Awaaaah! Im doing pretty ok!!! Taking time to answer this as a wind down from Emerald Weapon Ex Brain Soupage. And I’m so glad! ;W; I think I butchered one of those “Get To Know An OC” thingies- uhh… oh [this one] actually! I chopped a lot out and I think added a couple different thingums instead because there was so much to that that it felt overwhelming to try to look at let alone fill out LOL but it was a really good jumping off point uvu;

And!!! Hilariously Chuu was my First XIV Character, so she’s dear to my heart for being the first one- but she very quickly made it known being the WOL even as an AU was something of a Joke (Her character showed great reluctance and even frustration at having to do So Much World Saving, maybe a side-effect of me rushing through MSQ to catch up with my other spouse [Who plays Talia, though they’ve got less time for XIV these days ;0;] and the rest of my friends who were all EndGame already at the time in Shadowbringers fhdjfjsjfs.) So I made…… many alts. Throwing spaghetti at the wall but I have SEVERE side-character/NPC brain and kept making “supporting cast” types =w=; it actually took me like. 3? Alts before making an ACTUAL WoL with my husband (Ishi’li and Kizuna) (as of Right Meow, they’re in post ARR, but we’ve been working on Keathan and Tuesday together because Keathan was… Keathan’s first character in xiv XD so we’ve been jaunting through the story together and experiencing every inch of it so we can pick and choose what The Boys™ get up to when we wanna focus on them x3)

🥰 I knew both speece during at least high school- but I actually knew Keathan as early as Elementary school hehe 😌 tho the speece didn’t proper marry until… i’unno, 2017? (For frustrating legal reasons, I’m not legally married, but. As it goes. Someday we’ll have money to visit the one state that has legal poly marriages. Also I struggle to remember our wedding year 🫢)

Since managing to make a Co-WoL with my husband I’ve managed to make one other Alt meant to be a Solo-WoL (Mochiie) but I have to really wrinkle my brain to sink time into playing him, since I’m trying to take screenshots throughout the story at what I find to be inspiring beats xD And even still he has an alt-universe where he’s just a side-character for the ‘Main Timeline’ (where there’s a bunch of spaghetti and like 8+ confirmed WoL’s and the Msq entourage looks HILARIOUS in canon, someday I’ll get all the data together and take pictures, but I think it’ll cook what’s left of my brain x’3) [it’s less concrete than anything I’ve posted about before or I’d try to explain it ;v;’ it’s just interesting mostly to see how the story gets stretched to fit around a larger community of heroes than a solo guy shouldering the whole burden lmfao.]

Leona

It was a typical day for Leona. You two were sitting in the lounge where most of the other students lingered, Leona becoming rather... possessive as of late. Instead of resting in his bedroom away from prying eyes as you had requested from your lover, he ignored all your feeble cries requesting privacy. Instead, he holds you in his lap without worrying what others are thinking. A form of showing others you were his, and his alone. You were conflicted in your feelings, staring at him. His eyes were closed, but he could feel your gaze burning into his head.

"How long are you-" Then it happened. You gave in. You gave his cheek a bit of a nibble. All of the sudden the chattering stopped, all eyes were on you, before they start patting Leonas back and giving him congrats while a few seemed to pull presents right out of their asses.

"Wha- what's going on?" Leona grumbled with a light blush before growling and pushing the face of someone who tried to hand him another gift.

"You all look like idiots! You know biting means something different to us. Don't be dumb." Okay, now you were extra confused. Seeing your utter ignorance, Leona sighed.

"Biting in our land is a sign of courtship, herbivore." ...Oh. You blush deeply and hide your face in his chest, Leona looking away flustered and ruffling your hair.

"Try again in a few years, and I just might bite you back."

Ruggie

You were walking down the halls with your boyfriend when suddenly you had the urge to just...bite him. an overwhelming sense of love and affection for the fact he had given you some of the bread he (probably legally) got ahold of. You smiled fondly at the bread and back at Ruggie before placing your mouth on the bulb of his shoulder, causing him to yelp in suprise and dropping his half of the bread.

"wha- huh?! What was that for?" He became flustered, bending over to pick up his bread and slowly move away from you with bright red cheeks. You furrowed your eyebrows and hugged yourself, almost embarrassed.

"I'm sorry, I just...I dunno," Your cryptic and non specific response left him with his jaw open and eyes wide, spluttering out things like "We're still in school! I don't have the funds yet-" before a familiar fist came and knocked the back of Ruggies head. Leona stood there smiling in amusement and chuckling at you.

"I don't think they know what that means to us beastman, Ruggie." Even more confused then before, you asked for clarification.

"You just asked him to marry you with that bite of yours, herbivore." Now YOUR mouth was wide open, and Ruggie managed to get flee from the scene without much notice from you nor his senior.

Oh brother. You have a lot of communicating to do with that one.

