Phantom Blood: Speedwagon. Regardless if it’s a whole meme in the community, o genuinely think it’s very brave of him to follow along in an adventure where everyone has powers but he doesn’t. He just raw dog’s every supernatural event and tries his best to be useful. It’s a noble thing.

Battle Tendency: Definitely Caesar Zeppeli. A much more complex and interesting character than his predecessor (William Zeppeli, I mean). I loved his design, personality and charisma regardless if I couldn’t resonate at all with his backstory. I also really enjoyed his rivalry/friendship with Joseph. I’ve always loved the smart/snarky guy x himbo dynamic!

Stardust Crusaders: I love kakyoin with all my heart and soul and I will never shut up about it. I resonated deeply with him since I know personally what it is like to be alone. I like how Araki portrayed his loneliness in a ‘im different than everyone I know’ way where he couldn’t relate to people the way others that. That childhood monologue— god! It hit so, so close to home. I couldn’t help but cry when the scene came up. That is when I realized how much the crusaders mattered to him. A bunch of people ‘like him’ and it’s such a sacred feeling when you’ve been feeling ‘off’ all your life. I also like that he’s always giving little fun facts he’s a bit like yapdollar

Diamond Is Unbreakable: Okuyasu. No question needed. Unlike his brother, Okuyasu is a very kind soul that has never killed anyone (at least on screen) even when he has endured so much abuse from his brother and father alike, something that would ‘justify it’ if he did became an evil character. He stopped looking for a way to kill his father because he can see the good in people and ‘accept them for who they are’. I can’t help but feel a deep sympathy for him. He had taken what his brother had told him about being better off dead so personally to the point where his first question after being healed by Josuke was (paraphrasing bc I don’t remember well) was something like “why did you save me when it would’ve been easier to let me die?”. Josuke came just in time to make him realize how much he actually mattered so he could evolve into the little goofball we all know and love.

Golden Wind: Giorno. I think most people who call him a ‘boring’ or ‘plain’ character often seem to forget that, of course, Giorno will not be a charismatic, sociable, talkative, — joseph — kind of guy. He was severely emotionally and physically neglected in his childhood to the point where showing emotions became useless since he knew he’d be left shaking in his craddle. From this emotional neglect, he started looking up at a gangster as some sort of parental figure. Someone who showed him basic human decency. Later, we get to see his ingenuity in battle. But I think one of the reasons he was so clever in life or death situations was because he has been in a ‘fight or flight’ mode since a very young age. He isn’t even ‘bottling up’ his emotions, he had repressed them deeply inside his brain to survive.

Stone Ocean: The main three. But mainly Foo Fighters bc they’re so silly >_< and I can’t begin to imagine how marvellous it has to be to, one day, become a sentient being

Steel Ball Run: I can’t quite decide between Gyro and Johnny tbh. Johnny is a character who had been always pampered with his ‘rich life’ and was then shocked with the fact that once you’re not useful, or worse, become inconvenient for people, they stop caring about you. I often think about how bad his father was with him, not only rubbing Nicholas’ death all over his face rather often, the whole “God, you took the wrong son” page or just how he never went by to visit him when he had just gotten crippled. It was just plain cruel. Also when they followed Hot Pants to a church and Johnny had to relive some of his most traumatic life experiences again and still try to win. It was one of the best arcs in sbr imo.

Gyro, on another note, wasn’t a son of a wealthy family but had to carry the weight of generations and generations of knowledge on top of the family profession on his shoulders, having to execute a child. He’s also a silly goofball with his jokes that make little to no sense and him trying to explain the spin to johnny in life or death situations always has me cackling up ngl.

Jojolion: I haven’t started to read JOJOLION, but from what I’ve seen, Gappy seems to be a silly goofball who lacks direction and I love that in a man. Also that he’s a 2 x 1 combo, literally.

Jojolands: I haven’t read jojolands either, but good lord they sold me Dragona and Paco when I heard ‘transgender’ and ‘laburantes’. Plus everyone from the Jodio team also seems to be lacking direction and being a pinch silly

Giorno

He gets the cutest blush that he tries to hide by covering his face with his hand and clearing his throat. Passione's Don, who remains unwavering in the face of death, can't handle his beloved heaping praises upon him. No matter how suave he may act, your relationship is his first foray into romance. There's a slight shakiness to his voice when he returns your compliment. It doesn't help that there's this glint in your eye that tells him you'll be using this newfound knowledge to your advantage. He supposes it's only fair, considering his penchant for teasing you whenever possible, but maybe he'll go easy on you after learning how it feels. That isn't to say he dislikes your kind words — more so that the temporary loss in his composure is a strange sensation. Strange, yet not unwelcome.

