I don't listen to a lot of music period. I can't focus on reading when it's on and if it's playing in the room when I'm doing something else, I usually automatically tune it out. I think a weak point of Ever After High as a show and the reason why I think the fandom sucks at handling the Royal-Rebel conflict is that

EAH put way too much emphasis on the Royals. ESPECIALLY in the specials.

Like yeah you had Raven, and sometimes you would get stuff focused on Cerise or Cedar but for the most part, most of the character stuff happens with Royals. We have Apple, Briar, Ashlynn, Blondie, the Charmings, Lizzie. So much of the focus is on the people who are at the top(aka rich). Even the only Rebel that gets significant attention is rich as well being the daughter of the Evil QUEEN and the Good KING

I see people in the fandom constantly not be sympathetic towards the Pied Piper and paint them as the only person in the wrong when I see no one talk about how the Mayor of Hamelin is the reason why the children were taken. The People of Hamelin have to be fearful of the day hundreds and hundreds of rats invade their village. They have to sit there and watch as the person who helped them with their infestation have to take their children because THEIR MAYOR is destined to not pay them the amount that they owed them.

And the Pipers seemingly don’t like their destinies. The original Piper probably only took the kids until the Mayor paid them as a lesson to not pay the amount that you promised. Oh but because the Pied Piper isn’t a Royal(rich) that means he was the only one in the wrong.

In universe, Sparrow gets put in General Villainy even tho the character of Robin Hood is famously known to aid the poor and in need. Oh no but because he robs from the rich then he HAS to be a villain!!! It’s not like Robin Hood is supposed to be a hero of the people and not the 1%!!!

The tyrannical Queen of Hearts and the abusive Duchess are allowed to stay tyrannical and abusive because not only is it their “destiny”, they have power and money. In the meta of the show, a harmless trickster is much more worthy of being treated as an awful villain more than a murder happy Queen.

The curriculum is mainly centered around Royalty and even classes that should be for everyone like Muse-ic class is implied to need pressure to even let Rebels take it even tho a Rebel is literally teaching it. Pied Piper wouldn’t be able to teach his OWN DAUGHTER Muse-ic all because they aren’t Royals

And this reflects in the fandom too. People only care about how sad the Royal’s destinies are and rarely ever concentrate on the Rebels that aren’t Raven Queen. On the rare occasion, you’ll get a little bit of Cerise. Anyone else? Absolutely irrelevant

And it sucks cause I generally think that exploring the feelings of the Rebels about the system that hurts them the most. But no. We just get the 100th episode about Apple and her possee

This is just something I wrote after consuming too much poetry (I tried okay?)

I think Eddie would like Bukowski.

“I’ve read bukowski,” she starts, up on the stage with her hair swept up behind her head, her bangs tickling her eyelashes as her eyes look downward to focus on the words she had previously written on the page, “and I’ve seen what Dickinson had to say. Two thoroughly different viewpoints, differing outlooks on love. With no more in agreement than that it exists. A man who talks of lovers and sparrows, and the whores and the pigeons. And a girl who speaks of death and men, and her garden and love.”

Jeff’s face was screwed up and gareth was shaking his head.

Eddie had read bukowski.

Eddie had referenced bukowski.

Hidden in the folds of a guitar riff and rock ballad were the stanzas to The Twins.

“Bukowski is an empty bar and a calloused hand and Dickinson is a robin at a bird bath and a carriage ride with an old friend. Perspective is a mistress who never appears the same for more than a month. She changes as the wind does, ebbs and flows depending on her mood.”

Eddie didn’t understand the entire point of the girl’s rambling.

Then again he wasn’t meant to be here. He was supposed to be an hour away in a hotel with a cigarette. Maybe a joint.

A flat tire had landed him on the side of the road, band members and equipment in tow. A bus of college students drove them into town, grant found a phone and called someone to help get the van but until they got it into town the guys were here.

They had watched the students go up one by one and read off nonsensical passages in their journals.

Eddie hadn’t been paying attention until the pretty girl came up on stage. Her sweaters hem a few inches above that of her skirt and her black nail polish chipped as she avoided the gaze of the crowd and flipped through her notebooks pages.

Her notebook was covered in doodles of different flowers and fish and post-it notes bloomed from the top of the thing until about halfway through where the pages were pristine and likely unused.

