im shaking every single student organizer and screaming that they need to separate a demand to divest from arms funding from the demand for a university to cut off all contact with Israeli and Israeli-American scholars and students, a demand which no university will agree to because implementing it would in many cases be very illegal

Experiencing weird feelings regarding someone identifying as a w******, it certainly isn't my place to assume they aren't native american but it still strikes an uncomfortable chord in me as they seem to be unaware of cultural attitudes towards the spirit. Have there been community discussions surrounding this topic before? I'd really be curious to hear them, and to especially hear from native alterhumans from whose cultures this spirit belongs.

"it came to me in a dream" except it actually came to me in a dream.
a few nights ago i had a pretty coherent dream where these five were younger kids and living on an ARK-type research facility as test subjects. this might be a stupid concept, but im planning on spending the next few days playing with the idea. more information coming soon :3c (maybe) (also in the tags pls read the tags)
this will probably be tagged with 'lab au' depending on if i come up with a better name

I do enjoy being friends with writers across different fields. I did, however, just recently end a long-term friendship I had with a freelance journalist/medium columnist. And because of how radically she misinterpreted our last few conversations there's a chance she thinks I did it because she's poly.
Which is. Oh my god. Not even the prologue to that story. But it would make a pretty engaging article, wouldn't it?
Anywho I'm hoping she won't be as petty as I feel like she might be, but since she wrote a Medium think piece after her last bad relationship there's a good chance she might write one about my perceived polyphobia. I'm imagining she won't name me? But holy shit if she does this I'm circumventing my don't argue online rule because holy SHIT.

I love following Tumblr’s generic “science” tag. I get links to new studies, experts blogging directly about their specific research, experts making jokes about their research, all the fun stuff NASA is up to, bone-related art, random cool facts, study aesthetic boards, discussions of science fiction literature and films, dinosaur memes, and fringe conspiracy blogs saying that vaccine researchers lock puppies in cages to be eaten alive by flies until death just for the heck of it and their only source is a screenshot of a tweet made by a known nazi-sympathizer with notes full of people condemning the moral depravity of the left in between saying how they should throw drug addicts in the fly cages instead.

i think that even beyond the complexities of halachic nuances, my biggest problem in regards to writing jewish characters is that: it is important to me that i actually put thought into their relationship with judaism and the way that they would engage with it on a practical level—i don't want to just decide to slap "oh they're incidentally jewish" on them and then decide they're secular for my own convenience as an author, you know? but also, there's a spectrum between "totally secular" and "100% observant orthodox", and i feel like i just don't know enough about how people make those decisions, what they prioritize and what they don't and how their background and surroundings affect that