Bruno

Your serious Capo melts on the spot at such ardent praise — he can feel Cupid's arrow piercing him in real time. He takes a moment to recollect himself, before wondering aloud what brought this on. When you point out that he compliments you all the time without any real reason, he puts his hands up in defense, conceding to your argument. If you're in public, he'll limit his response to a warm thank you. Should you be away from prying eyes, however, he'll pull you into an embrace. It serves a dual purpose. You won't be able to see the pink dusting his cheeks and he gets to wrap you up in his arms. You really are the light of his life, he'll tell you. As unconventional as the lifestyle you both lead is, it's moments like this where he delights in a shred of normalcy.

Fugo

His overactive brain temporarily short circuits. Fugo is the type to blush up to his ears, no matter how vehemently he denies it. This poor guy considers you infinitely out of his league and immediately assumes you broke the espresso machine or something and want to soften the blow by using flattery. He sputters for a few moments before his tongue recalls how to properly form coherent words. He'll downright ask what angle you're trying to use here. He isn't used to receiving compliments without the other person having an end goal in mind. Once it's clear you just felt like letting him know, he takes deep breaths to calm his heart, which he can hear thumping loudly. Fugo then starts saying that objectively speaking, you are far more aesthetically pleasing, and starts lifting off some mathematical terms that fly over your head.

Mista

Mista points at himself and says "Me?" just to make sure he heard you right. This is a big moment for him. It isn't that he doubts your physical attraction to him, but hearing it confirmed out loud in your sweet voice is a real treat. He'll sling an arm around your shoulder and drops the line, "You're not so bad yourself", because he thinks it sounds cool. Mista wants to maintain his laidback air, but when you say stuff like that, his stomach does soumersalts and his hands start sweating. He has this big goofy grin and confident gait the remainder of the day. The one trade off (in his opinion) is that the Pistols start swarming about, insisting that you pay them equal praise. Chaos ensues until you appease their neediness for your validation. It is his soul made manifest, after all.

Narancia

Narancia does a little fist pump and starts cheering internally. Although, if you called him pretty, he might pause and get petulant. He totally exudes machismo, he'll insist. He'll warm up to the compliment eventually, though, but he won't admit it. Regardless, he's hype about it. His energy skyrockets the rest of the day. He's all over you, peppering your face with kisses, picking you up and twirling you around, he's on cloud nine. He considers it his personal mission to shower you in praise and this only reaffirms the creed. He'll go up to random people in public, point at you, and say stuff like, "Isn't she so cute? That's my girlfriend, yeah, that pretty lady over there. Do you see her? Just look at her, she's amazing, the coolest ever, did you know she—" and on and on he'll go.

Abbacchio

Similar to Fugo, he initially assumes that you're trying to butter him up. He'll wryly ask what you intend to cajole him into doing. When you huff and insist that this is a no strings attached compliment, he'll study you, since he knows the many tells that signify you're lying. Upon realizing you're being genuine, he'll grumble a few words of gratitude and leave it at that. Don't let his composure fool you — his heart is pounding away like he's a hormonal teenager again. He will lie awake that night, your words repeating on a loop without his Stand's assistance, floating in this warm and fuzzy sensation. Abbacchio might not be the best with his words, but he swears an oath to compliment you properly the next time he sees you.

ok so! gio and fugo are very phoenix and edgeworth coded but, like, several times more insane. they are probably both young prodigy lawyers bc thats a possibility in this universe

fugo is a prosecutor with a perfect record, at least until giorno comes along. giorno pulls the same kind of insane bullshit u see phoenix pull, except earlier in trials and with full confidence. fugo is convinced giorno was sent from hell to kill him

like in canon giorno follows a sense of justice but its his own sense of justice. he'll get someone acquitted if he believes that their crime was justified. world's first lawful chaotic

trish is gio's partner bc im always on that giotrish friendship agenda. she's probably more of a kay than a maya if u get what i mean.

