Also, Yang censoring herself makes a lot of sense when you consider that her father and uncle basically forced her to pick up the slack and be the responsible adult for Ruby's sake after Summer disappeared.
Taiyang was meeting their physical needs but not their emotional needs (and regularly left both of them unattended), and Qrow was basically always drunk until Volume 6 (meaning she and Ruby would usually wind up taking care of him instead of him taking care of them), which uh...
Yeah. Didn't exactly leave Yang in a good headspace.
Heck, the one time Yang relies on Taiyang to actually BE HER FATHER after she loses her arm in the Battle of Beacon, he basically scolds her for "moping" when she still hasn't fully reverted back to being the "responsible adult" after several months of adjusting to the loss of an entire limb. Even when he compliments her in the same Volume, a lot of the compliments come across as subtly backhanded on a second viewing.
He's no Endeavor, Ozai, or Gabriel, but...
He's not winning any "Father of the Year" awards either.

very interested in some of the talk around the new pjo episodes
‘censoring a story to align with a predetermined family friendly model is not only a disservice to the original work but to the audience it claims to protect. allowing children to engage with difficult content in fiction can help them to process difficult experiences in their own lives.’
and
‘reading about something and seeing it happen have a different impact, things that are appropriate for a book could be triggering when depicted on screen. it is important for production to consider their young target audience and the well-being of their child actors when adapting sensitive content for the show’
are not contradictory statements and we should discuss

Since Gabe isn’t going to take over that Roberto’s bakery, what do you think will happen to it when Roberto dies/retires?
There are countless possibilities, honestly.
Blanca also runs the bakery, so if Roberto God forbid dies first, she can take over it.
As Gabe gets older, he might start showing more interest in the bakery in order to uphold his family’s legacy.
Gabe might have children, and they can take over the bakery.
The bakery might just get closed after Blanca and Roberto’s death.
Which option am I sticking with? I want Roberto and Blanca to have a long happy life, and Gabe to have kids, so I believe the Núñez and Son bakery continues to live on for a long time. Maybe it wouldn’t be a public bakery anymore with Gabe’s parents’ death, but I like the idea that Gabe keeps the memory of his parents alive by telling his kids, or rather grandkids, about how important the bakery has been to their family, especially since I headcanon Roberto has inherited it from his father.
Gabe is not a baker. But he’s a traditional and family man, and as much as I don’t think the bakery will be active forever, I’m convinced that it won’t be forgotten for several generations further.

Victor and Carla should've stayed malvagos until at least the final battle with Ash, and that is the hill on which will I die. It just seems incredibly stupid and short-sighted on Team Avalor's part to just willfully weaken the capability of two powerful allies right before the big confrontation with their mutual enemy. Like I know Elena & Co still probably don't fully trust them (and not without reason), but it still strikes me as a risk that they should not have been willing to take. They need their allies as capable as possible, and now Mateo is going to have to take much needed time out of his already-busy schedule to teach them "regular" magic that still won't be quite as natural or powerful as what they had before.
Also, it would've been so much more narratively satisfying to have Victor and Carla go up against Ash while all three Delgados were still malvagos. (Even though the nature of the show is such that Elena would be the one "allowed" to actually defeat Ash. But Victor and Carla should've at least been granted the opportunity to have a moment where they could stand up to the wife/mother who abandoned and mistreated them on theoretically-equal footing).

Save my orphan children
Tumblr media
I am Inas, a mother of two young children: Muhammad, 7 years old, and Hala, 5 years old. They should have been living their childhood like all children—safe and warm in the embrace of their father. But the war has stolen that dream from us😭😭😭
Six months ago, my husband Anas, a kind-hearted man who endured a life of poverty, was killed by a random shell while on his way to work as a taxi driver. Since that tragic day, I’ve been left to carry the unbearable weight of life alone.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I held a diploma in international secretarial studies and was about to start a job to help support my family. But the war shattered not only our home but also my hopes and dreams. We’ve been displaced six times and now live in a tent that offers no shelter from the bitter cold or the ever-looming fear.
