If you guys are gonna buy one thing during the steam summer sale make it Dave the Diver.
The best word to describe this game is delightful. Catch fish with your spear gun during the day and run a sushi restaurant at night, and discover the secrets of the magical blue hole you dive in where every species of fish is present and the geography is changing everyday. There's combat, there's collection, there's a great story line, there's farming, there's fish farming, there's minigames, the animation and art and music are fantastic. It's GENUINELY fun, and genuinely funny. I've played it for 60 hours and I'm not done the main story line yet. Oh did I mention it's $20? And it's on sale for less?

all nine of the stretch goal designs for this campaign - I am not sure how many goals we will be able to reach but there will come a point where I won't be able to do any more goals unless I get fulfillment help, so we'll see if it gets to that point and if I can get help! below the cut are the names, info, and artist statements for each plushie! I may end up changing the names as I am still not sure about ash, sandy, kelly, and luca, but let me know if you like them!
Tristan The Depression Raccoon: Tristan’s plushie will come with a removable hoodie accessory! He loves cozy video games like animal crossing and stardew valley. There are not many widely used symbols for depression that I could find, so I chose Tristan's colors based on how my depression makes me feel, bruised and cold.
Ash the Anxiety Bunny Moth: Ash’s plushie will have fluffy moth antennae and removable magnetic wings similar to Bug’s plush! They love to visit the home depot lights section when their friends are with them! I chose gray and yellow for the main body colors because my anxiety personally deals with uncertainty and things out of my control. The green comes from one of the anxiety flags created by Beyond MOGAI. To add moth features was a suggestion I got that I thought fit very well!!
Sandy the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Kitty: Sandy is an artist and loves to draw and paint landscapes! Her wings will be attached via magnet, similar to Bug’s wings. The colors of her design are based on the OCD flag created by lucellion, with spirals in her paws to represent repetitive thought processes.
Melon the Sensory Processing Disorder Opossum: Melon is a silly opossum who has bat wings! Melon’s wings will be attached via magnet, similar to Bug’s wings. Melon’s colors are inspired by the SPD pride flag created by Beyond MOGAI.
Jazz the Borderline Personality Disorder Kitty: Jazz is a tortoiseshell kitty that loves to read!! Jazz’s plush will come with a pvc charm of the hand of Eris symbol for you to put on xer collar if you choose! The colors are loosely based on the BPD flag created with community input by ptsdsafe on tumblr.
Kelly the Schizospec Axolotl: kelly is an axolotl who is studying chemistry and loves science! kelly’s design is inspired by the Schizospec flag, created with community input and organized by schizosupport on tumblr. They will have a collar tag once again made of PVC featuring the associated double sided arrow symbol.
Em the Bipolar Disorder Chimera: Em is a chimera kitty who has dragon wings and a snake tail! One side of the snake tail is smiling, the other frowning. This takes inspiration from the :): symbol often associated with Bipolar disorder.
Cy the Irritable Bowel Syndrome Otter: Cy is a happy little otter griffin! They love to sculpt and craft and sew! Cy’s color pallet is based on the assortment of medications I take for my own IBS symptoms.
Luca the Dyslexia Fox: Luca is a dancer and loves to perform! Their design and colors are loosely based on the infinity heart+ moon and star symbol that is often found on dyslexia flags. they will have L and R embroidered on their paws, which was a suggestion I was given.
#tristan the depression racoon#audhd creatures#ash the anxiety moth bunny#sandy the ocd kitty#melon the spd opossum bat#Jazz the BPD kitty#kelly the schizospec axolotl#em the bipolar disorder chimera#cy the IBS otter griffin#luca the dyslexia fox#part of my concern with naming is that when it comes to a collection in order to make fulfillment easier on myself I like to choose names#that mostly have different letters to start. because. I will read the first letter of a name and then go off of that which has led to#many people getting sprinkles instead of scarlet or beau instead of beans ToT#so we have ash - bug - critter - cy (the one repeat) - dash - em - jazz - kelly - luca - melon - tristan#cy i think is different enough from critter because it is only two letters so if I confuse cy for critter. that's. well. i hope i won't

hi!! your headcanons are so fun to read through ,, whenever i see your stuff pop up on my feed it makes me so excited and happy!!!! :D also if you dont mind, do you have any headcanon ideas for any video game series each pt character likes or games each character might like to play in general?
Aaah, thank you!!!!
I'm so glad people like my headcanons!
I did something similar to this with what computer games they play, but I can do this one with a bit different games, too!
What games do they like?
Peppino: Canonically not a fan of TF2, so I feel like he wouldn't like shooter games. I can see him enjoying relaxing games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. Doesn't play them all too much.
Gustavo: Loves fantasy and adventure! Would definitely play DnD and World of Warcraft. I can also see him playing Animal Crossing.
BONUS Brick: Loves tug of war. Plays it often with Fakey. Too lazy to play fetch. You throw the thing, and he just looks at you. Loves to play with Gustavo's shoes. Gustavo can never catch him as he runs away with the shoe.
Mr. Stick: Not really a digital guy. Plays a lot of card games. Solitare, poker, blackjack, etc. Has a low-key gambling addiction. Likes to go to casinos and play the slots. Loses.
Pepperman: Hear me out on this one. Mario Paint. I know it's not necessarily a game, but he'd probably have a blast playing with all the tools and gimmicks it has. Would probably paint his face over the Mona Lisa and say it was his original piece.
The Vigilante: Another guy who isn't too digital. Total boomer when it comes to technology. I see him being GOOD at card games. He plays with Mr. Stick a bit. He beats Stick, and Stick storms out in a fuss. Probably plays horseshoes or something boring.