in this crossover the og bucci team are still friends in some way shape or form, either because bucciarati is also a defense attorney (aka got the rest of them acquitted) or he has a radar for troubled individuals no matter the universe

im leaning more towards bruno just being a regular guy, tbh. i feel like the impetus for gio and fugo getting closer is bruno getting framed for a murder. fugo can't defend him, so bruno asks if he knows anyone who can and fugo is like. fuck. i Do know a guy

nara and mista are like the larry of this universe ig? not much to say on them. fugo prob gets mad at them bc they keep helping giorno out

its very funny to me if gio represented abbacchio as one of his first cases. abbacchio is all like 'i killed my partner and i deserve to go to jail for it' and giorno is just 'anyway i got you acquitted of all charges'. then abba just hates this kid for doing his job

also if the joestars are included in this au, then they're the fey equivalent. jolyne is like the heir to the clan or whatever maya is. dio is a ghost who's been haunting their family for ages. giorno takes one look at that nonsense and decides he doesn't want to deal with it

I think my fave part of Golden Wind is when Giorno's just talking to someone in private. His talks with Polpo and that one conversation with Bucciarati in the car to Rome are hands down my favorite scenes in JJBA, I'm so dead serious. If Part 5 was a few chapters longer, I would've liked to just see Gio privately talk to Trish, Risotto, Diavolo, Doppio...Basically everyone, tbh.

Gio's kind of an opaque character with a lot happening beneath the hood. I know his "oooo son of Dio and Jonathan~" genes feel like a cheap gimmick, but it sets the context for how we engage with him. His motivations and intentions are ambiguous. Some people argue that he's a "bland mary sue who's always right," while others see him as a "cunning, power-hungry manipulator." He's "emotionless" yet "incredibly emotionally driven." Nothing is going on with him, and everything is going on with him. But his little conversations reveal so much even if they don't answer everything.

We don't even get the benefit we have with Jotaro, another super stoic protag, who appears in multiple parts which inform us more about him. Gio just appears in this one-off, mostly in the background, and that's it.

The English dub and manga translation couldn't even bother to keep his ridiculously formal speech pattern, and tries to.... make him sound hip? So that he's ""more interesting,"" I guess??

no one asked but I wanna yap a bit about my jujutsu kaisen drs (I have 3), more specifically on my cursed techniques from each one

so in my first dr I’m a first year with nobara, yuji and megumi

the second one is based in 2006 where satoru and the others are students; I’m also a first year there with nanami and haibara because I’ve seen quite a few people shift to be classmates with satoru, suguru and shoko, but I haven’t seen anyone wanting to be classmates with nanami. I really want to get to befriend nanami, and honestly haibara too

I’m my third one I’m a 3rd year at jujutsu tech with hakari and kirara cuz they’re honestly so cool and want to befriend them

all my techniques from all 3 drs are op as hell and YOU CANNOT SHAME ME!!! no offense but you must be stupid to choose a normal or mediocre technique and shift to a reality where sukuna and special grades like mahito exist (unless it’s an au or you’re a healer and won’t fight at all like shoko)

1st dr technique — in my first dr I actually scripted sorcerers can have up to 2 cursed techniques (but it’s EXTREMELY rare) because I couldn’t decide on which technique to have. my first technique is cursed spirit manipulation like suguru’s, and the second one is basically dazai’s ability but for the jjk universe - I can nullify cursed energy and techniques by being in close proximity with the target (skin to skin contact is not necessary!!)

2nd dr technique — I’m actually the most excited to experience the cursed technique I have in my 2nd dr; I also couldn’t decide on a cursed technique so I mixed 3 similar abilities into one and called it “cursed elemental alchemy”. I mixed:

—x-men storm’s weather manipulation

—giorno giovana’s gold experience (not gold experience requiem!!)