Jack

You were sitting at the lunch table eating away at your food when you noticed...Jack's biceps. You marveled at the sight of his bulky arms- it's a wonder to you how he managed to become so strong and have the motivation to train all day. With a burst of admiration, instead of biting into your sandwich - you took a bite into his muscle. He yelped in suprise and just stared at you, face slowly turning red. Ace and Deuce laughed at his reaction, ready to ask you what was up before Jack took it upon himself to... well, flustered and rapidly spit-firing plans.

"W-we are still so young! Are you sure about this? I-i never knew our relationship was at this level!" He grabbed both of your hands and looked you in your (bewildered) eyes.

"If you're serious about this, I promise I will protect and love you for the rest of my life. But before we go ahead with the ceremony, I want you to meet my parents and get their blessings. Oh, and I need to get a stable job after we finish school first, too, so I can support you and our future. know we haven't talked about marriage before but-" You quickly cut him off in astonishment before crying out,

"MARRIAGE?! Jack, WHAT are you talking about?! I am absolutely not ready for marriage! What got into you?!"

...Queue Ruggie and Leona hysterically laughing at your utter confusion, reveling in the ignorance of it all for a few moments longer before explaining properly what you had just committed yourself unknowingly to.

Malleus

You were laying in the bed of Malleus Draconias's dorm, scrolling on your phone whilst his tail wrapped around your waist as he sat next to you reading a book. You sighed lightly and leaned your head back against the board of the mattress, turning slightly to look at your handsome fae lover. Your eyes then went down to his pale and perfect skin of his neck, the way it was free from all blemishes, smooth, and bright. Something about it made you want to taint it a light shade of red... He felt you shuffle slightly to adjust your body to be in just the right position where his neck was in full view. He glanced over to you feeling you wriggle free from his tails grasp, tilting his head seeing the look in your eyes crazed as you leaned over and just...chomped down on his collarbone.

You felt his tail twitch and his hands quickly throw the book he was reading aside to grasp your wrists, turning your body around and pinning you to the bed and carrassing your cheek with his tail.

"Biting..." He murmured, "Does this mean the same to humans as it does to Fae? You wish to be wed?" Your jaw dropped and cheeks took on a rosey hue, stuttering over yourself.

"W-wed?! I mean, I like to bite when I feel affectionate b-but marriage...I mean maybe one day b-but-"

"Biting in Fae culture is a sign of courtship and ownership. How brazen of you to mark me," he chuckled, "I shall take it you wish to own the next king of Briar Valley?" You could tell at this point Malleus was teasing you, something he picked up from the time you two have been dating.

Malleus could not help but return the favor by riddling your body with his own bite marks. Although he understood you perhaps did not have the intention of marrying him with your silly little form of affection, he knew in his mind with every bite that he was very serious about your future with him.

Lilia

Lilia already knew that biting in the human world did not mean marriage, yet was akin to something more of "cute aggression." So when you have the habit of biting him in the privacy of yours or his room, he knows you simply meant it as a form of affection, letting him know that you had an overwhelming sense of love for the old fae. He bit you back consistently on many occasions, it just seemed to be the perfect form of showing love for one another.

You didn't actually know it meant something much deeper, until you were in the diasomnia lounge and unable to control yourself as you grabbed Lilias hand and bit down gently on his wrist. You couldn't help it, he was being so entirely silly and loving towards you, that you couldn't help but show this public display of affection. Much to everyone else's dismay, however. Sebek stares at you with his mouth agape, sounds of disbelief escaping past his lips yet a sentence unable to form. Malleus as well seemed surprised at this.

"(y/n)," Malleus said, "You wish to marry Lilia?" You coughed at the sudden question and let out a feeble and awkward chuckle.

"I mean...I wouldn't mind one day, of course. We haven't really talked about it. Why the sudden question?"

"HOW DARE YOU," Sebek cried out after finally finding his words, "How dare you bite Lilia and be so insolent as to not move forward with your actions in dignity! YOU MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR PROPOSAL-" Lilia started snickering, cutting Sebek off with a wave of his hand.

"It's quite alright, Sebek. Biting means something much different to humans than Fae, I suppose this is the first you had seen us put on a show of affection, hence your confusion." He turned to you, who had furrowed eyebrows and pursed lips at Sebeks sudden outburst.

"Biting, my dear, is a form of courtship to us fae. It is a sign of ownership," He chuckled.

"Why didn't you tell me that?!" You exasperated, "I mean, it wouldn't have changed anything I have done, but I would have been more careful about it... especially if it means something more to you," Lilia gracefully explained he understood it meant something slightly different to humans, before gently grabbing your hand and raising it to his mouth.

"Well, now that you understand what it means," He put your ring finger into his mouth and took a bite at the base,

"Would you like to bite me once more, my dear?"

Rook

You bit his arm and he immediately was on one knee.

"Was that a proposal? You know mon cheri, biting one affectionately is often a declaration of courtship-" You hit the top of his head and walked away from your interesting boyfriend.

"You're not a beastman or a fae! I'm never biting you again!" Your face red and folding your arms, turning away (ah, his cute tsundere lover.)

