Sometimes I remember I bought Dying Light 2 shortly after release, and I had a really good time with it, for the most part. I was like wow, this is actually really fun. Sure it's a bit too shallow for my tastes, but it's fun and has a really pretty post apoc vibe that was taking some obvious inspiration from generic medieval aesthetics which I thought was neat.

And then I finished the tutorial area after about 5 hours, and lost all interest after seeing the actual game map.

you couldn't count with your fingers how many times he had been there for you, gotten in trouble with his dad because he always ran off with you rather than doing his chores. and you loved him for that.

when you two were kids, you guys were the ultimate duo. you were outside, running around on the playground until you got into a heated argument with some other kid. it ended with you pushing them down the slide, causing the tears to flow and one of the teachers making you sit inside.

you huffed and complained as the teacher told you that the rest of your recess time would be spent in the isolated library. you rolled your eyes when she turned her back, putting up your pinky-finger at her while sticking out your tongue.

you, being a bright extrovert that never knew when to shut her mouth, couldn't help but notice the only other person in the empty library without speaking to him. he was peering at you from above his book, curious and a little surprised.

your eyes widened, and you quickly slid down into the seat next to him. "don't tell her I did that. I'm already in big trouble," you whispered into his ear. he moved away, a weird look on his face.

"you do know that the whole 'chinese middle finger' hoax, isn't real, right?"

your face was blank. "huh?"

"putting up your pinky finger isn't an alternative for the middle finger."

"does that mean you're gonna snitch?" you questioned, squinting at him. he sighed, shaking his head.

"thanks. I hate that teacher. she's always on my cheeks."

"your.. cheeks?"

"it's an alt— alter—“

"alternative?"

"yeah, that, for," you leaned in closer, glancing around to make sure nobody else was there, and even though there wasn’t, you lowered your voice, “ass."

pope stared at you. he had never heard anyone— especially a girl— say that, except his dad, and that was a one-time thing. you giggled, a mischievous smile on your lit-up face.

"anywayyyyy," you said in a sing-song voice, "whatcha' doin' in here?"

"reading and studying."

"why?"

he knitted his eyebrows together, tilting his head to the side a bit. "because i have a pop-quiz."

"i thought pop quiz means you don't know about it."

"yeah, it does."

"then how come you know?"

"because I'm smart. duh," he said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. you scoffed, "I'm smart, too. and I didn't know about it."

pope gave you a nasty look before going back to his book. you sighed, spinning his pen between your fingers and observing the library you were in. it had that dewey smell of old books, and the ceiling was high. you could see the playground from the tall windows, and you longed to be out there, joining games of telephone and freeze-tag. however you had no ounce of self-control, at least not enough to take some random kid’s bullshit.

you figured this boy went to library everyday during recess, considering you had never seen him on the black-top, in the fields playing dodge-ball, or on the playground. and that's what every normal kid did.

"hey," you mumbled, poking his arm with the pen. he hummed softly, paying no attention to you. you spoke up, anyway. "are you an alien?"

his eyes slowly trailed up your face before they landed on your own. he didn't respond, instead just staring at you as if you were the weirdest, most stupid person he had ever came in contact with.

"what's your name, alien?"

"pope. and I'm not an alien."

"that 'kinda sounds like an alien name, pope."

"it's really not."

after a short moment of silence, you smiled.

"hey, you're actually pretty cool. I'm not 'tryna be mean. just curious. I've never seen you outside with everyone else, but if you ever do, you can always play with me."

he didn't answer, instead deciding to turn away from you, but nobody could miss the faint smile that played on his lips.

pope chose to ignore you for the next twenty-five minutes of recess, tuning out your constant rambling about literally anything that popped up on your mind. even though he barely paid attention to what you were saying, he quickly learned that you truly had no filter. but he liked it. so for the next week, you had purposely gotten in trouble to talk to him in the library, your smile becoming the highlight of his day. (even though he'd never admit that.)

you started waving at him in the hallways, inviting him to sit next to you at lunch with your friends. you even began to read a book he was, just so you guys could be ‘twinsies.'

and soon enough, he was welcomed into the friend group that consisted of jj maybank, kiara carrera, and john b routeledge.

and now, you were sitting on the hammock outside of the château, pope right next to you. your head was buried in the crook of his neck, and he softly played with your hair.

the sunset was gorgeous. you and pope spent the day boating and swimming, watching tv and eating snacks on the couch of your home before going back to the château. all the pogues were there; john b and jj and kie and sarah. they were drinking out of beer-bottles and laughing while they got high on some weed jj stole. while you’d usually join them, you wanted to just relax in the arms of your best friend.

it felt perfect, the gentle touch of pope’s fingertips brushing against your hair, while you breathed in his scent of sea-salt and faded cologne.

“hey, y/n?” pope said, his voice soft. you opened your eyes, humming in reply, to show you were listening.

“remember when i told you about me and kie?”

you nodded. he was talking about how he kissed kie.

it hurt, when you he told you.

you remember how all the hope you had of possibly becoming more than just best friends with pope had all but vanished. his words felt like being punched in the gut. the rejection stung, you became bitter. you began to wonder if anyone would ever see you more than just a friend.

it hit you then, when he told you in the dead of night that he kissed kie, that you didn’t just like pope. you didn’t just have a small crush on him. you were in love with pope. you’d defend him when he wasn’t around, you would laugh with him and go through crazy shit with him. the features of his face were carved into your mind, impossible to forget. when you made him smile or laugh, you felt proud. you were making him happy, not kie. not any other girl.

so why couldn’t he choose you?

because he was your best friend. and he saw you as just that.

it might’ve been a greedy thought, but you just wanted more.

“i don’t like her that way.”

you blinked, shifting underneath his arm to look up at him. you tried to meet his eyes, but he was clearly avoiding eye-contact. you figured he was lying.

