#it's like i know they look fine bc im using reference but im a massive perfectionist đ
7 Anti LO Asks
1. tbh the fact rachel purposely didnt let persephone have any romantic relationships before hades gives the impression that had persephone had any other experience, she'd see right through him and not want him because she had better. not having any other point of reference isnt good. its setting up that hades can get away with whatever he wants because she doesnt know anything else. thats really not a healthy dynamic to have even while dating, much less eternal marriage.
2. You know whatâs weird? How Hades is a 2000+ year old being and still has not gone through his trauma. We know that he was eaten by Kronos when he was around 8 and stayed there for like 13 years if iâm correct (in the LO version), so we can assume that when he got out he was in his early to mid twenties. And then he fought in the war which we donât know how long it was in LO bc thereâs no info on that at all but letâs assume that that lasted 100 years.. heâs still pretty young there. So how is it that heâs only now getting help for his traumas? Which we donât even see actually, itâs just a sentence said by him when he adopts the little dog. We donât even know how old he actually is bc itâs always assumed itâs 2000+ but 2000+ years old could mean 2030 years old or 2999 years old or even 3000 and more and he has just lost track of time. All of these years and he still has not processed or made any progress?? At all?! Unless therapists are a new thing in the Underworld but we have Chiron who says that she was a physician in the old world but got tired of it so she decided to study the human mind. And that must have been quite some time ago. So why exactly is Hades a 2000+ broken man who needs to be fixed by a 19 year old going through her own trauma?Â
3. The underworld being an infertile world doesnât make sense at all. If we compare the underworld with the underground itâs a fact that where thereâs decay if is more fertile. Not to mention that in the myths the underworld is in fact considered a fertile land. We know that the underworld is full of souls, and souls are considered what give life to a body or place, so the underworld being a desert still doesnât make sense at all.Â
4.If I may also add, just because LO is a âretellingâ doesnât mean it doesnât harm Greece or Greek people. They still exist, funnily enough, they didnât all die once Alexander the Great stop conquering. Theyâre a country full of strong, passionate people who have gone and are still going through massive problems and hardships. They are also a country who are still, at best, ignored, or at worst, mocked for the suffering they must endure by nations that are far from economic instability and from actual war zones like Greece is. Despite all that, their mythos are seen with great reverence to this day, and they donât âgatekeepâ it, you can ask any Greek in here and theyâll tell you they enjoy stuff like the Disney version or PJO just fine, but you have to stop and wonder why LO is a Greek myth product that is almost universally despised to Greeks who know it exists.
Itâs pretty obvious why, RS not only butchers the myths completely to where they donât even resemble what they once were, but her constantly silencing and badmouthing actual Greeks who want to help her make it more accurate is not a great look. Sheâs acting as if she, a white woman from an island made of literal England reject descendants, somehow not only knows more about Greek myth than actual Greeks, but that she OWNS the mythology and she can do whatever she wants with it, and only those who agree to her biases know what theyâre talking about while everyone else is wrong, so obviously Greeks donât know Greek mythology! Even media products in the same, non-Greek realm as her get her ire. Case in point, we know sheâs hostile to PJO, she badmouths the Disney movie all the time, she complained about Blood of Zeus (emphasize on ZEUS) didnât revolve around HxP, and despite them being heavily promoted by her own employers, she never speaks of Punderworld or HxP ficlets, even when her fans harass them and in Ficlets case purposely got them kicked off Canvas for âcopyingâ LO, meanwhile she will happily promote OSP because they confirm her biases and kissed her butt in their HxP video. What does this tell us? Because it doesnât seem very nice.
Of course sheâs allowed as a creator to play with the mythology as she wants, but even then there are still limits to adhere to, and she never does it because obviously her half-baked concept of the âmythologyâ is way better than the 3000+ years of texts and interpretations out there. Sure she has people flinging themselves at her to offer her help for free, especially Greeks and academics, but what would they know over her, the self proclaimed master of mythology itself? Obviously she created it all in 2016 when she decided to draw a sexy pink girl and thatâs it. Greece and everyone else was just using a fake version this whole time!Â
It seems from her POV, Greece ands its citizens are, in her own words âhatersâ who apparently know less about Greece and its own mythology than her, a white woman who uses a fanfic-writing white supremacist as a main source. The ego on this woman is astonishing.
5. May I also add to the age discourse, something like Edward and Bella can get away with it because Edward stopped aging physically, mentally, and emotionally at 17, and even in story there is a logic to them still going to HighSchool after all this time. He may be 117 age wise, but heâs at the same exact level as Bella in every other regard. That doesnât excuse his creepy actions, of course, but there is in canon logic to it to justify it and make sense.
Iâd say LO could use this too, but tbh it wouldnât work. Either itâd involve making a CEO king as immature and childish as a 19 year old (not great) or itâd have a 19 year old suddenly be way wiser beyond her years which wouldnât make much narrative sense, but also has some really creepy implications to it. Anyway RS dug herself into a stupid hole and doesnât know how to get out of it.Â
6. im in the same boat đ i was watching one of those LO critique videos you posted and they were showing panels from early on and i just thought "they photoshopped this, right? theres no way it looked this bad. they're just goofing around with this" and nope, that's exactly how they looked the video didnt change a thing. the bright colors really were distracting your eyes from seeing how bad it looked.
7. Correct me if iâm wrong but in one of the first few episodes wasnât Hades annoyed with Persephone? Especially at the panel where she wanted to drive his car? Like nothing has really changed in her behaviour with him apart from her being more flirty, but the only change is that Hades started viewing her more sexually. Always thinking about her breasts and butt, and nothing else. Half the time he was thinking about her, he wouldnât even think of her face. So how exactly is their relationship a romantic and lovely one?Â

It's alright if u don't wanna answer this cuz this argument gets people really riled up but do you think c!Techno is a tyrant or nah?
Cuz many c!techno apologists argue that he isn't just cuz he's an anarchist but I've also read a lot of essays that go against it and it'd be really interesting to see ur opinion on this
i think he, in some contexts, can most definitely be called tyrannical, yes. a tyrant? no.
to avoid spamming ppl w discourse we've all def heard before (and bc this ended up MASSIVE (like 2.3k ish), but fairly in depth bc i didnt wanna speak out of bad faith and wanted to be EXPLICTLY clear-- oops), the rest will be under readmore
so heres the thing i want to preface: i used to really LOVE c!techno. i joined beginning of s2, right when exile started, and he was arguably my favorite character. since then though i've fallen out with him a LOT, to the point i almost... actively despite him at times (though mainly in a toxic kind of way which i can acknowledge is flawed).
in short, his actions started to speak louder than his words and i lost investment in his personal character struggles because of the actions he took (doomsday was my breaking point. i get feeling angry and betrayed, as well as seeking revenge against lmanberg, but his actions went too far for me to CARE and it hurt so many more characters as well.)
so when i speak, i come from a place of disliking him but also somewhat understanding the position c!techno apologists come from: i used to be one of them myself.
NOW, do i think he's a tyrant? no. for reference in my analysis, i try to look up the definition of terms to make sure they are utilized properly. while "tyranny" and "tyrannical" can have multiple uses, tyrant itself is a more specific term. to combine the top two definitions, a tyrant is referring to "an extremely oppressive, unjust, or cruel absolute ruler (who governs without restrictions, especially one who seized power illegally.)"
techno's position as an anarchist, imo, DOES indeed make him unable to be a tyrant. tyrants are rulers with very clear power over others from a structural way. anarchists are about the lack of structure or power over others and instead viewing the people around you as equals in power.
in forming the syndicate, they very explicitly worked to not designate a leader and instead make it so that no one would have any power over the others systemically. techno may have taken a integral role, yes, but it doesn't make him suddenly "the leader", its a role that wouldve had to be filled by someone (even if it was democratic to decide who to invite, they'd need someone to hand over the invite itself yknow? like no matter WHAT there needed to be A ROLE)
one could argue that he IS a leader in the shadow hierarchy of the syndicate (which, yes, is a real and professional term used in management courses despite sounding like it comes from a 4kids yugioh dub) in that everyone CONSIDERS and looks to him a leader without him having any actual structural basis behind it, but to argue that allows him to be a tyrant is in bad faith i believe. especially because to the people he would be "ruling", he ISNT oppressive, unjust, or cruel. they are his friends and support network and critical for a lot of his personal development (since feelings of betrayal and trust issues are critical to his character and why he acts the way he does). I wish we were able to SEE this develop more, but oh well.
but like i said: tyrant is fairly specific in definition. TYRANNY, and thus TYRANNICAL are not as limited. I've discussed their definitions here. originally, i made that post because i was angry at a take i had seen that claimed that, like you said, because techno was an anarchist and not part of any government or leadership position, he couldn't be tyrannical. to which i heartily disagree.
for something to be tyrannical, they simply must have an overarching/oppressive power over someone or something. it would not be inaccurate if i were to say that something is "under the tyranny" of a concept, because what it means is that something is under the power of another thing/concept. you can frankly call anything tyranny if it is widespread/overarching and you don't like it. mask mandates? tyranny, its forcing me to act in "rigorous condition". hell, theres even such things as tyranny of the majority in which people agree too much on one thing and it gives them unfair power or tyranny of the minority where people with minority opinions have too much power (thats a very grossly oversimplified definition of both, but it covers the base idea well enough for my point)
the point im making above isnt meant to be taken as "anything can be worked to be defined as tyranny thus it is a meaningless claim", it is that tyranny (and again, thus tyrannical) are very open and nonrestrictive terms.
to make it easier to define, alongside the definitions provided i want to add an explicit clause that is (imo) implied in the original definition: tyranny is... well, bad. that is to say if someone has power over a group but literally everyone is fine with it and agrees to it, its not tyranny. thats just a group of people getting along and one happens to have power over another. a leader does NOT equal a tyrant (as discussed above), so leadership should not be equated with tyranny.
thus as an example: wilbur acting as president (before the election) may have been "unelected" with power over his citizens, but no one was upset with that power. thus, he is not a tyrant and not acting tyrannically (as well as the fact his power was, arguably, NOT rigourous or absolute but thats another topic for another time). SCHLATT however IS a tyrant, as his power was absolute (he did not consult his cabinet) and forced people to comply instead of them complying willingly, thus he was acting tyrannically.
now to finally get to the damn point of this essay: where does c!techno lie? honest answer? it depends slightly on your perspective, but it depends a LOT on the future of the syndicate.
techno is incredibly clear in his goals: no governments, no corruption. in fighting with pogtopia, he is actively working to topple a tyranny-- he isn't tyrannical for doing that.
when he strikes out on nov 16th, it is because he opposes them forming a new government. when they oppose him and disagree, he launches an attack against them. is this tyranny? maybe, but probably not. he IS trying to impose his own physical strength and power (as well as his resources) over the others to stop them from doing what HE doesn't want them to do.
however its more nuanced than that:
1. hes lashing out emotionally as well as politically. he feels betrayed by those he trusted and he believed that they would destroy the government then go (i'm ignoring any debates on if he did or did not know that they planned another government, though it is a source of debate). but typically idk about you but i dont call tyranny for someone fighting with another person.
2. he also may be acting with good intent again, in HIS EYES. if tubbo was part of manburg, whos to say he wont be just as bad? he, in his pov, is likely trying to stop another tyrant before they rise.
3. and finally, and tbh the most damning from any perspective: he gives up. he quickly leaves then RETIRES without intent to try and attack again until he is later provoked. tyranny is defined by it not just being power, but power being USED. if he doesn't use his power to try and impose any will, then he's not tyrannical.