Oh woe is Rook! He begs and begs you to bite him more, he wants to be covered in your marks. It means you were claiming him as your own, right? RIGHT??

"But if what you're saying is true, doesn't simply having the newspaper, having access to that knowledge, negate the events entirely?" Scully posited in quiet challenge. "That paper, if it really is from the future, is from a timeline in which you never visited, never had access to that information, and therefore everything is already changed. The future isn't fixed, Dr Brown, it isn't immutable...it's constantly changing, responding to decisions we make in the present. It isn't some fixed destiny we're all heading towards."

It was one of the great discussions of theoretical time travel; how much could or couldn't be changed by someone hypothetically moving forwards or backwards in time. All timelines existed in a world pre-time travel or existed because of the time travel; it was a paradox of never knowing what was changed or what was already altered. Even if time travel did move from the theoretical to the practical, it didn't change the fact that the future was too unknown, too dependent on hundreds of thousands of small factors in the present, to ever really be certain. But Emmett Brown seemed to be of the opinion that not only was the future a fixed point, but that his own actions could be capable of directly changing it.

She was beginning to believe it would be exhausting to be in his mind; it was almost exhausting simply being in the room with him.

"Believe me, Doctor Brown, I have seen more than my fair share of cases which have challenged so much of what was thought to be known about this world, realities and discoveries that show us that the science we know only takes us but a distance towards the truth, but all that still requires evidence. Solid proof. What my partner usually begins with is an idea and an urban legend," she concluded with an affectionate exhaustion. She wouldn't change Mulder's way of seeing the world, but that didn't mean it didn't sometimes tire her.

The talk of time travel, however, a real, honest scientific discussion, with the thrilling possibility of something real and tangible, that it might actually be achieved, only energised her. As she listened to him describe the years and money it had taken, the effort towards his supposed success, Scully felt inside her the kind of eager excitement she'd had when researching her dissertation.

"But wouldn't the energy required be simply too much for the human body to handle?" Scully asked, already drawn in, unable to resist the temptation of something so scientifically astounding that any other breakthrough would pale by comparison. "Besides, every debate about time travel only hypothetically accepts the possibility to travel forward in time, not backward. To be able to travel not only into the future but into the past would require the--"

Scully's growing enthusiasm was cut off by Mulder's return, the door slamming a little against the wall.

"Let's go get your car," he announced with an eager grin, moving further into the room.

"They agreed we could take him out of custody?" Scully asked as Mulder took her hand and pulled her out of her seat effortlessly, the thrill of a time machine clearly making him feel more carefree than usual.

"What can I say? I'm charming and persuasive, Scully" he replied, looking down at her with a grin, before turning to the time travelling doctor. "Your car is still at the crash site. Apparently thinking you're an alien has made local law enforcement reluctant to get too close until it's been checked for radiation. I informed the sheriff that the FBI would be more than happy to help with that."

"That's how you got him to agree to taking doctor Brown out of custody," Scully realised aloud as she looked up at him.

"I simply offered our services," he replied with a knowing grin and Scully sighed, fast coming to the inevitable conclusion that this was a pointless battle. She turned to Emmett Brown, finding herself hoping he wasn't insane, realising that some small part of did desperately want this to be true, that they'd be driving out to look at an actual time machine. The more logical, cynical part of her brain however said to prepare herself for disappointment and to look at nothing more than the dangerous vehicle alterations of a mad man. She took a breath.

"I suppose this means you'd better come with us, Dr Brown."

As she passed Mulder on the way to the door, she put a finger at his chest pointedly. "But if this thing turns out to have radiation after all, you're on your own."

❝It's not the newspaper itself so much as it is the events published in the newspaper. What I found is the first in a series of increasingly unfortunate events for his family that results in him losing both of his children in the span of two days.❞ Just recalling the events makes him shudder. ❝I didn't have the heart to throw it out and the information about the event was extremely valuable, so I brought it back with me.❞

Emmett sighs heavily, hunching over in his seat from the sheer weight of the knowledge he should have never learned, yet knows he could never part with. ❝I learned a lot of disturbing information regarding the trajectory of his life and while I know I'll be able to fix that problem in the future, I can't guarantee anything I try to do will prevent the events that send him on this downward spiral.❞ It would be fixing a symptom, not the cause. And the cause is Marty's inability to maintain any sort of composure when being called a name—but if their proximity over the years hadn't taught him by now that an insult is just a weapon of the weak and only has power when given it—

He shakes his head. There may be no correcting that problem.

But if nothing else, he can spare the McFly twins a terrible tragedy. The sins of the father should not be passed on to the children and they deserve a fighting chance.

It doesn't take any sort of complex mental gymnastics for him to understand Agent Scully's scepticism the more he unveils about the night of the first temporal experiment. Sometimes, when he sits and thinks back on the individual events that not only led up to Marty's displacement, but that occurred during that paradoxically too-short and too-long week, it all seems unbelievable and he had lived it.

