What I think I find most disgusting about 'menstruation as a signal of motherhood' is the fact that largely, we don't even think that way about animals.
Greedy/shitty people and shitty backyard breeders aside, we actually take more care to ensure that animals aren't bred before they're physically sound to be than we do people. Its even considered neglect and in some locations outright abuse to breed an animal before its 'feasibly sound to bear and birth' young.
My neighbour actually had her French bulldog taken away from her because it seasoned young and she had it bred straight away. It was far, far too small and young to bear puppies without serious risk and complication and her vet clinic reported her for neglect and puppy-farming.
YEAH???? And like. It doesn’t make any sense to me how somebody can genuinely believe that that’s all it takes to safely carry a pregnancy to term. You don’t have to go to medical school or have a degree to know this, I’m sure as shit not a genius, I’ve just listened to people’s experiences with being pregnant and giving birth. The human body is fucking weird, things happen all the time, just because you’re born with one set of organs doesn’t mean you’re good to go and won’t have any problems. There’s all kinds of complications that can occur, there are people capable of getting pregnant who will never be able to carry a pregnancy to term, there are people who can get pregnant but giving birth could cause significant damage to their physical or mental health, or outright cost them their lives. I find it absolutely insane when people try to say that having a period or having a uterus means you were meant to get pregnant, meant to give birth, as if that means fucking anything when the human body is simply unpredictable, and even if somebody is capable of doing so without issue, they should never have to unless it’s their decision. I try very, very hard to understand where other people are coming from, especially when I disagree with them, not because it will change my mind but just because I want to understand their point of view better, but this feels nearly impossible to me because I can’t understand how people would believe this when there is so much factual evidence that proves otherwise.
#discourse tw#pregnancy tw#miscarriage tw#animal abuse tw#I just want to tag for anything up there that could be uncomfortable#in general this shit makes me lose my mind because to me#it’s very easy to read medical and scientific evidence and draw conclusions from there#it’s very easy to hear people’s personal stories and draw conclusions from that#so I cannot understand people who seem to WANT to remain ignorant#I love minding my own business and not caring what other people do with themselves#so I can’t understand people who think that everyone else should live by their religious beliefs#and I think there’s an extra layer of frustration because what set me off was from someone I used to be friends with#and it has driven me insane wondering#were they always like this????#the topic didn’t come up a lot but it DID come up#were they sitting there fucking seething??? disgusted at our beliefs on the matter? but kept quiet about it?#or were they normal and smth happened after we stopped talking????#I can’t comprehend how the person I was friends with#can say a ten year old child should have to give birth#how they can agree that if a child has started their period their body is ready to carry a child#it’s heartbreaking and disgusting and I am so so confused and there is nothing to do#but be angry I guess#I can’t stop thinking of the video I saw#of the woman from Texas testifying about the harm the abortion bans caused to her#I think about it once a day it feels like and it was god awful#I can’t imagine being so heartless that you think she should have to go through that suffering#because of /your/ beliefs#anonymous

Hello! It's me again, your fellow Katipunera. Thank you so much for actually doing a short of my request and omg tibak Hange is just so fitting! 🥺 I hope you actually turn it into a full-length fic eventually, I can just imagine Hange teaching Levi different constellations as they stargaze at the PAG-ASA observatory lol. Again, many thanks and stay safe always! 🌻
Felt some sort of motivation to continue this fic, and since it's @levihanweek, I wanted to write something in a college setting, so here we go:
Tumblr media
Day 1: School
(Read the first part here.)
He doesn’t know when it all started, how it happened. Hange draws him towards her by inviting him to more of these gatherings. The non-rallies. The post- or pre-processing for the protests. It’s informational, she says, something that classes could never teach them. And all he can do is listen and follow along.
They reserve a room on campus, one hidden from plain view, and Hange stands there in front in her plain black tee and baggy jeans, her flip flops a signature element to her outfit. A small crowd has gathered beforehand, waiting for what she has to say. Going up the small platform in the room, she balls her right hand into a fist in front of her audience, raises it up high, and begins her talk.
“The March for Science is a protest on behalf of the scientific and the marginalized community,” she says, reminding everyone that “no farmers, no food,” and “just the facts, bitches.” She elicits a few giggles from the younger audience, and that’s how Levi knows Hange’s got them hooked.