Doomsday I am also not going to touch very in depth on for much of the same reasons. My answer is again a "maybe", depending on the weight you personally place on each issue:
1. he's lashing out as revenge for the butcher army and as revenge against tommy for "betraying" him (though this one we explicitly know he was ignoring the fact tommy did not want to go through with it, however he still did trust and respect tommy regardless so his feelings are understandable anyway)
2. he sees new lmanberg as corrupt and tyrannical (which is undeniable: house arrest for noncompliance, exile without counsel, execution without trial, etc), and thus obligated to destroy it
but also, theres the implicit understanding he's doing this to send a message: do not form a government, or else. its a display of force that also works to warn others unless they want a similar fate. phil even explicitly states that he is doing so to send that message, so one could assume techno is doing the same alongside his personal reasoning listed above.
what i just described is the use of a oppressive and harsh (physical) power in order to gain compliance from people (that compliance being 'not making a government'). does that sound familiar? exactly. it follows the definition(s) of tyranny given previously. technoblade is acting in a way that is, by very definition, tyrannical.
so the debate shifts: is he valid in doing so because he is trying to PREVENT corruption and tyranny. like i said, new lmanberg was undeniably corrupt at points. i held nothing against techno for trying to topple manburg, so does that apply to new lmanberg as well? short answer: i dont know. it depends on your specific opinion of what is acceptable. its like the paradox of tolerance: to have a truly tolerant society, you have to be intolerant of intolerance. to have a truly non-tyrannical society, do you need to have a tyranny enforcing it?
personally (and bc im a lmanberg loyalist /hj) i say it is. regardless of the corruption of new lmanberg, they are also giving a threat to EVERYONE. even those who are innocent, they are presented with the exact same threat and rule set: if you make a government, you will be destroyed.
(which, small divergence here, is part of why debating c!techno is so frustrating. so many times you end up hitting a "well it depends on your political views" situation and there ISNT a correct answer there. im here to analyze characters for fun, not debate political theory)
so: the syndicate then. this is where this debate really "took off" and i think its due to one very specific miscommunication about its goals and plans. the syndicate, upon formation, declares itself to stand against corruption and tyranny. when they are found, the syndicate would work to destroy it. so heres the golden question: what do THEY define as corruption and tyranny? if you were to go off c!techno's previous statements, seemingly "any government" is a valid answer. however, he also states he's fine with people just being in groups together hanging together.
what then DEFINES A GOVERNMENT for them? what lines do they have to sort out what does "deserve to be destroyed" and what does "deserve to exist freely"
this is a hypothetical i like to post when it comes to syndicate discourse:
i have a group of people. lets say 5 or so for example. they all live together and build together. any decisions made that would impact the entire group they make together and they must have a unanimous agreement in order to proceed, but otherwise they are free to be their own people and do their own thing. when you ask them, they tell you they are their own nation and they have a very clearly defined government: they are a direct democracy. does the syndicate have an obligation to attack?
there is absolutely no hierarchy present. there is no corruption present. but, they ARE indeed a government. is that then inherently negative? my answer is fuck no (see the whole "difference between a tyrant and a leader" thing above).
but THATS where the issue of this discourse LIES. in some people's eyes, the answer to that is YES. techno's made it clear "no government" is his personal view, but does that spread to the syndicate as a whole? do they act preemptively in case it DOES become corrupt? is it inherently corrupt because its a government, regardless of how it is ruled? the fact of the matter is because of how little we've seen the syndicate work as a SYNDICATE, we don't know that answer. so we're left to debate and speculate HOW they would act.
if the syndicate were to let that government exist, then they are not tyrannical. they are showing that they are working to stop tyranny and corruption, just like in pogtopia again.
if the syndicate were to destroy/attack that government, then they are tyrannical. simple as that. they are enforcing a rule of their own creation without any nuance or flexibility under the threat of absolute destruction.
miscommunication in debates comes, in my opinion, in the above. of course theres more points of nuance. for example:
would the syndicate allow a government like i had described with early lmanberg, where there is an established hierarchy but everyone in the country consents to said leadership? on one hand, there is no tyranny or corruption present which is what they are trying to work against. on the other hand, theres more a possibility of it occuring. perhaps they'd find a middle road between the two binary options of "leave or destroy" i am presenting, such as checking in occasionally to ensure no corruption occurs.
but if they were to destroy it without, for lack of a better word, "giving it a chance" they would be, in my opinion, tyrannical. they would be going aginst their words of opposing corruption and instead abusing their power to gain compliance.
your/others opinions may differ, again it depends on if you see it as worth it to possibly stop future tyranny or if a hierarchy is INHERENTLY a negative thing.
part of the reason so many blog gave up this debate, beyond not getting very clear answers for the syndicate, is because of the nuance present. there. is. no. right. answer. every single person will view it differently, because there is no universally agreed upon truth of right or wrong here. BUT, i hope this helps shed some light on the discussion and my thoughts on it

someone probably asked this already but would u feel like writting on your thoughts on dingalings opinions/statements about buddy? i never got to around to play the lisa games after the first one but im getting the context both from the stuff uve written on it and my gf who played the game and she seems like the best character in the game imo
well im glad u asked.... (does a gay little walk over to the keyboard)
ok so as was mentioned by the last lisa anon i got, buddy is austins least favorite character. i cant recall if he ever specified why exactly in public, but i have seen an interview that he did shortly after the painful came out, so i think i have a LITTLE more context for his thought process (and please remember this is all conjecture, i literally dont know this man LMAO)
so first, for some background: buddy was adopted by brad when he found her abandoned as a baby, but her birth father is dr. yado, the man who created olathe (with buzzo!). she bears a notably striking resemblance to lisa, especially as she gets older - in fact, i think thats part of why brad chose to keep her. for reference, heres lisa, and heres buddy. obviously these are sprites and not indicative of their exact appearance, but this should make it pretty obvious what i mean. note that, even though brad knows how unsafe it is for buddy to âlook like a girl,â he still keeps her hair long like lisas was. buzzo noted the similarity between them in the joyful as well. brad also treats her in a similar (but NOT the exact same) manner that marty did to lisa, but i will get into that in another ask i got LMAO
now, as to why austin doesnt like her. so, this may be reading into things a little too much, but i know for a fact that brad is austins favorite character, AND that austin based brads character and experiences on that of his own father, whom he had a sort of mixed relationship with by his own admission (and i believe his dad was also named âbradleyâ skjfsds). i dont know any details about this at all, but to my understanding, austins dad also wrestled with addiction, and had a bit of a âroughâ personality like brad. austin mentioned in that interview dealing with resentment toward his father for a long time, but that he eventually realized that his father was doing the best that he could in spite of his own upbringing, and even though it didnt excuse the shitty stuff hed done, it made austin somewhat more understanding of the difficult position he was in. so, if brad is austins dad.... well, its not that far of a leap to speculate who buddy likely represents. and it colors a lot of the way he depicts her actions.
the painful, for all its amazing content, sort of dropped the ball on showing why buddy hated brad so much. the only things we know about buddy and brads relationship in that game come from the intro or directly from buddy, and since she never goes into detail (which is fair in-context since brad clearly knows the intricacies of their relationship LMAO), it makes it seem like the worst thing brad has done is forced buddy to stay inside and occasionally passed out from substance abuse. however, as we learn in the joyful, that is not true at all. brad insulted buddy (called her an idiot for asking about brads estranged son), forced her to kill at least two innocent men because, and i quote, âmy daughter will not be weak,â and tried to isolate her from the only other people in her life (her uncles, rick, sticky, and cheeks) after they DARED to tell her a small tidbit about brads past. brad may not have been anywhere near as abusive as marty, but if i described all of these things together and asked a random person if they considered them abusive behaviors for a parent, i think id be likely to get an affirmative response.
now, this is not to say that austin doesnt make it a point to show brad mistreating buddy in the painful proper - in the marty scene, brad literally punts buddy across a room because she begs him not to kill him, and then when she throws herself between marty and brad to get him to stop, brad doesnt hesitate to beat the fuck out of her until she has to withdraw. remember too that buddy is not an adult, by any stretch of the imagination - austin confirmed on twitter that she is nowhere near 18. i personally put her age in the 10-12 range, but ive seen people go as high as 14 or 15. in either case, though, this is a fucking CHILD, and beating her like he did is no different than what marty used to do to both him and lisa.
even in spite of this stuff, though, fans are so much more willing to forgive brads behavior than buddys. there are a few reasons for this, but in a more meta-sense, theres a pretty clear reason why buddy is less sympathetic - because we spend WAY less time with her. in the painful, buddy is not on screen until maybe 5-10 hours into gameplay, and we dont even get any real time with her until the games second half. the joyful, in addition to that, is an EXTREMELY short game; the painful is about 20-30 hours, but the joyful runs about 5 hours max. it was a kickstarter stretch goal, and i honestly wish austin hadnt made it a stretch goal and had spent more time working on it, because while it does some really interesting stuff story-wise, it is severely lacking the run time to make buddys story as compelling as brads. Â
primarily, though, i believe its because brad gets freudian excuses that at least EXPLAIN his behavior and also show just how many demons he has been fighting. while buddy has just as good of a reason to be the way she is, we never really get to SEE this stuff point blank like we did with brad. we witness him being hurt and mistreated as a kid, and more still as an adult in flashbacks. we get almost nothing from buddy, even though it is obvious that she is suffering in a very unique way.Â
so, circling back to your question - why is buddy austins least favorite? i think, quite simply, he seems to identify with her character in the context of buddys relationship with brad, and that actually makes him like her LESS because he has the benefit of hindsight and experience-based wisdom to empathize much more with the brads character and experiences than buddys. so even though brad and buddy are the same in many ways, where he can see brads actions as understandable (if a bit extreme), he cant see buddys in quite the same way. it would be fine if he just felt that way privately, but unfortunately it leaks into the games themselves and leads to many fans not being able to see her perspective and empathize with her, either. and it really does suck bc buddy is definitely one of the most interesting video game protags ive ever seen LMAO
tl;dr austin probably dislikes buddy because brad is based on his own father, and the relationship between brad and buddy is very likely based on his own relationship with his father. there also wasnt enough time in buddys game for her to become more sympathetic, so if ur not really paying attention, it seems like shes just being a bratty teenager instead of, u know. a victim of abuse on a massive scale. so yeahÂ

Hi! I love your comics but this is actually somehow art history related, but also imposter syndrome. I just took a massive test involving analysis of images, that I had no idea how to answer. I might have analyzed them and formed my own conclusions and connections instead of repeating someone elseâs but Iâm terrified I was just bs-ing the whole thing. Does this ever happen to you or do you have any advice?
hi king/queen im an art history major and i can confirm that a lot of the time writing about art history is complete bullshit, i had to write a bunch of various visual analyses at the end of this semester and a lot of it was vague bullshit tbh. honestly? dont worry about it! its fine to bullshit stuff i promise. as long as u cite your sources / back up the claims you make, its Fine dude ive written so many. so . many . fucking pages of art history analyses that i thought have been largely bullshit its Okay. just chill my friend, have some faith in yourself, dont let imposter syndrome get to u.
a big part of art history writing is being able to look at an image you dont know about and write something about it. if your claims are reasonable and justifiable, youre fine. if you wrote something, even if it felt like u didnt know what to say, its fine. it can feel like bs and sometimes it is but my guess is youre being overly self conscious and you actually did alright.
i often go thru this when im writing esp on tests cuz it really does feel like im writing absolute bs sometimes BUT ive learned to have faith in myself, and you should too! even if its bullshit thats fine it really is. also, im sure youve gotten grades back for your writing in the class you had this test for, so you can use that as a reference for your ability. its a safe assumption that your grade/ability isnt too far off from how youve done in the rest of the class. just trust yourself. what i love about art history is you Can bullshit your way through writing if you vaguely know what youre doing.
but yeah its like 2am so this is really ranty but the point is you should trust yourself, if you feel imposter syndrome look at the grades u got for past similar assignments to contextualize ur abilities, and in the art history field you really have to bullshit stuff sometimes as a student and thats just how it is.
i went thru this when i took my midterms, i thought i didnt know anything and i would do terribly and everything i wrote was complete bullshit, but turns out i did pretty well on them. and i just took my finals a week and a half ago and once again im really worried its all bullshit and i did terribly BUT im trying not to freak out and im rationalizing the probability that i did fine on them bc i can look at my past grades to tell me im good at the type of writing i had to do even tho i do Not trust past ezra and all the bullshit they probably wrote during finals.
since youve already taken the test id suggest not worrying abt it as much as possible bc theres nothing u can do now, though im anxiously awaiting my grades thatll come back at the end of the month........
i might edit and add to this tomorrow when im coherent so check again on this response later ok?