❝Accidentally,❞ he reiterates, placing heavy emphasis on the word. ❝He wasn't even supposed to be in the time machine that night. But there were❞—Emmett pauses, hesitating for a fraction of a second as the chill of fear cuts through him, draining some of the colour from his face—❝we were attacked.❞

❝I did the first thing I could think of. I told him to run while I got their attention and that's what he did. He got in the car and ran for his life. I know I disengaged the time circuits, but he must have activated them during his escape and didn't realise.❞

That's another problem I'll have to sort out once I get back. If they'll be looking for me... God, if they come after Marty—

Emmett clears his throat, unwilling to take a ride down that slippery slope right now. There's more than enough worry to be found seated right across from him, in the probing and expectant gaze of Agent Scully, in the uncertainty of his own fate, and at least this problem has a clear and tangible outcome for better or for worse: either Agent Mulder will return having secured his release or he is stuck here for the foreseeable future.

May I ask for some tips on designing characters? Yours are so cool!! ✨️✨️✨️

AA thank you so much! I’m not a professional really, but as a hobbyist.. I could give you some advices that have worked well for me \o/

Tip 1: Don't be afraid to experiment and try something new! Use and mix the most chaotic colors, combine the uncombinable, and just have fun

(this is my normal process of creating designs tbh.. I just don’t think about it a lot and draw everything the way I feel xD)

Tip 2: If you’ll be practicing making designs all the time, eventually you'll start to feel and understand which colors work well together and which don't. There are also some win-win color combos that always look good - for example, plain black/white with golden parts, or tropical colors (blue & orange & yellow & red & green), or brown palettes with rainbow shades, or black & white & grey & red, etc. I personally found my comfort in rainbow accents, gradients and vibrant colors 💛

Tip 3: Mix different themes! I really enjoy designing reptilian characters and mix them with absolutely any themes I could find :D For example:

plush & cactus & raptor

dinosaur & kidcore aesthetic

peacock & dragon & snake & constellations

raptor & bat & cow and… wooden raptor?😳

…and so on!

Find your own comfort species & themes and mix them with everything you want ^^

Tip 4: If you got no ideas yet, but still wanna design something, I highly recommend using Pinterest for inspiration! It contains a lot of great images/photos which can bring you tons of ideas (not only for characters designs, by the way). I also use it for clothes tutorials, poses references, and lightning/shading guides sometimes!

Tip 5: To improve your visual library, look at others’ characters and adoptables. Analyze what exactly you like about these designs - it can be some special color palette or other unusual choices. This will not only give you an understanding of which palettes and design elements go well together, but also allow you to discover your own favorite elements/details you can use in your own work!

That’s it! There's probably something else I forgot to say, but for now.. that's all my sleepy brain could remember at the moment <D

Currently(and always) obsessed with Donnie&Technodrome and will I force the canon events into my headcanons? Yes, yes I will xD

The Technodrome does have a mind of its own! Maybe its not as sapient as krang or humans, but there is still something!

And this something... liked Donnie.

At first Donnie had to just push his hands in and the Technodrome started connecting.

And then it gets an idea of Donnie and the connection with him.

This contact isn’t enough for both of them, probably Donnie not being krang and all.

And the Technodrome lets him go, because it knows Donnie was going to come back. From Donnie.

And now it reachs towards him and it welcomes him in. Welcomes him back.

After this it’s not just Donnie anymore.

Mind you, this is Donnie inside and this is Donnie outside.

It’s them now. It’s Donnie AND Technodrome. They are excited! They see themselves as perfection!!

But it was still so new and they were distracted even after dealing with krang Brother. They didn’t notice the Prime.

Who can still access the control over Technodrome.

And yet with this and his strength he still struggled with getting Donnie out. Not with one swift move. Donnie was holding, Technodrome was holding. They both screamed in pain from forced separation, their minds ripping apart.

The krang are controling the ship from the outside, like a tool. Donnie became one with it. This is different, they were connected in a way that never happened before.

The color changed too. When Krang are controling the ship, it’s blue, the color of Technodrome’s brain. It was being ordered around.

When Donnie connects to it, it’s purple, Donnie is joining in.

This I drew when I was very sad. Freddy loves you no matter what. And Fronnie is cute to the heavens and back

Some design points for Freddy:

Round. If Monty and Bonny look super fit and buff, he is rounder, almost soft looking

BEANS ON HANDS. Must have soft beans. Probably made with fabric not leather

Most of the games posters have his teeth be round almost like hippocampus teeth. NOT HERE. SHARP. TEETH. BITE.

He and Bonnie both have oval shapes etched into his snout. I think it was on the posters to be like a little nodge to a dots that animals have from where whiskers are growing but I like the idea of them actually having them on and also not to be just a paintjob but like actual small indents

Also I am debating so much on hands for all animatronics. I like three fingers but also five fingers look good??? I will def make them different length and more organic shaped for suuuuure.