—necromantic abilities inspired by hu tao’s aesthetic

-> the last one came on a whim when I was thinking of what my uniform will look like: I have a skirt in one dr and long pants in another, so I wanted to have shorts in this one and hu tao’s outfit suddenly came to my mind because I love it so much!!! so I decided I’ll wear hu tao’s exact clothes (but in dark blue with less details so it will look like an usual uniform) and I kinda wanted her aesthetic so I decided to include some necromancy elements in my technique. given all the abilities mixed into one, I can already control living creatures (animals and plants created from inorganic matter), so it will also kinda make sense to control spirits I imbue with cursed energy - they’re not limited to human spirits, but the spirits of deceased animals and plants as well :)

since I’m going to be satoru’s underclassman, I don’t need him to make fun of me for being weak like he did with poor Ijichi 😭 being seen as weak by present gojo is already pretty humbling, let alone by his highschool self!! I don’t need it

3rd dr technique — I created this dr on a whim specifically for the technique. I was thinking what else I can add to the previous techniques to flesh them out more and I thought “you know what would be a BUSTED ability? being able to control multiple jjba stands!!”. I didn’t have any way to add this ability to the previous ones, so I created a whole new dr for it :))

basically the proper cursed technique is called ‘soul binding’ that is the core ability that allows me to summon and control nine shikigami (I scripted the stands are shikigamis) just like megumi can control the 10 shikigami from the 10 shadows technique. the 9 stands I chosen are:

—crazy diamond (for healing since reversed cursed technique costs too much cursed energy!!)

—star platinum: the world

—gold experience (might change this one, not sure tbh)

—stone free

—wonder of u

—the hand

—diver down

—jail house lock

—heaven’s door

I’ve chosen a few op stands to make sure nobody beats my ass, one with a healing ability and I had fun with the rest — I wanted some supportive elements as well

I also scripted the shikigami/stands can speak as well and all have distinct personalities, so they’ll feel more like allies than mindless pets

I’m very excited to use jail house lock’s ability the most, I think it’s so great to disorientate opponents and it will come in handy especially in the culling game arc, so I won’t be forced to kill anyone 😭

I honestly choose heaven door not because it’s kinda op, but more for intel gathering. I recently read the jjk light novels and they really opened up my eyes on how there’s so much more in the jjk verse than fighting curses; intel gathering is extremely important especially when it comes to curse users since they’re smarter than normal curses - the chapters where nobara and inumaki fought that curse speech user and the one with Ijichi at work really helped me get more insight into the jjk verse

kinda fun fact: wonder of u is my only automatic shikigami. it doesn’t spend time with me and it rarely speaks and I can’t control it to a full extent yet, it only has one duty and it’s to protect me by redirecting misfortunes to the ones that seek to harm me

I think this guy loves springtime walks!! He would love the sprouting flowers and trees since his stand revolves around life and stuff. I think just those gorgeous daytime walks would be really fun for him <3

Oddly enough, your hands. Not like Kira tho LMFAOOOOO more like... just how gentle you are. He loved when you run your hands through his hair or cup his face. He also loves when you tell stories. He's a sucker for just listening to how you tell him stories <333

This man has such a soft and tinee voice, so I think he would just comfort you through speaking to you. He would rub your arms and give you a soft hug while quietly telling you that everything's going to be okay. If you need him to be quiet though, he will and just sit next to you until you feel better

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

Oh, marriage, 100%. This man could be with you for the rest of his life tbh. Maybe even kids if you wanted them. I think he just wants that iconic loving family like the one he never grew up in. I think he would love to adopt children with you and make a mini familia <3

He's a babygirl, but he is a dominant babygirl LMFAOOO. He literally becomes a capo at 15, so I think he would be the more dominant one tbh

You two don't fight often, but when you do, it is always resolved rather quickly through conversation. This man loves you way too much to just argue with you over stupid crap. So if there is an argument, the two of you will take a little time away from each other and then have a conversation. He thinks communication is very important, and wants you two do use it often <3

Oh, this man is so grateful for you <33 I think one of his love languages is acts of service, so when you two do some of those for each other, it makes him swoon and he can't thank you enough for everything you do for him <3

If you didn't know he was in the mafia before you dated, I think he would hide that from you for as long as he could because he didn't want you to get involved in anything dangerous but other than that, he is very open with you :)

I think you made him a little more open tbh. He's a pretty reserved guy and had a lot of past trauma he had to heal, but you helped him with that healing and made him more open to you. He now smiles a lot more and is much more social <3

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

Honestly, no. Mista jokingly flirts with you, but never crosses any lines and knows better than that. Plus, your friends are really cool, so Giorno isnt worried at all <3

He definitely looks at you more than he looks at anyone else <3. He will just admire the things you do for him and will express that love for you through words. This is only obvious to you though as he has made it clear that he likes to admire you. To others, they couldn't even tell if the boy was in love

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

He does let everyone know that you two are together. He never brags, but he never fails to mention you to others. However, he is not a big fan of PDA. He will gladly hold your hand in public and even give you hugs, but her will never kiss you in public I dont think. He just prefers to have that aspect of your relationship be for the two of you only <3

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that's beneficial in a relationship.

