ok i honestly feel like a really big part of what makes us love nico as a girl dad is that he doesnt really take himself tooooo seriously you know? like, if his kid wants to put makeup and glitter on him, then he'd let them and he'd even suggest colors that he'd like to be on him! and if his kid wants to tie his hair up with bows and put stickers on his gym bag and stick? then he'd highly encourage them to do so and buy them a whole back of bows and stickers!

oh he’s such a silly goofy little guy and it’s definitely part of his appeal and charm

but that goofy silly side when it comes to his kids??? no joke is too silly. no act is too goofy. he is a proud member of the “well my kid wanted me to so…” club when he comes to the rink with neon pink finger nails or a bow clipped in his hair.

he would send his little girl pictures of him in all his gear with his matching red eye shadow and red hair bow before he takes to the ice for practice, not caring if the eye shadow leaks into his eyes while on the ice. as long as she knows he dad is proud to wear her creations, that’s all that matters.

he would tell her, too, that all of his teammates love her looks and designs she draws on him. she would get so excited she’d ask if she could take her stuff and set up a table in the hallway outside of the locker room, offering her uncles free make overs before or after practice. nico makes it happen (as if there’s anything he wouldn’t make happen for her) and soon the entire team is walking around with red and black make-up all over their faces. observing his teammates gearing up for practice, his heart swells with how much his team loves his little girl, and how happy she is that she got to give everyone a “pretty daddy make-over”. it doesn’t matter that the amount of glitter all over the locker room will likely still be there even after every man on the roster has retired.

related to being sensory-seeking, i think he would absolutely love running his hands over random textures. if anyone has run their hands along a wall while walking alongside it...He does that...If u know u know... he is SO stimmy its unbelievable. Unreal.

very pain-tolerant. he'll whine and complain about it for attention, but physical hurt really doesnt bother him much until it gets in the way of what he wants to do.

funnily enough, he is very picky when it comes to temperature. he can handle getting ran over but if its 1° too hot or cold he'll start nagging and nagging for it to go back to normal. turbo really needs his own enclosure i think it'd do him a lot of good

this is a more popular headcanon and its canon-leaning, but he's an artist :-] he usually sticks to graffiti art because its generally considered more "rebellious and cool" but he also sketches cars, design decals, and other stuff when hes alone!

while King Candy has a lisp, i think it's a coverup for his actual voice because of how goofy and recognizable it is. Overall its the same as his regular voice, he just gets silly with it. i noticed that he still does retain some of his lisp when hes screaming his lungs out at Vanellope, however, so maybe he genuinely does have a lisp that makes itself known when furious :3

i dont think turbo is necessarily suicidal, but the way he behaves shows a clear disregard for his own safety and wellbeing. he thinks that he knows what he needs but he really doesnt :-[ i think he has some kind of immortality complex, feeling untouchable and like nothing could get to him. as scared as he was when ralph was about to turn him into sloppy mush, he didnt take the threat very seriously. like it was some kind of joke

his kart regenerates every time his game starts up, so what if he smashed it into buildings for fun. He's the number one fan of car accidents. he is all about that shit

i think his living space would literally be a garage btw. its a place to sleep and a space for his car all in one!! he thinks its very convenient and awesome but i think he is coping. he has some old dingy stained sheetless mattress that he has never washed in his life and its covered in dirt and smoke particles. no wonder he has such heavy eye bags Dude Please

the turbo twins have a garage used in a similar way, and while its still pretty shitty, they still at least TRY to maintain it. they just fight a lot over who has to care of it. nobody taught them how to take turns ever

i think that turbo would find comfort in garbage and keeping it around because its familiar to him. a big clean empty space would make him so mad and if anyone moves even an inch of scrap off to the side he will throw a fit. he generally doesnt pay attention to his surroundings but when its his personal space he is 1093 times more neurotic

i think the big empty castle he stole wouldve been a big transition for him. maybe it helped him clear his mind a little more to practice his tricky schemes...it helped him get more subtle

There's been a great conversation recently about what losing 22 episode seasons has done to TV. We used to get all kinds of fun, goofy concepts--musical episodes, holiday specials, etc-- that just don't fit into 8 episodes. (Not sure who first brought this up, but thank you--if anyone knows, please tell me so I can credit them!)