I think that might’ve been a typo of sorts and you meant “bugs” instead of birds? Black widows are arachnids, though the categories do get mixed together quite frequently. Random fun fact since you mentioned spiders, but did you know that the Harvestmen or “daddy longleg” spiders aren’t really spiders? They’re actually very closely related to scorpions, which technically speaking are in the arachnid family, but their appearance makes people mistake them as spiders despite them lacking the glands to make webbing! OwO

Wanted to share since, despite me being scared of spiders, am also strongly fascinated by them!..just not enough to actually handle them or be within five feet of one. ^^;

Anyway, back to the matter at hand: Monster AU. It’s so hilarious imagining just how out of context so many things would be in this AU! Even more so when the researchers are completely unaware of what’s happening so they can either study or explain it away! 😂

Now, that’s not to say that they’ll see every gesture and movement as flirtatious or as a courtship display. After all, when you’re surrounded by so many different species living together? It probably took a while before the monsters figured out that their neighbor was just greeting them normally and not trying to flirt or insult them and that it was just how that monster species typically greets others. Progress at least! However, if Yuu (regardless of gender) were to keep making repetitive movements while dancing and giving one of the monsters a playful or (to the boys) seductive look?

Hoo boy, watch out Yuu: you’ll wind up getting courted back! Even worse if more than one tries to challenge each other to claim the boyfriend title. 😅

Now that I think about it, I’d imagine that the older monsters/staff/researchers would be less likely to think that what Yuu was doing was a courtship dance. After all, they’ve been around long enough to know the difference between pure instinctual courtship behaviors and just someone who is either dancing or “moving erratically”. My sketch for Vore Day ended up being fanart instead of OC stuff, so nothing new to share on this blog. To make up for it, here's an older animation of Lou in "beast mode" savoring the struggles of a feisty meal. Even through the "brain fog" of his feral state, he seems to be enjoying himself veeeeeery much…

No idea why I didn't give him clothes. I'm sticking with the explanation he probably took them off so he wouldn't ruin them during his transformation.

I made this using the Timeline function in Photoshop. It is a VERY clunky way to animate, so I'll probably invest in a different software for this kinda thing. I put WAY more effort into this than I really needed to, but I am quite happy with how it turned out, so that's a win. XD.

Ep 8 Thoughts and Details Part 2

As much as this entire scene was tense about Uzi eating the AS and becoming fused with it- this frame, this facking frame killed me XD Just the D: WHAT ARE YOU DOING- WHY DID YOU DO THAT- I could hear it clearly XD

Could probably be me looking too far into it, but another call back from Liam's first teaser of Murder Drones.

As many people as I have seen being upset with how this reunion turned out to be, I found it adorable and funny. Khan has no idea what that thing even is. And the fact that Nori isn't as cool and serious as she was made out to be in all of the flashback scenes and ep7 is that much more endearing. The angsty side of her is still there, much like Uzi's personality of not really liking close heart to heart moments.

God forbid I love this trio. They've been through so much and still came out victorious after fighting a whole ass eldritch being capable of eating planets. V still V but softer and kinder, N still N but more willing to stand up for himself, and Uzi still Uzi and angsty rebellious teen that has an awesome new eye style and friends and family.

You know, I had a silly thought. I wouldn't even be mad that this is how Murder Drones came to be. That Liam's idea of Murder Drones started with the reveal of Cynessa entity and then worked backwards from there- creating the characters to surround the event instead of starting with say Uzi's personality, etc.

Overall, I genuinely loved the entire episode and, of course, the series. I'm eternally grateful for Liam creating this masterpiece and for every person that took part in creating Murder Drones. This show was the hyperfixation I needed, the thing that I've craved since being in the fandom that I had been for the longest time prior. I'm sad to see this show end so soon, but all great things must come to an end. And I'm glad I was here to see it, even if I was here since ep6 only TwT Either way, I will be haunting this fandom with my presence for a little longer while. Many projects I want to see happen, comics I wish to share, and friends I wish to meet. Until then, see you later >:P

IWTV S2 Ep1 Musings - Daciana: History through Visual Context in Ploiești, Romania

I immediately fell in love with The Vampire Daciana & her Romanian castle, and wanted to know more about it all.

We already know how much the set/costume designers on IWTV looooove attention to detail; they tell whole stories just through architecture, furniture, clothes, etc. So I was like OK, AMC, I see you; lemme start doing some reading up on Romania, so I can try to figure out what might be going on with Daciana. (Warning: I know eff all about Romania or Eastern Europe.)

ROMANIA

Map of Romania. Ploiești's the dot just under Muntenia, north of Bucharest, the capital. Ploiești's part of Wallachia, the IRL kingdom of Vlad Tepes (aka Dracula). Louis & Claudia went there in the 1940s, so I hope this map is accurate enough. (There's this map, but I dunno the date.)

DACIANA

The most obvious thing about her is that she's not dressed in the typical traditional Romanian folk clothing I see all over Google, full of white-red-blue/black palettes.