The people are intrigued by her speech, and there is a certain curiosity in their eyes with the way they burn bright. For Levi, politics was always something he didn't dare venture into and would rather leave things to his uncle who had a seat in the government. He wonders if there really is something worth fighting for in these kinds of issues. If there’s something worth standing up for. Or if it’s merely just Hange being Hange that sparks the interest of people.
When the meeting is over, he’s about to head for the exit, but Hange comes up to him. “What do you think?”
He shrugs his shoulders. “Could go a little bit softer with the dissent, but shit, you do you.”
Hange laughs, thinks it’s a joke. It’s only the two of them left in the room now. She puts her hands in her pockets. “Wanna have lunch with me?”
“Why?”
"I just feel like having some company right now. Besides, it’s National Resilience Day."
"I don't give a shit about the date," he says, making a mental note to remember that it is, indeed, National Resilience Day. He really doesn’t know how Hange has an inkling to know these kinds of obscure events. In the silence, his stomach betrays him with a gurgling sound, much to Hange’s amusement. “I guess I don’t mind grabbing something to eat.”
Truth be told he doesn’t like eating at the public cafeteria. It’s too open, too messy, and the busboys who collect the empty plates from the tables are terrible when it comes to waiting—last time he stayed there, Levi was still finishing up his meal when someone swiped his plate from him. Now he’d rather dine elsewhere. Perhaps in fancier restaurants that he can somehow afford with the weekly allowance that his uncle provides him.
But Hange doesn’t take him there.
She takes it a notch above his expectations when she brings him to the public food carts where vendors are selling street food of all kinds. Levi can hear the sizzling of fish balls getting deep-fried in a wok, the crackling of hot oil, the clinking of coins being exchanged in transaction. One of the vendors is basting the meat sticks in sweet sauce, flipping the skewers once in a while, the smell of barbeque wafting through the air.
“I go here ‘cause it’s cheap and it helps the small business owners,” Hange explains as she orders them the so-called combo meals. He offers to pay nevertheless, but Hange dismisses it, saying it’s her treat—for tagging him along to these talks. She continues to explain the plight of the vendors: “Some days they need assistance, so they allow students to take over the stalls and sell their food on behalf of them for a day or two.”
“What kind of students would do that? It’s disgusting to be under the heat of the sun all day.” He blurts out without really thinking, but thankfully, Hange’s not the slightest offended.
In fact, she seems to understand where he’s coming from. “One day, maybe you’ll see.”
When their meals are ready, Hange shoves one of the plates into his hands. He frowns. “You don’t eat cheese sticks?” she asks him.
“Never tried.”
“Oh, boy.” Hange smirks at him. “This will change your life.”
Instead of heading to the cafeteria, she proposes to take him someplace else. They’re sitting cross-legged on a bench in front of the academic oval, watching people run across the grassy field. Hange waves a hand at someone and Levi recognizes Moblit from their other class. He has never really done this before, just watching, observing from a distance. Except when he’s with her.
Hange takes another piece of cheese stick from the paper plate of instant stir-fry noodles. They’re running out of fish balls on the side. He likes what he’s had so far, even the sauce that goes along with their meals.
"So what are you taking?" Hange asks him while munching on her food.
He twirls his fork on the plate so he can scoop the remaining noodles. "Communications." Hange guffaws, and he’s offended. "What's so funny?"
Hange tries to compose herself and proceeds to dip her cheese stick into the honey mustard. "No, it's just that… for someone who's so awfully high-strung and silent and, uh, non politically-involved, you don't strike me as the type of person who would be… communicative."
Her conclusion does make sense. Most students studying Communication are lively, energetic, and talkative. Needless to say, he’s none of those.
"I don't imagine myself to be a reporter. I imagine myself writing articles for print. Editing. Proofreading. Stuff like that."
"I see.” She stares into the sunset, and Levi does the same. There are trees all around them, the honking of cars on the main road, the clamor of barkers and passengers alighting the public vehicles, the nuances of their campus life.
Somehow, it makes him feel safe.
Hange proceeds to tell him about how she likes to stargaze at night, because the constellations are so much clearer from this point of view in their university field. He has an inkling that it’s her way of inviting him to stargaze with him some other time. He already likes the idea a lot, but he feels like he still wants to get to know her even better.
“Why are you into all of this?” he can’t help but ask her. “What makes you think your anger can solve the nation's problems?”
It’s a very loaded question, one that really makes Hange think. She doesn’t speak for a while and proceeds to finish her food. He allows her the silence between them. Maybe he should have been a little bit nicer. A little less aggressive.
