Ok, so now that I've watched the msp our skyy eps and slept on it, my thoughts are finally a bit more than indecipherable sobbing at every tinngun scene lol.

Spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen the our skyy 2 my school president episodes yet

Me after just looking at tinngun pics yesterday after the ep ended

But i will say one thing they've done well in these 2 eps is UNDERSTAND how to do a life swap au. It was one of my bigger fears about the our skyy msp episodes. Because life swap/role swap aus are often hard to get right. And I'm happy they understood the assignment 😃

Because i absolutely LOVE how they've swapped the lives of Tinn and Gun and how you can see it's changed so much about them, but yet at the core they're still the same tinn and gun we know and love!

I really appreciate how they've just kept the fact that Tinn is still so much more confident and ready to *go* for something despite the fear of rejection and Gun's still more hesitant, still the same boy who is still afraid of *why* he's so loved. (I have a feeling that his dad isn't alive even in this universe, though I'll be happy if that's wrong)

I've seen meta saying how Gun not having that creative outlet as in the original universe has kinda made him more subdued (he's still bratty). And it's so true.

Also there's something to be said around Gun's willingness to pine away from afar and just be happy in the moments he gets with Tinn that is so *him* but also a little nod to those in real life who are not as bold as the original Tinn. Gun's insecurities are something MANY of us have irl.

Gun always has been the one who's a bit more hesitant and it's always been Tinn who quietly but steadfastly just patiently waits for Gun, has always seen Gun and just aaahhhhhh it's so GOOD the way these two ALWAYS support each other 😭😭

Like how @bengiyo says it in their our skyy ep 2 recap, these eps show just how much of Tinn's trust and confidence in himself and his feelings were critical to the way the og msp unfolded and gave us so many of the moments we squeal about.

Also credit to @lurkingshan and @distant-screaming for their thoughts on this episode who are articulating what i feel much more concisely and without ending up writing a mini essay lmao

With that who talk of Gun and Por in the school bench scene (Never Let me Go school I see ya!) it's such a beautiful talk. The whole sequence is such a nudge to Gun and to those of us who are hesitant in real life to do a particular thing that there's not much use just thinking about what your alternate universe self will do and instead just try to go for it in your *own* universe.

I also loved all the references to aof's past works in the mv and the ost as usual are bangers. (Someone please buy me the ost album 😭)

If I had to say, maybe there's just three things I'd complain a little about these eps:

One, there should have been more i absolutely LOVED it

Two, i would've liked TinnGun to maybe have (1) new scene and a small cheek kiss at least (this is a bit more of a personal thing) maybe at that 1 year point ? I would've liked to see it at that point at least but that hand holding was also excellent 10/10 sobbed a lot

Three, I would've liked a glimpse into the lives of the original universe and how they are doing now (I miss them so much MY BABIES) and if that time skip scene had been for the original universe TinnGun somehow i would've loved it even more

No taeil at all for the highnotes? Even the adlib is by doyoung. Not to mention the bridge only have 2 ppl in it which are bizarre for nct. They always have 3-4 ppl for the bridge. The line distribution for ayyo is a bit confusing. Doyoung did great in his parts but i always don’t feel so good when he is in the spotlight too much in group songs which happens only recently with 2baddies and ayyo. He’s gonna get more hates for sure and it’s not helping that its kenzie. Tbc

I dont mind that he’s favored by kenzie but kenzie’s gotta be fair if it’s a group work no? I dread so much these days when there’s updates for Do work cuz he’ll def get hates no matter what. So i at least donwan him to attract too much in groupwork. Also i can’t wrap my head around the ‘line’ culture in korea. Kyu-line, kenzie-line, yoo young jin-line, that person line, this person line. Isn’t it just favoritism but they openly advertise to ppl in the industry. Tbc

If it’s just same yr line like 97 lines than it’s fine because there’s not much power involved there. It’s just casual friendship. But when it involved seniors, main producers which the head of the line has a lot of power for the followers career, ain’t it just blatant favoritism? One idol once said about charity and donations that whatever celebreties do, there will be netizens who will not like it. If an idol publicly talks about a donation, he is a pozer and did it only for the good image. If an idol does charity in secrecy, he is a bastard who doesn't care about the poor and those in need.

Doyoung will have antis regardless of number of lines in 127 songs or screentime in MVs. Antis will just talk about his jokes about his friends or him stealing OSTs from others. Please don't wish Doyoung to stay in the shadows in 127. He worked his ass off for the group and constantly upgrades his singing abilities, he earned all the spotlight. And his fans as well.