i know everyone gets mad at judy for always checking things like whats happening in the police precinct with the crimes or talking to detectives about those cases and all. i can totally see why jen and all are having a problem with that (steve is technically another example but he can - and lowkey did - die in a hole). it does look dodgy and weird and the situation is stressful for her (âherâ being jen - from now on im just gonna refer to jen bc ew steve, so yeah sorry).
i mean i dont like that jen was still being rude or speaking to her like a child except worse and more angrily. she was condescending. but i do understand, at least, the fear resulting in anger at judy.
but ive been thinking about it, and i think the reason judy has a hard time sticking out of these issues is probably because she has previously had to solve every single issue shes experienced alone, when she was young. and she had to be constantly aware - has someone noticed my mother isnt going to school events? has someone noticed that im cooking and cleaning for myself? has someone noticed im tired and stressed? because if a teacher finds out, theyre going to do something, and i dont want to upset my mother because im sure somewhere deep down she really does care and love me sometimes. i dont want to upset anyone at all.Â
youâd fear massive changes in your life - everything needs to stay the same, even if its not stable, theres a kind of makeshift stability in constant instability. in always having to manage a crisis. theres steps, theres a mental checklist, theres things to do. she probably thought change would still be worse than this; a total upheaval in the short-term. no guarantee of stability in the future. as things were, she had the guarantee of instability, but it was still a guarantee.Â
sheâd have to just reason that she could cope with anything. its what i always hear about kids in neglectful or abusive situations, its a pattern i think a lot of us have experienced:Â âyouâre so mature for your age!â /Â âyouâre special (or smart)â /Â âyouâre so grown up!â /Â âyouâre so responsible!â / âyouâre sorry kind and sympathetic to your peers!â. this isnt meant to hurt, it doesnt necessarily hurt, its often from other adults who have no idea whats happening. but the behavior theyre seeing is more along the lines of: quiet, constantly alert, anxious, sad, upset, fearful.Â
[imo, theres a harmful misconception that quiet/stressed/rarely happy = growing up, becoming more mature. i do think its kind of awful that youâre not meant to have that child-like fascination and excitement with the world when you get older, but its true that just does often go away a little with time, completely naturally. but it can also be harmful to make that A Thing, because childhood depression and anxiety or experiencing potentially traumatic or otherwise stressful and upsetting situations can also lead to showing similar signs - just faster, earlier. and these can be misread as just being very mature for your age. but thats a separate issue i have with the world, lol.]
anyway, so shes found the only option is to hide the problems and present as totally fine. make excuses. lie. keep secrets. these behaviours have stuck with her, too. and so would the feeling that there is constant danger. she must know what the exact extent of the danger is at all times because she must monitor everything. she needs to be on the lookout for threats, because there are always threats. she has to check, be responsible, no one is going to help her, theres an order to the disorder, theres a way to manage the chaos and only she knows how because this is just another crisis. her average state, a day-in-the-life of judy hale.
shes always had to do that, in the context of her growing up. but although its the same feeling of stress, its a different context now, and that behaviour is a lot more suspicious in this situation. especially now, because shes an adult. and now shes not alone in the stressful environment, other people (eg jen w/the murder) want and need a say in how problems are being sorted out. and jen is kinda right, you know, you cant go around checking in with the police, it looks pretty odd. judys form of crisis management isnt applicable here, but judy doesnt really think about that, shes thinking about how best to keep herself safe. and thats how she thinks she is going to be safe, because thats what has worked. in fact, she was doing it because she wants jen to be safe, too.Â
shes doing the best she can with what she has, but her childhood was terrible and she never had the opportunity to form normal, more effective, adult-life socially applicable crisis management skills. all she did get was what she had to do as a child, to protect herself in a horribly twisted way, because she was a child who did not get to grow up in the way everyone else did. she missed out on a lot of things that you gain when youre not under extreme pressure just to survive and hide major problems while also having to live with those major problems. she didnt get to learn how to find more subtle ways of getting information, or when it was better to just not interact at all.Â
what she learnt let her live back then, it prevented her world from unravelling. how can she be expected to let go of those makeshift survival skills? how can she be expected to go against the instincts that have clearly saved her before? how can she be expected to confront her slowly growing understanding that her life should never have been like that, that she was robbed of her childhood, that she has had a horrible thing happen to her, that countless horrible things have happened to her, how can she be expected to accept that she deserved better than she has ever gotten? how can she be expected to allow herself all these feelings and fears she has been pushing down her entire life?
admitting/realising that she doesnt know what to do, that she isnt safe and cant control the situation by herself, means admitting far too much: it means admitting that she was never meant to be capable of coping by herself, that she actually couldnt cope with literally everything life threw her way no matter what - shes not okay, she didnt have some supernatural ability to somehow deal with everything, and she wasnt supposed to. that her mother knowingly put her in an unsafe situation, and she was not meant to just learn how to cope.
i dont think jen does or really truly can currently realise that, but i hope she starts to see that if she learns more about judyâs mom and all... she definitely didnt get that judy was stressed and actually doing what she thought was great, and also that what she has been doing isnt out of naivety or something, but kind of the opposite - more like she knows too much, has been too exposed, and now shes just applying those things here but it doesnt work here.

hxh movie....2!
ruth and i watched the second hxh movie and that certainly was a movie
the title is already cracking me up lmao âthe last missionâ THATS SO DRAMATIC.Â
the first like 3 scenes feel totally disconnected like theyre from different movies vnjskdfnsdkflk
âmany decades agoâ vbhjdsfbajsdf that phrasing is hilarious somehowÂ
damn young netero just killed jeb bushÂ
ah look its our movie villains, starting their villain stuff
so i guess this is set around where we are in the series now - like, somewhere in this beginning part of the chimera ant arc where gon and killua are hanging w/kite. which is kinda funny bc they dont explain AT ALL how and why gon and killua are in this city suddenly hvbajdsfjskdjan
killua skateboarding makes me smile :â) love itÂ
IS THAT ZUSHI??????? AHHHHHHH MY BOY!!!!!!!!!! BABY BOY!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT HIMMMM HES A LIL BUFF 7 YR OLD NOW OUGHHHH HES GROWN SO MUCH...POWERFUL BABY....IM SO PROUDÂ
omg wing and bisky are here too!!! nen famÂ
im so proud of zushi being a floor master omg....i love how the side characters progress and grow offscreen, separate of the protags, kinda like seeing pokkle again (rip tho, i think)Â
LEORIOOOOO MY MAN!!!!!!! he really showed up for like 3 seconds then gets KOd and dumped in a sewer....STOP DOING MY MAN SO DIRTY GIVE HIM SCREENTIME..
ohhh so weâre doing anime die hard. kinda like the first macadamia movieÂ
that lady rlly just stabbed herself huh.
these antags look like theyre from naruto. main antag dude looks like about 7 different anime guys fusedÂ
oh man netero got dunked on immediately Ls. gotta take him out so the protags can do the fightingÂ
gon and killua are so good. and also in love. epic 12 yr old romanceÂ
KURAPIKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lookin sharp in a suit. also just looking depressed as hell in general. KURAPIKA ARE YOU...GOOD....ARE YOU STAYING HYDRATED??? TAKING UR VITAMINS?? I DONT THINK YOU ARE.Â
also i still cant believe kp is working for neon still...it rlly feels like they just gave up on life and just figured that staying there was fine or w/e
now the 3 protags are goin full die hard thru the tower...WHERE is leorio i cant believe they rlly threw my mans in a sewer like that smhÂ
these guys r rlly called âthe shadowâ thats so edgyÂ
also i watched this like a few hours ago but im a dumb bitch so im reading thru the wiki article for the movie to remind me what happened, and apparently The Shadow(tm) was the black ops division of the hunter association, and they were later rekkt once they started w/the On...i so didnt get that while actually watching the movie vhdakjfhbskdfn thanks hunterpedia for explaining that one to meÂ
wooowww so the HA rlly just committed massive, morally reprehensible war crimes and then just sealed it all in a book or st and moved on. yikes id be mad too, generic anime dude villainÂ
so these three rlly just resurrected a dude by going into the desert and saying âhey we r emo can you give us some power and maybe anime jeb bushâ and that WorkedÂ
now kurapika is fighting the dude in the control room and gon&killua are fighting Big Dude WHO BEAT UP ZUSHI!!!!!!!!! get his ass boysÂ
LEORIOOOOOO MMY MAN IS BACK FROM HIS SEWER ADVENTURE!!!!!!!!! ILY SIRRRRRÂ
and then he immediately gets yoinked by hisoka, who is for some reason in this movie. i feel like they were like oh yeah hisoka is like, the 5th main character/antagonistic force of the story so i guess he should be here. its hilarious tho bc he spends 90% of his already limited screentime in this movie just playing w/his playing cards and smirking. bastard man you just gooo awayyyyy
seeing beans again omggggg green dude u r great
also who the FUCK is that smarmy looking blonde at the HA HQ...i hate him already based on 1) his atrocious pattern-clashing fashion sense, and 2) his smarmy aura. he looks like hes never thought a thought in his life. ruth says he might be buddies w/ging which makes me hate him even moreÂ
gon and killua....r dating. tyÂ
when gon and the bad guy start fighting in the elevator shaft and killua just kinda watches hvbajddfhbsjf hes like âoh the narrative demands that gon fights solo for a bit so i guess ill stay hereâ lmaoÂ
but then he saves gon with his physics-heavy electromagnet elevator clamp plan....smart babyÂ
then after they defeat the guy they just start chatting lol i love themÂ
ohhh shit the guy exploded, thats fucked upÂ
poor gon :( more trauma for the poor kidÂ
meanwhile kurapika fights an evil clone of themself. wowÂ
tbh kurapika could totally one-up these guys by being like âwell ok at least you have each other, im the VERY LAST kurtaâÂ
its strange to see kurapika fighting w/the sticks instead of the chains tbh
WHO THREW THAT KNIFE AT THE GUY IT HAS TO BE LEORIO HHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
LEORIO AND KURAPIKA REUNION HHHHH THEYYYYY
they are married tyvmÂ
kurapika is soooo not doin well like...please get some rest
kurapika referring to their ânew friendsâ hmmmm thats probably an actual canon reference since this doesnt get brought up again in the movie. probs referring to w/e kp is doing in canon at this pointÂ
LEORIO USING NEN LMAOOO hes like pshhhh that was easy but internally hes like owww....sir ily smÂ
damn kurapika rlly stabbed that guy w/a stick huh. rip dudeÂ
ohhh shit its those drug capsule thingsÂ
KURAPIKA RLLY TOOK A BULLET FOR LEORIO HUH. I HATE IT HEREEEEEE
leorio best dude
wow so kp has to make an On covenant OR DIE...yeah i think theyll choose the die optionÂ
squad reunion :â) even tho kp is like, dyingÂ
gon is such a good boy :( ily babyÂ
leorio and kurapika are str8 up married tyÂ
final battle timeee
love how at this point in the story gon only has one attack so he has no choice but to keep doing that same attack (well, the 3 variations) over and over til st happens lmaoÂ
lmao gon and kurapika are rlly on the opposite ends of the âOnâ scale here w/kp willing to die rather than accept using On, and gon seeking out On for POWER and also VENGEANCEÂ
the themes of gonâs righteous anger on behalf of others continues...