Communication and the ability to tell you how much he loves you. He will never fail to mention how much you mean to him and whenever you two have a bump, he will make sure to ask what's wrong or even just talk to you. He may be a quiet guy, but he sure knows how to talk to you

I think he is! He prefers cuddling and kissing right before bed though, I think the sunlight for him means work, but nighttime is cuddle and kissy time for him <3

He was used to being alone for a very long time, but when you are gone, he will just be super lonely. He'll stare off into space for a little, but still be doing work. Night time is the worst if you're gone though. He cant fall asleep without you

This man would kill for you. Yeah. He's a little feral, but he NEEDS you to be safe and honestly, he needs this relationship with you. If you're unhappy, he will be more than willing to change what you don't like, but will never change who he is. But he would do anything for you tbh

AU where Josuke, Giorno and Jolyne got to meet, but since Josuke speaks Japanese, Giorno speaks Italian and Jolyne speaks English, they hardly understand each other which complicates things when they're caught in a situation that forces them to work together.

This would be interesting because there is the strange trend in part 5 where EVERYONE just seems to understand Giorno’s intent, regardless of what Giorno is saying — i.e: that time Giorno fucked up his arm and said something about “our determined willpower will light the path!” and actually meant “Hey, I’m spraying my blood on this mf’s ice so you can see where to aim”.

Pitting that against Josuke’s slightly oblivious nature and much more immature attitude, and Jolyne’s natural fighting intuition and intelligence would be a little funny — esp if they’re the canon ages relative to Jolyne’s part specifically (Giorno being 26 and Josuke being 28 while Jolyne is still 19 - 20)

Also, GER would be nightmare inducing for those two if Giorno can’t fully explain it to them — just this lanky, vaguely insectoid THING with these bulging pink eyes that has a nondescript power that’s just “No.” made into an ability. I think Giorno would be genuinely scary tbh.

(I did a La Squadra version of this first a little while ago, so for gits and shiggles I had to do the main team too as the second installment of this madness)

Bruno Bucciarati: 10/10

• I adore this mother of five with all my heart, I bet his chest would be so comfortable

• considering his height (185cm/6'1"), his chest would be easily accessible for ones face

• he's fairly slender, but seems to have quite a firm build, adding a comfortable firmness to the experience

• and paired with his kind paternal nature, I can see the overall experience being perfect as he'd happily let it just happen, perhaps seeing it as a silly form of affection and even perhaps even hugging back, only bringing one even closer to his chest

• Overall, a perfect, sweet VIP face in man titty experience

• bonus points for the open chested jacket (*grabby hands*)

Leone Abbacchio: 69/10

• for one, he is freaking tall too (188cm/6'2"), so one would have EXQUISITE access to dem bozongas

• he's broad too, broader than Bruno at least, so there'd be a lot to smoosh your face into, and a lot to touch

• I feel like he'd have quite a firm chest also

• was tempted to take points off for some possible flaws in his personality, considering he comes across as quite moody (and blue haha)

• but honestly, I feel like he'd freeze and not really give af

• with the smallest chance of being beaten off of him, face in tit experience is totally worth it

Guido Mista: 7/10

• the gun boii

• love him so much, but he gets some points off for possible reasons I will explain in a moment

• on a positive note, he's also tall (182cm/6'0"), therefore, good access again

• I feel like he'd radiate a natural warmth as well, and he is also fairly broad/muscular, so it'd be pretty comfortable

• however

• I hate to be the one to say it, but I feel like his musky smell would ruin the experience (he kinda stinky)

• his personality however pairs fairly well though, he's sweet

• if he put on some aftershave, he'd get an extra point

Narancia Ghirga (aged up if desired): 8/10

• the absolute bb

• he's an absolute sweetheart

• although he's a lot slenderer and a bit shorter (170.5cm/5'7") than the others, I feel like he'd be a pretty good head in chest experience

