im sorry SUPER random question but I've been on a twst kick recently and found your blog (side note I love your art sm), and I've noticed this whole "Alfonso my long lost third cousin" bit being brought up a few times, is that an intentional gag or just a coincidence?
thank you! :D it's not anything from canon; I just like to do little self-referential callbacks sometimes! like, there's no real consistency between my Twst comics (the only constant is that These Boys Be Useless), it's pretty much purely to make myself laugh. but also a little bit in the hopes that by doing the same joke over and over again, it might eventually become funny? only time will tell.
somehow, despite the negative continuity in general, this one kind of accidentally evolved from "everyone watches this very dramatic soap opera" into "also it starred Vil as E(vil) Alfonso". though he probably did end up getting replaced when he took his break from acting... 🤔

Language divides and building bridges.
Elesa’s feeling homesick. Emmet, bless his heart, tries to help by infodumping while Ingo frantically runs off to find water (crying is a very dehydrating experience).
((Would you look at that! The kids are picking up kantonese and galarian from each other!))

Tails has dealt with enough bullies to stand by and let Robotnik threaten his new friend 😤
(Robotnik is supposed to have a gun or another zappy weapon in his hand pointing at Sonic, but I completely forgot it,, just assume he's got blasters in his eggmobile he was pointing at Sonic in that moment)
ANYWAY CUE AVALANCHE!!!

There's something really poignant in the way Vessel starts the album with "Will you listen" and finishing it off with "I will be what I am", and the way those two songs use the same staccato synth to create a loop.
EIA is filled with identity crisis - he doesn't know who is/was; there are two of him that need to co-exist somehow; he's not the same as before but still himself. Musically speaking, this album pushes genres and boundaries in ways that are certain to alienate certain groups of people. And he knows all that.
He is asking us to actually listen to him, to the music, and ends with an unapologetic statement. This is me, this is what you get, this is what will always be. And as you loop the album, the "will you listen" question is ever present in the way he gets uncomfortably honest about who he is, and all the things that have transpired before (some significantly more recent).
"Stick to me, walk beside me; stride by stride together; show me how to dance; drift with me."
If we just listen and embrace him, embrace Sleep Token for all that they are, maybe we can actually dance forever - as a team. Together.

When Astarion is talking about how Cazador starved him, giving him only as much blood as he needed to function, he says this:
"I existed. That was enough for him."
Meaning Cazador valued him only as a tool.
The relationship he forms with Tav/Durge is the exact opposite, though the words could be the same.
You exist. That is enough for me.
Meaning they demand nothing of him. He doesn't need to be anything other than himself in order to be loved and valued.

If I had my way, no one would touch Tim's Red Robin run without having read Batman: Prodigal, YJ 1998, and Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul (at minimum) first. I understand why people do, but also…..you miss soooo much of the story's depth if you don't read those books first
there are just so many callbacks and references and character nuance and background context that you will NEVER EVER GET if you don't understand how Yost's run is the deliberate culmination of 20+ years of stories that rewards readers who have followed Tim's character and relationships and growth since 1989

I've always found the idea of using lofty titles like Duke and Deo for baby names hilarious, primarily due to the beautiful image of little baby Warlord smashing mashed peas up his nose at the dinner table, but am I funny enough as an unimpressive 5'3" dumpster-diving transmasc to name myself something as cringingly, lavishly grandiose as "King"?
we shall see
