Hootsie: least fun to draw (Boring shapes) (draw the least). Typically I imagine her as a horned owl owlbear so her canon “eyebrows” flatten out and connect to her neck. I just think it gives her a nice silhouette. Frost: least fun to draw (cat). I’ve been drawing him with Chinese/vaguely East Asian-inspired robes because he’s from the mountail of Yulong and you can’t just give me a place called “Yulong” and expect me NOT to go ham on the east asian inspiriation. (east asian artist here.) Gricko: don’t draw nearly enough, most fun to draw (hair). I gave him a permanent cowlick on his bangs and I think the shapes are nice. Chunks ripped out of his ears are from Hootsie when she was younger and couldn’t control her strength. Kremy: most fun to draw (lizord), draw the most, did the most reference study for. I may love to draw lizards but crocodylidae are so uniquely shaped. Scrolling back through my ouaw posts and you can see I am still getting used to it. Torbek: most inconsistent, stupid machinery doesn’t make sense. The shape of his canisters and the collar with a keyhole both are from the first time I drew him, which was without a reference, and they just. Stuck. Gideon: Big boob indulgence, stupid machinery doesn’t make sense. Drawing him with awkwardly long hair, post-trauma fat, and smile lines is my favorite passtime. His marriage rings are on a necklace because they get in the way of punching clowns. Twig (pre-death): draw the least (can’t figure out her shapes). Drawing her fractured glasses and refracted eye is my favorite time.

Briggsy: Still figuring out how to depict distinction from Kremy (gator). So far i’ve got more spikes and a thicker neck and thats about it. I’m working on it. Farryn: fun shapes! skinny L. Ever since learning how to draw body fat I’ve never gone back its actually so hard to draw skin-and-bones skinny people now. Marius: least consistent (can’t decide how curly her hair is), armor L. Yes I headcanon he/she marius do you have a problem with that? Bat-like ears because heehoo. I just realized the symbol I drew on his chestplate looks like the Horde symbol from she-ra FUCK can you tell I don’t look at references? Jericho: most fun to draw!!! (draw the most). I like to draw virgil!jericho with four-pointed-star slits instead of just orbs with pupils because I think shapes are fun. Lethica: drew her wrong for WAY too long. I hadn’t paid enough attention to her actual ref and covered up her chest initially I’m so sorry queen. shes so pretty though. Although I do think its infinitely funny to headcanon that she actually looks pretty average. Tall women my beloved. Yorgrim: least drawn, Beard + Big indulgence. No seriously I’ve only drawn him twice. Hes awesome though soft rectangular shapes ftw.

hello first off SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG FOR ME TO ANSWER but no i don't mind giving my opinions on the side characters

Arata and Kotaro are actually two of my favorite side characters! I didn't like them that much at first to be honest but they've definitely grown on me a lot recently.

I think Kotaro is really overlooked actually. Like I still see people bring up his actions in the main story when he’s moved on a lot past that, and then just write him off because of it. And I mean, it’s probably because he never got too much screentime between then and Power of Unity, but since he’s been making more regular appearances I think they’ve taken his character in a really interesting direction. He initially became a singer because he wanted to be a cool older brother for his baby brother and just happened to see RW at that time, which pushed him into street music. He just did it as a passtime because he was sort of good at it. However, RW did have a big impact on him, just like it had on An and Akito, even if he was only sorta casual in the street music scene. He admits in POU that the reason he never went further was because he was afraid, and seeing VBS putting their all into it inspired him.

It’s sort of subtle up until Light Up the Fire, but Kotaro doesn't have a lot of self-esteem or confidence in his singing. I think the first time it's ever brought up is in Power of Unity as far as I remember, where he asks once or twice if he's holding everyone back. LUTF makes it really clear that he has a lot of insecurities: he believes he's holding everyone back and he believes that he has no talent compared to the others. And that's what sticks out to me, because 3/4 of VBS have felt the same way. Kohane, Akito, and Toya all at some point or another believed they were holding everyone back, be it because they were a rookie, lacking talent, or had no resolve. Kotaro has been all of those and it’s obvious that he is written the way he is to serve as a mirror character to those three. He's had the same insecurities but the way he goes about dealing with them is totally different. While VBS had each other to rely on, Kotaro doesn't have a singing partner or group. He's a solo artist. And while he works with VBS, Arata, and EVER, he isn't part of any of their groups. Even Arata who also works alone still has Souma, but more on that in a minute.

(Also just an aside, I think he’s a mirror to Kohane slightly more than the others, and that slightly being the fact that VBS is what got him inspired to take this seriously, because that’s how Kohane got inspired she saw the others and wanted to be just like them, she wanted something to throw herself into and give her all to. The fact that she’s the main one who tries to call out to him when he breaks down in LUTF I think also plays into this, like it seems to hint that she’s able to relate to him.)

I really think Kotaro is much more than how he was presented in the main story and could definitely become a pretty strong side character if he ever got an event with a bit more focus (like how Vivid Old Tale gave Nagi a lot of screentime or POU had a lot of focus on Arata). Also clpl have you ever considered giving Kotaro a partner please give him a partner. Considering you rubbed in how important singing partners are before now why haven't you even tried to give him one?