“oh,” you replied, and you hoped the uncertainty in your voice didn’t show.

it was quiet for a moment, and you tried not to let it bother you.

“i don’t think i ever liked her that way.”

his words hung in the air, and you couldn’t help but not believe him. you sighed softly, biting down on your bottom lip, trying not to remind him of how he’d get that look on his face when he saw kie; like he was in an unbreakable trance.

“you know, that, right, y/n?” he asked, his voice barely audible. there was a slight tremble in his voice, and you feared it was your fault,

“yes, pope.”

“i don’t believe you.”

“okay, well, i’m not buying it. are you seriously telling me that the whole ‘i’m in love with kie’ thing wasn’t real? that you never liked her?”

“yes? i was just.. i always thought no girl would want to be with me. so kie was different. i never—“

“okay, pope. i believe you, alright?” you scoffed, sitting up in the hammock.

pope stared at you. “you’re my best friend—“

“yeah, no shit—“

“can you just listen, y/n?” you shut up, trying your hardest not to get up and join the rest of the pogues. that beer and weed were looking real good right about then.

“pope..” you whispered, but he quickly shook his head.

you nodded a little, your heartbeat going one hundred miles per hour. he loved you.

“i thought that maybe if i got with kie, then you’d realize i could be more than just your best friend, that i could do anything a good boyfriend would. but then she dropped me. and i was scared that you would think it was because i wasn’t good enough. but i want you to know that kie is my best friend. you.. you’re like, the love of my life. it’s corny but—“

“just shut up,” you said suddenly.

you pulled him in, slinging your arm around his neck as you came in contact with his lips. they were softer than you expected, and your lips moved together in sync passionately.

you couldn’t believe this was finally happening. after years and years of dreaming of this one moment, it finally came to you.

when you pulled away, pope tried to chase your lips, but you placed a hand on his lips with a laugh. “geez, eager much?”

pope rolled his eyes before wrapping his arms around you, embracing you as tight as he could.

“i love you, y/n. i love you so much,” he whispered into you ear, his head laying on yours. the corners of your plump lips from kissing pope curved up in a sweet smile.

“i love you, too, pope.”

and when you finally pulled away from the hug, you couldn’t help but admire the eyes of the boy who had been yours from the start.

🎻Okay, so I’m sure we all know he’s the heir and a prince of the vampire kingdom (I know its weird.) And I just have to say this because I don’t say it enough, I really feel like he acts differently in the demon world because he knows his dad will be mad.

🎻So you can expect Shu to be much more expressive as he is the heir, he represents his father and so he needs to be “lively”.

🎻 That being said, he attends gatherings, banquets, and many other events that his father may want him to.

🎻I will say that when he is in the demon world it is much different as he doesn’t act like himself.

🎻Apart from him is still the same in the sense that he is still a pervert.

🎻I mean we know he’ll be with low-ranking vampires or whatever just to get some.

🎻 After all, he has somewhat of an ego even if he doesn’t show it.

🎻So you know he most definitely does believe that because he is the heir he can move from one girl to the next with no strings attached.

🎻All for his advantage of course.

🎻Also speaking of his royalty life I really want to mention the fact that he is very annoyed by all the attention the girls give him.

🎻He literally can’t wait till he goes back to the human world where it's much quieter.

🎻However as a royal he does enjoy the theatre because he can hear classical music.

🎻In fact, he loves it most when he can watch the ballet performances.

🎻If there’s one thing he loves most it’s watching girls do ballet.

🎻That’s why he only has three, this is actually canon, I believe it was in one of the game translations in Reiji’s route where he was looking for his jacket and asked Reiji. And Reiji told him it can’t be that hard to find since he has only three, lol.

🎻And idk why but I just feel like he miss places them all around the house.

🎻I also think he keeps so much junk under his bed.

🎻He once owned a cat, it's not that he went out of his way and bought one. It sorta followed him and so he started to take care of it a little. It lived outside mostly because Reiji wouldn’t tolerate it, but occasionally Shu kept the cat in his room.

🎻Although he sometimes wonders where it went, and I think he liked the cat since she sometimes got into Reiji’s things. It was amusing to say the least.

🎻Never makes his bed, he just throws the blanket on and thanks to the butler the room is kept clean.

🎻He keeps a couple of his favorite books which are in Latin.

🎻Something also tells me if he had a journal, he’d write only Latin because none of his brothers can.

🎻Speaking of which his closet is so empty and he literally has repeats of the same pants and shirts.

so this will be partially about the live action: something that I didn't initially pay attention to but the more I thought about it the more it started to bother me is their choice to make zoro and sanji's rivalry revolve around luffy. basically the implication is that zoro's insecure about sanji joining because he'll be replaced (luffy's "I need you zoro" -> zoro later telling sanji "you don't know what luffy needs"). and that's never been the vibe I got from them in the manga. to me their rivalry is mostly a big dick contest (it literally started with the dinosaur hunting competition, not in arlong park) and they have enough respect for each other's abilities and luffy's choices in choosing them that they never (iirc) actually questioned each other's right to be in the crew. but do you think there's any merit to that interpretation that they're jealous of their individual bonds with luffy and/or their "usefulness" to him? is that an aspect that's in any way present in their relationship in the manga?

*grimaces* if they really did that, that's kinda ass considering - if anything - SANJI'S the one who's insecure about his place amongst the crew. That's the whole reason he could connect to Usopp in Water 7, and is also why he found himself to be expendable during WCI.

Their fighting comes from a childish place of just having fun with each other, BUT during the Foxy games it came from Zoro wanting to be the protector he's decided he is, and Sanji seemingly wanting to prove himself as useful alongside Zoro. Sanji full well knows how powerful Zoro is, he knows how strong of a man Zoro is before he was even with the Strawhats (after all, Sanji was shocked at hearing Zoro's name during the Baratie), and as Sanji yells "I can't let the swordsman save my ass!" during the Foxy games, it indicates there's certainly some aspect of Sanji trying to prove himself next to Zoro there.