The Noise: Will play just about anything and everything. I stated this before, but I think his rat ass would LOVE the GTA series, probably even RDR, too. I can see him playing CoD and CS:GO. He's unnervingly good at first person shooters. Also loves Minecraft. (Secretly enjoys Animal Crossing.)
Noisette: Definitely a Sims girly with all the expansion packs as well as tons of custom content. She loves Animal Crossing and has the entire series. Surprisingly enough, she's also good at first person shooters, she also enjoys GTA (but not half as much as The Noise.) I can see her playing Minecraft, only to build a super cute base.
Fake Peppino: Likes Dance Dance Revolution as well as the Just Dance games! He likes to move his body. He also likes to play fetch and tug of war. He's learning how to play checkers, but he's really bad at it. He doesn't care, though, he's having fun.
Pizzahead: Probably another Sims player. Definitely has a Peppino sim. I see him as a Mario fan, having played most of the games. Probably LOVED Super Mario Odyssey. Also another fan of first person shooters. Obsessed with Fortnite. Does the emotes to piss people off. Plays Animal Crossing but usually prefers to play alone.
Pillar John: Unusually good at checkers. You can't beat him. Everybody's tried and failed. I think he'd also like GTA, weirdly enough. He probably loves Cards Against Humanity. Always gets a good laugh. Plays Animal Crossing with Noise and Noisette. Also likes Minecraft.
Gerome: Master of chess. Pizzahead has tried and failed many times. He likes relaxing games. Probably a fan of Stardew Valley. Might hop on World of Warcraft with Gustavo. Might play cards with Stick and Vigi. Also good at card games.

I wrote a giant description of all the characters based on what my friend and I were talking about can I have your opinion:
I am going to be starting with the first post where I mention the balectors of Stardew valley. This means the characters that you are able to date and eventually marry if you want to do that. In order to reach perfection, which is the end of the game, you need to have someone live in your house with 12 hearts in order to give you a stardrop. Hearts are friendship points you can get by giving points. That is one of the two ways to gain friendship. The other is through cut scenes you get by progressing in your relationship and by saying things that make them either like or hate you more.
Anyways, onto the characters, starting with Haley who is the first person you mention. I am married to her which is because I like how her character progresses. As you gain friendship with her, she gets more nice and is open to different things then she was before. For example, she used to throw away her clothes each year but says she donates it now. She is super cute and sweet when she is married to her and it seems as though she is in love. She is kind of like a disney princess as you mention because she likes makeup and is girly. The next you mentioned is Leah who actually lives in a cottage and lives to forage and build for you. Penny is actually the opposite of what you said as she is horrible at baking and teaches the two children in town (and eventually Leo) Jas and Vincent and she also likes to read. Her mother, Pam, is abusive. But I can talk about her in a little bit. Abigail is the most popular person to marry as people like her because she is adventurous and wants to fight in the caves and is in a band with Sam and Sebstain. There is a theory that she is actually the wizard’s daughter because her mom admits to going to his tower and her dad says they do not look similar and the wizard says he thinks he might have a daughter. Abigail is also kind of a meme because if you give her gems she will say, “How did you know that I was hungry?” Basically everyone considers her cool and a meme and she is probably the wizard’s daughter. Emily likes crystals and parrots and dances and all of her cut scenes are basically fever dreams. So she is kind of a psychopath and super excited all of the time. Her and Haley are sisters and do not get along. In earlier versions of Maru, she had really curly hair and a lot of the community, including me, thinks she looks better like that. I also consider her hair to be kind of cool. She likes robotics.
Anyways, the next up is the marriage candidates for the guys. You are totally right that it is so random. Elliot is a writer and he is very attention starved as he writes you poems and is obsessed with you when you date him and writes you a book based on what genre you say you like. Harvey IS a simple man. His favorite gift is coffee so you definitely got that done. He has anxiety and never talks to anyone and tries to be better about that if you date him. So he is chill and kind of a meme because your stuff gets taken if you get knocked out in battle and he charges a thousand gold for repairing you. You were exactly right with Sebastian as he is moody and does not like people and plays video games from 10am to 10pm. Alex is sexist to you if you are a girl and is kind of arrogant about wanting to be a professional football player. So you are completely right. You are wrong about Shane, though, he is actually really mean to you and wants you to not talk to him. Most of his events are about him being suicidal and depressed and an acholicoal. One is where he wants to roll off a cliff and is drunk. Not mafia material. I do agree about his jacket, though, it is kind of cool. Even though it has a J on it which stands for Joja which is a company he works for. Joja is basically the definition of capitalism in this game. Sam is actually friends with Sebastian and Abigail and he wants to be in a band which he is in. They like to play DND and it is a thing in the community that Sam and Sebastain should be dating.