the boys are rlly getting tossed around a lot this movie geezÂ
hh boy gon is now...PURPLE-BLUEÂ
oooh killua convincing the lady to chill out was cool - tho ngl i didnt realize she was still aliveÂ
now netero can go ham. i wonder if heâll finish the fight or if gon willÂ
uh oh gon is Extra Feral nowÂ
gon: IM EVIL NOW
killua: NOT ON MY FUCKING WATCHÂ
oughhh they love each other so much bro. fuck thisÂ
gon banging his head on the ground and then killua jumping in between him and the ground....true love broÂ
gon snapped out of it WITH THE POWER OF LOVE!!!!!!!!!! im emo and gay. thanksÂ
love how even when netero was younger he was still like, an old guy lmaoÂ
and then the next day theyre all just back in heavans arena hbvhdahdfbjsakf who cares that the building just got hijacked? whatevsÂ
kurapika smiling a little and melody then smiling knowingly....melody is like Bitch I Know Youre In LoveÂ
still kurapika seems like. not Right. pls get some therepyÂ
im glad zushi got to fight that guy like he was supposed to....and w/the nen fam cheering him on :â)Â
THOUGHTS
its wild how they didnt really delve into the whole âwar crimesâ thing w/the hunter association lmao. idk if this movie is canon so that might be why....they just brushed over the fact that the HA was like, running concentration camps and murdering entire groups of people. wildÂ
this movie was fun!! it felt more like hxh than the last movie, which v much felt like a generic anime movie. this one felt more in character. it did fall into typical anime movie tropes sometimes but the characters felt more like themselves here, espec w/the point of the story this seems to be set atÂ
like gons anger and all that - while it obvs comes from a place of love and kindness, he can get carried away sometimes...i feel like weâre gonna rlly delve into the negative impact of this in the CA arc and i am both so ready and not ready at allÂ
this movie was hella gay which i appreciate. love the gaysÂ
all in all this was fun!! i wish there were more hxh movies lmao i love anime movies. well at least theres the musical LMAOOO im gonna watch that soonÂ

MHA Song Analysis -Â âHolyâ by PVRIS
so i was listening to this song and it gave me massive todoroki family vibes lmao
anyway!! i got encouragement from fran (thank u fran) so its time to go off
i will leave a read more for those of u who dont wanna see me yell tho uwu
this is the song:Â https://youtu.be/rfrFT_3GP4A
SO i will be using genius lyrics as a ref for the lyrics so if u would like to double-check me on anything, u can do so using the same source
also for this analysis, we are going with the theory that dabi is todoroki touya just for simplicityâs sake
ALSO there are some manga spoilers in here so be careful!! itâs nothing too major or anything but there are instances discussed here that have not yet happened in the anime, so just a warning
w that letâs begin hoho
âyouve got it allâ
âyouâ in this context is endeavor (who will be referred to as âenjiâ for the rest of this) and the rest of the line is obvious then; heâs got it all in the sense that heâs a successful, rich pro hero; he has a wife and kids and his own agency; when/if he retires, he could do so comfortably; he has a world-renowned, powerful quirk; heâs got looks and fans and everything
âbut youve got it all wrongâ
despite everything enji has, he doesnât treat it right at all. obviously heâs abusive as fuck towards his family, and negligent to natsuo and fuyumi once shouto comes along. heâs not satisfied with his place because he doesnât get to have the number one next to his name. nothing is enough for him; his fatal flaw is envy, and it consumes him to an absolutely absurd degree
ânow you dont know youâre a poor unfortunate soulâ
as previously mentioned, enjiâs fatal flaw is envy. it fucks with him so severely that he canât be happy with what he has, and instead stews in hate towards all might and the bitterness of âwhat-ifsâ. thus, heâs a âpoor unfortunate soulâ
âoh i know/you make it seem that you feel whole/so they donât know youâre a poor unfortunate soulâ
so even though enji is clearly a bit unstable and will never be satisfied or happy with what he has, he has to hide that fact; we see this particularly with his interactions with all might. he is venomous towards him, yes, but he will never let all might know that heâs jealous of him. we see this pattern of behavior echoed in shouto in the sports festival and dabi
âyou put on a faith facade/think youâre holy when youâre notâ
the âfaith facadeâ is enji pretending to feel accomplished with what heâs done, when he clearly isnât. the âthink youre holy when youâre notâ refers to enjiâs tendency to not see or not admit when heâs wrong. at least until his fight with the nomu leading to introspection, enji did not see any error in his ways. he was fine with using a woman solely for the children she could potentially bear, he was fine with neglecting the children that werenât âgood enoughâ in his eyes (natsuo and fuyumi), and he was perfectly fine with overworking the children that did meet his standards (shouto and dabi), which supposedly led to oneâs death (touya/dabi)
âi hate to break it to you, baby/but youâre simply lostâ
could be seen as words dabi is telling enji during the nomu fight. shouto, fuyumi, and natsuo have no doubt thought this as well, though, and shouto and natsuo have said things that are equivalent to this (shouto when he told enji he would use him as a stepping stone to be a good hero and natsuoâs recent blowing up about touyaâs âdeathâ and enjiâs parenting)
âyou can right all the wrongs just to feel you belongâ
these are words natsuo definitely said to enji during their most recent interactions. shouto and dabi echo this sentiment, though, with how they interact with enji. its a very sarcastic and bitter line about not being able to just let what enji has done slip by
âbut simply calling out sins donât bring you closer to godâ
âcalling out sinsâ is enjiâs abuse towards his children and otherwise living through them, particularly shouto, and âbring you closer to godâ in this context would mean enji reaching his goals. this is a sentiment all the todorokis feel, but particularly shouto, as enji honed in on him for years and shouto had no way of getting away from him until ua
âyoure just a ghost at most/a set of empty bonesâ
i feel as if this is a sentiment all the todorokis feel currently: enji because heâs finally realizing all heâs done wrong and doesnât quite know how to cope with that; shouto because heâs trying to see himself as anything other than enjiâs tool; natsuo because he wants to be more than the abuse enji inflicted on him, but itâs hard bc he canât let go of touyaâs âdeathâ; dabi because heâs completely warped as a person from who he used to be and canât reach out to his mom or siblings; fuyumi because she most likely has doubts about her feelings/lack of anger towards enji, even though her brothers are all angry with him in some form or fashion; and even rei, because she was changed as a person from enjiâs abuse and hurt her own child because of it, and she must deal with the guilt of that
âsearching for anything and everything to make you feel wholeâ
this is a reference to how the todorokiâs are trying to cope with what is making them feel like a ghost. enji is reaching out to his kids, shouto is connecting with his friends and midoriya, natsuo is honest about his feelings to enji himself, dabi has a new family/group he connects with, fuyumi stands her ground bc her feelings are her own and shouldnt be swayed by what others are thinking, and rei is in a much better headspace now that sheâs away from enji
âwhen it gets cold, oh, oh, ohâ
âwhen it gets coldâ means when their struggles get particularly hard. examples of this: enji during the nomu fight, shouto during the sports festival, natsuo during the attack in recent manga chapters and the following conversation with enji, when dabi âdiesâ/runs away, and when rei hurt shouto. i cant think of a specific example for fuyumi right now, but you get the idea
âyou dont know/no you dont know/oh youâre all alone/you poor unfortunate soulâ
i feel this line relates solely to enji and halfway with dabi, as shouto, natsuo, fuyumi, and rei all have each other and others that help them with being âunfortunate soulsâ. enji and dabi, on the other hand, only have themselves -- enji because heâs too prideful and also has no one left in his corner after his years of abuse, and dabi because he hasnât told the league his past (yet), thus he certainly hasnât talked about this at all
âyou canât control/where your body lets you go/oh youâre all alone/you poor unfortunate soulâ
i think this line, in particular, is dabiâs, as depending on which âdabi is touyaâ theory youâre looking at, he was kidnapped by ujiko to be made into a nomu that kinda failed/kinda succeeded, therefore he literally had no control where his body let him go. however, dabi in general didnât have much choice, or probably felt he didnât; he couldnât stand to be with enji any longer, and it quite literally would have killed him if his scars are anything to go by. so he left, and ended up on the path of villainy. he didnât choose that necessarily, it was just how the cards were played
âand you say that iâve got it all wrongâ
âyouâ is enji and âi[âve]â is shouto. this is before and during the sports festival. enji is still at his worst, shouto is trying to spite him/separate himself from him, and enji hates shouto for that, thus, he says shouto has it all wrong to not use his quirk/be obedient
âcause you just know im a poor unfortunate soulâ
enji knows and is the cause of shoutoâs fucked up upbringing, so this line is kindâve a bitter acknowledgment of that
âbut thereâs no way that thereâs weight in the words that you preach/when youâre claiming your faith and you contradict your speechâ
shoutoâs pov one again; he canât take enji seriously in addition to not wanting to be like him because of enjiâs obvious issues with envy. enji tells him to be proud of his fire, and yet clearly enji isnât even satisfied with it as he canât beat all might with flames alone. thus, shouto has resentment towards the irony of this, which this line attests to
âso i sit here and listen to your tongue and cheek/i know that when you sit and pray youâre only praying for keepsâ
shouto has no choice but to listen to enjiâs hypocrisy, at least until the dorm system at ua is put into place
the âprayingâ in this aspect can mean a couple different things; enjiâs talks to the public, talks to shouto, or talks to all might. âpraying for keepsâ in these contexts, then, are: âjust want to keep his hero ranking highâ, âwants to live through shoutoâs success because heâs unhappy with his own lifeâ, and âwants to one-up all might in anything possible, from demeanor to supposed satisfaction to pride to legacy, etcâ
chorus (âcause youâre a ghost...[...]unfortunate soulâ bit) once more
âyouâre shallow and empty and filled with regretâ
arguably all the todorokis feel this way. they all have things they regret at this point and all feel the emptiness that comes when there is a void in what is supposed to be a family. enji in particular has been shallow for a long time and still has issues with that.
âi think that chest must be heavy from that cross on your neckâ
the âcrossâ in this context is the weight that the todorokis each feel about what expectations they think they have to live up to/what worries them. obviously all the todoroki kids had/have the pressure to live up to enjiâs expectations, but to get more precise: shouto and natsuo have the need to be more than âendeavorâs kidsâ on their chests, and shouto additionally has the pressures that come with being a hero course student; fuyumi has the dilemma of if sheâs being too forgiving or not (and how that affects her loved ones) on her chest; dabi has the knowledge that he left behind his siblings and mother on his chest; enji has regret and dissatisfaction with his whole life on his chest; rei has the regret of what she did to her kids and the horrors of living with enji on her chest.