"Our very own Father President refuses to put medical science before politics. Everyone should be a supporter of science, you know? We all should listen to the scientists."
He scoffs. “Easy for you to say. It’s hard to believe what’s true and what isn’t nowadays.”
Their plates are now empty, and Levi takes hers so he can throw it in the nearest trash can. When he comes back, he sits beside her once again, this time, closer.
"I care about science and evidence-based policies, not the nonsense that politicians say,” Hange tells him while staring at the sunset. After a few seconds of silence, she faces him. “What about you?"
Levi finds the strength to hold her gaze. "I care about the untarnished truth."

How much did the US govt know about torture not working in the early 60's? Information isn't the point here - convincing/coercing a rebellious superhuman raised since he was 3 to be a super-soldier to do as he's told is the goal. Military upbringing kept him cheerfully obedient for 20-odd years, but now the plot has hit the fan and he's killed several people in a bid to gtfo. So the brass is obviously freaking out. Would they have known torture was a Bad Plan? Or were we still figuring that out?
That’s a genuinelyinteresting question.
I think it isn’t justabout the information that was available at the time but who would have accessto it and who would read it. It also depends on whether we’re talking about scientific data or anecdotal accounts.People have been saying torture doesn’t work for literally hundreds of years. But it’s only within the last 100 years or so that we’ve had systematicscientific experimentation back that up.
There’s also thesignificant issue of whether anyone would listen to information they didn’twant to hear. There have been severalscientific studies which strongly suggest we as a species are very bad at listening to data thatcontradicts our strongly held beliefs.
Which means that ifthese characters strongly believetorture is effective they will probably argue for torture whether they’ve seenevidence to refute their belief or not.
And converselycharacters who strongly believe thattorture doesn’t work will argue against torture whether they have evidence ornot.
Some of the experimentson sensory deprivation would have already been conducted by this time, but I’mnot sure how widely available the results were within the military. I’m notsure how much effective communication there was between high rankingindividuals across departments.
There had been analysis of Soviet‘brainwashing’ techniques by that time, with the conclusion that the torturesused were not unusual and indeed had been used by the Chicago police force fordecades. I’m not sure how many people in the military will have had access tothat report though.
And the report itselfis not exactly ‘anti-torture’ or even really saying that torture doesn’t work.Just that Russian torture at the time was neither unique nor unusual.
What keeps coming tomind for me is actually medical ethics.
One of the experimentsthat comes up in The Immortal Life ofHenrietta Lacks was doctors injecting live cancer cells from Henrietta intopatients without telling them what the injections were or why they were doingit. Doctors administering the injections were instructed not to tell patients and most of them went along with it.
Until the headresearcher Southam made an arrangement with the Jewish Chronic Disease Hospitalin Brooklyn in 1963 to use some of their patients in his experiments. ThreeJewish doctors refused to inject anything in the patients if they couldn’t tellthe patients what it was.
 They cited Nuremberg.
When the hospitalcarried on with the experiments the doctors sent a resignation letter to theirboss. And the papers.
Now both Southam and the hospital director claimed they’dnever heard of Nuremberg.
In 1963 two people at the top of their field in the US who were bothheavily involved in experimental research on humans said they had not heard of the only ethical guidelines forexperimentation on human beings. And otherdoctors backed them up.
What I’m driving athere is that I’m not sure it matters for your story whether the researchexisted or not. Because there is a lot of precedent for people in positions ofauthority being unaware of or ignoring things they thought might be detrimentalto them.
Which means that Ithink this question basically comes back to making a decision based on what’sright for the story.
Do you want this character to be tortured? Andif so why? How would it affect the story you want to tell? Not just thecharacter or the plot or even the relationships between the characters but the mood and atmosphere of the story?
How comfortable are youwith writing it?
I don’t mean the gore.Gore is easy. How comfortable are you getting inside your character’s head whenthey are suffering? How comfortable are you getting inside a torturer’s head when they hurtingsomeone? Because believe me that is not a very pleasant thing to have floatingaround your brain for the days/weeks/months it takes to write something.
How comfortable are youwith introducing something that would leave a mark over the rest of the book?Because done well, this isn’t just a one-off incident that the character canthen walk away from; it’s something that will affect them for the rest of thetime you write about them.
Keeping in mind thatreferencing and having a conversation within the story about torture is verydifferent to using torture.