That's why it meant so much when Zoro asked for Sanji's help, and that's why their bickering seemed to turn into something more wholesome and fun after the Foxy Games. They gained a new respect for each other after that event.

But before that? It literally had nothing to do with Luffy dfghkdf Zoro has NEVER been insecure about his place amongst the crew, let alone who he is besides LUFFY. During Arlong Park, Zoro was both shocked and happy someone like Sanji was able to save Luffy from the water and beat a fishman, because he realised Sanji was someone he could depend on - even if he never says it openly. That "You don't know what Luffy needs" line is fucking bizarre?? Especially considering Zoro was all on board for Luffy to recruit Sanji as their cook in the original. It feels like this interpretation of them stems from the showrunner interpreting that Kuma Thriller Bark scene in the worst of ways as a RIVALRY between Zoro and Sanji - when that WHOLE SCENE was them protecting Luffy and EACH OTHER due to the sacrificial nature of both of them. Now I don't really know if this IS the case since I don't know the guy, but the amount of guys I've seen who think the Kuma scene is a test of strength and a big dick contest between Zoro and Sanji is SO weird.

If Zoro really said that line in the live action, like ??? Why in the world is it written like some weird Luffy harem fanfiction??? The original does that just fine without making Zoro look like a jealous girlfriend LMAO

so I decided since I am a fnaf veteran and also planning a fnaf rewrite I give my opinions on the games and such and explain why I like or hate the game.

fnaf 1 2 and 3: the reason why I love these three is because it feels like a perfect trilogy the mystery the intense setting just a chef kiss and yes I agree fnaf 3 isn’t the brightest but I don’t care cause it’s actually my top favorite fnaf game I love the character spring trap a lot he has always been my favorite and the story’s ending fits of how the ghost of the dead children decided to punish their murder by making him go threw what they go threw.

fnaf 4: now I don’t hate this game far from it actually it’s probably the scariest fnaf game I seen and plus the designs of the nightmares are cool! It just I wish it was executed abit better as it does have flaws to the story (like example what did fucking michael expect when he put his brother in the mouth of a animatronic what did he think was gonna happen)

FNAF WORLD: now it maybe not a horror game…but I do enjoy the chibi animatronics and they look adorable I would never play it but I’ll look at the gameplay or art time to time.

Sister location: this game was kinda meh to me and feels wasted potential and it being a prequel just kinda ruins the lore especially since the first game takes place in 1970s…and advance animatronics like that doesn’t make sense and plus I feel like it would have fit a lot better if it was like taken place after the three games and maybe if you wanna make it a prequel make the animatronics less advance and give it the aesthetic of that time period (and don’t make the ballerina animatronic sexualized when she is a animatronic for children (cause you can’t tell me she isn’t sue me-)

pizza simulator: I fucking hate this game cause to me it ruined five nights at Freddy the only good thing was the cool speech Henry gave I already stop being into five nights at Freddy from this cause it ruined it for me the mystery was gone it just felt like they were just milking the franchise now and I don’t get how people like it.

THE FNAF VR AR AND ULTIMATE CUSTOM NIGHT: this is similar to pizza simulator and it sucks cause like this could have been fixed if they were just not canon like fnaf world and just got entertainment.

SECURITY BREACH: this one made me the most disappointed cause I remember when I saw the trailer I was actually very excited and positive about the game and made my theories on the game of what’s gonna happen…but it just turned out as a shitty glitchy game and I will announce as the WORST five nights at Freddy’s games ever made.

it frustrated me how bad it was to like showing the trailers aren’t true to the game amazing voice actors replaced with bad ones (aka vanny) and the only think I like about this game is the animatronics (not their designs their ok but it feels weird to even like them cause they are made by a problematic artist but the idea names etc)

Gregory also feels like a annoying main character like I just want him to just shut up like to me he doesn’t sound like a kid he just sounds like a bad voice actor trying to imitate a child but with a sore throat.

and don’t get me started on Vanessa which could have been a separate character to vanny cause like I hated she turned out to be vanny (and I always found it strange she was the only human security guard I mean…for a big ass fucking place as security breach which is probably the biggest map of any fnaf game your telling me there isn’t more human security guards? Like I’m aware of the security bots but they barely do shit in the game)

it upsetted me when I first saw the game I was so excited for it like how I would have fix it maybe make it like similar to the incident the death of the 5 children make it start as a tutorial where your parents take you to Freddy fazbears with your friends you get a tutorial of how to run climb and such.

and like you meet vanny she tried to kill you and maybe try to make the animatronics interesting since they are taking ai animatronics who actually have feelings and emotions route make them like Trying to fight back their aggressive programming do something to make it interesting! you had the ball In your hands yet you just decided to throw it into a fucking cliff this includes ruin and into the pit which is bad too.

And it sucks cause like I don’t know what is gonna happen now like it feels like five nights at Freddy is the broken shell it once was…

now does this mean you should also hate it no you don’t have to hate any these games if you like them feel free to for me it just feels like fnaf was ruined to me with its books and bad sequels cause like sometimes it feels like Scott didn’t seem to know what he wanted for the game and it feels like he was making it up as he went a lot going with the most craziest and dumbest ideas.

but you can still love fnaf I still like it too but like I am not as much into it anymore (due to the fans being crazy with its ships etc ) although even if I do plan a fnaf rewrite it’s not to spite Scott or any fnaf fans i just wanna do it to reconnect to fnaf when it was at its prime and feel abit of nostalgia.

and despite my hate for how fnaf went but I am glad they still exist cause we got amazing fan made songs and people got into the franchise and not to mention they can be inspiring and also help popularize mascot horror which is one of my favorite type of horror!

