This bothers me so much.

At the beginning of Road to El Dorado, Miguel and Tulio are playing dice with some sailors. The number they want to roll is 7, which they've been doing with two loaded dice. When they have to roll two regular dice, they're worried they won't roll 7. Which is

the most common number you can roll on two dice.

Why are they worried?! Why would anyone play against those odds?!

Would you say that the indigenous people including Chel from The Road to El Dorado are Muisca, considering that the myth of El Dorado came from wishful thinking of greedy conquistadors wanting more gold after "discovering" the Muisca people and the Golden Man or El Hombre Dorado?

My issues with The Road to El Dorado are pretty numerous and the portrayal of the Indigenous people of El Dorado is at the center of it. Colombia is my home country and while I am not Muiska, I am Indigenous to Colombia (Iku Arhuaco) and it is what I plan to do in my graduate studies. Now I don't have the time to really like, put sources since this is going straight from the mouth. (Also rip english in case i mess up)

To answer your question before I delve into it, I would say no, that I would not consider them Muiska. The people of El Dorado bear little resemblance to the actual Muiska, be it historical or now, other than the tie between El Dorado and the Muiska people. I will say that I also won't accept any submissions from the movie as well.

Chel and her people are quite divorced from what the Muiska culture is. I've seen many people even confuse it with more Mesoamerican tribes.

The only one who truly wears gold is the zipa, such as shown in the middle image (Tisquesusa) and the legend of El Dorado comes from the ceremony at Lake Guatavita, where it was said the zipa would cover himself in gold dust and make offers to gods.

The true clothing worn is actually plentiful. As skilled weavers of cotton and sheep wool, the clothing focuses on geometrical and animal-based designs that were sacred. There is little to see in any of the designs, and in the case of Chell, she is barely clothed which is definitely not something that bodes well representation-wise considering how sexualized she is.

The architecture is completely different as well, with no true reference to what it actually looks like:

What is most important to realize is that there are still Muiska people in Colombia today, and there was no input from them in the movie at all.

It's an issue a lot of these movies had and it made them worse. I could probably go on for much longer, but I should probably cut this down. But yeah, I wouldn't consider them Muiska. (Sorry for the late reply it has been like a solid few months since this asks lmao)

The wild thing in Road to El Dorado is that the gods that Tzekel Kan worships and that Miguel and Tulio are making a mockery of clearly actually exist.

After all, Tzekel Kan's magic spell which connects him to the jaguar statue that he uses to attack the false gods absolutely and unquestionably works.

It's interesting to examine a reading where Tzekel Kan very much IS the chosen speaker for his gods and doing their will, and Miguel and Tulio are a couple of mortals standing in defiance of them.

I feel like this honestly both makes Tzekel Kan more sympathetic, and also Miguel and Tulio more heroic for actually standing against a blood god.

Also I think Tzekel Kan was probably disappointed when the (supposed) avatars of the gods didn't want to take him to bed. He does look at them with some pretty obvious interest. (Everybody else in the movie is queer, why not him too?)

How would you rank these animated films involving Indigenous Americans?

You can do it however you see fit (representation, story, music, etc.) I have nit picks and things I like with all of them:

"Pocahontas": great music, animation, themes, and characters, but the historical parallel holds it back from being as iconic as other Disney projects. 7/10

"The Emperor's New Groove": very funny with great characters, but not the epic scope of typical Disney films--plus the setting/culture is more of a backdrop, as it feels more modern than medieval. I'll always wish we got "Kingdom of the Sun." 6/10

"The Road to El Dorado": Great characters and animation, but I do wish that the trio and the villain were more fleshed-out--figuratively, not literally--so we could better understand their pasts and motivations. 5/10

"Brother Bear": I love the brotherly story, but I don't really like animal-centric films (except Zootopia). Had it been a musical and focused on the brothers as humans, I'd probably love it. 3/10

Three ships: Patrochilles, Fizzozzie, Maxley(forgive me, it's been showing up everywhere. It's just a phase, I'm sure it'll pass.)

First ship: My first ship was probably something like Shang/Mulan, Chang'e/Hou Yi. The first ship while knowing what a ship was probably Adrienette or something from a disney channel show.

Last TV show: Cobra Kai. Me, my sister, and my dad made it a tradition to watch Cobra Kai together everytime a new season comes out.

Currently watching: The Road to El Dorado. I don't know how many times I watched this movie. Found it while searching for Prince of Egypt(which is a great movie 10/10) and thought it was pretty good.