What had mainly caught his attention were the tattoos on her legs. Different patches of sharks and flowers adorned her skin. One in particular went from just above her knee and crept around the back of her thigh and up into her skirt.

He wanted to see what the rest of it looked like, what images the upper expanse of her thighs might be hiding and did her arms match?

“Perspective changes when she pleases. One day she can be the same as ever, grass is grass and flowers bloom and babies laugh, and the next maybe the grass weeds and flowers wilt and babies wail and fuss. A year is a week, a day is a decade. Your grandparents got married yesterday and you broke up with your ex a lifetime ago. Grass is grass, it’s meant to hold the dirt together, grass is weeds meant to invade your fathers yard so you never stop hearing about them. Babies laugh and babies cry but you don’t have to worry about that because you’re single and might die alone so you might never have babies. Your boyfriend was your everything and now your ex is the reason you smoke. Etc.”

She ends her rambling and closes her journal, looking to the rest of the small bar for critiques and hopefully some encouragement.

“It could use some clarity.” A boisterous voice pipes up and Eddie scans the crowd for the perpetrator.

A guy with thick rimmed glasses and patchy stubble stares up at her, his face the picture of audacity.

“I thought her point was perfectly clear.” Eddie shrugs and the guy looks over at Eddie before sighing.

“Her transitions weren’t clear, her sentences could be more concise. Her rambling could be poetry if it were only a bit more clear.” The guy offers.

“Or you could argue that adopting the style of bukowski and melding it with the imagery Dickinson was prone to using.” Eddie argues and the guy pauses thoughtfully, his lips pressing into a thin line as he pulls together his thoughts.

Gareth and Jeff exchange a look of confusion at Eddie's knowledge of poetry and literature while Grant seems to be enthralled with the argument between the two boys.

“That’s a good take. I just mean that the initial examples of Dickinson and Bukowski could be better transitioned into her next points about perspective.”

Eddie nods, “I could see why you would make that argument but I kinda like the rambling. She’s writing how she thinks. Thoughts don’t always transition seamlessly, I think it’s pretty cool to just hear someone’s thoughts on a subject and I like that she gets you to think about it yourself.”

“I guess that’s just perspective for you.” The guy shrugs and Eddie grins, silently agreeing with him.

Eddie turns his attention to the girl in front of the class, “the personal touches were nice. Your writing was relatable. My uncle is probably outside our house fighting with the weeds right now.”

The girl smiles, “thank you, Eddie.”

Eddies eyebrows raise at his name. He didn’t know how she knew it but fuck did it sound nice when she said it. She smiled and stared at him through her bangs, pulling her notebook to her chest to discreetly reveal the doodle of corroded coffins' first album cover.

She stands up and goes back to her seat. The next person comes up but Eddie isn’t paying any attention to whatever they have to say.

He’s too stuck on her. Too obsessed with never letting his eyes leave her to even consider whatever the fuck the asshole on stage has to say.

He wants to try and talk tk her after all of the readings are through but as the students file onto the bus grant blocks his view of her, letting him and the guys know that the van is in the shop at the moment getting the tire changed and they should able to get back on the road in an hour or two.

By the time Eddie looks up from grant the bus doors are closing the girl is gone.

nhell rivers has lots of scarring on her body, especially the right side because of an explosion that was so powerful it blown off her arm and she made herself (with help) a metal arm in place of the missing arm (spoilers: the cause of said explosion was a firework from one of the enemy's grunts but the firework was more explosive than expected).

nhell rivers is also pretty much deaf in her right ear.

kaoru takamura is actually so psychopathic (needs to be in a mental hospital) that she mostly acts and appears “normal” to almost everyone, though that may or may not be a front she skillfully puts on. anyone who do know kaoru well enough mainly avoid her for good reasons, she doesn't care enough to be sad lol.

melaine harrison likes to go cloud gazing by herself since she hates loud noises and most of her friends are too much of a nuisance for her to focus and peaceful relax.

melaine harrison has a scar on the left side of her face that she got from a forest fire (yes, she lives in the woods with her parents that are still alive after the incident).

evgenia yefimova hates blue fire because it reminds her of the day her home burned down alongside her parents and younger sister, miriam—yet she uses blue fire against her opponents and enemies with her urumi sword.