âyou only wear cause youâre wary of what comes next after your deathâ
why the todorokis hold on to their aforementioned âcrossesâ? they hold on bc its important to them that they carry reminders of who/what they want to be, or because they regret or are unsure of certain decisions, or because of nostalgia and a desire that things were different
âdont think i didnât noticeâ
this can be an outside perspective, but particularly im thinking midoriya because heâs met almost all of the todorokis now and has seen them at lows. very low lows in fact. thus,,,it canât escape notice
however it can also be the todorokis acknowledge the trauma and guilt that each other has; âtakes one to know oneâ sort of thing
âdont think i didnât notice/dont think i didnât know/youâre just a po-o-o-or, poor unfortunate/so-o-o-oul, poor unfortunate/oh, oh, oh, oh poor unfortunate/so-o-o-oul, poor unfortunateâ
this line is kindâve incoherent which is why i think it fits all of the todorokiâs thoughts; this is all of them thinking over each other about themselves and about the rest of their family
âand youâve got it all/youâve got it all wrong/no youâve never known, known, known, known/youâre a poor unfortunate soulâ
once again, this is the todorokiâs thoughts overlapping each other, except these thoughts are exclusively about each other and not themselves
âdont think i didnt noticeâ
definitely this is where the outside party comes in, at least for everyone but enji and dabi, as they have others that are there for them and they can talk to. as for enji and dabi, this line is still them thinking about the others

its 11:59 its still technically tonight so
this is gonna be my reference point to questions abt venezuela, at least regarding things pre- May 19 2019. Its a bit scattered and it may get edited down along the road, but yeah.
short version that draws some similar conclusions: https://www.salon.com/2019/05/17/the-plot-to-kill-venezuela_partner/
one difference in scales thatâs important to keep in mind: the lifespan of people is 2-7 decades. the lifespan of colonialism lasts centuries. the lifespan of media memory is a couple years, tops.
Most western narratives of venezuela start meaningfully at chavez, which is a mistake. The focus point in history around which the country flowed was the Caracazo. You probably already know about this, but a massive uprising took place in the heart of Caracas, against decades of dictatorship both formal and informal, after severe instability in the global oil market. The people were hungry, the riots were fiery, and the bullets bled. knows the death toll even now, but its estimated well into the thousands. This happened pre-chavez, and started a cascade of events which brought him into limelight that you can read about here. not gonna go into more venezuelan history, but i talk a bit more here
chavez was democratically elected, multiple times.
in 2002, after his first democratic election, he was kidnapped by US-backed troops and replaced by someone who threw out the 1999 constitution, which was as legitimate as any other made in venezuelaâs colonial and violently capitalist history, seeing as it was the first (aka only, so far) of 26 constitutions actually approved by popular referendum. He was reinstated largely due to massive protests in support of him. Maduro however doesnât really have as much of the charisma and support of chavez, which is creating problems - as well as exacerbating problems created by the economic crises ramping up just around chavezâs death. In 2015, there were elections to the National Assembly, which ended up with the Opposition winning a majority of the seats (which does show that thereâs some degree of fairness in the elections, at least verifiably up til that point, yet that isnt rly accounted for when western media describes it as âundemocraticâ - many of whom donât apply the same scrutiny to their own country: such as this UN Human Rights councilor who also happens to be the crown prince of british-iraq, currently residing in the noted democracy of the Kingdom of Jordan, which has no vested interest or control over any particular export of Venezuela.).    Â
This turnout showed most of all that maduro had alienated as many as 2 million of his supporters, who didnt end up voting (though many also voted against him - trying to act on their feeling that whatever they want, its ânot thisâ). This decreasing support also accelerates whats known as âEveryday Sabotageâ - people not trusting in the government, and look out for their own interests contra everyone else. This is a danger inherent to tying âSocialismâ to a primarily state project. Â Â Â Â
However 1999 Constitution was never meant as an eternal document & it created mechanisms to call for new popular constitutional referendums to be held. Thatâs what the âConstituent Assemblyâ is about, which is what a lot of the western world is describing as him singlehandedly rewriting it (while also being âvague about its contentsâ), or âcreated by himâ. Elections to the constituent assembly were boycotted by opposition, so that it would be government controlled & look like a sham in the eyes of the broader world. That being said, the assembly was called both as a reaction to losing election but also in response to intensifying crises - it was put forth (i donât see any reason to believe in bad faith) as a way to come together and figure out how to address the needs that were driving people to protest - to address the desire for ânot thisâ, but bc of the uncertainty, it was easily twistable by reactionaries by putting all emphasis on the former. Also timing corresponds with increasing fears of maduro straying from the path of chavez, the image of scrapping one of his strongest plays for smth unknown is risky - tho if there are other meaningful options given the situation im not sure. And the bodyâs got at least as much constitutional legitimacy as Guaido (Chapter III) Â
The 1999 constitution also enabled a recall election to be called against maduro in 2016, bc it was written with particular attention to holding public officials accountable - similar noble commitments helped to end the presidency of Rousseff & bring in Bolsonaro (who was also one of the people spurring on the investigations and whipping up a social base).
   (speaking of guaido & bolsonaro)
on Guaido:
part of student group in 2007 protesting against non-renewal of coup-assisting network, who the CFR (one of the major think tanks of the cold war still playing a big role in foreign policy today) considered âmost important networkâ Â Â
close friend of Leopoldo Lopez, the aforementioned coup plotter.
politician since 2010, won a couple small elections
Unknown to majority of general population until 2019, most venezuelans surveyed didnt know him  Â
Plan Pais    Â
plans to privatize state owned industry & allow investment from foreign oil companies    Â
center-right neoliberal draped in platitudes of âstabilityâ, ârevitalizationâ, âsecurityâ, and ârescueâ - a message seemingly deliberately targeted to become more and more resonant with increased sanctions.
/on Guaido
governing is about the expression of power. I wanna live in a world where that power isnât expressed, but as long as the exploitation of the global working class continues unabated, id prefer some of that power be put towards helping the poor. Â Â Â
there is no such thing as a static state of affairs, thereâs no âgoldilocks zoneâ out in the political universe where we tweak things finely until we find whats best for everyone, only different rates of change in different dimensions. what we need to do is figure out how we can push that state of affairs in a direction so that everyday people have the power to take control of their lives. re
re: âconstitutionalityâ - if the supreme court calls it constitutional then its constitutional. period. Thereâs no such thing as a supreme court as an âindependent branchâ of government, but there are different degrees of integration into the rest of it. Â Â Â Â
The Supreme Tribunal of Venezuela has 32 members, (a bit more than a dozen put in by the national assembly, while the PSUV held it), and the opposition holds abt 3 away from a supermajority. Each member of the court holds their spot for 12 years. If thatâs âThe Most Corrupt In The Worldâ according to Transparency International, i wonder what world the 9-person lifetime-appointed US Supreme Court (2 of which appointed by trump, and save for pulling a Weekend At Ginsbergs, likely 3) is on. In fact, one of the tactics that the more radical circles of democrat voters are putting forward is to pack the Supreme Court. Because thats how shit actually gets done, or at the least how shit is prevented from being committed w the stamp of legality. FDR learned that lesson too, in trying to pass what is today known as âThe New Dealâ
My comparisons to trump are for specific end: these actions are exerted on levers of liberal democracy, and every single liberal democracy is susceptible to them in some ways.
whats a âdictatorâ? if hes unelected, the millions of people who participated in the elections dont seem to think so. if maduro is a dictator, then what is donald trump? the majority of ppl didnt vote for him yet hes still governing. macronâs popularity has at several points been less than 1/3, and the yellow vest protestors have been violently attacked - why is he not âa violent dictator with only the support of the militaryâ? These terms are not neutral.
âtheir elections are highly flawedâ So What? show me a country whose elections arent. Â Â
âopposition jailedâ - ok but coup plotters donât get off easy in any liberal democracy. If someone - say Bernie Sanders - said âenough is enoughâ and succeeded in overthrowing the current government with the help of a foreign governmentâŚ. you think theyâd let him go free? what if ten years later he was getting his supporters all riled up to do it again? how long you think heâd be in jail for (assuming he can survive well into his 100âs)? You think more than 13 years? Think heâd get house arrest? Some US states lock you up for posessing weed up to 10. If you stay long enough around this blog, youll find plenty of other examples of much more cruel and unusual punishments. Look at Chelsea Manning, look at Oscar Riviera⌠ look at the US protestors saying Guaido is illegitimate
what we have to keep in mind most of all, is to show that the contradictions being exploited are inherent to Liberalism. Contradictions are just expressed most freely at the margins - the interstices
poor economic decisions happen everywhere - 2008/2009 still affecting the entire world thereâs violence thats ânaturalâ, and violence thats âintolerableâ. The dividing line is whether we have anything to gain by changing things.
sanctions: Â Â started under obama, originally targeted specific individuals, used as precedent for more generalized. Theyâre indirect - they have a âsqueezing effectâ, takes already-existing problems & just makes them markedly worse. also doesnât necessarily correlate with emigration, bc it takes a lot of money to start a new life somewhere else, and sanctions disproportionately affect the poor. Â Â
war wouldnt likely look like (many) US boots on the ground - weâve got plenty of other places to be. Itâd look like guns being smuggled to counter-protestors. Itâd look like sending resources to neighboring countries like Colombia or Brazil who would then use their troops. Colombias ruling party is right wing populists - much of current presidentâs campaign was run on fearmongering abt venezuelan socialism - theyâre raring to go. Itâd look like drones https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caracas_drone_attack. Also means there likely wonât be a sudden trigger, its a gradually escalating stressful gradually-more-warlike situation. Â
If war does break out - where would the refugees go? Â In reality the majority would go to Colombia, but if anything significant breaks out there will be a stream of those looking to find shelter in the US, which has advertised itself as a beacon of hope - what would happen to them? some may get taken in as a gesture of showmanship, but nowhere close to the majority. Â Â
speaking of the US - imagine if trump and bolton manage to actually plot a winning coup. Do you think that that wont be his main bullwark against ppl like Bernie? you think the media and rest of the democratic party wont jump on that narrative and âbegrudginglyâ support a fascist because the alternative might mean supporting single payer and not-having-good-for-ratings-climate-apocalypse?
another term thrown around without regard is âonce vibrantâ - for whom?
most articles ive seen just take this as an axiom, and dont find any cognitive dissonance when also saying chavez reduced poverty hugely.
The answer to that rhetorical question: Citgo is venezuelan, before chavez none of the wealth went back to venezuela - thats what âvibrancyâ means. Â
   many similarities with BP (the-artist-formerly-known-as-the-anglo-iranian-oil-company)
in age of climate change & vocal ppl about phasing out oil, the more oneâs livelihood is connected to oil, the more unstable ones country will be - either that, or the more instability ones country will cause.