Arata has definitely been given more development than Kotaro and I genuinely think he has one of the best arcs of any side character. Like he starts out as a rival for Akito, a foil to Akito. He's basically everything Akito wants to be, and also kind of a dick. Him getting beat by Taiga though, even though it was a small moment, was definitely an important turning point for him because it put him on the same level as everyone else. Because even he has someone better than him.

Oh and his development in POU was so good I'm probably gonna go on a little tangent about his relationship with Souma now because it's so important to his character. Arata's doing all of this for Souma. Souma was the one who wanted to do street music, Souma was the one who took Arata to RW, everything was Souma's dream, but it was still important to Arata. They were partners after all. But that's what it is. Were. Even if Arata wasn't the one who was in that car accident, it still took a toll on him. Souma has been forced into a position where he isn't going to be able to achieve his dreams, so Arata has to carry all that weight on his back. Surpassing RW suddenly has become so much more important to Arata because he wants, needs, Souma's dream to become a reality. The thing is, with how caught up he was in doing everything for Souma, he approached everything on his own. Surpassing RW isn't something he can do alone; the original was a collaboration between several groups, there's no way Arata could do it alone. He needed to work with people again, which he finally realised in POU.

Actually I think one of my favorite moments in his arc has to be his showdown with Taiga in LUTF. Because he's been able to overcome what was holding him back, he's actually able to get closer to Taiga's level. That is, until Taiga drops the "we're not so different" bomb. Because that moment is so powerful. Because at that point we see Arata as less of a foil to Akito and more of a parallel to Taiga. Both of them went through a similar loss of a partner, and Taiga uses that to get under Arata's skin and he goes for a deep cut. Souma is incredibly important to Arata, and Taiga knows that and had a similar experience of losing someone important to him, and is able to see exactly what’s still holding Arata back from reaching his full potential. Arata is doing all of this for Souma. For Souma. Taiga points out that Arata isn’t carrying Souma’s dream, he’s clinging onto the idea to cope with his grief. The thing is, Souma can’t surpass RW anymore. Arata’s loaded that responsibility onto himself, without even considering his own feelings on the matter. As Taiga says, Arata is good, great even, but he can’t be the best unless he asks himself if he wants this. Arata can’t even say that he is carrying Souma’s dream, that he does want to do this and he isn’t just clinging onto the idea to cope, and it crushes him to the point of leaving Shibuya.

Honestly I think leaving was what was best for Arata in that moment. Because he does need to take a step back and just let himself actually process his grief. Because even if Souma is still alive, that partnership was still lost and Arata had dedicated everything to that partnership and to Souma, and really he still does. And honestly I think this is what he wants even if you take Souma’s dreams out of the equation, but he needs time to himself to think about what he wants. I don’t know when we’ll next see him again honestly it might be a while but I’m interested to see how that goes. Arata is surprisingly developed and nuanced for a side character and the fact the devs managed to do this across 3 events, two of which he only appears in for a couple chapters is insane. Oh yeah also I like him a bit more than Kotaro if the wall of text wasn’t obvious.

His story is quite simple actually, he was a newly made warrior from (unspecified clan) who died during his first battle, after reaching Starclan he decided that there is too much suffering in life and so every single cat should join Starclan so that they no longer need to feel fear nor sadness ! So his favorite passtime is guiding cats from all clans into their demise, of course he'd NEVER kill someone with his own paws ! He'd rather just... tell them to cross the thunderpath at the wrong time, or maybe guide them into a conveniently hidden trap, or perhaps even a den with a very angry badger in it

Oh I absolutely adore Zora. He has my heart and soul.

• This man needs all of your love. Hes a little insecure, so he needs validation from you. During the relationship he will get more comfortable with himself and actually accept the compliments you throw at him instead of dismissing them. Instead of saying “no” and “no im not” he’ll say “okay sure” and “If you say so” trying to hide the smile on his face.

• At the start of the relationship he'll be snarky and somewhat cocky. He still is now. But just know he wants to impress you. He really wants to leave an impression and he of course succeeded.

• He gives the most passionate kisses. The kind that knock the air out of your lungs. He loves kissing you, its his favorite passtime when you two are home and have nothing else better to do.

• He has his hands on you most of the time. On your thigh, lightly grazing your knee, elbow, hugging you from behind, hugging you regularly. He loves sneaking in small touches throughout the day. Especially when nobody is looking.

• He can be an annoying little shit sometimes though. He will prank you. A lot. He can be the biggest softy ever. Then the next minute he can the cockiest shit ever. And theres no in-between.

• You both love play fighting, it comes naturally to you both. The fights never escalate into anything bad or serious. Zora is GENTLE.

• Zora will say things like,

NOTES ➺ I know there's a plethora of fireplace fics but there's a reason they're sought after!! (Also, this being a 'x reader' fic means nothing, I am still a Locklyle girlie)

The Lockwood Estate was renowned for it's antiques and vintage touch. There is a scarcity of new things outside of food or files. One of those new things is the recliner chair that finds home in the library, parallel to Lockwood's favorite armchair.

While the embers crackle in the hearth, you bask in the warm glow pretending like you can actually see the words on your book when you can't. Your eyes glance to Anthony and wonder how he manages to go through bunches of magazines and comics and case files when you have to squint to differentiate an 'a' to an 'o'.