I really liked the new roles for 127 neos in Ay-Yo. It is the first time I realy liked Johnny's part as well. I hope he finally gained confidence and SM producers figured out how to include him organically. Mark was singing, Tae was rapping in a new way, Taeil had Do's parts, Jae was the central piece, which is rare actually, Yuta's tone of voice was used well, Woo got a big part, and Hyuk got a small part (after years of songs highlighting him up, it was time to change the recipe).

Neos are parts of a group, it's a unit, not an assortment of soloists, they should get roles according to their abilities and to the structure of the song. SM also incorporates lore, so some members have to sing certain sentences.

Taeil's fans are happy because he got a lot of screentime, by the way. And he sings a lot, so I don't know what Kenzie favoritism you are talking about.

Accept a different culture, anon. Koreans grow up with competition. The marks of students are hung up on the wall in school after each test. Everyone knows who is the best student, and who is the runner up. Koreans need a group to belong to, they don't even eat alone (and can ask a foreigner in uni to sit with them at canteen to not stand out). The first thing Koreans do upon landing in a foreign country is finding a community. Be it a Korean culture club or a Korean Christian society. Koreans who came to my city to study music and knew no English or Russian gave free language and calligraphy lessons in the Korean centre just to be in a group and make connections.

Hyung-dongsaeng culture continue to be strong. Hyungs help dongsaengs. And SM is all about family and artists mingling and interacting. Demonstrating being a good hyung is as benefitial as becoming a dongsaeng.

Connections and favouritism work absolutely everywhere. You must bring letters of recommendation from known and respected names wherever you apply. And people in charge send letters to others asking if they know anyone for the position they'd like to fill.

But here is a thing, one doesn't get favoured unless there is something for the person in power. And seeing how Doyoung is not a talentless kid from an influental family to pay for his career, I don't understand the concern.

97-line has a BTS member. And a BTS member has a lot of power. SM is made of many people who can influence things, even LSM doesn't have the last word. Your logic doesn't work like that here.

FEBRUARY 2020 DIMENSIONS ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULES & REVIEW

Overall Company

February is a big month for Dimensions and its employees. Starting from the beginning of the month, operations will begin moving over into the company’s new, bigger building in Samseong-dong. By the final day of the month, all day to day operations will be officially moved into the new building. The new building is much larger than their previous one and is newly built. That’s not the only change this month, though. After news of their acquisition of Z Entertainment and Dimensions Soloist 3, it’s clear Dimensions is reinvesting its recent profits. Artists under the label may have heard rumors of the news in the week or two before the news was officially released through company gossip or seeing the new soloist and producers around the building.

Her first schedule for the month is to film a Guerilla Date interview appearance where she’ll meet with fans near the Han River at night time and then talk with the host about how far she’s come since debut, but three days later, she’ll have the opportunity to meet with even more fans for a Valentine’s day fan meeting. She’ll perform all of her singles since “Gashina” as well as older favorites like “Bloom” and “24 Hours” and get a chance to interact with fans that haven’t seen her for a while. To welcome their new soloist, she’s also encouraged to make an appearance on Dimensions Soloist 3′s video diary if they happen to be in the building at the same time.

She didn’t have much time to adjust to her new company before getting thrown into solo debut preparations, and she already began recording her her debut solo album and attending concept meetings last month, which will continue through into this month. Dimensions has asked her to keep a video diary of her solo debut preparations for them to cut together and release leading up to her debut to increase hype, and she’s encouraged to include other Dimensions artists in some of the videos in order to naturally integrate her into the company “family”.

It’s comeback season! That means music shows and fan signs as usual, and the song does better than expected, peaking on the charts around the same position as “Be Ambitious” did (and without all the controversy!), but Gal.actic will also do a special eight hour live stream for their fans for Valentine’s Day from 2PM KST to 10PM KST. The full group will participate for an hour at the beginning and the end, but in between that, each member will get an hour on their own to entertain fans for an hour with talking, singing, cooking, or anything else that fits the format. The assigned time slots are as follows:

Tour is winding down and after next month they’ll get an extended break from touring before they hold an encore concert in Seoul, but for now, they have two concerts this month before returning to Seoul, where they’ll record a new English single “Who Do U Love?” and then film the music video for it later in the month. It’s a different sound from their recent releases in Korea, but Dimensions and Alien’s American label hope it’ll be a more radio-friendly sound in the west. They’ll do some performances for it in the spring as a part of American promotions so there’s choreography to learn as well.