Onto the villagers. Willy is a fisherman and kind of chill so you were sort of wrong but I would definitely want to go on an adventure with him as well so actually I agree, you win. Everyone loves Robin and a lot of people are sad you cannot date her because of Demetris. You were so wrong about Demetris but the way. Robin is actually Sebstain’s mom’s but he is it related to Demetrius. Demetris hates Sebastian but loves Maru and this makes Sebastian really angry. Demeteruis also does not care about Robin who we love. Sandy is my favorite as she is lonely in the desert and really wants to spend time with you and is super confident and sweet. You are right about Pam, also, by the way. She is super abusive and drinks too much beer every night and treats her daughter, Penny, unfairly. She also speaks like she is living in texas. The wizard is kind of weird but he is also cool because of his magic. Krobus is amazing and he is the opinion for the aromantics as you can have him move into your house and he gives you hugs instead of kisses and is amazing. The dwarf hates Krobus because of a war between the dwarfs and the shadow people so he kind of sucks. Krobus is adorable. Jas and Vincent are both kind of weird like no one cares about them. I mean Jas is more interesting because she is related to Shane and Marine and Vincent is interesting because his dad, Kent, has ptsd from fighting in the war. Kent is kind of weird and has a freakout because of popcorn because of his ptsd. Pierre is not like Harvey at all, he steals credit for your crops and only cares about money and nothing else. No one really likes him. Evelyn is the nicest person ever as she makes cookies for you and says you can call her Granny. Everyone likes her so much. Jodi is kind of boring and depressed because she has no freedom and spends her entire life taking care of her kids, Sam and Vincent. Demetris is awful. Linus and Leo go together because they both like nature and are kind of connected to it. Lewis is not. He steals money from the town and uses it to make gold statues of himself. He is dating Marine and refuses to make their relationship public even though no one would care and is toxic. Also, the others you did not mention are Caronline and Clint and George and Gus so I am just going to explain them. Caroline is Pierre’s husband and might be cheating on him so you know… kind of bad… whatever. She is fine I guess, it is weird, no one really cares about her. Clint has a crush on Emily and is super creepy about it and is kind of disgusting and tries to be like a sob story so not thank you. George is super grumpy and rude and is in a wheelchair because of a mining accident. Gus is amazing and kind of knows everything about everyone.
Onto the next section, okay? Grandpa looks blue because he is a ghost who visits you in your third year. I do not like him. It is weird. The governor is actually like you think he is, he has no clue about anything and just wants to visit once a year to literally just eat soup. (I am not kidding, look it up, promise you.) Marlon is actually like you say and he has a crush on Marnie and is a perfect opinion for her. Birdie is part of ginger island and is super sweet and gives you fairy dust and you find something for her to remind her of her husband who died in a tragic accident. It is amazing to do because you get an award and it is just wholesome and kind of sad. Gil does supply items and he is like a moment away from death basically so you are right. Gunther is awesome and yeah, kind of suspicious but great. Okay. That is all of the villagers summarized for you.
Woo boy, you gave me a whole novel!
well, here are some of my thoughts:
Penny isn't necessarily bad at cooking,(from what I know) she just shouldn't experiment. She's also shy and emotionally sensitive
Emily is what I believe people call a "Cristal girl" not necessarily a psychopath, she also seems to have her "head in the clouds" and yeah, positive most of the time.
Ermm... actually☝️🤓 Harvey takes 10% of however much gold you have.
Dang, you kept Alex one short! But yeah, same thing as Hayley but with the ego and the sexism if you're a girl. He also lives with Grany Eveiln and Granpa Jorge because his mother died and the father was presumably abusive
To be fair to ghost grandpa, he's stuck haunting the farm until you can get the perfection statue so he kinda can't move on lmao!
Marlon is also a cool adventurer who will go down in the dangerous mines to get your stuff if you pay him
I wouldn't say Demetrius hates Sebastian, he just has a huge favoritism problem. He's also a very logical thinker from what I can interpret in his dialog
And to be fair to Clint... the Farmer's also kinda a stalker...in more ways than one...
But I'm not here to argue anything, I'm just sharing some thoughts. You have a right to think whatever you want about whatever character
Overall pretty good! 👍

What song/genre of music do you think of when you imagine the bachelor/ettes? If there was a specific artist or band for Sam, who do you think they'd be?
Oooh—I actually have thought about this! I have a playlist just for when I'm writing blurbs about the stardew valley characters, and no I don't care if any of these are predictable because I think they're accurate lmfao.
Sam
2014 Five Seconds of Summer, Shawn Mendes, and Why Don't We. His general vibe is young, reckless love. If there's a specific song in mind, I think of him as a mix between 5sos' End Up Here, She Looks So Perfect, If I Can't Have You by Shawn, and Why Don't We's Fallin' (Adrenaline)
Seb
I think he's a mix between 5sos' Voodoo Doll, Troye Sivan's Strawberries and Cigarettes, Taylor Swift's Style, and the last 90-ish seconds of Sleep Token's The Summoning. Also Conan Gray's Overdrive. He's still young and reckless, but he's a little more subdued and all over the place.
Alex
One Directions' Steal My Girl, Shawn Mendes' Wonder, and Harry Styles' Watermelon Sugar. Even though they're pretty heavy with gendered language, I have no issue imagining Alex with varying farmers while listening to these songs.
Elliott
His love definitely swerves more toward obsession and worship, so anything by Hozier, no question about it. But also Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Frank Valli is heavy Elliott energy.
Shane
Everybody Wants You by Johnny Orlando, Someone To You by BANNERS, DogBird by Madds Buckley, and Lauv's I Like Me Better. Like Seb, Shane's pretty all over the place as well. Also he makes me cry ahaha. hm.
Harvey
Harvey gave me a little bit of trouble when I first started writing. I had to think about him quite a bit to land on a genre/song for him. Anyway, Ophelia by The Lumineers, Ready Now by dodie, and The Way You Look Tonight by Michael Bublé are all Harvey coded. END ME
Maru
In My Mind by Lyn Lapid, Bubble Gum by Clairo, and Space Girl by Frances Forever. I imagine her as a pretty inexperienced and romantically repressed character (I wonder why Demetrius) so all of these songs have a certain level of melancholy about them, which is very Maru for me.
Penny
She by dodie, Conan Gray's Heather, and Lonely by Noah Cyrus. Repressed, just like Maru, but for different reasons. Never had the opportunity to really live her life, you know? Lots of insecurities and feelings of inadequacy my poor babie nO but I usually only listen to those when I'm feeling a little down. You can trust that I don't always write angst for her, and when I don't, it's loooots of early Taylor Swift.
Abigail
Very punchy, "powerful woman" type songs. Namely UPSAHL's People I Don't Like, Beautiful is Boring by BONES UK, and American Horror Show by SNOW WIFE. She has opinions and she's going to let you know what she thinks—but make no mistake, she is a loyal and good person to her core. She's just got an attitude sometimes.