He's pretty when golden light hits his frame. His brow is scrunched, like a frown at the top of his nose. And his fingers bunch the edges of his magazine when he catches you staring.

"Oh." He says lowly.

Oh, you think. You manage a smile and you see how your gesture ripples, then he mirrors you. The magazine is discarded on the table and he leans forward until his elbows are rested on his knees, hands cupped together. "What are you staring at, stalker?" The lilt in his tone is a playful one, correspondent to his smile.

By instinct, you lean towards him, too. Your belly flattens against your claimed recliner. Your arm is propped up, palm pressing against your cheek. "You, obviously."

You catch a sliver of teeth before he schools himself, restraining a smile enough to throw another jab your way. "Must be your favorite passtime. You do that often?"

The corner of your lip turns up higher than the other. You stretch your arm so you're leaning against your elbow instead. "Only for pretty boys."

"That makes me the lucky one, huh?"

You nod.

It doesn't occur to you that minutes have passed, just the two of you sharing glowing smiles by the fireside. When one of you do break the cozy silence, it is him crossing the room and closing the place between you. You're just about to ask what he's up to when you wheeze– Feeling his weight drop onto your back until a laugh spills from you instead of a complaint. When you do wrestle him to come face to face, his smile is wider than ever and he's a little disheveled because he'd been laughing along with you.

It's magic. All of it.

His finger rolls the fabric of your — his — sweater, and in a tutting tone, he asks, "You minx. You've stolen this from my closet, haven't you?"

You can tell by his face that he wouldn't be mad with either way you could answer. So, you shrug. "Dunno what you're talking about."

"You little minx."

"Your little minx."

His nose crinkles and you let out a short laugh at it. "No offence, love, but that is terribly cheesy."

"Sad," you reply dryly. "Who recited Shakesphere to confess-"

"Shhhhh!" His finger is pressed to your lips. He jolts back when you take the liberty to kiss it. "Cheeky girl."

"Dramatic boy."

"Your dramatic boy."

This time, it is you who does the cringing. "Goodness... It is cheesy."

He points at you, nodding frantically. "Right?"

So I started watching ROTTMNT a few weeks ago despite my only exposure to the Ninja Turtles being a single scene of a 90's live-action movie when I was maybe 5 because the turtles started repeatedly appearing in my dreams, and my brother informed me this was the universe telling me I need to watch the turtles.

In any case, I have now become hyperfixated. Could I request platonic ROTTMNT turtle boys with a reader who is a biting insect magnet? It doesn't matter if the bug usually feeds on humans or not, the reader's blood is, for whatever reason, sweet, sweet nectar to all manner of biting insects, to the point that even max strength bug repellant doesn't always work to keep the bugs away; so reader is always getting bitten up by all nearby biting insects. To make matters worse, reader is mildly allergic to the itch juice bugs inject when they bite, and gets huge, swollen, itchy rashes from bug bites that itch for several weeks. (Reader is also an avid herper—someone who enjoys catching and releasing wild reptiles and amphibians, a passtime that involves being out and about where bugs are going to be at the times they are most active.)

My first experience with tmnt was the 2012 series when it first came out, I was like 7ish. Didn't Really get into the fandom though untill recently!

★ Whoo boy. He is so scared that you are going to get bitten by a oozesquitoe. It's not even funny. Anytime you're remotely near one he's pulling out Donnie's emergency hazmat suit (More on that later)

★ He urges you to where long sleeves and pants when you go out. Actually really likes the lizards that you catch. His favorite lizard native to New York is the coal skink because it looks a little red in the right lighting.

★ Raph's worried about your health, but that's just how he is. He will always be a bit worried about your health. Its actually pretty sweet. But please put a bandaid over the bigger bites so that he doesn't fret.

Leo

★ Leo, being the ever so intelligent person he is, decides that you're the perfect bait to catch oozesquitoes. Fortunately he is quickly shut down by his brothers the moment he voices his clearly perfect idea.

★ He keeps more than a few bottles of benadryl around the lair. Allergic reactions to bug bites wasn't something he knew about before meeting you. He's well stocked for whenever you get attacked by bugs.

★ Yes, he tried to cut a mosquito in half with his ōdachi. No, it didn't work. His weapon got stuck in a log because he put to much force into the swing.

★ He might get a little jealous over the lizards. Especially if you start talking to them. "look at you, handsome little guy!" And "oh, you have beautiful coloration" all prompt his jealousy. "Why don't you talk to me like that :'("

Donnie

★ Your blood seems to be irresistible to blood-eating insects, bug spray or not. His quite perplexed by the whole situation. Are you sure you used bug spray and not sunscreen?

★ His fear over you getting bitten by an oozesquitoe mixed with his tendency to plan things out in advanced led him to make a emergency hazmat suit for you in the turtle tank.

★ The amount of times he's had to put calamine lotion on you because you had gotten bit by bugs is way too high. To be blunt, he thinks you should stop trying to catch random lizards. Or at the very least cut down on it.

★ But then again, the look on your face when you catch a lizard and show him it is really cute. Especially when you explain to him what species it is and where it likes to hide during the day.

Mikey

★ Knows next to nothing about lizards, which is surprising because he's a reptile. If you have any books on wildlife he would like to borrow them to read up on New York's reptile population.