now I wish I could explain how I hate it more (but I suck at fucking explaining) although I do highly suggest video which honestly explains the fall way better then I could ever can

my thoughts on persona 5 playing it for the first time (and right after giving up p4 because it made me mad lol) ((also spoilers up to the start of madarame's palace, i'm not far yet but want to write my thoughts down)):

pros- i really love combat and the baton pass mechanic. the protagonist has a great design and personality, the main cast actually has great chemistry, and the story is very captivating. the idea that we actually fight our personas now as shadows is very interesting. the locations are beautiful and i really like morgana (wayyyyyy more than teddie). also i love that finally i can see available social links, it makes the game feel much more fair, bc before i struggled keeping track of where everybody was at all times and even missed out on fulfilling some links just because it wasn't clear they were already available to me. the dungeons are really fun, i love prowling around like a thief and doing cool moves, its incredibly satisfying. honestly everything about this game is a drastic improvement upon persona 4 and the sour taste it left in my mouth after, before that, persona 3 blew my expectations clear out of the water. oh, and i like that the game isn't sexualizing its highschool girl cast as much as the previous games (at least so far). like ann has a sensual persona and outfit, but its empowering for her, not embarassing her like the bikini beauty pageant in persona 4 (shudders)

cons- the game feels really railroady, especially in the beginning. i want to explore and see all these locations and i'll constantly have morgana telling me i can't do something or that i can't even walk down a specific area because its the wrong way, when i just want to see this giant ass map. the characters are always telling me what to do, which for a game about disobedience and going against the grain, is pretty funny lol. it was rly hard to navigate the train station the first time, and i still struggle with how big the maps are. maybe because i played persona 3 portable before p4, i'm used to cozy maps, but at the same time i do enjoy the vast world, it might just take some getting used to but i was getting frustrated that first time trying to get to school. i feel like the character designs are more bland in this game compared to persona 3, and that the characters all have a bit of same-face syndrome. also, there's this weird yellow tint to all the portraits that looks really nauseating at times. i haven't made too much progress yet with madarame's palace and story, but as someone who has done nude modelling for figure drawing, i feel like its being framed in a really weird way like Ann will lose something virginal if she does it which is a bit of a stereotype for nude models, especially women in the field. but that's just a very niche thing i think very few ppl would even notice or be thinking about, lol. while i do really like the personas being enemies in palaces, i do really miss the old shadow designs because they were just so cool, even if they were becoming repetitive. also, i reallyyyyy miss the tarot cards flipping mechanic. it was my favorite part of dungeons in persona 4 actually but i guess i understand why its no longer there? and, maybe biggest of all, i can't get past igor's new voice. its really not what the character sounds like and i realize the voice actor passed away, but i just can't get used to it, it doesn't match his face and personality at all. he's supposed to be this impish character and he feels so solemn in a way that i don't like as much as previous igors.

that's about it sorry for the long post, i just wanted to share my thoughts because i love this game but there's also some things i can't get used to quite yet lol...

Lyon has never, not once, catered to a player's relationship when it comes to a contract. Never happened before, didn't happen here, not going to happen in the future.

Anyone who even pretends that van de Donk's relationship with Carpenter influenced the contract extension is absolutely delusion. Aulas doesn't even acknowledge that Hegerberg's husband exists. Are we supposed to pretend that one of Carpenter or van de Donk have moved above her in the Lyon hierarchy?

Honestly, to believe that Lyon of all clubs would bow to a player's relationship is just so completely absurd. This is a professional club run like a business. Like, come on. In what world would Lyon stray from its business model - one which has gotten them eight (8) UWCL titles? Lyon is the most successful team in women's football because everyone is expected to play by the rules. There are no exceptions. Why would Lyon suddenly change that philosophy now?

So that's the first thing.

The second thing, I guess, is why would Lyon extend her in the first place. Can't believe I have to walk some of y'all through this all over again, but here we are.

Lyon is incredibly protective of its No. 10 position. They don't fuck around with it, they just don't. And they have a very specific type of player that they look for in the No. 10 position. It has to be someone with big game experience, someone who knows what they're doing, and someone they can rely on to just do their job. If you look at that criteria, it narrows down the list of players considerably.

I've said, over and over again, that when Lyon first looked at van de Donk, they were looking at her performances with NED, not with Arsenal. NED just told them a lot more about what type of player she is.

"Bro," you say, "but van de Donk hasn't been stellar this season."

You know what? I'll give you that. She could have played better. But Lyon is also smart enough to know that when your team is as crippled as they were at the beginning of the season, the first six months isn't going to tell you a whole lot about someone, except when it's obvious it's not going to work (cf Jaurena).

Lyon was dead. van de Donk was gassed (I maintain she still is, which is why her reduced playing time at the club isn't exactly keeping me up at night). She'll get things back on track eventually, especially when Lyon doesn't feel she is going to be run into the ground anymore.

Finally, and again it's weird that I have to say, although I joke about Lyon being a broke ass team, let's not pretend that is actually the case. Lyon salaries are high. Everyone knows that. You get a bump for an extension. (In what business would you get a promotion that comes with a salary cut? Explain that to me, seriously).

So with that in mind, maybe we can sit there and understand why van de Donk got a nice salary bump with her extension (29k/month), understand why Lyon was like "hey you know what, might wanna keep a player who knows what it's like to play big games", and also, remember Lyon's fundamental rule for players contracts: #FuckLove

okay I finally beat Monster Sanctuary so here's the long and short of it

there be spoilers ahead (in case you care about that sort of thing)

Man FUCK those last two alchemist battles like what the fuck. That guy stacking debuffs like it's his goddamn job was awful and I just didn't have the team setup for it I had to finally cave and replace my Kanko with a Chill slime (the chill slime is op though so like he fit in well)

But hey those last two battles being so goddamn hard actually meant the final two battles against the big bads were super easy. An all dragon team always sounds good in concept but oof bud you are not immune to physical attacks. Buddy what happened your first team walled me off from beating the game until I lowered the difficulty why'd you downgrade. And weird flex to make the big bad Champion monster weak to both physical and special like that honestly made him wayyy too easy.

