwa even saves your bowl of noodles from toppling to the ground.
The three of you stare at each other in wide eyed shock. There’s a moment of silence… and then the frantic ringing of a bell breaks the calm of the night.
Seonghwa and Yeosang react immediately, the navigator slamming the bowl of noodles down on the table as the two rise to their feet with an urgency so different from their usual calm selves. They remind you of hawks in the moment, eyes narrowed and every muscle tensed for action. The tension is palpable.
You don’t know what the alarm is about, but it can’t be good if they reacted this way. You glance at the two men worriedly.
“What’s happening?”
Yeosang flinches and opens his mouth to speak, but your question is answered by Mingi’s bellow from the main deck, echoing all the way into the kitchen.
“Royal Navy! Royal Navy to the south!”

Tsukikage Fujiyoru’s backstory/more info on him:
- (For more context) Within his family, his oldest sister was the person he had the closest relationship with. His parents were always out on missions, so the only adult in the house was his grandmother. His grandma often trained the two of them together before Kazuko (eldest sister) died.
Family members’ names: Kazuko (eldest sister) Itsuki (Second oldest sister) Hoshiko (Youngest brother)
When Tsukikage was eight, Kazuko had been attacked by a demon. She later died from blood loss. He knew that he couldn’t fight the demon on his own, so he told Itsuki and Hoshiko to go and hide while he ran away to distract the demon. His grandma wasn’t in the house because she was out doing... something. Tsukikage ran for a long time with the demon chasing him from behind until he had tripped and injured his arm and cheek. Before the demon could attack, a particular demon slayer had swooped in, tossing him aside before beheading the demon. (It was Obanai. Obanai saved him.)  (It turns out he’s a distant cousin from Tsukikage.)
He took Tsukikage to a nearby Wisteria House and returned him home the next day. When Tsukikage told him that he was part of the Fujiyoru family, Obanai told him that he’d never get far if he ran away like he did on that day. (Bro give him some slack he’s literally eight-)
And now for some other facts about him.
- When he was training, he once beat Obanai at arm wrestling. When he boasted about it, he got punched in the face by the arm he had beaten. They never did arm wrestling again. (One, because Tsukikage didn’t want to get clocked in the face again, and two, because it had hurt Obanai’s oh so fragile pride.)
“HAH! YES! I FINALLY BEAT YOU! I BEAT A HASHIRA- OOMPH!”
“What kind of kid are you? Ill-mannered and sloppy. Disgusting.”
“I’m sorry…”
-  He loves summer because he can do fireworks often. He likes sparklers the most, and likes drawing little figures in the air with them.
- He imagined Giyuu as worse than he actually was before he met him. This was mostly because of Obanai bad-mouthing him. However, he had heard Kyojuro say a few nice things about him, so he’s not sure who to believe.
- The pillars’ opinion on Tsukikage (assuming that they’ve all met) Tomioka: Persistent.  Himejima: Honest and disciplined. He’s doing well under his master’s influence. Iguro: My tsuguko. Too trusting for his own good. Uzui: Not quite flashy... he doesn’t take many risks and there isn’t really anything too exciting about him. Tokito: He’s like a mineral… I think it was called Lapis Lazuli. He has a nice presence. Rengoku: My brother’s friend! He’s a hard worker, and it’s lovely to have him around! Shinazugawa: A brat. Kocho: It’s good that he rarely gets injured. He’s quite the careful person! Kanroji: He’s a wonderful apprentice! We have a lot in common!