My young children face relentless hunger that weakens their fragile bodies and a cold that knows no mercy for their small hearts. Each day, their cries for warmth and food grow louder, and each day, I feel more helpless to provide them with even the basics of life💔😭😭
Tumblr media
I appeal to your humanity, to your compassion. We need your help to survive, to find a safe shelter, and to feed my children. Your generosity could be the reason Muhammad and Hala continue to live and find hope amidst this darkness🥹
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please, help me keep the light of these innocent children from being extinguished by this cruel world

"That's no way to speak to your elders young lady." Hesperia bounded across the rooftops of Paris, cape trailing behind him as he scampered away from Toxinette. Yes-- he could handle her or her clawed companion, but something always felt morally wrong about fighting children. So he'd dodge, move away, and flee best he could.
"I'm afraid my wings are staying intact, my unlucky adversary."
A smoke bomb was pulled out of his pocket and thrown on the ground. As the fog cleared, he seemed to have vanished in thin air.
In reality he had slipped down the side of the building and into the sewers.

Rereading The Lightning Thief as an adult was such an odd and gratifying experience. I just finished the book in one day yesterday, and here are the things I made note of to myself:
-Wayyy less of the book than I remember is the quest. So much time is spent building up Percy's character, and his life and backstory.
-Percy is such a little asshole, it's hilarious. He is SO RUDE to everyone, it's my favorite. I want to live with how much more of a dick he is than I remembered. I remember golden boy teen Percy who's good at everything and is effortlessly cool in the perceptions of others in the later books best. Like, we obviously know him better, but I kinda forgot about his snotty little asshole sixth grader origins.
-As someone that works in the school system, he's so accurate to me it hurts. It's so relatable, his one teacher believing in him, him getting frustrated when the material doesn't come to him like it does the other kids. I don't have ADHD and I could just feel all those feelings. It's great.
-Every time Percy thinks about the "betrayal of a friend" line in his prophecy, I swear Luke is mentioned in the next line, or pops up in the next scene. I just appreciate Rick not going out of his way to seem smarter than his audience. He wants his readers, middle schoolers, to have the tools to solve the mystery.
-I can't remember if I knew his dad was Poseidon before the reveal. As an adult, it seems like almost a slap in the face it's so obvious, but I am pissed I can't remember if I was excited and surprised by the reveal.
-Annabeth is also a bitchy child, she's literally so bitchy. We don't focus on it enough.
-I definitely remember when it hit me as a child that Gabe was abusive. It was way after I read this book. I kind of like how casually the domestic violence is sprinkled in. Not only is it a children's book where that is not the focus, but Percy acts like how most kids would, I think. It's pretty fine and normal that Gabe hits him, he only goes ballistic when he finds out he hits Sally. Obsessed with how Rick, by even only barely telling us Gabe is abusive, is still like "-And we should kill him for it."
-Annabeth's crush on Luke was so obvious, she should be embarrassed.
-Totally forgot we have Gabe to thank for Percy for sure being an FBI fugitive and definitely on the no fly list irl as well as from Zeus. He's such a massive asshole.

The thing about HOO is that it's either egregious, or amazing, or just......really plain and boring.
It retcons and ruins Nico and Percy's relationship. It ruins Percy's characterisation in PJO. Piper and Leo are 15 and haven't been attacked by monsters or brought to camp yet.
It depicts Piper and Hazel in a racist way (light hair and eyes to make them more attractive, both Hazel's parents have dark hair and eyes and no one else in the Aphrodite cabin has Piper's kaleidescope eyes)
It has a 14 year old date a 16 year old which is not entirely taboo but not entirely acceptable either, so it's controversial.
ALSO, it fools the readers into thinking that Frank is 16 and Hazel is 13 because Rick wrote Hazel saying that Frank is 3 years older than her and while Hazel is actually fourteen, RICK NEVER CONFIRMED IT. So Rick was in fact writing a 13-16 year old dating dynamic.
Reyna calls Percy dumb in front of a whole group and Annabeth laughs and agrees with her.