freya danesworth is a short half-sparrow human, and they work as a delivery guy to earn money for a café called Artful Dreams which she works for as a side-job.

brooklyn is pretty much fearful of basically nothing except she fears breaking promises, and she's also a clean freak too- but not the obnoxious type of freak, like, “oh you stepped on a perfectly clean floor with your muddy shoes and thats okay itll be cleaned up in no time” type of freak.

brooklyn loves cleaning actually and is skilled in getting rid of messes she made during her murders and killings.

also part of kaoru and nhell's relationship (somewhat) summarized:

nhell: *gets down on one knee* kaoru: oh my god, it's finally happening! nhell: *falls over* kaoru: the poison is kicking in!!

sucrose qu-yang cannot say no, ever. people thinks she's cursed with that inability but no she just has anxiety x10.

oscar wilde and sucrose qu-yang are besties actually and both work in the same work place, probably gossip and talk about oscar's works (both of them are writers).

penni pennington has a bottle cap collection and refuses to show anyone except for his mother, merryy, cuz she's so nice and radiates warmth—probably named a red jet bird he found after her.

penni pennington has a scottish accent mixed with a swiss accent and speaks so joyously, he never is ever seen mad or the least bit annoyed.

celen nishiruka & kaname nishiruka are opposites like the moon and the sun; kaname is a lot more expressive than celen who is more reserved and stoic—and they're so young too!

krystian karmazin's first name literally means “follower of christ” since he came from a very religious family yet ironically the ukrainian man himself is an atheist and a silly jester who follows no rules (but will respect boundaries and pronouns).

if miriam yefimova happened to have survived the All Blue Fire, she would've been a spy working in the same group of evgenia yefimova who works as an assassin.

both miriam & evgenia yefimova don't like pirozhki that have mushrooms as the filling because both the sisters have allergies towards mushrooms (aka, they both dislike mushrooms).

coventina blackwood likes ghosts and spirits or anything transparent object/creature, and her skill revolves around spirits but they're mainly just arms (kind of like the hana hana no mi, eaten by nico robin).

benjamin baker is the shortest male character (152 cm, 5'0") while krystian karmazin is the tallest (228 cm, 7'6"). kaoru takamura is the tallest female character (211 cm, 6'11), compared to freya danesworth (159 cm, 5'2").

if competing in a competition where who is the most stoic, both evgenia yefimova and izu mikazuki are both tied as the most non-expressive people.

izu mikazuki has been mistaken so much as a woman that he just simply accepted that he'll always be woman in the eyes of people at first glance (he's a male assigned at birth).

Meet the Clans - TimberClan

🌲Territory

Forest, towering redwood and sequoia trees. The ground is covered in lush green ferns. The terrain is rather rocky, with many ravines and gorges. Series of small creeks wind through the territory, fed by the nearby mountain range in GlacierClan.

🌲 Camp

Treetop camp – A camp among a cluster of redwood trees with two levels. Each den has a lower portion, which is housed in the hollowed out trunks of the trees, and an upper portion, which is located in the lower branches of the tree. The upper portion is used during Newleaf, Greenleaf, and Leaf-fall and good weather, while the lower portions are used during Leafbare and in bad weather.

🌲 Landmarks

Twoleg path - a well maintained hiking trail. Twolegs often hike it during the warmer months, but rarely stray from the path.

Twoleg Place - a campsite with seven cabins, one of which is inhabited by a park ranger year round. People flock to it during newleaf and greenleaf. Has a small garden with some useful herbs.

Redwood Bridge - a large fallen redwood that creates a bridge across the Summit River to the gathering island. TimberClan and occasionally GlacierClan uses it to attend gatherings.

Hidden Grotto - a patch of wet woodland and cave where strange plants grow.

Wet, flipping between cool and warm in Newleaf, warm and wet in Greenleaf, cool in Leaf-fall, and cold and sometimes snowy in Leafbare.

After a long and insufferable monarchy, the new leader, daughter of the old monarch, decreed that any cat that is a warrior may nominate themselves to be the deputy of the clan. The clan has a quarter moon to dispute any nomination, after which the clan will vote with a Rank Voting ballot to determine the next depute.