It sounds like whateveryou pick that conversation is going to come up in your story. I’d suggestmaking it a debate and giving the audience some insight into who wants what tohappen and why. Whichever side ‘wins’ having the discussion in your story willprobably help the story.
Going back to specificexperiments: Shalev references the isolation prison systems of the 19thcentury as providing clear evidence of the damaging effects of solitary confinement.I get the impression that the information was either not well known or ignoredin the US because solitary became a large and integral part of the US prisonsystem. This is despite the fact some of these historical prisons were in the US.
Donald Hebb’s ethical experimentson sensory deprivation took place in the early 50s. Baldwin was discussingsensory deprivation with the CIA in 1955 and Lilly quit his work on sensorydeprivation in 1958 in part because of how CIA officials wanted to use hisresearch.
So the CIA knew about the damaging effects ofsensory deprivation in particular in the early 50s but were still pursuingunethical experiments on the subject in 1958. Which does not, in my opinion, showa great ability to pay attention to results.
The report on Soviet ‘brainwashing’by doctors H Wolff and L Hinkle began in 1953. It was handed in to the CIA in 1956.
The Wickersham commission,a report on torture by US police, was conducted in the 1920s.
I do not know howwidely available the CIA reports would have been to the US military. They don’tseem to have been public knowledge in the 60s but high ranking militaryofficials might have been able to read them, since I know very little about theway the US military works I don’t know.
The Wickershamcommission however was public knowledge as were the reports by individualisolation prisons.
So there were a good number of reports that yourcharacters could potentially reference and draw on for information.
My suggestion? Have thedebate in the story. Have the military characters discuss whether they think ‘tougher’tactics would work, whether they’re ethical and whether it’s worth the risk. (Because it is a risk, they risk losing their supersoldier)
Have the charactersdraw on the reports I’ve mentioned and have them draw on their own experience as well. Because the men you’re talking aboutwill probably remember the Second World War. Some of them will have been inEurope and seen the liberation of thecamps.
Use that. You can getone helluva an emotional scene out of this, whether it leads to torture or not.
 I hope that helps. :)

How Biostatistics is Transforming Healthcare
Biostatistics and Healthcare Uses of Biostatistics  Biostatistics’ Relationship to Nursing? Skills Required in Biostatistics Career Scope as a Biostatistician
In recent times, we have been observing the change in the levels of awareness among the general public regarding health and the developing trends in the areas of effective and affordable healthcare delivery. The healthcare scenario in the country today, points towards increasing awareness of diseases and their treatment. Information technology (IT) is making giant inroads into Healthcare as well. The commercialisation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be seen in the rapid incorporation of new applications in different areas of treatment and care.
Technology is playing a significant role in making treatment less painful, time-saving and affordable. No one can deny that the Internet of Things (IoT) is the future of healthcare. Artificial intelligence and data analytics are bringing greater opportunities for the sector, offering faster, more effective treatment options that have wider affordability and acceptability. Robotic surgeries, radiation surgery or radio therapies with cyberknife options, and transplant support systems, among other facilities, are likely to see further advancements.
Technology-led innovations in healthcare are bound to open doors to a newer, braver world where healthcare is much more accessible and affordable. India’s medical tourism industry is expected to grow to around $8 billion industry by 2020 from the current $3 billion. Given this scenario, it is safe to predict that India is set to become the hub for medical tourism in the very near future.
Biostatistics is a branch of Statisticswhich deals with the data related to Medical Science, Public Health, Medical Research, Epidemiology and so on. In simpler words, when we apply Statistics in Biological Science – it is called Biostatistics.
Biostatistics is a method that comprises of a collection of data, summarizing, analyzing and drawing inferences in scenarios such as:
A local Public Health Centre (PHC) wants to know the proportion of people affected by an outbreak of certain disease and to find out the causes behind it and to prevent further circumstances.
During a clinical trial, there are many phases for drug or device development. And the question arises “How will they know whether the trial is going good or bad?”
In a pharmaceutical company, they want to know the dissolution rate of a particular tablet and to know whether it satisfies the desired rate or not. Similarly, they want to know the mean weight of a tablet to compare with other batches. Now, the  question is “How will they do the analysis?”
In the above-mentioned scenarios, we apply Biostatistics concepts and do the analysis. Based on the analysis results, the inference is drawn about the given problem.