TIME FOR A RANDOM HEADCANON POST YEEEEEEEEEE
Six: Fantasy AU
Premise: The queens are all rebels against the Tudor kingdom. They are wanted criminals as escaped wives of King Henry. Anne and Lina were the first two to group together and then decided to get the others to join their force so they could work together to finally put an end to Henry’s kingdom of terror. They then have many gay adventures together.
Aragon: a priestess from the church of Stanlicia (cause Alicia is the god of gay nirvana, no I don’t take criticism). Don’t let the holy woman vibe fool you though, she might focus on her bible, but she also is not afraid to drop kick any fucker who comes remotely close to her in any threatening manner. Aragon, although the only human of the group, is well known as the one you should not fuck with. She is the leader of the group, seeing as she is the only one who can read a map and not get distracted by colorful flowers or ancient ruins *insert Cathy and Kat feeling attacked in the background*. She has stupendous charisma and leadership skills, knowing when to be assertive and when to be cautious. She is also a distance fighter, rocking a nice bow and arrow set. Her talents are pep talks, singing, persuasion, distance offensive maneuvers, and leadership.
Tumblr media
Anne: a fucking elf. What else did you expect? Okay, but seriously? Full on elf, raised from status and privilege, yet heavily burdened by expectations and gender stereotypes. Anne is a free spirit just like how her mother was, and after her mother’s passing she took on her mother’s dream of adventuring the world. She ran away from home with Kitty, never looking back. She is definitely the risk taker of the group, often causing chaos and laughing at their enemies failures. Truly a master of combat and swordsmanship, Anne wields dual swords that she had stolen from Henry. She struggles with magic even though she is an elf, and she is very insecure about the subject. She is also a bit of the flirt of the group, but only genuinely means it when she’s with Cathy. Often at times she can be found asking Cathy to do a spell for some impulsive idea she had. Her skills are sleight of hand, deception, persuasion, seduction, animal handling, combat, and dance.
Tumblr media
Jane: a nymph who literally tries to adopt every plant and animal in sight. As long as it’s not among the “civilized” races, to her it has a heart and deserves love. Firm believe in fuck humanity and fuck kids, she’s a proud plant mama. A lover more than a fighter, she is more of the groups support. She has plenty of herbs for healing and knows where to go when in need of food or water, or even direction. She also befriends plenty of animals, so when push comes to shove they defend her. She can also control plants which is pretty badass, she literally used vines to yeet some of Henry’s men off a cliff into the lake once. Anne was so jealous and begged Cathy for a week to give her plant arms so she could be badass like Jane. That was a good day. Her skills are healing, navigation, empathy, nature knowlegde, basic survival skills, among a few others. Out of the group though, she is the worse fighter.

Anna: she is part demon. Demon have been banished and slaughtered for years, their existence is believed noneexistent at this point in time due to the years of war and persecution. Although minor, Anna is well aware of the demon blood that runs through her veins and constantly has to hide her dark magic or else she’ll be ostracized and murdered. It doesn’t matter how much demon blood is inside a person, they have the potential to turn into a full fledged demon, and that is Anna’s greatest fear along with the group leaving her and deeming her a monster. Although her race has dark origins, Anna is one of the most loyal and softest people you’ll ever meet, always caring for the others and doing whatever she can to protect them. She is attached to them. Sir, that is her emotional support found family. Just don’t breathe negatively in Kat’s direction, Anna will hear it and then give you a glare that makes hell seem like a playground. Her expertises are forgotten languages, sleight of hand, and tank battling styles. She is very well trained in hand to hand combat and can kick some major ass with her overwhelming strength (which is totally human and not demon what so ever.... hehehe.)

Kat: she is Anne’s baby cousin and somewhat like an apprentice, also a half elf. She is a dual axe wielder, but also quite the performer and grifter just like her cousin. Her elf nature gives off the image of status, even if she is a magicless elf whom are viewed to be worthless scum. However her human side gives her some trouble and nasty rumors, along with making her a bit more impulsive than most elves (then again, seeing Anne, that might just be the family). She is a very gentle gal when it comes to taking care of others, and she begs for a familiar everyday. Kat has a fascination with history and adventure and is the second best story teller, only falling short to her cousin Anne. More often than not you will catch her singing while she practices her axe swinging. Although small and gentle, don’t mistake her for incompetent and weak unless you want to lose a hand or your head to her axe. She might be baby, but babies don’t take shit from bigots. Her expertises are in history, disguise, music, and sneak attacks.

Cathy: She is a fucking witch, and a badass one at that. She was a gifted magic user since a very young age. While most people are able to unlock and control enough magic around the age of puberty, Cathy was able to manage hers at the age of six. This she was very proud of as her dutiful nature allowed her to learns a galore of spells, potions, and legends through her research and practice. However, it also caused her to have to pick her activation phrase and motion, something that can never be changed, at a young age. Let’s just say, she has regrets and Cathy’s parents knew she was bi since Cathy was six. Anyways, she totally kicks ass. After getting bored of mastering the basic extensive magics, Cathy decided to study mythology and psychology and dove into the dark magics. Although dark magic users are ostracized and in majority of the land illegal, Cathy couldn’t stop herself from falling in love with the subject and becoming a dark mage / witch. Her skills are potion making, knowledge of multiple languages, dark magic, sarcasm, explosions, enhancements, protection, writing, and more. She is one of the most powerful magic users in the land and have a vast knowledge of magic and beings. Now if only she could fucking figure out herself, or at the very least learn how to get a decent amount of sleep.