Haley
Sabrina Carpenter. That's it. lmao no i'm kidding Diamonds Are Forever, Nonsense, Looking At Me, and Girlfriend by Bea Miller. I love me a mean, confident lesbian, but she does soften up the more you get to know her, and I always listen to Isabel LaRosa's I'm Yours when I want to go that route with her. I also think of her when I listen to Dress by Charlotte Sands.
Leah
Cosmic Love by Florence + The Machines, Light My Love by Greta Van Fleet, and Constellations by The Oh Hellos. She's got a certain whimsy about her, but she's still a very grounded individual. She and Elliott have a similar vibe to each other, but where he's the smell of salty sea spray and plum juice dripping from your fingers, she's frayed picnic blankets and the smell of grass after it rains.
Emily
Now this might be controversial, but Señorita by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello is always gonna make me think of her. I'm Born To Run by American Authors, Enchanted by Taylor Swift (her version, obviously), are also both some of the easiest songs for me to think about her. She definitely believes in soulmates and fate, and probably makes jewelry or sews while thinking about you.

1,000+ Hours??
Steam tells me I've played over 1,000 hours of Stardew Valley. WILD! In my defense (?), that's over about 7.5 years, so it works out to about 130 hours a year, but still, it's by far the videogame I've played the most, and now that the 1.6 update is coming out in a couple of weeks, I got to thinking about just why that is, and why I enjoy the game so much.
For anyone who doesn't know, Stardew Valley is a farming life sim in pixel art style, where you inherit your grandpa's farm and are tasked with fixing it up and revitalizing the town it's in. It was created by a solo developer, ConcernedApe aka Eric Barone, as a passion project that took him years to make, because he did everything: the coding, the art, the music, all of it, while he had a part-time job and his girlfriend supported them.
It's a hell of an underdog story: solo developer labors away at this passion project for years, and then when he finally releases his game, it becomes an enormous hit. In the past eight years, it's sold over 30 million copies. At around $15 a game, all it takes some quick back of the envelope math to calculate that, even accounting for the cuts various platforms and past publishers have taken, discounted prices, and his overhead now that he has a small handful of staff, ConcernedApe has made hundreds of millions of dollars.
I mention all of this because in a lot of ways, Barone is living the dream. He did it, he hit it big: he worked really hard on this thing he loved, and it was a success, and people love it, and now he's set for life. Of course it came with its own costs: this GQ profile points out that it took a near obsessive dedication to pull off, and obviously, he couldn't have managed it without the financial support of his partner. But like, damn! It more than paid off!
The fanbase almost universally adores Barone: not only is he an incredible underdog success story, but he's released multiple updates for the game for free. Like, dude absolutely could have charged for the 1.5 update, it added a lot of content and the players would've been happy to pay for it, but it was free! He also personally helps people out sometimes, when bugs break their game saves, and he's supportive of the lively modding community (in fact, the 1.6 update includes a lot of updates that are specifically meant to make modding easier).
All that external stuff wouldn't really matter to me if I didn't actually like playing the game. But I do, and as I've thought about why I love it so much, I know part of it is the knowledge that it was, in fact, this one guy's passion project, and very clearly a labor of love that he devoted a ton of care and attention to. It's an inextricable part of what makes it feel good to play the game. (Also, it's nice to know the game isn't, like, evil, lol. No exploitative labor practices [other than the creator's own perfectionism], no microtransactions, no dark patterns meant to make you throw more money at it, though it is for sure an addictive game play loop.)
Anyway, it's been one of my emotional support videogames over the past seven and a half years I've played it. The great thing about my anxiety, to the extent there can be great things about it lol, is that it's very easily distracted, and games like Stardew Valley (and Hades) are A++++ ways for me to break out of an anxiety spiral. Very useful during the Trump times and the pandemic! Also, even when I'm not feeling notably anxious, it's just a super chill and satisfying game to play, one that gives you that sweet, sweet dopamine for accomplishing tasks, plus it's a great game to play while you're listening to an audiobook or podcast.
But like, I'm still kind of baffled about why this game. I've tried a bunch of different games that are similar, and none of them have hit for me like SDV. Like, objectively, I should be sick of SDV! Even with the amount mods add to the game, I've basically 100%ed the game with two different saves (the achievements I haven't gotten are the ones I'm NEVER going to get: never gonna do a Joja run, and never gonna come close to beating the Journey of the Prairie King minigame). And yet, here I am, still playing it!
Other games like it that I have tried, and even enjoyed, but that haven't held onto my attention like SDV has:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Like probably everybody else, I downloaded this just as pandemic quarantines and restrictions were kicking off in the US, and it became my Emotional Support videogame while I was stuck in my apartment. It was charming and comforting and cute, and the routine it added to anxious, isolated days was a true gift. It has plenty in common with SDV: farming and foraging mechanics, decorating a house, befriending villagers. But I abruptly dropped it in July of 2020 and just...never went back to it. It served its purpose for me, and while I think of it fondly, I don't really have any desire to play it again.
Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom: Not, strictly speaking, in the same genre as SDV. But I've played a lot of it, and it has some of the same vibes, if you will: gorgeous scenery, the ability to play it however you want, foraging, great music, a chill vibe (when you're not fighting monsters). And indeed, I do occasionally come back to these games! They truly are beautiful, and genuinely thrilling at points. But there's not quite enough structure here to make for a comforting gaming experience.