Now that their concerts are finished, it’s time for the members to begin preparing for their first comeback of the year. The album will include the last two singles they released, making it a repackaged album, but they’ll need to record the new songs off of it throughout the month, including their next title track, which has a new sound from anything they’ve done before. It’s not necessarily another cute concept, but it is more upbeat and less conceptually intense than their most popular comebacks, so it’s something new for the group to tackle.

It’s clear even at the beginning of the month that “Me” failed to live up to the success the group had found in the past year or so. They have a Random 1Line Dance video to film while they’re at the SBS building for Inkigayo, but as the month goes on, management is eager to move past the era and while have plans for their next comeback entirely complete before 7ROPHY even finishes their promotions for “Me” and they’ll only get the last week of the month for “Me” to rest some before they begin work next month toward yet another comeback.

Unity

The modeling opportunities keep rolling in in the absence of a comeback and Unity has been chosen as new ambassadors of NBA’s apparel line in Korea, which they’ll shoot a photo shoot for with Dazed Magazine. BC Soloist 1 will join them for the photo shoot to showcase the cross-gender appeal of the line. Their fourth anniversary is approaching in April, which means more personal freedom for the members contractually, but also comes with the expectation to give back to fans. This will be achieved in the form of a special gift song and video release. They’ll record the song early in the month and film the accompanying video at the end of the month. The two main vocals and the leader have also been chosen to record an OST for the upcoming drama School 2017 this month.

              ↳ CHAMPION

With the album all recorded, that means it’s time to learn the choreography for “Jopping” and “I Can’t Stand The Rain”, the main performance tracks but the applicable members will need to learn choreography for “Super Car”, “2 Fast”, and “No Manners” as well. Dance rehearsals will be done at BC Entertainment’s building as the dance studios there are larger, and near the end of the month, BC will leak pictures and video of all of the CHAMPION members arriving at the building to spark discussion before the sub-unit is officially announced in a few months. For three days, all six members of CHAMPION will be sent on a bonding retreat in Jeonju to strengthen their bond as unit members. This is a genuine effort on the companies’ parts to create better group chemistry, so the will not be filmed during the retreat, although a manager from each group will accompany them on the trip.

Lucid

Their extended fan sign run ends on the second day of the month, but the Lucid members are nowhere near a break as they prepare for their second anniversary (which will involve a special fan meeting where they’ll reveal their fandom name and light stick and perform their special second anniversary song for the first time to tease the return of their dark concept, so the members will learn the choreography for it in the first two weeks of the month). They’ve been booked for every university orientation festival Dimensions could shove into their schedule, but they’re also busy with concept meetings and studio recording for their next comeback.

‘you make my day’ by seventeen. this one has it’s own post because i could not contain it all in a rewind. here it is

here we are by ashley. thank you joan kim for introducing me to this incredible vocalist. this is such a summer bop, and it has been on repeat since it’s release. (p.s. the music video is nothing less than bright summer aesthetics.)

pentagon. so remember how i was not going to allow myself to fall into the pit of another boy group. well, pentagon happened and i am so glad it did. literally, all of their songs are incredible. i esp love ‘like this’ from the demo_1 album. dang, it deserves so much more. their vocals and choreo always on point. i am so glad that i kept looking into them after listening to ‘shine’. this is a group full of cute dorks and i love them. cannot wait to see where this upcoming year will take them. 

dance the night away by twice. twice always delivers those insanely cute catchy tunes that i absolutely overplay the crap out of. i also love that i can actually attempt the choreo. they are just so great, and i love all of their title tracks. just look at how cute and soft the mv was. i love them!

crazy sexy cool by astro. so i just started the new drama ‘my id is gangnam beauty’, and the male lead is in this group. of course, i needed to do some digging to see who this cutie was, and stumbled upon this soft beat. i love this song and it has been on replay. i love the balance of their vocals with the track, and those ‘oooooos’ get me right in the feels. i am about it. i shall keep an eye out for more astro in the future.

[p.s. i am watching a lot of on-air dramas lately so next rewind will be full of reviews]

koinaka. i rate this drama a 4.5 out of 10. it was a little too extra, and a little too much back and forth for me. i also did not appreciate how they tried to trick me in the last episode. like what the even man?!?

about time. wow. just wow. i love this drama. i love all the members of the cast in this drama. lee sang-yoon is an incredible actor and i absolutely loved him in ‘twenty again’. and of course, the queen lee sung-kyung absolutely became this character and portrayed it well. there were so many plots and subplots. his hyung’s death and the family relationship was a fascinating way to expand upon how everything came to be. i love the ending line “we hope the moment you’re in right now is the moment you want to pause for a long time.” i rate it 10 out of 10. 

