someone probably said this already but in spiderverse i think it's interesting how when pavitr was first introduced everyone thought something bad was gonna happen to him bc of how confident and optimistic he was. and then in the actual movie we see that something bad was supposed to happen to him (police chief dying!) but it doesn't! miles stops it! and miguel berates miles for this, says it's going to cause the universe to collapse or whatever.

there's this idea that tragedy is inherent to spidermans growth, and while it's true that some spiderpeople learn important lessons through loss, no one stops to ask, is it really necessary? yeah, maybe the chief was supposed to die. but why does spiderman have to be formed through tragedy? why do we (as heroes) have to let people die? pavitr didn't lose anyone, and he's still a good spiderman! maybe, if he doesn't suffer, he'll end up better off for it!

so while miguel is arguing for all this big picture stuff about saving the multiverse he's lost sight of what it really means to be a spiderman, he's not looking out for the real individual people. yeah it's just one person who would die, but that one person means something to someone. shrugging and saying "stuff just sucks sometimes, we can't do anything about it" is the opposite of what superheroes do. pretty obviously, miles arc is also a reflection of the struggles people face in real life, working within unequal systems, where it's easy to shrug and say "that's just the way it is" and not ask "but why does it need be this way? can't we do something about it?"

miguel is arguing that you can't have your cake and eat it too. presumably, miles and co. are going to find a way to get around that and change things for the better (and maybe that's why miles has that line about two cakes in the advisors office!)

How good are the first three VHS movies ? I'm currently stuck deciding which ones to watch or to just say fuck it and watch prisoners of ghostland 😂.

the vhs is definitely the best. the hotel room short is horrifying (they made a full movie about that was trash do not recommend but the short is chefs kiss) and the zoom call still fucks me up. the second is hit and miss but the zombie short is the best out of that one in my opinion (it ends real dumb though) and the 3rd one i barely remember other than there’s a short with skateboarders? ghostland is just fucking weird all around but it’s such a fun time. like it’s literally a fever dream acid trip with how much is going on but also not a lot is going on at the same time? i personally loved it (i have it on bluray) and honestly you can skip the 2nd and 3rd vhs movies and just watch the first and ghostland and you’ll have a baller time.

Matthew MacFayden’s Darcy is a fascinating thing to unpack because I don’t believe it succeeds as a performance of Darcy or even as a performance in general (it kind of can't) but there are layers to it and it's not simple.

Gente, what do you listen/watch while you draw, for me is hindi movie's soundtrack or murder cases... anyone else?

Of course I listen other music, like glee, you know real music, but I'm on my Bollywood Era right know, and I love it.

Murder cases are my fav specially from DinoVlogs, though I also listen to movie reviews or analysis.

This is my subtle way of telling you I am a little weird and also trying to draw again, until now...its been hard, but hopefully I would share some drawing with you soon.

(Also love the Tom Holland LipSync but it distract me too much, if you dont know what am I talking about you dont dereve to know)

just realised something random: I've always been kinda sad that there isn't any media that my parents liked and shared with me, that sort of thing. I know of things that they like, of course, but it was never something they showed me or anything.

and I just realised that's because it was never something nice, something fun, something they wanted to share - no, they only ever brought up things that they liked as a way to say that everything I liked was bad.

Walt Disney Animation Studios coming through once again with one of the least inspiring trailers I have ever seen in my life =‘)  Does stuff happen in this movie? It’s a secret!

Iiiii really don’t like the way their press copy is written up either, just in terms of, like ... lol, y’all wouldn’t ever develop a whole feature film just to tie it in with Disney100, right - develop a marketing concept about the Disney Wishing Star and work backwards like the whole thing was a brand campaign on steroids, right? ....right?

And just to be totally clear: I fully expect the actual film to be totally charming and sweet, and I expect to personally enjoy it, I just dislike how it’s being presented.  But probably part of that is due to being an old sourpuss. <3

you know these past several days i’ve been thinking like. well surely there must be a point if i watch this movie enough times that i can unlock the secret brain chemical that makes me think it’s good. a lot of people think this is good i should be able to understand that if i just like open my mind or something. frankly i think i’m beginning to see the outline of the key to all of this and it lies in having to simply put the movie on and not pause it to bitch about some detail every ten minutes. and then also you have to approach it with love in your heart and of course it helps if you’re all consumingly obsessed with some guys who could even slightly be compared to this movie. and then well it’s still bad. but maybe tomorrow it will finally be good. one way to find out!