Littlewood: a cute little RPG with some of the same mechanics as SDV. I played about 40 hours of this, but got bored with how grindy it started to feel. SDV also has a fair amount of grind, but I think what keeps it from feeling too grindy is the amount of variety. Littlewood's grindiness felt like it was just about making Number Go Up. With SDV, you have a bunch of different kinds of grindiness: making money, catching all the fish, collecting stuff for the community center, collecting enough resources to build stuff, going into the caves to mine and fight monsters, etc.
Spiritfarer: billed as a "cozy management game about death", and not really fucking around with that description. Has farming and fishing mechanics, plus you get to explore the world by sailing to various destinations, but there's not really any replayability here. Also it is emotionally devastating. Like, you start it, and you're like, oh, the art is so pretty, the music is so nice, how lovely, how charming, there is an adorable cat here as well, and then the game reminds you, hey! you are here to help souls release their earthly burdens and move onto the next stage of the afterlife! And you will cry. Like, seriously, this is the only videogame to have ever made me cry.
Cult of the Lamb: darkly funny little RPG about being an adorable little lamb who's building a cult to your dark god. The vibe here was funny, with the juxtaposition of the cutesy art and the dark humor. I got bored with this, plus it got pretty buggy for me on my Switch, but it was fine!
Sun Haven: farming sim RPG, much heavier on the fantasy and anime vibes than SDV. I gave up on this one after 15 hours. There were a lot of little things that just piled up and annoyed me too much to keep going. Something about the game's balance and pacing also just felt off to me.
Dave the Diver: like, yes, this is about a guy diving into a Big Blue Hole to catch fish for his sushi restaurant, so objectively quite different! But honestly, this was a delight to play. It juggled its various different aspects in a fun way, cycling between the fishing, the RPG stuff, the restaurant management, and even a little bit of farming. The art style is neat, the cut scenes are funny, and it's pretty nice to just swim through the water catching the occasional fish. Again though, not super replayable, and the gameplay loop does get boring once you've played through the main game.
Roots of Pacha: this is basically SDV, but make it prehistoric. I liked the pixel art a lot, and it's a neat tweak on the SDV formula. I had fun playing it! But again, I finished the main game and felt no real urge to go back to it, or to grind out all the achievements.
Wylde Flowers: another cozy life/farming sim, but this one includes witchy elements. An art style reminiscent of Pixar movies, which tbh, is really not my jam in video games. This one stands out though for how it's fully voice-acted, which is a neat touch. Nothing out and out wrong here, I just got bored, and as noted, the art style is not my favorite. I think the gameplay loop here just wasn't as satisfying as SDV.
And finally, Hades: this is nothing at all like SDV, obviously. The only thing they have in common is a fishing minigame. But it and BotW/TotK are the only other games I've played anywhere close to as much as I've played SDV. Hades, like SDV, offers an immensely satisfying gameplay loop, one with enough novelty to keep you playing, and the art is gorgeous. An incredibly fun gaming experience, and yeah, I come back to this one every so often. It's pretty relaxing for a rogue-lite fighting game, at least, once you've gotten the hang of it!
Graveyard Keeper: I haven't played this, but I did watch some Youtubers play it, lol, and counted it a bullet dodged. Not because the game looked bad, but just because it looked the kind of grindy that would CONSUME me but that would be ultimately unsatisfying. Way better to have saved myself ~50-60 hours and just watched Youtubers play through it instead.
After all that, I'm still not quite sure what keeps me coming back to SDV over and over rather than other games in the same or similar genres! I'll keep giving other games like it a try: I'm especially excited to try Coral Island when it comes out for the Switch, and Chef RPG whenever it's released. But for now, I'm super excited for the 1.6 update, and can't wait to start a new save.

Hi skrimpus! You got one of the best blog names on the site in our opinion. Anyway we're 293 batteries plus a human and you seem like fun so we're sending an ask to introduce ourselves.
We do quite a bit of crafting (pretty sure we found you through the crochet tag actually) but we're kinda slow so we don't post about it super often. We used to draw a lot, but not really anymore cause we weren't very good at it. Looking to start up again when we're less busy though.
As for video games, we never had the sims but we enjoy similar video games. Our current game is stardew valley, but pokemon is our obsession and we're always down to discuss haha.
A bit more about us personally (but vague so we don't dox ourselves accidentially). We're 18+, and similar to your age. Also, we're uni students who live in the us of a, and we're gonna be pharmacists one day. We're relationshipless aces, but it's pretty cool y'all are already married. To find that person for you at a young age is pretty neat, and we hope things go well for you!
Anyway, glad to make your mutual! Feel free to dm or tag us on anything and hope you have a good day :)
hello, battery friends!
dudes i literally was so surprised when this blog name was available like i fr got lucky with it but thank you i'm proud of it lol
i haven't crocheted in a while, and i have joint problems so i totally understand going slow with it. i've been working on a granny square blanket (literally just one giant granny square) for almost a year now and it's not even that big. i just add a few rounds along the edges whenever i feel like it, but now that it's a decent size it takes me like an hour to do one round.
i don't think i'm that good at drawing either, but i've started doing it anyway. i draw bugs, ocean life, little gremlin creatures, anything that sparks joy. i do get discouraged when it's not turning out right, but i'm working on letting myself be bad at things. it's helping me feel less pressure in my day to day life and it's also helping me feel more of those random moments of joy. that one meme or whatever, i am cringe but i am free, yknow. i recommend it
do you have a fav pokémon? mine is bulbasaur. basic, i know, but i just love him. i have a stuffed one, his name is bubs. i also love cressalia!
thank you for the ask, it makes me really happy that people (and a whole bunch of batteries) are nice enough to say hi to me :) i hope y'all have a great day too!

i was on my annual reread of the The Wind that Cuts the Night when i saw that you're writitng new sw fic on oh!my!god!!!!! i'm so obsessed with it!!!!! it's been on my mind nonstop for three days! I love how different it it from previous one, i'm in love with all of your characterisations of Alex!