âOil exports fell by $2,200 per capita from 2012 to 2016, of which $1,500 was due to the decline in oil prices.â Â
The drop in price that affected the venezuelan economy so much in 2014 was largely by US shale fracking
in 1970âs Chile, copper was the main product of Chile - allende nationalized the mines, and in return wall street dropped the
(also worth noting that venezuelaâs got non-insignificant untapped shale basins)Â Â Â Â Â
At least venezuela used the oil money to fund social programs instead of like, pad the pockets of Raytheon.
also oil price wars in africa highly correlated w oil (whose annual production doesnât even combined total venezuelas)
a couple ppl have raised concerns abt my strong stance on equivocal dismissal - if thereâs a difference, if thereâs some way of reading your statement that says âX country that the State Dept wants to invade is an anomoly in the otherwise free worldâ, then thatâs acting to push the discourse towards normalization & invasion. Itâs not âwhataboutismâ, just basic consistency.  Â
now more than ever, narratives are affected by people. They may not be ones we had a hand in forging, but the way that we propagate them actually does have measurable effects on the larger-scale political outcomes. Always look for the base assumptions, as well as the direction  Â
sure denounce Chavez. sure denounce Maduro. denounce Kim, Xi, Castro, anyone. But if thereâs no equally or proportionally loud denunciations of the horrors perpetrated by allies - the âassumedâ, ânaturalâ violence, then youâre acting to reinforce the narrative of exceptionalism. Â Â
Just make sure after you take a breath, you denounce Saudi Arabia & Yemen, Israel for Palestine, the conditions which brought Argentinian/Brazillian, Brazilian coup, the US for Puerto Rico, the conditions which have murdered dozens of journalists in Mexico per yearâŚÂ Â
what people want most of all is stability. âA debate over whether it is mismanagement and corruption by the Maduro government or the sanctions that are the author of the crisis is largely irrelevant. The point is that a combination of the reliance on oil revenues and the sanctions policy has crushed the policy space for any stability in the country.â
governmentâs errors and tensions  Â
fixed exchange rate -> black market   Â
took 5 years to address changing relation between dollar & BsF, all the room between those two curves left a huge room for intensifying crises, though since it also corresponds with the death of chavez, it sorta makes sense. Â Â
antidemocratic actions and remarks by maduro Â
scattered responses filled w half-solutions  Â
diversification needed, but how do you diversify an economy filled with rampant poverty, malnutrition, illiteracyâŚÂ
(nominally begrudging) support for mineral extraction 12.4% of territory opened to extraction - âSpecial Economic Zoneâ as a method of managing decay    Â
this is also what much of the reality of âeconomic diversificationâ looks like
not enough socialism. (even fox agrees!) Venezuela shows the limits of Social Democracy in countries living outside of the Imperial Core - esp the dangers if youâre in the crosshairs already bc of oil     Â
started out as populism, gradually grew as confronted more. Â Â Â Â Â Â shows shaping influence on political organs from actions of foreign actors - if youâve survived a coup before, youâre gonna become paranoid about any more of them - especially when the coup plotters say âhey lets do more coupsâ Â Â Â Â
also shows the weakness of only having a small number of charasmatic faces representing the movement - if one dies and theres no clear and popular replacement, then youâll lose ppl who were largely brought in by the charisma, weakening your political project, and creating cracks for reactionary forces to take advantage of - especially in times of transition. Â Â Â Â
bourgeoisie still control a majority of the economy.       Capitalist businesses are internally unaccountable, and in this age of intensified global trade, one can punish countries for straying from the pack by moving business & focus away. If youâre looking for dictatorships, look at the thousands of private companies run as dictatorships daily    Â
capital flight is a real effect, precisely because socialism is fundamentally and irreconcilably against the self-interest of the bourgeoisie. not necessarily against the interest of the humans-who-are-also-bourgeois, but of the impersonal self-sustaining force of capital. Â Â Â Â Â Â
Have you ever pulled something out of an electrical socket, and seen a quick spark? The reason that occurs is bc of whatâs called an induction current, which is a fancy physics word for flowing electricity not liking to suddenly change its flow. If you accidentally touch that spark, you might feel it, but youll live to tell the tale. But if you only take the plug out halfway & touch it, thatâs a different story. Capital flows similarly.
my country (lithuania) has been facing sky-high emigration since the collapse of the USSR (with an added boost after 08-09), we have also consistently had one of the highest suicide rates in the world (#7), a minimum wage of about 3 Euros an hour (after a recent increase), as well as one of the highest prison populations in Europe (discounting Russia & Belarus⌠which likeâŚ.)  Â
when are we gonna be invaded? when will the US media talk about our pain? Â
oh wait, they did. We cried all pretty for the TV cameras, then they got a bozo nobody really knew of to denounce the government, who they called dictatorial (though it was far from ideal, massive bureaucracies dont tend to mix well with single-person-decision-making). And to be fair, the fact that the government was unpopular wasnt entirely undeserved. But what was promised to us was the idea of âFreedomâ, âFree Enterpriseâ; to âGet Rid of Corruptionâ and institute âRealâ Democracy". They said weâd be integrated into the glorious capitalist west, and we understood that to mean that weâd be in the position of a Germany, or at least an Austria or smth. But they never meant to integrate us into the imperial Core, we have always been seen as part of the Periphery - the âassumedâ violence that ânaturallyâ happens. Â Â
Then we got to where we our today. Some of the stuffs more available, but expensive. Most of the bureaucracyâs still around, it just helps fewer people. We stand as an example of what to expect, in one of the best case scenarios, you would join our emigrees now making up a significant percentage of underpaid house-servants aka maids across the EU. Â
if we want the people of Venezuela to be healthy, safe, and fulfilled, then:
speak out and pointing to the effects of US sanctions is incredibly important. Theyâve already killed 40,000 people in the last year, and 300,000 more are in extreme danger (and millions more in long-term risk).
what does it mean when you simultaneously sanction trade with a place but also demand they let you give them humanitarian aid?
if there is to be action taken by the international community, then the US has forfeited its right to speak. They threw it away once in 2002, and obama rhetorically picked it up and dusted it off so that trump could throw it in a bigger dumpster, thats also on fire. However we also still live in a world deeply shaped by US Hegemony, so the opinions of its close trade partners & closest-knit media buds should be seen as influenced as such. Doesnât mean that theyre wrong on everything too, but they still feel the magnetic pull of the US economy and ecosystem (as well as their own potentially imperial interests) and the effect of that force cannot be discounted.
transitioning our economies away from oil & away from globalized neoliberalism which only values peripheral states by their exports - dissolves tensions of how to produce in unproductive terrain  Â
socialize medicine in the US, so that drug companies run by dictatorships canât control their lives & ours. healthcare is especially reliant on imports, sanctions affect especially strongly. Â
normalize the ideas of Socialism, without taking the easy way out of âoh no dont think of Venezuela, think of sweden or denmarkâ. None of them are Socialist, but to avoid the complexities of Venezuela is to imagine that US attempts at socialism wouldnât involve significant capital flight. If we donât consider that, if we donât have solid actionable plans to deal with that, while also facing the inherent complexity of changing material conditions, then weâre gonna waste whatever shot we get. Â Â
redirect conversation normally centered around government towards support of the tens of thousands of small business co-operatives, where people live their daily lives in a democratic manner.
on The Communes:
âdelegating responsibility throughout all members, and bringing important decisions to the whole to work through and find the best possible solution⌠They create âcollective criteriaâ together; agreements stipulating whether individuals have power over certain decisions or whether it is up to the whole group. However, he assures that these âare not rigid, they can change at any moment.â The cooperative I lived with in Venezuela had regular organizational meetings where they informally came to agreement and were even able to come back to re-evaluate decisions that didn´t seem to be satisfactory for the whole group in this same way. Decisions and decision making, in this way, are viewed as a process not contained by meetings and discussions in board rooms, but are always being analyzed and made better by the process of putting them into action, and not only by thinking them out and writing them down.â
- the âSelf Government of the Producersâ - aka what it looks like for cooks to govern. Â Â
they have communal councils as well - neighborhood councils in the same vein that so many (rightfully) find inspiring in Kurdistan . They preexisted chavez, but they were able to proliferate and be given legal recognition through him. I understand that legal recognition can act to ânameâ a body & pin it to smth that doesnât match its requisite variety - how dynamic it is, but imo as its currently legislated it recognizes a good amount of the autonomy that they had already been excersizing. - liable to change                  government recognition of co-ops has drawbacks too, and correlates negatively with that coopâs success      Â
"A good example of this intention is the de-emphasis that cooperatives in Venezuela put on advertising or âmarketingâ products, and instead push to find more people to become part of the cooperative, and choose the services or products they provide based on community decisions about what is needed. A cooperative I worked in [âŚ] was originally a family owned and operated theater group that traveled around the country performing theater pieces that highlighted social and environmental issues. When they joined the [âŚ] cooperative, the larger co-op did an analysis and decided they wanted a natural fruit juice concentrate producer and gave the group a loan to acquire capital and start producing. They have been doing this for only a couple of years now but have already paid back the loan to the larger cooperative and are bringing extra money in to support themselves, better their services, and supply extra funds to the larger cooperative for community projects such as the recently [2012] built community health center⌠        Â
The cooperative services I experienced and learned about in Venezuela were health, dental, food, and a separate example of trash services. A dental cooperative [âŚ] provides quality dental services (I know because I used them) almost every day for affordable prices. You don´t have to be a member of the cooperative, and you don´t have to make an appointment. It takes only a couple of hours, and emergency situations are treated with urgency. The health center, built with funds provided by all the associated cooperatives[âŚ], works the same way. Anyone can go there, the services are subsidized by the cooperative so they are affordable, the clinic and workspaces are clean and well taken care of, and the quality of the service is great. Worker-members of the cooperative receive health care at the facility without charge except for the massage and acupuncture services that they also provide at a really low price.
[âŚ] food services are priced to provide more access to food for the community in which it exists. The original and persistent intention is to make the best situation for people on all ends of the process. The producers are part of the cooperative and are part of the group that decides the prices that growers get, as well as the prices that the food is sold for. This means that both farmers and workers at the market decide what to charge a person, which ultimately affects how much money the growers receive, as well as if the food is affordable for the people who need to eat who live in the city. In a normal capitalist market system these parties are separated and put up against each other, raising prices for consumers and lowering them for small producers, excluding those people from getting enough money to afford all the necessities that are typically only provided at a high price.
One communal council, a parallel governing organization of community members linked to investment funds from the national government, in the city of Merida, Venezuela organized themselves to get funds to buy a trash collection truck. The truck at the time was used for a specific waste removal project that removed waste from their community regularly but was not a traditional collection service. However, they did have plans to expand the project to start their own collection service, and this would be provided by the commal council, an anti-capitalist organization which does not require people to pay for the service. Although this is not a âco-operativeâ as some hardliner co-operative enthusiasts might point out, it is a horizontal anti-capitalist organization widening access of necessary services to the larger community run by community members; following cooperative values of equity, inclusion, and solidarity I believe this to be an example of cooperative economics and action. It appears to me that economic inclusion is much more likely to widen only when those who are being excluded are included in the process of organizing the services and are in control of the economy.â
until the communes, workers cooperatives, and the like are strong enough to rule themselves, having Maduro in power is the only option given to us which doesnât trigger the control of reactionaries. People make their own history, but not in situations of their choosing - the exact outcome isnât predetermined, but thereâs only a limited number of poles - gravitational attractors - towards which that trajectory is heading at any particular time. Â Â
if maduro acts to squash the power of the communes, then thats a different situation. but until that point, we outside of the country must work to center any discussion on these bodies - they are the heart of the country and of whatever social revolution has occurred/is further possible. They are filled with lessons for us to learn from, and show how rich and dynamic the organized populace can be if they are allowed to control their communities. (ex of dealing with gang violence from @ 22:50) Â Â Â Â
This is all said with recognition that many chavistas have acted against communes, the bureaucratic machine acts to co-opt much of their energy, its linguistically obscured the concept of "ownershipâ with that of âcontrolâ, and that the state has changed its messages over time. But the heart of the communes is whatâs a priority, and they have acted against the government overstepping its bounds & mis-identifying them. But whats important is that thereâs a feedback process in the gvt to actually allow them to assert their autonomy. Liberals will do their utmost to close those channels.