The National Cancer Institute defines biostatistics as “the science of collecting and analyzing biologic or health data using statistical methods.” The use of statistics in health care dates back more than a century to the earliest application of the scientific method in medical research. Many health care decisions are based in small or large part on the results of biostatistical research. What has changed in recent years is the amount of health-related data available to researchers, the technology available to translate the information into knowledge, and the need to improve the quality and efficiency of health care.
Medical Research
Methods from this form of study are used significantly in medical research as a way of obtaining, analyzing and interpreting data in order to reach the conclusion that guides the medical community. In fact, the role of biostatistics is quite crucial in the understanding of a multitude of important health issues. The data provided through the lens of such a study is used to provide insights that determine if a treatment is effective, as well as to isolate factors that are contributing to disease. These examples are just a few relevant ways that statistical methods can guide biological study in medicine.
Epidemiology
Epidemiology is an umbrella term covering the wide range of public health matters. The cause, progression and spread of disease are analyzed using biology and statistics. This information gives researchers insight into such considerations as specific symptoms, mortality rates and when outbreaks may occur. The development of vaccines and other medical interventions are guided through such knowledge. No longer is medical research merely observation-based. Much more can be accomplished through the use of detailed statistical analysis and evidence.
Cancer Research
While statistical methods are a benefit to medical research in general, the incorporation of statistics in the realm of cancer research is particularly useful. Because treatments such as chemotherapy are so hard on the body and can cause such drastic side effects, medical professionals want to be able to discontinue the use of particular therapies as soon as possible if they are not having the desired effect on patients. The use of statistical evidence can show medical personnel more clearly and quickly which methods are making a difference and which aren’t helping so that a new course of action can be more readily employed. As with other medical research, biostatistical methods are also a guiding force in the clinical trials and cause identification of cancer.
Familiarity with statistical principles helps nurses understand and evaluate the results of health care studies. It also enables them to participate in medical research projects and communicate the results of biostatistical research to patients and other health care workers in ways that are easy for them to understand. The analytical and interpretive concepts underlying biostatistics correspond to many advanced nursing practices, including the creation of more efficient care delivery systems and the development of individualized care strategies intended to improve patient outcomes.
A biostatistics definition from a practical perspective must incorporate the specific training and experience required to ensure that practitioners are able to apply the technology in their daily work. Understanding how biostatistics data translates into improved health care delivery and patient outcomes requires strong analytical and technological competencies to gather and interpret the data. Well-developed communication skills enable accurate deployment of custom patient care strategies to ensure that the individual care plans created for their patients are being followed and are having the desired effect.
Biostatisticians in Medical Research:
Biostatisticians (Post Graduate in Statistics or Medical/Health) are in high demand due to their various responsibilities in scientific data. They also collaborate with informatics, experts, scientists, and researchers for various functions. They consider the variables in subjects like patients, communities, or population to understand them and also make sense of different sources of variation. It is to achieve their ultimate goal of solving problems in public health by disentangling the received data and make valid inferences. It is the reason they are in demand in government agencies and legislative offices. Their research is used often to influence changes at the policy-making levels.
Responsibilities Include:
To determine the ways to utilize the vast information and statistics obtained through various sources like genomics, clinical trials, experimental studies and observational and longitudinal studies for public health.
Being specialists of data evaluation, they take complex and mathematical findings of clinical trials and research related data.  They then translate them into variable information to make public health decisions.
Biostatisticians are required to develop statistical methods for the following:
Clinical trials to study and evaluate treatments, screening and prevention methods in the population
Epidemiological studies of the origins of disease in humans
Spatial studies of the geographical distribution of disease and risk factors
Genomics which is the study of the biological activity of genes as they relate to disease and treatments
Human genetics a study of the genetic differences among diseases and disease stateBiostatistics is responsible for public health all over the world with data collection and its interpretation in various ways.
Biostatistician in Clinical Research
Many students studying medicine find it unnecessary in their initial years of study to learn statistics.  But the reality is many profound doctors feel the need biostatistics since in the time of their study it was not in the medical study curriculum.  The doctors need to study biostatistics not only for researchers but also to enhance their reading capability of medical literature. Only with the introduction of evidence-based medicines as a cornerstone for medical management, biostatistics came into vital prevalence.
Responsibilities Include:
It is, in turn, is based on many randomized controlled clinical types of research. Only this will provide rock-solid evidence to help doctors in making decisions on the best management options for patients. A firm understanding of statistical methods only will facilitate the understanding of clinical research methods and results. Hence biostatistics plays an important role in evidence-based medicine, which is the base for doctors to recommend treatments for patients now.