It was a good game, though! Story is still a bit weak, but exploration and mechanically this game is dope. It comes with a New Game + which means all my efforts to gather every single monster were not in vain!! I can take them into a new game and start off with them through the whole journey!! And it also has a bunch of toggleable setting, my biggest one being a randomise mode! All the monster designs are a lot of fun I really am glad for this feature.

The few post game areas I think are a bit short (and the World Tree area is filled with so many monsters I just do not want to battle, they get real annoying even if I have the combat more figured out than before) (actually Blobville was also stuffed with monsters who were annoying to fight) but exploration is a lot of fun, so I was happy to get my teeth into more places to explore. Figuring out how to 5 star each champion battle for their egg and with my team was also a fun challenge!

And then... the statue room. Hoo boy, this thing is armed to the top with fuck you difficult battles that require a fine-toothes comb of understanding to the combat system. Which I just do not have. Might interest you, though!

I still think in-game keeper duels are a little imbalances because you, the player, are always going first and restricted to just two turns, whereas you opponent will get all three of theirs once it shifts to them. This probs works better in pvp stuff, but I think it just puts the player in a weird disadvantage in the story, especially on their first playthrough. I for one honestly kept forgetting I was only allowed two turns since keeper duels only happen frequently in the latter half of the game.

Anyway yeah still reccommend this game. If you have Pokemon brain like me don't be afraid to play on casual though because this game is not afraid to kick your ass lol

so ff16 fucks hard. really liking the combat thus far. as much as i did like the ff7r combat i will admit i found the menuing a bit weird and clunky. so it's nice to have a game that just killed that dead and which has settled squarely in real time arpg territory. the combat itself is fun albeit fairly easy thus far. i am intrigued by the combo system. especially with the dog and aerials it seems like you can do some wacky shit. i will admit i keep pushing the shift button instead of the dodge button though. i assume i'll get used to it. there's apparently alternate control schemes but we'll use the one we've got thus far.

loving the tone of the game thus far. it's nice to have ff back in a fantasy realm instead of things like 15 or 7r. it's a very different feeling sort of world from like your ff5 or 9 though. the tone especially. i can see why some people have been comparing it, even if jokingly, to asoiaf. since it is very politics based and has a grim, gritty edge to it. also people say shit fuck damn.

music i really, really like. it i think is one of the things that really makes it feel properly final fantasy. soken's stuff is really good. also the strings in the main battle theme reminds me of stuff i adored about the ff13 soundtrack, which is by far my favorite soundtrack in the series.

i've not yet messed with the difficulty setting stuff but i am interested in hearing how it works out for those not into action games or who struggle with them. since it's not just a story difficulty but also additional items that alter specific parts of the gameplay to make them easier. which honestly i think is something needed? because like reducing the health of a boss does diddly dick if what the player struggles with is being able to time dodges.

also, most important for me perhaps, the spectacle of the game is very on point. the segues from gameplay to cutscene are nice and it does seem like the game has a lot of what i liked about 13's pacing. namely that shuttling you through very pretty hallways into high octane fights and then into more cutscenes. but unlike 13 it is offering side activities, towns, npcs and the like to explore. i am wondering how open the the environments will get and how large. thus far they've been small, but i am in the start of the game admittedly. i can't imagine they get too open though. not with how the game appears to be pacing its cutscene and battle balance.

my big concern is if there will be annoying ass forced side quest shit like in 7r. playing 13 made me never want to replay 7r despite how much i loved it that first time. because it's like i just want to go do the big cool fights and see the big cool cutscenes. i don't want to hunt down cats and do stupid ass busy work. it's nice to have those things around as options, but the important bit here is that they are options. they're hardly side quests if the game forces you to fucking do them before you can get back to watching 20 hours worth of squeenix cutscenes interspersed with dumb action set piece bosses. i prefer my ff side content to be side content. not mandatory. easily skipped. i've not seen any indication of being forced to do sidequests, but 7r's forced side quest segments burned me hard.

away from pacing the actual spectacle on offer is super hype! the eikons are big dumb things that fuck shit up super hard and you get to see people just get demolished while big ice spikes and stuff explode out of the earth. there's also the sheer scale of the battle scenes. lots of little dudes running around and siege weaponry and stuff. also the battle between phoenix and ifrit had like lots of big dumb spectacle shit as you zoomed around and stuff. and i am liking the spectacle based nature of the qtes. though i can see the qtes being an irritant for some players. they do appear to be fairly generous windows though and they seem to be limited to pressing attack or dodge during the windows depending on the sort of qte. so none of that bayonetta horseshit where you didn't understand the fucking prompt and now must restart the entire ass boss fight.

anyway ff16. good game thus far. on a very strong foot, which the mainline series desperately needed after 13 and 15.

My opinion hasn't really changed so far, still pretty optimistic over here. I didn't really get anything I really wanted (except for one thing, we'll get to it), but the things I didn't really like weren't catastrophic either, so... Let's just get into it.

Viper I don't know if I like this more or less than I would have liked Corsair (which I wouldn't have liked bc I think pirates are boring). I like the concept of the two combined swords and I think it could look very flashy, but from what I've seen so far I'm not particularly interested, the in-game job trailer really didn't do anything for me.

I guess it's because this job seems very very FF16 to me but in a bad way. Lore and Realism but with fantasy fire effects just doesn't really make for an iconic aesthetic imo... but hey, maybe they just hid the best parts from the job introduction video, they showed like two or three skills at most lol. But who knows.

But as long as I get my Green Mage/Pictomancer I'm not going to complain too much about this one. Good for the people who really love this! Love that for you!

Eliminator Is it just me being desperate for Hamauzu-based Remixes or does this thing exude FF13 energy... Makes me wonder if the Tural-based Technology we've seen in that one dungeon art might be FF13 inspired? I just hope it isn't just Allagan again, make it another nation that lived around that time.