I was curious, is there a chance of Haley giving Sebatian a shovel talk? As much as i would love for Alex to find his footing and stand up for himself, I also don't really see him as the one who would bring up how much Sebastian used to/still hurts him sometimes and Haley standing up for him is just a very satysfying thing to think of haha
Yes I'm writing a new Stardew Valley fic! It makes me so happy. :D
It's so awesome that you still read The Wind that Cuts the Night as well. I can't tell you how often I confuse titles between Wind and Stain, because they both have exactly the same amount of syllables, and a similar structure, so I'm cursed to always get them both confused.
As for Haley and Sebastian, it's possible she might, but if she ever does we won't get to see it, because this is an Alex POV story.
I also think Haley would be careful. She's very aware that Sebastian has been bullied by Alex (even though Sebastian has also been a bully), and she's also aware of how the town perceives her, though she gets frustrated with being stereotyped as kind of like... this pretty, bitchy girl. But she'd be aware of it, and she'd be aware of how Sebastian might view that as well.
I don't know if she'd give him a really intense shovel talk so much as just...talk to him. I think she's maturing pretty well, and shovel talks aren't an especially mature thing to do, because 'if you hurt him, I'll kill you' is an extremely immature way of simply saying 'I'm someone who genuinely cares for him, and I want to hold you to the same standard, and that means not hurting him intentionally in any way.'
So while I think it's nice to imagine someone being like 'if you hurt him, I'll kill you' (or some version of that), and defending Alex, I think Haley would be careful how she broached the conversation, and ultimately be pretty sensitive / aware and be able to read the room. She might simply point out that Sebastian can do damage easily, verbally, to people like Alex, and that he should stay aware of that.
#asks and answers#stardew valley#sdv alex#sdv sebastian#a stain that won't dissolve#thespectaclesofthor#harvey on the other hand#would deliver a great 'i have watched that young man suffer in ways you can't imagine'#'and if you think i'll let you get away with bullying or cutting him down now'#etc. etc. etc.#harvey may be quiet but he's definitely stern and ready to bat for alex

Abigail from Stardew Valley? :0 This game?
Ah, Abigail, the purple-haired resident goth girl of Pelican Town. Honestly pretty chill compared to some of the other npcs when you first meet her, casually admits to trespassing on your first meeting lol. We're kinda similar now that I think about it, we both like video games and swords and we both play the flute. Her four-heart cutscene is one of my favorites in the game, and I learned how to play the song A Stillness in the Rain bc I love it so much lol. The only thing I don't really vibe with is her obsession with spirits and stuff because of reasons, though I thought it was hilarious that the spirit board outs her about her feelings towards the farmer.
Romantic otp: honestly I headcanon her as aroace but I don't mind the basically canon ship of her and Sebastian, both romantically and platonically.
Non-romantic otp: the trio of her with Sebastian and Sam basically growing up together. She thinks Vincent is absolutely adorable despite Sam's protests (as siblings and their friends tend to be). I also want her to be friends with Penny and Maru idk what they'd bond over but yeah.
Unpopular opinion: uhhhhh honestly idk what the fandom thinks of her but I guess it would be the not vibing with the occult stuff
What I wish would happen in canon: DOES SHE EVER FIND OUT THE WIZARD IS HER REAL DAD?!?!? Caroline needs to fess up Abigail deserves to know. We need a group 10-heart event between the Wizard, Caroline and Abigail where the whole shebang is revealed. I also want her to join the adventurer's guild after her 10-heart event, like at least show up there from time to time. And I think she'd be besties with Krobus and the dwarf.
#never really thought about my favorite marriage candidates bc krobus is my favorite character period#i suppose abigail's pretty high up on that list tho can't tell you who'd be above her#thanks for the ask!#stardew valley#abigail stardew valley#abigail sdv#ask game#character opinion ask game

Pretty random ask but...The Bucci gang playing an rpg?
Have a nice day :)
Bucci Gang RPG Styles!!
Are y’all ready for my weird RPG game plugs up in here???? Also lol whoops some aren’t really RPG but LISTENNNNN also I may make like 27383939 variations of this in the futureeeee
Bruno Bucciarati
He would be really into Ciel Fledge: Daughter Raising Simulator RPG.
He would be the absolute BEST parent, too.
A good balance of strict but gentle parenting.
Oh, you want him to play a traditional style RPG?
He would play anything similar to a paladin role.
And always goes Chaotic Good.
Justice will be had!
But- he prefers RPG games that focus more on aspects of raising things.
Also loves farming & fishing simulators.
Has only ONE save file.
Leone Abbacchio
Fallout New Vegas.
He likes the idea of the world having nuclear fallout.
He has about three ongoing games at any time.
Says he’ll try different styles but always ends up playing the same type of character.
He tried Oblivion, once.
Chose High Elf.
He has High Elf energy.
And solely uses necromancy magic.
It’s funny to kill someone and then make them fight for you.
Would play Sword of the Necromancer but he sucks at dungeon crawlers.
Lawful Evil is his play style.
Using the rules set in place to screw over NPC’s makes his day.
Pannacotta Fugo
Really big into MMORGP’s and strategy JRPG’s.
If he plays open world RPG’s, like Skyrim, Fallout, Witcher, etc, he sets very strict rules for what his characters can and cannot do per play through.
Orc Main on World of Warcraft.
Orc Main whenever he can.
Hands down has a whole other persona when playing MMORPG’s.
Very in character.
Multiple characters.
Multiple saves.
JRPG strategies also make his brain tickle.
Likes Eternal Sonata because the setup for it is unique.
Wide range of moral alignments.
Just depends on his character.
Will KILL you if you override any of his saves.
