"ohh thorin trusts Bilbo above his own family and kin because he just loves him sooo much because I think romantic love is superior to any other form of love" or maybe it was he was experiencing a severe episode of paranoid psychosis and he implicitly trusted Bilbo because he was the only person in the Company who didn't have any preexisting, longstanding loyalities to him (as a King or brother-in-arms or Family or otherwise) and followed him purely out his own desire to and he saw Bilbo stay by his side even after his contract had ended even though he knew how much he wanted to go home (and had every reason to at that point). maybe it was because he knew Bilbo would had nothing to gain by betraying him (re: no birthright to the crown, no desire for riches or property, etc). Maybe he believed he could confide into Bilbo because he felt like he wasn't responsible for his safety in the same way he felt responsible for his nephews or his kin (as their King), and he no longer need to mantain any sort of formalities or barriers with him (because Thorin is not. his. King).

sorry I just refuse to believe Thorin doesn't love his nephews as much as he loves Bilbo (someone who he'd only known for 6~ months at that point) and I think there's a lot of better ways to explain his behavior here

what is it with trigun anime adaptations and having to dehumanise knives in order for him to be evil ,,

in tri98 hes just sorta not given much reason to be evil - yes he was verbally and at points physically abused by one member of the crew but not enough of that is shown for the big fall to feel justifiable . he just sorta went off the rails with very little reason to imo , although i cant really blame the show for this as the Tragic Childhood vol of trimax wasnt out yet so they had quite little material to work from

HOWEVER in tristamp they decided on this weird plot of him physically being ‘less human’ like he doesnt need to eat to survive , and personality wise seems very unconcerned with humans . a lot of the tristamp interpretations of the characters differ significantly from their maximum counterparts but this way of portraying knives as well as how his arrogance and superiority beliefs are portrayed … kinda makes my skin crawl . i just really dont know why they did this - a character doesnt have to be ‘not human’ to be evil , and i felt like it ruined knives’ character quite a lot because trimax knives is so different

trigun maximum shows that knives as a child was extremely nervous about being accepted by humans and even shows him crying from relief and happiness after he meets a human other than rem for the first time and he almost instantly accepts him . knives’ character is so interesting in trimax because he was SO caring as a child and that changed drastically because of the trauma he was put through , you definitely feel more of the impact of the tesla incident in maximum

and although knives IS non human , he takes a very human perspective on things , he feels very human emotions . hatred is an inherently human thing . evil is an inherently human thing . a character doesnt need to have inhuman emotions to hate humanity and this is where the anime adaptations miss the mark on knives’ character because they reinforce the idea that he needs to be MORE alien in order to hate humanity

Ghost doesn't have a soulmate. So when people ask – of course they do. After all, who wouldn't want to know his ( ❝ You got a mark? ❞ ). He answers accordingly – an abrasive comment that he's repeated so many times over the years, it comes out easily, indifferently, but is disheartening to hear for anybody who makes the mistake of trying to pry the information out of him.

Every inch of his body's been catalogued, he says; no black-and-white evidence of a symbol or a word anywhere that's tying him to a specific person. And why would he want that? To be cosmically bound to someone he's never even met? It's bullshit: only feeds the idea of a clockwork universe where free will is an illusion.

You don't bring up then, how your mark matches the one he keeps hidden somewhere in the tattoo sleeve on his left arm.

Leon's immortality predates the Cup of Life, y'all. he's just Like That

I'm assuming people have probably talked abt this already but if they have, I haven't seen it (i'm relatively new here), so I'm bringing it up myself lol.

(It's important to note here that in the end credits starting from s2e2, Rupert Young has always been referred to as playing Sir Leon, so it is the same character.)

Remember s2e13 The Last Dragonlord, when Arthur asks his knights who among them are willing to ride out with him to fight this big-ass dragon, and Leon is the first to volunteer? And they then show Leon, with Arthur and the others, as they ride out to fight Kilgharrah in that weird-ass square field?

...And then Kilgharrah one-shots literally everyone except for Arthur & Merlin???? And when the two return, they're just like, "yeah all the other knights died valiantly defending the kingdom, very sad" ???????

Personally, I believe this only leaves us with two (2) options:

The writers just straight up Forgot (or maybe ignored) that Leon was one of the knights that died, and just kept writing him in bc he was a well-liked character,

Or,

2. They're therefore implying that, canonically, when Arthur&Merlin got back to Camelot and said that all the knights were dead, they were just straight-up wrong. Which means that Leon had to just... find his own way home, I guess, after having been freshly charbroiled by a fucking dragon.

Merthur: None of the other knights made it, even Leon :(

The wiki says that "many believed he'd been killed" when he "was injured by the great dragon," but that "this was ultimately disproven by his return in Series 3"...

...which I believe falls squarely into #2 listed above lmao. He wasn't dead, just injured. They just fucking left him there.

Anyway if anyone wants to know what I did this weekend I tested for my black belt in karate and then laid down for the entire rest of sat-sun bc my body hurt so bad (while periodically happy crying bc I couldn't believe I'd finally done it)

just remembered that my old gp heard my resting heart rate (which was like abt hypertension at ease, mind u I was like 20) and was like whoa buddy we gotta fix that so you don't have to be medicated for the rest of your life. you should move around more. and I was like but sir I work 5 days a week where I'm on my feet for 12+ hours a day, i don't think I can move around more than I already do. and he was like hm. well you're still fat so do more.

which is nuts to me bc it's y'know 7 years later and my resting heart rate is totally normal now. mind you I'm still fat and move around WAY less than I used to. bc it wasn't a fat problem making my heart do that. 🙄