be with you. i truly don’t know who came up with this concept but it is not okay. why must i always watch films that make me sad? this was beautifully filmed, and i loved how we got to see both of parallels of the same story of how they fell in love. what a plot twist at the end as to how this meeting came to be. i loved the boy that played ji ho he did a fabulous job. i loved that my park seo joon came in to play the adult version of him, i would not have had it any other way. this one requires a box of tissues and water for rehydration. i rate this film a 9 out of 10. i continue to love so ji sub because he is incredible! i absolutely loved son ye jin in “something in the rain” and i have fallen more in love with her acting. she always plays such lovely characters and i need to see all of her dramas. 

what is wrong with secretary kim? i absolutely loved the easy-go-lucky heart of this production. i absolutely love all of park seo joon’s dramas and this one did not disappoint. i fell in love with all the characters, and subplots. i also appreciated the ‘because this is my first life’ inception that happened in episode 10, i was living my best life. don’t understand how the whole issue of them being kidnapped and the trauma afterward sort of dropped out of the drama, but you know dramaland works differently than the real world. what matters is that the vice chairman grew as a person immensely and mi-so grew to love herself and find her place in this world. the OST was also perfect and i am absolutely in love with the track from jeong sewoon ‘it’s you’. always gets me in a puddle of tears. (i love his voice and everything he does is perfect, but that’s a side note) i can totally see myself watching this hilarious drama again, it had everything that you could want in a drama. funny one-liners, cute moments, romance, childhood flashbacks, everything! i rate it a 10 out of 10. (also i have a love-hate relationship with watching dramas while they are airing like i want to binge watch but my life does not allow for that so it is better to have small doses, but ya know)

book crazy rich asians by kevin kwan. THIS BOOK WAS HILARIOUS AND PERFECT AND FUN. i haven't had a chance to read for pleasure in a while since university is great and takes all your pleasure reading in exchange for textbooks. but this was a great way to start my path to pleasure reading again. i picked this one up because the movie is coming out AUGUST 15th. everyone must go out and support this release, i am so excited to see an asian cast killing the game. okay back to the book, it was hilarious and i loved all the plots that we followed. his writing style was just what i needed and i can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy. i am not good at book reviews but i am sure there are some out there to summarize this great read. just go pick it up and read before the movie!

sf9 stands for “sensational feeling 9,” they’re an idol group under fnc entertainment that debuted on october 6, 2016. before debut they were in a program called neoz school as the neoz dance team, along with 4 other trainees that made up the neoz band team (now honeyst, check them out they’re great!) the two groups then entered the survival show dance or band (d.o.b) to get a chance at debut. the dance team won by a very close vote so they got to debut first. in korea, sf9 has released one single album, called feeling sensation, and two extended plays, called burning sensation and breaking sensation. in japan, they’ve recently released two singles, fanfare and easy love. they are currently holding fanmeetings around asia and will be at kcon la next month!

main dancer, vocalist (i know there’s some debate about whether or not taeyang is a main vocal or not bc he gets almost as many lines as inseong/rowoon bc he’s usually p stable live)

from mokdong, seoul

powerful, wild dancer with many many body rolls what are you doin yoo taeyang

lots of charisma but is a quiet and shy bun offstage

wants to be a florist if he isn’t a singer

very very passionate in everything he does and it shows

loves the fans. has been seen on various occasions staring down lovingly at them from the window of the broadcasting station and praising the lovely law-abiding (??) fans

says a lot of greasy/cheesy things with a cute smile and sweet voice

the other guy who also has piercings, has two lobe piercings in his left ear and one in his right

apparently does not know how to dress himself and has no idea that chicken bones are not considered recyclable waste

supposedly a hidden visual but i don’t really see what they mean bc those visuals are very obviously real

not too great at dancing compared to the other members but he has improved a lot!

has a pretty deep voice but is in charge of dolphin screams

has a love-hate relationship with chani. they’re close and soft and hold hands but they’re so competitive and always trying to outdo the other

he is inseong’s baby i swear there are so many pictures of him sitting on inseong’s lap

very smiley but is always covering his smile why are you doing that honey

maknae on top. is sweet with the fans, gives us cute smiles and noona aegyo and lots of winks but cuts down his hyungs…they still baby him anyway

is just generally a boob, does the opposite of what everyone tells him to do and laughs while he does it

the object of everyone’s affections especially youngbin

does not appreciate kisses but usually tolerates other forms of skinship

cannot eat spicy food but loveslovesloves chicken

has the deepest voice in the group, other than zuho, and does some pretty bomb imitations of zuho

currently attending sopa! he did a vlive in the cute yellow uniform

acted in a bunch of dramas, earlier this year he was in the movie goodbye single