If Guaido and the Popular Will take control of power, be assured that whatever gains made in organizing the everyday people of Venezuela will be at the top of the chopping block. How effective that suppression turns out to be is undetermined - it might turn out to strengthen the communes, but that outcome would be damage control, not something to try and bullseye.
Effective Propaganda knows that its more effective to control whatâs left out than control whatâs put in. Keep that in mind, and study trajectories and forces.

Anonymous said: Hi, would it be possible for you to just reupload the lydia hair post? As itâs marked as sensitive content, I canât see the picture and Iâd really like to be able to have a look at it before I download it.
Hi! I emailed tumblr support about it since it has been over a month since it has been up for review. Hopefully they get it worked out soon <3 there is a picture of it on my download page if you want to look at it there
Anonymous said: Hey, how do I do Patreon? I want to but iâm new to all those things of Patreon cause now I want lots of hairs that need it, and I wanna learn how can I Patreon you!
Hello! Hopefully you see this haha. Patreon is sort of like Netlfix in it is a monthly charge for goods. To get 3 cc hairs early each month, it is a $1 pledge. Higher pledges get better rewards(such as watching me work on cc, getting to vote on hair releases, and more). I think that Patreon is a great way to help support creators as long as they do it right (no exclusive CC). I really hope this helps you and thank you so much if you decide to pledge any ammount <3
Anonymous said: When are going to upload your maxis match hairlines? Like in a post
oml I am horrible lmao I deleted them and donât seem to have them backed up, but I will maybe make more in the future?? I honestly donât find them that usable on most hairs but everybody is different so we will see <3

Anonymous said: Hey! I đ¤ ur content btw and I wanted to just like clarify something. Ur posts say u can recollect but donât include the mesh. What does that mean exactly??? Do people still need the mesh for the recollections to show up in game?? Sorry if this is really dumb, Iâm a new simblr. Thx!      Â
hey!! sorry for the super late reply omg, welcome to simblr!! it is kinda crazy here but hopefully u can find ur peeps and make a nice home :) anywaysssss i think u mean recoloring, which is like when people add different colors other than the 18 EA base colors. I donât allow people to use the meshes mainly bc I know that sometimes I have to go back and update things and this way the recolors donât have a broken mesh and require that person to redo their package.
Anonymous said: whose ur fave member of lOoNa

(I have a windows laptop). Anyway, I recently discovered your hairs and I am in love!! Thank you for making so many beautiful pieces of cc!
urgg i really wish i could make video tutorials and stuff for blender and hairs :( I have tried about 3 or 4 times to record/stream and it is so laggy and just pure shit on stream and twitch. I kind of just learned stuff as i went in blender but a must have is a mouse of some kind, otherwise it is 10x harder
@alexschmidt629 said: Hey! I hope youâre doing a bit better than the last time you made your last post! Iâm sorry to hear about all of that, being a senior is so difficult and college stuff is even more difficult. I hope youâre doing better!
thank you! Iâm doing a bit better now :)
Anonymous said: holy shit it sounds like everything that literally couldâve gone wrong did. wishing u love and luck bb. and also i think its absolutely FINE that u put ur stuff up on patreon early, itâs still free in the end!! its just a choice to actually compensate cc creators for all that they do for us. god that person was just so rude and im kinda surprised at how kindly you took it. props to u xxÂ
yeah dsgf everything kinda went shitty the past few months but hopefully it all turns itself around :) and I try not to pick at any rude anons/asks in general bc I feel like by doing that it just causes more attention on the issue and more people/trolls want to jump on the band wagon. Thank you!!

we need to invent a new word for when the place ur living in just sucks so bad u hate everything and lose a bit of enjoyment from life. like regular depression but different.Â
i just moved out of our old apartment we stayed in since june 2019. the walls were tall, grey-white with grey carpet and grey-brown counters and a too small kitchen. the ceilings were tall but in an uncomfortable way, with lots of pipes and vents and beams painted grey. there were exactly 3 windows in the whole 2 bedroom apartment, two side by side in the living room, one tiny narrow one in our bedroom. there was little view to speak of, just more brick and a view of the sky and some birds our cats would watch in the morning. there was very very few overhead lights-- one over a table that was sort of a dining room but mostly was my gfâs desk, and some small led ones in the kitchen. that was it. no bedrooms had lights, we had to use exclusively lamps and given how tall the ceilings were they did very little to help brighten it up
i was enthusiastic at first abt living with my gf and starting a new chapter in life. i tried to make myself at home, get settled in. i tried cooking more, and i became frustrated with the narrow kitchen. even tho i am basically nocturnal the lack sunlight was wearing on me. i would have gone outside more, but im disabled and our building was not as wheelchair accessible as they liked to claim--i was basically stuck unless i wanted to make sure someone went with me to help get me to the door and open them for me, so just talking a walk outside was a giant pain.
slowly, even before lockdown, i lost my luster for life and going outside. i didnât wanna bother. lockdown intensified it, i think, as before i would find reasons to go out even in the freezing cold, bc at least in the city as dreary as it was there was Stuff. Places. new things to try. then there wasnât even that. i stared at grey-white walls and hated it. i hated how tall the ceilings were. we couldnât even change the batteries in the smoke detectors if they were low bc they were 12 feet in the fucking air and loud as shit so we had to call maintenance (they went off while we were moving out. maintenance didnât even come for reference, and the manager just said âshe would talk to themâ and then hung up on me like we didnt have to sleep there with them blaring all night). clutter piled up easily and stressed me out but i had no motivation to clean. i only realize looking back that i fucking hated that place. if i could paint the walls or have more windows or a fucking balcony i would probably feel at least a little better but we couldnt so much as hang smth up without permission and if we did we had to pay a fine to our landlord.
and believe me i know people have it worse. i know some people have to live with massive roach infestations, or mold problems, or the walls caving in, or faulty wiring. i know people have to live with shitty or no water, barely scraping by, and this isnt to say they dont suffer, they probably suffer the same thing but more.Â
we had to move out bc the cold was just not doing a lot of us favors and i missed my home state, but we werenât able to find a place to rent. luckily my great grandma passed away in 2016 and my family was able to keep the house. its not in any condition to sell or rent or anything as a lot of the pipes are old and clogged, and the AC vents were put DIRECTLY on top of the wiring so the place is a hazard but (probably) wont actively kill us, and my family said we can live here if we help fix it up and dont mind the inconvenience. i know its more than other ppl have and im thankful for it. we (mostly) have AC, one working shower, toilets, a fridge, a haunted microwave, internet i had to pay to get set up, and a place to sleep. but now i can just take a step out on the porch. enjoy the slightly cool air of early morning and how it smells. i can open the windows and get sunlight and let my cats freely watch birds. our kitchen isnt cramped. things are kinda dirty but they are warm colors with lower ceilings and despite how worn the house is and how much work it needs it feels like a breath of fresh air. like an actual place designed for ppl to live in and enjoy living in rather than smth resembling an underground bunker.Â
i think we as a society have undermined the very real fact that is: people need nice places to live to be mentally healthy too. we need to be able to get fresh air, and sunlight at least a few hours a day, and have control over our spaces. they are not luxuries but instead something core to the human experience we should acknowledge and encourage. we canât just keep making shitty industrial apartments build like prisons or bunkers. humans are animals we need like, enrichment. pleasure. comfort. small things that make life a little easier. things you dont realize you need until youâre very far gone or finally get them back and realize how miserable you were.

god free! is such a dumb goofy series i love it like shit gets real sometimes but when it comes down to it itâs just a bunch of dumb goofy teens living their lives together?? i have compiled a list of my favorite examples from s1
makoto: *enters haruâs house uninvited, walks right into the bathroom while haruâs in the bath, presumably naked* hey
haru: ....................................hey
LIKe he just.... Accepts that this is happening, theres like a solid like 2 seconds of him just staring at makoto like heâs debating within himself whether to Say It or not before almost tangibly going âfuck itâ & just going along w/ it*
haru & makoto & nagisa going âis it really okay to dig up our old trophy if rin isnât here? idk it just feels wrong w/o himâ only to find out that rin not only beat them there but also fucking just went ahead and dug it up by himself hfjdkjgd
haru having some kind of sixth sense for sugar apparently??? when nagisa throws âsaltâ on them he like tenses up all dramatic & goes âthis isnt salt........................ itâs sugarâ like ok????? just gonna let that one go i guess
rin having sharp teeth for absolutely no fucking reason
haru & rin not noticing the fucking pool they're about to race in is empty????
haru straight up rejecting their encounter with rin & trying to convince himself they all hallucinated him like huh? what? rin?? haha impossible heâs in australia thereâs no way he couldve been at the swim club last night. no theres no such thing as airplanes heâs gone forever. yes im sure
rin going back to the old swim club again bc the first time his melodramatic brooding was interrupted by those old elementary school Goons showing up so he needed a do-over
nagisa skinny dipping in samezukaâs pool??? an apparently prestigious competitive swimming powerhouse that trains up future professional gold medalists, reigning champions of interhigh swim meets near and far in that same water & nagisa just jumps the fuck in dick out no fucks to give whatsoever???? this bitch
haru literally only showing up to both the old swim club and samezuka academy for the pools, itâs literally the equivalent of college students showing up to any given event for free food (and the fact that they had to break in both times, these Rowdy-Ass Teens)
rin showing up just in time to interrupt their illicit pool activities bc he Sensed Them
haru wearing his swimsuit under his clothes literally everywhere despite reportedly not having actually swum since middle school (except for in the ocean during summer, but itâs like the middle of spring rn?? is he just doing this in way advanced preparation? is this the equivalent of people who start posting abt halloween in july)
gou showing up to haruâs house bc apparently she just Knows where he lives (also haru hearing the doorbell & immediately submerging his head in the bath bc heâd rather drown than have to answer the door #relatable)
rei calling haru âharu-chan-sanâ upon first meeting him bc âharu-chanâ is what nagisa has been referring to him as so thatâs his sole point of reference but he also has to add his own honorific too bc come on
haru being instantly pissed at this random new fuck for calling him not only -chan, his Least favorite honorific, but now -san on top of it too??? Outrageous (and this is the same guy who reportedly âhates water,â a completely unacceptable sentiment that should under no circumstances be allowed anywhere near their team in the first place- honestly from haruâs pov itâs like âoh so this is the guy who hates water huh, this hot shitâ & then the hot shitâs all âyou must be haru-chan-sanâ he probably just immediately sees red ghdjsjf)
nagisaâs whole âwe need this guy bc he has a girly name just like us itâs fateâ thing even tho reiâs already in the track club doing pole vaulting that heâs obviously been training v hard to be able to do is such a stupid anime bullshit motivation & my favorite part of it is that their plan for recruiting him basically amounts to the whole gang of idiots showing up to all of reiâs practices and staring at him intensely from the corner until he joins them, like,,,, think of this from reiâs perspective heâs just minding his own business trying to perfect pole vaulting & these fuckers have fixated on him for no apparent reason? he canât even swim???