Color Festival- Once a full moon cycle is completed after New Leaf, TimberClan gathers all things colorful (mainly flowers) where apprentices are tasked to sort out and organize all the material. They are hoisted into the trees where they are stored throughout the first moon cycle of new leaf. Cats are encouraged to decorate themselves as colorfully or as creatively as they can, and on the first high sun after a new moon, the material in the trees is released to a marvelous and beautiful cascade of colors in celebration of the new life that comes every year to TimberClan.

Festival of Wood- On the first day after the second full moon of Leaf-fall, cats come together to help the Carpenter cats raise new dens up into the treetops. If no additional dens are needed, new ones are made to replace any unstable ones. This day is usually accompanied by a small feast once the new dens are properly installed.

Night of Stars- On the first new new moon of Leafbare when the stars shine their brightest, the clan gathers at the top of the trees near Treetop camp, and tell stories of their loved ones who have joined The Ancestors. Cats are encouraged to bring snacks as they often end up falling asleep throughout the storytelling.

🌲 Specialized Role

Carpenters - The highly skilled TimberClan carpenters are excellent at making tools and trinkets out of wood. These highly skilled carpenters have helped TimberClan easily adapt to their tree nests in winter and help defend their warriors with wooden armor.

I've been struggling with my LGBTQIA+ identity lately, and I need some help. I'm genderfluid, my gender changes frequently, mainly encompassing men, women, non-binary/gender-neutral, and agender/gendervoid. I'm transmasculine, presenting androgynously. I prefer gender-neutral titles like Mx. over Mrs. or Mr. I like he/they, I have some dysphoria with feminine pronouns, so I use them less. I like neopronouns but don't use them much since most people IRL aren't familiar with them.

I'm having an identity crisis that was caused from stress from school and work. So, I'm like re-inventing my identity. I need name ideas. The individual is genderfluid, preferring gender-neutral names. I'm passionate about social justice, inclusivity, and personal growth. I assumed they were simply wet or oiled. Because I've seen plenty of eggs in person - chicken, guinea, goose, duck, robin, killdeer, quail, sparrow, starling, peafowl, emu, ostrich, and some unknowns in songbird nests - and seen others (mainly raptors) on nature shows, and they were uniformly dull/matte.

Are you going to be busy tomorrow? Not really. I'll be at the animal shelter from 7-11am, but after that I'm free to do whatever.

What was the last topic you read about on Wikipedia? I rarely ever look anything up on Wikipedia, so I have no idea what it would have been.

Have you ever donated money to Wikipedia? No.

Is your country part of the Commonwealth? It's not.

Around what time of the year do you start your Christmas shopping? Last Christmas was the first time in years that I did any gift-related shopping. My dad and I don't exchange gifts, but I've been back in touch with my mom since last summer, so I decided to get her a few things. As for decorations, I started shopping (as well as putting things up) around October. I know that's basically anathema to some, but I just know how fast the holiday season flies by and I actually wanted a chance to appreciate them. :') Additional info that no one asked for: many of the holiday decorations we own are from my childhood, so they're rather old, dusty, broken, etc. I decided last year to start building up my own little stash, and last year's focus was Xmas. This year, I'm going to focus more on Halloween or Thanksgiving, so they'll hopefully get their chance in the spotlight this upcoming season.

Do you have blinds or curtains on your windows? There are blinds on most of the windows, but there's a small curtain in the kitchen window.

What are the most common birds you'd see around your home? Mourning doves, grackles, robins, sparrows, hawks, bluejays, etc.

Did you sleep well last night? Yeah.

Did you live within walking distance of school when you were a kid? Technically yes. It probably would have taken me around 30-40 minutes to walk to my elementary school, but I took the bus.

What board games did you play when you were growing up? Monopoly, Parcheesi, Trouble, Mousetrap, Checkers, Yahtzee…

When was the last time you bought new clothes? What did you get? Three polo style shirts - two black and one light blue. Mainly for wearing to the animal shelter if my shelter shirts happen to be dirty or if I just want to change things up a bit.

What, other than books, do you have on your bookshelves? A ceramic pipe that my dad painted when I was a teen, a branch of dried cottonwood leaves, an unknown bone, a clamshell that often holds my rings, a sprig of fake lilacs, and a stuffed kitty doorstopper (it used to have a brick in the bottom, but that ripped out; now I just use the brick by itself and the cat is stashed on the bottom shelf).