Looking at YOU, Narancia.
Narancia Ghirga
Chaotic Evil.
Plays Fable.
The original one, though.
Will steal everything he can.
Also if dialogue in games allows it, he will always lie and cheat.
Also really likes farming simulators and RPG’s that allow romance.
A real casanova.
Also spends forever if customizing his characters is an option to make them look like him.
Never understands game mechanics so he just does whatever he wants to do and deals with the consequences.
Does not use the level up trees in games because it’s too complicated to understand.
Asks Fugo to do the level ups for him.
Accidentally saves over Fugo’s files.
Also really likes Dragon Age because the romance aspects and companion interactions bring him joy.
Guido Mista
Also really LOVES Dragon Age.
Chaotic Evil or Chaotic Good.
Loves romance options in any game.
A few saves but he never revisits old saves.
Also super into games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and other similar games.
Backed Chef RPG per Giorno’s suggestion and is very stoked for its release.
Loves spending time in level up trees and is very particular on how his characters are built.
Morrigan simp.
Alistair simp.
Saves over Fugo’s files and blames Narancia, sometimes.
Plays My Time at Portia and is obsessed with being a master builder.
Switches between romancing Ginger and Gust because he CAN.
Giorno Giovanna
Spends all money on backing games on Kickstarter.
Always recommends those games to the others.
Bruno, Fugo, and Guido love the recommendations.
Abbacchio refuses.
Narancia just finds that he cannot wait that long for a game to be released.
Chaotic Good.
Neutral Good.
Sometimes Lawful Good to a scary extent.
All of his characters that have customization options never look like him.
Rarely deviates his play style.
Does not care for romance options in games.
100% completionist.
All side quests are completed.
Trish Una
Very big into MMORPG’s.
But does not tell ANYONE.
Actually a pro at them.
Loves Asheron’s Call and World of Warcraft.
Big into the marketplaces and selling stuff she farms.
Surface level, she only presents as someone who likes Stardew Valley.
Huge into JRPG’s like Avalon Code, Eternal Sonata, and Luminous Arc 2.
Unique game mechanics make her very excited.
Also loves romance options.
But plays as True Neutral on most occasions.
May have found out what realm Fugo plays on and secretly goes on to harass him.
Finds Fugo’s online personas to be hilarious.
#jojo's bizarre adventure#jojo part 5#narancia ghirga#guido mista#bruno buccellati#leone abbacchio#pannacotta fugo#bruno bucciarati#giorno giovanna#jojo headcanons#trish una#rpg games? you got me there#I may or may not spend a lot of time on Kickstarter#i am very excited for chef rpg and recommend it#hi these are self inserts because I am ALL of these#thank you for the ask!

i said i would forward this to u
📩 Simblr question of the day: A non-sims simblr question/s! Besides Sims, what other games do you play and what platforms do you like to play on? (PC, Console, Mobile...) What would genre/s do you tend to lean towards? (FPS, Sandbox, Multiplayer, Simulation, etc.) Bonus! If a game has character customization, do you like to make a completely new character everytime or do you like to use the same OC/Sim?
thank u baby!!! as i was complaining to u im not technically a simblr any more and therefore am not technically being addressed but thank u for smuggling over the simblr crumbs to me skjdfhskjdfs
i am pretty sure that my first pc games were restaurant & zoo empire (and also ts2) and i still am a zoo games bitch to this day. i play a lot of indie games these days bc theres a lot of gems but also i currently only have my laptop and it cant handle the big beefy games. also money kdjfhskdf (i do also enjoy playing games on the switch but. optimization usually sucks and sales are so bad. so i just mourn the handheld experience. mobile games i dont rly play at this point but i did have a big obsession w subway surfer)
generally genre wise im attracted to puzzle/mystery games, visual novels, sim games (esp crafting/farming/walking sims) but my start was in rpgs and i would like to pick that back up! also want to get more into deckbuilding games! this year ive played a bunch but my faves so far have been my time at sandrock and botany manor! and currently im playing stardew valley once again
all time faves that fall in these categories are definitely carto, the sexy brutale, eastshade, skyrim, strange horticulture, wytchwood and book of travels. but i also rly love the pokemon series and acnh and i have a big attachment to da:i and the mass effect trilogy since they were what RLY got me into gaming besides the sims! and i honestly would love to play more similar games in a fantasy or sci-fi setting but currently theres not rly anything on my list. (though i do have a bunch of fantasy/sci-fi games coming up just not w combat and exploration mechanics and i do miss that)
as for characters, some games rly inspire me to create someone new (also why i miss me/da tbh) like skyrim or book of travels or even pokemon (some of my pokemon ocs got so fleshed out i love it) but i am also prone to reusing some faves like ficus/felix elderberry, charlotte miracle and abbie lavellan kjfhkasjfkhasf also shoutout to gideon hawke & chikelu ryder who never saw the light of day originally but then became HUGE in choices kasjfhkjasf

How many hobbies have they attempted to have over their lifetime? Is there a common theme?
All of my muses grew up connected to their cultures, so they all know how to do two of the most important crafts in Hoennese cultures: beadwork and bone carving. This especially goes for Asteria, Zinnia and Zíniya who were raised being trained to be Lorekeepers--one thing Lorekeepers do is make regalia to honor people in society who through bravery and kindness have earned the right to wear such precious works of art. At that point it's beyond a hobby, it's part of their religion. But they all have amazing skill at the craft which does serve Asteria and Zinnia well when they want to do fun things like beading characters from their favorite books and shows onto household objects like backpacks, wallets and purses.