Daciana's not following traditional 19th/20th-century Romanian nationalist images. Her green/brown palette & silhouette is telling, as she lacks the puffy white blouses & dark skirts. (Despite her name, I'm ruling out her being Dacian (X X)--you think you're FUNNY, AMC! But IDK about Cezare Romulo (X X); might do a Pt2!)

Sleeves

First thing's her trailing slashed open sleeves, which were screaming Medieval! at me. Here's some 15th century Renaissance examples, but with surcoats, which is different, but the sleeves reminded me of hers so IDFK.

We could chalk this up to Daciana's design as just generic "medieval" fairytale stuff and keep it moving. But to give her a fair shake, I looked at local examples for anything similar that's more recent.

Traditional clothing from Huedin, Romania (north Transylvania), (X X).

Traditional clothing from Cluj, Romania (north Transylvania).

Keep Transylvanian/Muntenian cross-cultural contacts in mind when we get to Daciana's castle, cuz it's important!

Wrt rarer non-puffy sleeves, the square cut (light blue) seems to be more prevalent in Wallachia/Moldavia/Bessarabia (southern & eastern Romania); while the rectangular cut (dark green) is all over Romania, but definitely has a concentration in Wallachia & Moldavia.

And this makes sense, cuz the style seems to also be prevalent in 19th - 20th century Bulgaria, just south of Wallachia. Hrm....

Daciana's sleeves hang very long--the only example of super long sleeves I could find is a 19th century one at the Met (C.I.47.3.4a–d). The only example of slashed sleeves I could find is in this museum exhibit at Bran Castle (yes, THE Bran Castle--I'll get to it in a minute!)

Belt, Bodice, & Fabric

Daciana's belt is so plain compared to everything else. Is it supposed to be a leather Romanian chimir (worn by mountain/forest folk)? Those are only worn by men though? Or it depends? Or is it a just a plain cloth belt? It's reminding me of these examples (X X):

I wish I could see more of Daciana's bodice, if there's any particular kind of cut or patterns. Is the diamond netted/knotted/roped pattern on her arms significant? Her fabric is interesting, too:

What's this embroidery? Brocade? (Byzantine-Renaissance?) Damask? (c. 14th-16th century?) Lace? Something else? My brain wants to assume it's imported? Meaning: she's hella rich. Cuz like, the traditional Romanian blouse & skirt used to belong solely to peasants, b4 19th-20th century aristocrats started wearing it, too.

IDKY--more reading led me to a whole bunch of complicated stuff, that can probably be simplified by just saying: The Ottomans. XD

The pre-19th century Romanian aristocracy wore super opulent clothes, inspired by not just the Ottomans (X), but also the Byzantine Greeks (via 18th century Romanian Phanariote boyars (X X X)), etc. But aside from the hanging sleeves, Daciana's dress doesn't really resemble any of these foreign examples. However, it does track with my theory that Daciana predates the 19th-century Romanian nationalist/traditional clothes that became so iconic later on.

Like Louis & Claudia did, let's follow Daciana to her castle! ^0^

DACIANA'S CASTLE

I NEED to know if AMC filmed on location in Romania, or if Daciana's castle is just a studio set/green screen.

The interior's nowhere near what I expected, considering Daciana's haggard appearance. It's really nice--clean & tidy. No spiderwebs, no chipped plaster/paint, not even any bloodstains--but I've mentioned before that I think it's indicating that Daciana's a mother who takes better care of her home (and "child") than herself.

Archway

The first thing is the arch when they first come in (noticeable mostly cuz of how Louis had to bend down to get in, he's so tall).

These types of doors/arches are called "shouldered arches," dating from the Medieval-Gothic periods, which Europeans adapted from Islamic architecture during the medieval Crusades. (Examples inc. Lainici Monastery in Wallachia, and the Academy of Art in Cluj-Napoca (north Transylvania).)

The left pic's Biertan Fortified Church, in Sibiu (south Transylvania). (Another door.) The right pic's Bran Castle, in Brasov (south Transylvania). (Another door.) (Vlad Tepes/Dracula historically never owned this castle, but pop culture says otherwise.) Both places were built by the German/Saxon Transylvanians in the 14th-16th centuries; which might help date Daciana's castle, if not Daciana herself? (The Saxon Transylvanians were in Wallachia, too.)

Wall Ornamentation

The last thing I'll discuss is the wall ornamentation/decoration:

The painted floral trim everywhere instantly reminded me of The Witcher 3, as found in Hungarian, Polish, Ukranian etc buildings. Apparently the designs are all related to fertility, growth/luck, and the Tree of Life. Walls (X X X) and doors (X X) were painted. You can see northern Romanian painted ornamentation in Suceava (Bukovina).

There's painted wall designs in southern Romania, too.