rei going so far out of his way to avoid admitting to nagisa that he canât swim that he comes up with this bullshit philosophy about âhumans evolved from the water so why would we regress and get back into it??? Checkmate yâall are fucking idiots now leave me aloneâ (& also the effort & passion he puts into the delivery, the overdramatic gesturing hfhhddjf rei are u sure u donât actually belong in the drama club)
after all that, rei up and deciding to leave the track team (even tho he literally structured his daily schedule around it, went running in the mornings & everything, read books n shit) to join the swim club bc haru just looked really, really cool while swimming that one time
haru legitimately having a hard time choosing between like 5 of the exact same swim suit
when theyâre trying to figure out why rei canât swim & haruâs like âthe water doesnât like himâ & nagisaâs immediately like âpoor rei-chan :(â like hfkglfkj he just Accepts
rei being so frustrated with his inability to swim that he blames it on his speedo & is very convinced that buying a new one will somehow solve all of his problems (& everyone else just going along w/ it like ok i guess itâs time to go swimsuit shopping then)
haru, the owner of the previously mentioned 5 identical swimsuits, joining in with everyone else to go shopping for even more swimsuits, and picking out another one that looks just fucking like the other 5 he already has
nagisa being told that he canât put their ugly-ass bird mascot on the swim team uniform so he puts âsecret iwatobi-chanâ on the back of the shirt that will be hidden beneath the jacket as if thatâs not Blatantly what he was told not to do (also the fact that anyone entrusted the handling of the uniforms to nagisa, the exact kind of person who would do exactly that kind of thing)
(ok this one isnt rly goofy but haru just bit his ice cream & im so intimidated rn??)
rinâs fucking 6th sense for haru again???? âsmells like mackerelâ????? i truly cannot handle this one (haru & company are looking in at samezukaâs practice through the window & rinâs just like âHUH what the fuck is that whoâs there i smell Mackerelâ like????? oh my fucking god)
amakata âwe donât have enough money for a training campâ miho renting herself and gou a room at a lodge on the beach?????? power move
this goddamn show having a fun ~spooky~ haunted house adventure right after everyone almost fucking Died
haruâs story about his âfirst loveâ being about a fucking waterfall igmgkdjkg
rin jogging on the beach the next morning & stopping by the tents like âwho r these fuckin dumbasses camping right on the shorelineâ & then he turns around and thereâs haru & his band of swimming idiots
rin waiting in the hallway at the interhigh in case haru comes by so he can casually get up & have a Cool And Dramatic confrontation w/ him where he brags how heâs gonna beat him in their upcoming race (which, even better, he purposely entered himself at a lower skill level to be able to do while probably his whole team went âuhhhh are u sure abt this lmao weâre kind of trying to be the best hereâ & hes just like âyeah yeah its fine itâs gonna be so fucking cool just waitâ)
haru apparently also having a Rin Sense where he just Feels that rin is there, watching him about to swim (although now that i think about it that bright red hair is probably a fuckin beacon, i bet literally everyone looked over at him the second he stepped out of that doorway- that and the massive aura of Teen Angst surrounding him at all times)
the whole thing with nagisa & reiâs operation at the summer festival to keep haru from seeing rin? first of all is v cute but they get so into it fjdhgkdj fucking dumb cute kids playing secret detective mission texting each other Classified Intel about the location of their targets while also trying to hide it from haru & makoto (who eventually find out bc nagisa is literally the worst liar ever while also already being the most suspect little shit out of all of them by nature)
rei getting so caught up in the detective shit that he ends up following rin out of the festival entirely & into town where the purpose of his pursuit in the first place is irrelevant bc haruâs not gonna suddenly happen upon rin at the elementary school?? rei is such a nosy bitch i love him
rei being such a nosy bitch that he inadvertently fixes the emotional turmoil that has been building between rin & the others unresolved for years
rin texting gou to get reiâs number bc he needs to have a Serious and Dramatic conversation w/ him but he didnt have the chance to exchange contact info the last time they yelled at each other behind the school
rin sitting alone in samezukaâs bus bc they banned him from swimming for being too obsessed w/ haru & he needs somewhere to Sulk
rin finding some random tree outside the swim meet & being like âthis reminds me of that tree from elementary schoolâ bc hes a nostalgic bitch like that
haru being able to find rin bc he saw the same tree earlier and went âwait, rinâs a nostalgic bitch, i know Exactly where the fuck he wentâ & Sure Enough
iwatobi getting themselves disqualified bc they wanted to swim w/ rin in an official race like??? i know itâs an emotional & satisfying moment but miho chewing them out for it afterward is so fucking funny like objectively this team was doing rly well & then suddenly went âu know what, we do what we want, this red guy is ours nowâ & the judges went âhmm............... noâ
in the v last episode when theyre all just sitting in a classroom w/ rin having him pretend to introduce himself as if he were a transfer student like theres absolutely no reason for this, theyre just goofing off together and reconnecting after having lost each other for so many years & itâs so dumb & heartwarming & the perfect way to close off the season & im crying i really do love this show i love these characters so much what a dumb cute goofy heartfelt show aaaaaa free is a treasure
*from the very 1st point: i know there r cultural differences to take into account where itâs probably not as big a deal for makoto to walk in on haruâs bath time in japan as it would be in like, america & the real issue haru takes w/ this happening is that his one little place of refuge in a world w/o water is being breached by this annoyingly persistent guy who not only interrupts his coping time but is actively trying to get him to leave it for âimportantâ things like âgoing to schoolâ and ânot being lateâ & the extended pause is really him registering this unpleasant situation & trying to decide if itâs worth it to fight for his solitude, ultimately deciding itâs not worth the energy and begrudgingly accepting makotoâs outstretched hand, though he vocalizes his displeasure by rejecting his -chan bc no one who pulls him away from the water is someone he can call a friend, not even his like. actual friend. only friend. either one
anyway i love free bye

With...everything going on...I think Iâve started feeling a need to pull away from my mom, which is difficult for me to handle. Iâd always thought me and her would be like her and her mom: close until the very end. Iâd always thought sheâd understand me better than most people, and that we could just...stay like we have.
but honestly some days i feel like i dont even know her anymore, and its starting to make me question whether i ever really did. shes been getting more and more fussy about things, over dramatizing reactions in response to me. sheâs always been kinda snooty about some things. but now it feels like its getting more and more dramatic. more things are causing that kinda reaction from her.
-i bring my dirty dishes to the kitchen so i can wash them. she comes in, sees them, and puts her hand over her forehead and her mouth drops open like id told her something horrible had happened. like she was so offended. she knows i hoard dishes sometimes. this is not news to her, and totally didnt call for that kinda reaction.
-i tell her i started a load of dishes so i could hurry and get mine cleared out too so she wouldnt have to do it. she huffs and gets mad because i didnt put a pot in like she wanted (which i didnt even know she had wanted to do). Instead of one pot, i had been able to fit three more small bowls. I thought it was a better trade off to get more done sooner instead of waiting and having more small things cluttering up our sink.
-someone pulled over to the other side of the road to check their mailbox at night. they had their lights on (as one does at night, and while in a car). I make a small remark about how the lights hurt my eyes. she curses and calls them names and gives them mean looks as we pass. once we were past, i was fine, but she was still huffing.
-someone double parks at the bank. its annoying, but it happens. i just âwhateverâ at it. she says âits amazing how many morons theyll hand licenses to these days, aint it?â
-repeat above sentence in different forms at every possible slight she finds in someones driving skills in town.
-last year i cried when there was a massive upswing in hate crimes. i was so angry. when i told her why i was upset, she wouldnt speak to me for two days.
-a friend was pushing to get a part of the house cleaned up so she could use the back porch. mom didnât want to and snapped at her, causing my friend to cry. i dont think sheâs apologized yet. she left it to me to handle, which involved having to make excuses for her behavior and apologizing in her place.
it just feels like shes mad at everything all the time now, and im starting to wonder if sheâs always been that way i just didnt notice it? like, showin your ass cause you can, just to be mean just...i dont like this. i dont like this spiteful angry person.
and like, when viv was here i told mom before viv arrived âshe has asthma. you cant be smoking around her.â so what does she do? doesnt listen to me. does it anyway. any other time its been brought up in the past her reasoning was âits my house, ill do what i want.â but for some reason i thought with viv being here as OUR guest, not just mine, mom wanted her here too, mom would listen, just this once.
i feel like im getting that feeling around her again that i had several years back. even thinking of my mother would cause an anxiety attack. I stayed with my sister and her husband for months to get away from her, and even thinking of her then made my stomach hurt and my throat to close up.
i know i have emotional issues. i know i do. but like... i own up to it. i know i get mad at things. i know i cry easily. but like. i feel like with some of this stuff, i have every right to be angry. meanwhile she said âanything to keep that bitch out.â (referring to electiontimes)
i think im finally seeing that i can love her, but it doesnt mean i have to like her, per se. and thats what kills me. i dont know how to do that. i feel like im more an âall or nothingâ type person, and i cant afford to do that to her.
and trying to talk about things in the past has just made her cry and get stupid drunk and bawl over how shes a horrible mother and i hate her just like everyone else, and shes useless and all this other stuff. my 21st birthday, i cried because she was talking about killing herself because her sister had died a month before. âMomâs gone, (sister)âs gone. I may as well be gone too.â my fucking -dad- calling me on my birthday was the highlight of my night, which i think says a lot. i was so #done with her that hearing him talk and try to be happy for me made me cry happy tears (after crying bc of her). i fled to a friendâs house that night and cried there too, telling her about everything.
i just feel like its getting to that point again where its impossible to be around her.

massive rant abt my life at the moment under a cut bc im stressed as hell
i moved to ohio in 2019 right out of college. the reason being my gfâs family wanted her to work at the clinic in cleveland. its a nice hospital. u can work basically anywhere w that kind of reference. i get it.Â
i was looking for work. im disabled and mentally ill. was going thru disability services. covid happened. couldnt use it bc they closed their doors in the meantime. jobs were gone for a while.Â
jobs have come back like a year and half later. gfâs mom says âwe cant keep paying braveâs rent too he needs to get a jobâ i also understand. i havent been able to work. jobs have been coming back. but its a little rushed. i feel bad being a burden. im still disabled. i apply around. i manage to get a job at the very shitty walmart my roommate works at. i think âitll be fine right itâll just be a while of working there until we move and i can save up a bit. ill have some spending money. i can help pay rent and bills. i applied for us to get our marriage license so i can get new glasses and my meds soonâÂ
then they put me on too many hours. commute times via bus are basically impossible, and long bus traveling in a wheelchair makes it even worse. i need a car. i can drive. my family said theyd help me get a car so i can get to and from work
gfâs mom refuses to take us to look at cars at all. gfâs mom says she doesnt like ANY i have picked out at all. she wants a kind of expensive subaru model that SHE likes. that SHE will buy a car and we will get what we get. at this point i am rly angry abt it but i need a car. im willing to tolerate it. she then says INSTEAD of paying rent i will pay off the car payment. thru her. im more annoyed. whatever having a job isnt bad.Â
now she is saying days later we arent âallowedâ to get married. not until she buys a house she wants us to move into (which they cant get until NEXT YEAR)??? at this point i am like âwhy are we even moving across the city when i wanna leave the state in the first place. neither of us like ohioâ. im also at the point where i dont know why i have the job or how ill keep it. bc im unmedicated and unable to see properly. i dont want to keep the job bc if i keep it i will be stuck w a car i didnt fucking want or ask her to get. that at this point im not entirely convinced she wont just take back the second smth goes wrong or sheâs unhappy w us. i want to leave this fucking state as soon as possible. i got physically sick at work. i still havent recovered. im not doing great. our building sucks. i hate ohio. i hate my job. i hate this. i hate getting it. i dont want the fucking car. im unmedicated and cant see very far and if i have to live like that for the next few months id rather do it inside where i can control my environment and keep cooking and cleaning and preparing to move easier. i dont know what iâm going to do abt it. i guess ill prob have to quit.Â