★ When you get bad allergic reactions he brings you to Leo. He would carry you but he probably can't because he is smol. Mikey loves animals but he doesn't love mosquitoes because of the effect they have on you.

★ He joins you whenever you try to catch lizards. Mikey loves to give the lizards you catch different names. Whenever you go out he brings a jar of dehydrated mealworms for whatever creature you catch.

Alright, I'm finally typing it out. Gather around, all, for the tale of the time my friends and I kidnapped a blueberry and drug them into the Vault of Glass.

Once upon a time, I used to have friends I would play Destiny 2 with regularly. None of them that feature in this story still do, to my knowledge, but at the time we were pretty cracked on the PvE side of things. At the time, we were raiding semi-regularly (when schedules lined up), and as Vault of Glass had just been added to D2 recently, it was our raid of choice that one, fateful evening.

We, like any sane PC player, were using Discord for comms, and so I had hopped into the channel to wait, and headed to the Cosmodrome for my favorite time-killing passtime - blueberry watching. For those of you unfamiliar, blueberries is an affectionate term for new destiny players, named after the color of the low rarity gear they end up decked out in, blue. The Cosmodrome, being the first public area a New Light ends up in, is often a place where you can see adorable new players getting the hang of things.

At this time, the voice channel began to fill up, and one of my compatriots joined my fireteam. We initiated some hug emotes with a blueberry and were just all-in-all chilling when we got word that one member of our team would be unable to join us. Then someone (I forget who) suggested 'hey, what if we took this blueberry along with us?'. It was a patently absurd option - we had no communication with them. Their mishmash of blue armor and crappy weapons would clearly be outclassed by the raid, leaving them unable to damage enemies and likely to die instantly if any of the vex even looked in their direction. But we started to plan a bit - really, we could do every encounter with just 5 people. We'd have to protect the blueberry, but that could be done, theoretically.

I think, in the end, we came to the conclusion that we'd try it, but they weren't likely to stick through it. After all, we weren't (and never did) using the in-game VC, or text chat. The two of us hanging out with them in the Cosmodrome sent a fireteam invite. And the blueberry accepted. So we joined the rest of the team in orbit, and launched Vault of Glass.

I could go into our specific strategies for each encounter, but for the most part it was pretty same-y. We'd use emotes and shooting to get the blueberry into a defensible position, then 5-man the encounter. And somehow, this worked. I have taught many, many people many raids in my time (including many people from this friend group!), and I have never seen someone pick up so quickly on what we needed them to do. With no actual words passing! An absolute, biggest-brained legend of a guardian.

We did get this guy all the way to Aetheon. And with some tricks (and good RNG), we were able to even defeat Aetheon. With some random blueberry nobody knew, or talked to! Unfortunately, they didn't get Mythoclast (can you imagine, though!), but they did celebrate with us with their default dance emote, and we all went our seperate ways. Nobody friended them, we just re-released them into the Cosmodrome like they hadn't just helped us save all of time or whatever the point of Vault of Glass is.

Now, perhaps this was a returning player, or someone on a new alt, who already kinda or entirely knew what was going on. But there's no real way of knowing, and it's just as (if not more) likely that this was a brand new player. Can you imagine what kind of a 'first experience' that new player had with the game? How puzzlingly odd to begin with, developing into concern as the activity we brought them to was clearly beyond them, to the 'fuck it we ball' attitude to stick with it all the way through. A true champion.

And imagine the lore perspective too. Fresh guardian, still got gravesoil in their armor, hasn't been to the tower yet, and they get scooped up into the Vault of Glass? Battle Aetheon? AND WIN!? The reaction from Shaw, or hell, the Vanguard as a whole would be amazing. Our guardians getting reprimanded for taking some fresh new light and dragging them through such a crazy difficult experience they weren't prepared for. Fun stuff to think about.

I wonder how that player is doing now. If they still play, how this particular experience flavored their perception of the game and its community. I know the community at large can be extremely toxic (and worse), but I still strive to embody the community impression we made on that day. Patience and Understanding, being goofy and silly about it, inclusive and kind. Dunno, maybe that's just me being sappy about a fun memory with friends gone by.

can i handle the seasons of my life? by buoyantsaturn has will as a burnt out child star and is now in college, so *technically* he's not a popstar (aside from his previous dcom songs) but!! it is still one of my favorite all time fics and has some aspects of the fame au!

he was seen on occasion (pacing the rocks, staring out at the midnights sea) by stargirltv IS!!!! one of the greatest popstar au's ever. like, nico's a bedroom pop artist, but i'd be so lying if i didn't say this partly inspired talk your talk (even tho ngl, i picture every single one of my favorite characters as popstars, it's my favorite passtime) i highly highly highly recommend!!!

as for the other part of the ask, yes i am aroace! and i tend to lean more towards the sex-repulsed side of the asexual spectrum (or rather, it's less discomfort and more just embarrassment to me, like, i just have to cringe whenever reading smut/attempting to write even anything impliedlkjsf) so don't worry about the questions, they don't make me that uncomfortable! to answer the question: yes, they probably have lmfao😭 i don't really think about it all that much, but i also don't hc either of them as ace *in this universe* (that is very important, i definitely hc them as ace in other universes) so it has happened by now - as to when/where/how that happened, i will leave that up to you bc i don't think i'll ever actually write it/imply that (i will simply cringe at my keyboard too hard)

As for the Void Jump incident, all of my ocs had to face their families, though the affect this had on them varies. The Chronicler, for instance, doesn't really remember or focus on that part of their life. It happened, but it was a matter of survival, and thus he is not that upset.

