So! Wandering Castle, what a fucking novel. I first read a relatively okay (somewhat rough) fan translation of it a year ago, and it had me FLOORED. Layton gets stabbed a few times in this one, there's fights over uranium and Scottish(?) (Northland-ish) folklore, and many, many shitty people I think Tumblr would love.

The scene of the silver knight impaling Layton in the arm, only for him to get back on his feet and keep fighting despite, is one that gripped me by the throat. He also... spends the rest of the novel with a gaping bloody sword wound in his arm just. casually. because why even bother when you're too busy dealing with some sick little bastard putting you through these shitty trials. Luke threatens to kill everyone via. murder-suicide electrocution in one beat and I was absolutely stunned. Wild fucking novel. It goes from 1 to 100 very very quickly. It's like if you took the batshittery of the original trilogy, and amped it up in intensity because now they're allowed blood, serious injury and mild bad language. Seriously recommend finding translations if you can.

this might just be how i interpreted the submarine and the final chapter scene, but i really like how observant yomiel is and how it looks like he’s trying to draw out a discussion/conversation from the team lol.

and it makes even more sense given this guy was deprived of so much social interaction during the 10 years and even possibly pre-game (“can’t” return to family, wishing “to grow old in a society that would accept him” made it seem like he was shunned out, fiansissel being someone all he had seems like he probably didn’t have friends either especially bc he had no one to go back to during those years, he tried using his powers for good but didn’t help much -> therefore more isolation)

of course he’d do this. he’s taking his chances. he has so many thoughts he needs to share. you WILL hear it and he wants to hear what you think, ok?

First of all, I want to say that everyone is incredible in Ossan's Love Th, but I am SO obsessed with Earth's performance.

I knew he could do comedy because I watched Mama Gogo recently and was also obsessed with his performance there. (I also maintain he was very funny in Cupid's Last Wish in some scenes.) And I knew he's great at ~drama and emotional scenes because of everything else. But, somehow, I still wasn't prepared for how obsessed I'd be?

The way he makes himself smaller but not meek. The way Heng is constantly brimming with (often) nervous energy and so the contrast when he's not (like the rooftop scene with Mo) is so effective. His facial expressions, which range from laugh-out-loud silly and goofy to painfully sincere, but the shift is never jarring. The way you can see him falling for Mo, how drawn he is to him, even if he's not fully aware of his feelings. Not to mention the physical comedy that has me rolling every week!

And he's bringing out the kindness and sweetness that I loved about Haruta in Heng so well too! Haruta was such a lovable character because he can be selfish, but he's also incredibly kind, and Earth is treading that balance so well.

Tbh I always lowkey worry posts like this sound condescending in some way. It's not that I ever doubted he'd be great, but what I love is that I knew he'd be amazing, and I'm still blown away every week