Other roles of biostatistics in clinical research:
It is crucial for any clinical research from design, conduct, analysis, and reporting in terms of controlling and minimizing biases, confounding factors, and measuring random errors.
They provide formal accounting for sources of variability n patients’ response to treatment.
It helps the clinical researcher to form reasonable and precise inferences from all collected information to make the correct decisions during the presence of uncertainty.
The Final Say
The application of statistics to biological and medical data promises to have a tremendous impact on the provision of health care and prevention of disease. The accurate interpretation of biostatistical data can serve as the foundation for efforts to improve public health and the quality of patient care. They need to remember that the patients are the most important stakeholders in the chain, as they are the end-users who deserve to lead a healthy, fulfilling life.

Face of Cambridge man introduced to life 700 years after his dying
The face of a Cambridge guy who died extra than 700 years in the past has been reconstructed as a part of a venture to gain insights into the nameless poor of the medieval town.
The 13th-century guy, referred to as Context 958 by researchers, became amongst masses whose stays have been found in a graveyard under what is now the Vintage Divinity College of St John’s College.
The cemetery became connected to a hospital and impartial charitable basis for negative and infirm citizens among 1200 and 1500, and is one of the largest medieval health facility cemeteries in Britain.
Archaeologists and other specialists are seeking new records on the negative who lived inside the metropolis, approximately whom there is little documentary evidence.
Prof John Robb, of the department of archaeology and anthropology at Cambridge College, stated: “We simply don’t recognize a whole lot approximately everyday bad medieval people and their lives. Maximum paintings have focused both on higher center instructions or on celebrity our bodies which include Richard III.
“Reading the skeletons of the unwashed hundreds, for this reason, has the ability to inform us lots of things we would in no way research from the written file.”
Our bodies found under St John’s have been commonly adults and may have protected impoverished pupils and laborers.
The facial reconstruction has been achieved by using Dr. Chris Rynn, a lecturer at the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identity at the College of Dundee. He carried out forensic strategies to estimate the face shape, combining tissue depths and facial anatomy.
Skeletal remains Rynn stated: “It’s the pores and skin textures which are extra subjective. The shape is all anatomical and scientific, after which the texturing of it is more subjective. That’s what we need the input of archaeologists for. What kind of hair style could they have got? What type of clothes could they put on?”
Describing the man’s capabilities, Rynn said: “His decrease face could be very masculine. He’s were given quite a feminine eyebrow and forehead. Having that blend of hyper-male and almost androgynous inside the identical cranium is pretty unusual. He looks pretty satisfactory.”
The burial web page has long been known, however, it becomes most effective after the College commenced renovating the basement of one among its buildings that it was excavated, with its contents found out in 2015. Archaeologists discovered 400 in large part whole skeletons and the partial stays of approximately six hundred greater.
The skeletons might be analyzed over 4 years, with experts Reading the whole thing from the nutrients to the dental fitness of the medieval citizens.
They will also look at the impact of the Black death on a medieval city’s population earlier than, throughout and after a plague. No evidence of the ailment has been observed at the website to date.
The facial reconstruction becomes unveiled remaining week as a part of a Science competition communicate given via Robb at St John’s.
He said: “For a long-term, human beings have been operating on skeletons as biomedical objects and looking to draw medical conclusions, almost in a way not enticing with the reality that those also are humans.”
Analysis of the man’s skeleton discovered a strong body. He was well-nourished, living off an eating regimen enriched by animal protein, while signs of physical labor protected “well-marked muscle attachments”, the scientists located. There was additional proof of dental troubles, consisting of abscesses. At his demise, a while among 1200 at the earliest and 1300 at the today’s, he became elderly between forty and 70.
Robb said: “it’s miles clear he comes from the poor city operating elegance, likely a labourer or small tradesman or craftsman, He lived to a very good age for his length and his skeleton indicates the profile of a survivor – plenty of small-to-medium afflictions that triggered ache and wear and tear but didn’t kill him.”

There are many historical Web sites in Cambridge MA,…after all that is one of the fundamental locations our founding fathers set roots.