Samuel, however...Alright, this might end up being a spoiler, but fuck it: Samuel killed his own maddened parents with a metal pipe with zero remorse. His older brother, Lance, at the time was still figuring out what was going on, and so wanted to find a way to reverse this. Samuel, who saw what their parents did to them for what it was, held no regard for whether it could be reversed. He simply did what he considered was right in the moment, and in fact, that moment was what actually awakened his trickster instincts. Without it, he might not be as sadistic as he is today, or at least he might not have realized it yet.

Currently, none of my Tenno have any religious affiliations. Their gods died long ago in a bloody rebellion and any remnants of dualism have been washed out with time. However, I do have one oc I used in literally one fic with 30 hits and 0 kudos, who is religious. High Priest Alavi, an oversized Narmer deacon who is a Ballas simp through and through, who holds an almost obssesive reverance for Ballas and who genuinely and actually believes in the 'good' Narmer does.

Seeing as most of my Tenno forsook the order of more Lotus-driven Tenno, most of their normal passtimes are their hobbies. From the Chronicler's preservation of documents and facts, to Samuel's pranks, most of what they do is tied to those hobbies. However, I do wanna mention that The Chronicler has a fascination with wildlife.

As for where they feel most safe, ill just put it as a list since its cut and dry:

Operator Chronicler- The Orb Vallis. A place of immense beauty, and one that reminds him of his guilt (which to him is a good thing)

Drifter Chronicler- Duviri and their shared Dormizone, both places make for great labs.

Samuel- Cetus. The atmosphere is nice, it has a lot of venomous, spiky and infective wildlife and flora (perfect for pranks), and the food is really good too. Also stops by Deimos here and there to pick up some caustic cryptilex to keep his supply topped off (his favorite prank is to drop the acid spewing mites on his victims).

Lance- I would have to say, probably Lua. Because he was raised as a suckup to orokin virtues, and thus really enjoys reminding himself of the ideals he strives for.

INTERVIEW: below read more cuz im a yapperrr

Rory smiles warmly at the stranger that sits across from him, a friendliness in his expression that almost hides the sharp calculation in his eyes. Ah... or were you just imagining that..? It's gone as soon as you noticed it... He really does seem nice enough as he idly plays with the straw that sits in his milkshake.

Q: Let's start off with a brief introduction. -shuffles papers-

"Of course!" He nods his head, leaning forward ever so slightly. "Rory. R-O-R-Y." He spells it out, making sure the interviewer jots it down before nodding, satisfied. "You'd be surprised how often people spell it with an i."

Q: How would you describe yourself?

"Hmm!" He's still just stirring his drink, thinking about it. "I don't know, really..! There's nothing really special about me. I'm just a chill guy who likes reading. I like to think I'm pretty easygoing... maybe even friendly? Reliable too, I'd hope!" He shakes his head with a laugh, placing a hand on his cheek. "Geez, but that makes me sound pretty full of myself, doesn't it?"

Q: What's your height?

"Hmm, I think my last checkup had me at 180cm..?" Or 5'10", give or take.

Q: Boy or girl?

"Boy, last I checked!" He laughs like it was a joke, seemingly thinking it should be obvious just looking at him. It's pretty clear that the thought of exploring his gender has never really crossed his mind.

Q: What do you do to relax?

Well, that's a good question, isn't it?

Of course, he's not going to answer that truthfully. He can't just tell a complete stranger that his ideal passtime is staring at dead bugs, after all. That does tend to raise red flags pretty early in a conversation...

Not to mention the other pretty little things he likes staring at.

"Like I mentioned earlier, I like to read." He lies instead.

Q. What's your Favorite Color?

"Green." He answers automatically. Didn't have to consider that one... but judging from the distant way he glances out the window, it's clear he's thinking about it now.

Q: Do you want a hug? x3

His attention snaps back to the interviewer, and for a second there's a barely concealed look of pure disgust in his eyes. Just a second though, before he's tilting his head, giving an awkward and slightly concerned looking smile. "Me? No, I was just thinking. Don't you worry about me!"

Q: What's your favorite food?

He forces himself to relax, to appear all warm and friendly again after that little... hiccup. "Oh, I'll eat just about anything. I do prefer savoury foods, though." He doesn't care, it doesn't matter in the slightest. Still, it's all about appearances, isn't it?

Q: Do you love anyone? If so who? -raises eyebrow-

His eyes widen slightly, an unidentifiable gleam to them. It feels...

Dangerous.

But he covers his mouth, hides the smile like he's shy about it. And he nods his head.

"Yeah... there's a certain butterfly I have my eye on." He admits, a certain tenderness sneaking into his tone.

Q: Do you have any kids?

He just laughs at that and shakes his head, watching to make sure the interviewer jots down a clear no.

Q: Have you ever killed anyone?

He flinches, and shakes his head. "No, of course not." Surprisingly, that's the truth. At least, he thinks so.