It has Nico's acceptance arc be smashed to pieces. It has Nico be forcibly outed.
It has Frank's fatness magically disappear after being given the blessing of Ares.
It has Percabeth be abusive (Annabeth making Percy promise not to use his poison powers again when it could save them, not accepting them even though they're a part of Percy, her laughing at his trauma when he says Tartarus smells like Gabe, her bringing up Rachel to make Percy nervous, her agreeing with Reyna in front of an entire damn crowd that Percy is dumb and couldn't find his way out of a paper bag without her apparently).
It doesn't release Calypso from her island when in TLO the gods swore on the Styx to do so.
And it puts a millenia old goddess in a relationship with a teenager, and Rick even depicts Calypso herself as a teenager while saying that she romanced adult men.
It has a wolf goddess who eats children who aren't good enough according to her standards, when those children could be amazing at something else instead of just physical training and survival.
And I do NOT know how HOO wasn't a YA series based on the last one alone.
But there are also those moments with characters where they really accept themselves, like Piper growing out of her internalised misogyny, or with Jason and Leo, or with Frank learning about and using his abilities to be a badass magical warrior, or having a nice moment with Reyna and Nico. Or how it shows Clarisse and Coach Hedge's relationship and Hedge's backstory and his understandable fear and concern for his wife.
And then it's just kind of boring at times. Jason is an underdeveloped character (with SO MUCH POTENTIAL MIGHT I ADD!!!) He should've been able to wipe the floor with Percy, Nico, Hazel and Thalia. And then his relationship with Reyna was barely expanded on. And Octavian, while initially set up to be an interesting character, was reduced to an absolute clown. Gaia could have been such an interesting, morally gray character, possibly the most complex in the Riordanverse, and Rick could've sent a message about environmental pollution and how we need to do something about it, which would definitely impact a lot of people, seeing as PJO is one of the most if not THE MOST popular book series globally. But she was just made into a cartoon villain instead. And Jason and Thalia's meet up was........dryer than the Sahara Desert, if I dare say so.
This series had so much potential-since the millenia long abusive systems are broken, why not have the camps discover each other after the Titan war? I will always mourn what HOO could have been.

♡ part twelve ♡
ExHusband!Price x f!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
John is holding newborn baby Shae, rocking her gently in his arms as he walks around the living room, trying to soothe her cries.
Despite his soft humming, she continues to fuss, her tiny wails echoing through the room. Shae's delicate features scrunch up with the intensity of her cries, her little fists clenched tightly.
“I just got the little monkeys to sleep,” you whisper, coming down the stairs. You notice the weariness etched on John's face, and your heart aches for him. “Want me to take her?”
“Yes, please,” John sighs, relief flooding his features as he hands Shae over to you.
The moment your chunky little baby is in your arms, she stops crying, taking a shuddery breath and nuzzling close to you. Her tiny fingers grasp at your shirt, her big, curious eyes looking up at you with a hint of recognition.
John sits on the sofa, looking defeated with his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands. You sit on the other end, giving him space.
You've heard of couples growing distant after having a baby, but you don't remember it being like this with your first two children.
John looks up, noticing you watching him. The distance between you since Shae's birth is palpable, and he can't stand it.
Leaning back against the couch, he finally breaks the silence. “It does get easier after a while, right? She’ll stop hatin’ me sooner or later?”
You shrug, glancing down at baby Shae, who finally likes more like you than John this time.
“Just felt like it was a bit easier with Gabe and Linnie.”
“You were either deployed or sneaking off to your second family most of the time; it’s probably just hard for you to remember,” you say bluntly.
John stiffens, your words hitting him hard. He looks at you, remorse evident in his eyes. “I’m sorry…” he whispers, his voice barely audible.
“Water under the bridge,” you reply, offering a soft smile to Shae, admiring her big eyes and rosy, round cheeks.
“She doesn’t cry because she hates you,” you explain gently. “She can just tell that you’re stressed.”
John processes your words, looking down at the baby in your arms. “Y’sure?”
You nod and move the baby closer to him. “Here, try to relax.”