Do you ever watch streamers on Twitch? No.

How close are your nearest neighbours? I live in a pretty typical suburban neighborhood, so…just imagine that level of closeness, I guess…?

Has your house ever been broken into? How did you find out? In a sense, but it's not a story I feel like telling.

What do you usually eat for breakfast? Oatmeal with fruit, peanut butter, carnation instant breakfast, and chocolate syrup. It's pretty much always some variation of that; I hardly ever eat anything else.

What's the first thing your hand touches if you reach to the left? A travel coffee mug. It's got a sort of marbled design on it.

Describe your favourite mug or cup. I have this huge red mug decorated with gingerbread houses that I use for my oatmeal, as well as another white mug with a kitty on it that says "Meowy Christmas."

If you could teleport to any country right now for a holiday, what would it be? Japan. Except I wouldn't want to go right now; I would prefer to go in spring or autumn.

Are you overwhelmed right now? Not exactly. It's more like I'm on the verge of feeling overwhelmed because I'm constantly pushing my physical/emotional/social limits in order to strengthen them. Like, I'm generally fine, but if I were to pile even a couple more activities on top of what I'm doing now, I think I would approach burnout.

Did you share a bedroom with someone when you were growing up? I did share a room with my mom when we lived in an apartment when I was a teen, but as for my childhood, I had my own room.

How many group chats are you in? Do you participate in them much? I'm not in any. That is one of my reservations when it comes to one day working at the animal shelter, though - the constant, off-the-rails group chats. Cassie was saying the other day how she was getting texts at 7am on her day off and she was just like…I don't want to see a picture of a dog in a pool; I'm trying to sleep! And frankly, I don't blame her. That dog photo would be a whole lot cuter in the middle of the day, but if I'm trying to sleep, fvck absolutely off, lmao. You're practically tethered to your phone, though, just in case something comes in that's actually relevant.

What's the best concert you ever went to? I've never really been to any memorable concerts.

Do you like to watch subtitled movies? I don't watch a whole lot of movies, but I don't mind if they have subtitles.

Are you still in touch with any of your exes? No.

How old were you when the first American Pie movie came out? I'm not sure.

Do you know how to change the oil in a car? What about a flat tyre? No.

What do you do for work? I volunteer at an animal shelter, in their cattery. I clean colonies/kennels (which involves wiping down surfaces/cat towers/etc, refreshing food and water, cleaning litter boxes, changing blankets, and that sort of thing). I also do basic housekeeping stuff like washing dishes/scoops, sweeping, mopping, laundry, taking out trash… Oh, and on Fridays, we have to weigh everybody, which is always an adventure. :')

Almost Half of All UK Bird Species in Decline

Bird populations in the UK continue to rapidly decline with almost half of all bird species between 2015 and 2020 in decline, with woodland bird species being the most affected. This is urgent. IT IS TIME TO PULL BACK.

New data released by the UK government reveals that 48% of bird species have shown a decrease in just five years between 2015 and 2020.

The RSPB Annual Garden Wildlife Survey

The RSPB has also released the results of their annual garden wildlife survey, the Big Garden Birdwatch. It found that house sparrows were the most spotted bird for the twentieth year running, but since the survey began in 1979, almost 60% have been lost from UK gardens. Over the last 57 years it is thought that nearly 22 million house sparrows are believed to have disappeared from the country.

Why are UK birds declining?

According to wildlife experts, habitat loss, mainly driven by changes in agriculture, is one of the biggest drivers of UK bird decline.

This has resulted in farmland birds have suffering the worst declines over the past 50 years, which peaked in the late 1970's and 1980's. This was largely due to the rapid changes in farmland management during the 1950's and 1960's.

The loss of mixed farming, means less diversity of plants and animals and fewer opportunities for birds to forage in different habitats throughout the year. Increased pesticide use has also led to the loss of weeds and insects as a food source, and the increased destruction of hedgerows further reduces the amount of suitable habitat.

But it is woodland birds which have suffered the biggest impact with 59% of species declining between 2015-2020. Some potential causes are a lack of woodland management and pressures from increased deer browsing, reducing the availability of suitable nesting and foraging habitats. The housing crisis and overpopulation is also forcing birds out of what was once their natural habits.