Unfortunately for Asteria, her ambition left her little room to pick up other hobbies until later in life when she matured and realized that winning & being the strongest wasn't everything. Brendan on the other hand has tried picking up lots of hobbies during his break from the spotlight. He loves playing wholesome video games that were created specifically with children in mind but that are really for all ages, games similar to Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. He tried writing fiction and poetry; he really is still a novice at it, but at least he enjoys it. He also loves doing different sports like swimming, skateboarding, badminton, etc. He got into woodworking and picked it up pretty well, seeing it as similar to bone carving. And of course he loves Coordinating, though he never saw as much success in it as May did. The only common theme to his hobbies is that he's willing to try anything and he usually ends up being decently good at it. He's a jack of all trades and master of none.
Wallace was in a similar boat as Asteria--his ambitions left him little room to develop hobbies on the side. But unlike Asteria who deliberately withheld herself from hobbies that weren't battling and Coordinating, Wallace just never did much outside Coordinating (which like art is to most artists is both a hobby and a job) because he was genuinely never interested in branching out. Apart from Coordinating, he would swim, dive, draw and make crafts in what little spare time he had, but it was only Steven who convinced him to branch out into other things. Thanks to Steven, spelunking is now one of his hobbies. Wallace eventually hopes to go cave diving with Steven once the guy learns how to swim better; for Steven, the promise of being able to eventually dive in caves (and with his husband, no less) is a huge motivation for him to overcome his hydrophobia and learn how to swim.
As far as Steven goes, though, he's like me in that his AuDHD hyperfixation on his already existing hobbies is so strong it's super hard to get him to accept new hobbies as well. Just like my other main hobbies (video games and drawing) tend to fall by the wayside because I'm so hyperfocused on writing and researching for writing, Steven likes to obsessively devote all of his free time to geology and time spent with his Rock-, Steel-, Dragon- and Ground-type Pokémon. However, being Archchosen of Groudon on top of being a secret Sootopolitan comes with a huge heaping dose of its own responsibilities: Groudon, as the Pokémon representing the Earth, has a surprising green thumb, which means their Archchosen needs one as well. Steven is thus currently in the process of taking up gardening as a hobby. Despite a very rocky start (he couldn't even properly care for a cactus), he is slowly getting the hang of it…though Wallace will always teasingly hold it over his head that he accidentally killed his first cactus, which Wallace had gotten him knowing cacti are some of the easiest plants to care for and thinking he couldn't possibly mess it up.

Coral Island anon here! So glad you are interested in it, it is heavily inspired by Stardew and it has so, SO much potentia🥺🥺
And yes, I bought Sun Haven and I'm seriously happy that you recommended it! I'm down with a fat cold rn and I played it all day yesterday, literally the perfect distraction. I got right into it from the beginning and I'm loving it so much. It feels a lot easier than Stardew because I'm not stressed out by the time and Energy I have (except for when I'm exploring and going far away from Sun Haven lmao, but that'll probably change later on-) and the fishing is actually something I can do now?? I never got it in Stardew, no matter how many Tutorials and Guides I watched and read, I was so bad at it I literally ended up using a mod cuz I just couldn't do it😭😭 But also the dragons look so cool?? I only met Elios so far but he looks AMAZING, so hyped to see the other(s)🥺
I can definitely see that!!! I like that it has a lot to do with the island itself, I think that'll really set it apart from other farming sims given most of them only have beach shores, but aren't on an actual island!!! I can definitely see the potential, too!!
God, I'm so so glad you're enjoying it!!! I'm sorry you're sick, but I'm glad you have Sun Haven to delve into while you recover! I also suffered from having so much stress due to racing against energy and time in Stardew, it is such a RELIEF to not deal with that really in Sun Haven, especially if you have longer days on! As for traveling further away from Sun Haven, I saw a sign mentioning a taxi service a few people talking about something similar to Stardew's staff that lets you teleport home, so I imagine once that's unlocked, it's super easy to go out exploring and get home quickly.
Stardew's fishing... see, I'm really good at the fishing system in Stardew. I have a save where I've caught all the legendaries, the octopus, all that. But just because you're good at something does not mean it's all that enjoyable, y'know? Like, I can do it, but I don't really enjoy doing so, especially as I've gotten older with joint issues. I very much like how we can just hit a space on a bar and bam! Fish! SO much simpler and also it's a LOT more accessible and all-kinds-of-players friendly.
ELIOS IS SO COOL!!! I agree 100%!!! The dragons look so neat!!! He's like a big lion... dragon... griffin thing and I love that! It's a very unique design. I also like the widdol dragon baby... himst so cute. Have you seen Anne's pet? He's super cute, too, heheh. Not really a dragon, but we can count him too, right? And the courier phoenix is so cool looking! Like, the designs and stuff in Sun Haven are so interesting! I can't wait to see what comes after Spring, and what the devs will add in later!
And AGAIN, I'm not shitting on Stardew Valley at all! Stardew is a phenomenal game, but I do think Sun Haven is extremely enjoyable. It's my newest obsession.
What race did you pick, btw? I started with a baker Naga, then made a rancher Human for when I play on stream, and I then made an explorer Elf for personal times, lol!
#sun haven#coral island#stardew valley#100% love getting the speed boost perks#like im a gamer i got places TO BE

I bought Stardew Valley recently during a Steam sale and I am OBSESSED. It scratches that one part of my brain in a similar way Minecraft does.
So, here's my farmer, Opal. She loves Petrichor, has a grey cat named Willow, and is best friends forever with Linus and Sebastian. Also, and I didn't tell you that, but she may have a crush on Krobus.
Also, here's just the shading layer on a black background, since I thought it looked cool
#art#artists on tumblr#digital art#fan art#sorta#game art#stardew valley#stardew valley oc#stardew valley farmer#opal#kinda rushed it and the proportions are whack but oh well#the glow ring is also old news i made the iridium one already#creepy