• tbh, with him, I'm talking about more affectionately, not as feral as I feel towards some of the others, he's seems too innocent for that

• but anyways, he's pretty muscular for his size and also, I feel like he'd give off a natural body heat too that's comforting, therefore making the experience comfortable too

• overall, it'd be a nice, adorable experience to rest one's head on his chest

Pannacotta Fugo (aged up if desired): 6/10

• swiss cheese boi

• I think it'd be a pretty decent experience

• he's pretty tall for one (178cm/5'10") and I feel like he'd be comfy

• the only problem with this is maybe how he'd react or go about dealing with someone burying their face into his tits

• I feel like he'd just stand there, completely tense and stiff with his hands at his sides

• that would either be the case or I feel like he'd be somewhat outraged and maybe even get a bit pissy about it

• overall though, excluding those possible factors, decent experience but not the best

Giorno Giovanna (aged up if desired): 8/10

• golden boi gets a solid eight

• he's fairly tall (172cm/5'8") and plus he also gets bonus points for the boob window

• I feel like he'd also have a natural warmth, not in an uncomfortable way though

• he's pretty reserved, so as perplexed as he'd intially seem if someone were to bury their face in his chest, I don't think he'd do anything

• I think he'd just let it happen tbh

• HOWEVER

• we need to also consider that he has Brando genes flowing through him

• so, maybe on another occasion, he'd indulge in it

• overall, it would be a pretty 'golden experience'

Two personal preferences for the Jojolands: it does not end on a downer note and that the author does not play Jodio's mental illness for horror.

definitely gonna agree with you on the second one, though slight disagreement on the first one. part nine could very well be the last jojo’s we’re ever gonna get, so it makes a lot of sense that people are gonna want it to end on a happy note. and traditionally, every part has ended with the characters at least reaching some level of satisfaction and personal fulfillment, but there has ALWAYS been casualties along the way, ranging from that one side character to the entire core cast minus a literal child. the happiest ending we got was in part four, which definitely had a more relaxed slice-of-life vibe to it than part nine, which already parallels part five, a story where literally half the cast gets killed off as they brutally slaughter all their enemies. having everyone in the main cast survive to the end seems unlikely, and tbh, i do enjoy the fact that in a lot of jojo stories, anyone can die. even if i love these characters with all my heart, it is an effective narrative choice to kill them off in order to raise the stakes. nearly every death in this series feels like an emotional gut punch without sidelining the actual agency of the character being killed (rip george jr, the least important joestar). depending on what kind of story araki wants to tell, a bittersweet ending could be more effective than an unconditionally happy one. but hey, if it’s his final outing in the world he created, ¡he might actually feel like being merciful to his characters for once! and if it’s not, well, i’ll look forward to all the fix fics everyone writes where everyone lives.

as for jodio’s mental illness, this one has me a bit worried. araki has made a lot of dubious writing decisions in the past on sensitive topics like this (overuse of sa, “curing” johnny’s disability, side characters that come off as dated ethnic caricatures) but he has made a consistent effort to include a lot of demographics that don’t show up in a lot of manga, and his writing of characters from said demographics has considerably improved over time. tracking the women in his stories, from erina to lisa lisa to trish to jolyne to yasuho, and how they’re treated tells a fascinating story in and of itself. johnny has a lot of emotional depth and character beyond his disability. this series honestly has more black characters than any other manga/anime i can think of (though i haven’t watched afro samurai yet). there are absolutely problematic elements here to critique and pick apart, but i kinda prefer this flawed approach to representation than the nonexistent state of it in other similar stories. but getting back on track, araki has written a lot of shit in the past, so he could definitely fumble the ball again here. however, i personally think there’s currently more setup in the story for jodio to become more of an antihero in line with giorno or johnny. he’s on good terms with at least two of his family members, an achievement hitherto unheard of in this series, and he’s depicted as more of a goofy teen who makes bad decisions somewhat in line with the criteria for antisocial personality disorder than an irredeemable monster. it’s far too early in the story to tell where this is headed, though, so overall we just have to cross our fingers and hope that araki goes for a more sensitive, nuanced portrayal of a protagonist with aspd instead of going all “lol he’s joDIO what did you expect”

The Part 3 Dilemma

I have one of this random thoughts of mine and it's about one of the complaints about Stardust Crusaders

"I dropped at Part 3 because the plot dragged too long" "The Monster-of-the week trope made it boring"

Personally, I don't mind it (thanks to Jotaro's presence tbh). But I do understand why others feel that way. I feel like the reason Araki decided to stick with that set-up is because for one, it's a shonen series (a.k.a a manga who's targeted for young boys), and two that it's because it's his way of experimenting with a new power system.