Bird populations are considered a good indication of the broader state of wildlife in the UK. This is because they are a well-studied group that occupies a wide range of habitats and responds to environmental pressures that also impact other wildlife groups.

Researchers have developed a tool that estimates the percentage of natural biodiversity that remains across the world and in individual countries. It revealed that centuries of farming and industry have made the UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in Europe. When compared to the G7 countries, the UK is at the very bottom in terms of how much biodiversity still survives. No one is pulling back, they need to pull back.

Is it all bad news for the UK's birds?

While many of the findings are a cause for concern, the report also highlights some positive trends in bird populations. Although almost half of all species declined between 2015 – 2020, 24% increase during this time.

Positive conservation actions in the past 50 years have helped to drive the recovery of some of the UK's birds. For example, red kites were almost hunted to extinction in the UK, but an intense pioneering reintroduction programme which began in the 1980s has led to their almost miraculous recovery. We need to do more.

What can we do to attract birds into our gardens?

Whether your home is in the countryside or a suburban street, you can attract birds into your garden by following these easy steps. Introduce a water source.

Whether you stand a bird bath in a border or leave out a saucer with fresh water the birds will delight in having a place not only to drink, but to bathe too.

Offer birds a home

Robins, chaffinches, and blackbirds will readily nest in garden hedgerows. For other species, instal nest boxes to attract mating pairs and new families to your garden.

Feeding options

An obvious choice for anyone wishing to attract birds to their garden is to install a bird feeder. Ensure that the feeders are cleaned frequently to prevent the spread of disease between visiting birds.

Fill the feeders with different seeds and mixes depending on the type of birds you wish to attract House sparrows enjoy mixed birdseed, goldfinch are partial to sunflower hearts and Nyjer seeds and blue tits love peanuts, although this is shared by the squirrels.

For the garden birds that are left, you can also help prevent them from becoming dinner by adding a bell to the collars of any household cats. The jingle gives the birds a chance to escape earlier. Please also think about feeding those who do make it to your gardens.

Conclusion

In 2023, these figures will have increased and the decline will be greater. The decrease in birds is largely man-made, also brought about through global-warming, which is heading into free-fall, through an over-population and a housing crisis, where birds are being pushed out of their natural habitats, without us putting on the brakes.

Governments need to make the bird species decline issue a priority, by putting measures in place to save the domestic bird, they're not.

Their decline will have an effect on the way we are able to live our lives moving forward. Lifestyles are very much contributing to their decline.

Lil’ Prophet runs the Delphi section. They are the information center of the gang. They have eyes and ears everywhere mainly in the form of gossipy little old ladies who have lived through everything Gotham has thrown at them and came out stronger.

Sparrow runs the Fledgling division. They are made up of the youngest kids who haven’t mastered the skills needed for the other divisions. Sparrow is basically the Fledglings babysitter who tries to keep the littles out of trouble and teach them new skills.

Lil’ Red runs the Cardinal division. They are the forgers of the gang. You need any paperwork you go to them, drivers licenses, library cards, forged grades, college essays, green cards they do it all.

Annie runs the Baby Bat division. They are the intimidators. They watch over the other kids and act as their giant walks of meat. They took Batman’s scare the criminal scheme and ran with it.

Beam runs the WAR division. They are made up of the remnants of the We Are Robin movement and metas rescued from trafficking rings who had no where else to go.

Alert runs the Foilers division. They directly spy on the enemy and ruin their plans usually by finding someway to get the bats attention. They tend to leave the rogues alone but outsiders and those who target kids are free game.

Nitebrite runs the Wing division. They are parkour/adrenaline junkies that act as the front line fighters. They are always ready to thrown down and act as distractions for the other divisions.

The street kids of Gotham were acting off. Which wasn't saying much considering they were always acting suspicious but for the last few weeks the kids had been acting different somehow. They were a little too organized. Jason finally decided to look into it and found that the street kids really had organized under one leader. Which was concerning to say the least. Jason figured their leader was some asshole who was about to forfeit his rights to knee caps but instead he found it was some spooky teen from out of town. It was still suspicious but he figured as long as the kid wasn't causing any trouble he'd leave things be. For now.