Maimed, certainly. But killed? Ah... not that he's aware of.

Q: Do you hate anyone?

"Geez, these questions got dark pretty quick, don'tcha think?" Rory exhales, but he doesn't actually answer the question. He doesn't quite think he could lie convincingly about this one.

Q: Have any deep dark secrets?

He glances over his shoulder, shuffling forward a little and tapping a finger to his lips in a hushing gesture. He leans forward over the table, and drops his voice to a whisper, making sure nobody but the interviewer would hear.

"I skip classes sometimes... I'll claim I'm going to the nurse, but I'm not. Don't tell anyone, okay?"

Of course, he has much, much worse things going on. But you'd have to torture that information out of him to get him to drop this sugary sweet façade.

Q: Do you have any bad habits?

"Mm... have a tendency to chew on the inside of my cheeks when I'm stressed." He nods, again offering partial truths to keep the real sick shit to himself. "The skin around my nails isn't safe either... ah, but I'm trying to work on that!" No he isn't.

Q: Do you play any instruments?

"Hahh, I wish. I've never had any sense of rhythm, unfortunately." He shakes his head. Rory spends his time quite differently... no time for musical pursuits.

Q: What's your favorite thing to do?

"Aside from reading? Hmm... I go to the arcade sometimes... and I like the park. Sometimes I go mushroom picking, when the season's right."

Q: Where do you think you'll be in ten years?

"Ahh, I've never known how to answer questions like this..." He laughs softly. "I like to think I'll have some stability... maybe even a family, if I'm real lucky." He sounds hopeful there, but it's clear he's chewing on the inside of his cheek as he thinks about it. So he probably isn't very confident in that, as things are now...

Q: Thank you for answering these questions! That'll be all! :D

Rory seems relieved, but he doesn't let it show for long. "Mm! And thank you for the milkshake." He raises the untouched drink, before standing, taking it with him. "You have a lovely day, y'hear? And stay safe out there~."

Hmmm now THIS is a question. The most indecisive one so far, I've switched out the order so many times while working on it. But there is a correct answer, given that not that long ago I just reblogged an unrelated post commenting that I needed to be friends with him IRL haha.

5. Makoto — I'm not sure whether the sweet pool boys really get to qualify as "love interests", but out of the three with endings I probably liked Makoto the most. Unfortunately, he also would probably annoy the hell out of me 😂 I think it would look much like him trying to hang out with Youji: he yammers a stream of rumors or jokes or what-have-you at some fast food place he's dragged us to while I respond next to nothing in the one-sided conversation. He seems like he has the kind of outgoing energy that comes off overwhelming instead of contagious. In groups he might be fun, but one on one we'd probably get along the least.

4. Rin — Togainu no Chi is the only one where my favorite LI as a character is different than my favorite protag ship, because while I'm a sucker for childhood friends, sorry Keisuke you're kind of boring as hell. I had Rin in last place originally, but the more I think about it, I actually think he might be really enjoyable. He's outgoing and pushy, but he kind of uses it to establish that he calls the shots in this social setting and will shut shit down if someone is overstepping. He expresses his fondness by mocking friends, but he also has a quiet, contemplative side, and he goes out of his way to make sure others are comfortable even though he stands to gain nothing from it. He would make an excellent bitchy coworker, as evidenced by Chiral Café.

3. Koujaku — Koujaku is a sweetheart. I love him. He's an excellent friend, he's loyal, funny, honest... but he's also a frat bro type with a ~chivalrous womanizer~ persona. I feel like his passtime of choice is probably pub crawl. He also smokes, though he seems pretty considerate about it. Maybe I'm being too harsh on him; if he's already dating Aoba at that point he might be more tolerable, it could be fun to have him as a gossipy gay hairdresser and he seems the type to go out of his way to do something YOU enjoy if you're spending time together. Hitting up festivals with him actually sounds like a good time as long as he's not treating me like his fangirls.

2. Asato — I'm torn as to whether Asato would be a nightmare to hang out with or if his inherent charm would be enough to make him the ideal choice. He may be difficult to hold a conversation with, and you'd have to be on guard for property damage from both his anxious scratching habit and his general naiveté, but he's often content with just chilling quietly and sharing an activity or a space without needing to make a big deal out of it. He would probably love just sharing interests with each other; ramble to him about that new book you like or teach him the basics of that one hobby, he'll listen to you for hours. Also I feel like having to go about my day periodically taking stock of my windows in case of upside-down kitty jumpscare would be a good kind of whimsy right now

1. Rei — Oh my god, I love Rei to death. Rei is half the reason any of this happened, I bought surodame mostly for him. He is way too good a friend, he's always so considerate and doting to practically anyone he crosses paths with. He is limp-wrist camp gay and walks around with sweater paws half the time, leather the other half. He spends his free time beating the shit out of dudes for fun then goes home to be a big sensitive ball of anxiety and self-doubt. I would love to go out for desserts with him and let him do my tattoos + piercings. Help re-dye his hair while he vents about Taku and Towa. Sleepovers with completely overkill skincare routines and cheesy games of truth or dare. Queer to queer communication.

Katherine Hillard Headcanons

-Katherine's favorite passtime honestly revolves around collecting things, mainly after becoming a ranger her interest peaked on the mysteries of the world so now her curiosity is unlimited.