As a younger boy from approximately the age of 7, I grew up in Cambridge MA and saw the numerous adjustments the town went through, socially, economically, culturally, politically, in addition to the panorama, and it has weathered all of it and gotten even better as a city in Well known. Certain there are matters that I experience has regressed however for the Maximum component many greater matters have stepped forward and Cambridge has emerged as a fair better location to stay, examine, play and do enterprise. Cambridge is Where our records started as a kingdom, and all of us can make it higher by using being accurate effective residents, who appearance out for our fellow man and friends….Cambridge needs to definitely come up with a new motto, “right here in Cambridge MA we deal with humans like we want to be treated”.
Another function of Cambridge is its “Squares.” Cambridge MA is frequently known as a “metropolis of Squares.” Most of the people have heard of Harvard Square, but there also are five different squares in Cambridge, every with their personal personality. The squares are Harvard Square, Porter Square, Inman Rectangular, Principal Rectangular. Kendall Rectangular. Lechmere Square.
operating in Cambridge MA is ideal in particular in case you live in or around the Cambridge region. College students from all around the world observe after which work inside the metro vicinity, so it could be a completely competitive atmosphere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive
5.0 out of 5 stars The State of the Art as it is Known Today. This textbook, aimed at the advanced undergraduate and graduate biology and medical students covers the basic biology of cancer at the molecular andcellular level. Research into cancer in many different directions has been continuing at an accelerated pace since about World War II. In 1975 a major breakthrough was made by H.E. Varmus and J.M. Bishop on San Francisco. The result has been the creation of the new branch of biology covered by this book. The amount of information discovered in the three decades since then has given us an immense database on the root causes of cancer. The basic discovery that cancer is not one disease but many, some 110 at last count, has led to vast amounts of data. This book begins to lay out the underlying laws and principles that are beginning to emerge from that data. At the same time, this book is written as a recruiting pamphlet to attract new generations of researchers to move the science forward. While the book points out the discoveries that have been made, it also points out areas where questions remain. At 850 pages, this is a large book, covering an immense amount of material. In addition there is a CD-ROM with even more material. It has figures, tables, micrographs loaded into Powerpoint presentations that cover each chapter which provides an excellent study aid. There are mini-lectures on various subjects. There are also several movies that will aid in the understanding of some of the processes involved.A poster 'The Pathways of Human Cancer' summarizes many of the signaling pathways implicated in tumor development. This poster has been produced by Cell Signaling Technology. The rate of development in the field means that this book will need a new edition shortly, but for the moment this represents the state of the art as it is known today. 5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece squared The biology of cancer-first edition by Prof. R. A. Weinberg was an immediate hit. A masterpiece for clarity, sublime scholarship and style. The second edition has all of the qualities appreciated by the readers including a very solid chapters update. All chapters have been rewritten and new data added covering the latest trend in scientific literature. A DVD is included containing images and movies. The book is further enhanced by a process of revision and update that magically cover almost any aspect, including immunology, therapy and cell biology. Prof. Weinberg is famous for scientific articles with a clear and incisive prose and the book offers all the nuances of his style. In addition, topics are extremely well integrated. Students and scientists will be happy to see how chapters are offering superlative insights with a unique perspective of the field. I was waiting the second edition for several years. And I am surprised to see how a masterpiece morphed into another one. Images and printing are state of the art. Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Fascinating, Well-Written This is one of the best books that I have read on any topic. The science of cancer is fascinating because it involves almost all aspects of cell biology. This book presents the subject in a clear, well-organized manner based on the experimental evidence. The author draws conclusions carefully always including possible alternative explanations so the reader senses the full complexity of the problem. He expresses a welcome skepticism about current cancer treatments and frankly discusses the controversies involved. The author has successfully organized a huge body of information in a way that makes it easy to read and understand. Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars A fitting textbook from a probable future Nobel laureate First you must consider whom the author is- Dr. Weinberg is a world renowned cancer researcher who has made fundamental contributions to cancer research, discovering some of the most important oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes (Ras and Rb). He's also a member of the national academy of sciences, etc...As a student working in a cancer research lab, I found the book to be highly instructive.Sure, I can just read review articles especially Annual Reviews for a lot of the things in the textbook, but there is no better single source for all things related to cancer in one package. The figures are very nice as well, and they are simplified for easy viewing (FACS plot will not have jagged lines, for example). However, the book is not missing in terms of primary data either as it has plenty of data from primary sources to demonstrate many of the points. For example, there is a 50 page chapter on p53 alone. You're not likely to find a 50 page review article on p53 anywhere else. And the text is filled with recent references too, as evidenced by a 2006 ChIP paper's figure, referenced in the p53 chapter.