So, you can't really blame a guy who wanted to test things out in the beginning rather than to focus on writing a more engaging story, more so when him knowing that the introduction of Stands and their powers was able to bring him the most commercial success.

But from a writer's perspective and someone who watches a lot of shows, I think what made SC such a sludge to get through is this part's lack of subplots.

What do I mean by that? Let me explain:

"A subplot is a narrative thread that is woven through the media to support the elements of the main plot. A subplot can build out the conflict in the main plot or it can be a vehicle for a secondary character's storyline."

Essentially, it's a method of fleshing out the story more by introducing the audience a side story to either tackle a theme that's related to the main plot or develop a character more to better understand their purpose in the story.

Now let's look at Part 3

The central point of this part is that a big bad has returned to wreak havoc on the Joestars and the world and it's the heroes' job is to get rid of him once and for all. It's odyssey-based where we get to see the guys go on this journey and fight the bad guys until they reach the final stage.

But because this part involves just that- the fighting bad guys part- for 40+ episodes, it bores the audience because of how repetitive it's becoming. There's nothing else it has going on for it to keep the audience engaged.

There's a significant lack of subplots to enhance their journey to Egypt.

Compare that to the other parts…

Part 4: A slice-of-life/murder mystery plot that focuses on the stories of its residents (e.g. Koichi's development, Okuyasu's family issues, Yukako's obssesion, Rohan's antics as a mangaka, Josuke's bond with Joseph), before tying them into the main plot in the second half (e.g. Reimi's murder, the involvement of the Stand arrow, focus on Kira's mind as a psychopathic serial killer) Part 5: Got to look into the past of each of Bucciarati's crew: Giorno and Bucciarati's childhood, Mista's pre-Stand user life, Abbachio's past as a cop, Diavolo and Trish's dynamic, Fugo's history with his anger issues. There's also the involvement of the Stand arrow, brief focus on La Squadra's perspective, etc. Part 6: Explores the characters of Ermes (seeking justice for the death of her sister), FF (their path of finding their identity), delving deep into DIO's psyche about "attaining heaven", Weather Report's history with Pucci and Perla, and the estranged bond between Jolyne and Jotaro.

This is Araki improving his craft but when we compare that to Part 3, we can see that P3 only got the "fighting enemies until we reach the boss" plot going on. And that's tedious to get past.

Sure we got one subplot going: Polnareff's quest of avenging the death of his sister.

His purpose of joining the Crusaders in the first place was to find the killer. It's been tackled for more than one episode and in the process, we see him form rapport with the allies he made while still sticking to his mission, allowing the audience to connect to the Frenchman more (even to the point where they start to joke that he's the main protagonist instead of Jotaro)

But what of the rest? What of the development of the other Crusaders?

Kakyoin and his past as a lonely child born with a Stand?

How Avdol met Joseph, and what his motivation was to continue working with the latter?

Maybe a subtle foreshadowing of Joseph's infidelity or how he's doing in New York prior to the quest?

Heck maybe even a background as to why Jotaro turned to delinquency when in the past, he's seen or viewed as a regular happy child who does well and is active in school?

Instead, what we got is Kak's past revealed as a last minute attempt to make us feel sympathy for him as he's dying, Avdol died without much going about him, Joseph is just there to be the secondary Jojo, and 3taro is most of the fandom's worst version of Jotaro because at a surface level, he's seen only as a rude standoffish teenager who does not emote for no reason.

We don't get to connect with the Crusaders as much or as deep because we don't know them outside of "we're here to defeat the big evil" and a bunch of fighting.

tldr: Not enough character development because there's too much of the "beat the bad guys and win"

I don't know. It's just my personal take because usually when I consume media, I tend to get hooked onto the story when there's mini stories that fleshes out the overarching theme.