"The research of the popular interior in the Argeş and Muscel areas leads to the determination, along with a local specificity, and some Transylvanian influences, in the contact areas between southern Transylvania and northern Muntenia. In the researched areas, two lines of development of the popular interior can be observed, one relatively simple and the other complex. If the first is the prerogative of a typical Subcarpathian interior, the second represents a distinctly Transylvanian form, which was also imposed due to the presence of the Transylvanian population in the south of the Carpathians, settled in numerous villages." -- (Google Translated from Arta populară din zonele Argeș și Muscel, 1967)

(The website RomaniaDacia has A LOT to say about Transylvania, and the impact of the Germans, Saxons, Hungarians, etc on Wallachia & the rest of Romania.)

Sure enough, I was finding way more carved ornamentation (X X X X X X) than painted ones.

But I wonder if that's why a lot of southern traditional Romanian interiors I've been finding have totally plain whitewashed walls, too, with no painted ornaments, just tapestries (X X). I did find Romanian interior floral wall painted trims (X), but not nearly as much.

Cuz actually, the closest comparanda I was finding for Daciana was Northern European rosemaling (X X), which is also giving me medieval vibes (X); specifically: trims on illuminated manuscripts like the Book of Hours (X X X)--which we know from Lestat in S01E06.

And we do see some Romanian medieval fresco borders & frescoes that had been plastered over & whitewashed, in Biertan's 15th century churches, and in 13th-15th century Darjiu (Transylvania).

So, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Romanian buildings (especially castles with whitewashed plastered walls) were formerly painted similar to Daciana's. Unfortunately, I just can't find an example or figure out what AMC might've been inspired by--Romania has hundreds of castles & churches.

So, I'm tapping out--this is the most I could find so far. U_U

Results? Inconclusive! 😭 My Google-fu has failed me, LOL!

I still have no idea what time period Daciana could be from. We could go several routes:

Go by her name, and say she's ooooold AF, an actual Dacian. She's just been collating Eastern European culture as she ages, but stopped at some point (as her mind deteriorated)

She's medieval, somewhere roundabouts the 14th-16th century (making her ~500 years old, the same age as Armand--but she's weaker (as I've theorized b4), which is why she was able to burn herself up.)

Settle on her being a local Wallachian from Southern Romania, likely pre-19th century / pre-industrial early-modern Europe

Handwave everything aside as Renn-Faire fairytale fantasy; let the tale seduce you~!

OR, we can just bully AMC until they give us an extended BTS look at how Daciana was conceptualized, telling us all the tea about her! 😈

I don't give clear spoilers from the S2 but read the next with precautions (I imply things but I prefer giving the warning. I hate spoilers so I try to avoid it to others even if with the S2 my brain was impatient XD).

Little AU (another after the swap comic XD) where they have met in childhood. They both share the same origin story but one day they just met randomly when Viktor played with his boat (probably just after meeting Singed because I drew an healthy Rio).

The timeline changed her direction to a long-time friendship where they shared every steps of their life. I drew Rio with them but infortunately she had the same fate (I swear I keep the main scenario because I didn't find how to save her. If I find something I'd change the description ! XD Maybe bringing her back with some Hextech magic, even if that implies she is white/gold if you know what I mean lol).

They did their studies together and created te Hexgems. The main difference : they've never created the unstable ones that destroyed the appartment (because Viktor was already here "to crank it") but they also never dared to talk about them. So when the group stole them they both ended up in trial for creating the Hexgems. But Mel saved them both and their part of the story is the same (except the fact that Viktor being put under the spotlight gave him a Councilor place too. He enjoyed that like an introvert in front of a full theatre xD).

For the Zaunist side, and because the Hexgems are stable, they didn't create the deadly huge explosion. Milo finished to free Vander, Claggor created the wall hole and everybody escaped. Even Powder who were already outside, she didn't fly with the explosion like in the original.

BUT

Silco took the Hexgems and started to create weapon with them + the Shimmer.

So yes, Jayce and Viktor are in trouble because they have to create the Hexgates and trying to keep peace. Luckily Victor is the one trying to find peace with Silco. And Vander helped a lot with a certain heartbreaking piece of paper (I'm still crying all the water I drunk in a week everytime I read it ! And !spoiler for the artbook! having the artbook with that letter in it is not helping ! XD)

And because I really love (in a painful, tearful, brain-eating, obsessive, and highly passionate way) what happened to my precious Vitya in the next season, I guess they found peace and gave independance to Zaun but a certain someone set the Council room in fire to start again the hatred (probably a dangerous woman in red who already prouved that she can plot horrible plans !). So Silco is alive but we still have the S2 (yes even the absolute horrific end of the episode 6. Seriously, even after knowing what/why/all the things and reasons, fuck you still, Jayce).

So this is how I fixed the utopic timeline of the episode 7 (not gonna lie guys but I was absolutly not a fan of this moment when I saw it for the first time. For me Arcane was "impossible to give me joy" "this is probably some kind of Arcane bad trip and they are in reality in some kind of deadly nightmare" "everything is fake", I was super suspicious so I did'nt enjoy it like I should have do xD But now I'm fine with that even if a lot of things are illogic, but it's still beautiful to enjoyer peace and love).