The Areas Kozama'uka looks really pretty... I love when fantasy background elements you can't even reach are "too big" (like FF7 Remake's Midgar Skyboxes) - so I guess Shaaloani still has a chance to win me over depending on whatever we find there. Speaking of which: Shaaloani is exactly what I pictured/dreaded a New World based expansion would look like and I do not particularly like it, I was hoping we would be save from bargain bin wild west stuff at least until we went to Northern Tural. I also hope that the pseudo-oil stuff is just lore and won't be a big part of the msq because good gravy Yoshi-P hire a diversity consultant already I'm dying over here.

The Graphics Update Now let's give it up for the real MVP of the day for all of us no graphic mod people (and to the graphic mod people that complain 'we already had that for years', quit your yappin, 85% of you don't have taste anyways.) The new lighting stuff looks amazing - especially what they did with the fog, it looks gorgeous, I'm so excited. The lighting updates on the character models look so good, too... I think you can really see the difference in that picture they showed of the femRoe scholar in the new AF gear. And the glow up on Midlander Face 1 is amazing. Is that even allowed?? This was slumbering under there all this time???

The Alliance Raid Let's just all pretend we never thought Sakaguchi was going to do them (even though he literally said he wouldn't want to do one) and never talk about it again.

Anyways. FF11. Leaving the best thing for last - this is the thing I was really happily surprised by.

I'm so happy for FF11 :) That game has it fcking rough. It's constantly the one Final Fantasy game that's just. Not even considered. Even what we would reasonably call "Real" FF fans always just leave it out of everything because "MMO" (of course ever since shb that became "the worse MMO" instead) and casual gamers - even ones that play certain FF games - probably don't even realize that nobody ever talks about 11.

But it has so many cool concepts that would warrant a treatment like Eden with FF8 - meanwhile FF14 is directly built on things 11 provided, so many of our base fundamentals, so many generic mob designs, so many of our job concepts, so many things we just take for granted come from FF11 but it still never really got the same attention as the other FFs. Yeah, Eureka and Bozja are kind of based on it, but the way it is referenced is just so different from how most of the other FFs are represented in the game - it's always just the other MMO and it deserves to be treated the same as the others: as the mainline Final Fantasy game that it is.

So I hope they give it the respect it deserves. I need these to be better than Ivalice, just so FF11 gets enshrined somewhere in some way. Their legacy is on the line, Yoshida, so don't fuck it up!!!!! And make sure to include Memoro de la Stono because I like it!!!

I do hope they don't just make one of the Reflections actual FF11 Vana'diel though, I think that would be kind of lazy, it only worked with Y:DA and even there I'm the only person who liked that because I think Kingdom Hearts Bullshit Timeline Shenanigans are fun. I hope this is a FF14 version of Vana'diel like how Ivalice is our Ivalice - with certain concepts reinterpreted through our lense while others reappear almost identically, similar to the FF12 summons.

Now, I haven't actually played 11, I'm just a passionate bystander in all of this, but the one recommendation on things 11 I can give is the Record Keeper version of Awakening - most Record Keeper arrangements are amazing (see FF13's Blinding Light) but this is definitely one of their best.

Anyways! I'm really excited for what they do with it! I don't have any particular fear they're going to fuck the raids up, from a pure spectacle standpoint (the only standpoint that matters) they generally only get better. (except for eulogia) (fuck eulogia) I do hope they make them a little more challenging again, but I also won't be mad if they don't. Just don't ruin your own lore again like with Eulogia (fuck eulogia)! Also, I would love to see the Ark Angels, especially their armors as raid drops kthxbye <3

ok, all jokes aside, i'm not in love with kohga (i have a soft spot for tragic men, not pathetic men unless it's reigen, who is the most pathetic man to ever pathetic and of course i adore him). but he is my favourite from the totk roster. or at least, my emotional favourite.

there's something just so fun about him. he's so stupid, so incompetent and yet still so successful somehow that i just find him hilarious.

he's not very multilayered, and though i think there's stuff to be discussed about how the yiga operate, how they're effectively a cult and how it makes sense that they're there, and how they affect the world around them... there's not much i want to discuss about him, actually.

normally this is something i don't like in a character, he lacks depth, that's not very compelling. but when he's on screen, when his soundtrack goes (and it goes hard) it's impossible to not get hyped and just have a banging time. also his fights were just so fun, so ridiculous!

he really provides levity to tone too, especially in the depths where it's actually quite lonely down there (kudos to the sound developers especially for that one!). i can't tell you how special the weird euphoria felt when i finally saw movement in the depths (which is just an innately hostile environment no matter how strong you are) and it was his dumb ass.

i was genuinely laughing but also very sad when (mild spoilers for later game:) he basically shot himself into the sky because that was probably going to be the last time i would see him. to be fair, i haven't finished the story yet so i still have a sliver of hope.

i think he's a bit of a hidden gem of the game, and i'm still cross with nintendo not giving him any voiced lines and cutscenes like with other characters. his va from age of calamity gave it his all and absolutely made this character fantastic to me, and he would've gone to town with these scenes! a massive missed opportunity!

i have more i could say but i think i would have to explain my opinions on tears of the kingdom as a game, and that would get really long as i have many many opinions on it. somewhat mixed opinions, and that's not the vibe for right now!

I sent in a precious ask whining about megumi, and asking about how the characters would be spread to fight against sukuna and kenjaku, so I wanted to clarify I wasn't two anons T_T I'm just continuing from before ~

I believe yuji will play a big role in defeating kenjaku. What about you? Gojo's presence (I love you I do okay) makes thinking the how difficult given his title as strongest, but I'm wondering when yuji and kenjaku will interact with each other again and in a meaningful way. I'm not expecting immediate love family stuff and all that, but it's wild how small their interactions and dynamic is made of so little despite kenjaku being yuji's parent. As a result, I'm more excited to know how he'll handle sukuna than kenjaku 😭

Like, kenjaku's nefarious ways to birthing yuji is admirable in a loose way and I love what it means about yuji, but can we actually have them interact again please. As of right now, I don't mind who defeats kenjaku lol which is a shame for me. I know others would be upset (I understand) if his defeat was by someone other than yuji.