“I’ve been trying,” John sighs, rubbing a hand over Shae's little swirl of a cowlick at the back of her head. “She jus’ screams her li’l lungs out.”
“You can’t just never hold your daughter again because she cries,” you insist. “Hold her.”
John takes a deep breath, nodding slowly. He moves carefully, taking Shae into his arms. She starts fussing again, her cries piercing the quiet room. John’s expression darkens, his frustration evident. “C’mon, Chunky Monkey… Don’t cry,” he pleads quietly.
You scoot closer, placing a soothing hand on his thigh. “Just relax. She’ll calm down.”
John's tense frame gradually loosens as you press a gentle kiss to his shoulder. He looks down at Shae, her cries becoming quieter. “See? She's calming down,” you say softly.
"You sure?" John asks, his voice tinged with hope. He watches as Shae's crying diminishes to soft whimpers. He takes a deep breath and finally cracks a small smile.
“If mommy and daddy are happy, baby's happy," you murmur, resting your head on his shoulder.
John's smile grows as he holds Shae, her chubby little hands clutching his chest. “Skin-to-skin helps a lot, too,” you suggest.
John snorts. “You think if I took my shirt off, she’d calm down even more?”
You nod earnestly. John hesitates but then removes his shirt, placing Shae directly on his chest. She finally stops crying, her tiny body relaxing against his. Her skin feels warm against his, and her little feet, no bigger than his thumb, curl up contentedly.
John’s expression softens. “Huh…”
“What’d ya know, your wife is a genius,” you grin, lovingly rubbing Shae’s back. You feel the steady rhythm of her heartbeat, and it reassures you both.
John chuckles, his earlier stress melting away as he holds his baby girl close. “She loves you,” you say gently. “She just loves you relaxed.”
Shae remains still and calm against John’s bare chest, her breathing soft and even. John looks at her with pure adoration, softly rocking her. “I can carry her up to her bassinet,” you offer.
“…I think I can,” John replies, standing up slowly with Shae in his arms. He walks carefully upstairs, rubbing her back gently. Her head rests against his shoulder, her tiny mouth opening in a big yawn.
You watch with a small smile as John heads to your office; the temporary nursery. After a moment, he stops at the top of the stairs and looks down at you. “Bed?”
John is already sitting at the end of the bed when you enter. You try to sit next to him, but he pulls you into his lap instead.
“Things haven’t been right with us, love.” he sighs, wrapping his arms around you.
“I don’t want us to do this… passive-aggressive, barely speaking to each other thing anymore.” You look into his eyes, seeking understanding. “We promised that we’d communicate, John.”
John nods, his voice breaking. “I know, love… You were right downstairs; I wasn’t around enough for Gabriel or Linnie, and I wasn’t around much for Theo, either.” Tears well up in his eyes. “I’ve just been sick at the thought of another one of my children growing up with me hardly around.”
Your heart breaks hearing him express his fears. You hold his head to your chest, pressing kisses to his hair and rubbing his back soothingly. You let him cry, offering him the comfort he needs. “You’re an amazing dad, babe… Theo is amazing, Gabriel and Linnie are such good kids… No doubt Shae will be even better, because she’ll get you full time,” you murmur. “You have nothing to be worried about when it comes to the kids.”
John lifts his head from your chest, looking at you with bloodshot eyes and tear-streaked cheeks.
“Just… promise we won’t do this passive-aggressive stuff anymore. I know new babies are stressful, but the kids need to see us happy. Okay?”
“I promise.” John whispers, holding you tightly. He kisses you briefly, resting his forehead against yours. For a moment, he just enjoys holding you, feeling a sense of peace and connection that he has long missed.
•••
You head outside at 3:30 and meet your oldest child at the bus stop, holding his hand on the little walk back to the house.
Gabriel seems to walk slower than usual, looking deep in thought. As you two get closer to the house, he lets go of your hand and turns to you.
"Mummy, can I ask you something?"
"Anything, monkey."
He looks up at you as you both walk inside of the house. "How did you and daddy get married?"