-Both her and Kimberly have found ways to split the pink powers via the Thunder and ninja zords of their respective colors thus putting Zordon's research on too much pink power to a rest. However they still try to keep things to a minimum.

-Because of the phoenix properties of her zord Katherine has found good usage of bringing life to plants, she doesn't mind volunteering at an orphanage and with her abilities she's able to secretly make sure none of the kids starve.

-After Zeo she's had a hatred of Artifical Intelligence and Tommy had to keep her from smashing up all the appliances in her house.

-She hates the moon.

-Pink isn't exactly her favorite color, in fact Kat was offered the position as zeo red in secret by Tommy but she declined it.

-After the Zordon Era pretty much everyone went their separate ways for a while and similar to Tommy she found herself becoming a mentor for a group of younger rangers. A team based on constellations who each had a secret archery motif, she later became a red ranger for the squad and needed to have a master morpher developed as things when on(Referencing Kyuranger, free real estate for them😎).

-Katherine and Tommy took a break around the time of Lost Galaxy and didn't get back together till around Operation Overdrive. During this time however she actually dated Hayley Zitkor and throughout that time span Kat didn't find out that Hayley and Tommy knew each other.

-she's been visited around five times by master pink. Reasons are unknown however it's getting creepy so Katherine managed to put a bunch of net traps around her house incase MP decides to pop in randomly.

-Katherine is one of the most skilled individuals when it comes to shooting guns. Not just that but she's been developing weapons for herself incase another Rita problem shows up, double tap that bitch in the head if you have to. She has to be strapped both for her safety and for her friends(Reference to @skyland2703 headcanon from a while back👍🏾)

-her favorite weapon is a crossbow like sniper rifle called Artemis and it has the power to penetrade 40 zords with one bullet. Due to her sneaking around during Forever Red and collecting pieces of Serpentera she was able to use the samples to make the perfect failsafe agaisnt drastic situations.

-Her house is laced in grid vortex bombs, if anything ever happens then she can wipe an enemy of the face of the map.

-Kat's the dude in her relationship with Tommy if you catch my drift😭

-It's not she's capable of getting revenge but more of the idea of her making you regret your decisions in a subtle way. A guy stood Billy up so Kat decided to scratch the guy's car paint and burst his tires.

-In her will when she dies she wants the team to spread her ashes in space or even find a way to bring her back for another 5 years.

-After hearing about the existence of other dimensions Katherine has a contingency plan. If things go to shit then there's other places to find a life in, heck she'd also consider the future or the RPM verse.

-Kat doesn't really talk about it but she has trouble having kids with Tommy. Heck JJ was came 7 amounts early and doctors weren't sure he'd make it so she stayed by his little bed in the hospital for weeks until he was healthy.

-She made sure to tell Tommy not to pass on any of their ranger abilities to JJ. Mainly as their own legacy should be there to influence him, pass on an opportunity for him to build his own choices if he does decide to pursue ranger activity.

-Kat was thrilled when JJ came back from school shouting about wanting to be the pink ranger after seeing a cool video on these heroes called the power rangers. Tommy was uh...well he's supportive but he just didn't want to see his kid being made fun off and tried to lean him to another color but Kat shut that down, both of them came to an agreement that he could be pink.

-She replaced her left arm and right leg with advanced robotic versions resembling regular limbs but this was because she wanted standby weapons to shift out incase of combat.

-People in the ranger community consider her a harbinger of sorts because of her battle prowess and wouldn't back down to beating someone bloody for threatening her family.

-Kat loves a lot of rock and roll music as well as things with a fast tempo.

-She's the one which a driver's license, Tommy's has been suspended after he accidentally backed into an old lady think she was a trash can for parallel parking.

-Zordon having the rangers choose Katherine, Aisha, Rocky and Adam as secondary choices weren't out of coincidence. Centuries ago he tried recruiting their ancestors and secretly kept an eye on them, however at the time humans weren't adept to the grids influence and they became prone to natural exposure and got pretty sick, this was around 10,000 years ago anyway and while Katherine doesn't have much of a grudge against him she isn't hesitant about wanting to shoot that tank.

-Kat is very bisexual, Tommy wasn't exactly her first choice relationship wise and even considered dating Kimberly or Tanya though she's chill with the dude.

-Tommy's dating life honestly confuses her, he dated Kimberly and had a thing with Jason(Frankly that didn't surprise her as she got a bit of fruity vibes from Tommy and thought he was full on gay before being alerted that he dated Kim). Then he dated Anton and had her suspicions on what Tommy was into when she found a picture of him tied up in....compromising positionsBottom. Safe to say for gatherings she has the best stories to tell.

-Her parents very much support the idea of her being a power rangers and her dad keeps asking if she has parties with other rangers....also to get zord figures and autographs from the Lightspeed Rescue team.

-After Adam's mishap with his power coin being damaged she decided to utilize what she learned from the Crane Ninjazord and Firebird Thunderzord to pursue learning things at the Wind Academy and Pai Zhua academy to hone elemental and animal spirit abilities. She gained light related powers along with the spirit of the phoenix, fitting for combat as she can obliterate enemies with swift speeds and vaporizing energy.

-She loves dating dudes that are a tad bit strange or shy, they're just adorable in her eyes. Prime example being Tommy, not sure if he should be offended or flattered by this.