I wouldn't be surprised if gojo does too because though kenjaku isn't just about geto, but for gojo's motivation/pov, that's still something that has inhabited his best friends body, and then there's yuta, and I'm sure he'll fight kenjaku, but I'm unsure if that'll be his own defeat, and with that in mind, I'm curious to see how this can get done with the literal strongest who they had to seal being back in the game.

As for megumi, like I mentioned last ask about his sense of self overpowering sukuna's, but I can see yuji playing that big role with megumi playing a more active role to defeat sukuna.

Maki is a beast too, so I wonder what's going to happen with her. Also, miwa looked so ominous during her walk after the sendai colony, but I saw her standing with the group too?? I thought she would do something, but these next few chapters will tell something hopefully. Kashimo is in an interesting position as well since he wants to fight sukuna, so that's another thing. I could really see him leaving early and fighting sukuna already 🤣

Another question, but now that sukuna has megumi's ct, do you think him using it against gojo later would put him in a different light than if he didn't have it? Sukuna is pretty arrogant and confident in his strength and we still don't have 20 finger sukuna, but I always felt like him obtaining the ten shadows to add to his arsenal would make him seem like he knows he needs it to defeat gojo if he uses both his cts and that would mean he thinks hes not strong enough on his own and that doesn't seem to fit. If he fights gojo, I'm not sure gege would go the same route again with sukuna using only the 10S against gojo to make it seem like defeat by one of his students is his ending, so perhaps he may just use Shrine and if he believes he can win, then later he would use the 10S to create his world. I ask this because gojo vs sukuna is also the fated gojo vs zenin fight and what would it be without the six eyes plus 10S, so it's a mystery of how it'll all be handled.

I do think giving the antagonists, especially kenjaku prepping time will bite them in the ass.

25: oc that most closely resembles me? well vertigo is probably the closest because he also functions as one of my personas, so most of his appearance aside he's just me but perpetually tired and with cool powers. like i could say sharky too but again like. he is JUST me as an adult in an ideal world so i dont consider him an oc. although of my non-personas, i'd yet again have to say parker. brown hair, brown eyes, parents that suck, lover of sharks, ADHD energy, generally kinda weird, especially about guys. big difference though is that he's bi while i'm not. nor am i a 5'10" cis guy like him lol

28: most DANGEROUS? probably vertigo. i mean just look at all the scars rowdy has. his fault for picking a fight with vertigo though. like vertigo's generally pretty docile but he's very likely to win in a fight with the powers he has. other than him you don't wanna mess with hot-rod or ding. they both hit the gym and know how to fight. although you're FAR more likely to rile up hot-rod, but why would you even want to when he could probably crush your spine just by squeezing you too tightly. oh yeah also bubbles can kick ass

29: which of my ocs would investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone? probably DJ. maybe screwball too but idk how likely he'd be to just not tell anyone

32: ooooh horror game protag. ive never played a horror game so idk for sure. parker and cassidy would both be the type of guy to check every single little thing and also be terrified out of their minds (screwball and juicebox too (ok maybe juicebox wouldnt interact with *every*thing)). august and ding would both have a "no big deal lol" attitude and then proceed to be proven wrong. DJ, rowdy, hot-rod and bubbles would all try to keep composure but it's also pretty clear that they're scared. vertigo doesn't find it all that scary. so who's the most suitable? no idea like what should i even be looking for here

43: my type? loser men. aka like a large majority of my characters. also dudes with long hair. i've also been partial to chubby guys as of late. cassidy is all 3 of those

49: most likely to enjoy memes? each of my oc worlds takes place in the modern era so they all at least know OF memes. but the characters that probably get a kick out of them the most would be DJ and parker, juicebox and amelia, and probably cassidy. maybe fenton and charlotte idk

50: it's getting late at the time of writing this so i'll keep it to smth brief: boardwalk of beasts and vertigo's oc world both have canon ships, but gang's bay is pretty much free game for shipping. really the only rules are no problematic ships and to respect canon sexualities (sharky is mlm, bubbles is a lesbian, milkshake is aroace), and be extra careful if you wanted to ship shipwreck with anyone, for obvious reasons. but im down for pretty much anything. you have my full permission to ship sharky with any of the guys, bc frankly i'd be dtf with any of em. also i think ship names will be super fun with the gang nicknames. like screwbox for example. fun! also bubbles and hot-rod did date during college so im ok with depictions of that too but not like actively shipping gang-era them if that makes sense.

PREGAME: my partner played officer barrel in a production of urinetown and I saw the closing show yesterday and they are the best barrel of all time!!!!! better than everyone else!!!!! fuck all of you my partner just brings some nice gravitas to the character your stupid ass could never understand!!!!!! i want them to take me to urinetown!!! And so a few days before the show they sent me this fic and told me to read it and of course I would! I read it twice before the show and then twice after so I could gauge how the fanfic was to someone who hadn’t known the characters in full detail and then read it so I could compare the vibe of it to the performance I saw. I am a reviewer who only wants the best for his audience baby and I always deliver except when my friend sends me like a 12 part 500k word story about the amphibia characters disemboweling people I don’t think I can get through that series for him but maybe I will one day who knows. But anyways I was awoken in the middle of the night and that caused me to get inspired to reread the fanfic and write this review so enjoy my fellow alphas