"Hmm. That's a good question." You glance at John, who has a head full of ponytails and is using chubby baby Shae as a dunbell, making Linnie giggle like crazy.
Gabriel looks at John and smiles a bit as he watches him being all silly with his sisters. He turns his head back to you, waiting for the answer.
"Mommy and daddy met each other at a... park." You fib a bit, not wanting to tell your six year old that you were at a bar. "And I looked right at your daddy and I told him that he was so handsome that I wanted to be his girlfriend."
This was pretty much the truth... You actually drunkenly told him that he was gorgeous, and that you wanted to have a hundred of his kids.
"Really? And then he was your boyfriend?"
Gabriel's innocent and curious blue eyes look up at you, and John watches from a distance as well.
You nod with a smile "And then he was my boyfriend!"
Gabriel nods a bit, smiling now. "How long until you two got married and had kissies?" He asks earnestly.
"One long year." You snort.
"Did he take you on lots of fancy dates?" Gabriel is sitting at the bottom of the stairs, looking up at you as if this is a serious matter.
"Lots of dates, but not always fancy ones. Sometimes daddy would take me on a picnic at the park, sometimes we would go to a movie..."
"What did you guys talk about on all those dates?" Your oldest continues the interrogation.
You laugh again, looking to John this time.
John grins from where he's been watching, he looks a bit amused by the fact that Gabriel's full of questions now. He watches you, waiting to hear your reply.
"We talked about nice things... Daddy would tell me how pretty l am, and I would tell daddy how handsome he is... We talked about how many babies we wanted and what kind of house we wanted to live in..."
"And you guys talked about love?" Gabriel asks again, giggling this time.
"Mhmm. Daddy told me he loved me really soon, right daddy?" You look back at John with a grin.
"It was about two months in, eh?" John chuckles a bit, thinking back to the first time he ever told you he loved you.
"More like two weeks." You chortle.
John's eyes open up a lot as he stares at you and then laughs hard. "Oh come on. It was at least two months."
"Your daddy loved me right away." You shrug.
John grins, remembering when he was just a bit love-drunk when he first confessed to you.
Gabriel giggles a bit at the reaction, then speaks once more. "And do you guys still love each other?"
"Of course we do." You ruffle Gabriel's hair.
"Well… How come Theo has a different mummy?”
You and John look at each other, both not knowing how to explain this to a young child.
Your middle child’s face scrunches up in thought. “How come Nadia Mummy and Theo live so far away?”
John carefully sets Shae in her bouncer before he turns back to you and the older kids, his short brown hair still standing up in about 8 or 9 hair ties all over his head.
“Well, erm…” He clears his throat. “See, before I even knew your mum, I was married to Theo’s mum.”
The middle child gasps. “Did you have kissies with her?!”
“Christ…” John rubs a hand over his stubble.
“You have to have kissies to be married, dummy.” Your oldest tries to roll his eyes at his younger sister, but actually just looks up at the ceiling with a frown.
“Gabriel Kyle, don’t call sissy a dummy.” You sigh.
“Yes, we kissed, but that was long, long before I knew mummy;” John continues, “When I lived in England, where Nadia and Theo live.”
“Daddy?” Your middle child clings to her dad’s back, her little arms wrapped around his neck. “Can we live in England?”
“No,” John shakes his head with a soft chuckle.
“Why?” Your oldest’s frown turns into a pout.
John looks to you now, wanting your help in explaining this to the kids.
But you don’t.
You just stare back, offering a small shrug of your shoulders.
“Why not?”
John’s eyebrows raise in surprise. “Wh- huh?”
You shrug again, a small smile tugging at your lips just at the thought. “You’d be closer to Theo that way, the kids would be closer to your parents, too. They’ve only met Gabriel, they haven’t met the girls.”
“You’re being serious, love?” John asks, seriously considering.
You nod, trying to take your husband seriously with his ridiculous hair. “I’d love to.”
“England! England! England!” The kids cheer. Even baby Shae’s round face lights up with a gummy smile.
“Guess we’re movin’,” John smirks.