-She watches My Hero Academia and has a great admiration for Bunny's persistence.

-Katherine despises barbie dolls but JJ enjoys getting them as figures for imaginary adventures so she allows for him to have them but the minute one begins moving on it's own she's going to shoot that bitch into oblivion.

-She's an expert with hair and easily takes care or Tommy's locks when needed. It's funny to tie it into a bun though the fact that it's almost waist length makes Katherine jealous.

-due to her powers she developed a way of being able to precisely chuck items and projectiles without even touching them, similar to Diego in Umbrella Academy. This is very useful as she won't need to morph if needed and could drawn weapon from a vault she keeps at home.

-After Trini's death Katherine had to oversee Billy in fear that he might shut down due to all the guilt. She knew well on the topic of the only person who truly understood you in the world was gone and even offered a place at her home incase Minh needed somewhere to stay.

-The reason why Master Pink visited her was because of Shattered Grid almost happening again. She explained to Katherine that no one remembers the event as it was a multiverse related conflict of the past so when things ended everything went back to normal, she tasked Kat will trying to keep things from ever ending up as such. This nearly happened in various ways from Billy trying to bring back Trini or Zordon, a huge Zord fight within Angel Grove, having a rogue being nearly disrupt time and space as we know it. Kind of a crazy burden to leave on someone, honestly she couldn't look at Tommy for 4 weeks upon learning about Drakkon.

-She's not the most religious person but she swears that during a trip to the dentist she was visited by an archer deity. Aisha calls her delusional for this but Kat knows what she saw.

-Stocks are a big thing for her and she even has built up a reputation at wall street. (Kat: I can buy and sell you. Stock broker: Excuse me?)

-Katherine has the falcon zord and uses it as spatial transportation. Mainly to take JJ on trips to see the stars etc, it's also a nice getaway from all the stresses of life.

-At one point in her life Katherine considered becoming a hit man against terrible people with her archery and gun skills...though she's never told anyone this. The idea of taking a life away has crossed her mind here and there, however she goes to Dana for therapy on these feelings.

-Tommy is the cook within the family, he learned how to make a bunch of meals well when he was with Jason. Plus after Katherine nearly burned down an acre of land from their house one night she wasn't allowed in the kitchen for months, she finds it funny coming from the guy who dedicated a semester of his career on trying to remake dinosaur meat from bones.

-Katherine has a sort of ranger secret service for herself that not even Tommy knows about. Laced around the place like regular civilians ready to come to her aid.

-She visited the Mystic Mother and human Zedd just to weigh out the situation between them incase anything happens.

-Considering the last headcanon Katherine wonders if the Z-Wave killed all the evil beings within the universe she wonders if any of those beings that were evil consisted of beings that Zordon considered bad, the thought of some innocent people being killed all those years ago or being brainwashed keeps her up at night.

-She is really wondering if all the stuff during the Zordon Era was truly good. Having to fight an eon long war for a floating head against a bunch of crazy beings doesn't sit right with her, in some ways good and bad are basically moral constructs and she doesn't like to judge people on the way they act. Evil rangers, good rangers, the fact about Drakkon who existed in a past existence also bugs her....sometimes she wonders if JJ will end up doing something crazy as a ranger.

-Death doesn't really scare her but if anything Katherine would like to keep her memory alive, something that JJ could possibly look over in timed when he's sad or down in life.

-Utilizing grid archives Katherine can watch other teams in different dimensions like shows. For instance super sentai and such, currently she's on Dairanger and the minute she saw those zords....(Kat: That bird looks famil-AYO WHAT THE FUCK?!)

i have been THINKING about your combo classpects, yo, and here’s how i think i’ve figured out how the powers could work:

let’s say you’ve got seer x heir, right? an heir inherits their aspect and a seer understands their aspect. inheriting + understanding = lore-keeping, as you understand ancient knowledge that you inherited. therefore, a monk (seer x heir) would utilize their aspect via lore-keeping. they understand how their aspect was utilized in the past, and use that understanding to see their aspect in a new light!

another example: rogue x heir! a rogue distributes and an heir inherits. when you combine those, imo, you get emanating. therefore the beacon (combo of rogue x heir) passively emanates their aspect, spreading it relentlessly and having a massive store of it themselves!

i attended a fundraising gala for the non profit I work at last night

it was my first time at that sort of event, and my first time actually being around real life rich people. Talking to them, hearing them speak, seeing how they behave from up close, rather than through a screen or retelling. They're mostly decent and nice people, but there were one kinda quirky observation I had.

Rich people love to clap. I swear to God their favorite passtime is clapping for each other. And even when they were applauding for the actual Americorps workers who actually did the labor for the nonprofit (and were waiting on the event), it had such an air of condescension. Like "ah yes, good job poors!" Every time I heard them break into self-satisfied applause during a speech by either a staff member or corps worker, it had the undertone of "I didn't do any work or make the world a tangibly better place and this lack of genuine impact on the world despite my mountain of horded wealth has left me feeling existentially unfulfilled and inexplicably guilty, but I'm clapping for the people doing the work so I get to feel just as good, and satisfied in myself!" It's all just self gratification and naval gazing. Like they want to be justified in being a rich parasite