REVIEW: When I opened this shit up and read the tags, I was slapped across the face with a SECOND PERSON POINT OF VIEW. Who the fuck write a fanfiction about two characters in SECOND PERSON??? I am here to read officer barrel get fucked by officer lockstock, “You” doesn’t even fucking exist in this world it takes me out of the immersion baby like what the fuck???? BUT!!! That was just my first impression because oh baby what if I told YOU that this was second person POV being used EFFECTIVELY?? Like what the fuck I didn’t expect it to be actually pretty solidly written so I kinda respected the second person POV as a quirk of the writer and let go of it and the immersion was never really lost it was weird. I’ve read only one other fanfic that did that correctly and that was because it was this one that was in the style of the disco Elysium game and so it enhanced the reading experience very well, I need to review it one day. But the point is that this is like kinda good. Before reading it, my partner and I looked through the comments and we noticed three things: 1) basically everyone reading it was in a production of urinetown and one person who commented actually had lockstock and barrel kiss which was cool I guess AND 2) people who weren’t a big fan of second person POV were into it, AND 3) an account called JDFangirl3.14 commented, “I’m doing this play right now, and we all love how beautifully and grammatically correct this is written! 👨❤️👨”. This comment may seem innocuous and normal but I was shitting my pants when I read that it said that it was grammatically correct. I am the type of guy who can’t really get off to reading fanfic shit, and like especially if there’s a grammatical error it just takes me out of the immersion. But once I read the fic I realized that this dude was almost right. Basic grammar laws were abided most of the time but there was one typo with wall being wal and one mistake where the author didn’t put a space in between two words. But that was easily passed over because man I was already engrossed in this body of work which alluded me because I had to reread it three times to realize that those were there but maybe I’m stupid.

This author (I wish they had not deleted their account so I could thank them) somehow blended in together some elements of shit I didn’t like (second person pov, italics for internal and external dialogue, cops) and somehow brought it together into something pretty solid and immersive to me. And like character wise it’s kinda in character like maybe the production I watched played it different than theirs because I couldn’t really imagine officer lockstock being too intimidating and I had to like separate the characters appearances and voices in my head from the actors in the production because it would be weird and kinda cuck-y to imagine your partner and the dude that played lockstock getting at it at amenity number nine so take my interpretation of the characters with a grain of salt. Like the dialogue isn’t the best sometimes and it feels like I’ve read a few fanfics that have said the same shit before but I don’t know maybe I’m riding a high on something that’s not making me as critical as I usually am. Yeah so if you like a nice combination of second person pov and you wish you could watch urinetown cops fuck on stage then hey this fanfic is for you.

Hey y'all, just got back from watching the rest of manlybadasshero's omori lets play and i thought i'd share some of my thoughts about the game! (NEEDLESS TO SAY, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!)

So let's get one SUPER ULTRA MEGA BIG thing out of the way first, i would've 100% enjoyed my experience a lot more if i wasn't such a huge scatterbrain and spoiled the big twist at the end for myself. Though in my defense i kinda wasn't expecting the game to get so popular so quick when it first came out, i first heard of the game through manly and i thought it was just another obscure indie game like what he always plays. Aside from that though....I LOVED IT!!!!! It tugged at my heartstrings with it's accurate portrayal of mental illness and the heartwarming moments between sunny and his friends, it really reminded me of my own childhood in a lot of ways. I've found myself relating to all the characters in some sort of way, especially aubrey. Idk....just the way she lashed out on others throughout the game really spoke to me in a weird way......either that or it's just because i like rebellious characters in general (the fact that she has a pet bunny is a plus for me, i love bunnies!)

Ngl, i don't cry to video games often....i'm pretty sure the only games i've ever cried to are undertale and pokemon sword but even then, i was crying about pokemon sword because i was proud of myself for completing the game....and honestly, i'm glad omori is one of those games that make me emotional like that...even if i already knew sunny killed mari, even if i already knew basil killed himself in one of the endings. Though that could also be because my dog wouldn't shut the fuck up while i was watching the last few episodes and i was just stressed out about that

If i had to pick: i feel like i prefer headspace over real world, i was an undertale kid back in the day so i love me some quirky characters and fun worlds! Though tbh i feel like omocat WANTED her players to like headspace more since she explicitly said at one point that she specifically wanted to make omori a game so that people would be able to FEEL what sunny was feeling (that's the best way i can explain it i guess) that being said; i'd say my favorite characters are aubrey, spaceboy and recyclepath. I've already said what i've wanted to say about aubrey earlier but aside from that, i think she's really cool and VERY me-core! Same goes for spaceboy, i'm a huge sucker for bright colors and space-themed characters. Not to mention recyclepath is a really unique character, i've never seen a character based ENTIRELY on recycling before! Plus his coat and glasses remind me a LOT of oliver tree and i mean....hey, i like songs like alien boy and life goes on lmao

Ngl while i DID get the endings spoiled for me, there was still a lot of stuff that was a HUGE surprise for me! Like BRO I HAD NO IDEA KEL AND HERO HAD A BABY SISTER!!!! I mean....i DO vaguely remember someone mention sally in a youtube comment section but i had no idea what they were talking about and i was kinda just confused (iirc i may have even thought that kel and hero having a sister was just a weird dream i had) but i mean hey....as the youngest sister of 3 siblings who was born when my mom was in her 40's myself, i appreciate the representation! /hj

I actually first got into omori because a good friend of mine was into it, it started when he changed his pfp on discord to basil and we had a really short conversation about the game afterwards. A while later i saw an omori edit in my youtube rec and i thought "oh yay it's that game my friend likes! Let's watch it!" And the rest, as they say, is history! Dunno why the fuck it took me a whole ass year to finish the damn playthrough though

Speaking of which, i DEFINITELY wish that manly showed the hikkikomori route bosses in his playthrough. Seeing thoses cutscenes of the slime girls creating roboheart, mutantheart and perfectheart REALLY got me pumped to see the boss fights! Oh well....

All in all, omori is a SPECTACULAR game and i'm glad i decided to check it out! 9/10!