My favorite of these kinds of episodes is the trope where two characters are each trying to tell their side of the story, but disagree about how things went: think "Tall Tales" in Supernatural or "Bad Blood" in the X-Files. I thought Dead Boy Detectives deserved its own version, so I attempted to write one. It's also got some commentary on the bizarre new Netflix adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray, because I couldn't resist.

i KNOW it's been talked about to death but. the haikaveh research project. it literally haunts my mind. i cannot get over the implications. alhaitham going through his school life as someone that most people dont even really know about because he keeps to himself and doesn't socialize, with kaveh being the one exception to that, finding his way into his life as his Best Friend, and then leading to alhaithams one and only time he participated in a research topic. his bio says he only ever did ONE joint project!!! one!!! the one with kaveh his best friend and i think also his only friend at the time!!!! and then it ended in not only the project falling apart but also alhaithams only friendship. kavehs best friendship. they were each others closest person. they had no family around - alhaithams parents having died when he was young and his grandmother dying before he joined the akademiya, and kaveh's dad dying when he was young and his mom having moved to fontaine. like even if you dont look at it through a romantic lens it's still undeniable how important they were [and are] to each other..........

i'm getting off track but my point is very specifically for alhaitham, the one time he got close to someone, made a friend, even agreed to join one(1) group project ever, it ended in disaster. it led him into a fight so bad that his one and only friend said he regretted that friendship!!!! it was so bad alhaitham left the project and he and kaveh didnt speak for ages until they just happened to run into each other again at the tavern!!!!! like obviously it has to be incredibly awful for both of them but i just think how this probably had alhaitham in the cynical mindset that friendships and collaborations like that might just never work out for him because the one time he let someone into his life, it blew up on him and he was all alone again. even though alhaitham never seems to care much if people dont like him, that clearly cant still apply to someone he was exceptionally close to. like if he didnt care he woudlnt have been the one to take his name off the project and mutually not speak to kaveh...... kavehs words are the ones that hit the most significantly to alhaitham.......... kaveh is said/implied to have had at least some other friends while at school / people knew who he was, but not so much alhaitham. people didnt know him and the ones that did just knew he didnt socialize/he was not easy to get along with. he only had kaveh and then, for a while, he lost him too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oughhh, Takaaki was never seen as good enough by his dad and he tried SO FUCKING HARD to prove he was the best. Better than everyone else. His genius of a father would see that his son was just as smart. Not a genius, but worked for his smarts. Yet he wasn't good enough. His father never turned his way or ever uttered "Good job" when he'd show his grades. How...amazing he was. Yet he still tried. He wanted love. He wanted attention from his terrible father who only looked his way to either beat him or yell at him.

He wanted father to see how good he was. That he was perfect. He was perfect. Why wouldn't he look at him?! Why?! Why wouldn't the smart, amazing Toranosuke Ishimaru FUCKING LOOK AT HIM FOR ONCE?! WHY WON'T HE SAY THAT HE LOVES HIM???

Even with the achievements Takaaki got at school. All the hard work. The good enough deeds he did...

He still wasn't perfect.

But Taka was. Taka...Taka was more perfect than he ever was. His father gave Taka more love than Takaaki himself ever got. He didn't even remember the last time his father looked at him with such a bright smile...

Why wasn't he ever perfect?

This is one of the few things Takaaki thinks about. One of the many things that he resented about his father. He was jealous of his own son! But he could never hate Taka. He hated Toranosuke. He resented him. After all the pain and sorrow he endured, all the hardwork he did. He still was never good enough.

Because Takaaki wasn't perfect.