Anyway, more Jayvik incoming because they are the biggest brainroat I've ever had in my damn life. Viktor really set my mind in pieces and I don't recover from it. But I forgive him because it's Viktor <3

I'm so salty I had to cover up Taliesin's amazing outfit, so in the second picture I'm planning on him being more in view so you can see his clothes.

2. You'll notice that most eyes are on Mandragora in the image, because Mandragora is the more chaotic child of the family. Wanting to stand on Nebarra's back for the picture was a last minute thing, which is why most are looking at him.

3. The only two people looking towards the 'camera' are Taliesin and Aidewynn. This is because Aidewynn is a very comely and quiet child. He was told to look at the camera for the picture, so he simply does so without getting distracted, understanding this is a family photo. Taliesin is looking at the camera because its a family photo as well, but also because he wants the moment to be captured, the joy he's feeling at having such a big group of people love him.

4. This idea of Taliesin's happiness and love for his family is continued when he puts his hands on Mandragora's cheek, holding it lovingly as a statement that he views Mandragora just as much as his own son as he views his own daughter Nereid. He's also holding Nereid's hand because he just wants to touch her he's so happy. >w< like, "LOOK AT THIS, THIS IS MY CHILD!!"

5. For a while I've been drawing Nebarra with white sclera even though that's non-existent in pureblood Altmer biology as far as I know. But it occured to me that Aidenwynn has his father's eyes so I finally had to start giving Nebarra yellow eyes bc it would look weird for Aidewynn to have yellow eyes and Nebarra not to.

6. Finally got all the marriage earrings on display! As well as Tali's and Nebarra's wedding rings! Well, minus Snow White/Lorkir, but she never wore the marital earrings, the men did that as a sort of collective joke.

7. I literally had no idea what to put Nereid in. I sort of just figured it out as I went along.

8. I always end up getting so self concious about when I draw Snow's tits. Because I draw them, and then I worry they're too small. So I make them bigger. This is probably why her breast size has been sliiiiightly varied (not that I think anyone notices lol XD). I'm not trying to make her breasts like...disproportionately large, but they have to be big enough to where I find it funny.

9. Nebarra wasn't planning on grabbing Snow's leg but he ended up needing to for balance and he decided 'screw it my hand is already here' and he moved it up to her thigh to see if he could get a reaction out of her and she's gonna kill him for it later.

10. BUT Snow White's not that innocent either because the arm that you can't see is behind Teldryn Sero grabbing his ass.

11. Aidewynn is half hagraven which is why his eyes look like that. He doesn't learn to cast an illusion spell to cover up his eyes until he's about 15.

12. Aidewynn is about 6 years old in this pic, he didn't stop sucking his thumb until he was 7.

13. It irritates me on a personal level that I can't show more of Nebarra's war scars, as they are unfortunately covered up by clothing. Many people have different interpretations of Nebarra, and how I show off MY interpretation of him are the scars he wears.

14. Mandragora has blue eyes because Snow White's eye color is still blue, even AFTER she becomes a God, its just she's so powerful her power shines through her eyes which is why you can't see her natural born eye color. However, in terms of appearance that's the only trait Mandragora has from his mom. That and the highest concentration of dragon blood.

15. Nereid's eyes also have this 'power' effect since she has the strongest magic in the family. Hence why you also can't see her natural born eye color, which is actually NEBARRA'S eye color, greyish-blue. (giving birth to children in a fake mortal body you grew in a test tube is not an exact science).

16. I swear I just forgot how to draw braids.

i have a massive Human au which i still dont have a name for yet smh- which is very crime, mystery and horror related, the romance comes as a thing that happens during the story- which has a lot of ships that yall probably have seen @keebokuun draw some of uwu basically Uzi is a semi-handicapped girl in the future year of 2371- who in searching for the mystery behind her mothers death, gets stuck in a story way bigger than herself.

i have an Unsolver au in which the solver is just simply a super advanced AI with a sense of indeviduality and the horrors basically just dont happen. Cyn gets to grow as a host, Tessa becomes the head of the mechanical maintanance devision in JCJ, and the disassembler drones are transformed willingly without any gore or beheading lmao. the purpose and plot of the story is something different from the original show, but they eventually do meet Uzi and the others later. its just that the story is a bit extra sunshine and rainbows just cuz i want the characters to have a good ending 😭

Theres the Exorsists au which i posted about a while back :"3 - though this and the Unsolver au are pretty recent and im not sure where to go with them yet, or if i ever will lol but they are fun to think about uwu

Clarice is nonverbal due to her past trauma. She eventually learns sign language, but that's after the events of the book :)

Omar's last name is Weisz, like his mother. Maggie's is probably Smith, as she was named by the government. We didn't really come up with last names for the others though, since they never used them in the Playroom.

#4 Can all the malkins turn into cats, or is it only cat sith?? (Google refuses to tell me) In our story Cat Sith is the only one who can turn into a cat. The others have the ability to teleport through shadows.
